an amazing book.......2007-01-16
It's a great book. I didn't get a chance to read it all through but I did read a few of the techiques and used them on my boyfriend. We live 700 miles away from each other and he was amazed at the different things I did to him. Just can't wait to finish the book and try everything techique there is on him.
Pagan Philosophy 101.......2006-04-18
I bought this book as a gift for my spouse. Notice I said "spouse". Sex is made to be enjoyed within the bond of marriage, I do not condemn any sex enjoyed within that loving relationship. It is a pure and holy union instituted by God.
My biggest problem with this book is something that none of the other reviewers really mentioned. Not only does the author include a couple stories and references to her and her friends' lovers, but she inundates the reader with idolatry. This author's beliefs revolve around "gods and goddesses". She constantly talks about sex altars, statues of gods and goddesses, icons and pagan history. She makes statements about penis worship, ceremonies and invoking the spirit of gods and goddesses. This is sick and twisted, it cetainly is not what I had hoped for. There may be some okay ideas in here, but there are plenty of other books that do not lead us down the wrong road just because we are interested in achieving better physical intimacy with our husbands or wives.
The other part is that the author assumes that the reader enjoys reading curses. Why should people relate loving sex with idol worship and immorality?
This book takes a great thing, sex, and twists it into something that many people will not want to read about. If you are looking for a good book about this subject, I recommend looking elsewhere. Hopefully, this review has helped you make that choice.
Exciting yet difficult.......2005-10-08
I ordered the book and was so excited to see all the different positions one can do with their partner. Most of the positions are the same, maybe a leg move or an arm in a different position, but otherwise the book is alright.
Some of the positions in the book are difficult to accomplish. You have to be either flexible, slim, or your man has to be packing in the genital department to accomplish some of these positions.
Otherwise, it was great just experimenting and having fun with your partner. Women will read the book and understand what's going on here. Men would be more like, "I don't care where I have to put my leg to feel a different sensation, is it in or not?" That's funny. It's a good book, it's fun to read and exciting to try.
worth reading.......2005-09-23
fun ideas, organized into fun chapters. excellent names for the techniques (which, in my opinion, is part of the fun!). worthy compilation - buy a copy for all your timid friends.
Some good inspiration..........2005-01-11
While the book provides some really great inspiration and ideas to add to your sexual repertoire, some of the way-too-many synonyms and descriptive words used for male and female anatomy provided not only giggles, but enough adjectives for 8 or 9 romance novels.. Honestly, "Love Rocket, Shivering Member, Celestial Dragon, Healing / Royal Sceptor, Magic Wand, Warrior Weapon, Love Organ, Cobra, Stalk, Untamed Animal..." to list a few.
Definitely a book worth reading and referring back to for those in stagnant relationships needing a sexual boost - or even those new to sexual relationships...

Book Description
Many Christians are used to the idea of a meek and mild Jesus, the stereotypical ''nice guy.'' Countering these all too prevalent notions, Mark Galli offers a unique study of seventeen troubling passages from the book of Mark to prove we should be anything but comfortable with Christ. Highlighting the incontrovertible fact of an untamable and often militant Messiah, Galli gives readers a training manual in spiritual growth to awaken sleeping believers and transform them into devoted disciples. Hinging on the compelling nature of the love of God, he explains how this mean and wild Jesus shows us truer love than our pleasant construct ever could. Striking and bold, but always rooted in Scripture, Jesus Mean and Wild will put readers on the road to true discipleship.

Whitewash.......2007-09-10
What? Jesus curses a fig tree for not bearing fruit out of season or calls a mother seeking help for her child a dog? No worries. It's all good, a kindness don't you see. I believe a miracle is in order here. It's not so much turning water into wine, but the venom of brutish, nasty behavior into the milk of human kindness. Why start thinking now? To say it is to make it so!
Once you throw reason out the window, you can let pretty much anything in the door.
This is how faith evolves with time

Need Help Smashing Your "God Box"?.......2007-06-11
Wow! So many things make sense when you get a more accurate understanding of Who Jesus is and how He views things. I got so much encouragement regarding the church in its seemingly impoverished state, and my involvement therein---(I was beginning to faint)...Not to lift up the man, but God speaks cutting, cleansing, healing truth through Mr. Galli. Anyone would benefit from this encounter!
Is a book you won't want to miss --- and really, you can't afford to.......2007-06-06
Jesus is often portrayed as meek and mild, but a thorough reading of the gospels reveals that the Son of God was anything but passive. Mark Galli, managing editor of Christianity Today and a former Presbyterian minister, takes a hard look at the real Jesus --- one whose actions, words and wisdom are anything but gumbylike.
In 17 short chapters, JESUS MEAN AND WILD walks readers the book of Mark, digging deep into bite-size portions of scripture. Galli writes:
"For those who truly want to know and love God as he is, the warm and friendly Jesus, although an attractive idea, is but an idol. And the fascist God will simply not do. To enjoy a full-orbed faith will require that our idea of God gain some unnerving texture, some dynamic energy, some subtlety and depth. It will require that we live into the love of God as manifested in the mean and wild Christ. This Jesus reveals not a one-dimensional, sentimental love --- a love that merely makes us feel good --- but a love capable of saving a desperate world."
Galli's writing is poised, thought-provoking, and at times tastes like Godiva. Not only does he manage to weave stories of himself and his experiences into the text, he also draws on a rich well of insights from theologians, writers and Christians from all ages who have displayed the mean and wild side of Christ. Stories of well-known believers such as Hudson Taylor and St. Francis of Assisi run alongside tales of saints scarcely heard of. The result is a compelling book that brings you deeper into the heart of God.
Tucked within the pages of this book, you'll find Galli exploring, explaining and tackling some of the pendulum swings of the modern church. He delicately raises hot-button issues and offers a balanced response to some of the more excessive trends in the church.
In his chapter "Love That Makes Enemies," he writes:
"To be sure, there is risk especially in loving the theologically or morally wayward. Out of mere sympathy, we may become tempted to compromise our values to be nice to them. But true love is robust. It includes compassion and confrontation, empathy and truth-telling, kindness and sternness. When we enter such relationships, we must enter them not with sentimentality but with full-orbed love. This takes not only compassion but courage. Yet it is that very combination that so often gets us in trouble."
Overall, JESUS MEAN AND WILD is one of the best books I've read this year. I had planned on a quick read, but instead I found myself savoring each chapter like fine chocolate --- enjoying a single piece a day in the hopes that the sweetness would last. Eventually the book came to a close, and I found myself wanting to read it again. With chapters short enough to read like a devotional, JESUS MEAN AND WILD is a book you won't want to miss --- and really, you can't afford to.

Too much of a stretch.......2007-01-28
Mark Galli's book helps to shed light upon Jesus's character -- instead of the "warm and fuzzy" Jesus some people follow, Jesus is portrayed as "not always nice", "demanding", "fear and shame-maker", "forsaker", "desire unfulfiller".... Galli chooses to base each chapter on a different aspect of Jesus from 1-2 verses taken from the Gospel of Mark. Some of what Galli writes fits with the verses chosen, but more often than not found that what he writes was really out of context with the entire passage the verses came from.
Many of the chapters made me feel uncomfortable -- not because the book was doing it's job of changing my perspective of Jesus -- but rather the author's stretching of the truth. For example, he wrote "So we struggle with Jesus in such moments because he so willing employs shame and fear and physical intimidation to motivate people." His quote refers to Mark 11:15-17. None of the versions of the Bible mention this scenario with Jesus actually using "shame" tactics; it's the author's own interpretation.
My main concern is that someone who takes Galli's ideas to heart will become demanding, impatient, guilt-driven, mean followers of Jesus. And not in a good way.
Thought-Provoking!.......2007-01-13
Awesome! Couldn't put the book down. It's certainly changed the way I read the Gospels in the Bible. It made you think of just how multi-faceted Jesus is. The concept that has affected my total understanding of Jesus is that we can never fully know Him. There is always more 'mystery' to be discovered, so He is always new . . . every morning!
Book Description
Like a lot of young people in the 1970s, Mark Bittner took the path of the “dharma bum.” When the counterculture faded, Mark held on, seeking shelter in the nooks and crannies of San Francisco’s fabled bohemian neighborhood, North Beach. While living on the eastern slope of Telegraph Hill, he made a magical discovery: a flock of wild parrots. In this unforgettable story, Bittner recounts how he became fascinated by the birds and patiently developed friendships with them that would last more than six years. When a documentary filmmaker comes along to capture the phenomenon on film, the story takes a surprising turn, and Bittner’s life truly takes flight.
“A fascinating love story with wings.” —Boston Herald
“[A] charming memoir. For devoted birders everywhere.” —Reader’s Digest, Editor’s Choice
“[An] inspirational saga of one man finding his life’s meaning in the most serendipitous way.” —San Jose Mercury News
“Instructive, surprising, sweet.” —Gary Snyder, author of Turtle Island and Mountains and Rivers Without End

Really good book.......2007-07-20
This book was recommended to me by someone whose taste in books I questioned. However, I must say this is a well-written, fascinating book. For animals lovers, in particular, you will truly enjoy this story.
Parrots for everyone!.......2007-07-12
What a thrill to learn about Mark Bittner's love and care of the flock of (mostly) cherryheads. I'm not even a bird person, but I was just mesmerized a couple of years ago by a story I heard on NPR about a flock of parrots. I'm still not sure it was the San Francisco flock, but imagine my surprise when I saw Mark's book on my emailed Page-A-Day calendar.
Reading the story was like being there. I learned to like Mark in spite of my reservations in the beginning; couldn't wait to watch the film.
Only a week after finishing the book, I was reading the intro to another book and the author (Jim Palmer) introduced himself as a lover of quirky films that no one else knows about, like "The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill." I considered it a "God-sign."
Read this book; you'll love it.
Love on Wings.......2007-06-27
I throughly enjoyed this true story with a happy ending.
It was written with heart and soul.
And touched mine.
Even better than the movie.......2007-01-03
I watched the movie prior to reading the book.
I enjoyed both but in particular the book.
Mark is a very good writer, especially when you consider that he has no formal training, that I am aware of.
This is a book that you can read again a few months later and be entertained all over again.
On the Wings of Love..........2006-12-26
They say he may have been a modern bohemian Saint Francis living in San Francisco and befriending wild parrots. Or maybe he was simply a man returning (for some time) to the original state of humankind living in harmony with the creatures. Yes, this is the story of wild parrots and a semi-wild man and how they danced, sang, ate seeds, and lived together for six years. Perched high upon a hill overlooking the San Francisco bay, the ancient story of human befriending wild beasts unfolded. The kind of tale that fascinates us today just as it would have fascinated our ancestors in ancient times. Such stories will always fascinate us humans, whenever a gentle, loving heart opens itself to the magic and mystery of creation and engages in a dance of truth with life.
Mark Bittner writes: "In 1988, I took a job as the caretaker of a house on the east side of Telegraph Hill. Two years later I spotted four parrots in the gardens outside my home. Within three years the flock had grown to twenty-six, and I was in love. I spent the next six years making friends with them and learning their ways... I watched them for several years with tremendous curiosity. What were wild parrots doing in San Francisco? Then one day a few of them flew to my fire escape, and my whole life changed..."
In 1996 Mark began writing a book about his experiences with these colorful, fascinating birds. He came to know each parrot individually and personally. Each one has its unique personality, quirks, friendships, courtships, and life pathways. Mark wrote his observations in a journal of the lives of Mingus, Connor, Picasso, Sophie, Olive, Pushkin, Tupelo, and many other parrots whom he named, fed, observed, cared for, and befriended. He also photographed the birds, with stunning results. The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill: A Love Story... With Wings is the highly acclaimed, charming, and best-selling result of Mark's six years with the birds.
Judy Irving, a filmmaker, began creating a documentary of Mark's work with the parrots in 1998. This resulted in her extraordinary documentary, also called The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill. Although the title is the same as the book, the book and film focus on somewhat different aspects of the story. The film (available on DVD) is as much a study of Mark as it is of the parrots. While working on the film, Judy and Mark fell in love. They are now married and living in the gardens of Telegraph Hill. Mark is currently working on a book about his years of living on the street prior to his encounter with the parrots. Judy continues making her high quality films on the environment.
If you read the book or watch the film, you will find that Mark's bird-friends become your friends. James D. Gilardi, Ph.D., Director of the World Parrot Trust, writes: "By falling in with a flock of wild parrots, Bittner has learned more about a real parrot society than those of us studying wild or captive parrots could ever hope to learn." But of course, the book isn't just about parrots. As one reviewer of Mark's book wrote: "By the end of his tale, you will no longer see humans as the center of the universe, if you ever did." And by the time the screen credits are rolling at the end of the film, you will find yourself transformed by this beautifully touching and compelling story.
What I loved especially about both the film and the book is experiencing how Mark himself evolves and transforms through his relationship with the parrots and eventually through his relationship with Judy. He was a lost musician, a street person, a post-beatnik, searching for truth and "right living" as taught by Buddhism. He took odd jobs, tried this and that, but never quite found his path. Until he met the parrots. And then Judy. We sense that the story is far from over, and we yearn to know more of its unfolding... I wish that Judy and Mark would write, or document in film or photographs, more about their personal lives since the publication and dissemination of their book and film. The film opens you up to the delight of these two people, and one yearns to know more. Like the parrots, Judy and Mark have become our friends through the magic of the book and film.
To experience the magic yourself, view the film or DVD, read the book, view Mark's photos, and check out Mark's and Judy's websites. You'll be glad that you did! Beautiful story, beautiful people, beautiful birds.
Yes, if you are a lover of nature, both human and animal, I highly recommend this book and the film/DVD.

Book Description
To Persians, the fourteenth-century poems of Hafiz are not classical literature from a remote past, but cherished love, wisdom, and humor from a dear and intimate friend. Perhaps, more than any other Persian poet, it is Hafiz who most fully accesses the mystical, healing dimensions of poetry. Daniel Ladinsky has made it his life's work to create modern, inspired translations of the world's most profound spiritual poetry. Through Ladinsky's translations, Hafiz's voice comes alive across the centuries singing his message of love.
Customer Reviews:
Divine Hafiz.......2007-08-04
A lifelong fan (dare I say devoted?) to Hafiz and his many works, this book is a must have. Nothing compares to reading Hafiz in Persian, but this book comes very, very close. Hafiz is enlightening, spiritual, refreshing, and above all, very full of wisdom. His works are truly magical, especially considering after all these years, people are still compelled to his work and mystified by his writings. Classic.
Luminous soul food!.......2007-01-19
Hafiz is, together with Rumi, simply one of the greatest poets to have walked on this earth (in my opinion), and Ladinsky's translations bring them to English speakers in a way that we can easliy and deliciously assimilate. This book of enlightening poems will make your soul glow and shiver with delight, if only you let it...
Skip Ladinsky - read Hafiz.......2006-02-26
Once again, Ladinsky claims to be presenting English speaking readers with the work of the great Persian poet Hafiz, and once again, he hasn't felt the need to actually learn Persian or actually base these works on any previous translation of any poem by Hafiz. These are the poems that Ladinsky imagines Hafiz might have written had he been a twentieth century baby boomer Californian disciple of Meher Baba, instead of a 14th century Persian Sufi Muslim. Ladinsky believes (or claims to believe) that Hafiz told him these poems. If so, the afterlife hasn't done anything for the great poet's literary talent.
all you need is love..........2006-01-17
and this book to keep you in touch with your heart.
The beautiful words will take your mind on a sweet journey.
A MUST.......2006-01-15
Read Hafiz any where, any time, in any language.
Take a time to think about it deeply, again, again, and again.
You must try to understand it with your heart, not with your head!
I think no matter in which language is written or translated, Love has only one language.

A Must Read for Every Man.......2007-05-14
I bought this book when I was 49. This book was everything that I had hoped and more. By following the instructions in this book, and exercising, I was able to make love all night long and experience total body orgazisms and keep going. I had girls calling me for dates. I only wish that I had discovered this book when I was younger. Now that my boys are older, I'm buying two more copies for them.
Clench WHAT? Definitely requires a Personal Trainer.......2007-01-31
Eh..
this book was ok. interesting in the fact that it was written by a woman who is a "professional sex surrogate". if that's not a euphimism, I don't know what is.
written from a female perspective, it may seem to be an easy thing to do as she suggests, and some of her male 'colleagues' are reported to be doing these tightening maneuvers, however, just as some people may be able to roll their R's, their tongues, or cross their eyes, others simply cannot, for whatever reason.
I just think a little more disclosure would be prudent to avoid returns - :D
Huge surge of confidence.......2006-09-21
Guys, this book is a must have. We've all heard about working your PC muscle out to last as long as you want. Well, this book tells you that but it goes so much deeper. It has a lot of fun exercises (especially if you have a partner). Even if you just halfway follow her instructions, you'll accomplish amazing results. My confidence has skyrocketed because I had mastered the technique. Trust me, BUY THIS BOOK!
EVERY GUY SHOULD KNOW THIS SECRET!.......2006-09-14
Bought this book 11 years ago. It's so simple to learn and confidence becomes your middle name. Never be afraid of not satisfying any woman ever again!!!

This book is a great (and entertaining) reference for those looking to improve or expand their love life. DR Keesling does a wonderful job with a often frustrating topic. She does well by approaching the subject with simple knowledge and humor.

Book Description
Teresa July has led a hard life, but now she has a chance to put her train robbing past behind her. Armed with a new job as a cook to one of Philadelphia's elite families, Teresa is determined to start her life anew, and nothing––not even her boss's stuck–up (and far too handsome) son––is going to stand in her way.
Madison Nance is sick of his mother taking in women from the wrong side of the tracks, just to see them turn on her generosity. That's why it's up to him to keep a close eye on Teresa's every move. At least, that's the only logical explanation for why he can't get the young woman out of his mind.
But when a woman from Madison's past threatens Teresa's future, the two reluctant lovers must join forces is they're ever going to have a chance at happiness.

EXCELLENT!!!.......2007-09-24
I highly recommend this book. This was my first time reading anything from this author and I must say that I will now try to find any other titles that she's written. It was a hard to put down page-turner. I felt a real connection with all of the characters and felt as though I knew them all. Great read!
Wild sweet and great!.......2007-09-10
Another excellent read from Beverly Jenkins, I looked forward to Teresa's story after reading Something Like Love, good to catch up with the rest of her family and hope to read her other single brothers romance tales.
BJ is The Expert when it comes to historical African American romances.
Add this to your Jenkins collection.
Loved It!.......2007-09-01
I loved this book. I started reading this book at 9 PM and did not put the book down until I was finished at 1:45 AM. I really liked the fact that Teresa July was imperfect. The chemistry between Madison and July leaped off the pages. I also enjoy catching up with the July brothers. While this book is a sequel, it certainly can stand on its own.
I was recently introduced to Beverly Jenkins a month ago, since then I have ordered and read 7 of her books. It's so hard to even pick a favorite. "Night Song" will always have a special place in my heart; it was the ultimate love story.

Beverly Jenkins has penned another magnificent novel starring 'us' western style. Teresa July is the baby sister of a brood of bad guys and the apple don't fall far from the tree. She's introduced to us while incarcerated for robbing banks and trains and has a stroke of good luck to be able to serve the rest of her time on the east coast assisting a lady of society, who has the awesome job of taming this incorrigible rebel. Teresa and Ms. Molly decide to keep her reputation a secret from the townspeople and Ms. Molly's handsome son enters with his judgmental air. He and Teresa bump heads numerous times because of her feistiness and outspoken ways but with each bump, new awareness of an explosive chemistry surfaces and both are trying their best to avoid this union.
I'm not one that enjoys westerns but upon being initiated to Ms. Jenkins' wholesome style of writing, to say I'm hooked is an understatement!!!
Ms. Jenkins, I can only commend every piece of work that you've penned as awesome!!! I'm addicted to your books and hate to see the endings. Continue to reel us in with your tales!!!
The stuff that dreams are made of...by proxy.......2007-08-13
Why do we read these books? I read them for the fantasy. There was a time I thought I could actually have this type of relationship in real life. I guess some do...but for those that don't the occasional jaunt into the fantasy romance is refreshing, uplifting, cathartic and...orgasmic.
There was nothing perfect about the world in which this novel was written-predjudice was there, the heroine was a bank robber, the hero was a gambler nee banker. They initially do not get along at all. But opposites attract and hate is really love in disguise and they become lovers.
I have read almost every book by Beverly Jenkins and will always look for her books before I read any other, because she is first and foremost, an excellent writer. But also, because she knows and describes very well and in pleasant detail the steps in the dance of love.
It was good for me. ;-)

not for single women !.......2005-09-27
This book is basically about increasing intimacy, through sex, in a relationship. as a how to guide, it sucks. there are no actual usable pysical tips or guidelines. however if you are looking to spice up a longstanding relationship, this would suit you down to the ground.
203 ways to drive a man wild in bed.......2005-07-21
After reading the reviews I was execpting a book that was helpful and informative here and there. I've learned lots from this book. It decusses things that I wanted to know but, would talk to anyone about in million years. It's written in a sudective yet tasteful manner. No cut and dried steps, diagrams, or pictures with arrows to guide you along. Too bad! he he he
Oliva St. Claire isn't afraide get to the point or to be a little naughty too. Great Book!
Every Man Wants Every Woman to Read this Book.......2005-04-11
After reading several of another reviewer's reviews of this kind of book, my interest was piqued, so while wandering around in my local bookstore I decided to pick one up and see just what some of the girls were reading. I glanced through this very short book (only 129 pages) and all of a sudden I was embarrassed. I looked around, wondering if anybody else had seen what I'd had in hand and instantly locked onto Mrs. Doubtfire's disapproving glare. "Heh, heh," I laughed. She didn't laugh back.
I felt just like I did when I was in junior high school, buying one of those Midwood books from the local liquor store. In case you don't know what those books were, well let's just say the were written for men and were kind of steamy and graphic, some might say sleazy, others might call them dirty books.
I grew up in California, so the liquor stores didn't open till six in the AM, but that was fine by me, because that was just about when I finished my paper route, so there wouldn't be anyone around to see me buy them, just the old guy who owned the place. However, one time I went in, got a couple of my dirty books, went to the register, only to find Miss Swayze, my third period Social Studies teacher, behind the counter. Turns out her father owned the store and wasn't able to open up that morning. I was so embarrassed, especially because Miss Swayze was hot. Every guy at Bancroft Junior High fantasized about her. I felt like I'd been caught doing something really bad.
And that's how I felt holding this book under Mrs. Doubtfire's condemning glare, like a sneaky old reprobate, one of those guys who hangs around schools, sans any clothing at all, save a trench coat. I know it was completely irrational, but that's how I felt. Lickity split I picked up a couple other books, so it wouldn't look like I came in strictly for this one. The girl at the register started to check me out, running her scanner thingy over the bar codes until she got to the last book then she started to check ME out.
"Research for a novel I'm working on," I said.
"Sure," she said.
When I got home I flopped on the couch and read the book and wowza did it ever open my eyes, turned 'em into silver dollar sized, bug-eyed circles. Do girls really think about this stuff? I mean there's a chapter in there called "Oral Treats" followed by another called "The Main Course". Of course there is a lot more included in this book about how to drive a man wild in bed, but my head is still spinning and my mind is still stuck back on that "Oral Treats" chapter. Believe me, this is one book every man wants every woman to read. It gets five stars from me, would that I could give it ten.
As for Mrs. Swayze, she gave me knowing glances for the rest of the year, but she never said a word about it. Not when I bought the book, not in school, not ever. But boy those glances, I'll never forget 'em, because her smile, her eyes, those looks she gave me, they fueled many a fantasy, the best kind of fantasies a boy could ever have.

You Don't Have To Be Straight.......2004-12-31
I'm a gay man and this book was still extremely helpful. I'm so skilled now that the boys call me Fellatio Manz. This is a must-have for anyone who is 'out' to please men!
Interesting Ideas.......2004-09-23
I thought this was a good book. It had a lot of creative ideas for how to not only "drive a man wild" but to just spice up your sex life in general. Although, I should point out that some of the ideas are a little extreme... or, might be for people like me. :)
Book Description
Meet Mykonos: scurrilous madmanand voice of truth. Wild Nights presents David Deida's remarkable account of his days with the unconventional teacher who revealed to him the deeper wisdom of the erotic path to the divine. From our very first encounter to the "burden of bliss" that is his parting gift, Mykonos challenges our understanding of what makes a spiritual life. Brutally candid, he offers his teaching to anyone ready to listen, with an uncanny ability to see into the hearts and minds of his students better than they can their own. Charged with provocative scenes of unbridled passion and play, Wild Nights explodes with spiritual insights into our choice to "open as love, or close and suffer"
yogic sexual techniques including circular breathing and expanding feeling beyond the self and into the heart of a lover
and why, for some, full sexual expression is a requirement of spiritual maturation. For its honest depiction of the spiritual teacher and student relationshipand the questions it demands we ask about our own sexualityWild Nights proclaims David Deida a guiding light in the often cloudy realm of sex and spirit.

F**K.......2007-09-25
I LOVED this book and read it in a sitting. As soon as I was done I passed the book along to a friend, but now I want to read it again. And again.
'Tis not for the faint of heart, or those who are easily offended by the F-Bomb being used repeatedly and often times in the same sentence as God. This book has seriously shaken my perspective on love, spirituality, and sex.
I have more Deida on the way to me now!
Adds colour to the Deida oevre.......2007-04-12
Deida has written so many guides to emotion and spiritual growth, so it was refreshing here to get a much more colourful sequence of lessons. Though his own experiences with an intensely charismatic teacher, the book is a sequence of extraordinary anecdotes that inspire and entertain as well as teach. While I get a lot out of his other books, especially Finding God through Sex, this is a great companion book.
Destined to be a classic. This book will ravish a generation. .......2007-03-22
As shocking and transformational as the Marquis de Sade's "Philosophy of the Boudoir" and Plato's "Dialogues" rolled into one. A truly profound book which will resonate with you long after reading it, wolfed down in one sitting most likely. This feels like Kerouac's California 50 years on: the ardent yab yum enlightenment of today's dharma seekers. Refreshingly honest, open and inclusive, "Wild Nights" will chime with anybody who has wanted to pursue the ineffable truths we often encounter using sex or drugs, but rarely find words to express. This book will ravish a generation. Destined to be a classic.
shocking! excellent! .......2005-09-01
this book is one of the best i`ve ever read, and i read my share. but then i deeply respect and admire david deida, and have experienced time after time that even reading his works can open ones heart up and give taste of the deeper realm.
this book has scenes that is quite interesting, to say the least - and it is a great test to "stay open, as love" or suffer from the hearts contraction, fear and aversion.
one of my late inner fascinations is the truth that we will have to accept lifes ambiguities. rarely can one find masters and teachers like ramana maharshi, for instance, which are nothing but saintly purity. krishnamurti is an example of a wise man, strongly illuminated and full of wisdom. then, another time, he is clearly full of prejudgement and aversion. so most people would say "oh, he is so wise and beautiful" (which is true), and other would say "he is an angry and judgemental old man" (which is also true).
this books exposes clearly that one will have to accept the complexities, and trust ones inner, deepest truth.
and of course, my short review can`t make justice to the richness and variety of insights. mostly it is about the heart, about love and openness. i will soon read it again, and if you believe you can get anything out of it (without retracting into judgemental attitudes or easy generalisations) i urge you not to hesitate to find a copy. i read it in a day, still digesting!
bon apetite!
