This book was shared by a couple considering engagement. Both said the questions were helpful and thought provoking, although simple enough to do 10 questions at a sitting.
They both felt this was an excellent "Book One" in premarital discussions, and would like to see a more in-depth follow-up that has more scripture and deeper discussion and how-to guides on major issues such as finances, children, and spiritual growth and leadership.

there's some good questions in here, but there's also a lot of really christian questions. that's not a bad thing, but my fiance and i already are on strong-footing, religion-wise. i was hoping for more 'non-religious' good questions.

My wife and I used this book while we were dating. This book was so pivitol in our relationship. This has laid a foundation in our relationship for communication. We have gone through all kinds of trials since, and yet the communication skills were laid early and has allowed us to come through those trials. This is a must use resource for any dating couple who is considering the next step.

Not afraid to shy away from controversial or even potentially damning questions -- but if your relationship is real, it is worth answering in all truth. I love that this book is Christ-centered but still keep many questions revelant for any couple, not just Christians.
You simply must talk to each other not only about spiritual issues, but about practical issues you two will face in a marriage, such as finances, future children, whose home you will visit on holidays, personal habits, etc. This book will help you get talking.

this book is amazing. i stumbled upon it in the bookstore and it was the last copy on display. i picked it up and thumbed through it and i was hooked. i'd never heard of the authors and this book. unfortunately i think we give a lot of credit to authors who get on major television shows and some authors that have good stuff to say don't ever get the credit they deserve....
back to the book...it's a great book the chapters are short and sweet (but not too short) and as other reviewers have mentioned the couple has lots of experience as therapists and a real married couple. i plan to suggest to my boyfriend that we read a couple of chapters an evening and discuss them. i really like the concepts in the book and think if you're in a serious relationship leading to marriage you owe it to yourself to get this. i suspect if you're already married you can still benefit too!

this is a must have book, whether or not you're married or even after! My husband and i highlighted sections that meant something to us and discussed them. really helped us over a hump! Highly recommend and it's an easy read.

Background:
I am getting married in about 10 weeks. My fiancé and I have recently had to deal with several issues that have surfaced. We are both very open, well educated and understanding, but all of a sudden we had trouble communicating well regarding several topics. We both come from parents who are remarried, and the overall divorce rate is very high in our family which scares us both. Furthermore, my mother's second marriage is one of those wonderful relationships that are written about in children's fairytales, and lately I have felt pressured that my relationship must to compare to hers.

If you are married, thinking about getting married, or recently married, you owe it to yourself read this book! If you aren't hooked on the book by the end of the table of contents I would be shocked!
I found this book at a local bookstore while browsing through the relationship section and it is GREAT! The book is basically a compilation of mostly lighthearted tips and pointers drawn from real life experience which would take a newly married couple many years to figure out. The book tackles many subjects, which after reading seem so simple and straight forward that I would have felt silly had I not understood them; however the truth is, I had never thought about these subjects, let alone how to deal with them.
After about three hours I am half way through the book and really feel like I am learning lessons that take others years of marriage to learn. The book has also helped my confide in, and understand the many benefits of a long enduring relationship that I had not thought about. Many of the books' subjects also revolve around the controversies and hurtles that a long term relationship will eventually face. The wonderful wisdom that Charlie and Linda Bloom present, is not how to try and avoid these rather unavoidable circumstances, but instead how to use these difficult times to help your marriage grow and become stronger than it would be had these situations not occurred. This is a great feeling, especially for men whose married and single friends often say very derogatory things regarding relationships in general.

For newlyweds or those married for a number of years, this book has many gems of wisdom to offer. My husband and I have been married for 28 years and read the book together and found it refreshing and helpful in some areas where we recognized chronic tension in our relationship. The authors' overall assessments of a variety of relationships and wisdom for handling various issues that arise between committed couples is on target. It is worth reading and would make a good gift for weddings (or anniversaries!)

In communicating and trying to figure out what it is men want, sometimes it's necessary to go directly to the source: men! Michelle McKinney Hammond has done that in her latest book, 101 WAYS TO GET AND KEEP HIS ATTENTION. She has interviewed 100 men of various ages, races, backgrounds, and socioeconomic status to find out exactly what it is they look for in a woman; especially the one they will make their wife. Using their answers and her Christian background, Ms. Hammond has created a step-by-step guide for women interested in getting inside a man's heart, while simultaneously making themselves better people.
Although the book is spiritually based with scriptures and guidance from God's teachings, it is also broken down into the basics of what most men agree attracts them to women. Using the five senses as the focus, this book is indeed a repository of information for becoming the woman who not only interests a man, but also one who is pleasing to God. It's no big secret that men enjoy the physical appearance of women, but 101 WAYS TO GET AND KEEP HIS ATTENTION delves a bit deeper into the man's psyche and shows his vulnerability, his desire for love, affection, gentleness, and to be appreciated. It further details how our moods, tone, and even touch can make or break his spirit. Great Survery Book.......2004-08-08
I have enjoyed all of Hammond's book to date! Through her writings, she has guided me on finding my dream man, the right ways, which is THE LORD WAY! I have learned so much, I wished I had read her books years ago, it would have saved me so much heartche.
I would have gave this book 5 stars (like I have on her other books), but this is a survey book. Not that their is anything wrong with survey books, but this book seems to be repetative of her other books.
Not Just for Christians........................2003-11-13
This is the second book I have read by Ms. Hammond and I wasn't disappointed at all. In fact I read it in one day. This book is not just for single/married christian women but for any woman who is concerned about how she may or may not appear to the opposite sex or let alone to others as a whole. I recommend this book to all woman if for nothing else as a guide for self examination. Are you projecting the woman that you want others to see? Are you being and displaying the best in order to attract Gods best? Now that's a thought! Ms Hammond is only aiding us ladies with a 101 check list of things to enhance our relationships whether it be with your man or the MAN (God). Read, enjoy, and be blessed.

Okay, firstly, I'd like to thank the reviewer who believes that because Michelle has never been married, she may not be an authority on how to get and keep a man, or the attention of a man. You encouraged me to see just how fast I could buy and read yet another one of Michelle's awesome pieces. The book is classic "Michelle," full of Godly, sound, tried, tested and true advice. I highly recommend it. It is different and that makes it useful and a great, quick read. If you are (or even if you're not) a studier of God's word, you should know that there IS worthy advice according to scripture found in the Song of Solomon, Proverbs and other books of the bible. Michelle reflects that in this book. Buy it! ...NOW: Perhaps some women have been gifted with the patience and wisdom to wait on the RIGHT man, not willing to accept sorry substitutes, no matter how fine, rich or available they may seem. God has the right ONE for all of us. There was a time when I, too questioned Michelle's single status..I'm also single, and would like to have my husband, but in GOD's sovereign time. She is a stunning, intelligent, talented, annointed sister and yes, it puzzles me why God hasn't given her a mate yet. But while she is waiting, you'd be wise to follow the example and teaching that she offers freely. Well, actually for $8.99 plus shipping in this case. The author explains that the materials come from a survey given to men from all walks of life. She was intelligent enough to obtain information from the source, the men women are trying to attract and keep.
This author is an author who hears from God. When you have a relationship with God and allow Him to use you as a vessel, your resume or experience means nothing, when God qualifies you that is all that you need.
I recommend this book whether you are trying to attract and keep a man or not. It reminds you to do what is necessary to reflect what God created you to be, a beautiful, confident woman.

Wow. One hundred and one complete blueprints for a romantic seduction scene. Once a week you and your beloved are supposed to pick a scenario from the book; they're packaged so that they can't be read until they're torn out and opened, so neither of you will have a clue what the other has in store for you. (No cheating!) Icons on the front pages of each plan let you know the approximate cost, whether travel or food is involved, and whether it should be chosen during a particular season. My sister in law had the older version of this book, and she showed it to my wife. We wanted something to make our love-life more exciting.
When we ordered it, we found out it was updated, and improved! The seductions are easy to setup and do, with five-star results!
I get romance points with my wife by ripping out the envelopes with these cool ideas, and going to the trouble to make them happen. (Not much trouble, when it's all planned out for you.)
I love it when I get a teaser in my email from the website. It really increases the anticipation, if you know what I mean!

Got this book as an anniversary gift for DH. It is grrreat! You rip out a sealed 'envelope' and open it up for an awesome seduction, complete with ingredients and instructions. We love knowing the other has something planned, but not knowing what it is until it happens!
101 Nights has been completely updated with a new cover, new seduction ideas, and a link to Laura's website where you can send an eCard or an iTease before you seduce your partner. The iTeases are grrreat, too! They add a little mystery and fun to the whole process.

I got this book from a friend who's always giving me fun, short reads. It's an ok book. I saw some other posts saying that this is for people who have no clue and it's true. I believe you can learn at least a little something from every book out there, so I will finish it, but I haven't found anything extraordinary so far.
Insightful for those who don't clue in.......2006-05-21
This is an insightful read for those who want to learn how to flirt, how to charm people, and/or how to read people better. The book is a quick and enjoyable read. It goes into how to charm all different types of people and mentions the differences (visual, auditory, etc.) and how to recognize these and still charm them. It's past 8th grade material and has some good examples on how to make good impressions on people just by simple little acts like asking questions rather than talking about yourself, or when making a point touch their elbow for a strong effect. So far I've put quite a few of the practical tips to use and have gotten excellent results. At first I thought flirting was kind of degrading as most girls tend to just act dumb and giddy, but this book talks about how flirting is just for fun, you can flirt with the same sex or opposite and it's just about making the other person feel good about themselves. I recommend this for a fun read that can be insightful, even to a seasoned flirter.

I bought this book for my sister-in-law as a gift for her personal bridal shower. She LOVED it!!
I paged through the book a little before giving it to her and I thought it was great as well. Full of fun trivia, great information and tips, and bright and colorful photography. The layout is really nice - modern and eye-catching!
As for the content, I learned things just from the little that I read as I was skimming through it!
I would HIGHLY recommend this for anyone who wants to learn about the different sex toys out there (Who knew there were SOOO many?!) - expecially women, since this book really does strive to make women feel comfortable and welcome in the world of pleasure enhancers that has previously been somewhat intimidating to the fairer sex.
Thanks to the authors, artists, and editors that made this book so fun - both to read and to look at! :)

Written by the founders of the store Toys in Babeland this book is truly an uninhibited guide to erotic toys. Written in modern day language this book is a great reference guide, especially if you happen to be too shy to walk into your local sexual aid store. If you don't live in a very big town you probably will not find a store with an informed staff that can show you what's available and help you pick out a toy to meet your needs so this book is a perfect guide.
I must confess, in the past I've never been interested in toys so this book was quite refreshing to read. It gives you a great introduction to the toys available on the market. There are ten chapters that cover sexual anatomy (briefly), sexual expression & communication, vibrators, dildos & strap-ons, toys for men, lubricant (a whole chapter, WOW), bondage & domination, SM, and safety. Each chapter gives you, in detail everything you need to know about the highlighted toy pictured from what it's made of, to how to care for the toy. They even tell you the history of such toys and how to use each one featured in the book.
This book is not only aesthetically pleasing to the eye with its colorful still life photographs of sexual toys but its overall design, texture, and feel. It's just heavy enough to warrant the price I paid for it, every page is glossy & smooth, and the writing is forward & fun. Where else will you see a section titled, `Dildos are for everyone'.
Oh, before I forget, my favorite thing in the whole book was the "Wondrous Vulva Puppet" by House O'Chicks. It so intrigued me and it was beautiful.
It's a great book full of fun stuff but with all that great info no where did I see how to use those `ben wa' balls I got for Christmas, but don't let that stop you from reading this book. It's great.

Colorful and well-written.......2004-06-10
On one hand this is a product manual hyping what "Toys in Babeland" sells but it is also a great example of sexual information made fun and readily available. The photographs are excellent and well laid out so the book is pleasing visually. The information is well-written and well-researched with opinions back by experience and facts. Contrary to the store's name, there is not just toys and information for women. There are also nice little stories about how the store has affected people's lives, both customers and workers. I just wish the resource list was longer.

I'm a Romance Coach, so every time I go to a bookstore, I cruise
the "Relationships" section to see what's new and interesting. I look for something "meaty" usually, thick, weighty, and serious, hopefully saying something new that I can add to my toolbox. On my last trip, I impulsively added an unusual choice -- the small, thin, and light-weight looking "Is He the One?" by Susan Swimmer. 6 by 6 inches, only 120 pages, and covered in pastels with a swoony looking cartoon woman asking the question ("Is He the One?" in a balloon over her head), it just didn't grab me, and I read all the books I bought first before even opening it.
Well, was I surprised. Yes, it's simple, and yes, it's a light-
weight and easy read. But Susan Swimmer has come up with some
heavy-weight questions to ask yourself about a prospective mate.
"How will I know if he's the one?" is a question I get asked
regularly, and Swimmer gives us some concrete mini-tests as a way of finding out.
Here are some of my favorites (and ones my Sweetheart would have
passed with flying colors): When he has a piece of news, does he call you first? Will he share his desert at a restaurant? Do you know how much money he has? And the last one, a real
cruncher: Would you marry him even if there were no reception,
not party, no nothing? Which is of course about you and not
him.
So if you wonder how you will KNOW, this might be a good book for you to add to your romance library.

i'm 30 and this book is really good...me and my girlfriends discussed the questions and they are dead on...not pie in the sky stuff but real things to help you think about whether you've got a keep or one you need to throw back. the stats, myths, and other factoids make this a nice book and worth the money. give it as a gift to a friend who's trying to figure it all out!!

On page 37 in the part about flirting props, the author mentions her friend "Kate," who attracted lots of men on the street simply by carrying a radio during the last game of the 1994 World Series. An interesting anecdote. Interesting because THERE WAS NO WORLD SERIES IN 1994! It was cancelled because of the players' strike. Moral of the story: When making up anecdotes for your book, try to hire a fact checker!

A great book for those just starting on the gay dating scene, or for those who haven't been having much luck. This book guides you from A-Z on how to date, how to avoid many of the pitfalls that gay men face while dating, and how to make a relationship last. My only major disagreement is that the author states that most gay men go through a 'slut stage' before they are ready to settle for love. This may be true for a large number of gay men, but I know many others that wait for love to have sex. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants a good general guide to dating other men.

After reading the bread and butter gay dating books (e.g. "the MANdates") Dating 101 emerged from the stack. Most importantly, the author Jim Sullivan gives practical advice to integrate into your everyday life. Using real cases of men he worked with, Sullivan addresses the psychology of many gay relationships while helping the reader understand what successful relationships and dating should look like. This means recognizing the "red flags" faster while gaining a clearer understanding of your own issues.
An earlier reviewer complained: the book did not help him meet science geeks. In context, it seems like this reviewers issues are more with the gay community than the text. Clearly, Morrison cannot address every social niche. Despite this, Morrison works will all sorts of men and he offers advice on how to meet men and expand your social circle.
If you want a textbook on dating, you have come to the wrong place. However, for anyone looking for an enjoyable book with practical advice and insight, this text is recommended.

I bought this book somewhat out of curiosity and some because of the other reviews. Well I can tell you what it is is a great book to use to both understand what you are doing right in the dating world, but also what you are doing wrong!! I highly recommend it and have already been doing that to my friends.
