Book Description
In the newest entry in the enduring Dragon Ball series, the Strongest Under the Heavens tournament rages on, and already Yamcha has been eliminated. In the battle between the smallest fighters of the Turtle and Crane schools, Kuririn pits his kamehameha against the Dodon-pa blast of Chaozu. Things really heat up when the match between Jackie Chun and Tenshinhan becomes a battle of ideology rather than strength. Dragon Ball is one of the most popular manga in the world, with top-rated shows on the Cartoon Network and Telemundo. This adventure is presented in the original right-to-left Japanese format.

The Saga Continues.......2003-10-03
A must have for any true Dragonball Z fan. This manga includes the original artwork and continues the amazing story of Dragonball. A must have for an Akira Toriyama fan (author of Dragonball & Dr. Slump) his work continues to inspire Manga and Anime alike all over the world.
i wish for..........2003-08-13
this dragonball rocks in it are some great macthes like goku vs. kuririn, goku vs. tenshinhan, and jackie chun vs. tenshinhan. im really mad at viz comics for ending it right at comic 132 the arms race. but here is whats going on goku is fighting tenshinhan for champion they are both using really cool moves and tenshinhan was a bout to use an extremely powerful move.
Dragon Ball Vol.11.......2003-08-08
This book is totally awesome!!!! In it Goku and Tenshinhan fight to win the world tournament! You should buy it!!!!!!!!!!!
Kickin' things around..........2003-07-30
The manga magazine SHONEN JUMP brings a never-before-seen volume of Dragon Ball to America. This one begins in the midst of the 22nd "Tenkaichi Budokai" fighting tournament. At the start, cool bald-headed Kuririn is fighting the single-haired, doll-like Chaozu. Kuririn defeats him with an unusual method, but you'll have to read the book to find out what it is.
Later, the three-eyed Tenshinhan goes up against the impostor Jackie Chun (no relation to Jackie Chan). After Chun's stunning defeat, the half-monkey main character, Goku, must fight Tenshinhan.
The next fight is surprising. The "two best friends being forced to fight each other" theme is common in manga, but this time around, it's more interesting.
This book combines astounding battle action with a dollop of humor...Not only that, but this is probably the most clean book of the entire Dragon Ball series...DB Volume 11 is an excellent book for anyone who loves manga.

Customer Reviews:
hey it's dragonball, so it's gotta be good.......2007-04-09
well i'm a dragonball veteran and i've pretty much read the whole series, and i know all about dragonball z, i'll say that any dragonball comic is good. it does not matter which one it is. they are all just great. i gave it 5 stars because it just downright hilarious, and it has an awesome storyline. there is a lot of action and funny parts, i would not recommend this book, or volume one and three, because goku is still pretty stupid and does not know that much, and he does not get embarrassed. so you will probobly see a little bit of frontal a rear nudity, of course akira toriyama did not put much detail in. (of course), except for maybe the part with Bulma, but you'll get to that. Anyway, i'm tellin ya, if you gonna get these books, start out with the first one and work you're way up from there, you'll definitly want to keep reading these, because they are funny and are just plain great.
Not as good as volume 1.......2006-04-04
In the secound volume of dragon ball Goku and his friends vist the ox kings home and tell him about the dragon balls. Luckly ox king has one but he will only give it to Goku if he can find his missing dughter for him. Goku sets out to find ox kings missing dughter Chi-chi but also needs to get Kame-shni(Trutle Hurmit) to help put out the fire on fry pan mountain. After Goku learns the Ka-Me-Ha-Me-Ha he Bulma and Oloung set out to find the last ball but peliaf captures them in his castle leaving them to die. Then when Goku looks at the full moon he could be just what they need to save the day. The only reason I gave this 3 stars is beacuse the volume get boring at times and isn't really good. Agian I don't recoumend this for childern this volume has alcohol nudity and some rude humor. Anyway after buying it you may only read a few times.
IT'S DRAGON BALL HE HE IT'S THE BEST IN THE WOULD.......2005-09-01
Ya it's the best in the WOULD no da!!!!!! this ones realy good it remond me of the T.V seris. You no what to exspet if you read the first one. I CAN'T WHAT TO READ THE 3 ONE!!!!!!
i also recomend Zatch Bell for Teens and Full Metal Panic OVERLOAD!!!!! check them out
Now we get to Vol. 2..........2004-12-07
This is the second volume in the 42 set of Dragonball. Vol 2 continues where volume one left off, with Goku trying to get the magic fan. Included in here are Chapters 12 - 24. 181 pages of Dragonball Manga. In this volume, Bulma and Goku go about getting the last 2 dragon balls. Only, Gasp, they run into trouble. The bunny mafia and emperor pilaf both make their grand entrance here. This completes the emperor Pilaf story arc, and brings us into the training arc. The last chapter is, infact, the first chapter of the training arc, where goku is challenged to find a girl that will impress that lecherous old Turtle Hermit, to get him to train him. Kuririn is hinted at in the next title, so he makes his grand appearence then.
Db is a series for those who like lots of off color humor coupled with some action here and there. There is some pretty objectionable stuff - ball jokes, and Turtle Hermit is at his most perverted, most of the same from Vol 1. As far as nudity goes, you get a shot of Goku's rear end, and a shot of the front, but that really doesn't count since Toriyama didn't exactly detail that particular area (Can you blame the man?). Non of Bulma atleast.
As you flip through the volume, you can start to see Toriyama's art style change in some panels to the harder style of DBZ, then revert back to his bubbly, silly drawing style favored in the dragonball series. Personally, I prefer the latter, but it is interesting nontheless to see little spots of his Z-art style emerge in some of the more action oriented panels.
Overall, this is a recommended read, if you liked the first volume. Personally, I've never been one for the emperor pilaf arc, I like the tournament and training arcs myself. The next book in the series is recommended also.
BEST DB YET!!!!!.......2003-12-25
Now,anyone who buys this NEEDS a strong sense of humor(and some white-out for kids like me). This comic IS rated Teen but I figured'heck,I'll just white-out the bad parts'.When I did, there was a fair amount to white-out(I even taped some pages together).By now you're probably wondering why I rated it for 5 stars, right?WELL IT'S WORTH IT!!!!!!!After my cover-up efforts,I discovered it was HILARIOUS!!!!I hope this was helpful!=)

Here is the ninth volume of the runaway hit series printed in the original Japanese right-to-left format. The Ginyu Force is on the run as Captain Ginyu and Jheese face off against Vegeta, Kuririn, Gohan, and Goku. But this crafty alien isn't licked yet, and may have a trick or two left up his sleeve.
Customer Reviews:
The end of the Ginyu force!.......2004-02-11
The last of the Ginyu force bite the dust in this book. For those not in the know the Ginyu force are super strong aliens that Freeza hired after his henchmen got killed in book number 7. Vegeta kills Jheese and Captain Ginyu (who has the ability to switch bodies) gets trapped in the body of a frog. Quite weird.

Customer Reviews:
Dragon Ball - The King of Manga.......2007-06-05
Okay, while Dragon Ball isn't my favorite manga, it is probable the most well-known and most celebrated manga to date. And for good reason.
Volume 1 tells the story of when Bulma first met Goku, and they decide to hunt down the dragon balls. Goku's grandfather has died, and he is living alone in the wilderness, so he really has nothing to lose. The stories in this volume leave you wondering about Goku's origin (Bulma is constantly suprised by his mysterious monkey-tail), laughing at Goku's innocence, Oolong the pigs diarrhea, and Yamcha's shy perversion. Dragon Ball is a great manga. It will have you laughing and marveling at Akira Toriyama's unique artwork. If you're a fan of shonen manga but have not read Dragon Ball, do yourself a favor and try it out.
On a side note, Dragon Ball: Volume 1 is rated T for teen (ages 13 and over). I have heard that there are censored versions of the book as well as uncensored ones, and I'm not sure if this is true, but I know that I own an uncensored book. Uncensored, Dragon Ball contains some mild language, some mild violence (a cartoonish monster is decapitated),many sexual jokes (Goku is often "patting" strangers out of curiosity to whether they are male or female), and a generous amount of nudity (Son Goku is seen completely nude, Bulma has a shower scene where breasts and bottom are exposed, etc.) I'd recommend Dragon Ball for those ages 16 and over, despite the teen rating it received.
Dragonball 1 Review.......2007-04-29
Akira Toriyama's 1984 manga series "Dragonball" has got to be one of my favorites. While a lot of people in America think (negatively) of Dragonball as Dragonball Z or GT (manga/anime), I think of the classic Dragonball that has entertained me for the last couple years.
I first found Dragonball when browsing through manga at my local bookstore. The dragon on the cover was just one of the things that caught my eye. Inside, there was a whole world to be explored! I fell in love with Toriyama's detailed art, the ironic and entertaining storyline, the characters, the jokes...everything has made it a wonderful manga for me.
While it has its good things, it also has its bad. I would not reccomend Dragonball for people younger than 14, or to people who don't like manga, or even can't take a joke. Dragonball contains some violence (but no blood), crude humor, and sexual references.
In conclusion, Dragonball is just one of my favorite manga series, but perhaps my most valued. I hope you will like Dragonball, too!
A pleasant surprise.......2006-04-06
I've been a long time manga fan, but Dragonball Z was the one series I never could get into. There was just too much testosterone and muscles and screaming for my liking, and it tainted my view on Akira Toriyama himself.
Little did i know the Dragon Ball, the prequel to DragonBallZ, is in fact very different. I read it at my school library and was very pleasantly surprised, what I found was a fun adventure series that is often very racey but always hilarious.
Akira Toriyama has a fabulous gift for characterisation, and the ones he presents in this manga are extremely fun. Goku is a little monkey-tailed, uncivilized kid who has never seen other people before, and is somewhat shameless, Bulma is rather superficial and full of herself but tries to keep Goku in check, and Oolong the shape shifting pig is comedy gold.
As the other reviews can probably tell you, this isnt for the kiddies, but I myself was laughing my head off at some of the 'inappropriate' humour, such as Goku asking Bulma why she has 'a butt on her chest', and his horror-struck realistation that girls are different from boys as they have...'parts missing'.
The reason I give this book 3 stars however, is because of VIZ's english release. I do not like their habit of replacing the original japanese SFX with english, I feel it ruins the art. Aside from that, some of the speech was a little iffy, characters like Goku and Chi-chi were given oddly accented voices which didnt sound right to me. I am glad that for once VIZ DIDNT tone down any sexual jokes or censored any nudity as they have done in other Shonen Jump titles.
A must have!!!!.......2006-02-06
I got my copy four years ago, first printing, cause I wanted to read Goku's childhood since I always missed the show on cartoon network.I was thinking, okay I'll buy all 16 volumes of dragonball since shonen jump was publishing the later half better known in the US as DBZ.Boy, was I wrong, after half way reading the first chapter I was hooked and sayed to myself I'll buy all the volumes 1 through 42.Right now I am in volume 27(DBZ vol. 11)
The best manga ever!.......2006-02-06
Dragon ball is the best manga i've ever read it has good action humor and adventure. This is the first volume of the whole 42 volume series(incluidng dragon ball Z)it shows how goku meets all of his friends. However parents should beware thare are parts In here that are not for kids thare is some nudity viloince and languge and alot of dirty jokes this is probley the funneist one in the series but defintilly the most inproproit one also. The pepole that are relly bad are master roushi and oloung. This is defnitlly the best manga I have ever read anyone 13+ should read it enjoy!

Dragon Ball Z at its best.......2002-02-04
Listen up ya'll. You want the pure, unsaturated Dragon Ball Z, then the Mangas are your best buy! I have issues 1-7 for DBZ and DB and they are great. Uncensored, uncut, blood, guts, perverted humor, the works! They even use the real names (i.e. Son Goku and Kurirun).See the things America networks didn't want you to see (like the a Ginyu Force member getting his head torn off). Plus one issue is like 10 eps of the TV show. Issue 1 has the entire Raditz saga up to Goku's death Issue two is the snake way and Gohan's training and so on.This series is a must for Dragon Ball fans.
