Book Description
In all my thirty-five years, I, shoe designer Rochelle Gardner, have never had so many men interested in me! My teen son's dad is back in my life after suffering from amnesia (yes, really). The church deacon has had his eye on me for years (and never said a word). And the young waiter (from the restaurant I've visited for singles' events) is trying to steal my heart. I've been struggling with my faith, trying to figure out which man God has chosen for me and wondering if I have the courage to step forward, on my not-so-pretty feet, to accept love. It's almost too much for the Sassy Sistahood to handle, but my girlfriends always have my back!

If the Shoe Fits.......2007-08-23
This book was extremely slow, the author gave too much empty information however since I had paid my good money I persevered. I will definitely think twice before I purchase this author's books again
This book definitely fits!..........2007-03-07
Ms. Griffith is an amazing wordsmith. I'd been looking forward to this book, "If the Shoe Fits", since finding out about it and after reading "Made of Honor", the first installment in the Sassy Sistahood Series. I must say that I was not disappointed at all and it was well worth the wait!
Ms. Griffith reintroduces us to the lively cast of characters from "Made of Honor". This book focuses on shoe designer and shoe boutique owner Rochelle, best friend on Dana. After years of dedicating her life to her son as a single mother and to her sisters in the online Sassy Sistahood network of prayer and support that she's nurtured, the focus is now solidly on Rochelle. Having gone through a long dry spell in the romance department, not only has the long-absent father of her son returned with a powerful interest in "what could have been" but now additional men, including those whom she has known for a long time without knowing that they have had a romantic interest in her and new acquaintances, have turned her world upside down.
The book takes interesting twists and turns as Rochelle tries to decide which, if any, of these men is the prince that God has sent her. I must say there were times I wanted more details, background and insight into the characters and the decisions they made. However, this was a satisfying and intriguing read. I'll definitely have the next Sassy Sisterhood installment on the wish list!!
The right fit..........2007-02-10
Rochelle gave birth at 17 to a boy she named Jericho. She was in love with his father Jordan, a high school basketball star destined to go on to the professional leagues. Right after the birth of Jericho, he excused himself to the restroom and she didn't see him again for 17 years. Rochelle spent the time making sure her son was raised right. She did not date or even look at another man. Then Jordan showed up in her life again, stirring those feelings. Her son, in spite of all her teachings, got his girlfriend pregnant and Rochelle felt like a failure. She was angry at Jericho and his girlfriend and didn't want them to get married, live together or anything else. Jordan let the young couple live with him.
Rochelle had a singles group at church that she ran with a single man, Tad. She had hidden feelings for him and although they had known each other for ten years, they'd never had a relationship but now he was beginning to make moves. Then there was Shan, the waiter at Ujaama, a club where her internet singles group met. He seemed to be younger than she but Rochelle found him very attractive. At 36, with 17 years of celibacy behind her, Rochelle was ready for a change - but which man? Jordan came on to her but he is engaged to Terri. Tad talked a good game and then there was Shan. Who would she choose? Or would she choose anybody?
Marilyn Griffith's IF THE SHOE FITS is the story of a Christian woman trying to do the right thing. In fact, she tries so hard, she's rather annoying. She not only wants to be like Jesus, she wants to be Jesus, which gets pointed out in the book. Rochelle accepts nothing but perfection from herself, her family and friends. The book gets a little preachy sometimes and is a bit unrealistic. Nobody can be that good and that willing and eager to serve everyone around her at her own expense all the time. Also, would a healthy, living, breathing female being not even think about a relationship for 17 years? Even great Christians have feelings. The characters are well developed even if sometime unreal. It was an easy read.

Another story to make you swoon and think about what really matters..........2007-02-05
At first I wasn't sure if I liked this story more or less than Made of Honor, which was fabulous. Then I decided it didn't really matter. Both stories are unique, though they involve some of the same characters. I enjoyed If the Shoe Fits and was impressed with how the title fit so many aspects of the story. The heroes were divine and for the longest time I wasn't sure who Rochelle would end up with, or who I wanted her to end up with. What a love triangle! At any rate, the ending was very romantic and made my heart swell to capacity. I loved the subtle messages about love, trust, and commitment, and the not-so-subtle message about saving yourself for marriage and the consequences that occur when things are rushed.
There were some really funny one-liners and numerous examples of great characterization. I think one of the things I enjoyed most was the miscommunication and the assumptions that really messed the heroine up. In the end she discovered that her love for the Lord was the most secure thing she knew, and that fearing what God had planned for her life was not God's will. His will was for her to live out her faith. Take risks. Love with no limits. Great chicklit!
Fun fabulous read about learning to let go and love.......2007-02-05
If the Shoe Fits by Marilyn Griffith is a terrific book by an author who is quickly becoming one of my favorites. It's the second in the Sassy Sistahood series, but if you haven't read the first (like me), no worries; it's easy to slide in to Rochelle Gardner's shoes. Rochelle has serious troubles: her son's daddy is back, her Bible study partner from church is making doe eyes at her, and there's a cute waiter at a hot restaurant who's making her heart beat fast. What's a woman to do? Rochelle is so easy to like and relate to; she's like a porcupine: all spines and prickly on the outside, soft and looking for love on the inside. I saw a lot of parallels between this book and Tangerine, the third book in her Shades of Style series. A woman struggling to let go of the past keeps getting pulled back into it, not only by her ex, but also by the decisions her children make. Rochelle's heart careens from man to man as she tries to figure out not what she wants for her life but what the Lord wants for it. God strips layer after layer of Rochelle's control and self-assurance away to expose the real woman inside. This is definitely a laugh out loud, grab the box of tissues kind of book. Griffin writes real people living in a world I would love to inhabit. Diverse, smart, full of God-loving sinners who aren't afraid to admit it. The climactic scene between Rochelle and the man she chooses is rife with palpable emotion. I'm ordering the first Sassy Sistahood book, and can't wait for the next. This writer has an amazing amount of talent, and I'm so glad that the Lord has given me the opportunity to read it. Don't just read this one, read everything she writes!

If the Shoe Fits.......2000-04-03
Chapman presents a myriad of ideas to jumpstart the use of lessons that promote learning through the multiple intelligences. Rather than gearing specific ideas to the gifted or "high" students, this book's premise is that every child is gifted in some way. And while we have intelligences that are stronger than others, it is possible to strengthen the weaker ones. Howard Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences is very well explained. The author details each intelligence in-depth; the first seven as well as the latest naturalist intelligence. Chapman goes further than just theory, however, and gives several lesson plans for each intelligence. These lesson plans are broken down even further into age level distinctions. The book begins by exploring the different intelligences. The author has chosen a shoe to represent each intelligence. This is quite an asset to the visual learner! Not only is it helpful to the teacher, but it is a perfect way to introduce the different intelligences to a class of children. The shoe analagy is the perfect aid to understanding the whole theory. In each chapter Chapman defines each intelligence, what type of student is strong in this intelligence, how to meet the needs of the special student, how to catch this student's attention, what this student's comfort and discomfort zones are, what the global understandings of this intelligence are, how problem solving fits in with this intelligence, as well as activities that promote learning in this intelligence. She also offers blank lesson plan, reflection, and journal templates for teacher use. The graphic organizers are easy to understand and help make sense of it all. This book is definitely reader-friendly. It offers technical terms and material in an understandable way. I especially liked the prepared lesson plans that can be used immediately to aid the teacher in implementing the theory in the classroom.

If not for one thing...........2005-06-20
The book was progressing wonderfully for me, until the author admitted dumping two old pets because it wasn't "convenient" for her to have them anymore because she was going to "sail away." One cat went to an almost certain demise at an animal shelter, another disappeared after being relocated to the woods at a relatives house.
Sailing away can be a very fulfilling way to experience life. But we are already such a throw away society, I cannot condone her actions. If great care can be taken to sell off possessions at garage sales, could not the same care have been taken with finding GOOD homes for two old companions?
Shame on Rae Ellen Lee. I will not be finishing the book.

Leave the mountains and sail off to paradise - not quite.......2002-07-26
A great read. Two people choose to forsake the mountains of Montana and sail around the Caribbean. Great humor and insight into the two different mindsets of sailing. Tom the authors husband has the wild fearless viking outlook while Rae Ellen takes a more sober (when are we going to die?) outlook on the adventure. Her humor is great -the characters they meet along the way are colorful - even the plastic lizard mascot the author adopts adds humor. Though they never make it any further than the San Juan Islands area, the adventures and training for the paradise trip will amaze you. From hair raising docking experiences to holiday meals onboard - the book will entertain you from first to last page.
not a bad book.......2001-10-02
I find it is an honor to be related to this author, believe it or not i am a nephew. For those of you who i am sure did not make it to her book signing here in Priest River Id. the other day, missed out on a good presentation, it was 2 hours, but even interested me. I am not interested in sailing, and i think its a book that is worth the time to read.
Sell your stuff and sail.......2001-08-18
If the Shoe Fits is an authentic story about a husband and wife who sell all their stuff and take up residency on a sailboat in the Pacific Northwest. Their intention is to actually sail this boat. Trouble is, neither one has ever sailed the blue ocean before; they've barely seen the ocean. And, don't let a little thing like fear hold you back either. The story is told through the eyes of author, Rae Ellen Lee, who will tickle your funny bone with common sense humor; paralize your gizzard with her churning fears and stir your heart with matter-of-fact honesty. Author Lee's husband,Tom,is in hot water from the get-go but survives on hard work and a relentless will and desire to put a bone in the Shoe's mouth. If the Shoe Fits is a quick read, which will captivate your interest from the opener and hold you to the end with its irresistible outspokenness.
Messing About with Boats.......2001-08-09
Folks who mess about with boats should enjoy this book about a small town girl from land-locked Idaho (who had only viewed sailboats from a distance) who signs on as First Mate to sail the ocean blue with her husband Tom. They train for a dream trip to the Caribbean by sailing the challenging waters off Western Washington. Even though I plan never, ever to sail off into the sunset on a 37-foot Alberg bluewater cruiser like Rae Ellen Lee, I loved this book.
As I chuckled and navigated through the pages, I read passages to my dearly beloved trying to sail off to sleep. Examples: "When we bought the boat in spring, the spec sheet told us the boat slept seven. This may be true, but only if they're toddlers and leave their diaper bags and moms at home."
And, "Finally Tom yells, `Fall off!' The first time I ever heard this I yelled back, `Don't you dare fall off!' But he means we are ready to sail, to turn slightly away from the direction of the wind; however, I don't know which way to fall off. It seems like I should turn to the right (oh, all right, starboard) ..."
This is really a book about the adventure of making changes and doing it with gusto whatever course you plot in life.
Book Description
If the Shoe Fits: Voices from Cinderella takes a fresh look at an old and favorite story. In thirty-three poems it brings to life not only the voices of well-loved characters, but also voices of characters not usually heard from -- including the glass slipper, without which the story would not have a happy ending. On the stage set by the story we hear each player tell the tale from their point of view, answering the questions that swirl around Cinderella:
Is the ghost of Cinderella's father at peace in the afterlife? What has made Cinderella's stepmother so cruel? Can a rat be as happy as a human? How do the prince's mother and father feel about Cinderella for their son? Does the Magic One's Magic last forever? Do the glass slippers realize how important a role they play in the life of one girl? Is there a quiet someone, with a gentle purr, who is a secret accomplice? And, finally, what does Cinderella herself have to say to us about her own story?
Through the rhythms of Laura Whipple's poetry and the sweeping colors of Laura Beingessner's artwork, Cinderella's story is spun anew for audiences of all ages to celebrate.

Enchanting Retelling of Cinderella through Poetry.......2006-11-19
This book of poetry is, in a word, beautiful from start to finish. The illustrations are breathtaking, and have the look and texture of an oil-painting, which I really enjoy.
The book takes you through the story of Cinderella by utilizing poetry as a way for each character to make their voice heard. In addition to odes to Cinderella and her fair Prince, there are also poems from the jealous and covetous evil step-mother, as well as a hauntingly sad poem from the ghost of Cinderella's father, who mourns the day he made the mistake of bringing her step-mother into their lives.
Fairy-tale lovers and collectors will enjoy adding this beautiful book of poetry, dedicated to one of the most beloved fairy tales of all time, to their extensive collections. Others will enjoy it for the uniqueness and warmth it gives to the tale of "Cinderella".
If the Shoe Fits.......2002-11-09
I came across this book the other day on a book shelf; the cover was interesting so I picked it up. I was so impressed ! I love poetry. It brought to light aspects about the Cinderella saga that I only wondered about as a child. The prince's mother's reaction to this "Cinders-girl"; the sad ghost of Ella's father wandering about with no rest; the deep hurt and jealousy of the step mother; all was just so wonderful. The poetry and heart of L. Whipple really brought this story to life. I actually cried when I read it. The pictures were superb, I especially love the picture of the rat/coachman and his tale.
The garden cat and his telepathic communication with "The Magic-she" (fairy godmother) was divinely esoteric. The rhythm flowed well and the thoughts were unique. I have to say that this book is a real enchantment. If you like poetry, if your children know the story of Cinderella but you would like to give them a bit of reading to ponder upon, get this book. It's a good adult read as well, for both men and women. This is a wonderful book for any library. Thanks Laura Whipple and artist Laura Beingessner for making the world a better place to live with your wonderful talents.
I love this book!.......2002-05-26
I love Laura Whipple's vibrant retelling of the Cinderella story. It's fresh, new and full of ryhthmic enchantment from the cat ("cat is master; cat is cat") to the glass slipper pining for its mate, to the wary rat who becomes a coachman ("where were my whiskers, a-twitching, a-tremble?") The book begs to be read aloud - even sung - alone or in a group. The ending, in which Cinderella addresses her audience, brought tears to my eyes. It told me, "This is not only Cinderella's story, it is yours." Laura Beingessner's accompanying illustrations are as full of magic as the text. All in all, this book is a winner.

Didn't like the main character or the story.......2007-03-08
This is definitely a chic-lit book. I prefer romance novels. The story is about a woman's stresses and indecisions over work, friends and lovers. I didn't admire or like her. Because of her dream job at night, she was doing a poor job at the bank and that bothered me. No integrity. She would make up sicknesses to get out of work at the bank. I wasn't drawn into the story or other characters that much, except for Will, one of her lovers. I didn't laugh. Nothing surprised or delighted me other than having a happy ending. I would not recommend it.
Great chick lit book...........2006-08-07
Paris Jackson has a lot on her plate for one woman. Trying to start up her own shoe company using a product she and her friends developed called Sfoam. A job at a local bank she's not entirely happy at, but she finds her boss attractive. A boyfriend who keeps changing the rules of their relationship, AND an ex-husband who wants her back. Not to mention her mom is now going to random funerals of people she doesn't even know and dating ex cons she finds in the personal ads?
It's enough to make Paris want to run, from everything and everyone.
Great book I enjoyed this one immensly. One of the best chick lit books I've read.
A great book to read .......2006-06-03
I read this book in less than a day because I just could not put it down. I had to know what was going to happen with JWP, Inc., whether Paris was every going to achieve her dreams and see her company succeed, and if all the people in her life truly had her best interest at heart.
I know that this is Chick-lit but there was a lot of real world experience that you can take away from this such as: trust your gut instinct, never give up on your dream but don't be afraid to make adjustment, learn to think with your head and not just with your heart, and sometimes you have to take off the rose colored glasses to really see a person.
I would truly recommend this book, you will not be disappointed.
as much a fine character study as it is a wondeful chick lit tale.......2005-09-30
It looks like PWJ, Inc; the company that is making Sfoam (a cushioning system for running shoes) is going to go belly-up because none of the foot wear companies are willing to give it a chance. Paris Jackson, a runner who created the concept is ready to throw in the towel due to a lack of funds when her ex-husband Greg, a venture capitalist, comes to town five years after he left her one month into their marriage.
Paris has a no commitment relationship with Will, one of the scientists who developed Sfoam but he is very unhappy that Greg is back in town. His possessiveness makes commitment shy Paris back away from him and move closer to Greg while she fantasizes about her boss who is about to fire her because her work at the bank has suffered because of the hours she puts in at PWJ. When Will and Paris officially break off, Greg is there ready to pick up the pieces and help her run the company. Paris has to find out what she needs to make herself happy before she can make any decisions about the firm or the men in her life.
This is as much a character study as it is a chick lit tale. There are many funny scenes as well as serious moments. Readers come too really like and care for the vulnerable protagonist. Stephanie Rowe knows how to grab and keep reader interest as IF THE SHOE FITS is a terrific reading experience. This is an author who makes chick-lit tales deep and enriching novels.

The Perfect Start For A Perfect Series.......2006-11-14
I have all of the Princess School books and all of them are great! I liked If the Shoe Fits because it tells about 4 friends who are princesses and are just like other girls. I love it!!!!!!!
Princess School: If the Shoe Fits.......2006-08-09
I'm 16 and loved this book. My sister (age 10) was reading it and the title caught yy eye so I picked it up. It's really cute and it stresses great values such as indiviuality and friendship. I found that this book made the princesses more like real girls and gives them the opportunity to relate to them better. It was good and I recommend it really for anyone who is a princess at heart.
True, Not Just 4 Kids.......2006-04-22
This book is so good. I'm 12, almost 13, but I like reading fantasy books. I found this book in my school computer lab and started reading it. I hope to read the others. It looks like a book for 6 years old, but it's not. It's great for all ages!
This book is about a girl, Cinderella, who has to deal with her evil stepsisters and stepmother while attending a school, called Princess School. Her two stepsisters attend the school and try to make her life and her classmates' a living hell. Luckily, she meets 3 other girls, Snow, Rapunzel, and Rose, who are the only nice girls from her class. They help her get through her classes while Ella must do all the dirty work at home. Plus, I love the ending!
Familiar Princesses with a twist!.......2005-12-11
This was an awesome book. Like most people, i wish Ella was brunette. I guess disney made her blonde in the movie. My favorite character is Rose, though. They didn't have a whole ton of her. I've read the first three books, but I've started the fourth. When i picked it up, i though i was too old to read it, but i was wrong. It's great for all ages!
The Best One.......2005-10-31
I've read every book in the series and am impatient for 'Thorn in Her Side'. This one is my favourite because Rapunzel's my favourite out of the four girls, and it has a lot of Val/Rapunzel moments. :-)
Book Description
An original take on some favorite nursery rhymes - this is one search for a new house that's bound to be more pleasure than trouble.
There was an old woman
who lived in a shoe.
She had so many children,
she didn't know what to do.
She gave them some broth
without any bread,
Then took them to live
in a new home instead.
Too messy, too woolly, too noisy, too small. Whether it's Humpty Dumpty's wall or Mother Hubbard's cupboard, the old woman (who once lived in a shoe) and her children (who once lived there, too) just can't seem to find a new home big enough for their growing needs. So where will they turn for a cozy night's rest? The perfect place is only a step away -- no moving van required!

Home Sweet Home............2002-09-04
"There was an old woman who lived in a shoe./She had so many children, she didn't know what to do./She gave them some broth without any bread,/Then took them to live in a new home instead..." So begins Alison Jackson's creative and humorous twist on the old classic Women in the Shoe nursery rhyme. The poor woman and her enormous brood try out a myriad of places, including the cat and the fiddle's hat, Humpty Dumpty's wall, Little Miss Muffet's teacup, Old Mother Hubbard's cupboard, and Hickory Dickory Dock's clock, but no place feels right. And so in the end "...If the shoe fits, then wear it," she said to her clan./And she led them right back where this story began..." Ms Jackson's energetic, rhyming, chain of events story is filled with familiar nursery rhyme characters, and little ones will revel in all the fun of identifying old friends and remembering their verses. Karla Firehammer's engaging illustrations, in soft pastel tones, are rich in entertaining details and marvelous facial expressions. Perfect for preschoolers, If The Shoe Fits is a wonderful, fun-filled romp kids will want to read again and again, and is sure to become an instant favorite at your house.

Great surprise ending for kids!.......2000-09-09
Out of Alan and Suzanne's 3 books, this one is my kid's favorite! They were in stitches the first time we read it because of what happens at the end! And even though we have read it many times now, they still giggle when the last couple of pages approach. Great story with good solid morals and a wonderful update on the Cinderella story. :-)
Cinderella II.......2000-02-06
This book has become the favourite of my 5 year old daughter. Why should great fairytales only have one life, this is what happens after Cinderella marries the Prince and has a child of her own and her stepsisters have children of thier own. A very clever extension of the original. Great reading for 4-8 age group.

Book Description
Rigo doesn't like being the youngest brother. He always has to wear his big brothers' hand-me-downs. Plus, his brothers-Hector, Manuel, and Carlos-always seem to lose buttons, rip holes, and wear the clothes out before they get to Rigo! But Rigo's luck changes on his birthday when his mom gives him a pair of shoes. He loves them for their shine and style, but most of all he loves them because they are brand-new. After he outgrows the shoes, and trades them to his uncle for old Mexican centavos, Rigo learns that some hand-me-downs are better than brand-new.

cute family story.......2006-11-17
When you're the youngest brother of 5 sometimes you feel like you're missing out, especially when it comes to clothes and shoes. Rigo forms a close relationship with his uncle all based around a pair of loafers. It is a cute story with some Spanish and slightly exaggerated illustrations about this Mexican American family. My son and I enjoyed reading this together even though he is an only child so far, we saw the love in this family.
