A bit disappointed.......2007-05-13
"The little soul and the sun" was better. I guess I expected to see more experience of the Little Soul in the second book.
Amazing.......2007-05-13
I have read this to my children many times and I encourage you to do the same.
So inspirational.......2007-04-07
This book is great for children and adults alike. It provides comfort in reflecting the truth of our being and purpose here on this Earth. I highly reccommend it to anyone who is interested in the enlightened approach to spirituality.
I'd give it 10 STARS!.......2007-03-23
This book is an absolute MUST if you have children or grandchildren.
I have been exposed to Mr. Walsch's work over on over, and love it. However this book is trully written in an amazing way, that if I'd have to explain to my 3 year old where she comes from and what happend etc...I'd be lost for words! Its a MUST book together with the "Little soul and the Sun"
Teach your Children Well.......2007-02-19
I only regret one thing, that I did not have this treasure book when I rreaised my oldest children. It is a critically required perspective that all children should have to live an abundant and happy life.

Customer Reviews:
Fluff !.......2007-02-16
The author credits Michael Shaara's "Killer Angels" as being responsible for the start of his interest in the Civil War. This novel is a piece of lightweight fluff which I find difficult to read because boredom sets in quickly. Most of the book is meaningless dialogue and character's thoughts which do little to inspire the reader.
As an avid Civil War buff who has read plenty of history, both primary and secondary source material, finds enough historical inaccuracies in this book to wonder how it ever managed to find a publisher. Characters wander around the novel with no good reason. Major historical figures make an appearance with little connection to the fictional characters and the true story of the battle on Little Round Top. The author takes forever to set the scene for that struggle and the reader has to struggle with boredom to ever reach that point in the novel.
I have visited the battlefield at Gettysburg many time since my first trip at the age of 2. I have walked the field many times in many years. Eishen may have made a visit to the monument to the 20th Maine, but I wonder if he climbed Little Round Top by the route of attack by the Alabama regiments.
I had expected more mention of the other units involved in this engagement and I was sadly disappointed.
As an aside, there are enough typos and mispellings throughout the book which make it even more annoying.
Gettysburg history lesson.......2007-01-13
Thomas Eishen nails a good one. Gettysburg is perhaps the greatest single battle of the civil war in terms of how the war ended. Eishen does an excellent job in novel form to keep the reader's attention. Written similar to the style of Jeff Shaara, one will not have a hard time reading this one. It is not boring history. It is an easy and enjoyable read and will add knowledge to what you think you might know about Gettysburg. Buy it. Enjoy it.

Commendable in a lightweight sort of way.......2006-12-01
After seeing the Civil War epic Gettysburg (Widescreen Edition) when it was first released, I made a special trip cross-country to the battlefield and, like the author of COURAGE ON LITTLE ROUND TOP, stood at the monument to the 20th Maine at the left extremity of the Union line and paid silent tribute to Col. Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain and his regiment which waged there such a stalwart defense. In a contemporary world so lacking in heroes, I put the gallant Chamberlain on a modestly tall pedestal, an atypical action that even survived my subsequent reading of the man's biography, In the Hands of Providence: Joshua L. Chamberlain and the American Civil War.
Here, author Thomas Eishen strives to add a human side to the battle for Little Round Top on the second day of the Gettysburg collision by re-creating in novel format the thoughts, words, and actions of Chamberlain and one of his opponents, 2nd Lieutenant Robert Wicker of the 15th Alabama Regiment, as they may have occurred during the couple of days prior to and during the assault.
It was the fictionalization of the days prior that perhaps reduced this book in my estimation inasmuch as Chamberlain and his regiment are assigned their do-or-die position by brigade commander Col. Strong Vincent only on page 250 of this 289-page volume. So, if you're hoping for an exhaustive immersion in the struggle for the hill, forget it. Rather, the preceding pages are filled, much like GETTYSBURG the film, with protagonists' dialog and mental preoccupations that are, at best, plausible but unremarkable script-filler and, at worst, an inane look at men under arms as they swan about the countryside pre-battle. Moreover, I was singularly unimpressed with the very few maps accompanying the text. Indeed, the one showing the opposing lines on Little Round Top was not much bigger than a postage stamp and would've required the use of a magnifying glass had I cared to bother with it.
I'm at obvious odds with other 5-star reviews of COURAGE ON LITTLE ROUND TOP. Perhaps my expectations were too great. In any case, I wouldn't recommend spending the money for this title unless you're seeking a very light read for an airplane trip to Pennsylvania, in which case it's perfectly satisfactory.
Following in the footsteps of "The Killer Angels".......2006-09-02
If you have read Michael Shaara's "The Killer Angels" and Stephen Crane's "The Red Badge of Courage" you have an excellent basis to read and enjoy Thomas Eishen's novel that combines some of the aspects of both. This book features Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain, a prominent character in Shaara's novel, and Lt. Robert Wicker, who is only alluded to by Shaara.
Eishen's novel unfolds around the impending confrontation between these two men on July 2, 1863 on Little Round Top during the Battle of Gettysburg. Wicker, whose unit is the 15th Alabama, had fled the scene during a previous battle, and, like Private Henry Fleming in "The Red Badge of Courage" worries that he in fact may be a coward. Since many of the soldiers in his company are friends and relatives from back home in Alabama, his fear is that a repeat performance in battle will make him a laughingstock and he will become an embarrassment to his family members. Chamberlain, on the other hand, has to deal with his two well-intentioned but meddlesome brothers who are members of his staff.
Eishen does a fine job of relating the evolution of these events through dialogue fashioned for these characters. The run-up to the actual confrontation between Chamberlain and Wicker is an interesting perspective on the daily lives of the common soldier in camp and while on the march.
First time novelist Thomas Eishen has done a commendable job of describing these fast-paced events, and readers will find that the situation only alluded to in "The Killer Angels" takes on new meaning, and the characters involved come alive.
Ranks With the Best in Civil War Novels.......2006-07-17
Thomas Eishen's "Courage on Little Round Top" proved extemely satisfying to an avid civil war reader. Meticulous research and attention to detail brought to life the story of Union Colonel Joshua Chamberlain and his battlefield opponent, the Confederate 2nd Lieutenant Robert Wicker. Eishen's treatment of the subject showed a side of Chamberlain I had not been introduced to before and Wicker's role in this historical novel gave me a new understanding of the events that took place at Gettysburg in the Battle of Little Round Top. Though packed with historical fact, the book was an enjoyable read, a vivid glimpse of the American past. I wish I had read the book before a recent visit to the Gettysburg Battlefield. Even so, my memory (and photos) of the battle site are more real for this reading. As a real enthusiast of American Civil War History, I highly recommend this book for a pleasurable journey into the world of two memorable characters, the well-known Chamberlain and the lesser-known, though no less interesting Lt. Wicker. I look forward to more from the author.

adorable.......2006-03-31
This book is adorable.
You can try any of them and you will find that your child will be listening carefully.
On each page there is something to be found.
If it is the little lady bug that crawls up the page or the little cat or dog playing or kids interacting.
Depending on age your child will understand the text and learn acordingly.
If of young age most likely they will enjoy the colors very much and the characters and ask questions obout what they are doing.
When older they will enjoy the short message that allows them to learn about the wonderful things god does for us and the children.
IT is a must have and a great introduction for your child to god and his message and how he guides the children.
The drawing obviously are darling and clear and so is the message.
THE ONE THING I WAS DISAPPOINTED in .. it said it is a hardcover book and so it is.
But it is not like the other books all pages are hard.
It has regular pages to read.
It somehow isn't the same as the other ones and little hands are not always that gentle.
So that is my down.
But you can not go wrong with any of these and they make great gifts.
Try God loves me and Thank you god..
All of them are cute and great and work ,no matter what your religion.
There are no other messages in there then god's love alone and that is a message that all of us are trying to teach our children.
Isn't it?
A must have book.......2001-10-28
My daughter loves these books. The pictures
really capture her attention and I love
the message of God's love in them. Also check
out"What about Heaven".

It's always unnerving to read about young teenagers killing (in this case) a 12-year-old, but what's striking about this story is how little time it took for the relationships to escalate into violence. Shanda Sharer started at a new school in the fall of 1991, and she was murdered on January 11, 1992. Another feature of interest is the synergism between two personalities involved in the murder: one who had the passion to hate the victim, and the other who had the absence of feeling to be able to kill without remorse. Michael Quinlan has an engaging, suspenseful style and brings out some important issues surrounding increased violence among teenagers. The book is somewhat marred, though, by his limited knowledge of psychiatry, and by his occasional irrelevant remarks about normal teen fascinations (rock music, occult literature).
For another viewpoint on this same crime, see Cruel Sacrifice by Aphrodite Jones.

Chilling!.......2006-04-29
I read Little Lost Angel a few years ago and it is truly the most horrifying story I have ever read. Unfortunately I live just 150 miles away from Madison so I got first hand information on this case.
And Hope Rippey just got out of jail today. This girl (and I put that in very loose terms) poured gasoline over a helpless 12 year old child and sprayed Windex over her wounds. These four abominations don't deserve the same considerations of other humans. And of all things I saw a picture of [...] Toni Lawerence smiling. (Sorry[...]is the kindest word I have for these girls. You don't want to hear the rest.) She lost her right to ever smile or be happy for the rest of her rotten life. If she spends the rest of her life in sack cloth, doing good deeds for the rest of humanity and crying over her part in this vile act she might find atonement. Maybe.
In 1989 my best friends brother died of leukemia at age 15 and ripped his entire family to shreds but as heartbreaking as it was it's at least believable. Shanda Sharer's murder defies all
belief. I know she and David are with God and I can see them running through heaven holding hands. That won't happen to these pieces of filth. May they know no peace for the rest of their miserable lives. I don't want to be any of them on Judgement Day.

Heart wrenching.......2005-04-30
I cried during much of this book, I was horrified beyond belief and it made me sick to my stomach to think of what this poor girl went through, my sister was murdered in 2002 and shoved into a trunk, so I know the pain and anger her family feels and will always feel, my heart goes out to her friends and family.
This is STILL a heartbreaking story!.......2005-04-27
This is a really well written book. I was sorry to learn that the author has since passed away from brain cancer. My sympathies to his family & friends!
I was 14 when this horrific brutal murder took place, and living in Kentucky, about 30 miles south of Louisville. I think it is truely SAD that ALL 4 of these girls did NOT get the DEATH PENALTY for what they did to this beautiful little girl! I couldn't then, and still can't imagine doing something like that to another human being! Now that I am 28 and a mother of a little girl, I only pray that the Lord above continues to give Shanda's parents, friends, and loved ones the strength to get through each day! I wish Toni Lawrence had NEVER again seen the light of day! I think these girls should NEVER be released from prison! I don't care if they were young, I was young once too, and I would NEVER think of doing something like this, and YES, even if I found myself in a similar situation, I WOULD have found help for Shanda, myself, & the other girls involved! May each of those girls live with the same pain that Shanda felt EVERY SINGLE DAY FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm sorry for your loss.......2004-05-12
I live in Indiana. I read the book when I was probably about 12 or 13 years old. And for me to read that was just horrifying I just recently read it again and cried alot during it. It is so sad to have to read about that. I didn't personally know her but one of my friends did. I live in Clark County and I grew up in New Albany, Clarksville, Jeffersonville, and all the surrounding areas. I was surprised to hear that Toni got out. I hope the rest of them rot in prison. They will never know how much heartache they have caused Shanda's family. The Sharer family- if you read this ever know that I am truly sorry for you loss and may Shanda rest in peace.
good book. I think it says it all well........2004-05-08
The people that did that to Shanda are sorry excuses for human beings. Every last one of them. I don't care that 2 of them didn't actually do anything to her & just sit in the car or whatever. They are just as guilty as the other 2.They should all burn in hell.Someone should take them to a field & do they same to them that they did to her. They will be never know the pain that they caused Shanda & her family. All I can say is you reap what you sow. It will come back to get them. They will pay for this. God does things his own way & thankfully he doesn't forget. Their time will come at judgement day & then Shanda can rest peacefully.

enlightning affirmations.......2006-12-08
I love these cards! They are beautifully written. each one is an affirmation but with a deeper more spiritual meaning that you can interpret as you wish.
I use them everyday to help answer questions, reinforce decisions and help with creative blocks. I find that the answers these cards give me to varied questions enlightning and quite uncanny! I would recommend these cards to anyone who is looking for inner clarity or spiritual guidance.
Angels Offer Divine Guidance.......2006-08-07
This deck of angel cards allows you to look to the angels every day for divine guidance and grace. When my sister first bought me this deck, I felt skeptical ... then, as I used the cards on a daily basis, I began to see how eerily "right on" they were. Whatever problem I found myself facing at any particular time, I would ultimately pick the angel card that was EXACTLY perfect for me. To pick a card, I close my eyes and shuffle the deck. Then I use my left hand (because it's closest to my heart) to select a card. As I pick, I ask the angels for the message they most want to send my way. And sure enough, it's EXACTLY the message/lesson I need. It's always good to thank the angels afterward, because the universe (including angels) appreciates and rewards gratitude. As you use these cards for a while, you'll be amazed at how clearly and easily the angels can communicate with us -- if we only take the time/energy to listen. These cards inspired me to learn more about the angel guidance that's available here on earth, and I recently purchased a great book called "Ask your Angels" which offers an overview of angels recorded throughout the world in a variety of religions and cultures. This book also provides a step-by-step on how to meet your personal guardian angels. So ... if you're at all interested in learning more about angels ... I highly recommend both of these resources.

Emulate their use of materials but not their compositions.......2005-05-29
This book has pros and cons.
Pros:
There are many many collages illustrated in this book.
The collages are made with a suprising variety of materials, many of which I had never seen, or never considered using in a collage. The combinations of varied elements give the collages rich texture.
The photos of the projects are high quality.
A few of the collages are beautiful.
The collages contain interesting use of overlapping.
Cons:
Most of the collages have the same kind of layout - casually arranged elements strewn at odd angles with lots of overlapping.
In most of the compositions, the intesting mix of textures doesn't quite compensate for lack of a strong center of interest.
