timeless stories for children.......2007-03-09
These stories from Gertrude Chandler Warner are a wonderful escape into a child right dream world. My children (7 and 8 years old) love them and listen to them over and over again.
I really do recommend them as a great alternative to too much TV and video games. The beautiful thing is that the children can play with something, like model magic, and listen to the stories.
Try it!!!

Book Description
Universally acclaimed as the maestro of horror and the morbid, Edgar Allan Poe's dark gift has for more than a century and a half set the standard for the genre.
Now, Caedmon Audio presents a classic collection of Poe's most terrifying tales performed by two of the most brilliant interpreters of his work, Vincent Price and Basil Rathbone.
Between them, they perform 20 of Poe's chilling stories and poems, creating an unforgettably intense listening experience.
Customer Reviews:
Rathbone rides again........2007-01-18
Basil Rathbone was born to play Sherlock Holmes (in the films of the stories written by Conan Doyle, not the other spurious stuff) and to read the works of Edgar Allan Poe.
My vinyl recordings were worn out long years ago. This set is more than I could have hoped for. Now in my 73rd year, these performances carry me back to a time well before my own... magic, indeed.
For his part, Vincent Price delivers characteristically fine performances, but Rathbone's readings have been my delight. Rare excellence is here.
Not for the Hearing Impaired.......2007-01-04
Not for the hearing unimpaired either. This CD is gutless. It has no volume, no amplitude, no power. To use it in my junior classes, I had to place an ampflifier mike at one of the speakers of the CD player I was using. I never had to do this before, and I've played plenty of audio CDs in class. Surf the web for free downloads instead of paying for this dog. I highly recommend "The Cask of Amontillado" as read by Norman George and "The Tell-Tale Heart" as read by talk-radio host Glenn Beck. The latter has sound effects and, when I played it (sans amp) in class, Beck kept the kiddies rapt until the grisly end.
Not for the hard of hearing.......2006-08-09
The content of the collection is excellent, 5-star quality narration of Poe's works, with excellent sound quality. You better have a kickin' amp in your stereo, though, because the recording level is uneven, and gets so low that I could barely make some stories out with my car stereo maxed. Great collection, just expect to have to rip/burn it at a much higher volume to actually hear it.
The master of horror.......2006-08-02
Years ago, I was fortunate to see works as performed by Vincent Price and listen to an audio portion of some of his works. I was determined to obtain a collection of E.A. Poe's works in the audio. I was not disappointed and the memory's keep flooding back every time I hear a story about where I was. My innermost thoughts are also impinged upon by his visions and dreams.
I highly recommend that anyone interested in Edgar Allan Poe obtain this work as part of their collection or research.
EDGAR ALLEN POE AUDIO COLLECTION.......2006-07-03
POE USES HIS CREATIVE TALENTS IN HIS HORROR STORIES AS A METAPHOR FOR THE HORRORS OF HIS ALCHOLISM, ALONE, HELPLESS AND HOPELESS. HE SUCCEEDS BRILLIANTLY!

Customer Reviews:
Love these stories.......2007-08-25
My son loves these stories and he learns a little about each destination. The only problem I have with the books is that proper sentence structure is not always used. Did the editors not notice? These books are for beginner readers, so it is confusing to them not to have proper "subject/verb" sentence structure.
Higher numbered books are longer.......2007-07-17
I have the audio CD versions of every story 1-24 and 29-32. I can tell you that the stories 29-32 are much longer than any of the books in the first few sets.
For example, books 17-24 have a total play time of almost exactly 5 hours compared with books 29-32 with a total story time just over 5 hours. So, you get 50% less "books", but the same story reading time.
I am just purchasing this set 25-28 now, and I do not yet know the running time of these stories. But.. you should evaluate the hours of audio enjoyment, not just the number of books when making your comparisons. Perhaps Amazon will add this information to the details, or perhaps I just missed it.
Why only 4 books.......2007-06-01
I agree with the other comment 100%. I am dissapointed at such a blatent marketing ploy to charge more money for less content. Done in the best "bait and switch", new and (not) improved tradition. I'll buy it for the same reason, but it is frustrating.
Why only 4?.......2007-03-23
Why are there only 4 stories on this set for nearly the same price as 8 on the previous three audio CD releases? I'll buy it because my daughter loves them, but I can't say I'm thrilled with paying only $2 less for half the content.
Customer Reviews:
Lots of laughs!.......2007-09-29
Great stories! My kids love to listen to the stories over and over. Narration is done very well. Lots of fun!
Super!!!.......2007-06-27
These stories are wonderful for 5 and 6 yr old children . The experiences in the books are what they are experiencing right now. My granddaughter loved them and so did her grandmother. very intertaining.. We also got the CDs for the car and they are super also!!
Junie B C.D.'s.......2007-01-29
Darling, funny tape the whole family can enjoy. Grammar is inappropriately used, so if you're concerned about your younger children hearing it over and over, you might want to read the books to them instead, where you can edit it out.
Junie B on CD.......2006-02-24
My kindergartener adores Junie B and she LOVES these CDs. We've been reading Junie B books for more than a year and the CDs are a treat so she can continue "reading" when the lights go out at bedtime. I'm not crazy about Junie B (she gets in a lot of trouble, is rude and uses poor grammar) but I do enjoy the CDs ... they're funny and performed well AND, they occasionally provide teaching moments (when I can turn to my daughter and say: "I'm not sure I'd want to be friends with a girl like Junie B.")
Junie B CD.......2005-07-27
I purchased the books on CD for my daughter because my son had them on cassette tape. However, to my dismay, the stories are split between 5 CDs and some stories are continued from one CD to the next. The stories themselves are wonderful, however, my advice is to purchase them on cassette tape so you don't have to switch CDs mid-story.
Book Description
Two classic stories by Arnold Lobel!
Mouse Tales: "Papa, please tell us a tale."
When Papa's seven little mouse boys ask for a bedtime story, Papa does even better than that -- he tells seven stories, one for each boy!
Mouse Soup: Mouse is in a jam -- soon he'll be weasel soup!
Weasel is ready for his dinner. And poor mouse is it. Just in time, he thinks up a clever and entertaining way to distract weasel from serving up mouse soup for supper.
Customer Reviews:
terrific.......2007-09-17
The kids LOVE this CD as it accompanies the books Mouse Soup and Mouse Tales.
The Mouse Tales CD Audio Collection.......2007-01-03
I purchased this set for my grand daughter (3 1/2 yrs old)as she loves to listen to books on tape etc. However, do not make the mistake that I did -- this is a CD only so you need to purchase the books separately. She loves the tales and follows along in the book - the author is the narrator and has a wonderfully expressive voice.

Customer Reviews:
CD sent - I wanted a book.......2007-09-20
After seeking out a book by Garrison Keillor a CD was sent out. All of this comes down to confusion on your Keillor page - is it a book or a CD?
Wide Appeal.......2004-07-25
Garrison Keillor writes poignant and often funny stories about small-town, Midwestern life. His works have often been compared to those of Mark Twain, and I can give no greater praise than that, except to say that you need not be a Christian to enjoy his stories about Christmas (I'm not), you need not be a Minnesotan to enjoy his revelations about life in Minnesota (I've never even been there), and you need not be from a small town to relate to the eccentric characters of Lake Wobegone (I'm as urban as they come). So come and visit Lake Wobegon, it's an enchanting, old-fashioned, liberal-making, and distinctly American faeryland where the women are strong, the men are good looking, and the children are always above average.
Classic Keillor.......2002-04-27
I have the cassette collection of all four seasons of News from Lake Wobegon, and have worn them out. Time to buy the CDs! Winter is my favorite. It warms your heart and makes you laugh.
Keillor captures winter as no one else can.......2001-01-27
The five stories in this CD set are all majestic, and they include every aspect of winter one can think of. "Guys on ice" is a rather self-explanatory title, chronicling the thoughts of guys on ice; always interesting. "James Lundeen's Christmas" is the story of a boy who finds Christmas as it is truly meant to be. "Christmas story re-told isn't as magical as it is in the Bible, but Keillor comes as close as one can in his re-telling. "New Year's from New York" details Keillor's appreciation for the event from a child's perspective. "Storm Home" brings to life the things that can make school and home life tolerable. This is a terrific compilation of Keillor's winter work.

No clue.......2007-01-10
I did not understand it. Will pas it to someone who has more knoweldge in the matter. Sorry it is very local, no apt for foreigners.
Hooray for Garrison Keillor.......2005-08-26
Such a joy to listen to this man tell his stories. No matter who you are or where you grew up and now live, his tales are sure to remind you of someone whom youknow.
The Best of the Best of Garrison Keillor.......1999-05-25
"Fall" contains the single funniest Lake Wobegon monolgue yet written: "Bruno the Fishing Dog." It also contains a typically Minnesotan Thanksgiving recap ("Hors duerves at the Tollefson's, can you believe it?"), and a devastating 24-minute epic, "The Royal Family," that has nothing to do with the Windsors.
Owning this collection (and "Gospel Birds") is a must for fans, and a great starting place for newbies.

Great for kids of all ages.......2007-09-29
Me and my kids love to listen to the stories of Junie B. in the car or at home. Great narration. It will make you laugh!
Our Family Love Junie B........2007-08-09
Picked up our first CD at Wendy's. We've been hooked ever since. My kids love listening in the car. Great item.
Expected books, got CDs.......2007-05-30
Although I thought I ordered books, I got CDs. Instead of my 8 year old enjoying the 'books', now my 8, 6, and 3 year olds can enjoy them together.
We love Junie B Jones.......2007-03-17
I ordered this Junie B Jones audio set from Amazon.com at a reduced rate from what I could purchase it at my local bookstore and am very pleased. In addition, I own the previous boxed audio set (Books 1-8). Both are equally popular among my students. I am a Kindergarten teacher and oringally purchased the initial boxed set because my students are such huge fans of Junie B and didn't have enough time in our schedule to read all of the books they requested during class time. However, if my students are working on large, independant projects, they will always request that I put on a Junie B CD to listen to while they work. I purchased the second boxed set as we'd listened to the first eight stories so often they practically had them memorized. This would also be a great purchase for parents to use at home. They would be great as a bedtime book for children to fall asleep to at night. Each story runs about 45 minutes. I am amazed that my students are able to stay focused on an audio story for this extended amount of time, but I know that they do, because they laugh at all the right times.
I highly recommend the Junie B Jones audio boxes. The initial investment is around $[...] (on Amazon.com),
but you receive many stories for the money.
Book Description
Acclaimed actors from stage and screen perform tales from the baseball diamond in this newest, three-CD collection of stories from Selected Shorts. Both classic and contemporary works are featured, including a heartwarming piece on some fan habits during a players' strike, by W.P. Kinsella, and a sidesplitting account from T. Coraghessan Boyle of the longest game ever. Many of the readings were recorded during a historic broadcast of the show hosted by the late, beloved baseball commissioner A. Bartlett Giamatti. From the first pitch to the final out, these short stories are a lively listening experience.
