Book Description
It's been a year since septimus heap discovered his real family and true calling to be a wizard. As Apprentice to Extra Ordinary Wizard Marcia Overstrand, he is learning the fine arts of Conjurations, Charms, and other Magyk, while Jenna is adapting to life as the Princess and enjoying the freedom of the Castle.
But there is something sinister at work. Marcia is constantly trailed by a menacing Darke Shadow, and Septimus's brother Simon seems bent on a revenge no one understands. Why is the Darke Magyk still lingering?
Bringing fantasy to new heights, Angie Sage continues the journey of Septimus Heap with her trademark humor and all of the clever details readers have come to love.
Customer Reviews:
light and fluffy fantasy.......2007-07-04
This is a very plot heavy and magic heavy book. That makes it perfect for those not necessarily wedded to long, dense books. It got a bit silly at times, but that's perfect for its intended audience. The thickness of the paper and the size and spacing of the type make it appear much longer than it is.
Septimus Heap: Flyte the long lost art of Flying.......2007-06-02
Flyte, the second book in the Septimus Heap series, is about an ancient lost art of Flying. Flyte is almost rediscovered by Darke Magyk. To add to that, little princess Jenna is kidnapped by one of her own family member. Septimus Heap goes out searching for Jenna and ends up putting Flyte together. He gets two ways to fly: Flyte and Beast.....
It is an intriguing well written book with its quick, witty cast of characters and infinite magical imaginary capabilities.Magyk (Septimus Heap, Book 1)Physik (Septimus Heap, Book 3)
Flyte.......2007-05-23
This is a wonderful book full of fun and adventure in which the Heaps are caught up in the stream of magic and the evil plot of evil wizard DomDaniel trying yet agian to become king and the Extra ordinary wizard. Along with some help from one of the Heaps (which one is it?), DomDaniel almost succeeds. Anyone who likes adventure and magic will like this story because of its amazing storyline and happy ending.
The continuing adventures of Septimus Heap.......2007-05-23
Okay so Septimus Heap is an apprentice to an extraordinary wizard, and he's back in this sequel to Magyk. As you might have guessed, DomDaniel was defeated but not destroyed, and he's more intent than ever on ruling the castle as the extraordinary wizard. To do this, DomDaniel must remove Jenna, the rightful heir to the throne.
The book finds Septimus Heap about a year after the events in the first book. He has slipped into his new life as an apprentice. The darkness still lingers as a menacing shadow follows Marcia the wizard everywhere. Meanwhile, Jenna also has adjusted to her new life as a princess. Life is good for both as they say but one day when the mysterious Simon Heap shows up he suddenly kidnapps Jenna. Septimus ends up going off on his own to resuce Jenna because no one believes him when he says Simon is now evil.
Over all, I enjoyed reading Flyte. Although the plotting meanders at times and the writing isn't as good as with Magyck, the book has many fun elements and is an interesting read. I'd recommend this highly to readers of Robert Stanek's Keeper Martin's Tales (The Kingdoms and the Elves, In the Service of Dragons, etc). The books are similarly well written and inventive. I'd also recommend to those who enjoy Artemis Fowl but are looking for more detail and more mature stories.
A fun read.......2007-05-17
I enjoyed reading Flyte, the sequel to Magyk in the Septimus Heap series of books. It has a lot of fun elements, and the plot held my attention well. Yes, there are some things in it that will make you think of Harry Potter here and there, but Angie Sage manages to keep those things few, and her world is not one to be confused with the world of the Harry Potter books.
In this book Septimus is coming into more acceptance with his family and finding his place in their lives and as Apprentice to the ExtraOrdinary Wizard. The plot moves quickly, and while there are a few moments of predictability, in general it kept me guessing. I look forward to reading the third installment soon.

Elizabeth, a beautiful princess, lives in a castle and wears fancy clothes. Just when she is about to marry Prince Ronald, a dragon smashes her castle, burns her clothes with his fiery breath, and prince-naps her dear Ronald. Undaunted and presumably unclad, she dons a large paper bag and sets off to find the dragon and her cherished prince. Once she's tracked down the rascally reptile, she flatters him into performing all sorts of dragonly stunts that eventually exhaust him, allowing her to rescue Prince Ronald. But what does Prince Not-So-Charming say when he sees her? "You smell like ashes, your hair is all tangled and you are wearing a dirty old paper bag. Come back when you are dressed like a real princess." (At least he has the courtesy not to mention that the princess's crown resembles a dying sea anemone.) In any case, let's just say that Princess Elizabeth and Prince Ronald do not, under any circumstances, live happily ever after. Canadian author Robert Munsch celebrates feisty females everywhere with this popular favorite, and Michael Martchenko's scratchy, comical, pen-and-ink drawings capture the tongue-in-cheek quality of this read-aloud crowd pleaser. (Ages 4 to 8) --Karin Snelson
Book Description
The Princess Elizabeth is slated to marry Prince Ronald when a dragon attacks the castle and kidnaps Ronald. In resourceful and humorous fashion, Elizabeth finds the dragon, outsmarts him, and rescues Ronald --- who is less than pleased at her un-princess-like appearance. Full color throughout.

read it before you buy it.......2007-09-12
All the hype made it sound like a book filled the sort of things you would want your girls to take to heart- except that the story line is weak and the writing lacking...not worthy of our time....
Great For All Girls.......2007-05-26
Get this book for all little girls (and not so little girls). Our little princesses should not dream about marrying princes. This book is about a princess who saves the prince, only to realize that he's not good enough for her.
The most AWESOME GIRL POWER fairy tale ever!!!.......2007-05-19
I was introduced to this story by my daughter's kindergarten teacher many years ago, and it made me laugh!
Since then, I've read and recommended this story to countless Girl Scout leaders and parents...it's the ultimate "Have confidence in yourself" fairy tale, and every 5 year old girl should memorize it!!! No more damsels in distress waiting to be rescued!
Buy this book and pass it on to future generation!
Corny, but cute.......2007-05-14
My kids thought this book was rather silly, but they liked it, so...
Princess Power!.......2007-05-06
For all of you parents, guardians, and supportive "others" in a little girl's life, PLEASE beg, borrow, or buy this book for her! Every princess needs to know that they can be strong, and it's OK to say No.

Customer Reviews:
A wonderful way to remember pi.......2007-01-25
I feel the age range given on the website should not be ages 4-8. This is appropriate for 8 and up. That said, my 5 year old enjoys it as just a fairy tale and I would not attempt any "teaching" to him. He listens as I read it to my older daughters and maybe it will seep in so when he's old enough to begin measuring, he will easily grasp the concepts.
This is a wonderful book - good illustrations and a clever story. The author works the math part in without it being cumbersome. A few times through this book and your child will have a good grasp of pi. At the least, it will be a good memory trigger if he/she needs help in class.
Great Book .......2007-01-09
This is a great book to teach kids about the number pi. This is a book that makes math fun and gets kids interested in learning math.
This book is a BLAST!.......2005-07-23
My kids love this book! They range in age from an 11 yr old girl to a 3 yr old boy and they all enjoy it! My son loves the story and the knights and adventure. And, he is learning something in the process. My older kids enjoy the story also but on a different level and it also reinforces what they have already learned! What a great concept! I can't wait for more to come out! We already own all 4!
Great for Middle School kids.......2005-04-11
I have use this book in my middle school classroom. The kids enjoy it. Yes, it is silly but heck so are middle school kids! Since reading the book and discussing it, the kids have a much better understanding of what pi really is, instead of just saying about 3.14.
Discovering PI in a mid evil kind of way........2004-11-16
Radius has to discover PI in order to save his father, Sir cumference from the evil curse of the fire breathing Dragon. I read this book to a fourth grade class and they really got a kick out of it. They wanted to learn pie along with Radius through his adventures to conquer the curse. This is a creative way to introduce a math lesson to children. There is even places to stop and let the kids try a couple problems. The activities include measuring and dividing. Teachers this is a must have.

Book Description
Queen Mab's niece, Fiona, has long been bored to tears by the intrigues of Court life. She'd prefer to cut loose at a punk club, knock back a few Thai beers, and hook up with a likely lad of similar interests. But when Fiona goes AWOL, she only gets as far as Manhattan's Inwood Park before a nasty demon nearly puts a permanent crimp in her plans—and a dark stranger sparks her desire...
All work and no play make Tobias Walker one cranky werewolf. After six months of doing his part to keep the peace during the delicate negotiations between the Others and humankind, he'd like nothing more than a good night's sleep—preceded by an enthusiastic mating session. The alluring woman he rescues in the park might be the answer to his most lustful prayers, but only if they can both stay alive long enough to find out who wants her dead and why.
Now, Fiona and Tobias must unravel a tangled web of treachery that spans branches of the Fae, Other, and mortal worlds, all the while falling into a dangerous attraction that could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship—or the end for them both...
Customer Reviews:
loved it.......2007-09-29
this book was great! It was funny, the dialogue was witty and the love scenes were hot, lol. Strongly recommend to all!
What happened?.......2007-09-04
I loved the first book in the series and Ms. Warren is an great writer, I just a hard time with this one. I struggled to finish it.
Another great story........2007-06-27
When Princess Fiona from the Seelie Court meets Werewolf Tobias Walker the sparks fly. This book has it all intrigue, romance.
Oh of course heat.
Great story!
Better than 'Wolf at the door'.......2007-06-24
I didn't like her first book of The Others, but I had bought the three books together, and maybe it was because I had already paid for them, or maybe because the plots were more interesting, but the other two books held better expectatives for me than the first one. So it proved out to be, and I liked this one far better than 'Wolf at the door', that was an easy plot and bad book... that I rated as a one star because less wasn't posible.
This one is better, the characters are better developed, and the story has more of a grip to it. The bad guy is easily identifiable, once he apprears on the story, and feels more like a fidgement put in there to be the bad guy and not a very developed character; but anyway the story is good and well-written, and the main characters are well developed.
I got a little bored of more of the same when I was halfaway of the book, but I don't know if it was because of the plot or if it was because I wanted to jump to another book I just got.
Anyway, it's an easy and fun story, a light book.
Light, Fun, and Very Entertaining!.......2007-02-17
An interesting premise...Fiona, daughter of Queen Mab (Seelie Court) and King Dionnu (Useelie court) decides she's had enough court intrigue and politics and heads off to New York for a bit of a vacation...despite the fact that travel to human land are banned by her aunt, The Queen. She successfully slips out of her world and into the human realm and is almost immediately attacked by a demon and then saved by Tobias, a werewolf. This story is an interesting mix of the everyday "real" world, a separate magical world...and those places where the two mix. The basic gist of the story is that Fiona comes for a vacation...a little dancing, some good food, a little hankie panky and winds up stuck here, hunted by demons at what could be described as the worst time for this to happen...at a time when humans and otherkin of all kinds are negotiating otherkin rights. At a time when these negotiations are at a delicate place and where Tobias and his pack are working around the clock to ensure there are no "incidents" to ruin the negotiations.
What you get in She's No Faerie Princess is just romping good fun with a minor mystery thrown in. Probably the best part of the book is the chemistry between Tobias and Fiona. They have a very Han Solo/Princess Lea kind of sexual tension/animosity between them (sorry, but that's what came to mind as I was reading through the book) that manages to be both humorous and annoying. I guess that's what happens when you throw a sexually liberated and extremely stubborn Faerie into a romantic paring with an [..] retentive, driven to protect werewolf. That's not all it's got...in this story you get Demons, Fiends, Witches, Werewolves (and a Werejaguar), heck you even get Demon Police...the number of twists in this novel, while somewhat predictable, are totally fun and She's no Faerie Princess has sex that actually manages to be "hot" and well placed...instead of the plot being used to bridge sex scenes, we got more plot with sex as a key component to making it all work out right.
Overall, I give it four stars. She's No Faerie Princess is a light, easy read that is very entertaining. The female lead is feisty and while she must be rescued more than once...she's not a helpless damsel waiting helplessly to be rescued by the big, strong werewolf...I like that she was independent, strong-willed (read stubborn), and really just looking to have a good time. The only drawback I found was that at times, the overbearing "mine" mentality the author gave Tobias got a bit tired...we get it already; you don't have to beat us over the head with it. Other than that, a really entertaining, light read for those times when you just need a bit of fluff to entertain you.

Customer Reviews:
For princesses young and old.......2007-07-30
Just for the record, I happen to be 24 years old. A coworker brought this book in to show the office, and all of the women adored it. I bought two copies - one for my little cousin and one for myself just for fun (at five years old, I was utterly convinced of my regal status).
I read all of the reviews posted prior to buying, and I think most are pretty accurate. The book itself is beautiful - loaded with inserts, envelopes with surprises and lovely illustrations (some more beautiful than others).
I was aware of the criticism of the books alleged "insensitivity" and pettiness. But for a children's book, it does a great job of interjecting some multiculturalism (has a Princesses of the World section) and a nice message at the end that "being a true princess is about treating all living creatures with kindness and generosity and about accepting people for who they are...."
As an adult, I was especially fond of the "How to Recognize a Fairy Godmother section" and the book's advice about good and bad princes. This is definitely a fun little book I'll treasure.
Cute Book.......2007-07-12
I bought this book for my granddaughter's 8th birthday. She just loved the activities and the pictures. Any one that likes princess stories will like this story book.
A Princess Prmer.......2007-05-07
Everyone has been so pleased with this book. Saturday it was actually being passed around the family with lots of ooos & ahhhs. Very worthwhile book.
princess 101.......2007-04-04
any girl who wants to be a princess will love this book. just like the ology books but for little girls. gave this book to a 7 yr old and she drags this book everywhere.
Great gift for a little girl.......2007-03-23
My almost-5-year-old niece adores everything princess, so I bought this along with "Fairyology" for her birthday, as well as "Fancy Nancy" and "Pinkalicious." This book is her favorite of all of them. She sits and makes up stories based on the things in the pictures, and tells them to her parents!
I have to agree to some extent with the other reviewer, regarding the "shallowness" of some of the things in the book. I would have loved to see more about learning how to be responsible and a good leader..but it's a bit difficult to work that sort of thing into this type of format. My niece adores the flip-dresses, and the different jewels and things, and let's face it, that's the appeal of the whole princess thing anyway! And at least there are some bits and pieces about manners and politeness.
If you're looking for something fun to entertain your little girl who likes princesses, then this is a great book that can really stimulate some creativity. If you're looking for something to teach life lessons, then you might want to look elsewhere.

Bartholomew and the Oobleck easily qualifies as a Seuss classic, first told way back in 1949. And its message--the importance of owning up to your mistakes and saying that you're sorry--is as timeless now as it was then.
Bartholomew Cubbins serves thanklessly as pageboy to King Derwin of Didd, a headstrong man who's decided he isn't satisfied with mere sun, fog, rain, and snow. ("Humph! The things that come down from my sky!") He wants something else, something uniquely his own, so he calls in his royal magicians ("Shuffle, duffle, muzzle, muff. Fista, wista, mista-cuff. We are men of groans and howls, mystic men who eat boiled owls"). Happy to oblige, the magicians tell the king they can make "oobleck" fall from the sky, only nobody--not even the magicians--knows just what oobleck is. But after a night of arcane incantations, everyone in the kingdom gets a taste of the stuff (in the case of the Captain of the Guard, literally!), as the green, gluey goo gums up everything in sight.
Of course, Bartholomew tries to help, but it's up to the king to save the day, as he learns to utter not magic words but simple words with magic in them: "I'm sorry." (Ages 4 to 8) --Paul Hughes
Book Description
Illus. in color by the author. An ooey-gooey, green oobleck was not exactly what the king had in mind when he ordered something extra-special from his royal magicians.

Always loved the book........2007-05-10
I had loved the book as a child myself. So I bought it for my neice. We read it together and she loves it as well. I haven't met a child (or adult) that doesn't like Dr. Seuss!
A classic for any age.......2007-01-12
This was a gift for my niece. The adults in the room enjoyed it as much as she did.
Seuss is classic.......2007-01-05

In this delightful story, the king refuses to leave his bathtub and rule the kingdom. “Beauty aside, this also has a panache and sly wit that will please children and their parents, who will be called on to peruse the book again and again.”--Booklist
Customer Reviews:
You child will love this book!.......2007-08-23
Audrey and Don Wood books are always a delight to read with children. The story is fun and the illustrations are superb! The CD with this brings the story to life for the non-reading child while those reading can follow along with the text.
This story has established its place on my bookshelf as one of the all-time favorites! I would highly recommend this book to children of all ages. You can't help but have a great time reading this story!
GREAT CHILDREN'S BOOK.......2007-06-12
This book, in the manner of all of Don and Audrey Woods' books, is entertaining and fun-filled. The premise of the story is priceless - the King is in the bathtub and he won't get out. And the different solutions to the problem that are presented are funny. And, of course, who comes to the rescue, and how? Awwww, read it to find out! This book is great for kids and adults too. :)
Probably one of the best children's books around.......2007-05-07
This is our absolute favorite book that we read to our one year old son. We started reading it to him at around 3 months and he liked it then, and it continues to be one of his favorites. The book we received came with a CD which is fabulous and perfect for long car rides. At six months, I would play the CD at home near the end of the day or before bed time when he was on the verge of fussiness and it cheered him up right away. He dances to the songs and is absolutely calm and entranced when we listen to it in the car. Purchased the book and CD for my nieces, ages 7, 4, and 2 and they love it as well. Definitely, a winner for birth through at least 7 years. The illustrations are enchanting. A must have for every child.
This book should be on your bookshelf.......2007-02-05
It's fun to read. The illustrations are incredible. The text is word perfect. The King is likable and how can't you agree with his every edict?
If you have never heard of this book, then today is your lucky day.
That being said, I will amend my review title: This book should be on your kid(s)' bedside table. It'll be many months before it is back on the bookshelf.
I put it up there with Goodnight Moon and Where the Wild Thing's Are. A perfect read for children (and adults) in between those books, in fact.
King Bidgood's in the Bathtub........2007-02-03
This is one of my favorite childrens books. The illustrations are fabulous and it's a story with a lesson. When all else fails, use common sense. I love reading this book to my grandchildren. There is so much detail in each page it keeps their attention. AAAA+

The Story of Babar--the early adventures of the enduring, endearing elephant--was written in 1931 by French writer Jean de Brunhoff (1899-1937). Since then, it has been translated into at least 12 languages. It's amazing how much can happen to one little elephant in the course of one little book: Babar loses his mother to a hunter, wanders into the city, gets a new wardrobe, becomes the hit of high society, marries his cousin Céleste (totally acceptable in contemporary Elephantine society), and is crowned King of the Elephants.
The Story of Babar is essentially the tale of a country boy who comes to the city and, while there, comes of age. In the end, he returns home to share his knowledge and experiences with family and friends. The beautiful, delightfully detailed illustrations--de Brunhoff was a painter by trade--never fail to amuse. (Although none of the characters seem to notice, the sight of Babar in a suit leaning against the mantel while he regales his audience with tales of the jungle is plainly hilarious.) All of the Babar books are notable for their ability to tell larger stories with simplicity and style, and The Story of Babar is no exception. Potentially troubling moments--the death of Babar's mother, for example--are handled with taste, emphasizing Babar's unique gift for uncovering a silver lining in the most persistent of clouds. (Ages 4 to 8, though the cursive writing makes it best for reading aloud.)
Book Description
The classic first story about literature’s most beloved pachyderm. After his mother is killed by a hunter, Babar avoids capture by escaping to the city, where he is befriended by the kindly Old Lady. He becomes educated and cultured and, upon his return to the great forest, is crowned King of the Elephants. Translated from Jean de Brunhoff's original French, the adventures of the world's most popular elephant and his friends have enchanted an three generations. Delightfully amusing illustrations make this short collection of classic Babar tales a book to treasure for children young and old.

Babar -- The Tradition Continues.......2007-01-04
I am in the process of reading Babar to my fourth grandchild, and she loves it! I grew up with the magical story and timeless pictures, as did my kids. My 19-month old granddaughter likes to sit on my lap for what she calls "Bar-Bar." The pages of Babar going for a drive and the wedding party with all the animals are great to play "Where's the....?"
mommy gets killed, kiddo gets fancy new duds, and one elephant eats mushroom and dies.......2006-11-04
Uh, classic or not, I don't care for this book. It's yet another kill the mom book -just lioke all the disney stuff starts out. I don't think this is a good choice for today's wee ones. This is NOT what I'd choose to read at bedtime with my kids at all.
Classic to cherish.......2006-05-26
I had this Babar book as a child and could not resist buying it for my daughter, and I am so happy that I did. This book is so incredible, the pictures and colors so vibrant and the text so incredibly addictive, that your child wil carry it with her forever. I know I have. I was stunned by how much of the dialogue and how many of the pictures I remembered. This book is a reasure that you and your children will share for years to come. Some people my comment about some of the themes, but as a child they went over my head, and as an adult, I recognized how tastefully done they are. Highest possible recommendation
Lovely story.......2006-03-21
This is such an awesome story. I can remember reading it when I was a child. My three-year-old son can't get enough of this book. Other reviewers have expressed concern with the sad parts of the story (Babar's mother killed and the elephant king dying,) but they didn't bother my son a bit. We just talked about what was happening and he was okay. This is a classic!
a classic tale to share with your children.......2005-08-03
I love Babar as much for the pictures as for the story. When I read it again to my daughter, I turned to the page where "Alas, that very day, the King of the elephants had eaten a bad mushroom" and thought wow, I remember that! The resurging memory of that illustration is so keen in my mind, it's as if twenty-plus years had just fallen away. And next comes my very favorite line, for its old-fashioned text and neatness of phrase: "It poisoned him and he became ill, so ill that he died. This was a great calamity." Which is not to say that the story of Babar dwells on sad things, because it doesn't. Whatever happens to Babar he deals with it with grace and moves on. Endlessly adaptable, this is an elephant who so charms the ladies that he woos and wins Celeste in just their brief drive home. The only sticking point for some parents who are encountering this book for the first time and therefore don't have their eyes all misting over with tender rememberances of their own childhood is that Babar is chosen to be the new king of the elephants because he is considered to have "learned so much living among men". If you are trying not to teach your children that humans are above and beyond all other animals, you may not want this subtle message. Overall, I think this book is wonderful and, at the end, when he and Celeste fly away in a hot air balloon to begin their honeymoon, it is clear that the story continues. This can be taken in the vein of allowing for endless opportunity of sequels but I prefer to think of it as the beginning of your child's opportunity to answer "what happens next" and regale you with their own series of stories about the adventures of Babar, the little elephant.

Fun for a while...........2007-05-16
My daugther loved this book the first couple of times she went through it but the objects aren't that hard to find and she was bored with it quickly. Still, the excitement she got from going through it the first time was worth the cost! Maybe she'll forget where everything is in a few months and it will be exciting again.
Great!!!.......2007-01-12
My daughter loves this book. She loves the Where's Waldo books, so she really was excited to get this one. This is a great buy!
***LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!***.......2006-11-06
My toddler is 2.5 and *LOVES* this book. The book has about 6 (I think) different princesses (such as Cinderella, Belle, Ariel, Mulan) in their "settings" and has you "find" about 6 different items...but I have my toddler find other things in the pictures like "where is the dragon?" or "where is the fish"...there is so much to "find" and she is learning new word this way. LOVE it!!!
Disney Princess/Look And Find.......2005-07-03
I like this book.It is a nice book because you have to look for the princesses things. you have to read this book and find the things.
Hours of fun for your little one!.......2004-11-04
My daughter is 2 and this is currently her favorite "book". It is similar to the I Spy books but features the Disney Princesses in their respective settings. Each scene features 6 to 8 hidden items for your child to find. The pictures are exciting and colorful. It is fairly simple to find each item but a definite fun challenge for a pre-schooler, especially if they love the Disney Princesses! My daughter loves doing the same scene over and over again to see if she can remember where the selected items are hidden. The only downside is that I wish there was more of a story paired with each scene.
