Book Description

EXCUSE ME, YOUR LIFE IS WAITING: THE ASTONISHING POWER OF FEELINGS picks up where most positive thinking books have left off, giving us the rather startling new information that every moment of our lives is governed by our EMOTIONS, not by luck, or hard work, or circumstance, or good thoughts, or visualization.

The material in EXCUSE ME has never been told before, because it was never known before, and clarifies why the majority of us have lived with all-too-empty bank accounts, tough relationships, failing health, and often spiritually unfulfilling lives.

In her upbeat, humorous, and somewhat irreverent style, author Lynn Grabhorn (who increased her income 830% in one year using these principles) shows us how, with this astonishing new data, to turn it all around and create the kind of life we've always dreamed of...not ten years from now, but RIGHT NOW.

5 out of 5 stars ONE OF THE BEST.......2007-10-04

I have spent an entire year devouring books on the Spiritual Laws of the Universe, you name it, ive read it. I am finally understanding the concepts now and my life feels great. I started with This book "Excuse me your life is waiting" then went on the read EVERYTHING (thanks to the recommended reading list on the back page of The Attractor Factor, thanks Joe!!) including many FANTASTIC Authors including Abraham/Hicks, Wayne Dyer, Florence Scovel-Shinn, Ghalil,Mike Dooley. and many many others, and the thing is Lynn gives techniques to incorporate with what All of these Great Great people are teaching. We do have to RAISE OUR VIBRATION, We have to FEEL GOOD. Postitive thoughts/images/feelings will GIVE US positive events/things in our lives. The thing is Lynn gives us WONDERFUL Techniques to use, I have found myself now going back to this book and reading it again and just LOVING it, it is a must must must read (and practice) to compliment your other readings. GOD BLESS YOU LYNN.

3 out of 5 stars Law of Attraction does not work.......2007-10-01

I absolutely love this book, I have read it several times but the entire premise is flawed.

In chapter six she writes that she "hired a salesperson that was more into lack than I was (naturally; that was all I could attract)" and at the bottom of the same page she writes "It was somewhere right around that emotional low when a bunch of my all-too-enthusiastic friends began insisting I look into this material they had gotten hold of about the Law of Attraction".

Those two sentences are contradictory. If the only thing that she could attract was someone focusing on lack, how would it be possible for her to attract her friends that were focusing on abundance. If the Law of Attraction were a law of the universe, as she states, either she would attract one but not the other. She can't have both.

While I love her story and the inspiration of how things can be turned around in one's life at the drop of a hat, I love the explanation that conditions and circumstances are unimportant, and I have no doubt that her experiences were true and that the "suit of well being" where nothing can harm you is possible, I cannot believe that it came about by using the Law of Attraction. It would have been violated for her to get the information to her in the first place.

I believe that what happened was that the Expanded Self, as she calls, just got tired of playing with the situation that it had created and just created a totally different scenario, only it used the Law of Attraction as an excuse to do so, and make her think that the Law of Attraction was responsible for her turnaround when it has no value whatsoever.

5 out of 5 stars A Life-changing Book.......2007-08-30

Once in a few years you come across a book which has a life-changing impact. This is one of them. The changes in my life as a result of reading it are profound. A few months after reading the book, I am still implementing the ideas and manifesting amazing results. In the last twenty or more years I have read an enormous amount of self-help books, many of them dealt with Reality Creation. This books most definitely gets the first prize. If, like me, you have been reading many books and still not experiencing any significant changes in your reality, this book is the biggest present you could give yourself. Buy it and watch the miracles come marching into your life.

5 out of 5 stars Real changes.......2007-08-09

I have already experienced amazing changes and dreams coming true. And having a positive attitude everyday seems to make the day better and people do respond to the positive energy. I particularly liked the way Lynn wrote the book-like she is talking to you. I have suggested this book to my family and friends. Especially those who always seem to only think negatively.

5 out of 5 stars Helped me change my life!.......2007-07-23

This is a wonderful book. It has helped me change the way I view life and how I project those feelings. My life has made a chage for the positive, and I hope to stay on the "positive thoughts" most, if not all of the time.

Book Description

Waiting for Daisy is about loss, love, anger and redemption. It’s about doing all the things you swore you’d never do to get something you hadn’t even been sure you wanted. It’s about being a woman in a confusing, contradictory time. It’s about testing the limits of a loving marriage. And it’s about trying (and trying and trying) to have a baby.
Orenstein’s story begins when she tells her new husband that she’s not sure she ever wants to be a mother; it ends six years later after she’s done almost everything humanly possible to achieve that goal, from “fertility sex” to escalating infertility treatments to New Age remedies to forays into international adoption. Her saga unfolds just as professional women are warned by the media to heed the ticking of their biological clocks, and just as fertility clinics have become a boom industry, with over two million women a year seeking them out. Buffeted by one jaw-dropping obstacle after another, Orenstein seeks answers both medical and spiritual in America and Asia, along the way visiting an old flame who’s now the father of fifteen, and discovering in Japan a ritual of surprising solace. All the while she tries to hold onto a marriage threatened by cycles, appointments, procedures and disappointments. Waiting for Daisy is an honest, wryly funny report from the front, an intimate page-turner that illuminates the ambivalence, obsession, and sacrifice that characterize so many modern women’s lives.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic: Reminds me of "Eat, Pray, Love".......2007-10-03

I thoroughly enjoyed this book-- surprisingly, because I didn't have any personal experience with infertility. I do have many friends and relatives with these experiences, so I was curious to understand more about what they're going through. The author is a brilliant and clever writer-- I loved her "voice"-- it reminded me of Elizabeth Gilbert's "Eat, Pray, Love." She's funny, honest and insightful. This was actually a page-turner-- not what I would have thought for this type of memoir. I LOVED this book and I'm recommending it to all my friends.

3 out of 5 stars Waiting for Daisy .......2007-09-25

This book was difficult to read. Author was cold, hard to connect with and not easy to agree with. Definitely not like-able or personable. Very selfish individual. I hope she raises Daisy to Not be like her.

5 out of 5 stars Highly recommended for those feeling alone or isolated in their fertility journey!.......2007-09-24

This book was a God-send to me in my own painful infertility journey. Peggy's descriptions of her mental states expressed my own, but in ways I could not put words to. From her initial ambivalence about parenthood, to all-consuming obsessions with achieving it, her relations with her husband, and frustrations with fertility specialists, her journey affirmed that I was not alone in my journey. Her sense of humor and wit actually made me giggle a few times and, mostly, helped me feel so much less alone. I would highly recommend this book!!

5 out of 5 stars A wonderful book.......2007-09-19

I read this book all in one evening. I loved every page of it. I have read just about every book on this topic, but no one has described, with such accuracy and eloquence, the trying to conceive journey like Peggy Orenstein. I have not read another book that I feel deals better with this topic, especially in terms of being realistic. Nothing seems forced, her doubts and concerns are so vivid. She states everything that has been swimming around in my head in such a clear and honest way, that it actually helped me to organize my own feelings about this struggle. I would recommend this book to everyone going through infertility, and to everyone who knows someone going through infertility, and to everyone else for that matter. It is beautifully written; touching, but funny; sad, but hopeful. This is a book that everyone will be able to relate to in one way or another.

5 out of 5 stars Poignant, funny, and on-the-mark!.......2007-09-13

Peggy Orenstein's portrayal of a quest for a child in "Waiting for Daisy" is candid and humorous. I enjoyed every chapter of this thought-provoking book. Orenstein's honest eloquence in expressing her feelings throughout her incredible journey moved me so much. Time and time again, I found myself thinking, "I thought I was the only one who felt that way!"

Whether you have ever been through any of Ms. Orenstein's challenges: cancer, infertility, IVF treatments, and adoption attempts, or whether you have simply felt somewhat ambivalent about parenthood.... this book is for you.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Wow!.......2007-07-24

This book has got to be one of the best books I've ever read. It is definitely second in line after the Bible, of course. But this book does incorporate the truths of God's Holy Word. It explains how we must FIRST develop a STRONG relationship with the LORD before we EVER will develop a strong relationship with any one else.
Lady in Waiting proves to continue to be helpful to me as well. I read the book over a year ago and continue to turn back to it for insightful words and references.
If you or someone you know has ever struggled with any relationship, whether it is a family relationship, a friend relationship, a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship, or a marriage relationship, the book will apply to your life; although I believe the authors meant to gear it just to a male/female relationship, it can apply to any relationship in your life.

IT IS A MUST READ!

5 out of 5 stars Truth cuts like a knife.......2007-07-06

I loved this book and the study and meditation guides in the back of the book. The writers speak harshly at times, but truthfully. They are straight forward about what we do as single women. This will cause you to stop and check yourself. It will also force you to be honest with yourself regarding your motives. If you are truly committed to living a Christian life as a single woman, this is definitely a book to purchase.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing book!.......2007-06-04

I first was introduced to this book at the age of 21, and I think it is a fanatastic book. The Lord used it to radically change my perspective of my relationship with Him and of future relationships.

Jones and Kendall walk you through 10 godly characteristics that are displayed in the life of Ruth (from the Bible). Step by step, they show you how you can have a personal, intimate, love relationship with Jesus Christ, who is the Only One who can ever make us complete, satisfied, and content.

Though it is made clear that marriage is not a guarentee for some, we are shown that God promises to bless us if we seek Him first, and allow Him to fulfill us and be our Heavenly Bridegroom.

I would highly recommend this book to any single ladies group of any age.

Also, if you enjoyed Lady In Waiting, you may also like Passion and Purity,: Learning to Bring Your Love Life Under Christs Control by Elizabeth Elliot.

5 out of 5 stars very helpful.......2007-05-17

Our ladies group used this book for book study. we found it to be very biblical and easy to understand. It is espeically helpful for younger single ladies. I will highly recommend this book.

3 out of 5 stars Uncertain.......2007-01-20

I liked this book becuase it showed me that you really need to wait on God's timing for everything. However, I felt like this book was TOOOO religous and I felt like it tried to make me feel guilty for not trying to study the bible intensively. I am a Christian but I am not very religous. I felt like there was too much biblical refrence rather than actual guidance.

Lois Ehlert, beloved illustrator of Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and many other bold, beautiful picture books has outdone herself with this gorgeous (seriously breathtaking) celebration of butterfly metamorphosis. "Out in the fields, eggs are hidden from view, / clinging to leaves with butterfly glue. / Soon caterpillars hatch. They creep and chew. / Each one knows what it must do." As the gentle rhyme unfolds, we turn the small, partial pages that form the larger spread of fabulous foliage in this lush, oversized book. Before our eyes, the eggs turn to caterpillars, the caterpillars to cases, the cases to lovely butterflies. "They pump their wings, get ready to fly, then hungry butterflies head for the sky." The colors become increasingly dazzling, each butterfly springing to life with Ehlert's color-soaked cut-paper magic. Several pages of background material conclude the book, labeling different kinds of butterflies at different stages of development, from the buckeye butterfly to the painted lady to the monarch. A "Butterfly Information" page clearly labels butterfly anatomy and answers basic question about these fascinating fluttery insects, a "Flower Identification" page showcases butterfly-attracting flowers such as the purple coneflower (echinacea), phlox, and lantana, and the last page offers a few pointers on growing a butterfly garden. (Ages 3 to 6) --Karin Snelson

Book Description

Every spring, butterflies emerge and dazzle the world with their vibrant beauty. But where do butterflies come from? How are they born? What do they eat--and how?
With a simple, rhyming text and glorious color-drenched collage, Lois Ehlert provides clear answers to these and other questions as she follows the life cycle of four common butterflies, from their beginnings as tiny hidden eggs and hungry caterpillars to their transformation into full-grown butterflies. Complete with butterfly and flower facts and identification tips, as well as a guide to planting a butterfly garden, this butterfly book is like no other.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Art"full" Wings........2007-06-29

Lois Ehlert takes you on a colorful, intriguing story about the life cycle of a butterfly. Excellent for art students at any level! Text is simple enough for preschoolers and can be enjoyed through the elementary grades. Enjoy this exciting trip through nature and its wonders!

5 out of 5 stars But Where do Caterpillars Come From?.......2006-09-12

This is a beautiful and very clever book. Pages are cocooned within larger pages, with individual illustrations blending seamlessly into the background illustrations. Like the natural world itself, this book rewards the patient observer, with rich details on the surface and others folded in more subtly. Your kids will be focused in on a little book within the big book, as the caterpillar goes on its journey. It makes the launch to the story within the bigger background pages all the more dynamic, striking as the shift from Kansas to Oz.

It starts with the eggs "hidden from view,/ clinging to leaves with butterfly glue." As we turn the pages of a little book enshrouded in the bigger book, we see the caterpillars hatch, "each one knows what it must do," and we follow the path to metamorphosis. Ultimately, the reader will be rewarded with multiple beautiful butterflies launching up towards the sky, a nice Lepidopterian metaphor for the developmental adventures in store for our little ones. It's a good job of story-telling when we know exactly where the story is going but still find ourselves awestruck.

Finally, as if Ms. Ehlert hadn't done enough, we get several pages at the end on butterfly identification, with information on colors, wingspans shown in actual size, the corresponding caterpillars that precede the butterflies, and the like. We get flower information, and then tips on growing your own butterfly garden. Nice stuff.

Get this book, drill it for a few night-night times, and then take your toddlers to a butterfly pavilion to see the real deal. Good times.

5 out of 5 stars Color,color,color!.......2006-03-20

As usual, Lois Ehlert stimulates and educates the young reader about the mysteries of caterpillars to butterflies. Not only are the colors absolutely stunning, she provides factual information about different species. This book was a fabulous preparation for my classroom of small children as they watched their own caterpillars prepare for their magical transformation!

5 out of 5 stars A Life's Journey.......2005-07-27

Waiting for Wings is a picture book showing the life cycle of a butterfly. The story uses tantalizing pictures and simple words to explain how a caterpillar becomes a butterfly. The book takes the reader through the stages of the caterpillar's life. Once the caterpillar has become a butterfly the story changes to how a butterfly lives its life. The illustrations pull the reader into this book. The print is large and easy to read for young reader. The text also rhymes for two pages at a time. As the caterpillar grows the pages become larger, until the butterfly hatches. As the butterfly begins its flight the pages are full size. The illustrations and page sizes are wonderful for young readers. This book also contains identification pages on butterflies and the flowers they eat.

5 out of 5 stars Toddlers and Babies, too!.......2004-05-24

I have a three year old daughter who must be read to before sleeping. I also have a three month old baby girl who is often in the bed with us while we read. Often, the baby is restless and cries before we finish our books. Waiting for Wings is a fabulous solution. I find this interesting AND educational for my toddler. In addition, the colors are bright and contrasting, allowing my baby to be entertained while the book is read.

Book Description

A beautifully packaged book of spiritual ruminations with a progressive political edge, from the incomparable Pulitzer Prize-winner—a woman who has devoted her life to befriending the earth.

From the Introduction: "In fact, the happiness that imbues this kind of (impersonal) friendship, whether for an individual or a country, or an act, is like an inner light, a compass we might steer by as we set out across the lengthening darkness. It comes from the simple belief that what one is feeling and doing is right. That it is right to protect rather than terrorize others; right to feed people rather than withhold food (and medicine); right to want the freedom and joyful existence of all human kind. Right to want this freedom and joy for all creatures that exist already, or that might come into existence. Existence, we are now learning, is not finished! It is a happiness that comes from honoring the peace or the possibility of peace that lives within one's own heart. A deep knowing that we are the earth—our separation from Earth perhaps our greatest illusion—and that we stand, with gratitude and love, by our planetary Self.

Author of the perennially bestselling novel The Color Purple, Alice Walker has long been a force for sanity in a chaotic world. In We Are the Ones We Have Been Waiting For she draws on her deep spiritual grounding, her political conviction and experience, and her literary gifts to offer a series of meditations filled with wisdom, hope, encouragement, and, at times, serenity to a world in need of all these things. The perfect gift for Alice Walker fans and anyone who longs for peace, on earth and within, this lovely volume will be embraced for its wise insights and mature compassion.

A friend of mine gave me this book and I read it in 2 days. Loved it! I find that Alice Walker can share some of the most horrendous stories that have been done to her people, and yet, I as the reader, come away, feeling as though there is still hope for us as human beings, and most of all hope for myself in becoming the best
that I can be. So appreciate her gifted writing.

I purchased this after hearing an on-air interview of Alice Walker by Amy Goodman on Pacifica Radio and enjoyed the journey through these essays. I encourage those intrigued by the title to take the plunge and buy it. We are the ones we have been waiting for, and it is helpful at times to have someone light the way in a time of darkness.

5 out of 5 stars Opening one's eyes and heart.......2007-04-21

I normally don't pay much attention to the Editorial Reviews, but the review from Publishers Weekly has to be the lamest review I have ever read. It seems as if this reviewer has broken down this book in order to fit into some sort of actuarial table or spreadsheet. I originally took this book out of the library because of the essay about her and address to Black Yoga Teachers in the current issue of "The Shambhala Sun." I was stunned by Ms Walker's grasp of the overwhelming interconnectedness of seemingly paradoxical forces of energy that we create and create the life around us. Issues such as knowledge, kindness, compassion, the persistence of evil, the necessity of nonviolence, the love of the utter importance of the Feminine element in the life of the world. Of contradictions like Castro who, despite the rigidness of his regime, articulates the true needs of the majority of people in the world. She is eloquent in her meditations on silence, on simplicity, on the values of personal "neighborliness", for lack of a better word, on the intrinsic sacredness of the earth and each other. I cannot praise this book enough. I got it from our library and am now buying my own personal copy to treasure and scribble in.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome prose.......2007-02-03

Ms. Walker is an awesome writer. I became addicted to her writing after reading this one. She has down to earth insight, a very thoughtful way of looking at things. This is a must-read for anyone concerned with world violence, oppression, human degradation, poverty, global warming, as well as other issues. It's full of hope.

Book Description

"Have mercy on me, Lord, I am Cuban." In 1962, Carlos Eire was one of 14,000 children airlifted out of Cuba -- exiled from his family, his country, and his own childhood by the revolution. The memories of Carlos's life in Havana, cut short when he was just eleven years old, are at the heart of this stunning, evocative, and unforgettable memoir.

Waiting for Snow in Havana is both an exorcism and an ode to a paradise lost. For the Cuba of Carlos's youth -- with its lizards and turquoise seas and sun-drenched siestas -- becomes an island of condemnation once a cigar-smoking guerrilla named Fidel Castro ousts President Batista on January 1, 1959. Suddenly the music in the streets sounds like gunfire. Christmas is made illegal, political dissent leads to imprisonment, and too many of Carlos's friends are leaving Cuba for a place as far away and unthinkable as the United States. Carlos will end up there, too, and fulfill his mother's dreams by becoming a modern American man -- even if his soul remains in the country he left behind.

Narrated with the urgency of a confession, Waiting for Snow in Havana is a eulogy for a native land and a loving testament to the collective spirit of Cubans everywhere.

Download Description

"In 1962, at the age of eleven, Carlos Eire was one of 14,000 children airlifted out of Cuba, his parents left behind. His life until then is the subject of Waiting for Snow in Havana, a wry, heartbreaking, intoxicatingly beautiful memoir of growing up in a privileged Havana household -- and of being exiled from his own childhood by the Cuban revolution. That childhood, until his world changes, is as joyous and troubled as any other -- but with exotic differences. Lizards roam the house and grounds. Fights aren't waged with snowballs but with breadfruit. The rich are outlandishly rich, like the eight-year-old son of a sugar baron who has a real miniature race car, or the neighbor with a private animal garden, complete with tiger. All this is bathed in sunlight and shades of turquoise and tangerine: the island of Cuba, says one of the stern monks at Carlos's school, might have been the original Paradise -- and it is tempting to believe. His father is a municipal judge and an obsessive collector of art and antiques, convinced that in a past life he was Louis XVI and that his wife was Marie Antoinette. His mother looks to the future; conceived on a transatlantic liner bound for Cuba from Spain, she wants her children to be modern, which means embracing all things American. His older brother electrocutes lizards. Surrounded by eccentrics, in a home crammed with portraits of Jesus that speak to him in dreams and nightmares, Carlos searches for secret proofs of the existence of God. Narrated with the urgency of a confession, Waiting for Snow in Havana is an both an exorcism and an ode to a paradise lost. More than that, it captures the terrible beauty of those times in our lives when we are certain we have died -- and then are somehow, miraculously, reborn. "

5 out of 5 stars Exhilarating and painful.......2007-09-27

I left Cuba -with my parents- at the age of eight in 1963. Although my exile experience was much less trumatic than Dr. Eiré's, his depiction of life in that place at that time, seen through the eyes of a child, awakened so many emotions, dormant in my conciousness for so many years! What some reviewers have deplored as aimless ramblings bring me as close as I will ever come to a long conversation with a lost childhood friend, with all the complicity of shared experiences. The familiar sights, the smells, the terrors, real and surreal -I still am both terrified and eerily fascinated by lizards, specially the Cuban anolí, which changes colors to match its surroundings, the magic all around me in those days, Catholic school, birthday parties, fear for your life, shameful mischief... I laughed harder than I had in years and also cried too real tears!

I visited Cuba about four years ago, to witness the death of a family member who meant very much to me during my childhood. Despite the tragic circumstances and the terrible destruction of my little town, I unexpectedly felt an overwhelming peace and sense of "home" which I would not have inmagined until then, having left so young. I don't recall having slept better in many years before or since. I discovered that there is a part of our being that does not travel. I left it in Placetas when I went away and there it was, intact, waiting for me. And there it stayed again.

I thank Dr. Eiré with all my heart for having brought me as close as it can be to that profusely bleeding chunk of who I am, which will never be in my present address.

Another Cuban boy.

5 out of 5 stars Hightly recommended.......2007-09-19

This book was Great! I believe every person who struggled to get to the US to find freedom would enjoy this book. Eventhough I came much later in life, i believe his accounts really hit home with what i remember.

3 out of 5 stars Lots of hype, but still a pretty good read.......2007-07-18

Wonderful delivery of characters throughout the book, but Eire's relentless weaving of timelines was distracting. It was almost incoherent or redundant at times, rambling from one period to another. I also had a little difficulty understanding the "wistful" invocation of philosophical and spiritual jargon throughout the book.

Despite the distractions, a good read for the first few hundred pages. Probably could have dropped a hundred easily.

5 out of 5 stars Getting to know a Pedro Pan.......2007-06-25

During my career I have worked with and developed close friendships with several Cuban Americans, including two "Pedro Pans" - one of whom is currently a US Ambassador to an important European country. I could never quite imagine what life might have been like for them as boys in Cuba and how their lives were turned upside down. Their resilience has been an inspiration.

Eire's book, mentioned to me by a former high school English teacher, answers many of my questions far better than I could have hoped. It is a literary masterpiece that provides anthropological insights about the life of the privileged under Batista. Remarkably Eire does not whitewash this era - he makes it clear that the sons of Batista, of his chief torturer, and of upper class professionals enjoyed privileges unavailable to most. He admits to serial shop-lifting as a boy and the materialism that made birthday parties stressful events. But it came to a sudden end when Castro took power and banned Christmas, persecuted his opponents, and caused families to send their children abroad.

Over the weekend I had a conversation with someone whose family fled Tehran after the ouster of the Shah. Somehow her stories were evocative of Eire describing Cuba under Batista.

5 out of 5 stars I am without words.......2007-06-20

Nothing I can say can do this book -- and Dr. Eire -- justice. I read this book on a (Cuban-American) friend's recommendation. I knew very little about Cuba or Castro. I have never been so moved by a book in my life. This is a must-read for everyone on the planet.

2 out of 5 stars Persuading Book Buyers A Cat Can Bark.......2007-09-19

In terms of selling "themselves" and why you might want to use their services, this book barks loud. In terms of persuasive customer techniques, this book is a bit light on real content.

A good book on how to truly engage customers is Lois Kelly's "Beyond Buzz: The Next Generation of Word of Mouth" marketing. She understands customers don't ignore marketing, rather they demand marketing that has meaning and engages them authentically. Beyond Buzz: The Next Generation of Word-of-Mouth Marketing

1 out of 5 stars Two Hundred Page Brochure for Consulting Service.......2007-07-29

Nearly every business book has at least one or two good ideas. However, every so often you get a book that's really just a piece of what's often called Spiral Marketing. Sprial Marketing is a technique in which you use a book, pamphlet, website or other low-cost entry point to capture an initial group of customers. Although you make some profit on the initial entry point, the main goal of that entry is to get you to purchase the next level, usually a set of videos or seminar. There is profit built into this second level as well, but even that's just a front to capture the big fish into longer term consulting. This book contains a smattering of theories, concepts and ideas (most of which are lifted from other sources such as Maslow, MBTI and general advertisting), accompanied by some professional looking illustrations. You have to admire the way it is able to continually flirt with the answers while never quite giving them away - you'll have to commit to the $150 consulting fees for that. And if you are interested in the consulting, I'll save you some money on that as well. Judging from the almost immediate mentions of Yahoo keywords, the foreward from a Yahoo executive and the $50 credit towards the service I'm guessing Yahoo keywords is pretty much the heart of what they call "Persuasion Architecture."

2 out of 5 stars Poor writing style.......2007-07-14

There's some useful info in there, like how to categorize your customers. But the writing style is poor, hard to understand, and boring. Seems like these authors are trying to become marketing legends by pushing some new "revolutionary" concept of theirs, but it's nothing special.

2 out of 5 stars I prefer Call To Action by the same authors.......2007-05-19

I think that Call to Action is better than that, and the content is almost 60% the same.
Honestly, buy Call to Action by the same authors on behalf of that.

1 out of 5 stars Don't waist your time on ads.......2007-05-15

Have you ever seen a movie, when you see & wait that something gonna happen and it never happens till the end? That's the "Waiting for you cat to bark?" is about.
There are lots of the background information - ideas and developments of Hippocrates, Myers-Briggs, Freeman, Frank Lloyd Wright and Sir Tim Berners-Lee; BMW ,Best Buy and other big companies marketing experiences; left brain and right brain responsibilities, etc. etc.

There are lots of well known ideas, like think about your customers, see your business from your customers point of view, provide good service, provide relevant information, measure a campaign effect etc. etc.

There are lots of marketing complexity examples, that make you feel like "oh my God, who can get all this"?

I tried my best to follow the line and split potential clients into smaller groups I may treat in a very special way, according to the book advices. The only point is the book does not give any practical idea about all those ideas implementation. Not a single one! There is nothing you can do coming back to your office after reading this book.

What it has? Plenty of "we do this" and "persuasion architecture". This book is one big advertisement you paid for. We developed, we understand, we compared, according to our experience, persuasion architecture we've invented, etc. etc and it's endless!

The only conclusion a reader is suppose to do according to authors is to admire persuasion architecture, realize that just genius can deal with this and apply to Future Now to let those sophisticated guys to do their job! Don't get me wrong, there is a good chance Future Now people know how to make you reach and can help you out, but I would not recommend to buy the printed ad and spend time on reading.

I'll give a chance to "Call to Action" I purchased together with "Waiting for you cat to bark?". I truly hope I can find something useful there and if not, sorry Bryan and Jefferey, your books are out of my book shelf.

Book Description

Coral Castle sits on Key West Highway in Homestead, Florida. It was built by a Latvian immigrant with a fourth grade education named Ed Leedskalnin. Jilted on the eve of his wedding in 1912to Agnes Scuffs, the only girl he ever loved, Ed was crushed by her rejection (which she never completely explained to him) and he came to south Florida after traveling around Canada, Texas and California.

Ed was found at night, passed out on a dirt road by a passerby in 1918. Ed was later diagnosed with terminal tuberculosis. The attending doctor told Ed, "Your body is eaten up with tuberculosis--I don't even know how you've made it this far--you have four months to live--maybe six months if you're lucky."

Ed stayed in the home of Herman Harmless where he regained some of his strength. He expressed a desire for some land, a local farmer felt sorry for him and gave him some worthless land that was covered by one inch of top soil and underneath this was four thousand feet of solid coral. The man told Ed the land "was worthless unless you want to farm coral rocks. This was exactly what Ed planned to farm.

Ed went to a junkyard and fashioned his own tools from discarded automobile parts. Ed only worked from midnight to sunrise so no one ever could see how he cut and moved huge blocks of jagged coral (Ed's largest stone weighed 30 tons) and formed them into today's Coral Castle.

This book describes in detail why Ed left his home in Latvia (one of the Baltic States near Russia) came to Florida and built Coral Castle at the edge of the Florida Everglades. It also explores a popular theory of how Ed might have cut and moved stones heavier than those of the Great Pyramid. The true secret of this lost science can never be known, it went into the grave with Ed when he died in a Miami hospital in the same year that I was born, 1951.

When asked how he built Coral Castle, Ed smiled and said, "I know the secret of the Great Pyramid." When asked why he built it, Ed looked off admiringly over the Atlantic Ocean, in the direction of his beloved Latvia and said, "I built it for Agnes--she's coming back to me one day, but I don't know when; until she comes, I'm waiting for Agnes."

5 out of 5 stars Awesome Book on the Secrets of Earth-Magick !.......2006-12-11

The book is about the life and lost love of Edward Leedskalin. He was a Lativan emigrant ,who settled south of Miami,on the swampland edge,at Homestead,Florida.Ed bought some of the marshland long before Disney's engineers built their own 'Magic-castle' just nearby. Ed was able to 're-discover' the ancient art of stone levitation.A lost practice perhaps known by such legendary figures as Stonehenge's Merlin and the builders of the Great Pyramids of Giza.Modern engineers can only loosely speculate, and yet still today, can not verify the true building methods used.Ed Leedskalin was able to utilize this forgotten skill and never told a soul about his secret engineering methods.Ed probably felt that the stone-secrets would be revealed to other 'chosen ones',by heavenly visiting builders. What amazed me most was that a few select global people with those "almond-oriental shaped eyes" ,may be the decendants of an ancient space-traveling group of beings. They were the 'chosen ones' ,who were and are skilled in advanced concepts of Nature and the ways of the Universe.Could Ed Leedskalin have been one of these extra-territorial time-travelers? Was the story of his "sweet sixteen" lost love just a cover for his plan to build advanced engineered stone monuments ,so the humaniod transplants could track celestrial movements and commune with mother-ship UFOs ? There are many excellent ,funny and some heart-breaking personal stories presented throughout. If you want to be one of the few informed reading people ,seperate from the ignorant public masses, then read this enlightening book!

It always facinated me how the greatest individuals are very often the least known, and usually poor as well. It's not surprising though, in these days of deceit and deception, that people dismiss or ridicule the one person who may hold some REAL ANSWERS to lifes mysteries. Here is one. Get this book. If you have anything resembling an open mind you will be inspired to look deeper into the age old suppression of the great truths of life that continues to this day. I mean, does anyone still believe the government version of 9-11? Anyway, this book is available at waitingforagnes.com for 25 bucks plus postage.

5 out of 5 stars "Waiting for the Movie!".......2003-05-10

The secrets of Atlantis, Stonehenge, the Great Pyramid, the Sphinx and the Bermuda Triangle, to name a few, were fully understood by only one man in the last century, Ed Leedskalnin! So why has so little been written about a man with a fourth-grade education who could move blocks of coral weighing over three-thousand pounds...and do so using only the most rudimentary tools? Why do we not have access to volumes of information about an individual who could (and did) devise an apparatus capable of powering an automobile without the utilization of fuel, oil or water? And why, given the fact that Mr. Leedskalnin proved his abilities to the world, were scientists, historians, mathematicians, archaeologists and astronomers not beating his door down in an effort to ascertain his secrets?

While we may never know the answers to these questions, one man has devoted his entire life to telling the story of the mystical, magical world of Ed Leedskalnin! In this magnificent work of literary genius, Joe Bullard has succeeded in shedding a multitude of light on the astonishing, astounding and often delightfully entertaining existence that was Ed's life. With a writing style that draws the reader in from the very first sentence to the very last word, Joe Bullard captures the life and times of a human enigma.

Ed Leedskalnin was the personification of the `living legend.' His innermost essence is portrayed in such a manner that the reader ends their journey feeling as though they have met Ed and shared in his life first-hand. Jilted on the night before his wedding by Agnes Scuffs, a teenage girl some ten years his junior, Ed left his homeland and ultimately settled in Florida. With a love that transcended the bounds of space and time, Ed continued to pine for his "Sweet Sixteen," and ultimately devoted the remainder of his life to erecting a timeless tribute to his former fiancée. `Coral Castle,' as it is commonly referred to, still stands today in Homestead, Florida. Having eventually been converted to a museum, thousands of people annually visit this man-made creation that continues to defy modern science and technology.

With a perfect blend of mystery, mysticism, science, romance and sheer wit, this book is a page-turner without equal. Joe Bullard spent fifteen-years avidly researching Ed Leedskalnin's life prior to writing this awe-inspiring accounting. As I read, I came to wonder if perhaps Ed's spirit hadn't guided the author in some way as he wrote. When I finished "Waiting for Agnes," I felt as though I had been made privy to some of the best-kept and most desired secrets of all time.

Clearly, until modern man is willing to reach beyond the limits he has set for himself, and to study the work of men like Ed Leedskalnin; we are doomed to recreate history over and over again. Ed proved to the world, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that he knew the secrets of the Great Pyramid and Stonehenge, yet the greatest minds of our time have failed to acknowledge the fruits of his labor.

This book is highly recommended to anyone who truly enjoys an excellent, thought-provoking work of literature. In my opinion, it should be considered `mandatory reading material' in all secondary schools. In truth, I could have written an entire book just reviewing Joe Bullard's exceptional literary creation. "Waiting for Agnes" is an unexpected treat in every sense of the word. FIVE STARS!

Pros: Flows well, believable, well-defined plot, well-described characters, informative and entertaining.

Book Description

Love that lasts forever is the kind worth waiting for.

Taylor Moore is an artist. With the bold colors of her palette, she gives life to her passionate memories of Jake Farrell. It's been ten long years since the dark-haired, green-eyed football player left town. In that decade, Taylor has been married to and divorced from the bitter man who always stood between them.

After all this time, she still aches with hunger for that ruggedly beautiful boy from her past, unable to love another. But when Jake suddenly comes home, all grown up and claiming to have returned for her, Taylor's not buying it. She's more than ready to trust the gorgeous man with her body, allowing his dominant sexuality full control; she just refuses to trust him with her heart.

But Jake's been waiting a lifetime for this woman, and he's not about to accept half-measures. He wants her full surrender, and Taylor must finally find the courage to stop waiting for it—and start living for love.

5 out of 5 stars Hot, hot, hot.......2007-07-05

I have *got* to get more books by this woman - Rhyannon Byrd. The pages are practically on fire! A warning - the book is ALL sex with love thrown in, and the sex is described in graphic detail. I don't mind that, though, and I read this book in one session. Her characters are more real than many other auto-erotic authors, too.

1 out of 5 stars Waiting For It.......2007-02-12

I have been reading romance novels for about 25 years and this is the worst book I have ever read. I have written only one other half hearted review, but I really felt compelled to save other readers from my $9.99 error. This is not a romance, nor is it erotica, it is just trash. Not trashy, just trash. There is plenty of sex, but not really hot sex. I mean having someone tell you they want to F-you, they can't wait to F-you and then when they get to F-ing, because that's what they do in this book, all of the ramming and cramming just made me writhe in imagined pain. Hated it.

5 out of 5 stars Very satisfying erotic romance.......2007-01-04

The love story of Taylor and Jake really touches the reader. Their love survives a long separation and when Jake returns to his home town to claim Taylor, she can hardly believe he's actually com back for her. At the most she thinks he just wants really hot sex with her. But over the coiurse of thier few days together, he is able to cinvince her that his heart wants her just as much as his body does. This is a book you can read again and again.

5 out of 5 stars Hot! Steamy! Sexy!.......2006-07-20

What more could you ask for? I loved this book. Between Against the Wall and this one I can't say which one I like more. The author has a true talent to have awesome sex and great characters. I loved Jake - Hot, Sexy, Understanding Taylor hang ups, and so in LOVE. If that's not hot I don't know what is. And poor sweet insecure Taylor. She was just as in love as Jake but circumstances kept them apart (you'll just have to read the book).

I thought they had a great connection and awesome chemistry.I read all the reviews and feel I have to respond to one negative review - What is wrong with great sex in erotica romance - I thought thats why we read it and as for the sex page after page and the characters having nothing else in common and not knowing each other besides the bedroom - They had history together since high school if thats not knowing each other I don't what is. Great book!

5 out of 5 stars HOT!!!!!!!!!!!.......2006-05-23

I ordered this book in January, along w/ Miss Byrd other book 'Up against the wall' it was not as good as others had written in the review, So when I finally had a free time, I pulled out the copy of 'Waiting for it' and let me tell you oh my goodness this book is so hot, and the sex scene sizzling, I had to turn on my air. Taylor was one lucky girl, I can tell you that, and it was kind of romantic, if her other books are as good as this one then I will continue to buy from her.

5 out of 5 stars Great book for toddlers.......2007-10-04

So I was concerned that my 21 month old daughter would get bored with this book. We have had it for almost a week, and she loves it! The bright pictures are wonderful and since it has no words, the parent can make up their own story or point out other things. Since the story is changing each time, I think it is less boring for both the child and the parent reading it. I think it's more interactive and intersting in that sense.

And yes, sometimes the character is not going to completely match each reader's situation, but I think they are general enough to be helpful. I like it that the child can look either like a boy or a girl. I also like it when the child is feeding her/himself while the mother is watching and relaxing.

It is great to show how the older sibling is going to be involved and this book really captures the special time for both parents and child.

GREAT BOOK, highly recommend! Our daughter makes us read it 4 or 5 times every night!

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful book!.......2007-10-02

At first I was dismayed that this book was only illustrations, without a story. Now, however, I absolutely love it. We have named all of the characters pictured after our family members and we also gave the name of the OB in the book the name of my OB. It has really let us personalize the process of mommy being pregnant for our child. Very nice!

5 out of 5 stars great for toddlers.......2007-09-15

My daughter loves this book. She is only 20 months old, so she really doesn't get the idea that mommy is having another baby, but this let's us tell stories with the pictures!

5 out of 5 stars Good gift.......2007-08-27

Gave this to my neice who is expecting a sibling soon. She loves the book

2 out of 5 stars A Picture Book.......2007-07-17

I bought this and "My New Baby" for my son when I was expecting his first sibling. I was unhappily surprised to find they did not have words, just pictures. That definitely should be part of the product description.
It isn't too hard to make up a story, but if I would have known it was lacking words I never would have bought it.
