Book Description
The New York Times bestselling series about the scandalous lives of rich and famous teens in Beverly Hills, California.High school is officially over and that means one thing for the A-List: time to party! But the celebration is cut short when unlikely pair Anna and Cammie find themselves in an even more unlikely situation--caught trespassing on a celeb's beach estate--and are forced to don steel handcuffs along with their Tiffany tennis bracelets.Luckily, the girls are spared a summer stuck in tacky orange jumpsuits when their hotshot lawyer lands them a cushy community service gig: helping plan a fabulous charity fashion show! But while it may seem like a plush job, Anna and Cammie are in for a challenge. Can the girls handle the pressure of the vicious fashion world? Or will they fall to pieces faster than a cheap Louis Vuitton knockoff?

In the last book in the A-LIST series (American Beauty: An A-List Novel (A-List #7)), the gang had finally graduated while discovering some juicy secrets. Cammie had discovered more information on what really happened to her mother. Sam was finally reunited with Eduardo, and Anna met Caine, who was nothing like her boyfriend, Ben. And Ben's dirty little secret wasn't a secret any longer.
The A-Listers are back again in HEART OF GLASS, and this time with a little twist.
Anna and Cammie have to work together - that's right, together - on a charity fashion show. But they got off easy, since this little community service project was the result of getting caught trespassing on a celebrity's estate. No worries, these two can work together, right?
Anna and Caine are getting a little closer, while Ben doesn't seem to worry so much. While Adam and Cammie are trying to make things work, we're hoping that opposites really do attract. Sam is still trying to adjust to living with Poppy, and maybe trying to get rid of her at the same time, while making sure nothing goes wrong with her and Eduardo. And Dee, well, she's Dee, trying to get back on her feet.
The gang is back and it's going to be one sizzling summer.
Eighth in the series, HEART OF GLASS is still filled with secrets, lies, and plenty of drama. The best thing about this series is that the material is never old and it still keeps you guessing and on the edge of your seat. The cast is still great and you just love Anna more and more after each book. Lets just say that HEART OF GLASS is more appealing than another episode of a certain teen drama on a new network - at least I'm experiencing something I haven't seen before!

I am crazy over this series ... i think that this book had to be the most mouth dropping one ... i almost feel like zoey can't write these books fast enough ... i feel like i can identify w/ every character on one level or another ... zoey dean delivers everytime you read one of her books
Pretty Good..........2007-05-17
I've been following the A-List novels since they came out a few years ago. There were tons of these book series floating around--the rich, cliquey girls who seemed to be mean and exclusionary--there were the Gossip Girls, the Clique... you get my drift.
Of all the books of that sort, A-List was the one that caught my eye. I followed it religiously for a while, but I got to one particular book in the series and almost gave up on it. The name-dropping and overall snobbery frustrated me to the point that I almost didn't give a flying ice cream cone about Anna and Ben or Dee's increasing psychosis.
Dean has redeemed herself with this last one, though. The characters are proving to be much more dimensional than first thought, and although they still tend to get themselves into outrageous situations, they are handling them with class and the kind of assertiveness I wish I'd had as a teenager. I really enjoyed this last book and I am looking forward to the "next juicy A-List novel."

This counterpart to the award-winning Every Young Man’s Battle can help you:
· learn how the sexual battle begins in your heart and mind
· understand your hunger for attention from guys

It can also guide you through the temptations and pressures of young adulthood while demonstrating how you can live your life to the fullest–without regrets.

Does not provide complex and nuanced strategies, which are essential for intensely complex dilemmas.......2007-07-31
Do not buy this book. If you are curious and want to evaluate it for yourself, borrow it from your local library (ask for it via inter-library loan if your library does not hold a copy).
Girls who have not acknowledged their own healthy sexual desires, who have not thought about their sexual desires in context with their other desires (to date, to connect with other people, to not have sex until marriage, to find and marry a person with similar values, etc.), and who have not pre-conceptualized how they might manage predictable situations will find themselves ill prepared to handle those situations.
"Every Young Woman's Battle: Guarding Your Mind, Heart, and Body in a Sex-Saturated World" does not help prepare or guide the girl who is alone with her boyfriend and finds herself intensely aroused while kissing him. Libido only looses its clarity, not its intensity, when jumbled with the social and cultural complexities of sexuality.
Ethridge and Arterburn do not provide complex and nuanced tools and strategies, which are essential for deeply complex challenges. Hopefully they can do so in their next addition, or perhaps another author will.
In the mean time I think girls and women would be better off reading "Every Young Man's Battle: Strategies for Victory in the Real World of Sexual Temptation" along with "Dilemmas of Desire: Teenage Girls Talk about Sexuality" by Deborah L. Tolman. (Ethridge and Arterburn should read Tolman's book as well.)
Dilemmas of Desire: Teenage Girls Talk about Sexuality
A "Must-Read" for teenage girls.......2007-07-16
If there had been a book like this for me when I was a teenager in the 70's, I could have saved myself many mistakes. The book answers questions every parent wants to answer but may not know how to or have the nerve to, in a way that is straightforward and scripturally based. I suggest parents and daughters read this one together. We read it together in our high school youth group while the boys read it's companion book, "Every Young Man's Battle". It helps everyone understand why they should remain sexually pure until marriage.
fantastic!.......2007-05-17
This book was real. It touched on the soultion for dealing with constant thoughts of the opposite sex as well as forgiving yourself for your past. Everyone is a new creature when they ask for forgiveness and this book did a great job of reminding us of that. I recommend this book to ALL young preteens, teen age, and young women. Anyone who is interested in EVER dating.

Book Description
For teens who make God an integral part of their lives, teens who are sorting through doubts about whether God really cares about them, and teens who don't know God at all, Chicken Soup for the Christian Teenage Soul may be one of the most influential books they'll ever read. These stories about love, friendship, forgiveness, making a difference, courage, dating (and lots more) show how God is at work in teenagers' lives. Teens share stories about how God has given them the courage to cope with the tough stuff, the joy to live a fulfilling life, the strength to persevere when they feel alone, and the love and confidence they need to feel good about themselves. This very special volume will also help them to use other teens' experiences to build a stronger relationship with God. For teens tempted to use drugs, alcohol or other substances, Chicken Soup for the Christian Teenage Soul can be a lifeline to God. They will know that God cares what they think when it feels as if no one else does, and that He loves them no matter what.

Chicken Soup For the Teen Age Soul.......2007-01-20
I bought it for our Granddaughter's 13th Birthday.
Grandpa was so intrigued with it I had to pry it from him to wrap it!
Inspiring and helpful for teens to grandparents!
Great with Devotions.......2006-08-17
I read a story a night from this book after we read devotions at the dinner table. We all love the stories. Some of the stories our sad and make you think. Some are funny like the Lesson in Lavendar story which is one of our favorites on Compassion and Forgiveness. This story just happened to fit right with our Devotion readings from Sticky Situations 2 another great book. The book is geared for teens but we all can relate to the stories and enjoy them.
Chicken Soup!.......2006-05-21
I absolutely love all chicken soup books and this one was equally amazing. I thought that Chicken Soup for the Christian Teenage Soup was very well written. The stories were very realistic and I think that anyone could relate to them. It covered everyday issues like school, family, friends, and just faith in general. In short this book is very heartwarming and can be read by most everyone.
"Chicken Soup" Books Make Great Gifts.......2006-02-24
I have to start by saying that I love the "Chicken Soup" books.
There are soooo many out there for so many different types of people. I bought this book as a gift for a family member. I couldn't help but read some of the stories before wrapping it. I may not be a teenager anymore, but reading the stories helped me remember to when I was. I think this book is not only great for teenagers, but perhaps the parents of teenagers as well.
Another great helping of Chicken Soup.......2006-01-30
I have yet to read a bad Chicken Soup book, and this one is no exception. The nice mix of stories make for an entertaining and interesting read, and there are life lessons to be gained from reading every single story.
This book is not just for teens. Anyone who loves Chicken Soup type stories will enjoy this book. It tugs at the heart strings and is a book you'll want to re-read again and again.

Great Book.......2006-11-24
I really enjoy this book because it really influences every part of a girl's life. You see, if you are ready for a book that challenges you in godly character in every part of your life, this is for you! I prefer books that cover a lot of ground!--and this is one of them. It is definitely an "All in One" book. I also appreciate how George wrote in many of the scriptures so you don't have to search around for a bible--makes it much more versatile--and you can feel like you can pick it up and start reading at any time. Very good. Blessings!

"Cool Mom's" review.......2005-12-09
I am reading through Woman After God's Own Heart, which I so wanted to share with my son's girlfriend, very new and unsure of her faith, with absolutely no spiritual support from her parents. But "Woman" is very mature and deals with women more my age. I saw "Young Woman" here when I ordered another copy of "Woman" for a close friend. I'm excited about the book... I know some of these teens reviews are mixed, and one actually very harsh. I will say this to the young ladies out there... it IS possible to live purely and holy before God as a teen. I did it with peer pressure and all... I saved myself for marriage and have had a wonderful life. It was not and still is not always easy - even adults have peer pressure. My husband and I talk to our kids about EVERYTHING and don't "flowerize" anything. It is hard out there - but God requires integrity from us. Remember, Elizabeth George was a teen at one time and she raised teen daughters... the way she speaks is out of a heart of love for you and for the Kingdom of God. Philippians 4:8 says Whatever things are pure, true, just, lovely and of good report with VIRTUE and PRAISE - think on THOSE things. When I read the book with my daughter I'll come back to give my final opinion. Blessings!
Too rosy for me.......2005-12-07
The purpose of the book and the message is nice, but George's advice of how teenage girls should behave gave me the impression she expects them to be sweet, spotless little angels. Sorry, but we all know that's not possible, no matter how much some parents wish it is. George seems to have forgotten this fact, even though she herself had tough teen years and an obnoxious stage (hey, we all did!). I've been a Christian all my life and was never an out of control teenager, but when my own dear mother gave me this book, I could tell after just a few pages that it was not going to work for me. In fact, George's tone was so conservative, I nearly swore off Christian guidebooks forever. Don't get me wrong; it's not a bad book altogether and the messages about God's love were very uplifting. Unfortunetly, a lot of her advice on how to be a "proper" Christian girl was unrealistic.
The most startling part of the book was when she shared the dating rules her husband placed for their own daughters: No dating whatsoever until after high school. Once out of high school, they STILL couldn't date unless the boy asked the father first (this included long distance calls if necessary, even if the "date" consisted of nothing more than going out to get a coke!) This long-distance thing seems to imply that the girls weren't living at home anymore, and yet he still ran their social lives? Call me a hoodlum, but that's controlling, not protecting; we're talking about girls who were legally adults here. I half expected George to say that her husband also picked out his daughters' spouses for them. She almost gave the impression that her husband didn't trust their daughter's judgement.
Please don't get the wrong impression; I believe strongly that teens should be taught about Christ, I just don't think George did the best job of it in this case. She's not a bad writer, but she doesn't appear to realize that most people wouldn't appreciate reading a whole book written with a gently patronizing tone that seems more fit for small children than young adults. Try to keep in mind that being Christian alone doesn't qualify someone as a good adviser and just because some of you moms like George doesn't mean your daughters will. No matter how sweet George may be, she doesn't appear to understand modern teenagers enough and teens should not be advised by someone who doesn't understand them. For a more realistic view of teen life, I recommend "Teen Ink", any of the wonderful "Chicken Soup" books, "Queen Bees and Wannabes" (if you're a parent trying to help your daughter with teen issues), or the awesome "Chocolate for the Teen's Dreams". Blessings on your journey with Christ!

Fireball Katie keeps everyone guessing what she’ll do next, and surfer Todd keeps showing up while popular Rick has determined to get her full attention! As these memorable years unfold, Christy and her God-loving friends find out what it means to be a âpeculiar treasure.â Follow Christy Miller as she stays true to her identity in Christ, drawing closer to God for help in realizing her dreams and dealing with her disappointments.
Whether you’re meeting her for the first time or have known her for yearsâ
Christy Is a Forever Friend
Surprise Endings
Cheerleading tryouts are coming up, and Christy Miller is giving it all she’s got. The competition is tough and some of the girls are just rude, but Christy thinks she has a good chance to make the squad. Meanwhile prom is just around the corner, and Christy hopes her parents will make an exception to their âno dating until sixteenâ rule. She’d love to go with Todd to his prom! But nothing turns out as Christy had planned. As the surprises keep coming, can Christy respond with grace...and maybe even spring a surprise of her own?
Island Dreamer
Christy Miller is spending her sixteenth birthday on Maui with her family, Todd, and Paula, her best friend from Wisconsin! What could be better? But Christy soon finds that she and Paula don’t have as much in common anymore. Paula’s obsessed with having a boyfriend...even if it means stealing Todd from Christy! Will he choose Paula over her? Or will the islands send Christy dreaming in new directions?
A Heart Full of Hope
Christy Miller is sixteen, and that means she can finally date! Rick has waited months for this, and he has a whole list of dates planned. He’s not happy about her early curfews and weekend job, but Christy knows her parents aren’t about to negotiate on those points. Really, she’s dazzled to be pursued by such a thoughtful guy. So why does she feel overwhelmed? Where does Todd fit into her life now? And can any guy really fulfill all her hopes?
Story Behind the Book
âThe Christy Miller series was actually born when a group of thirteen-year-olds challenged me to write a novel. I’d been questioning the content of their favorite books when they said, âWhy don’t you write a book for us?’ I told them no, I only wrote picture books. But they persisted: âHow hard could it be? We’ll even tell you what to write! We want a love story with teenagers at the beach.’ And there you go. Summer Promise first released seventeen years ago and is now translated into five languages. I continue to hear from readers all over the world, many girls saying that they gave their life to Christ after reading Summer Promise. I love that!â

Customer Reviews:
Don't you want a Todd?.......2007-03-28
I love when Todd kissed Christy! It's so sweet! You want them together so so so much! I've read this one twice, and I love the Island Dreamer. Her relationship with the Lord grows. Sometimes I just want to scream at Paula from trying to steal Todd, though.
Christy is a delightful character.......2007-01-03
Although I am an adult, I've enjoyed all the Christy Miller stories. Christy is the sort of person I would have loved to have had for a friend durin high school, and I think many girls can relate to her. The pacing of the stories is sometimes a little slow, and the supporting characters, especially Christy's parents, should have been much better developed. Still, the stories are so enjoyable they are well worth reading.
Hey Juliet, Rick isn't your Romeo.......2006-12-30
Christy Miller is amazing. I adore every book in the series and even in the Sierra Jensen series. "Awesome" young women on fire for God are inspirational. In Volume 2, Christy is different though. Issues occur and the world isn't completely sugarcoated. It is a nice change from the picture perfect world of Newport and Todd. Life isn't always easy, but Christy's struggles reflect that God is always. The moral of this collection is God is there, patience pays, and guys like Rick aren't worthy of "peculiar treasures". Don't hate the Rick's of the world. Pray for them because love and God are the only two things that can change a heart.

Book Description
She was the catalyst that helped to turn a rag-tag rebellion into the Rebel Alliance. She provided the impetus for the "Heroes of Yavin" in their attack on the Death Star. And she was the spark that ignited the flames of passion in one of the galaxy's most notorious rogues. "She," of course, is Princess Leia, the leader - and heart - of the Rebellion against Palpatine's galactic Empire. The four stories in this volume follow Leia from the weeks just before the events in A New Hope, to the time just before The Empire Strikes Back - from her first transforming experience with armed rebellion, to facing the ramifications of consequences of the destruction of her home planet, to the beginnings of true love.

Many sides of a complex character.......2005-05-29
Collecting issues #5-6, 20-22, and the Valentines special of the Stars Wars: Empire series, this graphic novel focuses on one of the most complex and interesting characters in the Star Wars universe: Princess Leia.
"Princess... Warrior" shows Leia in the days just before Star Wars: A New Hope. Still a Senator, moving through the galaxy in her Blockade Runner, she's trying to bring aid to the fledgling Rebellion. Unfortunately for them and her, she's drawn too much attention. When faced with her first tastes of battle, Leia finds her values, character, and strength tested severely. This story also features Captain Antilles as a major character, a treat for die-hard fans.
" A Little Piece of Home" takes place shortly after Star Wars: A New Hope. Leia's former boyfriend and his brother managed to escape the destruction of Alderaan because they were vacationing on a moon they owned. That moon would make an ideal Rebel base. But as she rekindles her feelings for Raal they find themselves in impossible circumstances, struggling for their lives. But that struggle is just as hard as Leia wining the respect of Raal's older brother, Heeth. Heeth and Raal are some of Leia's last connections to her home planet, will she loose them, too?
" Alone Together" is 3 months after the Star Wars: A New Hope, and the fleet is adrift. Han, Chewie, Leia, and Deena Shan, a newcomer to the Rebellion. Deena is nursing a huge crush on Han Solo, but that's placed by the wayside when the four must answer a distress call on a distant planet. Easily my favorite story of the four, it's a funny, quick, entertaining lead.
" A Valentines Story" takes place just before Empire Strikes Back. Leia, Han and Chewbacca are piloting two spacecraft to the new base at Hoth. Han and Leia are in one craft, Chewbacca in another. Caught in a storm as they try to land, they all crash, but after Han and Leia attempt to rescue Chewbacca they struggle together to survive. They also bond together in their own way. A touching and sweet tale in many ways.
This graphic novel shows many aspects of Leia, and shows her growing up, as well as filling in some of the gaps between movies. Highly recommended for Star Wars fans or anyone interested in reading about a strong female lead character.

Book Description
In this deeply personal book, Ed Young explores twenty-six Chinese characters, each describing a feeling or emotion, and each containing the symbol for the heart. Through stunning collage art that interprets the visual elements within each character, Young uncovers layers of meanings for words such as joy and sorrow, respect and rudeness. He invites readers to probe the full range of their own emotions and he gives a context for discussing ethics and the similarities between old and new, East and West. It's a book for those who love the beauty of language and the beauty of the heart.

voices of the heart.......2000-12-09
The best gift anyone could receive--young or old. It describes and illustrates with Chinese characters the intellect & thought processes behind emotions. Wonderful concrete examples of those feelings you cannot always understand or explain to yourself, a friend or a child. Simply a work of art and an exquisite study for all generations. Voices of the Heart by Ed Young.......2000-10-21
What a lovely, useful book. When the old Chinese were inventing their writing, they noticed how activities & places evoked feelings & they began to draw the words like pictures as a remembrance. Feelings emerge from somewhere in the middle of our physical selves, & "sorrow" does feel like "opposites," a face off in ourselves. "When the heart is ruled by feelings that oppose each other" is insightful. If we are more able to define feelings like sorrow that converge on us in a moment, maybe we can begin to balanced life too. I can only say this book is most helpful to me. It is absolutely wonderful & more than anything else, useful in meaningful ways for all ages of people.

What a lovely, useful book. Our fast paced times don't offer us the leisure to consider the meaning of our emotions and how they inform every moment of our lives. Emotions are like a roller coaster ride we are locked into and we feel powerless. Feelings emerge from somewhere in the middle of our physical selves, & "sorrow" does feel like "opposites," a face off in ourselves. Incredibly Beautiful.......2000-03-15
Although meant to be a children's book, this visually stunning work can be appreciated by people of all ages. Ed Young weaves calligraphy, collage, and the written word together in a most incredible way, through the theme of 'the heart'.
I discovered this book about a year ago at a history teachers' conference. This year I purchased my own copy and was told at the time that someone had just purchased it for a wedding (shower) gift. What a great idea!

Customer Reviews:
Very Helpful!.......2007-07-05
This workbook has proven very useful for teenagers going through the grieving process. My clients have been able to process a great deal with the help of this item. I would highly recommend it.
A Wonderful Resource.......2006-11-01
I am a teacher of teenagers and have given this book to at least five students who have suffered a loss. They ALL have reported that it was tremendously helpful and, when they shared it with their families, a bonding experience.
Creative approach to dealing with grief.......2003-03-06
I work in an Alternative HS and have found that my students who most would think the book looks "corney" have requested copies of the book after looking through it. I like the fact that it addresses issues of anger that the adolescent may have (or may not even realize they have) towards the deceased. I work with high-risk youth and the family dynamics are always so complex. I also like the fact that it addresses changes that the adolescent will have to make and doesn't "sugar coat" things. But, it pays respect to the deceased in a tasteful way, and it is way for the adolescent to write memories/stories he/she might forget.
My only complaint is that the book is pink. My guys who have been the ones who really have gotten a lot of use from this book (especially dealing with the death of a parent) are turned off at first from even looking at it.
A great book.......2001-11-04
This is a wonderful Journal for kids. On my first read through I felt it was geared a little more toward 9 to 13 year olds, rather than older teens. However, the content is excellent and the ideas and exercises will really help grieving teens work through the difficult grief process.
An excellent choice for ANYONE suffering a loss........1998-11-26
I ordered this journal for my two teen-aged daughters, both of whom were suffering greatly with the loss of my mother, their grandmother. The book is a wonderful aid in helping them express all the things they were afraid to vocalize. It allows them to write down their thoughts and feelings on such subjects as what they were doing when they found out the person had died, unresolved issues with the person who died and how they would like them to be resolved now, where they believe their loved one is now, and how the future will be without the person they love. It allows the teen to see that they are not alone in their grief, that others have the same thoughts as they do. I highly reccommend this book to ANYONE who is experiencing loss in their life. It leads you gently through the entire grieving process-I can't say enough about how it helped us through a very difficult time in our lives.

Prompted by paintings, sculpture, prints, and photographs by American artists working in the 20th century, these poems lend a new meaning to art appreciation and make each page of Heart to Heart an exciting discovery.
Join such poets as Jane Yolen, Nancy Willard, X. J. Kennedy, Naomi Shihab Nye, David Mura, and Angela Johnson as they reveal a personal, heartfelt response to works by Thomas Hart Benton, Romare Bearden, Jacob Lawrence, Grandma Moses, Faith Ringgold, Man Ray, Georgia O'Keeffe, and many others. Whether the poems are playful, challenging, tender, mocking, humorous, sad, or sensual, each work of art, seen through the eyes of a poet, allows readers to look at the world with new insight.
Customer Reviews:
Amazing!.......2006-04-22
An amazing work of art! The poets are well matched with the art they chose and the poems are good enough to give you chills. A must for any serious collector of contemporary poetry.
Getting to the Heart of Art.......2003-03-28
This is a great book for artists and non artists alike. It is a useful tool for any age group in understanding visual imagery. The poetry is done in response to art that ranges in style and media, giving the reader/viewer a wide exposure to the arts.
The poerty is crisp, interesting and meaningful to contemporary culture without being trite or overly stylized.
This book is a great educational resource, coffee table book, or good cure for the common boredom!
