Step by step guide to creating and taking a product to market.......2007-07-27
Tamara works her way though all the steps for bringing a product to market. As the title would suggest her target audience is female but as a male I also found that it was very informative. She presents examples from her own work as well as that of others helping to show how varied and simple products really can be.

Tremendous aid for understanding how to turn your new product idea into a successful business.......2006-06-10
I launched a new product line several years ago - learning a lot along the way. I am getting ready to launch a new line of products and decided to read this book. It was a tremendous resource! So many of the answers that I had to dig for and learn the hard (and expensive) way - are contained here in one easy to read book. I highly endorse it. It is also very motivational (as you read the stories of other people) that decided to take action and turn their idea into a successful business. Well worth the price. Very well written.
Informative and inspiring.......2006-03-12
Mom inventors wanting more info on what's involved in bringing a product to market will want to read this book. The book offers practical advice on researching your market, creating your product prototype, protecting your idea, manufacturing your product, and bringing your product to market.
What I like best about the book is that it features case studies and practical advice from real-life mom inventors.
There are also lots of helpful website links and other helpful resources at the back of the book -- very helpful for mom inventors who wish to do some additional research.
This is a terrific and inspiring book that will be very helpful to mom inventors at any stage of bringing an invention to market -- conception right through delivery.
Amazing, Informational & A Must Have.......2005-11-18
This book does it all for anyone wanting to create/invent a product that they hope to bring to market. Tamara shares in a very easy-to-read format her experiences, her expertise and saves the rest of us lots of time, energy and money. Her mistakes made along the way combined with her successes that continue to grow provide the reader with a wealth of knowledge about researching, developing, patenting, protecting, marketing (and more!) an idea/invention.
Pair this with the CD sets created by her dynamic and resourceful company mominventors.com, and you will walk away with knowledge you could not even get in business school! I wish I had read this three years ago when I first started my product line development. Thanks Tamara for sharing so freely and so generously to save the rest of us time and money!!!

Book Description
The moment the second line on the pee stick turns pink, women discover they've entered a world of parenting experts.
Friends, family, colleagues, the UPS delivery guy -- suddenly everybody is a trove of advice, much of it contradictory and confusing. With dire warnings of what will happen if baby is fed on demand and even direr warnings of what will happen if he isn't, not to mention hordes of militant "lactivists," cosleeping advocates, and books on what to worry about next, modern parenthood can seem like a minefield.
In busy Mom-friendly short essays, Sippy Cups Are Not for Chardonnay delivers the empathetic straight dirt on parenting, tackling everything from Mommy & Me classes ("Your baby doesn't need to be making friends at three months old -- you do! But not with people you'll meet at Mommy & Me") to attachment parenting ("If you're holding your baby 24/7, that's not a baby, that's a tumor"). Stefanie Wilder-Taylor combines practical tips with sidesplitting humor and refreshing honesty, assuring women that they can be good mothers and responsibly make their own choices. A witty and welcome antidote to trendy parenting texts and scarifying case studies, Sippy Cups Are Not for Chardonnay provides genuine support, encouragement, and indispensable common-sense advice.

Your Outspoken Friend .......2007-08-09
Her writing is so real & raw you feel as if you're sitting right next to her making fun of the "normal" mommies across the room. Although she is a little brazen on some of the sentimental moments some moms experience with having a baby, she does have a knack for making you laugh & enjoy the whole experience.
I laughed until I cried.......2007-07-30
At 7 months pregnant, (I'm now working on boy #2), everything that Stefanie writes about is very familiar. I've had to put the book down because I was laughing so hard that I was concerned I might have to change pants. My husband has laughed just as hard.
This book isn't for everyone. If you're a hopeless romantic, this might not be the book you want. But, if you're a strong, modern woman with a sense of humor...don't pass this one up. (If you like Vicki Iovine's "Girlfriend's Guides" you'll love this one.)
I'll be passing it on to my favorite girlfriends.
A breath of fresh air.......2007-07-09
Yes it is possible to be a new parent and retain a sense of humor! This book is very funny and if, like me, you have spent months pre-and post-baby combing through dozens of parenting books, it really does feel like a breath of fresh air. Stephanie's approach is real and honest and her bottom line is, you do whatever works for you. You can't fit your baby into a prescribed role according to some parenting technique. Some things work some of the time, nothing works all of the time, you just do the best you can to make it through the day!
THank You, Thank You, THank YOu.......2007-06-13
I needed this book!!! Buy it, it is the best decision on a book, My husband would look at me like I was crazy everytime I laughed outloud at the book. I would try to explain it, but he just couldn't understand!
funny!.......2007-06-08
This book had me laughing out loud from page 1!!! Written in short little chapters( new mom friendly) this book covers every dillema faced by first time moms with a huge dose of humor and sarcasm.
Beware: If you are into all the "mommy-isms" you may not find it so funny. As a 1st time mom in her 40's this book hit the spot.

Great Gift.......2007-04-05
I just bought this book for my cousin who was having a baby as I love to gather 5 or so books for the first time mom! I look through it before I placed it in the gift basket and was I amazed...the perfect book for the perfect - soon to be mom!Moms' Lifesavers: Tips to Make Life Easier for New Mothers
the only book about child-rearing I haven't wanted to throw.......2007-03-28
This book is a sigh of relief after a long day. It's not overwhelming, and it doesn't make you feel like you're doing everything wrong as a new mom. It reminds you that interacting with your new baby should be simple and fun, and gives you little ideas to bond with your child more each day. It also reminds you that you're not alone in your overwhelming new circumstances, and offers simple prayers to give you perspective. It's been great for me, and the other moms I know.
Simply A Treasure.......2006-11-27
I think of this gift whenever someone special in my life becomes an expectant mom; I and everyone else I've shared this book with have agreed it is simply a treasure, and although I'm not there yet, reading through it has actually made me look forward to becoming a mom someday!
The book is prepared as a "daily guide to loving and nurturing your baby". Essentially, each day during the first year after your baby's birth, the author delivers delightful activities to supplement your growth with your newborn. My friends have shared that they've found the daily activities insightfully tuned to their baby's growth, helping them recognize and appreciate their development in their first year.
Although the author leans a great deal on her Christian faith, I think anyone regardless of background could glean a great deal from this guide as the author's messages are really reflections and expressions for any mother's hopes for her baby's well-being and growth.
LOVE this book!.......2006-11-12
This book was SO helpful to me. I didn't think the suggestions could get any better, but as my son could do more and more as he grew, the suggestions matched up to his abilities. WONDERFUL gift, a must have for moms in the first year.
So Good It's Now My Favorite Gift to Give! .......2006-11-04
If there is one book that every mom needs (preferably kept within close reach), it's Linda Danis' 365 Things Every New Mom Should Know. Readable, inspiring, and filled with advice and encouragement guaranteed to lift the spirits of tired moms. I've enjoyed the book so much that it has become a standard gift I've given to moms of new babies. I've received such enthusiastic thank you notes that I know it's hit the same chord for my friends as it did for me. This book reminds us to relax, enjoy our babies, cherish these fleeting moments, and laugh a little more.

Customer Reviews:
Easy and good read.......2005-10-29
I don't have time to read a book cover-to-cover, so I appreciated 'How to Survive Your Baby's First Year'. I keep it on the night-table by my bed and read a few tips/stories every night. This book isn't meant to be an expert driven in-depth exploration of how to care for your baby. It's meant to share some good advice from real moms and dads on how to get through the first year with your new baby - and it does that well.
1st time mom.......2005-10-21
Somewhat entertaining, quick read, NOT informative. It was more about people sharing briefly their experiences than it was about actual useful tips. It's comforting to read about other parents going through similar challenges but you can read about that for free at one of those online newsletters [...] AND get some real, useful advice from other parents and experts in childcare. Not worth the money to get the book.
I won't be keeping this on my shelf for much longer.
Okay as a fun read..........2005-08-28
I think I got the wrong impression when I bought this book, I thought it would be a little more informative then it was. Most of the comments from other parents are "inspirational," not educational. I was looking for the book to actually give tips on infant care, but there was only a few of them that delivered on that thought. I think it is a good read only as entertainment.
Sister loved it!.......2005-03-05
It got this book for my pregnant sister, and she loved it! Said the stories were hilarious and touching, and the advice from everyday folks was fun and useful.
What to Read When You are Reading the "so called" experts.......2005-01-24
What a pleasant surprise. I was given this book and figured it would be like all the other baby books...i.e. they make you crazy. In the other books some expert tells you how exactly your child will develop and how you should respond. That's not real life.
Every child is different (as is every parent) and that is the strength of this book. The editors have interviewed hundreds of parents who have been through the same new born child experience. They share great and different advice. It is quite frankly a relief to know that there isn't just one way and that other parents share the doubts and experiences that the rest of us do. I highly recommend adding How to Survive Your Baby's First Year to your library.
Book Description
Kid-approved, and parent-tolerated, this indispensable manual comes packaged with a whoopie cushion kit (think of it as science with a punch line). This is one activity book full of stuff kids really want to do.
Customer Reviews:
23 and still use what I learned.......2006-06-26
Yep, I am 23, and still do the fake sneeze, the fake belt loop snap, the sneaking is alright. Some of the facts in there still impress people. As a result of the book, I learned and often utilize little known facts about the postal service. Genius from cover to cover.
Bringing Back Memories.......2006-06-02
I'm 17 years old, but I remember having this book when I was little. This was my favorite book. It showed me how to sneak around and how to leave a glass of water upsidedown on a kitchen counter. These are still skills that I use in my everyday life. I highly reccomend it.
Great 4 Babysitting.......2005-11-12
Well, I haven,t actually bought this book but I am planning 2. I think this is a great book 4 girls who R going to start babysitting cause it teaches U great tricks and activities 4 the kids U R going 2 babysit.
The Book that has a long title + that I am too lazy to type.......2001-09-18
Now, I do not actually own this book. My friend Rebecca does though. No, Im not actually Mary Lee, but her "little girl" (well, if 11 is little) Now, I highly recommend this to all kids who really love to annoy/trick their parents, like me. It has a very good trick called the Egg Trick, youll have to buy the book to see what it is. It also had tips for sneaking around (as I've been sneaking around for a good 9 years, I knew all of these but their good for inexperienced sneakers). It has a TON of fun things to do in it, this is really worth the cash. If youre a parent looking for a good Christmas gift, this is perfect! Dont worry, like it says on the cover, you will NOT disapprove of anything in this.
Great kids book.......2000-06-19
I loved every part to this book. It is a great thing to read, it has how to sneak around, pig latin, questions that adults should know, tennis ball launchers, kid facts(one of my favorites) and so much other cool stuff. When I bought it the whoopie cushion didn't work at all, so don't get all excited about that part.
It is great for boredom in the summer, and might drive your parents crazy, in a not so bad way.

Customer Reviews:
Disappointing.......2007-06-11
I was very disappointed with this book. Not only is it very small in size (about 3"x3") which makes it hard to read, the farther I got in this book the more critical it seemed to get. If you parent in any way different from this writer, you are looked down on. I am very sorry I waisted my money on this book.

Bought for my mom and ended up reading it too :).......2006-05-09
I had "It is a Girl Thing" and decided to buy "It is a Mom Thing" to my mom.... who liked the book so much that advised me to read it!
Very nice book!
Gets Tiresome.......2001-06-28
This book has some amusing moments and maybe a couple of real laughs, but after a bit it gets monotonous. The writing doesn't really flow naturally and it becomes difficult to read. I prefer Vicki Iovine's books and sense of humor.
Still funny.......2001-06-22
I was Jan's undergraduate advisor at the University of Connecticut in the mid 1960s. Even then she had a keen, quick-witted sense of humor. It is nice to see that after 35 plus years, three marriages, two divorces, two sons, and two grandkids, Jan has not lost her "edge." She simply has that much more material with which to work!! This is definitely her best book yet. A good read, even for males.
Book Description
Kids experience all sorts of grief and loss---a death in the family, a divorce, an unexpected move, the loss of a pet. They need ways to acknowledge these losses and they need to be able to express their grief in physical ways. Some children need the activities we consider traditional: they conduct ceremonies or write letters to the people they have lost. Other children, overflowing with the anger that is a natural part of grief, need to pound, punch, run and jump. Still others want to express their grief through art.
Written by Laurie Kanyers, M.A., whose research and clinical experience has focused on how children cope when they must deal with change, loss and death, "25 Things to Do..." explains the grieving process. It provides dozens of activities that help bereaved children. Kanyer explains the value of each activity so that parents and caregivers can select appropriate projects based on the child's age, kind of loss and stage in the grieving process. She also discusses how learning about grief prepares children for new relationships and to accept losses later in life.
