Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Cat's Cradle, one of Vonnegut's most entertaining novels, is filled with scientists and G-men and even ordinary folks caught up in the game. These assorted characters chase each other around in search of the world's most important and dangerous substance, a new form of ice that freezes at room temperature. At one time, this novel could probably be found on the bookshelf of every college kid in America; it's still a fabulous read and a great place to start if you're young enough to have missed the first Vonnegut craze.
Book Description
Published in 1963, Cat?s Cradle showcased Kurt Vonnegut?s accomplishments both as a satirist and an artist. Some of the most respected criticism on the novel is collected in this volume. Subjects covered include the private person as public figure, Bokonomism as a structure of ironies, and the playful genesis and dark revelation in the novel.
The title, Kurt Vonnegut's Cat's Cradle, part of Chelsea House Publishers' Modern Critical Interpretations series, presents the most important 20th-century criticism on Kurt Vonnegut's Cat's Cradle through extracts of critical essays by well-known literary critics. This collection of criticism also features a short biography on Kurt Vonnegut, a chronology of the author's life, and an introductory essay written by Harold Bloom, Sterling Professor of the Humanities, Yale University.
Download Description
Cat's Cradle travels from the home turf of Vonnegut's imagination, Ilium, N.Y. to a Caribbean banana republic where an illicit religion called Bokononism is practiced, as a sense of doom (in the form of ice-nine) overtakes mankind.
Customer Reviews:
Interesting and ludicrous........2007-09-18
Worth the read, particularly if you want to "try" Vonnegut. I did this for a book club and it worked quite well since there are infinite interpretations to pretty much every word of Vonnegut. It's hard to say what it's about other than it's a great outlook on apocalypse.
Funny, intriguing, very clever .......2007-09-18
This was my first Vonnegut book, and I had really high expectations for this book. I was not disappointed, not in the least. The irony, the strangeness (especially in the dialogue), the characters, the suspense, the ending, and most importantly, the humor, were superb. I found myself laughing out loud on several occasions. Vonnegut's irreverent take on religion, government, sex, war, and every other topic he takes on in the novel is refreshing, and the history and principles of Bokonon (the fictitious religion featured in the book) he derives through the course of the story added a lot of comic relief as well as interesting perspective on common religious thinking. Tis a shame I never enjoyed the man's work while he was still with us. I certainly intend to read more of his work in the future.
No Title.......2007-08-26
Cats Cradle was a book I had to read over my summer break for my high school honors english class, and orgionaly, I was really reluctant to read it. But, after the first 100 pages, it started to grab my attention.
Cat' Cradle is a story of a man that wishes to write a book about the father of the Atom bomb(it's a fictonal person) and ends up finding out about some of his 'other' inventions(not some mutant freak). Like I said origonaly, the first half or so of the book loses me. I only got interested in it when the protagonist got on the plane midway through the book.
In some ways, people could find this novel contrivesal, because the main religon(Bokonon) mimics the eairly Christians death by the cross, and that man is going to far with science that is harful to us, but only if your trying to see that like I was. It's a fine book all in all, but it's somewhat boring at first, and his humor isent really that great, in fact, I only saw it once or twice. But then agian, I'm just a high school sophmore trying to disect it to find 'the inner meaning' so, in another 10 years I'll probably enjoy reading it.
As bad as it gets.......2007-08-07
This book is a total disappointment. One of the worst books I have ever read. His "humor" is on idiotic level and the book in general is schizophrenic. Only thing Vonnegut achieved is to annoy me; this is the first book in my life that I threw into the garbage.
A must for Vonnegut fans.......2007-08-07
An easy read that led to Vonnegut's Anthropology B.A. The story evokes questions regarding mankind's ignorance when faced with scientific achievement.
Book Description
What Is My Cat Thinking? is essential for learning to respond to your cat's changing needs. Did you ever wonder why she licks her paws, scratches the furniture or brings dead animals into the house? This book lifts the lid on cat behavior and helps you communicate more effectively with your pet. Includes questions and answer sections and specially commissioned photography.
Customer Reviews:
Informative about a cat's body language.......2007-07-21
This was good if you want to have a basic understanding of what your cat's body movements mean and how they translate to how they are feeling. I recommend to read it with your children as there are many good pictures and it will better help them understand when to pet the cat and when to let it alone!
Not informative.......2007-07-06
I bought this after reading other reviews, but I was extremely disapponted in this book. The title is very misleading. I've had cats for years and wanted to learn more about their behavior and the differnt types of meows. This book does NOT do this. It's very basic and they write about behavior most children could figure out after being around their cat for a while. It mostly addresses cats behavior with other cats which an idiot can figure out without having to read about it. Not worth the money.
What is My Cat Thinking.......2007-03-31
An excellent primer for cat owning beginners and pros. The photos clearly illustrate the acompanying text. A wonderful addition to any cat companion's library and a must for beginners!
Not a Bad Little Book!.......2005-12-12
The author seems to know her stuff.
The book has an excellent lay out. Lots of pictures, easy to navigate, wonderful index, sort of like a FAQ on cat behavior.
Everyone from the novice to experienced cat owner is likely to learn something about the subject.
The subject itself is a little bland. Before you cat lovers all get upset about this remark, let me explain. According to Bailey the majority of cat behavior is rather simple, basic needs for safety, exploration, food, etc. Cat behavior is also rather simple: tail up or down, rub off scent, etc. This makes portions of the book repetitious. This is not a complaint. It is better to be truthful and a little bland than to invent a bunch of human response and lay those on the cat.
All in all it's a good book and worth owning. Cat owners won't be disappointed.
Superb Cat Info ! ! ! ! !.......2004-04-16
This book was wonderful - I have had cats all of my life and have read many books and articles regarding them - but this one did answer a lot of questions.
Easy reading, great captions and lovely photographs !

Customer Reviews:
Indispensable for anyone serious about feline health issues........2006-07-22
If you're serious enough about feline health issues to have clicked on the title of this book, BUY IT. NOW. (Then find out if your vet already has a copy, and if s/he doesn't, invest in another copy for your vet. Seriously.)
If it's absolutely impossible for you to afford the second (2002) edition, pick up a copy of the first (1998, I think) edition. Although it's always important with medical stuff to get current info, even the first edition will leave you FAR more knowledgeable and up-to-date about feline health issues than the vast majority of vets (who are often too busy to keep up with current info and typically more focused on dogs, as well). (No book -- including this one -- can begin to take the place of a good vet; but this book will equip you to tell the difference between a good cat vet who knows his/her stuff, and a mediocre vet with a good bedside manner.)
The Pill Book Guide to Medications for Your Dog and Cat is another very good book for the serious cat lover. (Though it's *desperately* overdue for a new edition. Desperately. But still very useful.)
But, back to the point at hand: BUY THE FELINE PATIENT. Your cat(s) need you to.
-- Michelle (Siamese Rescue Northwest)
Cat Guardians Should Consider this Reference Book.......2005-08-12
This book provides excellent insight into feline symptoms. While it uses medical terminology, it's the same terminology you'll see on the your pet's veterinarian visit records, tests, and even in other feline health books. It describes cat symptoms and indicates possible causes. It recommends courses of investigation and explains what to do based upon the results. It also weighs different diagnostic approaches, e.g., x-rays vs. ultrasound.
This information is useful for laypersons who wish to be an even better healthcare advocate for their pet. For example, it explains when and why it's important to pay attention to sneezing: when it occurs in cats aged six or less it is likely due to a viral or bacterial infection, while in cats over 10 years it is likely due to neoplasia (cancer).
I'd like to be a better pet guardian in future, which is why I bought this book. Unfortunately, my vet thought my chronically sneezing 13-year-old cat had simply developed allergies - even after I took her in twice as I was concerned. He was wrong. If I'd had this book to consult, I'd have known to press for additional testing.
All in all, this book is excellent to have on the bookshelves - so that it's there when needed. Cats do not present with the same symptoms as dogs. They often conceal that they are in pain. Once you've been through a cat with illness, I think it will help you to recognize it in other cats.
One other tip that I didn't find in this book - if your cat's vocalization habits change - pay attention. According to material I've seen published by the SPCA, and personal experience, this is a likely indication that the cat is in pain. The SPCA document also indicated that medical attention is likely required most urgently by the time a cat vocalizes about it. In fact, by the time they vocalize, it's likely the disease is significantly advanced. Better to be alert for other symptoms and signs.
Another resource that I'd recommend that is directed to the layperson is "The Cornell Books of Cats: The Comprehensive and Authoritative Medical Reference for Every Cat and Kitten" by Mordecai Siegal. It offers excellent information on how to recognize when an animal is in pain. The signs are subtle, e.g., cats will often simply restrict movement in answer to pain. My criticism of this book is that it glosses over scary subjects such as cancer, and as I see it, encourages readers to think all is well and further investigation isn't necessary.
Essential volume for the household that includes cats.......1999-07-30
I can't recommend "The Feline Patient" highly enough. The information in this book has saved the lives of two of my cats. Soon after I bought this book, my 15-year-old Maine Coon cat became very ill, was diagnosed with diabetes, yet the ever-increasing doses of insulin that were prescribed didn't seem to improve his condition. The more insulin he was given, the higher his glucose level became. Concerned, I began to research the problem on my own, using this book, and hypothesized that my cat had not only diabetes, but also chronic pancreatitis, and that he was not only unable to produce sufficient insulin, but was also unable to effectively use the insulin he was given. Based upon the information in this book, I requested that several other diagnostic tests be performed. These tests confirmed my hypotheses, my cat's treatment has been revised, and I now look forward to more happy months and years with him.
While grooming my ten-year-old Cymric, I felt some very small, hard bumps in her back. These were approximately the size of an ordinary matchhead. Although they were very, very small, they were painful, and she cried when I touched them, even lightly. From having read this book, I knew that any unexplained bump or lump beneath the surface of a cat's skin should be evaluated by a veterinarian immediately. My cat has required two surgeries, but thanks to early detection and treatment, her prognosis is far better than it would otherwise have been.
"The Feline Patient" was written for veterinary practitioners, so the lay person will find the vocabulary challenging, and will probably require a good veterinary dictionary as a companion to this book. Nevertheless, the person who loves and cares for feline family members will find that the benefits greatly outweigh that challenge.
Thank you, Amazon.com, for making this book available to the general public!

Book Description
At last, a Bold New Theory in the annals of human and animal communication -- a pioneering milestone of enormous scientific importance.
How to Speak Cat is the ultimate, comprehensive and authoritative guide to communicating with your cat in your cat's own language. Alexandra Sellers (who has mastered seven human languages) studied the language of Cat for many, many years and ultimately uncovered its secrets. Here, for the first time, this language -- complete with extensive vocabulary and proper grammar -- is revealed.
How to Speak Cat is the perfect primer for the serious beginner. In a short time, a devoted human can learn the basics of Cat -- including proper diction and pronunciation -- and be well on the way to full communication with felines, at the same time respecting them for what they are: a superior species.

What a wonderful approach!!!!!.......2002-08-28
Alexandra Sellers has devoted most of her life to deciphering the mysterious and complicated cat language that - until now - only those mysterious felines have been able to use.
I am heartbroken at a certain review in which one user mentions "200 pages of garbage", "stupid pronunciation guide", and conveys a feeling of cats being animals with no language and a book by a fruitcake who wants money.
This is the wrong approach to this book. I have tested Sellers' theories by giving phrases to my cats. Their ears perk up, they always respond, and I know they understand. If you are a firm believer, as am I, that cats deserve to have their mysterious language recognized, I recommend this book over any.
I got it for X-mas and I hope to become fluent. I guarantee you will find familiar cat phrases in a couple of days. While the idea of a "cat language" seems stupid to some, and the notion that animals can speak may seem outrageous to you, cat lovers know that these creatures have a language not until a few years ago deciphered by the author.
But Sellers, through many, many, many, many, many years of research has found patterns that should not be undermined as "stupid" or "nonsense". If you have faith in human-to-feline communication, you cannot give into this cynicism, bigotry and criticism of a woman's lifetime work. She has written other books on Cat, and has studied 7 major human languages.
So why would we be so much more critical of her than of the Horse Whisperer? She, like he, has worked very hard and very long, not to create 200 pages of garbage, an elaborate joke, but to give what she has learned about Cat to the world.
Bottom line: if you don't give in to the jaded cynicism of people who say cats are stupid and can't talk, please, please, please consider buying How to Speak Cat. You will not be disappointed.
Was this for real?.......2001-09-07
I was introduced to this book while vacationing in London. I saw Sellers on some tv show 'talking' to a cat. Since I have 5 cats in my apartment, I found her claim she had learned Cat very interesting.
Upon embarking on this book, I had to wonder "Is she serious?!?!" Though I enjoyed the fact that there might actually be a Cat language, this book had me in hysterics. Cat lullabys, Cat apologies, Cat lies, a Cat God? Come on!
Sure, I tried it out on each of the cats in my life and each time I was met with a look that said, "What? Have you gone completely crazy?!?!"

Finally! A comprehensive compilation of what we knew all along - that a cat's language is as unique and complex as their "personalities". Kudos to Sellers for breaking the code and allowing us to communicate more effectively with our beloved feline friends. Would have given the book 5 stars, if Sellers had dealt with the section on the subordinate connector more thoroughly. But still a great effort overall.

Review of the U.K. edition published in SOAS Magazine.......1998-07-22
In England an expanded version of this book was published by Bellew Publishing under the title SPOKEN CAT AND RELEVANT FACTORS IN WORLDVIEW. This is a review we published recently.
Anyone who has more than a passing acquaintance with cats will quickly recognise the basic premise of this book -- the ironic counterpoint between, on the one hand, the anthropomorphising tendency to bestow human thoughts and emotions on animals which makes domestic pets such a comfort to those humans whose need for companionship finds fulfilment in a small, manageable and relatively undemanding form, and, on the other, the lurking paranoia which suggests that the balance of power is in fact entirely the other way, that the relationship exists entirely for the convenience of the animal, whose aim is to train the owner in the provision of its wants -- food, shelter, attention, exercise.
To say that Alexandra Sellers adopts the paranoia theory would be an absurdly simplistic view of a bo! ok which has resonances going far beyond the suggestion that, as far as feline pets are concerned, we are not the owners but the owned. SPOKEN CAT follows with rigorous correctness the format of a language primer -- the kind which readers of a certain age will recognise as having accompanied their first stumbling attempts to master French or German. Section one contains nine grammar lessons built around everyday situations, headed by a short narrative for study and accompanied by the requisite vocabulary. Section two concerns tonality -- Cat is primarily a tonal language, with tonal patterns one of the main carriers of meaning. Sections three and four -- supporting the notion that no language can be properly mastered without an understanding of the culture of its native speakers -- deal first with Cat myths and legends, and second, in the essay `Einstein's Cat', with the influence, both overt and covert which cats have had on human civilisation throughout its history. The tex! t is comprehensively footnoted and illustrated with items w! hich show an impressive range of erudition -- perhaps less surprising when one knows that the author's studies at SOAS brought her a First Class degree in Persian (the language, that is) and Religious Studies.
Supporters of the `pet as human companion' theory will see in the book the answer to their prayers -- a book which will allow them to enter into meaningful converse with their adored feline friends. Those who subscribe to the paranoia view will find in it confirmation of their worst fears -- proof, finally, that we are not masters of our destiny, Cats are. Those who can read it with a little more detachment will find far more valuable insights, into the limitations of the academic method, the nature of language, and the very structure of human thought. To reveal more would be to give the game away; suffice it to say that the book is multi-faceted, multi- levelled, and full of the kind of humour which turns one's thinking upside down. Buy it, enjoy it, and recommend it ! to your friends.
A witty, fun look at cats and their foibles........1998-07-10
A delightful book which can be enjoyed on a variety of levels: as a book for cat lovers, poking gentle fun at our beloved felines for their attitudes( which every cat 'owner' will instantly recognize); as a spoof of a scholarly research paper presenting new information, carefully collected and collated and painstakingly reported; or as a grammar book on Cat language - the vocabulary consisting only of words important, of course, to cats, such as 'pretty', 'lonely', 'hungry', 'food', and, most important, 'Higher Being', which all cat lovers will recognize as the obvious and only way to refer to a 'Cat Presence.' A few important things we learn about the cat language - there are no pronouns distinguishing 'you', 'he', 'she', 'it', etc., simply one word for Cat and one for Non-Cat; and there is no possessive word assigning ownership to any other being than a cat, the idea of this being 'offensive' to cats. The book is full of advice for practicing the language on your cat - 'your attitude should be humble', and 'offer tidbits when the cat responds to your attempts to communicate.' My cat-loving family like to pick this book up, find choice bits, and read them aloud for the amusement of guests and family. A great gift book for any cat lover.

Outstanding Mini-Encyclopedia of Pet First Aid.......2006-07-11
There is so much useful information in just this one volume. What's more, there is a symptom finder, allowing a quick overview of possible causes of given symptoms among dogs and cats. There are two tables of poison hazards, including one which tells what human medications should never be given to cats (although veterinarians advise that no human medications should ever be given to animals without checking with them). The animal conditions that can be helped by first aid range from life-threatening situations to such things as constipation in cats. There are many helpful diagrams. One of them shows how to make a homemade Elizabethan collar and another one shows how to restrain a seriously-injured animal for the trip to the vet.
Worth every penny!.......2004-02-07
Quick story: A few months ago I was driving and saw a dog running beside the road and when I was only a few feet from him, he was struck by a car. I rushed him to the vet hospital but sadly, he passed away. I went straight to the book store and picked up this book on pet first aid, learned about treating a pet who is going into shock and now keep an animal first aid kit,
blanket and copy of this book in the trunk of my car. This was the only book I could find that addressed the issue of helping an animal who is struck by a car. It is such important information and I was thankful to find it.
