Great Book to read even if you're not a big reader!!! .......2007-02-19
Wow!!!! Great Book! I went to Mexico last year and visited Chichenitza and heard the stories of the crystal skulls and was entriged. This book (based on facts)takes you on an adventure of how some of the skulls were found and the effects they have on people. The history and native beliefs and also how scientifically; they are an enigma. I couldn't put this book down and I'm usually one of those people who starts to read and falls asleep in the middle of a chapter.... Not this book!!! It's great!! I highly recommend!!

This book often reads like a great adventure novel; however, at some points inthe story it can essentially be considered as such. This is a wonderful view into the world of the crystal skulls, and it is well worth the investment to anyone who chooses to work with these sacred tools. This is also a valuable book to any advanced stoudent of any application of crystals.
The Mystery Ends In 2012.......2005-08-31
This is an excellent book for those with a peaked interest in the interconnection of all people and our pasts. Or in laymen terms Crystal Skulls. This book takes a very broad examination of a very expansive subject. It does explore the most common beliefs/concepts about the skull, not just popular or scientific. They really combed the world to ask the right people. From Native American shaman to top level scientists working for Hewlett Packard when they conducted scientific tests on the Mitchell-Hedges Skull in 1970.
Excellent bibliography, an excellent beginning to a quality bookcase.
Everyone In The World Should Read This Book.......2005-08-28
It's a wonderful surprise when you pick up a book not knowing much about it and it turns out to be so great. That's what happened to me with this book.
Just by reading this one book you can get caught up on the entire new age movement. It touches on many of the main new age ideas.
It also offers a possible theory for the origin of our human race including the time when our dna was converted from a single strand to two strands which contain the memories of both the original earth people and the star people.
These crystal skulls, especially the original 13 that were given to humanity by beings from other planets, are exquisite and priceless works of art. But they are much more. When they have been brought back together they will become an amazing 'living library' of ancient and arcane knowledge.
These skulls can truly be called sacred objects. It is not often that a physical object can be said to possess supernatural properties.
The big question is what is going to happen on 12/21/12 when this current age ends.
Will we enter a new age of peace and wonderous knowledge ?
Or will our human race simply die out as a result of pollution, greed, and violence ? This book has been published at this time to hopefully prevent this from happening.
Only time will tell and we don't have too long to wait.

I loved this book! It is filled with fascinating stories and information concerning something very concrete. It flows beautifully and holds you with ease. The Native American angle is especially intriguing. In the end, of course, you end up wanting more to sink your teeth into. But that is the curse of a great read.

A little flakey at times, but what do you really ecpect. Best when paired against a more 'practical', physical examination of the skulls, for the sake of fact-checking and drama-reduction. Overall, very interesting.

Not just another book on quartz crystals..........2001-07-16
I remember reading this book when it first came out, and was impressed with it then. Recently, I purchased another copy and was reminded why I liked it so much. Mr. Dorland was a well respected art authenticator with much experience in research techniques. This background served him well, as he lets the reader follow the progress of his initial interest, and eventual in-depth research, into the synergistic effects of, and some techniques and practical uses for active rock quartz crystals.
The book starts with his examination into the background, and possible historical uses of the famous Mitchell-Hedges crystal skull, which he studied for six years. He is the one who brought the skull to the Hewlett-Packard lab to be studied. He documented his efforts and observations and it makes interesting reading. This led him to close his successful business and devote his time to researching the historic and traditional uses of electronic quartz crystals. What stands out for me, is how he ties traditional, shamanic / magical practices in with the modern `scientific' usage of quartz in electronic devices, etc. He paints a convincing picture for there being a logical reason, (and not just superstition or placebo effect) why specific types of crystals have consistently been used the world over by `healers and adepts' for augmenting and accelerating the effects of healing, meditative states, etc. If you have an open mind, but don't buy every idea that comes 'from the ethers' as being valid, this book will appeal to you. He makes a good case for all but the most dedicated of skeptics to take another look at how quartz crystals can be useful. For those people who already use crystals or are interested in possible 'metaphysical' properties this is a must read for anyone of rock quartz. You may learn a thing or two.

Finally an actual book without mumbo jumbo on ROCK CRYSTAL. How to use it and why it works.
Photos, examples and how to acquire one of the crystal carvings.
I have read it several times and find something new each time.
A touch of Mysticism with alot of fact should be the way a book is written on such an important subject.

This book is very informative and gives a good background on crystal skulls. It tells you about the origin of ancient crystal skulls, as well as the usefulness of contemporary crystal skulls. I'm fortunate to find this book during my search on crystal skulls.
Fulfilling a needed role.......2006-12-21
This book is unique among all books on crystal skulls inasmuch that it actually spends much of its time detailing the uses of modern skulls among healers and skull enthusiasts. This book begins with vignettes telling the tales of Maz's personal skulls and then moves on to well-known crystal skull enthusiasts/custodians/etc and their personal experiences.
The latter half of the book presents information regarding communicating with crystal skulls, how to attune to them, cleanse them, use them in healing, build special gridworks from them, and numerous other wonderful techniques for inviting crystal skull energy into our lives.
Additionally, their are appendices with contact information for those people mentioned in the book and reputable sources for high quality skulls.
Overall, this is a wonderful companion to any crystal skull, ancient or otherwise!
One of a kind, as far as I know.......2004-06-05
There are several books about ancient skulls, their discovery, and theories on their origin, but this is the only book I know about for using contemparary skulls in meditation.
Maz's (as she's known online) writing style hooked me in a way that kept me reading, like a good detective story might. In fact, what makes Maz interesting to read is she is a story teller at heart.
She tells her own story of coming to know stone skulls and her experiences with them which leads to the stories of other people and meditation techniques that have come through, like the Sacred Seven.
Maz also gives recommendations on how to choose a stone, how to cleanse and dedicate it, and how to incorporate stone skulls onto our every day life.
I would describe this book as inspired.
A necessity for any crystal skull library.......2004-06-04
For anyone intrigued by crystal skulls and wanting to work with one, this book is a must have. While there are a number of books out there talking about the ancient crystal skulls, this is the only book to talk about contemporary crystal skulls.
The author speaks about the experiences of some current skull keepers and about her own skulls. But what really makes this book valuable is the section on working with your contemporary crystal skull. As most of us will never even see an ancient skull, this book is invaluable.

This book filled a big gap for me.
I have been fascinated by crystal skulls for quite a few years.
That lead me to become the keeper of many contemporary and some not so contemporary skulls.
Marion's book is full of invaluable advice on how to care for them, dedicate them to the Highest Good,
communicate with them, let them help you with your healing work and spiritual development and so much more.
Her Love for these special crystal companions shines through every word.

The Crystal Skulls is an adventurous quest with a terrific ending. The plot twists are fun, the bad guys are cool, and the story is engaging...a real page turner. The cast of characters is a great mix of personalities and the world they live in is even more interesting. I would recommend this book to any fan of fantasy and I look forward to the sequel!
Good Adventure and Thriller.......2004-11-14
What an excellent first novel! A little mystery, magic and adventure. The best part about this novel is the characters. I have read other fantasy books that just don't allow their characters to grow. There is quest but it is almost secondary to the interactions of his characters to one another and their environment.
The story is definitely influenced by authors like Tolkien and Robert Jordan, though Visser was able to only use them as a foundation. The story and world has evolved into something unique.
I highly recommend this book for lovers of fantasy. The only criticism of the book I have is that the first couple of chapters are a little rough in the writing. I think it is a result of being a first novel and also constructing the beginnings of his story without giving away the ending. This book is a must read.
I read the Crystal Skulls.......2004-10-17
I have read Jan Visser's short stories but this is the first novel of his I've read. This is a great story. It's a fantasy novel but with so much suspense, twists and descriptions of dramatic scenery and events, that many readers will enjoy it. If you enjoyed Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter, you'll like this book!

Although it is largely speculative, this is a great resource full of information that was controversial in its day. This book also has great photos documenting the study of the Mitchell-Hedges skull and some interesting theories.
This book details Anna Mitchel-Hedges and her father more than most, and it includes a photograph of an affadavit signed by Anna attesting to the story of the skull's origin.

A good three hour story.......2002-07-02
I picked this book up at the library for some easy reading because some friends told me it was good. I checked the ratings here on Amazon and found out that the spanish was wrong and that there really was no Utah/New Mexico border. That didn't help me much and I read the story. It was a good story and since I don't know spanish the language was no problem to me and I wasn't bothered. The story itself was good. I easily went through it in three hours and I found the difference of the story from anything else was good. I found the character a little rude though but it is rarly that the protaganist is so I went on. I thought the mix of the ghost and the sliver of magic involved was very interesting and since I had not read any of the other books it made me want to go back and read them.

This book was extreamly fast paced and is almost soley based for the younger audience. Norma Lehr Writes of a girl who can see ghosts and hear them when others cannot. When Kathy-the girl- goes on a vacation to New Mexico. She starts to see visions of a crystal skull and things start to happen. The story itself kept my intrest as a reader and I thought the character a little blunt but it was a characteristic you don't really see in other books.I would recomend this to kids and to the adult who wants a couple hours worth of reading and an exciting story.
A flawed mix of magic and mystery.......1999-12-31
I was eager to read this mystery set in the southwest. However, on the first page there is a reference to our heroine in a small plane crossing the Utah-New Mexico border. The only place where Utah and New Mexico even touch is at Four Corners. Hardly a border. I was ready to overlook that goof and went on with the mystery. It was only mildly exciting, relying too much on this author's concept of magic realism. I was also disappointed in the many errors when Spanish words were used. I don't know if this is the fault of the author or poor editing, but the errors could easily have been checked in a dictionary. Let's hope the next book by Norma Lehr shows a bit more care with details and drama.
