The Famous Monster Movie Art of Basil Gogos is a celebration of the career of the acknowledged master of film monster portrait art. To many fans of classic horror movies, the name Basil Gogos is as familiar as that of Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi or Vincent Price. Gogos' paintings are as iconic as his subjects. This long-overdue retrospective features high-quality reproductions of many of his most famous paintings as well as many previously unpublished paintings and drawings of classic film creatures and actors. Gogos' early work in men's adventure magazine and paperback book art will also be examined as well as his works in movie posters and other areas. An in-depth career-spanning interview with the artist will accompany the illustrations and tributes by other artists and film professionals inspired by Gogos' powerful images. The book will feature an introduction by rock star, movie director and horror collector Rob Zombie.

The "monster craze" among baby-boomers, sparked by the release of Universal Studios' horror classics to television in the late '50s, gave birth to a new phenomenon -- the monster magazine. Famous Monsters of Filmland, filled with monster photos and articles on horror movies and their stars, was the premier publication for young horror film fans.

Issues of the new magazine practically leapt off the newsstand shelves and into kids' hands due in no small way to their striking cover paintings by Basil Gogos. Like a Bizarro world Norman Rockwell, his stylish portraits of horror film characters and stars were seen on magazine covers throughout the '60s and '70s. Gogos' interpretations of movie monsters like Frankenstein, The Creature from the Black Lagoon, and the Phantom of the Opera, breathed new life into the old black and white images. His amazing use of color and bold, impressionistic brushwork gave a sense of both excitement and sophistication to his paintings which has never been matched.

Gogos' legend as the world's greatest movie monster artist has only grown over the years. His original Famous Monsters cover paintings are highly sought-after and are in the collections of many filmmakers and rock stars on whom he made a lasting impression. In recent years he has been in much demand by producers wishing to capture the unforgettable look and feel of the classic monster art of the '60s. CD and DVD covers, movie posters, trading cards, book covers and new monster magazines continue to keep Basil Gogos the world's greatest monster artist.

5 out of 5 stars THE BEST ART FROM THE BEST ARTIST.......2007-09-03

First of all...Like so many reviewers before me have said; almost every boy that grew up in the '50s & '60s anxiously collected our 35 cents every month so we could go to the local candy store & buy the latest issue of Famous Monsters of Filmland. This magazine became our bible & 4E Ackerman became our surrogate father. More than 45 years have passed; but I can still remember those magnificent covers as though it were yesterday. Basil Gogos painted the cover of the Gorgo issue which had a blue background & also the Vincent Price issue which had a white background, etc. This Book displays all of Basil Gogos outstanding cover art which graced the cover of FM for so many years. Don't take my word for it...ask Stephen King, Rick Baker, George Lucas, Stephen Spielberg, John Landis, Rob Zombie & a host of others..This book is an absolute delight for the senses & like fine art is meant to be treasured,

5 out of 5 stars love it !!.......2007-03-14

this book is great.Very happy to included this one in my collection.Already have a tattoo planed of bride of frankenstein.

4 out of 5 stars Gorgeous Book.......2007-02-06

I'm in agreement with another reviewer that mentioned the book could have been better written. That being said, it is well worth the price for all the fantastic paintings and drawings. A must for every fan of horror and sci-fi art.

4 out of 5 stars Nice Packaging, not much substance.......2006-08-26

Even without text, this book would've earned 4 stars, just for the impressiveness of Gogos' work. Within this book are large, crystal-clear repros of his most famous monster cover paintings, as well as samples of his illustration work.
The only setback for this book is its lack of depth in the text. It seems that whoever was sent to interview Basil didn't ask too many questions, didn't want to really know too much about him except for his general acheivements, and didn't ask him for a demonstration of how he works. Among all of the great pics, some candid ones of the artist would've been nice, most notably a pic of his studio.
Still, the images are so rich in color and character. Worth it!

5 out of 5 stars THE JOY OF BEING A MONSTER KID!.......2006-05-03

If you were fortunate to have been born between 1950 and 1970 or so, you're lucky to be a part of a wonderful fraternity. Like me, you are a "monster kid". Monster Kids are the generation that grew up with Shock Theater and campy horror movie hosts, old Aurora model kits, classic Universal horror films on 8MM, and...a fantastic magazine called Famous Monsters of Filmland. Famous Monsters was edited by legendary collector and Sci-Fi sage Forrest Ackerman and one of the great attractions throughout the years were the magnificent magazine covers painted by Basil Gogos. From Vanguard Productions comes "The Famous Monster Movie Art of Basil Gogos." Basil Gogos has rightfully been called, "The World's Most Famous Monster Artist." His bold, expresionistic use of color is what caught the eye of little ghouls like myself and my friends. Edited by Kerry Gammill and J. David Spurlock and with an introduction by Rob Zombie, the book provides a dazzling display of Gogos' art not only from Famous Monsters, but from many other magazines, books, and films.

In fact, his first professional sale was not a monster, but rather a cover for a western paperback (reprinted in the book) in 1959. Gogos did numerous covers in many different genres including westerns, war, jungle adventures, spicy adventures, and more. Dozens of examples of his work from this period are included. His first cover for Famous Monsters of Filmland appeared on the cover of issue #9 from November, 1960, depicting Vincent Price from "The House of Usher". For the first time, kids who were used to only knowing them from black & white films now saw their monster heroes in bold color thanks to Gogos. In all, Gogos did 48 covers of Famous Monsters and they are among the most popular issues for collectors. Everyone has their favorite Gogos Famous Monster cover...for me it was his rendition of Boris Karloff as the Mummy from issue # 58. The fine detail of the withered, dead-eyed mummy still mesmerizes me. Issue #56 featuring Gogos painting of Karloff as the Frankenstein's monster for the Karloff tribute issue is another favorite. Basil provides valuable insight to his legions of fans by discussing the various paints, styles, and techniques that he's employed over the years.

Gogos would eventually move into doing fine art as well as non-monster commercial illustration including work for many years at a New York advertising agency. But much like the victims of those classic monster films, Gogos found he could not, for long, escape his beloved creatures. The 1990's brought a renewed interest in Gogos' monster art and soon he was back doing new paintings for trading card companies, CD cover art for The Misfits and Rob Zombie, and a whole new generation of monster magazines such as Monsterscene, making him more popular than ever. Gogos even did the concept art for a series of U.S. Postage stamps in 1997 that featured the classic monsters. The book features comments and tributes from such luminaries as Sara Karloff, Ken Kelly, Forrest Ackerman, Roger Corman, and Rick Baker. In all there are over 150 color and 50 black & white illustrations in the 160 page book. For monster kids like myself, who are all "grown up" now, Basil Gogos will always have a special place in our hearts. His Famous Monsters of Filmland covers take us back to a simpler time of true chills and thrills and I can think of no other book that would please a monster fan more than "The Famous Monster Movie Art of Basil Gogos." Like many of the books from Vanguard Productions, it is available in several different editions: There is a softcover, a hardcover, and a deluxe hardcover that is signed by Basil Gogos and includes a 16 page bonus folio and comes in a slipcase. The Deluxe, signed, slipcased edition was an instant sell-out and is already selling for big bucks on the collector's market. My highest recommendation!

Murder Was Never So Much Fun!

When Disco Bloodbath was first published, it created a storm of controversy for its startlingly vivid, strikingly fresh, and outrageously funny depiction of the hedonistic world of the New York City club kids, for whom nothing was too outré -- including murder. Nominated for the Edgar Award for best true-crime book of the year, it also marked the debut of an audaciously talented writer, James St. James, who himself had been a club kid and close friend and confidant of Michael Alig, the young man convicted of killing the drug dealer known as Angel.

Now the book has been brought to the screen as Party Monster, with Macaulay Culkin playing killer Michael Alig and Seth Green as author/celebutante James St. James.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Simply fabulous tale of true murder in clubland.......2007-08-05

James St. James was part of the fantastic and drug-ridden New York club scene in the 80's, even before the birth of the "Club Kids" phenomenon. Not just gays and drag queens, but truly remarkable parties with bizarre themes. It was a time when everyone knew everyone from the scene, and the drug dealers were known by all. One evening in 1996, riding a drug-induced fugue, James finds himself at Michael Alig's apartment. Over scones and heroin, Michael confesses to James that he's killed the drug dealer named Angel. This is where the story starts.

James then fills in the holes, the entire atmosphere of the clubs and the etiquette involved. A "who's who" and "what's what" leading up to the announcement of murder. His tale is told in fabulously over-the-top drama, complete with capitols for punctuation. It's amazing that any one of the "club kids" survived all the drugs, degradations, partying, and out-and-out revelry of their wild clubbing life.

'Party Monster' is a fast read: fun, funny, tragic, spinning out of control, filled with bizarre fashion tips ... an expose of an outrageous lifestyle. Never before has a tale of murder been told with such squealing, zealous, zany prose. James St. James brings the scene to life, introducing us to the Michael Alig he knew long before the bizarre murder of the unlikable drug dealer Angel. Get ready for a wild ride when you pick up this book. This is James St. James first novel, I plan on picking up more of his work. This book is definitely work a peek. I plan on renting the movie also. Enjoy!

4 out of 5 stars Great Look into a Different World.......2007-07-10

I had no clue about the whole New York underground club scene. This book definitely brings that to life. Oddly, despite the fact that it is both a memoir and true crime book, you will find yourself laughing frequently. Rest assured that this is one of (if not the) only true crime books that you will read that will have you laughing, unfortunately, it was difficult to garner sympathy for the victim, or any of the other characters for that matter. But read this book it is great.

4 out of 5 stars Aaahh..the good old days!.......2007-05-16

I really enjoyed reading this book. It made me want to know Michael and James. I wish James would write a follow up. I'd love to know what the surviving club kids are up to these days.

5 out of 5 stars Angel's go to Heaven?.......2007-02-04

Okay, I had 3 finals in my college classes and piles of homework and I bought this book. Big mistake. I said I would read the first chapter then put it down. Six hours later I put it down. This book will hold you, grab you, and not let go. I don't agree with the principles of drugs and drag queens but they're people too and James St. James brings them to life on the page. I made C's on my finals. It was sooooo worth it.

5 out of 5 stars Simply Fun.......2007-01-31

This book is written so well you will forget you are reading about murder. I highly recommend this book as a fun-to-read item while taking a plane flight.

5 out of 5 stars Wonderfully Detailed Tribute To Television's First Family Of Fright.......2007-07-08

Having recently acquired this wonderful book by author Stephen Cox titled "The Munsters: A Trip Down Mockingbird Lane", as well as the recently released Two Seasons of the classic series on DVD, I once again never fail to marvel at this brilliant and totally original series that ran from 1964-66. Part domestic sitcom, part tribute to the Universal Monsters of old, and part satire on the "then", state of society as we perhaps knew it, "The Munsters" were really one of a kind, a sort of ghoul's version of "Father Knows Best". Produced in what I still firmly believe was the most creative decade on television, the swinging 1960's, "The Munsters", entry into the television schedule was perfectly timed and this most unusual of families slotted right in with the fantastic and totally "out of this world", programming of the time that featured beautiful suburban witches, talking horses, multi-millionaire hillbillies, bumbling spies, and sexy Genies.

Stephen Cox's loving tribute to this classic series makes first rate reading, chock full of terrific and highly informative information and dozens of truly stunning photos never before seen that will delight the heart of any reader. It truly is essential in the book collection of any devoted "Munster", fan like myself. In a similiar vein to his other writing efforts that explored such much loved series from the 1960's as "The Beverly Hillbillies", and "Green Acres", Mr. Cox here explores everything to do with the show in a easily read format. Everything "Munster" is here from the original ideas that formed the basis for the eventual series, to information on the series' incredible cast and production crew, to a detailed look at the show's lavish attention to detail in terms of sets, costumes and makeup. Discussion is also given by Mr. Cox on the still mysterious reasons for the show's cancellation after only two years and then examines the amazing after life of "The Munsters", that continues on as strong as ever after 40 years when many of the more "realistic", sitcoms that replaced it are now only hazy memories. In short it's the perfect book for "Munster", lovers and anyone who has a real interest in how television was produced in that golden decade of the 1960's.

5 out of 5 stars The Munsters A Trip Down Mockingbird Lane.......2007-06-02

This was a terrific book and provided detailed information about the show that took a lot of research. It was equally as entertaining. I would highly recommend that Munster fans (young and old). Illustrations are wonderful.

5 out of 5 stars A Book with Bite!!!.......2007-05-14

WOW, what an incredible book. This is just everything you need and want to know about the Munsters TV show. It has it all and doesn't skip a beat. The things you will learn about the tv show is just awesome. Wanna know about the makeup? It's there. Wanna know about the cars? It's there. What the cast has and is doing? It's there. Get the point.

Let me also say what a fabulous job of how the book was designed. Color photos and behind the scene shots thru out the book. These are just some of the most spectacular photos on the tv show I have seen. Nice Rare stuff. You will love it.

What a remarkable update to Mr. Cox original book. This is definately a whole new book. Get one before you can never find one like this again.

4 out of 5 stars I Still Don't Believe Butch Patrick was Born in 1953.......2007-03-06

A TRIP DOWN MOCKINGBIRD LANE is exactly that: a compilation of recollections from cast and crew that more or less leave a good feeling about the show and is akin to an album a family might collect in time for a reunion. There are no major revelations in this publication; stories are repeated throughout and must be fan favorites that folks enjoy being told again and again.

There are hints about Patrick Lily (better known as Butch Patrick) and his behavior on the set. There is mention of Fred and Al's constant bickering with the powers-that-were, but nothing concrete. Someday I would like to read a biography that would focus on Patrick's experience as a child actor. I do not believe he was born in 1953, he looks nine (at oldest) when the show first premiers. I think his age was lied about so he could get into makeup and be on the set longer than a younger child would have been allowed (I surmise this because he still looks no older than 12 in 1968 when he does "The Phantom Tollbooth"). Although I love "The Munsters" television series, and generally believe a good experience was had by all, I would be interested in reading Lily's story; I think we would find that his grandmother used acting as some use modern-day foster care.

As for this work, it is rare that a television series receive such a loving treatment: the color photos are vivid, the black and whites are brillaint, there are several trivia features that are fun, but would not have been thought of by a lesser biographer. It is a terrific keepsake for Munsters' fans and television adhearants in general.

5 out of 5 stars The Munsters: A Trip Down Mockingbird Lane.......2007-01-29

Awesome, detailed book. Easy, flowing reading that you can't put down! What an insight inot the production and cast members of this classic show.

5 out of 5 stars A fun re-imagining of an old favorite.......2006-11-28

This pop-up version of the 1970s Sesame Street classic, "The Monster At The End Of This Book" captures the same sense of fun and goofy audience participation as the original. The pop-up gags are enjoyable -- when Grover tries to tie the book shut, or nail the pages shut in order to prevent readers from getting to the end, we now get to see him pulling on the rope and hammering the nails. When his brick wall collapses, a 3-D Grover now sits among the wreckage. In opting for the participatory style of the pop-up medium, this new version mildly undercuts the book's original attraction, the fun that kids can have when adults ask them, "Do you think we should turn the page this time? maybe we should stop reading the book..." They can still howl nooooooo! turn the page! but with the thrill of a pop-up behind each page, it's harder to make the case that maybe we should give poor Grover a break, just this once. Of course none of this prevented my kid from insisting we read this one over and over -- she'd read both the original version and the shorter board-book edition before, but she really went ga-ga over this one. So, it's been road-tested in our household, and passed with flying colors. A fun book. Poor Grover.

4 out of 5 stars If you like the movie you'll like this book........2005-03-19

My older son loved this book when we introduced it before the DVD. He was too young to sit through the lengthy text but we solved the problem by just telling him our version based on the movie. He bonded instantly with Sully when grandma bought him the giant stuffed monster and "monster" was one of his first words. These days he takes the book out and "reads" his version to his little brother. He's only seen the movie twice (because he has restricted tv viewing time) but he tells a pretty good story.

3 out of 5 stars Too long for very young children.......2002-02-14

My pet peeve among children's books is when they are too darn LONG. It takes forever to read this one aloud as it is written, and my 4-year-old gets pretty bored. (Of course, your four-year-old's mileage may vary.) I usually make up a short, one or two sentence synopsis for each page, and "read" that instead of the long paragraph.

Also the illustrations are just, well, funky-looking. They've got a strange, hard-edge, shadowy look that's nothing like the movie. The writers would have done a lot better to stick to movie cels, or else lighter, brighter caricatures.

This one ended up in the "hardly ever read it" pile.

5 out of 5 stars A 5 Star Monster Story.......2001-11-02

Monsters Inc. is about monsters trying to scare every child in the human world. The monsters go through doors to each child's closet door. They scare the children and collect the children's screams for energy to run the monster world. All the monsters are afraid of the children because they think they are toxic. Everything goes wrong when a little girl named Boo gets out of the human world. Sulley and Mike are best friends. At first they are afraid of Boo, but Sulley becomes like a kitty to Boo. Sulley and Mike help each other to get Boo out of the monster world. I liked the book when Boo sneezed on Mike. Then Mike sprayed disinfectant spray in his eye when was going spray it on his arm. After he sprayed his eye he covered his eye, stomped his foot and he screamed "Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!" I also liked it when Mike and Sulley went through the door and wound up in the long corridor passageway. They wound up on a mountain where it was snowing up above were they live. The book was so good that I want to see the movie right away. I want my family to be the first three people in the theater

The book is good, and the dvd is GREAT! It has music that really brings the story to life.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent book & dvd for storytime and for children of all ages........2007-02-01

WHAT A STORY!!!!!!!!!!! The animation in the dvd is beyond spectacular!!! Preschoolers and children of any age will enjoy this book and dvd. My 17 year old has watched it many times. What a wonderful idea to include a movie version with the picture book. I work in a library and read to children weekly and this is one of the most memorable books that I have shared with them. The children loved it!!!!!!!!!!!! The 8 minute dvd is perfect for storytime. A must have for any library and a great book for all!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4 out of 5 stars Lovely.......2007-01-16

I bought this in October for our daughter's second birthday. It is now January, and this is still one of her favorite shows. She requests to watch it more nights than not as part of the 'ok it's time to start settling down for bed' ritual. Not only does our daughter enjoy the show, but after I don't know how many viewings neither my wife nor I are sick of it. Toddlers love repetition; finding something you can repeat without cringing every time it is requested is awesome.

The Collector's Edition comes with both a book and a DVD. Most of my comments are directed at the DVD. The book is very nicely put together and does add a little to the story, but the illustrations somehow do not capture the energy that the DVD has. I suspect it is the soundtrack by They Might Be Giants on the DVD that helps to keep things moving. My daughter enjoys books in general, but this one is almost never requested despite loving the video version of the story. By contrast she loves having Thomas the Tank Engine books read to her - and I know that's a result of having watched a couple of Thomas videos.

For the price, I believe that the Collector's Edition is a great value. The story is sweet and imaginative, the production values are excellent and overall it's fun. I didn't give it 5 stars because (a) I wouldn't say that this is a classic and (b) if you don't have children, you should be warned you're buying a children's book and an 8 min video; not a 'must have' under all circumstances.

4 out of 5 stars Moongirl.......2007-01-12

Beautifully packaged. I bought it for my 2 grandsons assuming it would be a very high quality gift. The hard back book is very nice indeed and beautifully illustrated. The DVD was much shorter than I expected.

5 out of 5 stars wonderful work for our time.......2006-12-31

I was able to review this in my job as a librarian. What a rare delight! It restores my faith that there may be truly beautiful and worthwhile works of art and literature for kids out there. I just bought two more copies to give as gifts to little friends turning four this week, and I will buy many more.

This book/movie set has the best of everything in an artistic and literary work-- the illustrations are luminous as is the visual and sound impact of the dvd movie. It's slightly edgy, dark, and melancholy-- just like I like it!

It's a wonderful example of everything that is good about the arts-- wonderful for kids, so beautiful and well done artistically that it's a delight for adults as well. The soundtrack, featuring They Might Be Giants (a favorite from my teens who continue to delight me with their originality and versatility), is so perfect for the story, wistfully beautiful, complex, and quirky and fun at the same time.

This is the kind of work I want to have in my home to help my kids craft their own aesthetic, emotional compass, and inner landscape. Plus it's so gorgeous I have to have it for myself. Isn't it wonderful the opportunities we get to enjoy ourselves in ways we couldn't justify or had no idea about until we had kids?

The only small thing I didn't like was that, in my opinion and I'm no linguist, little Leon's accent could have been better. The voice acting of Leon was as great and heartfelt as the rest of this work, don't get me wrong, but I wish he'd been more truly and obviously Cajun. [Wasn't he supposed to be Cajun?] It is always delightful when someone who really comes from a particular heritage or cultural group is tapped to play a particular part, and disappointing when a sort of generic talent is tapped to play someone from a distinctive regional, ethnic or culture.

Overall, a great work, and a must have. And with all the books and media out there aimed at parents' pocketbooks, I don't say that at all lightly.

Book Description

Twenty-three years ago, Sam and Dean Winchester lost their mother to a demonic supernatural force. Following the tragedy, their father, John, set out to teach his boys everything about the paranormal evil that lives in the dark corners and on the back roads of America . . . and how to kill it.

Fans of the blockbuster television phenomenon can rejoice! A one-of-a-kind compilation of all of Sam and Dean's demon-busting knowledge, The Supernatural Book of Monsters, Spirits, Demons, and Ghouls contains illustrations and detailed descriptions that catalogue the more than two dozen otherworldly enemies that most people believe exist only in folklore, superstition, and nightmares:vampires, ghosts, revenants, reapers, and even bloody clowns. You'll find within these pages Sam and Dean's notes, observations, and memories interwoven with sections of John Winchester's invaluable journal, making this book the perfect companion to every thrilling episode—and an essential weapon in the secret war against the hidden creatures of the darkness!

This book is not just for those who are fans of the CW show Supernatural. Eric Kripke, creator of the show, prides himself on the validity of the legends and myths he uses in his show. This book gives background information about things encounted by the Winchesters with a few new critters added in. The text uses Sam and Dean's voices for each section and fans of the show can easily pick out which Winchester is speaking each time. This book is a must for those who want to learn more about urban legends and things that roam the night.

Book Description

They came from Japan -- those larger-than-life monsters that terrorized Tokyo and then stomped their way into America's households and hearts. The success of Godzilla, Mothra, and Rodan has inspired action figures, dolls, plush toys, model kits, comic books, posters, and records. This thorough guide covers five decades' worth of collectibles based on these appealing monsters.

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars DON'T PANIC...IT'S ONLY GODZILLA!.......2002-04-02

Dana Cain's book is an enjoyable, well written guide to an increasingly popular sub-category of monster toy collecting. No book on pricing collectibles is likely to remain current for long, and its real value lies in providing the reader with a pictorial overview of its subject. COLLECTING JAPANESE MOVIE MONSTERS succeeds very well in this, and its text provides some lively historical background into that singularly odd period in cinema where colossal creatures used Tokyo as a ring and we watched guilt-free. Note to "serious" Japanese movie monster collectors: don't take it all so seriously. Those responsible for the men in the monster suits didn't.

3 out of 5 stars A good book with info not found elsewhere.......1999-07-26

While not perfect, this book is better than the earlier reviews said. The book is very well illustrated, and most of the pictures are very clear and sharp. To say that the pictures come mainly from a Toys-R-Us is simply false: The vast majority of the toys pictured are items not even distributed in the U.S., to say nothing of the movie posters, magazines, etc.

Any price guide is eventually going to be out of date. Many of the prices in this book are still current, although there are several that are not. I did find a couple of errors, where a picture was incorrectly labeled. To be fair, Sean Linkenback's book has similar errors and in many examples his prices are more dated than Ms. Cain's, plus her book includes items not even listed in his.

Yes, Linkenback's book is more in-depth, but it has its flaws too. As with other kinds of price guides, thinking of a single edition as being all encompassing or definitive is a mistake.

1 out of 5 stars Bad........1999-01-30

This is not the first price guide on these toys. Sean Linkenback's was the first and much better than this.... Ms./Mr. Cain should research the subject before saying what prices are. Linkenback is a respected dealer of Japanese toys and thus infitely more qualified for an endeavor such as this. Cain, you should take a research class.

2 out of 5 stars Not as good as other books on the subject.......1999-01-09

I was really looking forward to this book, and unfortunately con not find much to recommend about it. The listings are woefully incomplete and many times inaccurate. Photography is only so-so, and is mainly filled with items from the local Toys-R-Us. A better book to get would be "The Unauthorized Guide to Godzilla Collectibles". The one bright spot is the 14 pages on Gamera, which while could be better is finally altogether under one cover.

2 out of 5 stars MISLEADING.......2007-06-02

I recently purchased several Backyardigan books on line because our two year old grandson loves them. When they arrived I was dissapointed to find that "The Mud Monster: A Bath Book" was just a small four page vinyl book apparently designed to take into the bathtub. When he's in the bath, he's interested in splash and play, not books. Hence, this one is not a favorite.
