Book Description

Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.

5 out of 5 stars Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19

Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.

5 out of 5 stars Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09

There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.

For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.

5 out of 5 stars Very Interesting.......2007-03-07

It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.

4 out of 5 stars History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10

Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.

I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.

Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.

Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.

I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.

This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

This book is amazing! We are blessed to have an older hardcover copy of this book in our public library that is so lovingly worn, it's a treat to borrow it and read it as a family! My boys adore these stories and I plan to share these with my grandchildren one day...if my boys don't beat me to it! Wonderful book! Check it out for yourself and see! :o)

5 out of 5 stars The best book of fairy-tales !.......2005-12-03

I grew up with my great-grandmother's first-edition, from the early 1890's. The stories are lush and eloquent, unequivocally imaginative. Recently, I bought my niece a current copy. I am overjoyed to see the gorgeous original illustrations which, I had fallen in love with, are included in the later editions. If you are able, I do highly recommend purchasing the rest of the books in the series. Any child will be thoroughly delighted. You will happily discover your child's vocabulary considerably enhanced.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent.......2005-10-07

The Fairy Book series by Andrew Lang is not politically correct. I don't think these will be around for long or they'll be "fixed" such as is emerging with Irish fairy tales.
(The American Druidic folk discovered the PC "fixing" going on with the Irish fairy tales some years back.) The books in the series are replicas of the originals. The artwork is magnificent.

5 out of 5 stars spectacular as always.......2004-01-12

Andrew Lang's Blue Fairy Book is just as god as any of the other fairy books, it just has different stories. This book has 37 short fairy tales and black and white pictures on 7 different pages. Some of the fairy tales that this book has include:The Bronze Ring,The Yyellow Dwarf,Little Red Riding Hood,The Sleeping Beauty in the Wood,Cinderella,Aladin,Rumpelstiltzkin,Beauty and the Beast,Han sel and Grettel,Snow White, and many more.
In my opinion this book has the biggest collection of classic Disney fairy tales, the ones most people know.

1 out of 5 stars Be very careful of the publisher of this book!.......2002-12-11

I just ordered a number of the Andrew Lang books from Amazon. The Blue Fairy Book arrived yesterday, and I could not have been more disappointed. It came in a very plain blue hardback. I opened it up, and NOWHERE inside is Andrew Lang mentioned, nowhere are any of the illustrations, from either of the two other versions I know. The production quality -- the paper, the binding -- is poor, and the "author" is listed throughout as "Anonymous." The publisher of this book is IndyPublish.com. I don't know the deal, or how they get listed under Andrew Lang, but I recommend that if you want a real Andrew Lang book, don't buy one of the IndyPublish books.

2 out of 5 stars "Fairy Books".......2007-01-20

I was very happy to find a book that contained all the "Fairy Books". However, the printing is so small you need a magnifying glass to read it. It is also very difficult to find the fairy tale you want because there is no index. If I had to do it over again I would buy the books individually, it is worth the investment

1 out of 5 stars reads like a phone book.......2007-01-13

The format of this book is AWFUL- as unattractive as you could possibly imagine and on fairly cheap paper as well. Had I known it would be as bad as it was I would never have bought it.

1 out of 5 stars TERRIBLE. Do NOT buy this book........2006-11-04

I was so excited to see that all of the "color book" fairy tale collections were gathered in one place. When I received the book I was VERY disappointed. No thought was given this volume, from the inappropriate cover image (stock photography of a rainforest frog?) to the pages within : no illustrations, no consideration given to the needs of the reader at all (just dense columns of small type intended solely to minimize the number of pages.) Poorly bound. All of which combine to remove any pleasure from reading these delightful stories.

Look for the individual colored books .... they're worth the effort.

5 out of 5 stars Lot of value for the money.......2006-08-10

If you want all of Andrew Lang's stories in a convenient format this is for you. Ideal for the busy parent who wants to read a story a night or for the voracious child reader, for whom the small print is not problem. It may not be fancy but it's tremendous value.

2 out of 5 stars Content outstanding; presentation poor.......2006-08-10

Having read Lang's Fairy stories when I was younger, I was truly looking forward to receiving this volume. To say the least, I was very dissappointed when I received it. How does this book fail? Let me count the ways;

1) The beautiful illustrations that I remember so well, are gone. There is not one illustration in the entire volume.

2) The Table of Contents is sorely lacking. The individual stories are not listed; only the books. Trying to find a specific story is challenging, to say the least. An index would have been helpful.

3) The print is SO tiny, that severe eye-strain is a definite probability.

4) What is with the tree frog on the cover?

My suggestion is, if you wish to read Lang's Fairy Book series, buy them individually. They are truly wonderful stories, but this volume is NOT the way to proceed. Buying them individually will assuredly cost more, but it will be well worth the price.

Have you read the book called "The Seven Chinese Brothers"?
The story is mainly about seven brothers who want to help people. Each brother has a special gift of power. Each of the brothers gets in trouble and help each other when they get in trouble. I hope you like it.

5 out of 5 stars Seven Chinese Brothers.......2004-05-24

The book was really nice. It was very fun when the seventh brother got his tears out, and all of the armies went away. It was also very fun when the emperor was trying to hurt the brothers. But he didn't. That is all. M vd S

5 out of 5 stars Begining Brave.......2004-04-22

The Seven Chinese Brothers is about seven brothers trying to help the people that are fixing the hole in the Great Wall of China. When the emperor hears about the man who fix the hole in one night the emperor wants him to die. At the beginning the seven brothers were happily picking corn. In the middle all six brothers switch places so they can help each other. At the end they have fish for dinner. My opinion of the book is I think it makes you feel like you have special powers. Well it is a story that may never end you might make the sequel of the seven Chinese brothers.

4 out of 5 stars I Still Like 5 Chinese Brothers Better.......2004-03-29

I, like many other reviewers, grew up on The Five Chinese Brothers. I always loved that book - not for its pictures but for its message. It is about family and I was kind of surprised that there were no parent in the new version. After reading Seven Chinese Brothers, I still like the original the best. I agree with another reviewer that we try to shield our children from everything instead of discussing things with them. Stories are not just meant to be read but discussed. It is true that the pictures in the current version are more colorful and more appealing to the flash and dazzle to which many of our children have become so accustomed. But try having the children focus on the message and not the beauty or lack thereof of the messenger.

2 out of 5 stars Not the book I cherished as a child.......2003-09-08

I have been searching all over to find the book that was my favorite as a child, and am greatly saddened that it has been replaced by this version which is text heavy and watered down to be somehow politically correct (according to some other reviews). The original was a long horizontal, though not too large book. I can remember the drawings vividly, of the little obstinate boy out in the distance, with the sea life spewn about on the ocean floor and the first brother's cheeks full with the ocean water, about to burst. This scene alone taught me that going against your word brings your own demise. I remember the picture of the brother with the long legs, drawn as a center fold that you could hold vertically to see how long his legs were. This was a favorite book of my generation who were children of the violent 60s. REM turned it into a song it was so popular. The new version is watered down visually, most likely due to the contemporary belief that children should be protected from death, although I am sure the current version still gets the message through about justice. In the times we live in, I believe children are more sophisticated about reality. To me the reinvention of this story is like ripping down an historic building to replace it with boring row houses. Where is the old book? ...

Book Description

The Land of the Blue Flower is the tale of Amor, a young king orphaned as an infant and left in the care of a wise elder. His caretaker, known as the Ancient One, spirits the infant away to a castle, far from the gloomy city where Amor was born. In the lands surrounding the castle, the Ancient One teaches Amor to respect and learn from the beauty and mysteries of nature.

When Amor ascends to his throne as a young man, he returns to the city, which has been in a state of ruin for many years. The people of the kingdom are surprised when their new king issues a mysterious proclamation that all persons must plant and nurture the seeds of a magical Blue Flower.

The people follow King Amor's decree with trepidation. As they learn to care for the flowers, they learn to care for the Earth and one another. Soon, the once-gloomy kingdom becomes known as the Land of the Blue Flower.

Audiences of all ages will be delighted by the reemergence of The Land of the Blue Flower, a lost classic by Frances Hodgson Burnett, author of much-loved children's books, including The Secret Garden, A Little Princess, and Little Lord Fauntleroy. Judith Ann Griffith's elegant illustrations beautifully complement this ageless tale, which offers a timely message.

Miss Griffith discovered The Land of the Blue Flower when she received a copy of the 1909 edition from a friend. She was deeply impressed with the book. Griffith writes, "It was in the woods and in the garden that I gained the awareness of the interconnectedness of all life. In The Land of the Blue Flower, Burnett conveys her understanding of this universal principle through the classic symbolism of a fairy tale. Wisdom gleaned from the Earth and the stars leads to creative solutions."

Every fair night through the King's earliest years the Ancient One carried him to the battlements and let him fall asleep beneath the shining myriads. But first he would walk about bearing him in his arms, or sit with him in the splendid silence, sometimes relating wonders to him in a low voice, sometimes uttering no word, only looking calmly into the high vault above as if the stars spoke to him and told him of perfect peace.

2 out of 5 stars Beautiful story, ugly binding..........2006-05-06

My daughter fell in love with this book after checking it out at the library. The version she read was a beautiful picture book with pages and pictures as wonderful as the story. She had earned a treat and only wanted this book.
Let me just say how disappointing it is to open a box and find a small, flimsy paperback with not one, single picture! The cover pictured is the actual book cover and inside is small type covering pages with small margins. Only half of the pages are even printed; the book ends just over half-way through the pages of the book.
This is a beautiful story, and I realize that this is a rare publication, but it is still a letdown to find such a book especially at this price.

5 out of 5 stars "Blue Flowers" = Life, Love & Beauty.......1999-05-15

This charming fairytale by the author of the beloved _Secret Garden_ is not just for children, but is a kind of "spiritual tonic" for folks of all ages. Ever since discovering HJKramer's magical edition, I have turned to _Blue Flower_ during times of spiritual or physical depletion and have always felt uplifted and enlivened by its positive message and exquisite artwork.

The book came to me in a strange, "Heaven-directed" way, during a time of immense grief over the death of a relative. I was ripe for its insightful messages that, "If you fill your mind with a beautiful thought, there will be no room for an ugly one"; and "There is no time for anger..." I have always been bolstered by this particular edition, so gracefully illustrated by Judith Ann Griffith, and over the years have gifted a few special souls, adults and children alike, with copies of this delightful book.

The "blue flowers" at the heart of the story have gradually become a sort of shorthand-code between me and cherished friends/relatives; and on special occasions, we sometimes exchange "blue flowers" as a colorful reminder of truths taught in Frances Hodgson Burnett's tale. The "blue-flower code" is simple and speaks directly to the heart, saying, "We choose love, life, and joy over fear, bitterness, and grudges." (Given current global upheavals and conflicts, maybe certain folks in High Places would do well to read this little book and internalize its simple truths.)

_The Land of the Blue Flower_ is very enthusiastically recommended for hearts of all ages, and Kramer's gorgeous edition is sure to become a family favorite.

5 out of 5 stars An enchanted story which affirms beauty and life........1998-08-23

Though the story carries a brilliant message of hope for us all, if we can affirm our connection with the earth, it is the lovely illustrations that bring home this heart-felt promise.

On almost every page of this classic tale the artist has embellished the authors words with delightful and imaginative representations of the story.

For a timeless message of hope treat your children and yourself to this book.

5 out of 5 stars Charming!.......2005-01-22

This book is simply a pleasure to read. Carle illustrates in a style all his own. If you like his work you will not want to be without this charming collection of 22 classic tales told in a fun, conversational stlye. Five stars.

4 out of 5 stars Enjoyed this.......2003-01-02

If you love stories, you'll really enjoy this. My students did. Also nice to add to your collection are: Aesop for Children (Winter), Grimm's complete fairy tales (Grimm), Great Children's stories (Richardson), The Butterfly (Singh). There are many other great children's books out there, but these were the ones I enjoyed the most. Oh, and I almost forgot the two classics that no children should ever be deprived of: The Little Prince (Exupery) and Charlotte's Web (White).

1 out of 5 stars thought this was terrible, do not recommend.......2002-12-04

I bought this book to continue teaching little Japanese children (4-7) partly brought up in the states classic western children stories, but then realised that the stories had all been shortened- some to a point they were not understandable. I thought a lot of the messages the original writers were trying to portray were lost, and the children found the pictures scary. There were a lot of stories I had not heard of, and very few of the ones I would have called classics.

I just want to warn that the pictures are fairly dark and gloomy and that the stories have been adapted and shortened a lot in some cases. Most stories only have one picture of a single scene and are very heavy on words, whereas children tend to find it much easier to follow if there are more pictures.

4 out of 5 stars Art gives new slant to old tales.......2000-06-06

Although I prefer realistic illustrations the artisty of Eric Carle is fun to look at and the bold, splashy colors of his tissue-paper collages get the attention of children. The book contained a good mix of fairy tales from Hans Christian Anderson and the Brothers Grimm, as well as some of Aesop's Fables. The book had some tales that I had never heard such as The Marsh King's Daughter and The Traveling Companion, and the rendition of The Wild Swans is one of the best I have read. My favorite illustration was of the horse in Tom Thumb.

Davey doesn't believe in spells and fairy tales—until the day a strange blue-eyed frog named Amelia turns up in his pond. Amelia is really a princess, and in order to break the spell she's under, she needs a kiss before two cycles of the moon pass. It looks as though Davey is the only boy who can help her. But he doesn't want to kiss the frog until he's had a chance to show her off to his friends, and the thought of kissing her at all makes him sick. In the meantime, he'll have to take care of the bossy princess by keeping her away from his menacing little brother, Kevin. Can the princess convince Davey to do the right thing, or is she doomed to stay a frog forever?

Patricia Easton's crackling, fast-paced chapter book puts a new spin on a beloved fairy tale. Mike Wohnouka's ingenious black-and-white illustrations are guaranteed to elicit giggles and guffaws.

5 out of 5 stars Fun Story - Great Illustrations.......2003-05-23

This is a great book for summer! It's mostley just fun, but it does touch on responsibility too (but not so it seems like you're getting a lesson). I'd recommend it to anyone, but especially boys, who are begining to read chapter books. There are a couple pictures in each chapter, which also make it a fun book.
