Joshua Harris follows up his bestselling I Kissed Dating Goodbye with Boy Meets Girl, the story of how he met and married his wife, Shannon. Where Harris's first book encouraged readers to throw off modern ideas of romantic fixation, Boy Meets Girl goes to the next level and urges single Christian men and women to pursue courtship, and ultimately marriage, thoughtfully and prayerfully. Knowing that many readers will balk at the idea of premeditated courtship, Harris insists that dating should not be emotional recreation but rather a careful decision rooted in obedience to God. While the anecdotes used to reveal true-to-life scenarios about dating pitfalls are somewhat elementary (and geared to those in their 20s), Harris succeeds in hammering home the point that obedience to God's word, selfless love, community, purity, and satisfaction in God are the most important aspect of any relationship. The last section of the book is particularly practical, discussing forgiveness of past sexual sin, questions to ask before tying the knot, and how an understanding of our sinful nature can lead to conflict resolution. For Harris's mere twentysomething years of life experience, his maturity and devotion to God are sincere evidence that he has indeed practiced what he has preached, resulting in a passionate relationship with the love of his life. --Jill Heatherly

New! Courtship Conversations
Eight ideas for great dates that will help grow and guide your relationship.
Story Behind the Book
âI wrote I Kissed Dating Goodbye to challenge singles to drop the worldly approach to serial dating and reconsider the way they pursued romance in light of God’s Word. Since then, I’ve received letters asking questions like, So, what comes between friendship and marriage? and, How can you know when you are ready for marriage? Boy Meets Girl answers those questions. Now as a happily married man I can look back on my courtship with Shannon and see from personal experience that God is faithful. If you trust Him enough to wait on romance in dating, He will lovingly guide you as you pursue it in courtshipâ¦right to that wonderful moment when you kneel together at the altar.â â Joshua Harris

Healthy, biblical, sensible, christian suggestions for pure relationships.......2007-09-03
This book is worth your time spent reading it. If you are a Christian and you wonder just how to have a pure relationship, in a world where there seem to be few, I recommend it.
This is an easy reader that runs smoothly, well written and well laid out. This is a young brother speaking to his fellow men and women about his own testimony of relationships, and what he has learned. He doesn't give a set of rules, but gives beautiful guidelines and counsels (and practical ones, more than only: 'Date Christians and don't have sex before marriage! Period!'). He is well aware that there is no 'one size - fit all' when it comes to relationships.
The red line that runs through it all is, that God is the creator of romance and longs for his children to experience it. That to live to the glory of God is to live for him, his way and reflecting him - even in our way of relationships.
Some might find faults with chapter 7 and find it to be a patriarchal, or narrow minded - but what I like about it is that he does call us men to stop being the wimps we have become in this age and be real men!
I found this a challenging book. When I read that "We glorify God in our relationships when we put our needs aside and base our decisions on what serves the interests of the other person" (Pg 36) - I was challenged! That might mean asking yourself, 'Is starting this relationship now what's best for her?' And that is a question passion many times does not allow to be asked. Therewithal this is a romantic book, the story in chapter 3 was wonderful, and a beautiful testimony of the rewards of thoughtful, selfless relationships. Chapter 10 'When your past comes knocking' is also precious and valuable for dealing with past errors in former relationships.
For us in Europe (or other places where the dating game is not played), this book is more practical then 'I kissed dating goodbye'. For who doesn't want the perfect relationship? Who says it is a myth and non-getter today? I think there is a reason for why most girls have fantasied about there wedding since they were small girls... for it is there inborn wish for a good relationship and marriage, and may it also be their fortune.
Go and look at the chapter's titles on the table of contents, they will give you the best overview of the contents of the book.
Say Hello to Courtship.......2007-03-28
As a young adult in my 20's, within marriageable age, this was a wonderful book. I think this was better than "I Kiss Dating Goodbye" that it addresses to people a bit older and the writing is much more mature in this one since Joshua Harris has acquired a bit more wisdom on this matter. Again, I do not agree with some things mentioned in this book (it could be a bit more conservative), but overall, a good book. I really like how it addresses what singles should be doing such as: wait on the will of God, do His work while you are single right now, prepare yourself for marriage by serving those in need.
I've recommended to many of my friends with marriage on their minds at the moment. Nothing was really new in that these have been addressed to me in the past, but it's a wonderful reminder.
Awwww, too cute!.......2007-03-17
My husband and I read this together while we were dating. It helps get your mind going in the right direction to have a wonderfully healthy courtship. Ironically, I finished reading "I kissed dating goodbye" just a week before I met my husband. So of course I recommend reading that one, too!
A bit disappointing.......2007-01-22
I was really enjoying this book and then I read the sad chapter about Shannon's past. It just broke my heart and made me cry. However, I felt more admiration for Joshua Harris, although I'll always think he kinda let himself down.
great book!.......2007-01-20
This book is incredibly well-written. My husband and I read it while dating and engaged and it brought out a lot of good things in our relationship that we may have struggled through blindly otherwise. I've passed it on to a few friends already and plan to continue to do so.

Truly a chef-as-star cookbook, Bobby Flay's Bobby Flay's Boy Meets Grill features 26 photos of the man himself (not counting hand shots and various belt buckles). His name, either as Bobby Flay or Bobby Flay's, is repeated over 260 times within 274 pages. No reader will ever doubt just whose cookbook lies open on the kitchen counter with 125 "bold new" recipes.
Though there's the unspoken suggestion that Bobby Flay invented fire, Bobby Flay's Boy Meets Grill actually follows in a long tradition of outdoor cookery books, starting with James Beard's take on the subject, the many contributions of Chris Schlesinger and John Willoughby, who truly opened wide the door to modern grilling, Phillip Stephen Schulz's Cooking with Fire and Smoke, and the remarkable Barbecue! Bible put together by Steven Raichlen that takes grilling global--to name just a few.
But Bobby Flay does have flair and he does have enthusiasm, and both show up on every page. In chapters that cover everything grillable--from burgers (they may be turkey, they may be tuna) to poultry to meat, vegetables, and fruit--Flay pushes hard on combinations of colors and textures, spices and flavors sure to excite the sleepiest palate on the beach. Check out a standard like Butterflied Chicken with Lemon, Garlic, and Basil, or something a little more exotic like Whole Lobster Smothered in Cascabel Chile Butter. What is the thought of Grilled Pork Loin Sandwiches with Spicy Mango Ketchup doing to your taste buds right about now?
The main caveat for these recipes: all are written to serve eight. And be sure to use common sense instead of some of the directions, such as cooking chopped garlic and shallots until soft in "almost smoking" hot oil, for four to five minutes. Hello. Where does soft stop and incinerated begin? --Schuyler Ingle
Book Description
The owner of two of New York Citys most popular restaurants and star of two Television Food Network cooking shows, Bobby Flay is definitely hot. Now he invites readers into his own backyard to show off his skill at the grill, and hell grill just about anything! Here are more than 125 recipes for mouth watering meat, poultry, and fish dishes, as well as soups and salads that can be prepared partially or completely on the grill. In addition, Flay offers up his own rendition of the perfect burger. Grilling has long been one of the great North American pastimes. Bobby Flay shows why its becoming a national obsession.

Great Cookbook!.......2007-07-08
My husband loves to cook and grill and this is by far one of his favorite and most practical cookbooks.
great recipes and fun to read!.......2006-08-19
This is my son's favorite tv chef; I bought this for him for his birthday, and right away made several recipes, that all worked perfectly (often they do not!) The flavors were interesting and the directions clear and helpful. The desserts are fabulous too, especially the ice cream sundae frozen pie; I've already made it twice. The cookbook is a fun read and the recipes delicious! My family loves grilled food and bobby flay just makes it more interesting with his combination of flavors and unusual food pairings.
Awesome grilling.......2006-08-10
Bobby Flay has great recipes, ideas and techniques for grilling. This book is great and will take a long time to use them all.
Not-easy grilling.......2006-05-21
I am a huge Bobby Flay fan, and this book turns out some great recipes, but they are very time consuming, difficult recipes. If you want to turn out some high-end barbecue dishes, this book is for you. Be prepared to put in some serious prep time though.
Easy to use cookbook.......2006-03-27
This book is great, and easy to use. The recipes are a sure fire hit in any setting. You won't be disapointed

Howard Roffman is fully committed to the representation of young men and their lives in his work. Like no other he manages to capture images of his boys, their passions and their search for tenderness behind the pose. Sensitively and respectfully he documents the awakening sexuality of young men. The name of Bel Ami is a legend, needing no additional introduction. Through their countless films and photo collections the boys of George Duroy have conquered the hearts of countless gay men the world over.
Customer Reviews:
Wonderful Photo-Book.......2007-03-09
I was a little concerned about the price of this photo-book, but it's well worth the money. This is Roffman's largest book, both in terms of length and heft. It's a "behind the scenes" look at a Bel Ami video shoot, staring at least seven (possibly more) of the Bel Ami models. The photography is incredibly well-done, and the models are absolutely beautiful. My only complaint is that the models aren't identified, but fans of Bel Ami will know who they are. This is a fantastic photo-book, and Howard Roffman is the luckiest photographer in the world!
If you love hot guys and b&w photo.......2007-01-03
If you're a real fan of the boys of Bel Ami this is the book for you, each photo is more amazing than the other, besides all of them are black and white, which adds extra beauty to them
Simply Astounding!.......2006-11-27
Mesmerizing! First off, no one who is interested in buying this book, should be unaware of what Bel Ami is. If you have no clue, do some research. This book was so visually pleasing. I have not seen anything like it before. Truly astounding!
Roffman and Bel Ami - more than meets the eye.......2006-11-06
This is a luxury coffee table production...though, given the soft core edge, the naked young men at play and in bed...it might not be ever found on a coffee table. Roffman has grown with this book...it is still a fantasy...but one created by the Bel Ami folks rather than Roffman; who is allowed to show us how he sees/dreams this fantasy; he has been captured by the Bel Ami mystique. This is not a bad thing, in fact, all, one can say, then, is THANKS. The whole thing works on an incredibly high level.
Professional Photographs in a soft core environment.......2006-09-30
Another classic book from Bruno Gmunder, the world's leader in gay literature. Bel Ami is a Prague-based film company established by George Duroy, who is Slovak. "Bel Ami" means "beautiful friend" in French. Bel Ami specializes in films showing young men in erotic settings. They range from soft to hard core.
In this book Howard Roffman visits the site of a movie being shot by Duroy featuring fifteen young men. He is able to photograph these boys resting, acting, playing in the shower and playing in the normal fashion of young men throwing each other in the pool. The striking point about the book is the relaxed atmosphere generated by these young men in candid pictures that do not look staged at all.
The photographs are professionally made in every aspect, and professionally printed. This is Howard Roffman's eleventh book, all of which have been published by Gruno Gmunder.

In this delightful young adult novel for readers 12 and up, high school sophomore Paul says, "There isn't really a gay scene or a straight scene in our town. They got all mixed up a while back, which I think is for the best." And, as he observes at the end of the story, "It's a wonderful world." Paul has both gay and straight friends, and they all hang out together at terrific bookstores and concerts, and advise one another on the sometimes troubled progress of their various romances. Paul is smitten with Noah, and they are beginning a serious relationship when Kyle, Paul's ex, complicates things by deciding that all is forgiven. Joni is going out with Chuck, who dominates her, much to her friends' disapproval. Tony's conservative parents refuse to acknowledge that he is gay, so the others must bone up on Bible verses all week so they can pretend Saturday night is a study group. And then there's Infinite Darlene, football quarterback and Homecoming Queen, who deserves a whole romance novel of her own. Life in their town is gloriously accepting of differences and only occasionally verges on magic realism, in this first novel in which same sex preference is not the problem. --Patty Campbell
Book Description
This is the story of Paul, a sophomore at a high school like no other: The cheerleaders ride Harleys, the homecoming queen used to be a guy named Daryl (she now prefers Infinite Darlene and is also the star quarterback), and the gay-straight alliance was formed to help the straight kids learn how to dance.
When Paul meets Noah, he thinks he’s found the one his heart is made for. Until he blows it. The school bookie says the odds are 12-to-1 against him getting Noah back, but Paul’s not giving up without playing his love really loud. His best friend Joni might be drifting away, his other best friend Tony might be dealing with ultra-religious parents, and his ex-boyfriend Kyle might not be going away anytime soon, but sometimes everything needs to fall apart before it can really fit together right.
This is a happy-meaningful romantic comedy about finding love, losing love, and doing what it takes to get love back in a crazy-wonderful world.
From the Hardcover edition.

Boy Meets Boy by David Levithan .......2007-09-26
Falling in love is hard enough without freaking out over old boyfriends, friends who aren't boyfriends and best friends who break up with you. Add in a dance that's best organized in a cemetery and a homecoming queen and quarterback who are one in the same, and you only begin to touch the plot and subplots that weave together to make this one of the best love stories I've ever read. In fact, it's one of the best stories I've ever read - period.
Boy Meets Boy by David Levithan
©2003 - Published by Alfred A. Knopf - An Imprint of Random House Children's Books
"Sometimes the space between knowing what to do and actually doing it is a very short walk."
For me, that walk was into my study to get my laptop. This was one of the hardest books for me to review. I became so emotionally invested with the characters that I feared that I would not be able to put into words the way I feel about this piece of literature. I say literature because I don't want to simply call this another piece of teen fiction, a young adult story, or even an adolescent novel, and it actually would fit all three definitions. This piece is different because of the writing and voice that David Levithan has created.
The plot is a true and blue formula. Paul meets Noah. Noah likes Paul and Paul likes Noah. They get together, they fall apart and . . .
I will agree that it seems to be a familiar plot, however, it's the writing and execution of the conflicts and mishaps that come together in the right places - not always at the right times - that make this a heartfelt and fun story to read.
I'm not going to tell you the ending. I will tell you that this story is told in first person by Paul who introduces you through his eyes and voice to a high school and town that is unique and nonjudgmental. David Levithan writes in a way that makes it as if you're listening to Paul rather than reading. Paul tells you about being thrust as head of a dance committee while trying to deal with a best friend who is also gay and is in battle with his parents and their religion. You also get a chance to share the pain and frustration that Paul feels when another of his best friends suddenly takes on a new boyfriend that she adores, but who is barely tolerated by others. The interaction of the adults in this does not overshadow the story, but they too are portrayed in the same uniqueness as the rest of the characters. Along with Paul and Noah, you will meet Joni, Toni, Ted, Chuck, and Infinite Darlene.
I chose this book for my BellaOnline Pop Music book club because I discovered singer/song writer, Patty Griffin after reading the acknowledgements. I also fell in love with a concept in the book about "Painting Music".
"Just listen to the music and paint. Follow the sound. Don't think about rules. Don't worry about getting it perfect. Just let the song carry you."
I loved the whole idea of using music to be creative and have since tried it with my own writing.
I'm on my second paperback copy of this book. I bought my first copy and wrote so many notes to the characters in the margins that you can hardly read it. I bought a second paperback copy along with a hardback copy. As usual, the paperback is for reading and the hardback is for my desk.
Wow........2007-08-05
This book was absolutely astounding. It really was a great read, and it was just an amazing love story. I definately recommend it if you're looking for a great book. Absolutely my new favorite book.
Simply the Best.......2007-06-14
Someone on a message board recommended this book to me. I AM SO GLAD THEY DID!!!
This is the way school should be, and maybe someday will be. It's a beautiful story, with lovable characters you would like to take home with you. This book is a keeper, I have already read it three times. I recommend it to everyone; gay, straight, boy, girl.
Boy Meets ME!!.......2007-06-05
This book was great! David Levithan is really a wonderful author. All the corners of our world are mixed into this. There is this guy named Paul. He is gay but that doesn't seem to matter in his town. He has straight friends, a boyfriend, and even the Football Quarterback was the homecoming queen! He has a great group of friends. They all go through life and growing up. There are the relationships that everyone thinks is perfect until an ex comes back into the picture. Then there is the one with the strong beautiful girl that suddenly has a very dominating boyfriend. There is the bestfriend who's parents don't want to believe he is gay. And of course you have Darlene, the star of the school. Best Quarterback around...also the homecoming queen. He's the best, lol. David Levithan has a way of writing that will just leave you completely satisfied when you finish reading...and then you want to read the rest of his books, lol. This is one of my favorites and if you read it I'm sure it will be one of yours too.
"The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night".......2007-05-22
Is there a homosexual alive who wouldn't trade in their grammar, middle, and high school experience for Paul's? I imagine there is, but I think most would rather have Paul's. He lives in a city that is so remarkably socially liberal that a kindergarten teacher writes on Paul's report card, "Paul is definitely gay and has a very good sense of self". Seeing that, Paul asks his parents about it, and instead of the parents falling apart crying, denouncing their child as an abomination, or immediately shipping him off to an all boy's school (I just LOVE that solution - if parents knew what goes on in those schools...anyway...), Paul's mother announces to her husband that their son has learned a new word. And that's that.
Straight and gay aren't polarizing terms; they're merely identifiers, much like colors: that mug is yellow, and the sky is blue. There aren't gay clubs because they aren't necessary. People aren't afraid to be who they are.
I think, ultimately, that's the appeal of this book. Granted, the writing is solid, the characters very believable and entertaining (Infinite Darlene, the homecoming queen *and* the star quarterback deserves a book of her own), but when you get right down to it, this world, this Utopia creates not only a desire in those who read it to have lived it, but a desire in those who read it to make this community a reality someday. Thousands of teen suicides every year would simply disappear. Nobody would have to pretend to like girls or boys to hide their secrets. It's a wonderful world, as Levithan himself says.
Which reminds me - one thing that Levithan did throughout the book that was entertaining was that he used lyrics of songs in his sentences. I finished the book last week, didn't make notes, so the only one I recall is at the very end of the book, where Levithan craftily weaves his ending into the lyrics of What a Wonderful World. I'm not ashamed to admit that I was a bit misty-eyed. This world that Paul lives in is one I'd give my right hand to live in.

The Not So Sequel.......2007-09-10
I starting reading this book right after I had finished The Boy Next Door. At first I was only reading it to see what was going on from the charaters with in that book as they are closly related yet this is not a sequel. Well I found myself just as engulfed into this book as I was in the first. It is a quick read because you find yourself not wanting to put it down. It has the characters you have to love and the characters that you know you have to hate! I recommend it to anyone who like a light hearted romance novel!
as always, funny and entertaining.......2007-01-26
A little predictable, but another entertaining book by Meg Cabot. The humor kept me smiling and laughing throughout the book.
Good, Fast Meg Cabot Read.......2006-11-02
Having read The Boy Next Door in a few hours, I picked up Boy Meets Girl knowing I could get through it quickly. I'd say this book was not quite as good as The Boy Next Door (I gave that a 4.5), but towards the end it was very, very funny! The only complaint I have is that the lead character Kate got repetative in her constant overthinking by the end...I think in the Boy Next Door, the same dynamics existed for that main character, but she seemed less helpless than Kate. Anyway, I'd still pick it up and read it, especially great for an afternoon to relax - it literally took me about 3 hours to finish! I look forward to other Meg Cabot books because they're just fast and funny reads. Enjoy!
A great idea.......2006-08-04
Boy Meets Girl is supposedly similar to Meg Cabot's 'Boy Next Door' (i havent read this, but i want to) and is a story told entirely through journal entries, instant message conversations, emails and notes. It's a uniquely wonderful idea as it breaks the monotony of a novel and is a fresh new way of telling a story. The book is fun and very readable. I'd reccomend it to all Meg Cabot fans.
Most funny book I've ever read! .......2006-07-11
I just finished Boy Meets Girl and couldn't wait to tell EVERYONE how much I enjoyed it~ I heard about this book and decided to look at it at the library, but found myself hooked from the begining--this book is addicting, especially near the end!
The characters are SO original and the plot is great. Everything sounds so realistic, but with a touch of knowing everything will be okay at the end. The format of this book was a nice change (e-mail transcripts, scribblings on menus, flyers, etc). This is a wonderful, light read! Perfect for the summer, beach, or anywhere! I read it during in between time on a recent vacation and found it easy to just pick right up!
I don't think I have ever read a book that made me laugh out loud so much!
Book Description
Romantic Comedy offers an introduction to the analysis of a popular but overlooked film genre. The book provides an overview of Hollywood's romantic comedy conventions, examining iconography, narrative patterns, and ideology. Chapters discuss important subgroupings within the genre: screwball sex comedy and the radical romantic comedy of the 1970s. A final chapter traces the lasting influence of these earlier forms within current romantic comedies. Films include: Pillow Talk (1959), Annie Hall (1977), and You've Got Mail (1998).
Book Description
In this first entry in the National Museum of the American Indian series My World: Young Native Americans Today, Naiche Woosah Tayac, a member of the Piscataway tribe, takes the reader through his day at school, traces the history of his tribe and ancestors, and describes his people's ceremonies and customs. Produced in conjunction with the Smithsonian Institution, Meet Naiche offers a rare glimpse into the modern culture and family life of an ancient tribe while celebrating Native American history and traditions.
Customer Reviews:
Finally, an accurate view of today's Native American.......2002-10-12
This is a timely book, especially with the typical flurry of Native American activities that start in November in schools around the nation. One of the best qualities of this book is that it shows that Naiche is like any other American boy: has a family, lives in a house, eats pizza, plays soccer, and wears cargo pants. Native Americans are still the subject of stereotypes fueled by many aspects of society. For example, sports team mascots that reinforce people's ignorance. This book goes a long way toward showing that Native children have the same dreams and needs as all of our children.
This is a beautifully written and photographed book that should be on every teacher's reading list, public library, and family bookshelves.
Much Needed Resource for East Coast.......2002-09-24
Having seen an advance copy of this extremely informative and enjoyable book, I can urge teachers and parents looking for entertaining material on how Native Americans in the East live today to buy this book. It tells the story of a multi-tribal boy and his daily life. Dr. Tayac has an engaging writing style and the history and culture are presented in a very accessible manner.
Native Boy Tale Charms Kids of All Cultures.......2002-09-24
Naiche is described so stirringly in this book by Dr. Tayac that any native or non-native American would want to know him. Many American children in 2002 grow up multi-culturally and this wonderfully written children's book clearly evokes a compelling portrait of Naiche's world. The richness of Naiche's Indian culture will expand the horizons of any child who reads this page turner.
Meet Naiche Hits the Mark.......2002-09-24
This book will inform and entertain youngsters from second to sixth grade. Youngsters from about third to sixth grade can read this book independently while first and second graders can have it read to them. It demonstrates the daily life of a real native child and shows how many American Indian children live in the eastern region of the U.S. today. It also corrects common beliefs that many youngsters between ages 6 and 11 or 12 hold, that native children live in teepees and wear deerskin clothes etc. The author, Dr. Gabrielle Tayac, a Piscataway Indian and Naiche's cousin writes clearly and is obviously familiar with her reader and subject. She knows Naiche and his family well and communicates this to her audience in a interesting manner. The photography and the text mesh beautifully to tell the true life story of a contemporary native family through the eyes of a child.

Laugh out loud funny!.......2005-12-17
My son is 9 years old, plays video games until he drops and cannot sit still. That is until he found the Funny Boy books. He can't get enough of them. We are constantly hearing him read out loud. In fact these are the first books that he actually finished outside of school.
The writing is fast-paced and witty. But not dumbed down kid- style funny, it is humor that everyone can appreciate.
We highly recommend them.
