There's no better way to learn a test's structure than from the insideand the 1.2 million students taking the ACT need look no further than this official guide! Packed with tips, strategies, and plenty of subject review, it's the only real guide to the ACT
Customer Reviews:
This is the only source for real test questions.......2007-08-15
This book is the only source for real test questions. There are several knock offs but this is the one and only real deal. College Prep Coach, the premier test company in the country, uses this guide exclusively in its course. If you are serious about ACT test prep this book is a must have item.
If you buy one review guide this should be it........2007-06-25
Prepared by the organization that writes the ACT. As a teacher who helps prep students for the college admissions tests, I know what most students are willing to do. Hours of study and review over a long period of time may be the ideal, but it is an unrealistic ask of most teenagers. Their most efficient use of time is to take practice tests and then look over the problems missed. This book has real questions direct from the source combined with good explanations of all answers. The overall review sections are short and to the point. Students may take practice tests one section at a time to avoid burnout (but must understand why they missed each question). A few hours spent preparing with this method will raise scores, probability of admission to certain schools and the amount of scholarship money a student is likely to earn.
The Best ACT Practice Book...Practice, not Instruction.......2007-05-13
The ACT is quickly becoming an equal competitor to the SAT college entrance exam. Accordingly, the test prep industry is growing up around this relative newcomer-turned-regular on the admissions scene.
This book, published by the ACT organization--the makers of the test--is a fantastic resource for any student or teacher working on test preparation. But, in all honesty it is only worth the [...](a pretty reasonable price) because of the three real practice tests included inside. The rest of the book...the introduction, the strategies, and even the question answer explanations...have been done better by other organizations. It's no slight to the ACT company, but they simply did not choose to share the best strategies to beat their own test.
Still, this book contains the only published real ACTs, and all other companies cannot match their faithfulness to the test (some companies unfortunately are very, very far off). Similarity and accuracy are essential for practicing, because the format, style, and difficulty level of practice problems can vary immensely. Since the best way to practice for the test is to work out real problems, this book is a must-have resource for any student or instructor.
Hopefully the ACT will publish some more tests soon. In the meantime, you can also try and get a hold of their free "Preparing for the ACT" guide which comes out every fall. Each one contains a full practice test, so try and get your hands on them. Good luck practicing!

this book is good if you have an idea as to what it is you are doing ie...remeber this stuff from hs some topics i remembered vaguely and this book doesn't spoon feed you anything you should already know it just basically let you know what to expect...gives you an idea thank god i got it from amazon b/c i wouldn't haven't bought it from barnes and nobles at the price they are selling it for !!!
Reviewing for the ACT with Students.......2007-04-11
I am a high school math teacher and I purchased multiple copies of this book to use as a review for my students in after school review sessions for the ACT. I believe that all of the students who worked with me in these sessions will perform significantly better on the ACT than they otherwise might have.

For Maggies Sake by Lora Leigh: Maggies ex-lover thinks shes hiding information about the deaths of some Navy SEALs. But when a member of a notorious crime family captures and holds her hostage at gunpoint, he realizes hes wrong, and only he can save her life.
Customer Reviews:
Tempting SEALS novella and some filler.......2007-07-30
I bought this for the Tempting SEALs continuation. Although it was just a novella, I didn't want to miss reading Maggie's story. Lora Leigh continues to heat up the pages even with a much shorter story than Dangerous Games. The rest of the short stories were just some filler material which really didn't do much for me.
"For Maggie's Sake" by Lora Leigh.......2007-07-23
The third Tempting SEALs is a novella, "For Maggie's Sake". Maggie, a new widow who was introduced at the end of "Dangerous Games" (Tempting SEALs #2), had once dated Joe Merino, the top DEA agent who led Morganna's team in "Dangerous Games". After months of recently divorced Joe telling Maggie that he would never commit to or love a woman again, she finally took him seriously when he showed up at a society event she was covering for her newspaper with a stacked blonde female stranger on his arm. Maggie hadn't even known he was planning on attending. She got the message, and removed herself completely from his life -- even though he wasn't done with her yet. But she stood fast, trying to protect her broken heart, and six months later she got married, even though she doubted the wisdom of that step when her fiance told her a couple of days before the wedding that Joe Merino was his best friend. She was very lonely, though, and she felt she could come to love the nice man her fiance had portrayed himself as, so she went through with it.
It was the biggest mistake she ever made. She couldn't even leave her husband; she found that out three months into the marriage when she tried to and discovered he had damaging information about her father from his youthful years, and her husband was more than willing to blackmail her into staying with him. Now, two years later, with her husband dead and proven to be a U.S. traitor, she found herself under suspicion of being her husband's accessory -- because he had left journals behind saying that she was. Unfortunately, not only was Maggie completely innocent of all the suspicions being held against her, she also discovered, after a week in Joe's company in a remote safe house, that not only did she still love Joe, but she had never stopped. And Joe was one of the agents who thought she was lying about her lack of involvement with her husband's treacherous activities. To put the icing on the cake, the cartel to whom her husband had been feeding information thought she was lying, too...and they desperately wanted to get their unfriendly hands on her.
Note: Although, as usual, this is a sexually explicit Lora Leigh story, Joe is not into BSDM, unlike Clint in Tempting SEALs #2.
Check out the others in the Tempting SEALs series: The novella "Reno's Chance" in Honk If You Love Real Men (Tempting SEALs, Book 1); the novel Dangerous Games (Tempting SEALs, Book 2) and the novel Hidden Agendas (Tempting SEALs, Book 4).
Real Men Do It Better.......2007-07-05
Loved this and I really liked the lora leigh book. She writes some very steamy scences.
Four Wonderful Stories by four great Authors!.......2007-05-12
All four of these stories are wonderful. I bought the book because of Lora Leigh. Love the Tempting Seals Stories, Love her books. The other 3 stories were an added bonus, all great.
four fun lighthearted contemporary romances .......2007-02-11
"His Body Electric" by Carrie Alexander. The storm shut down Karen's phone sex business Cock-A-Doodle. It also brought Tomzak to her farmhouse seeking shelter. The attraction is electric.
"Bed and Breakfast" by Susan Donovan. High strung corporate executive Kate left Los Angeles for a spiritual retreat in the New Mexico desert. However, she arrives just before a torrent occurs only to find the Windwalker Lodge closed for renovation. Jorey allows her to stay, but he soon teaches her more on the impact of the spirit of the flesh has on the mind.
"For Maggie's Sake" by Lora Leigh. Joe believes the woman he loved and lost two years ago is involved with a dangerous drug lord who has killed some Navy SEALs. He reassesses his belief when his Maggie is abducted.
"Siren's Call" by Lori Wilde. When her grandfather broke his hip, Annie comes home to St. Augustine to keep his dive shop afloat. As she expects to return to Manhattan, diving instructor Duncan enters the shop. He knows he made the mistake of his life when he decided he was not good enough for his beloved Annie and ended their fling. Now he has a second chance to rectify his error.
These are four fun lighthearted contemporary romances starring reasonably developed likable protagonists.

Kat's Review On SAP R/3 Plant Maintenance.......2007-09-17
It is very good book to map business process between Client & SAP R/3.
Every Functional Consultant should have this book as a refference.
One of the few decent resource tools for SAP.......2007-03-22
A good resource, help tool for SAP users. You will need to be somewhat familiar with SAP to appreciate this book, however, I would recommend purchasing it as a reference tool. Easy explanations and complete.
Teaches the fundamental concepts of SAP PM.......2006-09-21
Rather than trying to be a detailed guide to Plant Maintenance, a comprehensive reference book, or a source of answers to complex problems, Stengl tries to teach the fundamental concepts of SAP PM.
A very basic introductory book that demystifies the PM module. Aimed at the newcomer to SAP R/3, the book is a great guide. And a guide any new traveler must have to navigate the highways and back roads of SAP. It works best as a supplement to a SAP-PM course, but lacks the depth of a resource book.
In Chapter 4 - "Objects in R/3 PM", the authors do a good job of explaining the relationship of Functional Locations, Equipment, PM Assemblies, and Materials. Chapter 5 attempts to tackle breakdown and corrective maintenance, having worked as a Maintenance Planner, my first reaction was humor. In a perfect world, the roles of Maintenance Planner, Maintenance Technician, and Maintenance Controller would be this structured and defined. In the real world things are not so black and white.
Buy the book if you are new to SAP PM. It is a nice entry point. If you are approaching the Plant Maintenance with prior SAP experience then I recommend skimming the chapters in a bookshop before buying online.

There have been good reviews or this book, but somehow I do not think it suited me as much as I would have liked. Nevertheless, it is a helpful reference that enabled me to refresh some concepts on the field of Plant Maintenance in SAP.

This is a very useful book on SAP PM.This covers recent Version of of SAP PM ie 4.6x.Flow is smooth.Transaction codes are also available for quick navigation.
Book Description
Written by an expert in the game industry, Christer Ericson's new book is a comprehensive guide to the components of efficient real-time collision detection systems. The book provides the tools and know-how needed to implement industrial-strength collision detection for the highly detailed dynamic environments of applications such as 3D games, virtual reality applications, and physical simulators.
Of the many topics covered, a key focus is on spatial and object partitioning through a wide variety of grids, trees, and sorting methods. The author also presents a large collection of intersection and distance tests for both simple and complex geometric shapes. Sections on vector and matrix algebra provide the background for advanced topics such as Voronoi regions, Minkowski sums, and linear and quadratic programming.
Of utmost importance to programmers but rarely discussed in this much detail in other books are the chapters covering numerical and geometric robustness, both essential topics for collision detection systems. Also unique are the chapters discussing how graphics hardware can assist in collision detection computations and on advanced optimization for modern computer architectures. All in all, this comprehensive book will become the industry standard for years to come.
*Presents algorithms and data structures with wide applications to the fields of game development, virtual reality, physically based simulation, CAD/CAM, architectural and scientific visualization, molecular modeling, engineering simulation, GIS, ray tracing, and more.
*Describes tested, real-world methods, liberally illustrated by C & C++ code.
*Reviews necessary concepts from mathematics and computational geometry, and includes extensive references to other sources and research literature.
Customer Reviews:
Excellent explanations of collision detection algorithms and their optimization.......2007-07-20
The first half of this book explains the most popular collision detection functions. The collisions presented are mostly in 3D, but there are also some 2D versions. You can use Amazon's "Search Inside" option and take a look at the content table, which shows a large variety of shape vs shape tests. Most of the functions are explained using advanced math, and that's ok because there is no other way to show were the concepts of the book come from. There is an introductory chapter on the math used in the book, but it isn't enough. In my opinion it would have been better to remove that chapter and add some more explanations and algorithms on dynamic collisions.
Most of the second half of the book deals with the different structures to optimize collision detection queries, showing pros and cons for all of them, so the developer can select the one that best fits it's project. The last part of the book is on hardware optimizations.
I agree with other reviewers the CD doesn't bring enough code, and no executable code at all. What one finds in the CD are the pieces of code exactly as they are printed in the sheets, sorted in files by chapter. In my opinion that presentation makes the author look like he is just adapting the algorithms from other papers. Having runnable code is not just a fancy feature, but a necessity for programmers. With compilable code one can see how it works, getting a better idea of how the algorithms are integrated in the actual graphical engine, and it's also a proof the code has no bugs (otherwise reveals them). I'm removing 1 star only because of this reason, hoping a new edition will enhance the content.
This book saves a lot of research, time and money. Just compare this table of collision tests: http://www.realtimerendering.com/int/ with the book's content. You will see that many of these tests are explained and included in the book (and there are some more not in that table). This book is a great compilation of those algorithms which are pretty dispersed in papers and books.
worth every dollar.......2007-06-02
Two things stand out about this author: 1) he drives every discussion toward performance issues, and 2) he provides just enough source code for a developer like me to lock in the concepts. That's a great combo that makes this book a hands-down winner.
I've never worked in gaming. I've been doing CAD/CAE/CAM, mostly with Java and CATIA v4 / STEP data, for ten years. I'm currently involved in a robotics planning project, where I've been able to model all the kinematics of an 8-DOF robot system, but the scale of the collision detection challenges has overwhelmed me...until reading this book.
Best collision book i've seen so far.......2007-03-03
I've read MANY collision detection books over the years and this is by far the best one i've seen to teach programmers how to LEARN collision detection from basic tests to highly advanced algorithms.
A comprehensive reference and tutorial on game geometry.......2006-11-15
This book does more than collision.
Don't get me wrong -- it does all of the collision you'll likely need in any kind of current game, in good detail, with derivation of why it works, including source code. However, it also serves as an excellent primer in game geometry for anyone who might not have an intuitive understanding of what a closed manifold mesh is, or why the separating axis theorem works, or why T junctions are a problem.
I'm pretty well versed in the field, and I use this book as a comprehensive reference, and I love it. But even if you're a newcomer, you need this book, because it contains everything you need to know! And, conversely, if you don't know what's in this book, you won't have the success you want.
Best of its class.......2006-09-22
For such difficult topics, this book is surprisingly readable, accessible, and has plenty of source code to get you started. It also has one of the best sections I have ever seen about floating point accuracy and numerical stability. In addition, it has some of the best coverage of BSP trees, KDE trees, and other spatial organization. That alone makes it worth the price of the book.
Also, the book has a great bibliography that directs you to more advanced papers should you need something specialized. And finally, you do not have to be a genius to work through the algorithms. Anyone with a basic knowledge of vector algebra and a little linear algebra can work through the algorithms, if you are diligent and persistent. As a professional 3D programmer new to my field, I find it a great plus whenever I come across a resource that can save time in such an in-depth field.

Can't believe it.......2007-09-18
I'm surprised that I'm giving this book 5 stars, since I picked it up by accident not realizing it was Christian fiction. I planned on disliking and nitpicking it to death.
It was lovely. The characters are well written and sympathetic; I honestly cared about them and cheered them on. The theology is well-founded and not preachy. The moral situations are realistic. I expected to be highly offended by the discussion around abortion, but found the touchy topic handled in a caring and balanced manner.
Can't wait to read the others in the series.
Great experience.......2007-09-14
The book was in very good shape like mentioned and delievered without any problems....great purchase!!!
Love these Ladies.......2007-07-12
Can't single out just one book in the Yada Yada group. I bought the first one on a lark, and couldn't stop. I've preordered the latest. The women all have their virtues and their faults. Their life-scars make them beautiful. I'll never be as adept as Avis, but I'm trying, Jodi, I'm really trying to remember the gratitude!
Never a dull moment.......2007-03-08
The Yada Yada sisters are back again. This time around the group is facing issues such as Avis dating again after being widowed, Stu moving in above Jodi and the two clashing over their personalities and Delores' son wanting to date Jodi's daughter. The group is also trying to help out the same woman who threatened their lives some months ago. While there is dispute over how the matter should be treated, the group still finds time to bond together, helping each other out in times of sorrow, distress, and happiness.
This book is as real as real life is. I've never read a book where I feel like I'm actually living the lives of the characters. They have so much going on in their lives that I wish I could participate in. I really liked Amanda's quinceanera and what Denny did for her. I wish more father's were that loving towards their daughters, society would be so much better off if they did. I also liked the Polar Plunge opening in the beginning of the book. No way you would catch me doing that! The writing of this book immediately hooks you thus making the books very addictive. You can't stop reading because they are so much like a slice of real life. The news stories sprinkled throughout the book add to the realism. Even though the main character is Jodi, because the group is so diverse it is easy to find someone in the group you can relate to. Once again my only complaint about the book is the way the relationship with Becky is handled. Like I said before I have no problems with forgiving someone for the wrong they did to you and it's good of them to help her out. It just seems to me that in the book, the group members who feel uncomfortable around Becky or are still being affected by what she did to them are in the wrong and not as spiritually mature as the ones that have moved on. I have been in a similar scenario with Jodi and it took me a while to get over it but it wasn't because of weak faith. It just seems very unrealistic and makes the reader feel that you're not good enough of a Christian. But that just proves the power of good writing, if it makes you rethink about what you believe in.
Love it!.......2007-01-16
I love all the books in this series. I recommend starting at Book 1...it is not a series that I feel you could jump into in the middle. Can't wait for more in the series!
Book Description
Begun in 1934, this final volume of Gurdjieff's trilogy, All and Everything, is a primary source for Gurdjieff's ideas, methods, and biography. Gurdjieff offers guidance to his "community of seekers," through a selection of talks given in 1930, autobiographical material crucial to understanding his ideas, and the incomplete essay "The Outer and Inner World of Man." Available for the first time in paperback, this is the ultimate piece of Gurdjieff's work that his numerous followers have been waiting for.
Customer Reviews:
Nothing much to discuss.......2006-08-28
This book isn't a book, it represents a means for transferring a higher knowledge. As such, its value for the reader depends on the readers essence, and his ability to use this means. To me, it has great value. For a casual reader it will be incomprehensible.
Good G, Worse Presentation.......2004-08-03
First part of this book is okay - reveals the mystical part of G. Rest is difficult to follow, probably because of the rigid translation. If someone who is familiar with G attempts to translate this book again, that will be a great service to humanity.
I could tastefully swallow G through "Views form the Real World" and "In Search of the Miraculius" than any of his books although "Belzebe" and "Meeting with.." are lot better than this "I am..".
G has a great influence in moulding my spiritual journey and I hate to see a book that's so badly translated and presented.
difficult to understand idea.......2003-03-31
This work takes many hours of self examination and doing what you find uncomfortable then examining your thoughts as to why.
The idea is to see what really is rather than what you automatically think and feel. This work will expand your abilities to look and see things from your individual perspective and react from a intergrated rather than a fractured mental process. The process allows you to see others in their fractured states and without understanding of why they react the way they do as they think from a small universe of habits.Once you become free of habitual thinkings and habits a third force comes into play and enlightens the struggle of your-self opposing nature-this is what is divine essence in this work.Keep in mind nature wants to receate you without your essence but knowing your indivuality fights nature.Using your personality to understand the essence of your indivuality is difficult and much like a search in a dark room but the third element is anchored by way of the sychronicity of events in your life and its time line but your mind must be free of its learned ways to see and be guided.Once your path is established un-natural- things will happen -it is magic!Fight nature and you knock it off balance and the laws of the universe begin to release their hold on your reality -sounds insane but you will be the most sane as you look out and see who has really examined their reality inside out and upside down. Good luck!
Translationus Horrificus.......2002-07-05
I would have to recomend that you skip this installment of the Guirdjeff triology. If you have read Beelzebub or Remarkable Men then there really is no need to waste your time lumbering through what can only be described as disjointed and stuttering translation. Perhaps the worst translation ever - which is saying alot considering Penguin's long lineage of word butchery. If you must read this - learn French and read the original or skip to the last third of the Penguin version. The last third is really the only information worth reading in either language. The first 100 or so pages has Gurdjieff is a rather false humility trying to matter a factly self grandize his life and work. Not the last taste of his remarkable ideas and life that you want on your lips.
Good stuff in the back.......2001-09-05
Gurdjieff was certainly a man ahead of his time and shares with us terrific insights and exercises that could possibly help raise one's consciousness. And I have no doubt that there are many people who have found a path of discovering about Self through his teachings. I can understand why Gurdjieff's teachings are taught directly from teacher to pupil. Be sure to do research about the groups of people around the world who pass on G's teachings. This book does not do justice to those teachings. It is only a glimpse of it.
Whats more, this book makes for difficult reading. Probably because the translation from Russian is not in the most concise and clear manner. In many instances, you will find that the parts of a normal english sentence now come in a very different order, and that one sentence can be full of interjections and are so long as to make one paragraph. I have an easy time conversing with people whose foreign accents and awkward english translation permeate their words. But I didn't have such an easy time of it when reading a translated version from Russian such as this. If you are used to reading books that are written in easy-to-read english, and find dialectic tones difficult to read through, than this book will indeed be a hard read.
If you want to learn a bit more from Gurdjieff's wisdom---his philosophy and cosmology, than try other books by Gurddjieff and/or his pupils. Search the web on his biography to know more about him. Choose your purchase well.
Customer Reviews:
Very good. .......2007-03-26
I think this is a great book for young girls. I wish there had been something like this when I was this age. As a mother to an 8 year old I found all these clever hints and tips to be great help. My only complaint with American Girl is that they never feature special needs or disabled children. My daughter has Down syndrome and it would be great to see the American Girl company actually include these children in their population of American Girls.
The book is bright, colorful and easy to read. There are lots of checklists and creative ideas to help girls feel better about themselves. These are also things that parents can start doing with their younger girls. I think the target is the tweens... 10-13 year olds, but I believe that younger girls can benefit a lot from this.
Great Series of Books.......2007-01-19
Good book bought it for my daughter she really enjoyed reading it. A+++++++++
Real Beauty / American Girl.......2007-01-12
Great book for the pre-teen or early teens. Good to promote high self esteem.
Another great American Girl book........2007-01-10
As with all the American Girl self improvement/self esteem books this book is great. My 10 year old daughter loves all the American Girl Books. It's nice to have some well written and common sense books for young girls to help them with the transition to adolescence.
Great Book.......2006-10-09
This is a really good book, I'm 12 and I got this book when I was about 10. Still, whenever I'm feeling down or a little upset I always enjoy curling up in bed and reading Real Beauty. It really does make you feel better about yourself. I think It is a very good book for pre-teens and teens.
Customer Reviews:
Often inflates your score!.......2000-09-14
Hey, don't waste your money!!
You can now get the new version, v3.0 for FREE!
Just go to the official GMAT site to download it!
The big problem with this software is that most of my students get a higher score on this than on the real test, so remember that when you're preparing.
Good luck on your test!
Badly needed update will be published in June of 2000!.......2000-04-05
I run a test prep service and am *very* familiar with this product.
ETS (the company that makes the GMAT, GRE, and SAT) released this software soon after they switched over from the paper-based format to the current computer adaptive test.
What does this mean? Well, in a word, you are buying a beta-version of the current GMAT: the real GMAT is *much* more difficult than this test!
Many of our students can ace this test, yet they get 100 to 200 points *less* on the real test!
Why is this? Well, part of the reason is that most of the questions from this software comes from the official GMAT book and many students become familiar with that book before they take the test.
What are some other reasons?
Well, the math questions that you will get with this software are not as hard as the real ones if you are scoring pretty high (over 80%).
The reading passages on the real test are longer than the ones you will find in this program, as well.
Finally, since the GMAT is now adaptive, the order of questions is important--for example, if you excel at sentence correction and the first few questions are sentence correction, then you will get a high score. However, if you are not good at sentence correction, then your score will be abysmally low.
In short, this is the best prep available right now, but, if you can, wait for the 3.0 release in June of 2000.
Best of luck on your test!!!!!
Save your money!.......2000-03-01
This software does not give you anything new. The "Official Guide for the GMAT" by ETS already has the same practice problems.
I found the software in "Cracking the GMAT CAT" by the Princeton Review to me much more helpful.
Easier than the real thing.......2000-01-28
I studied for the GMAT using this software and the ARCO GMAT study book. I did not find nearly the same types of questions on the real thing (quantitative section) as in the practice software--exponets, geometry, proportions, etc. I wonder if due to the intense studying of their practice software if the ETS folks revamped the GMAT test. It is helpful, but don't bet too much on it. I scored much higher on the practice tests than on the real bugger (taken Jan 2000).
Not for NT.......2000-01-06
I have installed this on NT, but cannot get the tests or any sample questions to appear. I get a "limited system resource" error, but this is bogus with my setup.
