Felt by many to be the Gold standard in orthopedic fracture care. The text is comprehensive, providing in-depth literature reviews and the authors prefered method of treatment. The text formatting style makes it difficult to quickly/easily obtain the "need to know" information regarding a particular topic. Overall, well worth it.

Needed an Orthopaedic Surgeon After Lifting Them!!.......2007-08-25
Seriously though, while these suckers are friggin' heavy, they are some of the best resources you can get your hands on when it comes to the shoulder. The two volumes offer quite a bit of comprehensive information on just about every shoulder condition you'll run across in the clinic (or hospital). Obviously they aren't for the general public, so if you're a layperson without a medical background, you should skip these. Rather, they're geared toward medical people such as ortho docs, surgeons, PT's, or any other professionals who deal with shoulder patients regularly. Also recommend Treat Your Own Rotator Cuff for anyone who has shoulder pain or rotator cuff issues. It's for patients but can come in quite handy for the surgeon with overworked shoulders as well!

Overall an excellent resource for the orthopaedic shoulder surgeon. The basic science is sound and review of the literature is generally thorough. The glaring failure of this book is its coverage of arthroscopic topics (or lack thereof). Clearly arthroscopic shoulder surgery has been revolutionary to the advancement of our understanding and treatment of the shoulder and although the primary author still considers it the "tool of the devil", arthroscopy is now KING when it comes to the shoulder. Hopefully the next edition of this fine textbook will include material and video from some of the current experts in the field of shoulder arthroscopy.
THE BEST BOOK ON SHOULDER PATHOLOGY WORLDWIDELY.......2004-04-21
I'm a Physical Therapist specialist and researcher on Frozen Shoulder Rehabilitation the last 20 years. I feel the need to thank all the great Proffessors of Orthopaedics and authors of this superb book that offered to me so extensive in -depth view descriptions on anatomy, pathology and treatment options on Shoulder disorders that I couldn't find in any other book on the field!!! The book helped me to advance my knowledges on Idiopathic Frozen Shoulder. The last years I offer functional rehabilitation to all my patients in the PHYSICAL THERAPY CENTER of NMY - IKA (Prefectural Health Unit) of the city of THESSALONIKI in less than 1 week with my new method called "SAKALI'S METHOD"! This book must be in every serious scientist's and researcher's library, not only for Orthopaedic surgeons but also for every high - level Physical Therapist specialist in Shoulder pathology. This book has help me at lot, a very serious book, with a lot of good referencer. However, as i is with these kind of serious books - some of the latest arthroscopic things is mising, but it is very close to 5 stars.
A practical shoulder textbook.......2000-03-31
This is the second edition of "The Shoulder". A notable improvement from the first edition is the addition of a CD ROM which allows the reader to watch surgical techniques on a PC. The basic textbook itself is excellent. The chapters are well organized and well written. It covers a wide breadth of shoulder topics, and provides practical tips for making diagnoses and carrying out surgical procedures. It is a must for any surgeon who operates on the shoulder.

A book to read .......2006-11-17
After taking a 12 weeks class on the material in the book, I found it had some interest and merit but not the type of material I would want to spend another 12 weeks on. First, if you read Jung you will have a up on the material in the book. It attempts to cross Jung and spirituality in a christian vent and in the end it is neither. Worth reading maybe but something that will alter your life, well that is up to you.

I found out about this book through my church. I was pleasantly surprised by its content. It is for those who feel what the church provides is not enough but what it offers does not compete with church teachings. It remains grounded and does not fly off into 'new-agey' territory. Our church established a monthly evening meeting covering different subjects of the book which have enhanced my appreciation of natural spirituality immensely. It was amazing how many people have experienced natural spirituality everyday but didn't recognize it as such. My only argument was the comparison with the Beatles was a bit far-fetched. She provided an interesting angle on the connection to the White album and integrating different aspects of our personality but it got a tad, bit cheesy (so the four instead of five-star rating). This should not put anyone off reading it who is left unfulfilled by standard church doctrine as this book points those interested in several areas of exploration -- I Ching, Carl Jung, Meyers-Briggs, etc. without venturing too far away from Bible teachings.

This is a most excellent book on Medicine Wheels. I have been studying them for many years now and have used them for ceremonial purposes. The book is an excellent guide and answers many questions for those who want to learn about the power of the wheel. Highly recommend this book, you'll want to keep it handy! Very well written and easy to understand. Great companion book.

When will this author stick to a subject that he knows-- traditional medicine-- and quit inflicting flowery generalities that capitalize on other people's cultures (in this case, Native Peoples) to sell books? This book is so poorly researched it made my head spin (which is about the only shamanic aspect of it that was validated). I returned it immediately and should have learned with past experiences with this author's work.
