Book Description
On the comics scene of late, Get Fuzzy has made the fur fly. Now syndicated in more than 175 newspapers, this freshly amusing strip has rapidly become the new darling among readers who enjoy pets with an attitude. This wry cartoon features Rob Wilco, a mild-mannered ad guy who's guardian to two rambunctious pets: Bucky, a temperamental cat who carries a boom box and goes on spending sprees, and Satchel, a gentle canine who tries to remain neutral even when he bears the brunt of Bucky's mischief. Together, this unlikely trio hang out together, watching TV, cooking for friends, and attempting the occasional adventure outside. Anyone who has a pet or even knows one will find Get Fuzzy an astutely witty take on relationships between the species.
Customer Reviews:
A Get Fuzzy Reading Guide.......2007-08-11
I won't go into how fantastic this comic strip is, but it is easily my favorite comic strip of all time. :)
For the uninitiated, there are 6 collections so far and three treasuries. The seventh collection is not yet released.
Please keep in mind that each treasury is two collections put together, so as far as I know the treasuries are the same as two of the collections, except I believe the treasuries have the Sunday comics in color while the collections have them in black and white.
In chronological order, the collections are:
1. The Dog is Not a Toy: House Rule #4
2. Fuzzy Logic: Get Fuzzy 2
3. The Get Fuzzy Experience
4. Blueprint for Disaster
5. Say Cheesy: A Get Fuzzy Collection 5
6. Scrum Bums
7. I'm Ready for My Movie Contract: A Get Fuzzy Collection (not yet released)
The treasuries are:
1. Groovitude (encompassing collections 1 and 2).
2. Bucky Katt's Big Book of Fun (encompassing collections 3 and 4).
3. Loserpalooza (encompassing collections 5 and 6).
These comics are beyond hilarious, and I would highly recommend them to pet lovers/haters of all ages. :)
Made Me laugh.......2007-05-15
I liked reading the early stuff, as well as the new stuff. The book is short (as are all comic collections) and I read it in a day, but I just couldn't put it down. The only complant I have is, they should be numbered so you can get them in order, but you can take the time to figure it out by date, thats no problem!
Played For a Fool.......2006-06-30
Rob Wilco is an unappealing cigarette nosed, cigarette faced idiot who lives with a talking bad cat named Bucky and a sweet, not too sharp Sharpei-Lab mix named Satchel. Rob is always played for a fool by his bad cat.
The guy isn't much, but at least his pets talk to him. Oh, brother!
Pretty funny.......2006-02-23
This book was pretty funny. It's obviously an older book as I have read a lot of the comics in 'Get Fuzzy', but it was still pretty damn funny. Bucky's the best
THE TRUTH ABOUT CATS AND DOGS.......2005-01-25
Recently, I began to slowly return to the barren landscape that is today's newspaper comic section. I soon discovered 2 strips that I actually looked forward to reading every day - The Boondocks and Get Fuzzy. After warming up to The Boondocks, I went out and bought every book to catch up on this unique strip. Needless to say, I also did the same thing for Get Fuzzy. The Dog Is Not A Toy (House Rule #4) is an excellent introduction into the lives of Rob Wilco, Bucky Katt, and Satchel Pooch. Finally, the truth about cats and dogs.

Book Description
An exquisite companion dog, adorned in a gleaming solid-white coat, the Japanese Spitz is a rare find indeed. Relatively new to the world of pure-bred dogs, the Japanese Spitz traces its origins to 20th-century Japan, where the breed enjoys an enthusiastic following. Outside its native land, the breed has begun to catch the eye of discriminate fanciers in the UK and US.
This Special Rare-Breed Edition, written by British Japanese Spitz breeder Michael P. Rule, proves a vital resource for dog lovers interested in this spectacular Nordic breed. Colorful and comprehensive in its scope, this book discusses breed history, accompanied by many important historical photographs, plus breed characteristics and standard as well as health care, grooming, obedience and house-training, puppy selection and everyday care.
In addition to an authoritative text, written with both the pet owner and breed fancier in mind, this book presents over 135 color photographs of elegant Japanese Spitzes that prove to be as attractive as they are informative. Readers will welcome the author's insightful advice about raising and caring for a Japanese Spitz, and will consider this one-of-a-kind edition indispensable and resourceful.

Book Description
WHO'S MORE IMPORTANT than the Queen? Whom does she serve? Her royal corgis, of course! But life isn’t just royal thrones and unlimited biscuits for young Titus, Her Majesty’s favorite pup. There are burglars to catch, fires to put out, leaking tubs to attend to, and jealous cousins to deal with. In the end, though, it’s the Queen’s edict that matters most: “Titus Rules!”
Dick King-Smith, beloved author of Babe: The Gallant Pig, offers a delightfully entertaining book to inspire readers with love for young
Titus, and also with love for reading.
“Kids will enjoy the engaging Titus; the fast-moving, witty prose; and the adventures inspired by loyalty and royalty, whether two legged or four. Comic drawings add to the fun.”—Booklist
From the Hardcover edition.
Customer Reviews:
Loved the concept but............2007-08-24
I bought this book for my 8 year old. We have a corgi and I thought she would love the idea of the Queen's corgi's. She did, but I was uncomfortable with the drinking and smoking in the book. It didn't need to be in there. The rest of the book was enjoyable. Buy it if you feel comfortable with smoking and drinking "romantized".
a darling children's book.......2007-03-31
Very cute story of the Queen of England, her curmudgeonly husband, and the Queen's new favorite pup. Good illustrations, reading level for elementary kids, and quirky sense of humor.
Corgi Fun at the Palace.......2005-07-08
A jolly account of the adventures of one of the Queen's Corgi puppies. Amusing drawings, and a view of the royals from a Corgi's point of view. Should be enjoyed by readers from 8 to 80.
King Titus.......2004-02-04
This book is awesome! It is about Titus, the Queen's Corgi, and England. It is funny. I especially like the part where Titus tells the others that the Queen is his servant.
The librarian read this to our second grade class. If you like dogs, queens, England or funny stories, I recommend it.
Warm characterization blends with whimsical humor.......2003-04-20
John Eastwood provides the engaging illustrations for Titus Rules!, a story of a Queen's favorite dog, and Titus' bravery in keeping on the alert. Warm characterization blends with whimsical humor with a peppering of black and white drawings in this warm story of a brave royal pet.

Customer Reviews:
A fun experience for all dog lovers.......2007-03-12
For a man who doesn't own dogs, Kirk sure knows dogs. The poems, all written from dogs' points of view, are clever and insightful. The CD of all 22 poems set to music is a hoot. The vocals and sound recording are not exactly Grammy-worthy, but there's little doubt that both singers and musicians were having fun. The wide range of music styles (zydeco, delta blues, two-steps, pop, folk, etc.) makes the lyrics all the more enjoyable. "Purple Rhinestone Collar" will make you howl and "Your Best Friend" will make you get a lump in your throat.
Dog lovin fun.......2006-05-19
We've listened to Daniel Kirk's other book/CD combo, Go! over and over and thought this one was worth a try as well. Not a bit disappointed. Kirk does it again with amusing lyrics, and novel perpectives on the familiar. Always looking for books that are not entirely predictable, while also staying within the bounds of familiarity that all kids seem to crave. They recognize their own experiences here, but they also get a new take on things at the same time. But best of all the music is loads of fun for the kids and great for adult ears too. If you like Dan Zanes you'll like Daniel Kirk as well.
This is a blast! Definate yes!.......2005-11-27
We borrowed this from the library initially. Now I am buying it as a Christmas gift. My 6yo son and 8yo daughter love it! They sing the songs all the time and wanted to listen to the CD every day when we borrowed it.
Dogs Rule!.......2005-08-19
My children love this book! The music CD is a real bonus with funny doggy songs that they sing over & over (& over...)! Makes a great gift too.
You and the kids will love it!.......2005-01-05
Kids love books that come with cds. This book is adorable and the songs are very catchy! The pictures are hysterical and so are some of the lyrics. This is a book to buy for a child or as a fun gift for an adult dog lover!

Hilarious and sweet.......2003-04-23
I read this book at the house of a fellow dog lover and ended up ordering 6 copies for other dog lovers I know! Can't wait to share it with them, as they will appreciate the not only the humor, but how well it represents the personalities of dogs we have all known and loved.
Who's running the show?.......2002-02-26
This book must be written by a really smart old dog because he does seem to know how everything works. I read some of it to my dogs and they totally agree. We all had a great tummy scratch and took a nap. I just ordered two more for other pups I know. Great fun!!

Cute and clever collection of observances on doggy behavior. Just for fun, but one of the cleverest of its type, and I love the illustrations.

I've never read a book which so expertly captures the warmth and humor of owning a dog. If I didn't know better, I'd say my dogs wrote this book. If you've ever owned a dog, or better yet, if you've ever seen a dog, this book is a must! It's funny!

Book Description
Why do kids have to follow so many rules? Everyone in Grody's life gets to tell him what to do: his mother, his father, his sister, his teacher. . . . He's tired of it! Determined to take matters into his own hands, Grody comes up with his own set of rules. Clean socks? Who needs 'em? Use a napkin? What's the point?
Beloved author-illustrator Nicole Rubel has created a character who will have kids howling--and maybe, just maybe, seeing the reason behind some of those awful rules grown-ups like so much.
Customer Reviews:
Down with the Rules.......2003-08-07
Nicole Rubel's wonderfully twisted sense of humor and amazing illustrations will bring laughter to everyone who ever wanted to break free of adult rules on proper behavior. If you are, or ever were, a child who wanted to fly in the face of convention, and who of us hasn't, then do yourself a favor and pick up this book. The illustrations more than double the fun. You will find yourself wanting to savor every detail. Loved the book. If you want a laugh, you will too.
Grody's lessons teaches kids values.......2003-05-28
Nicole has come up with another winner in her series of children books. In "Grody's Not So Golden Rules", values important for children to learn are presented in counter-example. By seeing the results of making poor value decisions, kids learn, as Grody learns, the true benefit of "golden rules". Written in an easy to read format and richly illustrated with Nicole's own unique style of artistry, this book can be enjoyed by a wide range of children.
Grody's not so Golden Rules.......2003-05-18
Nicole Rubel once again displays her artistry and humor with Grody's not so Goden Rules. Grody is every parent's worst nightmare. Tired of his parents and sister constantly telling him what to do, he puts together his own "rules" and reaps what he has sewn with hilarious and apt results.
Thankfully, his last rule is not to follow his rules. Grody learns his lesson and readers will laugh and learn with him.
Rubel ventures into a new realm artistically with Grody. She uses ink, markers, colored pencils, watercolors and strategic splashes of collage. The result is wonderful, with each page a treasure hunt to find the various collage pieces. My personal favorites are the orange fuzzy slippers. With this book, Nicole Rubel offers children and parents a visual bouquet and a zany new character to love. Grody is a hit.
Grody is Golden.......2003-05-16
Grody rules! We laughed the whole way through this book. The story shows you how not to be and the pictures kept us all looking for new things to find. It's a new favorite in our house!

Rules of Thumb 2 (Rules of Thumb)
ASIN: 0060552654 |
Book Description
There are certain human virtues that Golden Retrievers inherently possess -- goldens are friendly, full of desire, determined to fulfill what is asked, and devoted to their family members. In this charming gift book, the virtues of the Golden Retriever are depicted through outstanding photography and motivating text that inspire readers to strive for the best in themselves.
Customer Reviews:
Cute and Pithy!.......2006-09-14
This book is a must for any member of the Golden Retriever Fan Club! The entries are pictures with adorable quotes and should appeal to all ages.
Book Description
"As fascinating and quirky as they are, having a cat is like having a pet. Having a dog is like having a really stupid brother that needs a lot of looking after." Writer William Thomas, once the consummate cat lover and author of the bestselling Malcolm and Me: Life in the Litterbox, is now a complete dog fanatic. In The Dog Rules, William and his handsome Border Collie/Australian Shepherd Jake take you on a wild and wacky walk along the road of cohabitation between man and man's best friend. It's just not quite clear who's got whom on the leash. If you have a dog, know a dog or have ever had one leak on your lawn, you'll laugh out loud at the manner in which these half-humans really do love their way to the top and take over as head of the household.

Funny tales on how Dog kind truly do run the world.......2001-09-19
William Thomas captures the true nature of the Dog/Man relationship. Most espically that relationship between a Border Collie and his human. These animals give unrestricted love and only ask that they be allowed to do anything they please.
And that comes across in this very funny book, it on many occasion made me laugh out loud; and I am sure many of the other guests in my hotel must of thought me insane.
But there is a warning, if like me you used to own a Border Collie (mine died at the age of 16 from a stroke) and have managed to keep the age old promise of the pet owner of never again, then at the end of the book (or even during) you may well be reduced to tears as you reminded of the antics of own beloved and now departed best friend.

Product Description
This book stars Max, Annie and the puppy, Tak. Based on an actual incident, this is the story of what happens when a new puppy joins the Max and Annie family. Annie feels motherly, but Max is mad and sad. He feels he has been replaced. The only way to get everyone's attention and to keep the puppy under his control is to devise a set of rules for the new dog. As usual, Max goes too far and makes up too many rules for his little brother, Tak. Annie steps in and helps everyone in the family appreciate each other, and Max sees his brother in a new light. The book was written in consultation with over 12,000 elementary and middle school students in the midwest and is appropriate for those bringing home a new baby, a new puppy or anyone who wants a good laugh.
Customer Reviews:
Recommended reading for anyone having a new baby .......2004-11-06
Max is a dog who was adopted by a very nice family and who, along with another dog named Annie thought things were just fine -- until the family brings home a puppy called Tak! An unhappy Max lays down a lot of rules to young Tak, rules that don't permit any fun stuff to happen. Until Tak shows Max that the two of them can be friends and have a great deal of rather messy fun together. Charmingly written in a rhyming text by reading specialist Sandra J. Philipson and profusely illustrated by syndicated cartoonist and children's magazine and book illustrator Jenny Campbell, Max's Rules is specifically recommended reading for anyone having a new baby added to their family, those families who are adopting a baby, and those families who are bringing an adopted animal into their home. The additions of enrichment activities including a Readers' Theater, word and vocabulary builders, and writing suggestions, make Max's Rules a particularly appropriate acquisition for school library collections as well.
