Are You Smart, or What?... An Excellent Challenge !.......2007-08-30
Pat Battaglia has a gift for challenging the reader with his verbal and numeric teasers. With each page skillfully crafted to whet your appetite for his next challenge, he offers an array of puzzles that make it difficult to put the book down. Many of the mind benders are so cleverly done, with a nice balance between difficult and easy, he almost compels you to turn the page to find out what lies ahead. When you miss the obvious, the frustration mounts and yet you push on, desperately wanting to decide for yourself, "Am I smart, or WHAT?" The book is excellent fun !
Are You Smart, or What? A Bizarre Book of Games & Fun for Everyone .......2006-08-09
This extrordinary book takes you deeper than a basic quiz book. It challenges your way of thinking and seeks the reader to apply diverse and lateral thinking in order to come up with what turns out to be, the most obvious answer. It challenges the mind far more that you may think and even challenges you to think. An excelent book to improve spatal orrientation, visual ques and logical thinking. Want to improve your cognition and perception? This would have to be the way. Further more, it is great to use to encourage family members to do the same and simply - THINK. A must try to anyone wanting to indulge the brain in lateral thinking.
Wonderful fun!.......2005-11-27
I just adored this book and enjoyed every single puzzle in it. As one reviewer points out, this is a book for word puzzle enthusiasts. It might be compared to Will Shortz's "Puzzlemaster Presents" series. What I love about this book is that it can be done without the aid of a dictionary, as it uses a vocabulary from common cultural literacy (e.g. types of candy bars, etc.). I also appreciate the fact that the references aren't dated like some game books are, which can lead to frustration when I am asked to rely on my knowledge of stars from the eighties. Overall, I simply loved this book for the accessible but challenging fun it provided. I hope that Mr. Battaglia will be gracing us with another book of this type soon!
Are you Smart, or What.......2005-07-02
The item was shipped as promised, on time and looked like knew. I would definitely buy products from this seller anytime.
Not as it seems in the review ...........2005-04-27
I am a huge fan of brain teaser books. I have a huge collection of these types of book. BUT after reading this book I say that this book is not as good as it seems in the review. If you think that you will find many Logical and mathematical riddles, this isn't the book for you, but on the other hand if you are into word games this might be a great book for you .

Uncle John's Bathroom Reader Extraordinary Book of Facts: And Bizarre Information (Bathroom Readers).......2007-05-09
I'm so glad I bought this book. It's the perfect book to read while on the can.
Great Book.......2007-04-06
This is a great bathroom book! I have learned so much from my trips to the bathroom now. Everyone that comes over and has to use my bathroom now has to know where to find this book because they have to have it. It's great for all that "everything you ever needed to know but never thought about" kind of stuff.
LOVE IT!!.......2007-04-02
Ive read this book front to back; I love facts.
It's a tad nerdy, but if you like to know things that are obscure that make great for awkward silence or everyday conversation starters, this book is for you.
Uncle John's Bathroom REader.......2007-03-09
We have a few of these series and really enjoy the reading while sitting in the bathroom. It is amazing what you can learn. I am very anxious to purchase the one on National Parks. Great series of reading.
Love the Bathroom Readers!.......2007-02-13
They're all great, pack crammed full of mostly useless information! Great Buy!
Book Description
Zobmondo!! takes the idea of parlor game questions to a new level of debate and lunacy. Based on the new Hasbro board game of the same name, it's a chunky book of 400 questions that range from the heinous to the nauseating to the downright disturbing, each a field-tested conversation starter-because no matter how strange or far-fetched, Zobmondo!! knows that choice provokes thinking, and thinking is fun.
Some questions, like a Rorschach test, reveal values: Would you rather . . . Age only from the neck up-OR-age only from the neck down? Be stupid and rich-OR-smart and poor? Some delight in their own grossness: Eat three earthworms-OR-wear a necklace made of them on your wedding day? Be trapped in an elevator with wet dogs-OR-three fat men with bad breath? Some churn up prejudices: Lose your mate to the same sex as yourself-OR-the opposite sex? Some create that squirming sensation: Get a bad case of poison ivy way up inside your nose-OR-inside your inner ear? Or ethical dilemmas: Be president of a firm that poaches endangered species-OR-work for a corrupt politician? And some are just deliciously absurd: Catch a porcupine thrown from a second-story window-OR-a skunk thrown from the same window? Each question is followed up with related, often off-the-wall information, from odd trivia to dumb jokes to the occasional practical advice (go for the skunk--the porcupine's got 30,000 quills, while tomato juice will take away the skunk smell).

Great.......2007-05-15
Book arrived right on time for my daughters birthday party. It was in excellent condition when it arrived and the hit of the party!
Thanks!
ZoBmOnDo!!!!!.......2007-04-23
Zobmondo is a hilarious book of with thousands of bizzare choices. The choices come from would u rather marry your first boyfriend/girlfriend or marry someone your parents chose for you? And would u rather take a bumpy two-mile ride sitting wedged (feet hanging out) in the main compartment of a small metal shopping cart or take a 25-mile ride in the empty but rotating bin of a cement truck? It's the perfect book for somebody who likes reading comedy books because this is the funniest book I have ever read.
A little racy.......2006-02-23
I would give this 5 stars, except that I was a bit surprised when I read some entries pertaining to sex. There is another version of Zobmondo that is supposed to be dirty, so I guess I figured this version would be clean. All in all, it's a great way to encourage the art of discussion, even if it encourages a discussion of the merits of eating live rodents' body parts.
Zobmondo! Great Campfire discussions!.......2002-07-17
I got this book from my querky sister... Now I'm the querky sister! What great entertainment this turned out with our weenend camping trips. Makes for great discussions and very thought provoking. Interestingly enough, although conversations about the choices were loud and long, no one got angry or upset, just good laughs and a lot of fun. (could even fun for kids when some censorship is used! ha!) Recommend this book for anyone who likes to entertain -- just as fun as MAD-LIBs but without the pencils.
Pretty cool.......2002-03-18
...It's definetly better to ask the questions to your friends, you get a much better response.
However, the questions are awesome and make you sit and ponder. There are defiently some questions that aren't for everyone. A lot of them make me kinda quesy. Some of my other 16-18 yo friends wouldn't like it, but the majority would found it down right sweet, as soon as i get back to high school. And the size is handy because you can fit it in pratically any pocket.
My brother's favorite part is the little side notes at the bottom of each page. Wheather it's a joke or fact relating to the question.
So would you rather
Always show up 20 minutes late for everything

always show up 90 minutes early for everything?

This is a great book. Anyone interested in the seedy history of Hollywood stars will definitely enjoy this book.
Excellent book.......2007-01-12
Very Good book, well written.
I for some reason have a morbid fascination into hollywood deaths and this book definately satisfies my curiosity.
Highly recommend
How did they really die.......2006-10-05

b.Sal Mineo
c. Bruce and Brandon Lee
and many more
2.in obserity-these people had not been in the limelight in a while
a. Lucille Ball
b. Joan Crawford
c. Mary Pickford
as well as many more
3. suicide
a. Freddy Prinz
b. Lupe Velez
as well as others
4. Drugs/alcohol
a. Judy Garland
b. Chris Farley
c. John Barrymore
and many more
This book is full of interesting tidpits that any person who loves old Hollywood will definitly injoy
Bizarre Read.......2006-03-16
This had all the bizarre, and perverse stories I have read in a long time. I have read accounts of some of these deaths but they weren't quite as sordid as these.
Not all that impressive.......2006-02-05
I like this book, but felt it left out so many interesting cases.
Most of the entries were not sordid or bizarre as the cover states but simply sad.
Book Description
Why is glass transparent? Why do cats purr? Why do men have nipples? These are but a handful of the thousands of questions that over the years have been asked and answered in The New York Times "Science Q&A" column. At last, the best and most interesting questions-and their replies-have been collected in a book for general readers.
From wild animals to outdoor vegetation, from the human body to the heavens above, The New York Times Book of Science Questions and Answers takes readers on a thoroughly entertaining and informative journey through the world we live in. Like David Feldman's bestselling books Do Penguins Have Knees? and Why Do Clocks Run Clockwise?, this is science at its fun-filled best. Featuring answers from a wide variety of leaders across the country in scientific research and education, and illustrated by the delightful drawings of Victoria Roberts, The Times Q&A column is one of the best read features in the Science Times, which is one of the most popular sections of the newspaper. With a daily circulation of 1.2 million people, The New York Times is a leader in conveying scientific information to the general public.
This fact-filled handbook for the scientifically curious should prove invaluable as a family reference book, as a classroom resource, as an entertaining subway diversion, and even as a supplement to public libraries' Frequently Asked Questions lists.
Customer Reviews:
The astonishing facts behind our everyday mysteries........2004-06-16
This well-written and easy-to-understand book answers two hundred of the most interesting, curious and bizarre questions ever published in The New York Times' "Science Q&A" column, giving us an entertaining and informative look at the most fascinating and wonderful inquiries ever posed by inquisitive minds about the world we live in.
This compendium includes topics that range from astronomy, biology, anatomy and physics to nutrition, common sense, wilderness survival and even urban legends, all neatly organized in easy-to-browse sections that are delightfully illustrated by the witty and sometimes hilarious drawings that were originally published in the newspaper.
As a bonus, the section titled Notes located at the back of the book, lists the source(s) used to answer each question.
So, if you want to know whether the are any one-eyed animals or why a magnet loses its power overtime, where dust comes from or why bruises change color, what makes a Mexican jumping bean jump or why spoiled cans of food swell, then this is the book for you. It's a must-read, fact-filled, fun reference for readers of all ages, be it a science enthusiast or just someone who isn't afraid to ask life's most unconventional questions.

all the questions answered that you were afraid to ask.......2002-06-13
As a science teacher, I always have to be prepared to answer questions from left field. This book has many of the commonly asked questions that you won't find in a textbook. It's well wriiten and easy to understand--and entertaining too!

It was a wonderful book! It was very informative. I didn't even know i wanted to know that much.

ripoff.......2003-01-24
Disappointing:- very bad quality reproductions of Wllies drawings and photographs, they are blured and lose much of the detail. Many amateur drawings clearly not by Willie.Only good pics. are on the cover.
An Inspiring Magazine.......2002-09-01
Bizarre is clearly the basis for much similar modern writing - you can see its influence in many places today. However, it is of more than historical interest; a lot of it is enjoyable reading even today, and some of the bondage pictures - even in murky black and white - are magnificent. I have been inspired and encouraged by it to lace my corsets tighter and wear shoes with higher heels. Of course, after half a century some things have changed; we would no longer encourage teenage girls to smoke or countenance cruelty to horses for example. (We might not even want to encourage the caning of children, but in modern society ill-treating horses is probably considered a worse sin!) However, if this sort of thing appeals to you, buy these books.
For the curious, for the informed...........2001-09-15
.... I would suggest you pick this up any way you can. As Eric Kroll says in the intro to the books, John Willie was one of the pioneers in fetish photography and drawing. Now everything comes off well, but a lot does. Even more interesting though are the letters that Bizarre received over the limited time that it was in operation. A constant source of interesting ideas and points of view....
Go back in time to Fetishville,1948.......2000-08-19
John Wille's magazine "Bizarre" is reprinted in two hardcover books that come in a slipcover package that measures 8" x5 1/2" x 4" thick. It's full of his drawings and photos of corsets, high heel fetish shoes, pin ups of the era and page after page of women in bondage and they are just loving it. Its sort of kinky stuff: tiny waisted women who love being tied up but the people who enjoy reading about such things will love these two volumes and will want to add it to their
collection along with their DVD of Bettie Page and some pictures of Ashley Renee and Darla Crane.
Extreme 1940's fashion for women.......2000-06-14
This collection of two hardcovers is a real conversation piece. Both editions are full of B&W/color photos, illustrations, comics, advertisements, and cartoons. There is a heavy slant on bondage, restraint, and domination.
This is a facinating look back into 1940's women's fashions and attitudes which were a step beyond the norm.
The two editions are hardcover and come boxed.
If you like this, I also recommend EXOTIQUE which is also published by Taschen.

Simple science experiments to add to your collection........1999-04-16
Looking for simple experiments which are always successful? Janice VanCleave's books provide just that approach. And 201 Awesome, Magical, Bizarre and Incredible Experiments adds to her large collection of published experiments. The title is misleading as the experiments are not very unusual. But the experiments are simple and most use readily-available materials. Good scientific explanations accompany each experiment. The book would benefit by some emphasis on the inquiry-approach to science and encouraging (rather than discouraging) changing variables during the experiments...The Science Spiders(TM) Newsletter.

Accessible to kids but not dumbed down.......2007-08-01
An excellent science book that is accessible to children, but does not dumb down the science. Several sophisticated concepts are presented. The content is current on some of the latest research on black holes and astrophysics.
Relatively thin book, large format with lots of pictures including many with real scientific value, not just pretty pictures.
