5 out of 5 stars what fun!.......2007-07-17

growing up in the same time frame as shannon tweed, i can completely go where she's been and laud her surviving and thriving today as a result! an interesting glimpse into what makes her relationship with a bad boy of rock'n'roll tick.whatever demons have driven either one of this couple, there is an air of openness and honesty that must be healthy and refreshing not only for their fans, but a great environment in which her family seems remarkably well-adjusted for ANYone in THIS day and time. thanks for sharing!

2 out of 5 stars Very Disappointed!.......2007-06-27

I love biographies of all kinds and I loved Gene's book 'Kiss and Make Up'. I also love Shannon on her reality show "Gene Simmon's Family Jewels". One thing I did not love, was this book. It was horrible. I know there are so many more things she is not sharing, and that is her prerogative. This was just plain boring and seemed to be too edited by Gene. I never give books away, but I just recently gave this one to a senior citizens home (I am sure someone will be plucked when they see the nude shots inside.) If you like to read about Playmate's lives, or any stars lives, read The Bunny Tales or even Sharon Osbourne's book. Don't waste your money on this- it was horrible!

interesting and a great read.if your a gene simmons fan or family jewels fan you will love this book.

2 out of 5 stars Boring.......2007-05-15

Thank goodness I got a used copy to take to the beach. The beginning is about growing up in Canada, boring. I stomached a few pages of this then skipped to the early Hollywood days. If you title a book "Kiss and Tell", then by all means do it! I get the feeling Ms. Tweed is ashamed of her past and does not want to upset her children.

I couldn't wait to get my package of amazon.com to get this book! I'm such a huge fan of the series and then you just have to have this book on your book shelf... It's full of funny interviews, beautiful pictures and a little something about every episode. This book is so fabulous, I bought it for my girlfriend's birthdays and they all loved it as well...

5 out of 5 stars Great book!.......2007-07-23

There is so much information and pictures! A great book if you are a fan. Details upon details...

5 out of 5 stars SATC...as tasty as a cosmopolitan.......2007-05-23

This little bedside campanion of a book for the sinfully delicious TV show Sex and the City is perfect for any fan that is just beginning their voyage into the sexually inclined New York of the fab four. I found this book to be rather interesting and I loved that it laid out the entire show for the viewer. It gives a quick synopsis for each episode and lots of tid-bits along the way, ranging from a list who each girl did (and didn't do) and good information on all the main guys that were on the show. For anyone who has given up chocolate as an addiction and turned to Sex and the City to fulfill any emotional holes, this is the book for them.

3 out of 5 stars Where was it updated???.......2007-05-07

If you already have the first editon then save your money. There is very little to call updates in this book. I can't understand why the last few episodes were only breezed over. To me these should have been the best of the book, but they were all but not there. The first edition is the one to get. Much better pictures for the money and just about all the same information.

1 out of 5 stars Don't Bother Nothing New and lots of innaccuracies.......2007-04-15

As someone who loves ANYTHING SITC could not wait to get, wow what a disappointment. This book was abviously written without alot of insight on the show...perhaps someone that saw every other episode while vacuming or washing dishes! Don't waste your time any fan of this great show will see all right through this author's interpertation of the characters....Save your money for the movie.

Book Description

What's it like to be best friends with a Rock and Roll legend?

Bob McAdams and Gordon G.G. Gebert have been asked that question more times than they care to remember, each having the dubious distinction of being members of the KISS inner circle.

People never seem to get enough of all their outrageous stories and finally after re-telling these tales about Ace Frehley and KISS for the umpteen thousandth time - Bob and Gordon decided to tell their stories one last time in "KISS and Tell!"

This book exposes the hidden reality of some of Rock and Roll's most excessive characters:

* Gene Simmons * Paul Stanley * Ace Frehley * Peter Criss *

Boh McAdams became Paul "Punky" Frehley's closest childhood friend around 1963 and remained friends to adulthood where each served as Best Man at each other's weddings.

Gordon G.G. Gebert became Bob's successor as "best friend and cohort" with Ace in 1985 until Gordon and Ace's controversial falling out in 1993.

Together, they have put to pen the most fascinating expose' in recent memory, full of candid details surrounding the lives of rock and roll's most secretive band, whose superstar status was perhaps the least interesting aspect of their twisted persona. Yes, it's about the power, fame, money, sex and madness associated with rock and roll and the lives of those who came in contact with these living legends (and everything you'd expect from the world's greatest rock band on the planet.) But better still, there is a comic insanity in these episodes that go beyond cartoon characters or the fictional members of Spinal Tap than actual human beings. "KISS and Tell" is the epitome of the classic cliche "Truth is stranger than fiction!"

Here is a "behind the scenes" view of KISS with inside stories they wouldn't want you to know.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars ace in all his glory!.......2007-08-26

this is a great read, with many funny and heart-warming stories from the authors about their time with mr. frehley. the funniest/best story of all, though, is the one about how ace never flushes the commode when he has a bowel movement!! that story alone is worth buying the book for.

4 out of 5 stars Interesting, Questionable and Sad.......2007-04-12

Being a long time fan of Kiss and especially Ace Frehley I was curious to read it. If all this is true and not embellished, Ace seems to have no respect for friends, family, bandmates or fans. It is hard to believe that someone could live like this and survive. Truth or not it was a good read with lots of laughs. I still enjoy Ace Frehley as a musician and I am sure there are a lot of good qualities about him that did not make the book.

5 out of 5 stars One of the best books on Ace Frehley and KISS.......2005-04-09

Kiss & Tell is absolutely one of the funniest books I've ever read. A guilty pleasure.
Read Kiss & Tell along with Into The Void... With Ace Frehley and you'll get the "big picture". You'll feel like you're there.

2 out of 5 stars Friends or Foe?.......2004-08-24

The one thought i had about reading this book is are
these indeed friends of Ace Frehley or enemies?
As friends they sure make Ace out to be a total deadbeat
person and pig of a man. I am sure Ace had some good
points and positive sides to him. These so-called friends
of his only wrote about the down-side of Ace Frehley.
I would of enjoyed to hear the good and the bad, not
all the disgusting aspects of his life.
Therefore i think the authors of this book only concentrated
on the bitter bad side of Ace to make their story more
interesting to market instead of showing an honest view
of Ace Frehley. I am sure that with the bad comes some good
in the man we know as the SpaceMan. I have faith in that.

2 out of 5 stars I't's not only Ace.......2004-07-02

People are sometimes outraged that this book makes a lot of not proven bad claims against Ace. Well, maybe they are true (what you turn Ace into s despisable, VERY despisable person), maybe they are not.

But, the point is: I think it has become incresingly clear along the years that KISS was only interested in money EVER. Never cared about the fans in a real sense. Their merit was making good rock albums that had enormous influence over a lot of musicians. But the guys in Kiss... Urgh, they all su..k.

Newcomer Cherry Adair takes no prisoners with her sexy romp of a novel, Kiss and Tell. Deftly combining suspense, romance, and humor to can't-put-this-book-down effect, Adair introduces readers to Marnie Wright, a computer analyst in the midst of a career crisis, and Jake Dolan, a top secret military agent running for his life. Jake's heavy-handed attempts to intimidate Marnie into leaving the mountaintop retreat where she's contemplating her next career move don't faze Marnie, whose four overprotective older brothers have left her testosterone-averse--unless of course the commands are issuing from the most sensual pair of lips she's ever clapped her blue eyes on. It's lust at first sight for the mountain man who has no time for blondes, no matter how nubile, and for feisty Marnie, who aggravates Jake even as she saves his bacon when the bad guys come after him. Her saucy and sexy style irresistible, Adair is a bright new star in the romance genre!--Alison Trinkle

Book Description

She was looking for adventure.

Marnie Wright has seen more than her fair share of testosterone.  Growing up with four overly protective brothers was one thing.  Now a mountain man named Jake Dolan has invaded a peaceful day of soul-searching at her grandmother's secluded cabin.  Sure, she was trespassing on his private property, but did he have to pull a gun on her?  There's more to this longhaired soldier of fortune who calls himself the Tin Man, but she's not sure she wants to stick around to find out what.  Then he stashes her in his secret lair--an underground techno-fantasy complete with security monitors and an arsenal--and Marnie realizes the guy is military, top secret military.  He's also got the most beautiful mouth she's ever seen.

He could get her killed.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars super read.......2007-07-24

this is my 3rd Cherry Adair book in the Wright family series & i have to say it's definitely hooked me onto this author. Very good read length was perfect & from first page to last it had me hooked on Jake & Marnie's relationship. I love that Adair could show the gruffly tender side of Jake & still leave him being a strong alpha male. I've come across many authors where the male character's emotional side wasn't shown in anything but a wusy aspect. Jake retained all of his alpha male characteristics, but at the same time was so receptive emotionally (although he of course fought till the end his feelings for her) to Marnie. Marnie was a def favourite of my heroines as she's all mischievious, strong, understanding, retaining all humor & never ever whinge. She's his perfect opposite seeing the world with an optimistic attitude - which is a reflection of the way she was raised as opposed to Jake's sad deprived childhood. I'm definitely going onto to reading all 4 books of this series as well as starting her Edge series.

Overall very exciting, humorous & emotional read. I'd do this rollercoaster any time with Cherry Adair.

4 out of 5 stars The first and best in the Wright Series.......2007-02-19

While relaxing at her deceased grandmother's cabin and contemplating the direction of her life, computer analyst Marnie Wright happens upon neighbor Jake Dolan, who wants her off the mountain. But she is not budging, especially since she has spent her entire life have orders barked by one of her four over-protective brothers.

When a storm renders her cabin uninhabitable, Jake reluctantly brings Marnie and her dog back to his place, which is actually a sophisticated state of the art lair. Is he a good guy or bad guy on the run? Marnie is not sure, but more than her instincts are feeling his lusty pull. Jake is an agent who was framed as a traitor. He is out to clear his name, but not at the expense of the sexy lady who does not have the sense to get off the mountain.

Adair's first in the Wright Family series is one of her more sensual and plot driven novels. Utilizing realistic dialogue and tense action sequences further enhances the storyline. My only complaint is the forced appearance of the brothers toward the end, which appears to only lay groundwork for their own stories. But overall, one of the better stories in the series. Each stands on its own, but its best to read them in order for the true Wright experience.

4 out of 5 stars Hot, hot, hot.......2006-12-16

He's a terrorist-bane, off on the mountain, trying to figure out where his career has gone wrong

She's a wannabe artist, overwhelmed by her caring family, off on the mountain to pay homage to her recently-deceased grandma and figure out where she's going next

He does not like her. He does not want anything to do with her. He's also just the kind of guy she knows she should avoid - just like her brothers.

So, of course, they fall in love and live happily ever after.

There's a fantastic group of bad guys trying to kill him. There's a most wonderful doggie who knows a good guy when she sees him. And there's hot s e x a-plenty.

Very fun romp, overall.

I would not recommend this book...OK...Maybe you will call me picky but I am looking for the original...the gutsy portrat of human feelings and souls...true conflicts and passions when I pick a book....well written and intense captivating stories...the same old, same old doesn't do it for me anymore...so If I don't find that "it" factor that screams these characters have skin and blood and their guts are clearly portrayed through pages filed with a narative that flows ...I just won't say I liked what I read...There is a lot to the romance style and it will never be what it can be if we always settle for the same old cliche....SO far, the only writter that has fully accomplished that... in my opinion... is Diana Gabaldon...that my friends is a good writter...but I'll kep on searching...keep on siping from all authors and books that fall on my lap...I want to find more amazing romance writters and novels....I a sure I will....but Kiss and Tell was not one of those...sorry

2 out of 5 stars Cliches and bad characterization sink this novel........2006-10-07

I had written a long review on this novel, but appearantly it vanished. When I started this, I thought it had an interesting if a bit familiar premise, but as I read I found a seriously flawed romantic thriller with some BIG PLOT HOLES. Basically, you have a spunky heroine with a heart problem who trys to get away from her pathologically overprotective family after the death of her beloved Grandmother. She runs into the Lone Ranger..I mean Jake "Tin Man" Dolan. Jake Dolan has major trust issues and is written like a third-rate Jean Claud Van Damme role. These two are convineatly sexually attracted to each other almost immediately, but his issues prevent them from getting together. Then the Cannon Fodder baddies come, and they start to connect. Dolan tries to be noble, and sends her away, but of course she cannot stay away thus setting up a predictable climax, and afterwards, Dolan manages to lose my respect as he lets the heroine's brothers dictate their sister's life. Don't waste your money on this book.

Alain de Botton has crafted a delightfully ingenious novel in the form of a biography of an unknown woman. Told by a former flame that he lacks empathy, the engaging narrator of Kiss & Tell decides to write a book about the next person he meets. This turns out to be Isabel Rogers, a production assistant at a London stationery company. The sincere effort of this would-be Boswell to make this ordinary woman fascinating cause him to fall in love with her, causing a shift in his writing from an examination of Isabel's life to a minutely-detailed account of his relationship with her. Alain de Botton's earlier work, The Romantic Movement, garnered praise from John Updike and Pico Iyer, who called him "a Stendhal of the 90's dating scene."

Book Description

Dr. Samuel Johnson observed that everyone's life is a subject worthy of the biographer's art.Accused by a former girlfriend of being unable to empathize, the narrator of Kiss Tell takes Johnson's idea to heart and decides to write about the next person who walks into his life. He meets Isabel Rogers, a production assistant at a small stationery company in London, apparently an ordinary woman. But as the biographer's understanding of Isabel deepens, she becomes remarkable. Her smallest quirks, private habits, and opinions become worthy of the most painstaking investigation-and unexpectedly attractive to her biographer.

Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars Stating the obvious.......2006-11-10

The author proposes to reflect on the subject of biographies. There are some interesting thoughts in this novel, particularly when the author dwells on what a good biography should be like. He discusses the question of the biographer's empathy with the subject or what subjects should be worthy of a biography, the question of its length and whether its role is to make the reader understand other people. Perhaps when reading a biography there is a desire to find out how one differs from personalities like W.H. Auden, Napoleon or Verdi. But is it worthwhile for the biographer to be tormented by the question of how many grains of salt his subject put on his eggs, as Ximenes Doudan was about Julius Caesar? Is the Picasso of the blue period really the same man as the one who painted Guernica at the end of his life? How can the biographer understand the subject's experiences of which he himself has no experience?
Aside from such reflexions - even though treated quite superficially - the book contains lengthy observations of the banal habits of a young lady called Isabel Rogers who lives in London and whose biography will interest very few readers indeed.

3 out of 5 stars Kiss and Tell? No thrill here..........2003-04-09

Some of this book is brillant. De Botton thoughts on memory and how we view relationships can be amazing. He also can be funny. I was impressed with many of his ideas. On the other hand, by page 150 or so, I found the constant analysis of biographic form to be grating. I can see why Isabel felt as she did at time (although she is no great woman by any means). Again (as in On Love, a far superior book), we have a nameless narrator and no details on his life. Oh well. It is amusing at times, but not worth the time invested. Alas, I shall fall silent now.

4 out of 5 stars The dangers of dating a writer/philosopher.......2002-12-28

After finishing Alain de Botton's biography/novel KISS AND TELL, I found myself hoping on behalf of its putative subject Isabel Jane Rogers that this work is more fiction than fact. Or at least that "Isabel" is a composite of every young woman the author ever dated and not a real individual person. Although de Botton catalogs many of "Isabel's" quirky habits (her poor sense of geography, the way she picks her nose and chews on the callouses on her fingers, etc.), he exhibits enough of his own dubious traits (for instance, he admits letting her plants die unwatered while devouring half a box of her chocolates while house-sitting for her one time) to give us a sense that in some unprovable way, he is at least playing fair.

But under this delicious patina of pettiness, there are a number of more serious subjects. Such as the nature of biography itself. And whether our versions of ourselves are any more reliable than those of an outside observer. The nature of memory. And a comparison of the virtues and liabilities of the fat, detail-obsessed Boswelian biographies versus the "toast-sized", summary-style biographical sketches of an Aubrey. (Anyone who has read--or tried to write--an obituary for a family member will find the chapter "In Search of an Ending" fascinating.) And anyone who is familiar with de Botton's other works will not be surprised how he manages to draw the likes of Marcel Proust, Adam Smith, Frederick Nietzsche, Tolstoy, and Hippocrates into the conversation, as well as zany bits of pop psychology like graphology, palmistry, and magazine personality questionnaires. To support the trope that KISS AND TELL is a real biography, de Botton even provides a 12-page, fully functioning index (complete with entries on "toenails" and "sex.") As a work of fiction, KISS AND TELL isn't nearly as interesting as his earlier novel, ON LOVE, but it is an amusing book...and it will make you think about your own quirks and self-delusions.

5 out of 5 stars Amusing breath of air..........2002-05-12

Okay, I may have not read the *entire* book, but I did read a spectacular passage from "Kiss and Tell" during my AP Literature and Composition exam. It's not often I grin after reading AP test passages. However, that brief excertp from De Bottom's novel had me grinning and absolutely praising whatever AP God had seen fit to bless me w/ such a delightful passage to write about.

I was so intrigued by the passage, I actually decided to buy the book after I was done. (How often does that happen?)

1 out of 5 stars Disappointing!.......2001-06-26

After reading "On Love" by Alain De Botton, I was set to enjoy more of his amusing and interesting prose, yet instead I found myself struggling to finish, easily distracted, and wishing I had never bought the book. Lacking the wit and charm I found in "On Love", "Kiss and Tell" is stale and dry, like a piece of bread that has sat out on the kitchen counter all night. If you're an Alain De Botton fan, you can skip this one.

5 out of 5 stars finally got it.......2007-05-20

I have been wanting this book for a long time and finally got it...yes!! Fun book for fans like me.

4 out of 5 stars Big SIS Fan.......2007-03-09

I have enjoyed the book a great deal. The only thing that surprised me was that the book was published about mid-way through the series, so it doesn't have any detail about the later episodes. Fun to look at anyway.

5 out of 5 stars Seems to be a great gift.......2007-01-16

I don't know this show much, but my girlfriend is a huge fan so I got her a copy of this book. I wish more of my gifts would result in the kind of reaction this got from her. She keeps going back to it leafing through with great interest. If you're in search of a gift for a Sex and the City fan, I don't think you can go wrong with this one.

3 out of 5 stars If you love the show.......2006-03-09

You should pick this up. I bought this item for my wife who is a big fan and she loves it especially the part where they have a map of the city and list all the spots they have filmed.

4 out of 5 stars Must have for true Sex and the City fans.......2006-02-23

I bought this book as a gift for a friend who loves Sex and the City and I was very pleased with it myself. I have been watching the seasons, and although I have not seen the series in its entirety, I found this book to be really cool. It has behind the scenes looks and it explores the wardrobes of all the cast members. My friend who I bought it for really liked it and I would definitely recommend to anyone who loves Sex and the City.

5 out of 5 stars An early Brockmann gem.......2005-07-19

This was the book that "introduced" me to the wonderful Suzanne Brockmann, and so it will always have a special place in my heart. It is not romantic suspense, so don't expect to see any Navy SEALs or terrorist plots. Instead what you have is a very simple yet very intense love story.

Leila Hunt has gone home to Florida for a much-needed vacation. She hopes to spend her days soaking up the sun, hanging out with her best friend Frankie, enjoying her brother's fun parties, and avoiding the British and annoying Dr. Marshall Devlin at all costs.

While at one of her brother Simon's infamous parties, Leila is given the most passionate and arousing kiss by a mysterious ninja (are there any other kind?), who ends up leaving Cinderella aka Leila behind at the ball instead of the other way around. Only instead of a slipper, she's left with the memory of a heated kiss.

Considering all the hostility and angst they went through as teenagers, Marsh can't believe he kissed Leila, but now that he has, he wants to do it again. Excited to see her, he gets quite the jolt when he realizes that Leila has no idea he was the one who kissed the breath out of her. So instead of being upfront and confessing he was her man of mystery, he keeps it to himself, convinced that if they spend more time together Leila will realize that he is the one she's been searching for all along. Of course he also realizes that she will end up hating him even more when she finds out he was her ninja, but it's a risk he's willing to take.

True, it's a contrived plot, one that could have been solved quite easily, but what fun would that be? It works rather well to increase the incredible tension that has always existed between Marsh and Leila. I remember being blown away by the intensity Suz used with her characters even back then, and it showcases hints of her burgeoning talents as a writer. Keep in mind this story was released in '96, and look how far she's come since then. Without cutting her teeth on K & T, we would not have had Sam & Alyssa, or more recently, Max & Gina.

If you are a diehard SB fan, or if you've never read anything by Suz, I highly recommend this book. Even if you have read her books, I still recommend reading K & T. I loved it.

3 out of 5 stars too much telling and not enough kissing..........2000-11-12

I really like Suzanne Brockman, she has a consistent energy and a complexity to her characters. Kiss and Tell feels like an early book of hers, it's quite heavy handed, and I have to say I was disappointed.

There was little romantic tension, not much of her trademark humour or energy. Her hero is Dr Marshall Devlin, who kisses his best friend's sister, Leila Hunt, whilst dressed as a ninja. There are fireworks, but to his surprise, she doesn't realise it was him. So instead of telling her it was him, well there wouldn't be a book if he did that, we go through 100 or so pages before she figures it out. There are some funny lines and situations, but the book never came alive for me.

All serial romances are by definition contrived, but many wear their plots more gracefully than Kiss and Tell does. I would still buy a Brockman on name alone, but if you don't need this to complete your collection, I would let Kiss and Tell go.

3 out of 5 stars Life is but a dream.......2007-05-31

Life for Kiernan was not as picture perfect as she'd made it seem. Born as Norma, Alias as Kate Matthews and as interior designer, Kiernan Malloy. Kiernan trapped her husband Taylor Hudson into marrying her by telling him that she was pregnant. I invision Kiernan to be a little off upstairs if you know what I mean.

Brooke, pschyotherapist to Kiernan was badly beaten by her first husband and ended up falling in love with Taylor Hudson. Careers were soon in jeopardy when Brooke finds out that Kate Matthews,(Kiernan) is the wife of the man she had fallen in love with.

Joie, Brooke's bestfriend, ended up pregnant not knowing whose the baby daddy. It's between Brent and Evan, who are best buddies; but we later learn towards the end of the book that Brent was bent over while Evan was laying pipe to his rear end when Joie walked in on them. How did Joie react to the situation? You'll have to read the book to get all the juicy details. I rated the book 3 stars because it took so long to grab my attention. I nearly put it down twice.

4 out of 5 stars Started off slow, but the middle and ending was GOOD.......2007-03-26

One of my coworkers suggested I read this book because in her words..."This book is GOOD! You won't be able to put it down!" So I took a chance on a new author and I do have to agree with the majority and say it did have a slow start. I thought about returning the book to my coworker twice, but I hung in there and I must say, I was very pleased with the storyline and colorful characters.

The characters were believable and didn't seem made up at all. I was very impressed with this author's knowledge of the Wall Street and high society life. Very impressed! The ending had some good surprises that made the story altogether a good one!

4 out of 5 stars You have to stick it out.......2006-02-04

I did not want the book, but it was sent to me by a book club. When I first started to read the book I was confused. I did not understand who was who or what was what.
Then after the book began to make sense I relized that I could not stop. I shared it with some of my friends and they like it too. You just have to hang on before you can get in to it.

2 out of 5 stars Could have been sooo much better..........2005-10-14

The author had a good story that was poorly executed. The book started off very slow, picked up and got me interested and then feel off. There's lots of drama, and interesting subjects but the ending is too "and they all lived happily ever after" Not one of my favorites; only worth buying if it is on sale.

3 out of 5 stars I didn't like this book.......2005-07-25

This book name dropped too much for me and everything that happened with the Brooke and Taylor happened off scene. Even the first time they made love happened off scene. It would have been nice to spend more time with them when they were actually doing something instead of rehashing what they had already done. The only time the book seemed to come alive was when Kiernan was on the scene. At least I understood her motives and why she was the way she was. Brooke was a sad person in comparison because I never really felt like I knew her. As for the subplot with Brooke's best friend and her boyfriend it was totally unnecessary for this book. If the author had taken the same route with Brooke and Taylor (such as the reader actually seeing their relationship blossom) as she did with the secondary characters this would have been an outstanding book. Good luck to Tracie in the future. You have a lot of potential.

In working families, mothers are still responsible for 70 percent of the household chores. What gives? While it's no longer unusual to see a father toting his kid around in a Baby Bjorn, it's still cause for celebration to witness a guy holding a toilet brush. To prevent bitterness from such unequal workloads from boiling over, mom Karen Bouris proposes a remedy in the form of an "Equal Parenting Agreement," or EPA, a written checklist of assigned responsibilities designed to keep every family member happy. She leaves no detail out, with slots for scheduling the kids' doctor appointments, breadwinning, making sure the life-insurance policy is up to date, and, yes, cleaning the toilets. She and her husband arranged their own EPA that ultimately meant he would work fewer hours at his job, and she would work more. It's no simple process, with questions and exercises designed to determine your parenting priorities ("how will you help your children feel loved?"), and even your "Family Standard of Cleanliness." Some readers may be turned off by the touchy-feely terms, such as "intentional steps" and "Mother Martyr" or the sheer number of exercises, which are likely a byproduct of her time spent in couples' counseling. But there's no denying that the process of creating an EPA--using Bouris's recommended process of self- analysis and negotiation--is bound to at least open up the lines of communication, and at most make it a lot more pleasant to keep the house running. --Erica Jorgensen

Book Description

It's no secret that the bulk of the household management and childcare still falls to women, even if they work and make equal or more money than their partners. It's also no secret that women want this to change. Here is the book to help them design a more equal parenting arrangement with their partner, to give them a voice and a plan of action. By offering questions for discussion, exercises, and negotiation points (like planning the social calendar), couples can redefine roles and assign responsibility, increase communication, and give a welcome boost to their love life. With the humor, wisdom, and advice gained from over 75 interviews with women and men, Just Kiss Me and Tell Me You Did the Laundry will help women have a more balanced home life and a more intimate marriage.

5 out of 5 stars A Must Read for Stay At Home Dads!.......2007-06-05

Hands down, this is a must read for any stay-at-home parent. Especially Stay-at-Home Dads.

5 out of 5 stars Women owe a debt to author Karen Bouris.......2004-11-19

By defining the predicament of working mothers who because of tradition bear most of the work load of home and children and by explaining how it causes resentment and stress in motherhood, the author gives a detailed and honest look of what is happening in marriages today.

The book is priceless in that it supplies ideas and information that couples usually only get by spending a lot of money at a marriage counselor. The divorce rate will severely drop in the marriages of couples who use this valuable workbook as their guide.

With great courage, humor and wisdom, Bouris shares intimate details of how she and her husband managed to work out a plan that would allow, in their case, to switch traditional roles and share in parenting and household chores. And she describes how their new roles helped them gain insights, experiences and joy they would have otherwise missed out on.

She writes that needs for every couple are not the same and that they might even change as the years go by. But if couples will honestly communicate their desires to each other, they can put into action the kind of marriage they want. The author goes into great depth analyzing and describing the typical emotional reactions of couples in marital situations. She gives many examples of what life is like for the modern day working parent. This allows the reader to identify and realize their situations are not unique.

This book is not only about how Mothers who want or need to have a career should have the support and cooperation from the father in sharing the parental responsibilites and handling household chores. It also gives many helpful tips to couples on how to nuture their relationship, honor themselves, and cherish each other. It is a detailed and helpful guide how to negotiate with your mate and organize your life so that your marriage blossoms and grows.

5 out of 5 stars Unbelievably Insightful and Challenging.......2004-11-18

For all of us who are parents and share that journey with a partner this book is an amazing resource. It challenges you to improve your situation and truly create the kind of partnership you want with your spouse. The book is funny, effective and at times can seriously push your buttons. I found myself occasionally feeling stressed as I read it because it really made me assess what I like and don't like about my situation. It has REAL life exercises and suggestions to help you make improvements and changes rather than just discussing the difficulties (and of course joys) of parenting and living with your spouse. A great, enjoyable and (for me somewhat life changing) read!

5 out of 5 stars Great Help for Couples.......2004-04-19

There are so many books focusing on the "problems" of parenting and relationships--and this book is very much about solutions for couples, which I found refreshing and helpful. The underlying premise of the book is to be intentional in our parenting roles and make your kids a priority without sacrificing women's identities or trapping men in breadwinner roles. This author does this without being overly political or preachy and uses humor, interviews with lots of other women, and her own personal story in an effective way. But best are the plethora of tools--discussion questions, exercises, and lists of housework and childcare duties--so that you can pick and choose what you and your partner need to work on. It's a powerful idea and book, no matter what your parenting choices are.

4 out of 5 stars good writing despite bad logic and plot holes.......2004-09-26

I'm giving Blaze 113, Kiss & Tell: Just Between Us, the third in a series by the brilliantly sassy husband and wife writing team of "Tori Carrington" four stars. The Carringtons generally get five stars from me; they are just that strong of writers. Only, strong writing is not the problem with this book. It's the third and last in the series - and maybe thankfully - because it shows the series being stretched to make that third book and really "thin" on plot because of it. To the Carrington's writing credit that pushes the limit of hot, once again, the sassy prose grabs the readers and keeps them reading despite the really shaking premise.

In the first two books, Night Fever: Kiss & Tell, Harlequin Blaze, 105 and Flavor Of The Month: Kiss & Tell Harlequin Blaze, 109) we've met four very close friends, Leyla, Reilly, Mallory and Jack. Since all three women had wanted to jump sexy Jackson Daniel's bones, they make a pact none of them shall. Fine. But for that to be the crux of a conflict, they needed to make it the FIRST story in the series - not the last! In Night Fever, Leyla the doctor gets engaged and Reilly coffee shop/ice cream shop owner and Ben, owner of an up and coming restaurant do their story in Flavor of the Month. This leaves Mallory, the budding documentary producer, and Jack - we have little idea what he does other than writes a column for a paper - to do their turn. However, by doing this story last - they pull props right out from under the whole premise. WHY should Leyla who now has Sam, and Reilly who now has Ben, care if Mallory and Jack are doing the "wild thing"? Jack wants to tell them they have been involved from the very start, Mallory prefers to keep hiding it from her "good" friends.

These are friends to whom you tell everything. These very friends pitch in and give Mallory a small fortune to finish her documentary, yet she has been lying to them for years and prefers to KEEP lying to them? To compound errors in plotting, The "great friends" have been so close, sharing every woe, every success, yet Mallory (while jumping Jack at every chance she gets) know absolutely nothing about Jack and is content with that. It's only after Jack demands they tell their other two friends, and threatens to cut off the sex, that Mallory stops and wonders how Jack spends his time when he is not in her bed (we are talking over three years here).

The issue of Mallory "dating" Jack would've only been a bone of contention amongst the three women, when they were ALL single and all had yearnings for Jack. Now the other two are paired off, why should it be a problem Jack and Malloy should have to hide their romance? How can four friends be their little bastion against the world and not care more about each other to notice Jack and Mallory were "doing it"? Sorry, a man and woman involved sexually cannot hide it! Small responses toward each other send off signals. If they had made this the lead book, when all three women were lusting after Jack, then the premise would have worked. It would have also made the fact these so-called devoted friends knew so damn little about each other. Of course, I don't put the whole blame on them. Where was the editor? Their editor should have seen this problem coming front point one.

The Carrington's strength in their books is their sizzling writing. The dynamic duo is right on target there. They are daring, sassy, saucy - everything you expect from this writing team. I enjoyed the first two books very much, so I was able to continue reading the last in the series despite it has such a week, shaky and out-of-order plot. Lori and Tony seemed to define the Blaze line, for their story blazes...

It just would've been so much more believable had they put this book at the front of the trio of tales where it would've made more sense. So, just go with the flow, suspend questions and enjoy the talented writing teams magic antics. People reading the other two will enjoy this book more and be willing to ignore the gaping holes in logic. A person not having read the "Carringtons" before, would be advised skip this one and start with one of their others first.

5 out of 5 stars hot hot hot.......2004-03-28

the chemistry between Mallory and Jack is white hot. The no sex vow was broken within days. I liked the way that they played it cool in front of the other friends. If you like white hot Passion then this is the book for you .It is the last one in Mrs.Carrington's Kiss and Tell series and this one is the most romantic one of all of them.

enjoy it.

1 out of 5 stars Get a new proof-reader, please!.......2004-02-29

I was really looking forward to reading this book having enjoyed this author's, a wife and husband team, before. I was distracted from an enjoyable story by really poor editing/proofing. Some things were annoying like the heroine Mallory having her nickname spelled Mall like a shopping mall. Some errors were bothersome like grammatical ones with incorrect tense. Some were hillarious like the word subversive, used in reference to sexual play, when hopefully they meant submissive. Other than these blunders the story was cute, Jack really sexy, Mallory feisty in standard romantic form. Just, please, get a better proofreader next time.

5 out of 5 stars A Great Series for Blaze.......2004-01-12

I have been faithfully reading the Kiss & Tell series by Tori Carrington. I really got involved into the lives of the characters, feeling like I knew them as well as my friends. It is about a quartet of three women and one man, who met for the first time in LA and became fast friends. They have been together through thick and thin, and the only agreement was that they would not sleep with Jack, the male friend.

JUST BETWEEN US...the final book and features the last two friends, Jack and Mallory. We learn that it didnýt take long for the ýno sexý vow to be broken, and that these two have been having a torrid on and off affair for years. Neither wants commitment....or do they? Jack wants more than an occasional one night stand but will he convince Mallory she is his for life? Interwoven within the romance is a bit of a mystery. Mallory is working on a documentary involving a long ago murder mystery, but it is just a background to the romance, and hot bedroom action. It all gets tidied up in the end, and you get to see more of the characters from the first two books.(NIGHT FEVER and FLAVOR OF THE MONTH) It was fast, funny and just the story to warm me up on cold nights.

If you like your romance hot and burning the sheets, with a little mystery and lots of romance, then pick up JUST BETWEEN US...

5 out of 5 stars amusing torrid romance.......2003-12-26

When Mallory Woodruff, Layla Hollister, Reilly Chudowski, and newspaper columnist Jack Daniels (no comment needed) became best friends, they agreed the one male was off-limits. However, Mallory and Jack stilled ended up in bed together that very night the pact was struck. Since then Mallory and Jack have been a hot item, but serendipitously hide their affair from their two buddies.

Newspaper columnist Jack is tired of hiding how he feels towards Mallory. He knows he risks a lot as the sex is great and he loves her, but he needs their relationship to come out of dark bedrooms and into the light of friends. However, documentary director Mallory feels otherwise as she is contented with an illicit relationship that does not interfere with her friendships and her career while providing great sex. Jack and Mallory still generate more heat in Southern California than the sun, but are they heading to a supernova over whether to come out or not?

JUST BETWEEN US fans of Team Carrington, this is an amusing torrid romance that burns up the sheets (of the novel as much as the boudoir). Mallory is an intriguing protagonist who feels commitment to the man she loves that she fears will cost her commitment to the career that means everything. Jack is heroic as he plays cat and mouse with his phobic beloved to show there is room for a permanent duet helping each other achieves their best artistic endeavor. This is another winner from one of the best writers of the sexy romance.
