Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.
Book Description
Out of school, out of work, and out of motivation, Abby Rose is contemplating her life and wondering what to do next. It's the kind of situation that would get some girls down, but luckily Abby's got a heart the size of Texas-and a bank account to match. But when she discovers the gardener dead in her greenhouse, Abby realizes what she needs to do with herself: she needs to solve a murder...
Customer Reviews:
Great detective.......2006-08-24
First in the Yellow Rose series, this series is in Texas, featuring Abby Rose. Abby's gardener is murdered, and she wants to find out why: why he was killed and why he was there. Abby's fraternal twin Kate helps her run the computer business that their father left them, and she also gets roped into helping Abby find the answers to her questions. In this, Abby finds out answers to other questions, ones she wished she hadn't asked. I found this to be better than your average cozy - I was leery of the basis of the spoiled rich girl playing detective - but Abby redeems herself.
Witty, Charming Début!.......2006-07-29
Introducing Abby Rose...a privileged woman living in River Oaks, Texas...a wealthy town near Houston. In the first book in the Yellow Rose Mystery series, we find that Abby has inherited her late father's home and computer business along with her twin sister, Kate. The business runs fine without them, and they are able to pursue other interests while having a steady income. Having no real ambition in her life, and feeling left out now that Kate is finishing her dissertation and moving in with her boyfriend, Abby longs for something meaningful to fill her time. When their hard-working gardener is found dead after he promises to share a large family secret with the twins, Abby begins to investigate both his death and her past. Questions about their adoption begin to loom again in Abby and Kate's mind, and she wonders if they have the whole truth about their birthparents. When the trail to a killer leads her directly to a shady adoption agency, Abby begins to ask some tough questions. Will she discover the killer and the key to her past in time to stop a murderer on the loose?
This was a great start to a new series! The fact that Abby and her twin sister, Kate, sometimes work together in the book (but are not "joined at the hip"), made a likeable, interesting combination. The mystery itself offered a lot of twists and turns, and I was kept guessing throughout the book as to the twin's past, and to the identity of the killer. The only thing that I disliked in the book was the overuse of clichés. I know previous reviewers have mentioned this as well, and I completely agree with their feelings on the subject. However, the book was too good to pass up even with this minor flaw, and I will eagerly pick up future installments in this fun, witty series.
The next book in the series is called "A Wedding to Die For". Enjoy!
Enjoyable Read.......2005-12-16
I enjoyed the book. However, I agree with the Reviewer that said the main character used too many bad cliches. It did seem forced and got to be a little "too much". I thought the ending could have had a more interesting twist but I knew that wasn't going to happen because it is a series so all the main characters had to stay in tact.
Delightful.......2005-08-15
My second book by Leann Sweeney and I laughed all the way through at the antics of Abby Rose, an amateur sleuth who manages to get in and out of trouble in delightful ways. I'll be buying a third book by Ms. Sweeny as they are easy reads and keep you entertained.
Fabulous first mystery! Abby's a winner........2005-02-15
Abby Rose is trying to decide what to do with her life. Since she has a large bank account, she doesn't have to rush to decide. Her twin Kate is soon moving out to be with her boyfriend, and Abby doesn't know what she will do with the large house their father left them - it's too big for just her.
After she discovers her gardner, Ben, dead in the greenhouse, she realizes how little she knew about him. She begins to look into his life so that she can express her condolences. That just opens up more questions, like who killed Ben's wife years before? And why was he working for Abby's father?
Abby contracts with her ex-husband, who swears he is clean and getting his life together, to help her renovate the house in Galveston. It hasn't been lived in for years. She finds herself having to interact with him more than she likes.
The sexy detective from the Houston P.D. who is investigating Ben's death, adds some spice to Abby's dull life. Especially when he tells her that Ben was poisoned. Now Abby is determined to unravel the mystery surrounding Ben and who killed him. She finds more questions to have to find answers to.
In her investigation, she finds herself in many sticky situations. Can she discover the truth before someone puts an end to her?
This is the first Yellow Rose Mystery. LeAnn Sweeney has a real winner. I had trouble putting this book down. Abby and Kate are terrific. The Texas setting is fabulous. I've always wanted to go to Galveston, and I feel like I've at least had a short visit there. I just started reading A Wedding to Die For, the second in this series. It looks to be just as great as the first.
I highly recommend this book!
Book Description
Butch Anderson, a born-in-the-saddle cowboy world famous for his days on the rodeo circuit, owns a pristine ranch with his wife on the outskirts of the magnificent Big Horn Mountains in northern Wyoming. MethZap, a coal bed methane gas company, promised the Andersons that the gas retrieved from their ranch would entitle them to receive large royalty checks and that the ranch would be returned to its immaculate condition once the mining was complete. Unfortunately, MethZap didn't keep its word to the Andersons, and when sludge oozes from the Well from Hell, contaminating their groundwater, destroying their rangeland, and poisoning the Powder River Basin, they hire Mary MacIntosh to represent them in a class-action toxic tort crusade that threatens to divide their community. How much do we owe the people we love? Are we all stewards of the environment? Is a multi-million dollar jury verdict enough to replace what has been lost in the battle? In trying to win justice for her clients, Mac learns the answers to some of these questions and the value of respect for the environment, loved ones, and, most importantly, for herself.

Shocking & Compelling - A Page Turner You Can't Put Down!.......2007-03-27
This novel sucks you in from page one and does not let you go!
I began reading this after Pandemic Predator & expected good things, but did NOT expect to be so enraptured & engrossed by it. From chapter one, you are introduced to a variety of hot button issues, and you know that they are going to explode later in the book - but Maureen keeps you on the hook until the last crucial minute before divulging any crucial detail. When you finally understand the complex nature of these issues, you realize that Maureen has weaved multiple topics together and completely pulls the rug out from beneath you in an amazing crescendo.
Books with catches and hooks like these that keep you on your toes and breathless while reading - waiting for more - but not sure of what is coming next - and dying to survive each crisis with the main character - are very hard to come by. I was so sad when this novel was over, because I WANTED MORE!
The most surprising element in this book for me is the fact that this book is not a boring rescitation of environmental issues. This is a suspense novel like you wouldn't believe, that just so happens to occur in an environmental setting. You have your legal drama, your side-issues of love interests, betrayal, cheating, lying, dishonesty, money, family, death threats - all woven together in a book that happens to involved environmental litigation. Maureen does not overwhelm with legal definitions or political expression about environmental issues, and manages to explain certain topics in a way that focuses on the suspenseful setting of the characters. I was amazed that I would be so enraptured by a book that involves seemingly dry material - not one page - not one sentence! - of this book was dry or slow.
My only regret is that I finished reading this book in a matter of hours and now I have no more to read! I'm dying to get the next books she publishes because I want more about Mary MacIntosh!
Fast paced, John Grisham style novel.......2006-10-03
Great Superb! This is a book you can not put down. While reading, you become engrossed in the characters and their surroundings because of the awesome detail. It leaves readers searching for the next novel written by Maureen Meehan Aplin.
SIZZLING READ!!.......2006-08-10
This newest read is a page turner and extremely provocative in its theme....all this guarantees that the reader will not be disappointed. Once again, author/lawyer Aplin shows the kind of imagination and savvy that is sure to delight readers
Book Description
When prominent Jackson Hole attorneys Mary MacIntosh and Andrew Harrison realize that their legal secretary is missing, they embark on a frantic white water search down the torrents of the Snake River. Mac and Harry find themselves in a secret Popo Agie cave snagging clues that Lela left behind, while trying to outrun a drug dealer who isn't afraid to shoot to kill. What Mac and Harry discover on their perilous journey is an unimaginable web of conspiracy and betrayal shocking enough to rip apart long-time family ties in what was once a close-knit community.
"This newest read is a page turner and extremely provocative in its theme....all this guarantees that the reader will not be disappointed. Once again, author/lawyer Aplin shows the kind of imagination and savvy that is sure to delight readers." - Attorney Steve Womack, reviewing Powder River Poison, a Mary MacIntosh novel, Amazon.com
"This book is one of the few gems that you look for when you want a good read. Once you pick this book up, you simply can't put it down. I have read many thriller & horror novels, but this one is unique in so many ways! The author adds so many elements that our society is used to gobbling down - the depravity of orphanages & the atrocities in some international ones, the soul-lessness of abused children & what they sometimes grow up into, the concerns of terrorism by toxic means . . ." - Attorney Margaret Lopez Erpenbeck, reviewing Pandemic Predator, a Mary MacIntosh novel, Amazon.com

Snake River Secret: a Mary MacIntosh novel.......2007-05-14
Edge of my seat, page turner, could not put it down! Maureen did a wonderful job connecting this story with the others she has written. Her excellent choice of words allow the reader to sense the surroundings the adventurous Mary MacIntosh is in. Jackson Hole is a majestic spot in the Tetons and this is all captured in her novel.
I finished the book last evening before going to bed and when I awoke this morning I was searching the newspaper for information regarding this most recent Jackson Hole incident....it is that believable.

Fifty issues--collected into 15 volumes that total 2,000 pages--the Hernandez brothers' Love and Rockets is an enormous achievement that helped to create a new audience for comics. Notable for their strong female characters and their focus on relationships, rather than on traditional comic-book 'action', the stories collected in this volume, and the rest of the series, show how the comic format can be used to create characters and situations as detailed and compelling as in any novel.
Reviewers have compared Gilbert Hernandez's work--set in the fictional Latin American town of Palomar--with that of Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Robert Altman. Reading his brother Jaime's work--most of which focuses on a group of Southern California Mexican American women--is like reading Tolstoy, if only Tolstoy had written about twenty-something punk girls. Love and Rockets has certainly earned its legendary reputation among the comic-book cognoscenti, and deserves to be read by an even wider audience. Welcome to the world of Los Bros Hernandez.
Customer Reviews:
please..........2003-05-30
I am really tired of the Gilbert vs. Jaimie debate. When i was younger I prefereed Jaimie because I was a punk and his art looked cooler. But that was it. Jaimie is certainly one of the most incredible artists ever to work in comics, and his stories have been wonderful as well. However, I can't believe people would say Gilbert is a poor artist! He has a distinctly different style that is distinctly different. It is expressive and emotive and powerful and is used with great skill in Poison River. Drawing on folk art and underground artists from Robert Crumb to Jim Woodring, his work is fresh and exciting. Gilbert has spent way too much time in his brothers shadow, and deserves credit for the quality of his art. His skill at storytelling has been critically acclaimed enough that I needen't belabour the point, Poison River is an epic and fascinating tale of sex, politics, violence, family and love.
Neither Love Nor Rockets.......2002-06-20
As a huge fan of Jaime Hernandez's work, I never really 'got' that of his brother Gilbert, and generally ignored his sections in the comics. The artwork seemed sloppy and unattractive, the stories seemed a touch sophomoric - relentlessly and earnestly beating us over the head with obvious truths in P.C.-themed narratives. Perhaps all that could be forgiven if there was some warmth or humor at the core of Gilbert's world, but there seems instead to be an atmosphere of nastiness. He loves to use (and show) brutality to make a point, and the characters don't have any empathy with each other. In summary, avoid and concentrate instead on the awesome stuff from Jaime.
overrated; occasional flashes in the art.......2001-04-24
Gilbert Hernandez, who certainly is not without some talent, became ever more lazy with his artwork as Love and Rockets progressed, perhaps realizing that it was impossible to compete with the visual brilliance of his brother. He seemingly tried to compensate by becoming more "writerly" with his little fictions, and ended up creating in Poison River and some other later works just the sort of stilted, derivative hash one would expect of a half-educated adolescent with an interest in puck rock and comic books. It is sad to see his talent go mostly to waste; he could have been a decent middleweight cover designer or children's book illustrator if he hadn't imagined that he could write.

True story of an American businessman arrested in Thailand, falsely accused of operating an international sex tour ring, and imprisoned for two years at the request of the US government.
Customer Reviews:
What the F*&%#@K! Is this really happening to me?.......2007-06-05
As I read this book I am NOT surprised at how the US GOV officials are unresponsive to US citizens and their needs. I have been to many of the sites in Thailand ... Bankok too ... NOT surprised at the corruption and the unresponsiveness of Thai GOV officials!
I am amazed that this Guy survivied ... where is he now! How did this aweful experience impact the next 10 years of his life? What of his Mother? Family? Did he start another business? How/what did he create of his life?
WHO WOULD YOU "BE" AFTER SUCH AN ORDEAL????
Steve Raymond.......2001-07-08
I met Steve in January 2001 at the Renoir where he was working as Director of Sales. He gave me his book to read and first I thought - oh well - will see. Then I started reading it and was very sad to find out what can happen to your life if you are open, helpful and friendly as Steve is. It amazes me to read that Steve never gave up hope and even tried to educate/help other people while his situation was hopeless. And the endless love he shares for Asian countries is amazing. I loved the book even though it made me cry a lot.
Biased and mediocre.......1999-07-27
The author's activities were indeed questionable. His version of events are trite and biased. There is no smoke without fire.
Disturbing and documented journal about American injustice.......1998-04-28
Once I started reading this book, I couldn't put it down. I read it straight through in eight hours and have read it several times since. It is the gripping (and documented) true story of an American business executive falsely accused of child abuse by a former college classmate. The accuser is John Cummings, a convicted child molester who was deported from Thailand when charges were filed against him in the US in 1988. He was sentenced to 68 years in jail, but an overzealous child abuse investigator got 40 years chopped off the sentence in exchange for Cummings spinning a tale of international "child sex tours." Although all of the people he accused were found not guilty or carges were dismissed in both US and Thai courts, in the meantime Cummings and his supporters (like US Senator Jesse Helms and economic doomsday author Howard Ruff) destroyed a world famous street children's shelter, along with the lives of dozens of innocent adults and children. This case began the media frenzy surrounding "sex tourism," and is often cited by the media as "Proof" even though no one was guilty. Steve Raymond spent two years in jail while the U.S. Justice Department -- realizing they had wrongly accused him -- used international pressure to keep him locked in a Thai jail and away from the media. He was finally freed after intervention by Amnesty International. Every time you turn the page, you believe that someone *HAS* to come into his cell and say, "I'm sorry, Mr. Raymond, we made a terrible mistake." That apology never came. READ THIS BOOK! If you think your American government will protect you, you'll learn differently. (Fully documented, BTW).
Fascinating book.......1997-09-17
I found this book a revelation about one man's unjust imprisonment in Thailand. Worth reading.
