Popular speaker and bestselling author Beth Moore writes that one of the purposes of Praying God's Word: Breaking Free from Spiritual Strongholds is to help readers "downsize anything that has a hold on you," including pride, addiction, depression, and lack of forgiveness. This is no name-it-and-claim-it book; rather, it's a thoughtful guide for structured prayer, using the Bible as the framework to build upon. She invites readers to demolish their particular strongholds with "two sticks of dynamite: scripture and prayer," and gives both those new to prayer and seasoned prayer veterans the ability to do so. Chapters are arranged topically, and there are blank pages included for personalized prayers on each subject. To emphasize her points, Moore also scatters nuggets of wisdom throughout the text from writers such as Jim Cymbala, Kay Arthur, Charles Spurgeon, and Francis Frangipane. Even when the "stronghold" has been demolished, Moore urges readers to continue to pray God's Word for general maintenance purposes. It's a message that has found a tremendous amount of resonance with readers for its life-changing potential. --Cindy Crosby

Book Description

How do Christians learn to practice 2 Corinthians 10: 3-5, "tearing down strongholds by captivating our minds with the knowledge of God"? Beth Moore teaches that to be set free from each and every stronghold which claims our lives, we have to replace it with the mind of Christ and fervent daily prayer. Praying God's Word is a topical prayer guide addressing fourteen strongholds and what Scripture reveals about each issue. The Scriptures are presented in prayer form to be incorporated into the daily prayer life as a way of letting God's Word, through prayer, help you overcome the strongholds of bitterness, anger, unforgiveness, and other areas as well.

5 out of 5 stars Life changing info.......2007-08-07

This book came into my life about 7 years ago when I needed some specific direction to help me heal after a destructive marriage and humiliating divorce.
I purchased this for a relative who is going through personal challenges.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent!.......2007-07-23

This book makes a great group study. it really helps identify the stronholds we face and helps show how God's word can help us overcome them!

4 out of 5 stars A Boost to Your Prayer Life.......2007-06-12

I found the sections of scripture in this book that Beth Moore paraphrased into prayers to be very uplifting and inspiring to pray. The prayers help to focus and renew one's mind with God's truth. I don't necessarily care for her devotional sections at the beginning of each chapter but just read the scripture.

5 out of 5 stars Covers everything!.......2007-05-16

This book gives you scripture for every area of potential stronghold in your life, even those you may not be aware of. A must in your devotions, and a real eye opener!

This book continues the authors step-by-step instructions on how to live out our faith in every day life. All the practical steps needed to continue on the journey of walking with God in reality and intimacy.

5 out of 5 stars A life savor for our family.......2007-04-13

Before my parents had gotten a hold of this book, our family was slowly falling apart. Our family was slowly falling into despair and hopelessness. When my parents read the book and started applying the prayers to their lives and our family, they slowly began to change. They have read all three of the Kingdom Series books and they have also read The Unsurrendered Soul. I and my girlfriend are currently finishing "Breaking The Power". It, too, is very good. As she and I have prayed the training-wheel prayers that she has, we have grown and matured...and fast than what we had before. God has literally save us from destruction as a result of the keys in this book and her other books.

Liberty Savard give keys to how to give God more access into your life. What I have learned from her books is that the only reason things seem to not be changing for me is because I still have open doors to satan in my soul. My spirit has been renewed, and God has given me a new heart. The issue lies in my soul (mind, will, and emotions). This book has helped me to become more free in my life and I have become even more open to the working of the Holy Spirit. I would highly recommend this book.

5 out of 5 stars VERY POWERFUL.......2006-10-04

Liberty Savard, I can not tell you how much this book has freed up the space in side of me to make room for God's goodness and endless love that He wants so much for us to share in. It teaches you how to truly let go of all the hurts and pain from our past that we seem to want to hold on to. The moment I was able to test this out for my self God was right there to fill that space with His gifts of freedom. A feeling I can not put into words. At the age of 50 I am finally understanding the life God has always ment for us to have. I highly recomend this book and go on to "Breaking The Power" "Producing The Promise" "Unserenered Soul" and Beyond Shattered Strongholds" Liberty is a blessing to me and I look forward to thanking her in person one day for giving me the tools to find the keys to the kingdom. What a Walk!

4 out of 5 stars Give this book a real chance.......2006-08-09

While I don't claim to be any sort of biblical scholar, I will say I've never seen the idea of binding and loosing presented the way this book has. That said, I would say to the point that some of the other reviewers have made, regardless of weather or not the scripture has been used or even interpreted in the right text there is a great deal of value and growth that can be taken from this book - none of which I find to be unscriptural.

5 out of 5 stars Shattering Your Strongholds.......2006-06-30

I believe this is a must-read for every Christian! It is an insightful look into what keeps us from becoming all that God designed us to be and offers us powerful tools with which to overcome.

Well written simple logic reveals the how not-complex knowing our Lord really is. I feel this book was written by the Holy Spirit for those who believe. For those who do not have that much faith yet...it was surely written with the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Whatever you personal convictions are this book will deeply touch anyone who reads it at thier very core.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Author.......2007-05-13

I have read many of Francis' books and have enjoyed them all. This one is the same. It reminds you of what is important in a relationship with God. Easy to read and follow.

5 out of 5 stars A new level..........2006-08-29

I just finished the book. I don't know what to say but I will try. I have been asking God to bring me a new level of Him and I just happened to find this book at my library and what I have asked for has come to pass. I know it is God and not the book but we recieve answers in many ways. The spiritual aspects of this book are mind boggling and amazing but now I have to put them into my heart through prayer and obedience. I am ready for this breakthrough and I am amazed by my Lord and Savior, the King of Kings, Jehovah God!

5 out of 5 stars MIDWEST BOOK REVIEW.......2003-05-28

I loved the author's introduction and I quote, "Has God provided for us a Christian equivalent to the ark He provided Noah?" Ah! Now that caught my attention, could it be so, I wanted to know and I wanted to know where this stronghold of protection was. I was interested!

Francis Frangipane takes you out of pretense into reality at the onset of this work; explaining our walk to Horeb, where we are allowed to be real with God and our feelings about what is happening to us. We breath a sigh of relief knowing we can release our frustrations and fears and we breath in a breath of hope as the author assures us that God has a place of safety from all we are experiencing.

The author takes you on a journey, using men of old from the Bible as examples to bring you out of the many negative emotions that are trying to cripple you and leads you to a knowledge of knowing how to run under the shelter of God's stronghold of protection during trials and tribulations that life brings upon us all.

I would do this book an injustice to try and review the countless helps Mr. Frangipane gives the reader to obtain this desired result, but believe me he
definitely gives you all the information you need to run into God's Stronghold.

If you are a Christian that is feeling overwhelmed by the world that we are living in; if you are seeking the promises of a God who loves you,and the protection His Word speaks of, then this book is for you.

We all need a safe harbor, and for those that are His, there is no safer place than the Stronghold of God. This book will show you the way. It is a journey you will want to take.

5 out of 5 stars Proving God's truths in the testing bed of tough times.......2002-08-20

Any review of this book that starts from the premise that Francis Frangipane glosses over how hard life can be has missed the point of the book. Francis' view is that when we get into an intimate relationship with God that everything else springs from there. So if you are in a hard place in life, however tough, the Word of God and - more than that - God himself are both still true. God does not choose sin, people do that - even if it means that we are sometimes on the receiving end of some very tough stuff from other people - and have committed serious sins ourselves. We are not robots, God gives us free choice. We can, as Francis points out in the book, always do as we see in Revelation Chapter 12, go into the presence of God. Even when we've failed. There is the place that we find healing and not just the reality of what needs healing, but the truth - because truth and reality are not the same. The reality is that God created each one of us to be able to have a relationship with Him and not as sinful people. But we can come to Him even when we have failed in major ways. We don't have to earn it or prove we've changed in any way. The Prodigal Son parable and the saving of the thief on the cross demonstrate that we need not live having to prove we're different before God will step in - if we invite Him and do so when we have reached the very end of ourselves and stop trying to measure up. When we submit to Him, he changes us bit by bit so that we are healed and permanently changed. And in the book, Francis does reveal he had a very tough time in his marriage when it seemed they could not find compatibility between themselves, but they looked to God who changed them. If that isn't a hard place to come through and find the truths in this book, it is hard to see just how hard it needs to get before Francis shows he has lived and learned these truths and proven God to be faithful even when life is really tough.

5 out of 5 stars using the keys to freedom.......2000-03-08

"Shattering Your Strongholds" is the first book I've read that explained the priciples of binding and loosing. In reading this book, I have been able to pray with more power and understanding. I am amazed at the time I wasted trying to pry doors open so I could clean out the closets of my damaged soul area. No more! At first, I wasn't sure I would like the book. I thought it might be one of those devil chasing "in your face" types. Then, I thought the first few pages were slow. But, a foundation always has to be laid if a structure is going to stand! So, I read on. I have learned, through tearing down strongholds with the Word of God, I can have the freedom Jesus promised me. When I read about the uncomplicated way to get rid of the chains in my mind, will and emotions, all I could think of was "I could have had a V-8." If only I had been open to the voice of the Holy Spirit years ago, I would have saved myself from lots of grief -- and brought others out with me.

Liberty Savard has quite an appropriate name for the message she brings. Liberty is what I have. Freedom is mine and I am continuing to break more chains, more bondages and shatter more strongholds.

4 out of 5 stars Book Summary.......2005-05-03

This book consists of nine independent, though complementary, chapters penned by nine authors on strategic spiritual mapping's theology, methodology, and case studies. These multiple authors speak with one voice, enriched by their varied perspectives. Much overlapping in substance exists across chapters. The book's tone is informal throughout, like a series of "prep talks".

George Otis, Jr. defines "spiritual mapping" as superimposing Christian "understanding of forces and events in the spiritual domain" to see beneath geographical patterns of evil and spiritual oppression. This assumes in the practitioner "a keen understanding of the spiritual domain" and "a skill born out of a right relationship with God and a love for his world". Spiritual mapping's conclusions, to be verified by the Bible and sociological-historical observation, can enhance the effectiveness of ministry. George Otis, Jr. further describes a "territorial stronghold" as an evil spiritual being ruling over an explicitly proscribed area (e.g. a home, a village, a city, a valley, or a nation), possibly with hierarchies of deities and spirits. Such a territorial spirit may exercise extraordinary power over the area's local people. A "territorial stronghold" wards off divine influence and may invade unprotected targets abroad. A territorial stronghold, allowed into an area by earlier generations' misplaced choices, may be consciously affirmed in the contemporary generation's religious festivals and ceremonials and pilgrimages.

Cindy Jacobs (of a prayer networking organization called Generals of Intercession) enumerates nine additional strongholds, where Satan exalts himself against human knowledge of God and against God's plans. A personal stronghold (such as personal sin, pride, selfishness or desire for power) needs be repented of. A hopeless mindset stronghold "causes the believer to accept as unchangeable something he or she knows is contrary to the will of God." A sectarian stronghold causes pride in doctrines, idolatry of denominations, and divisions among churches. Moreover, instead of a church's "us versus them" mentality, the church should lend itself as a helpful resource to its local population. A social stronghold exists when poverty or oppression (such as injustice, racism) causes "people to believe God does not care about their needs". An ideological stronghold influences entire cultures and societies. An occultic stronghold (such as witchcraft, Satanism, and New Age religions) is "an overt evil application of many ideological strongholds". Cindy Jacobs cited her experience in breaking occultic strongholds: once through corporate repentance among Christians in the Argentine city of Rosario of earlier generations' worship of the Queen of Heaven, and once through Christians' intercession against a "curse" on Cindy Jacobs' personal health. A "seat of Satan" is a "highly oppressed and demonically controlled" geographical location from which Satan wars against a larger region. A "stronghold of iniquity" stems from earlier generations' sins producing weaknesses or iniquities in later generations.

Kjell Sjoberg of Sweden emphasized that spiritual mapping helps to target intercession. Among his insights are the followings: A believer's unconfessed guilt invited demonic influence on that believer; a believer's confession must precede his/her spiritual warfare. God's promises in the Old Testament for particular nations can be used in prayer for those nations. God might sometimes urge believers to gather for prayer without the believers knowing why; later those occasions might turn out to coincide with high levels of occultic activities. Human opposition could signify correct targeting in the Christians' spiritual warfare.

Harold Caballeros, a pastor in Guatemala, had been reading Matthew 12:29 , Mark 3:27 and Luke 11:21,22 . A believer told him of her dreaming of three rough rustic hands holding transparent ropes joining three specific Guatemalan cities. Another believer, upon hearing this dream, named the three persons holding the ropes. Subsequent investigations revealed those three persons were conducting "evil works of the devil" in those three cities, through money, politics and drug dealing. After "on-site prayer", the first was jailed awaiting trial, the second lost his office, and the third's power was greatly diminished. There was then less violence and more fruitful evangelism. In another situation, Caballeros' research team identified an archaeological site of Mayan idolatry and witchcraft, plus a vacant house there where contemporary idolatry and witchcraft was occurring. Caballeros' prayer team reported that God described to them the person responsible, including his appearance. Caballeros' prayer team was also told on what page of the next day's newspaper that person's name will be identified. All these came true; and further research indicated that person named in the newspaper indeed owned the aforementioned house.

Victor Lorenzo, of Harvest Evangelism in Argentina, was initially reluctant to obey God's call to strategic spiritual warfare. This opened his baby son to sickness due to demonic attack. As Lorenzo repented, an angel assured him of subsequent protection of his son. Based on information from five local professors and prominent murals of the city of Resistencia, the spirits of death, fear, sexual perversion, witchcraft/sorcery, Freemasonry, and the Queen of Heaven were discerned. Lorenzo's team's targeted prayers resulted in evangelistic success and doubled church attendance across all social strata, effective social service ministries, and positive media exposure. However, bitterness among certain pastors was not entirely healed in Resistencia. In a subsequent project for the city of La Plata, Lorenzo's intercession team members independently felt led by God to spotlight freemasonry. Lorenzo later found that La Plata's city center was indeed laid out as a freemasonry temple, with public statutes and monuments bearing Masonic symbolism. At the time of writing, many local believers were following up with fervent targeted intercession, sometimes on location in the city's Masonic landmarks.

Mark McGregor (a Seattle computer programmer) applied to Seattle the 20-question spiritual-mapping approach in John Dawson's Taking Our Cities for God; and Bev Klopp (of Gateway Ministries) planned follow-up prayers and actions of strategic spiritual warfare for Seattle.

5 out of 5 stars Critical Insight into Fulfilling the Great Commission.......2001-03-22

Our battle is not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces in high places, to paraphrase the apostle Paul. Salvation comes from the heart action of faith, not the mental grasp of facts. This is a spiritual process, and there are spiritual enemies obstructing that process.

C. Peter Wagner's great book, Breaking Strongholds in Your City, offers critical insight into "breaking the backs" of the enemies of the great commission. Illustrating to us the process of "spiritual mapping," Wagner shows how we can lay siege to the demonic garrisons that have ravaged the attempts to take our cities for Christ.

Reading this book will allow you to glimpse at the "hidden war" in the heavenlies. You will see how the "ruling spirit" in an Argentinean city was taken down. You will learn about common hideouts of demonic entrenchment. These places were often established by secret societies that have designed and built many of our cities, thus shaping our spiritual history. You will gain insight in how to gather information to perform spiritual mapping--mapping the strategic spiritual strongholds. Finally you will learn through example how to overcome these strongholds through prayer walks, prophetic prayer actions (PPAs), and strategic intercessory spiritual warfare.

Attempting to advance the kingdom of God without attacking on the spiritual level is like feeling for the light switch in a dark room while being punched at. I wouldn't advise it.

5 out of 5 stars "Our struggle...is against the powers of this dark world.".......2000-10-25

In the seven volumes of the "Prayer Warrior" series, C. Peter Wagner introduces the reader to what is happening on the front lines of the international prayer movement. This volume deals with "spiritual mapping", which uses a combination of research and spiritual gifts to identify demonic forces and patterns of sinful behavior that keep a city or region in spiritual bondage. This knowledge can then be used by intercessors to target their prayers to weaken and overcome these hindrances to God's work. Wagner acknowledges that, while there are biblical passages that support this approach, the real proof is in the results. In particular, Wagner cites tremendous breakthroughs in evangelism and church planting in regions formerly resistant to the gospel that result from spiritual mapping followed by targeted intercessory prayer. A fascinating, compelling book that should be read by anyone interested in missions, evangelism, or intercessory prayer.

5 out of 5 stars A New Strategy For A New Day.......2000-04-06

Wagner has once again contributed useful information to the body of Christ. Let's continue to keep HIM in our prayers so that the Lord will continue to use HIM as He's used him to write this book.

4 out of 5 stars Strategical and helpful.......2000-03-30

I found this book to be very helpful in becomming more strategical in my prayers. Dr. Wagner has once again taken a chance to break away from the status quo and serve the body with practical information. He will always have his critics, yet it is unmistakable that he is being used to further the great commission in obvious ways. Jonathan Edwards once said something to the effect of genuine works of the Spirit being accompanied by friction. Praise God for fresh strategies that will help us to get the job done!

1 out of 5 stars Los Angeles, taken over for God?!.......2007-05-12

I happened to live in Los Angeles right after the time it was supposedly "taken over for God." By November of the year I lived there (1990), the L.A. Times reported that 800 people had been murdered in L.A. County. If that is an area that has been taken over for God, we are in big trouble. How do we distinguish God from satan if this is what cities look like after Dawson and disciples took them over for God? In the 'hood (South Central), I heard gun shots and hysterical screams several nights a week. I know that people died in some of those incidents. I would often look in the papers the next day and find that nothing was reported.

The core of Dawson is his subjectivism (his senses tell him where the demons are and what their names are) and Moral Government Theology. He is in the same boat as George Otis Jr who answered the question, "Why does spiritual wickedness linger where it does?" not by pointing to a sinful human nature, which, incidentally, he does not believe exists, but by looking to nameable territorial demonic spirits which the Christians are supposed to search out and bind.

A friend of mind who adopted this theology, to his own shame, answered my question, "Why are the demons still tearing up the place if they have been bound?" by saying, "Maybe they don't stay bound!"

People who adopt this theology cannot be reasoned with, even with good biblical reasoning. Ezekiel 28:2 says, "Son of man, say to the ruler of Tyre, 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: "'In the pride of your heart you say, "I am a god; I sit on the throne of a god in the heart of the seas." But you are a man and not a god, though you think you are as wise as a god." According to Dawson, the "ruler of Tyre" is a demonic spirit. The Scriptures are clear. The ruler of Tyre is a man!

5 out of 5 stars Practical Spiritual Warfare.......2003-03-05

John has given us a biblical and practical textbook on spiritual warfare. Every church as well as every neighborhood prayer group would benefit from this.

5 out of 5 stars Taking Our Cities for God.......2001-03-22

While curiosity about the occult and the supernatural pervades our society, the devil's best defense has been the successful delusion of mankind into thinking that the kingdom of darkness does not really exist. Consequently, there is a widespread ignorance about the evil power, even among Christians. Many churches that preach the existence of Satan and demons do not acknowledge that people need help and deliverance. John Dawson's experience and the word of God lead to another conclusion. John Dawson presents a spiritual and systematic way of understanding and dealing with the kingdom of darkness that tend to block the progress of the Kingdom of God in an urban area. He states these problems and offers a strategy for faith and intercessory prayer. In the fourth section, Mr. Dawson deals with the subject of crossing the Jordan to take the land. Christians were born to fight the spiritual warfare. Mr. Dawson challenges us to catch the demonic arsonist and bind the demon with God's power. He provides us with a theology of the unseen realm such as the Angels, the evil spirits and the territorial control. With Scripture and fascinating personal testimonies, he shows us the reality of territorial control and spiritual strongholds. Mr. Dawson gives us a five-step strategy for faith and intercessory prayer. This includes worship, waiting upon the Lord, confession, overcoming evil with good and travailing in prayer. This topic challenges our so-called "enlightened" western minds. It is not a scientific book but it is a biblically based theological reflection on the question of spiritual territorial control. Demonic influences affect many in varying degrees and the cities need the Gospel of Christ. John Dawson explains that Christians can take authority over the demonic realm and bring freedom to those that need it so desperately. Mr. Dawson speaks very effectively to a much-neglected aspect of the Gospel in the church today.

5 out of 5 stars A Real Page Turner!!.......2007-03-10

I highly recommend Stronghold (Book 1 of the Dragon Star series,) and cannot say enough good things about it. Melanie Rawn has risen to new heights with this beginning of her second trilogy, set in the Dragon Prince world. I thought nothing could surpass that trilogy and the intricately woven characters and "tales" being told, but I was wrong. She has pulled in all the mystery, romance, magic, and spellbinding "facts" of the original trilogy, and added new twists, turns, and complications to this truly inspiring saga. This book is a WONDERFUL read!

3 out of 5 stars Too convoluted.......2006-08-22

This book returns to the World of sunrunners explored in the Rawn's "The Dragon Prince" trilogy. If you haven't read those first three books, this book will not make sense to you. It makes no effort at recapping previous events, and should be considered Book 4.

Rawn is a political fantasy author, and my opinion of this book was that she had so many subplots and hidden motivations going on between the different ruling characters, she lost track of them. Naming conventions for characters (similar sounding) can also confuse.

The complexity is richly epic if you care about the characters, but oddly, my favorite characters of Rohan and Sioned weren't given a big role. I hate the way Rawn draws Pol, their son, and the new characters didn't resonate with me.

I'd recommend buying the first book "Dragon Prince" if you are new to Rawn; that one was brilliant. If you love Rawn already, buy it -- you'll likely love this too.

Personally, I've read dozens of fantasy books I've thought were better (anything by Jim Butcher, Terry Brooks, or Terry Goodkind). However to be fair to Rawn, buy the "Dragon Prince" before you check out those gentlemen. It really was a good novel.

5 out of 5 stars One of my most highly recommended, "Must Get" books. Incredible!!!.......2005-09-01

There are hardly enough words to describe the talent of this woman. She ingeniously drew her characters along, new and old ones, to wrap both serious together in an incredible style. She leaves you bouncing and hopping from foot to foot while you wait to get to the next one, but unwilling to finish her last book as you wish for the story to never end.

That is, that's how it was for me. *Smiles*

Indeed, there are some characters that seem to have no impact on the storyline. But those who see those characters that way have no insight into the amazing storyline of this book. Each person, and each scene, no matter how inconsequential it may seem, lend to the book's overall lessons and the lives of the characters. Melanie Rawn, also, is an author that has no problem (seemingly) killing of her main character; in this way as well she is an incredible author, for doing such unexpected things, expecially after getting attatched to them, wrenches the reader's heart in sorrow.

And that is the whole point to reading a book--getting drawn in so strongly that you feel as if you are the character at the moment, and you feel as they do, and those feelings change as the book goes on.

Overall, her storyline, character growth, and the in depth information she creates for this knew world is amazing and one of the best. If you are in the mood for an emotionally wrenching storybook that lasts longer than most, or just in for a good read--I highly reccomend this book!

2 out of 5 stars conventional and unsurprising........2005-06-13

Why, oh why did she have to stretch out this series! I would have been happy with much less! (And all this Dragonlance and Dragon Prince stuff, what's up with that? I mean, was she purposely trying to confuse good people just reading her books? It COULD have been much simpler, but NO she had to make a big deal and split the whole thing up. What a stupid thing to do.)
I never got past the first chapter of Stronghold and you know what? I have no intention of going back to the library and trying to read it again. If it didn't catch my attention right from the start, there ain't much chance it ever will.
Her characters are overbearing and bossy (And the ones that aren't are usually spineless, A.K.A Meiglan, or whatever her name is.)
I read the first three books and they weren't bad (Maybe four stars.) but the rest just sucks. Melanie Rawn hasn't done anything adventurous with these books, so don't expect any ground breaking ideas or plots.
So, read it if you want to, but just get it from the library. It's free and you can't say later "Ugh, I paid money for THIS?"

5 out of 5 stars Absolutly stunning!!.......2005-05-16

Stronghold is the first novel in the Dragon Star series. Some say that it should have been the fourth book in the Dragon Prince series, but I beg to differ. The Dragon Prince series was about Rohan becoming first Prince of Stronghold and Shortly after High Prince also called "athrei" the old language for Dragon Prince. In this first epic novel in the Dragon Star series the reader is given Pol's point of view more often. Pol finds himself thinking about what he could do with the power of being High Prince. IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THIS BOOK STOP HERE IF YOU DON'T WANT TO FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENS.....In the end when Rohan is discovered dead only a few know. When Pol is told in the following novel, Dragon Token, He tries to find himself as who he is as a husband, father, and most important High Prince and protector of his people. So technically, Stronghold belongs in the Dragon Star series because Pol is still finding himself. Pol in the old language means star. When Riyan calls Pol athrei, Pol states that that is not him. Dragon Prince was about Rohan. Rohan is now gone, hence Dragon Star or the Dragon's star. Rohan's star or son. Pol.
This book is devastating but enthralling, and belongs in the Dragon Star series. Melanie Rawn is an artist that knows how to capture her readers imagination and keep them wanting more. Read both the Dragon Prince and Dragon Star series.

3 out of 5 stars Collector's item or useful RPG book?.......2007-01-20

In this day of Star Wars roleplaying you occasionally find a book that isn't so much desired for its content, but its collectability. This is a fair book, though the rave (and price) is often inflated because there are fewer in print than some of the other, more popular, Star Wars roleplaying supplements. I own the book, but only because I was able to pick it up for well under its current market value. It has some very interesting bases as well as adventure ideas, background characters, and other such information. If you need a quick base for your characters to break into or out of, this book allows you to do a quick rip from its content and have an easier adventure. Though, most experienced gamemasters can produce this information on their own. The book does have rules for weapons engineering, starfighter engineering, base engineering, and the like. However, in the grand scheme of things, they constitute one half a page collectively. Most of your characters aren't going to own a base of operations. They're more likely to raid others'.

4 out of 5 stars A good book on fighting out of the clutches of sexual sins.......2005-01-09

This book was one of the first books I read on freedom from sexual sins through Christ. It is very helpful especially for young men who struggle with sexual temptations and those who aspire to be free. Dr. Armstrong should follow this with a more comprehensive book.

5 out of 5 stars Biblical help for those struggling with infantilism!.......2003-07-18

"If you saw only their behavior, you would never let your son or daughter marry one of them or let your children be around them. Ironically, they are your sons and daughters, other family members, friends, and coworkers." (Page 5, Acknowledgements)

Although this book is about "Freedom from Sexual Strongholds" in general, my review of this book will center primarily around a subject called Infantilism, to include ABDL (adult baby / diaper lover). This subject has, to my knowledge, received no coverage from any major Christian media. Hard to believe, since the only real prerequisite (for the most part) is to have worn a diaper as a baby. Infantilism is when an individual (almost always male) wishes to wear diapers (adult diapers, of course, i.e. Depend) again or to be treated as a baby. The problem may be psychological in origin, but after puberty, it becomes a sexual problem as well. Some want to wear a diaper every now and then, while others want to wear diapers 24/7. Some only want to wear diapers, while others want to eat baby food, drink from a bottle, etc. If you've never heard of this, then you probably think that nobody in their right minds could ever enjoy something like this. But make no mistake about it, they love it! They enjoy it just like an alcoholic enjoys another glass; just like a cocaine addict loves another "high"; just like you enjoy your secret sins.

And this isn't just the behavior and thoughts of some perverts in the bad part of town hanging out at the adult bookstores and porno-theaters. These are also born again Christian people (mostly young men) who serve in churches, sing in the choirs, and pay their tithe.

But most importantly, if you told them there was a way out of all this, they would jump at the opportunity in a heartbeat. "The Way of Escape" points to the way out and helps to guide the Christian (in this case, the Christian struggling with infantilism) to the exit door. In "The Way of Escape", Neil Anderson does a good job of pinpointing the thought patterns of a person trapped in sin. He sins (and enjoys it), feels bad about it, repents and gets right with the Lord (and purges his life of anything related to the sin), does well for a matters of weeks or even months, and goes right back to it again.

Mr. Anderson instead gives his readers a formula to help them better fight against these destructive cycles. For one thing he reminds us that we are DEAD TO SIN AND ALIVE IN CHRIST. An ABDL might say, "I am dead to infantilism and alive in Christ." Galatians 2:20 says that we have been crucified with Christ. Romans 6:7 says that we have died to sin. These are all past tense. Mr. Anderson asks the reader to put his feelings on hold for just one moment (since you may not feel dead to infantilism at this very moment) while considering what the Bible is commanding us to believe. For instance, some mornings you wake up and "feel dead". But you're obviously alive. In that instance, do you follow your feelings or your beliefs?

Mr. Anderson also asks the infantilist to practice something called he calls "Threshold Thinking". He says, "If we are going to take the way of escape from sexual bondage that God has provided for us, we must avail ourselves of God's provision and change how we respond at the threshold of every sexual temptation. We must take those first thoughts captive and make them obedient to Christ. If we allow ourselves to ruminate on tempting thoughts, we will eventually act on them." (Page 156)

At the end of the book, there is something Neil Anderson has put together called "the 7 Steps to Freedom". I won't go over them all, but just a few of them include,

- Renouncing (out loud) all non-Christian spiritual experiences. Fetishism is inlcuded in the "Non-Christian Spiritual Experience Inventory".

- Forgiving everyone who has ever hurt you, no matter how bad their deeds were. "By not forgiving them, you are still being hurt by them." (Pages 210-211)

- Getting a fellow believer to hold you up in prayer and keep you accountable. This means if you're in infantilism, you need to find another brother-in-Christ, make sure he has a good reputation and a consistent Christian walk, and confess this problem to him. The ideal person would be a minister, deacon, or Bible study leader.

"People who have been caught in the trap of sin-confess-sin-confess may need to follow the instructions of James 5:16: 'Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.' Seek out a righteous person who will hold you up in prayer and to whom you can be accountable." (Page 217)

These are just a few of the gems featured in this book. The book reads like the author knows exactly where you're at in your life, and just how desperate you are to break free.

5 out of 5 stars Things My Dad Never Taught Me.......2000-04-06

Dad never taught me that the way man-woman relationships areportrayed on TV is unrealistic. No dad could know how to respond toall the temptations and thoughts that a young man faces, but this book tells more than the average dad knows. It exposes the sexual myths that are rampant in our country. It explains how our thought processes concerning unhealthy sexual activity can be reshaped with the help of the Word of God. There is a wonderful example of reprograming your thoughts: A cup of dark brown coffee represents your mind darkened by lustful, sinful, even criminal thoughts. But you can't empty your mind, so what can you do? The answer: Spoon in an ice cube, and then another, and another, and so on until the coffee has been diluted so much that it now looks almost clear. The ice cubes represent the good, pure, wholesome, kind, healthy thoughts which you can think daily and every time you are challenged by unhealthy thoughts. This book gives hope for freedom from sexual problems all the way from looking at pornography to rape, incest and even homosexuality. The steps to freedom in Christ are fully explained so that anyone can follow them. I recommend this book highly in my counseling practice.

Very easy to understand. The book broke down generation curses& strongholds in a way that even a babe in Christ could understand.

4 out of 5 stars GREAT BOOK EXCEPT THE COVER........2006-12-31

This is a very comprehensive book with much that needs to be taught to the
body of Yahushua/Jesus. However, personally I cannot give it 5 stars because
of the cover. This author believes, rightly so, that we should not have pagan
images in our homes, for example little Buddha figures, icons of saints and
so on. It seems wise to me to also eliminate from our homes ugly satanic images
as seen on the cover of this book. I personally am not sorry I bought it at all,
but I did cut off and shred the top flap immediately upon opening the package.
Also, some other very good materials on this subject are from Derek Prince
and, my personal favorite, Graham Powell who wrote Christian Set Yourself
Free. There are no demonic images on their books or, in Prince's case, tapes either.

A VERY GOOD BOOK WRITTEN SO THAT IT IS EASY TO UNDERSTAND. A BOOK THAT EVERY CHRISTIAN SHOULD HAVE IN THEIR LIBRARY.IT REALLY HELPED ME!

Vito Rallo is a gifted speaker and his book reads just like he speaks which makes the book engaging, understandable, and usable. He covers topics often avoided by other authors and speaks on them with the authority of someone who has a lot of experience and the Lord's anointing.

I can tell you firsthand that this book and Vito's ministry - Free Indeed Ministries - are completely life changing. I've seen it not only in my own life, but in my husband's and friends' as well. I strongly recommend this book for anyone who struggles with areas they can't quite get freedom from or anyone who has a lot of trials and troubles in their past or - well, basically anyone!

It's an easy read with a strong biblical foundation. I must for any Christian's library.

5 out of 5 stars Timely in-depth study on deliverance. So relevant for today........2003-07-10

This remarkable book can hardly be more timely and appropriate for a generation such as ours.

The book analyses how many people, including Christians, appear to be living under immense, often undescribable pressure with no apparent victory or way out of a deep oppression that appears to be hounding their lives at virtually every opportunity.

From a Scriptural perspective the author performs an in depth investigation into the very roots of these problems.

Many of these problems which often manifest themselves in acute depression, mental illness, spiritual heaviness, hatred, anger, fear, jealousy, low self-esteem, gluttony, rejection, intimidation, dread, cruelty, bitterness and even sexual perversions are found to be frequently related to what are described as ýgenerational curses'. Curses which can be passed down from generation to generation, frequently without the injured person even being aware of their presence, yet only too aware of the crippling effects upon their personal lives.

Many such curses are shown to originate from an ancestor being involved in witchcraft or indeed any occultic practice (all of which are itemised in the book). Other curses are shown to originate from relatives being involved in child abuse, homosexuality, incest, rape, prostitution and other similar practices. The book shows that even some forms of illness such as cancer, arthritis, diabetes etc., often have similar roots. The list presented in this book of the sources behind these curses and their effects is quite comprehensive.

To those sceptics reading this I can only say please read this book in it's entirety to understand the full and correct context of what the author is trying to say before dismissing everything out of hand. This book should not be dismissed without taking the subject very seriously. The real root personal cause of all these afflictions is shown to be the devil himself. To be ignorant of his devices is only inviting trouble. This book reveals his devices, methods and agenda for what they really are, showing that the devil only comes to steal and destroy. To steal our peace and destroy our lives.

Whilst approaching these subjects in some depth, the writer also takes great pains to reveal how ALL of these curses, illnesses, addictions and oppressions can successfully be dealt with, using sound Scriptural principles to show the way out.

Having myself been delivered from the occult many years ago, and also having the shocking revelation that one of my own ancestors was involved in the occult in an even deeper manner, I found this book to be of immense practical assistance. I also found every word to be true and that indeed there is Victory in Jesus Christ, just as the book declares. Highly recommended.
