Book Description

Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.

Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.

5 out of 5 stars Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09

There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.

For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.

4 out of 5 stars History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10

Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.

I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.

Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.

Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.

I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.

This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

This calendar is a perfect gift for the teenage goth. Solidly PG13 rated. But I personally didn't like the image-altering techniques used. ie the pretend sepia tints that make the photos look like almost like illustrations.

I wish L'Oreal would produce a calendar of the posters they use for their Marijel and Clynol range.

The second novel in Tiedemann's Secantis Sequence series is convincing military science fiction with an emphasis on the human costs of war.

Cira Kalinge and Alexan Cambion are officers of the Armada, the military force that keeps the peace among the settled worlds of the Pan Humana. When Alexan's home world declares secession from the Pan, Cira and Alexan are part of the force dispatched to enforce order among the dissidents. What seems like a straightforward mission escalates into a conflict that will force all parties into difficult and damaging choices, and will change their lives irrevocably.

Although this is a standalone novel, Tiedemann builds successfully on the background established in his first Secantis novel, Compass Reach (a Philip K. Dick Award nominee), to create a highly believable historical background and political system, weaving the experiences of various characters together in a fast-paced story that never loses its emotional focus on the effects of war on the people involved. --Roz Genessee

Book Description

When Cira Kalinge signed on with the Armada, she thought her staid, provincial family disowning her was the worst thing that could happen. Then the Secession happened and she found herself on a carrier heading for the Distal colonies to carry out a suppression of other humans, humans who had apparently chosen to cast their fortunes with nonhumans in defiance of the Pan Humana edicts severing all contact with the seti races. And when she ended up the sole survivor of the entire fighter contingent of her task force, grounded on Finders during the worst days of the chaos of open rebellion, living precariously for the day the Armada returned to reclaim Finders, the last thing she expected was to be betrayed by the very service for which she had given up everything else. For Alexan Cambion, volunteering for combat duty seemed the ideal way to justify his father's faith in him, fighting to preserve the Pan Humana. But when he returns to his homeworld--Finders--shot down and captured in the first open engagement of the Secession, he learns to his dismay that every action he has taken since leaving Finders for Armada service has been exactly the opposite of what his father intended, and the welcome he expects becomes a nightmare. Sean Merrick did not start his career as a double agent, but as the Secession began he found his sympathies siding more and more with the secessionists. As the battle of Finders rages and he travels the boundary between the Distals and the Pan, he learns how impossible it is to stay aloof and uncommitted. In the end, all of them must decide between loyalty and morality, family and integrity, duty and truth.

5 out of 5 stars antidote to feelgood war.......2003-03-04

Too much military SF glories in body count and massive destruction and is ultimately pretty much a lie about what war is really like. Of course, in science fiction I guess you can make up anything and who's to say you got it wrong. But if you're going to write about human beings truthfully, then you have to be honest about how things are.

When I saw that METAL OF NIGHT was military fiction I almost put it down. But I really enjoyed COMPASS REACH and I thought maybe this wouldn't be the standard fare.

It's not. I don't know if Mark W. Tiedemann was ever in combat--I've never been--but his prose comes across like the real thing. This is a novel about civil war, basically, and the inhuman things people do in the name of causes. It's about how much chaos and calamity really come out of war. It's about costs and consequences. And the thing is, it holds you because you really care about these characters. They aren't cardboard cutouts like--well, like a lot of others in SF.

It's also about the remarkable kindnesses that can happen and the sacrifices people make under the toughest circumstances and the power of the human spirit to survive and flourish even in what is essentially hell.

And it follows on logically from COMPASS REACH--it's the revolt after the disaster. The thing is, he makes it personal. He focuses on a few people--on both sides of the conflict--and tells the story from inside their heads. You rarely see this.

And the universe just gets better. He's making it complex and interesting and tantalizing.

This might be a good book to read given the current state of the world. It takes the shine off all the fake heroics we usually get in milSF. I can't wait for his next one. This is a writer to follow.

5 out of 5 stars Look at this!.......2003-03-01

Here's a new(?) author for your up and coming list. Mark Tiedemann is that anachronism in writing today, an author who won't bore you with shallow characters or a thinly veiled space opera plot. This guy really does his homework on Metal of Night, the much awaited 'second' to Compass Reach in his Secantis series. As he draws you into his universe, his storytelling ability will remind you of Asimov, for whom he recently penned a new Robot Mystery Trilogy(Mirage, Chimera & Aurora) Check him out, you know you want to!

5 out of 5 stars sf for adults.......2002-11-08

Thoughtful, intelligent storytelling by a writer who envisions a future full of complex and diverse beings - beings who continually question their world and who, thereby, continually evolve.

Tiedemann not only gives us a female protagonist with "dark skin like polished wood," but allows Cira and others to question the classism and isolationism that (unfortunately) still pervade their time.

And, if you're not in the mood for deep thoughts, Metal of Night works just fine as a "...to the wind" action/adventure story.

4 out of 5 stars great read.......2002-10-26

I picked this book up after reading compass reach, although it deals with different charaters it is a great companion to the first novel. It expands the universe and makes me want to read more.

5 out of 5 stars The Plot Thickens.......2004-01-02

Once again ADV brings to the reader a well-mixed blend of action, comedy, and romance. FMP book 2 has it all. Unlike the first book, instead of introducing the reader to the characters, it starts to focus the reader onto the plot of the story. Action starts to happen and the ministories that we saw in book 1 are gone. Now it's all-out war, the plot has thickened.

Sagara Souseke is on a field trip when he and his classmates are suddenly attacked by an enemy of his past, who looks to kidnap none other than Kaname Chidori. Will Sagara be able to save Kaname before they utilize her for their demonic purposes? And what is so special about her anyways?

In addition to an action development Love Hina fans will be happy to know that we see a romance one as well. Again Gatou is able to dazzle the reader with such a special love relationship that even those with the strongest of hearts will falter.

The plot? Awesome. The translation? Spectacular. The drawing? Impeccable. May the stars shine in the sky.

This is a NAVAL POSTGRADUATE SCHOOL MONTEREY CA report procured by the Pentagon and made available for public release. It has been reproduced in the best form available to the Pentagon. It is not spiral-bound, but rather assembled with Velobinding in a soft, white linen cover. The Storming Media report number is A642724. The abstract provided by the Pentagon follows: Friction Stir Processing (FSP), although relatively simple in concept, results in an extremely complex thermomechanical treatment to the material being processed. Previous studies of FSP have shown that the process results in extremely high strain, strain rates and temperatures as well as gradients in strain, strain rate and temperature within a small volume of material. This thesis will study the effect of varying FSP parameters during the processing of Nickel-Aluminum- Bronze (NAB) propeller material. The modeling program CTH was used to define the relationship between tool rotation speed, traversing speed and the total power input to the material. The tool s mechanical power and the power generated by deformation of the material has been investigated. The modeling experiments were designed to gain an understanding of the relationship of process parameters, microstructure and mechanical properties, and to enhance our understanding of the flow patterns and thermal histories of the NAB material in the stir zone.

The benefits of outsourcing these activities are greater efficiency, better service, and reduced costs. However, outsourcing has experienced very lifetime success. This is in large part due to DOD's reluctance to rely on inorganic assets, resistance from Congress and the executive branch, public-employee union's criticism, improper incentives for Base Commanders, prohibitive short term costs and the cumbersome A-76 requirements. To realize the benefits of outsourcing DOD must: fund programs that encourage volunteer separation, streamline the requirements of the A-76 Circular, provide training for employees who complete the A-76, provide activities incentives to complete the process, fund outsourcing's short term costs, fund staffs trained to handle outsourcing's human resources issues, and seek modification of current bumping and retreating policies.

The abstract provided by the Pentagon follows: Understanding and accurately predicting attrition is vital to correctly managing the retention of naval aviators. This thesis investigates the ability of models incorporating a number of economic measures to predict naval aviator attrition rates. Using data from 1978 to 1990, this study examined a wide range of potential economic explanatory variables and their effects on naval aviator attrition rates. The naval aviator data set was grouped into six populations, separated by aviation community (helicopter, jet and propeller) and by years of service (5-8 and 9-12). Three separate linear regression models for each of the aviator groups were developed, and their predictive ability evaluated. The study found that: no single model was best at predicting attrition rates for all groups; simple models using one or two variables performed better than complex, multivariate models; the most useful predictor variable was the national unemployment rate; attrition rates with the highest levels and variability were in the jet and propeller pilot groups with five to eight years of service, and the most significant models, able to outperform a naive prediction, were found for these groups.

The abstract provided by the Pentagon follows: Sopite Syndrome is a poorly understood response to motion characterized by drowsiness, fatigue, sleep disturbances, and mood changes. It is distinct from "regular" motion sickness or common fatigue, and may affect the performance of motor vehicle as well as aircraft operators. The potential impact Sopite Syndrome may have on military aviation is relatively unknown. Recently, research in situations relevant to aviation training and flight operations has been initiated. The present study is part of that effort. Its goal is to determine the incidence, severity, and association of Sopite Syndrome characteristics in a population of Student Naval Flight Officers (SNFOs). Seventy-eight SNFOs assigned to Training Squadrons Four and Ten located at the Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida completed a questionnaire designed to capture evidence/incidence of fatigue, motion sickness, drowsiness, and sleep disturbances during days when SNFOs flew versus non-flying days. The questionnaire data was coded/tabulated for entry on a spreadsheet for subsequent analysis. Descriptive and non-parametric statistical techniques were used to analyze the data set obtained. The results show sufficient evidence between the levels of symptomology and their relationships when comparing conditions that support the existence of Sopite Syndrome in operational flight training.
