eu gostaria de saber mais sobre o seguinte livro: Fitzpatrick's Dermatology in General Medicine by Irwin M. Freedberg (Editor), Thomas B. Fitzpatrick (Editor) Our Price: $55.00
(i'd like know something else about this book)

The WORST.......2007-09-22
I would say this book was a BIG waste of my money...yes it is well organized and all that BUT it was boring..other books written about the law of attraction are much better...clearer..easier to understand...
oh my god.......2007-05-19
This is such an easy read it is like having a conversation with someone who is telling you things in a straight forward way. The information in this is amazing and with the cd's I bought it has made such an AHA moment on every page.
As simple as it can get.......2007-05-13
Clear, concise, and to the point. Very well organized, and simple to understand. One of the better books on this subject. Definitely a keeper!
Insightful and Timely.......2007-03-20
Professional Dreamer fits pefectly with our new realization of the power of thought. Using Ghalil's six steps, you can learn how to master your thought processes and enjoy the benefits of the law of attraction. this book espouses similar ideas to The Secret and The Law of Attraction, two current bestsellers.
For more information on achieving financial wealth and applying principles from the law of attraction, check out "The 17 Principles of creating Wealth," by Phillip Collinsworth.
Works if You Work It.......2007-03-12
I never tire of books with this message. I long discovered repetition is key to learning and I enjoy the different slants each writer brings to "conscious creation," the "law of attraction or whatever the catch phrase of the day is.
This book makes a treasured addition to my manifestation library.
Those who vibrate to the message of Rhonda Byrne and company's "The Secret"
will also enjoy this book.
Some of the most powerful parts of Professional Dreamer for me were the affirmations that began each chapter. Those alone were life affirming. I enjoyed the typeset used in the book (easy on over-forty something eyes) and the experience of reading it was so precious I dragged it out two weeks because I didn't want it to end. I think of this book as permission to be as powerful and connected as we truly are.
Read, absorb it, and take inspired action.
Namaste.

"Many of our most debilitating diseases can be traced to an inflammatory cause. The program Jack Challem outlines in The Inflammation Syndrome is a great first step in ridding your body of this deadly problem."
–Fred Pescatore, M.D., author of Thin for Good, The Allergy and Asthma Cure, and The Hamptons Diet

Customer Reviews:
The Best so far.......2007-08-27
I have studied nutrition for 40 years and this brings it all together. It is the best book on the subject of the four that I have read. Unfortunately, it does not mention that FARMED salmon usually contains 5 to 7 times the harmful fatty acids that the same amount of wild salmon has, and that flax seed is not a good substitute for omega-3 fish oil, because humans cannot convert it efficiently. Mice and fish can and that had not been taken into accoount until recently.
Review of Challem's The Inflammation Syndrome.......2007-06-27
In my view, even his trademarking of phrases does not distract from his comprehension of nutrition biology. Howwever, his review of supplements reminds me of the writing of automotive columnists. There are few commercial products to which he is opposed. This is a useful and well written book. I'd also highly recommend Stop Inflammation Now! by Dr Richard M. Fleming. I'd avoid the book entitled The Anti-Inflammation Diet and Recipe Book by Jessica K. Black. I have no problem with her N.D. credentials, but question her biases and abandonment of scientific method to support her assertions.
Inflammation Syndrome by Jack Chellam.......2007-06-22
Jack Chellam's "Inflammation Syndrome" is one of the best books on diet I've read. The author focuses on the discovery that most diseases start with an inflammatory process and emphasizes how certain foods cause inflammation in your body. Mr. Chellam discusses many diseases such as cancer, allergies, diabetes, obesity, sports injuries and depression to name a few. "The Inflammation Syndrome" helps the reader rediscover the way humans ate prior to the agricultural boom and mass production of so called "food items" that have led to many diseases we have today. Each chapter is filled with helpful information that can help direct oneself to a better life diet.
The anti-inflammatory diet outlined in the "Inflammation Syndrome" has reversed a chronic digestive problem I've suffered with all my life. I was first attracted to Jack Chellam's book because he discusses that most vegetable oils (corn, soybean, safflower etc) can cause inflammation and the frying of them is a double-wammy. The author discusses proper diet, anti-inflammatory supplements, and the side effects of some anti-inflammatory medications. For example, aspirin is known to cause permanent cartilage deterioration in the joints.
The "Inflammation Syndrome" is filled with useful information and is a must read.
View of another nutrition writer.......2007-04-12
Inflammation is an important topic, and until recently, badly neglected by the medical community. Now there are too many books adding to the prattle by those who know too little. This one stands out as comprehensive and easily understandable. Jack Challem does better than I do in HONEST NUTRITION.
Informative.......2007-02-23
I enjoyed this book and would recomend this highly to anyone who is interested in improving the quality of their health.
Book Description
The classic internal medicine manual for students and residents! This handy guide addresses physical examination techniques and procedures while providing a catalog of clinical findings resulting from the physical examination. Thoroughly reorganized, the Eighth Edition of DeGowin’s Diagnostic Examination features a more user-friendly, easy-access format than previous editions.
Customer Reviews:
Carpal Navicular = Scaphoid.......2007-07-12
I can understand why Sonia said what she did, as I have seen "scaphoid" used more often. However, "navicular" is not wrong. Per Gray's Anatomy etc., this most commonly fractured wrist bone is indeed sometimes referred to as "navicular" or "carpal navicular" in the literature. I do not understand why she feels the book is "riddled with errors". If so, I'd like them pointed out or be referred to errata for it. It's a thorough, highly educational but portable resource.
Riddled with mistakes!.......2007-03-19
I was surprised at the number of mistakes in the book. For example, the wrist diagram (and text) mislabeled the scaphoid bone as the navicular bone. Now this may seem like a little mistake, but the scaphoid is the bone most often fractured in the wrist. Just try telling your attending that you patient fractured their navicular bone... he or she will laugh at you! Any undergrad human anatomy student should catch this mistake! I was hoping the physical exams were more complete. Some common exams were left out of the book. I concur with the reviewer that Bates or Mosby should be used first. This way, you won't look stupid in front of an attending.
DeGowin's Diagnostic Examination.......2007-02-16
This book is a good resource. It was recommended to me by NP.
thanks
A "Must Have".......2006-09-30
This is a great reference book to have in your library. I use it almost every day. Very well organized and complete.
Must have for physician.......2006-09-26
This was my preferred physical exam test. Use Bates as a quick intro, then use DeGowin to understand the physiology and learn the eponyms. If you read this, you can definately impress on internal medicine rounds. Classic classic classic. The next book to get would be Sapira's. After you read that, you'll be the "Classic" physician with superb diagnostic skills.
DeGowin isn't for everyone though, so remember....When Degowin gets tough, the tough master Bate's.

Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Customer Reviews:
Horribly out of date now.......2007-04-17
This book may have been okay when it was published but using it as a text in 2007 is a big mistake my instructor really regrets. There are many other guides that are lower in price and have more concise and up to date information available. Do not waste your time with this one. Many of the descriptions are ambiguous and hard to follow.
Most used textbook during my residencies!.......2004-02-06
This was an invaluable book that I only glanced at a few times during dental school, but during both my hospital based-general practice residency and pediatric residency was my constant guide. It provides both medical and dental management for most encountered problems that patients present with and has lots of great quick reference tables!
Excellent reference for dental practitioners.......2003-07-15
This text has become the standard reference and source of definitive information for dental management of medically compromised patients. It serves as the textbook for Oral Medicine in many dental schools and offers practitioners valuable insight into care for acutely and chronically ill patients.
A must read for dental professionals to update vital info!.......1998-03-26
Every working and instructing dental professional should readthis text concerning medically compromised patients. It updates, aswell as reviews, the important topics that are seen every day in private practice. Especially important is the areas of TB, HIV, and diabetes, although recent information may need to be added by the practioner (check out internet sites for these). Introductory tables are a must for reference in a clinical situation. I have used it a reference text in my clinical practice and in my continuing education courses.

Book Description
Tongue diagnosis is a vital instrument used in Chinese medicine both for assessing the current health of a patient and providing a basis for prognosis. It also informs the practitioner about the underlying strength or weakness of the patient's constitution.
This atlas contains over 320 color photographs of tongues seen in a Western clinic. The photographs provide a graphic representation of a wide variety of common disorders. Each photograph is accompanied by a description of the significant features of the tongue, the corresponding Chinese diagnosis for each such feature, accompanying symptoms, Western diagnosis, and pertinent background information.
The presentation of the tongues is organized according to the nature of the underlying disharmony: Lung, Spleen-Stomach, Kidney, Heart, Liver. Other chapters focus on particular aspects of the tongue, such as pale tongues, cracked tongues, special coating, as well as those associated with heat disorders and blood stasis. The text is interspersed with many full case histories that describe aspects that are not visible on the tongue alone.
A final chapter surveys several cases which reflect how the tongue changed over the course of treatment, with before and after photographs. This systematic presentation provides the student and practitioner of Chinese medicine with a much deeper appreciation for the methodology of tongue diagnosis in Chinese medicine.
An extensive and detailed index provides access to virtually every aspect of the hundreds of tongues presented in this atlas, and their interrelationships.

Atlas of Chinese Tongue Diagnosis.......2007-01-09
Absolutely fabulous! The best glossy photos of diagnostic tongues I've seen! Excellent case studies, too. Bravo! This book will be a treasure in my professional library.
Atlas of Chinese Tongue Diagnosis Volume 1.......2005-08-03
As a medical professional, I have an interest in what works to bring health to the system. At times, alternative medicines when appropriately applied, in the hands of the right people, ones trained in health care and disease, can offer stimulating results. But the question of how to obtain reliable material to diagnose and treat a disease remains a current issue. This book helps bridge the gap between Chinese diagnostics and the Western approach to disease. Atlas of Chinese Tongue Diagnosis provides visual illustrations of various ailments, mapped outwardly on the tongue, and includes written descriptions and symptoms. When applicable, it correlates the topography of the tongue to Western disease. However, the book is not all inclusive. It lacks treatment. I would suggest a companion, Radiant Health by Ron Teeguarden. Teeguarden's work covers portions of the ancient Chinese art of health and offers a treatment program designed to correct deficencies and disturbances in Qi. The two together provide a reliable source for a medical professional to understand and apply the basics in Chinese medicine. I highly rate this book when accompanied with Teeguarden's.
Excellent atlas of tongue diagnosis.......2003-07-19
This is an excellent book for anyone interested in Chinese tongue diagnosis. The book is divided into sections according to pattern (Kidney disharmonies, Stomach and Spleen disharmonies, etc). Each section contains approximately 30 full-color, well-photographed tongues representing the pattern. This makes it easy to see the range of tongue signs for each pattern. Also, the description of the tongue, the patient's symptoms, Western diagnosis and Chinese diagnosis are printed next to the photo of the tongue for easy reference. (You don't have to flip back and forth between the text pages and the color plates, as in Maciocia's Tongue Diagnosis in Chinese Medicine.) This book isn't cheap, but the quality of the photographs and the clear description of the tongues makes it a very worthwile investment.
Book Description
Examination of the tongue, like the pulse, is one of the principal diagnostic methods in traditional Chinese medicine. This book--newly revised in 1995--systematically describes each of the primary characteristics of the tongue (body color, shape and coating) and their significance in the clinic. It traces the historical development of tongue diagnosis and its relationship to externally- contracted disorders and the eight principals.
Featured in this revised edition are 59 color plates and accompanying case histories from the author's own practice. Other aspects of tongue diagnosis newly described in this edition include the integration of tongue and pulse diagnosis; the use of the tongue in diagnosing emotional problems; tongue diagnosis and herbal treatment; the tongue in prognosis; and special considerations regarding tongue diagnosis in children.

Excellent!.......2007-03-12
A really useful book, with very good plates of tongues. Recommended for all TCM practitioners.
Always learning something new.......2007-01-06
Helpful information as an adjunct to conventional Western medicine diagnostic tools.
Could have used better pictures.......2005-01-07
The book is a pretty good introduction to tongue diagnosis. It could have been more exhaustive, though.
My chief complaint, however, is that the 50 or so color plates designed to show various phenomena are based on actual case studies where the subjects were (as is usually the case in Chinese medicine) suffering from any number of various effects. In other words, I would have preferred to see a completely normal tongue except for some jagged marks on the sides which signify spleen chi deficiency. Then I would know what spleen chi deficiency looks like on the tongue. But when the book talks about spleen chi deficiency, there is no picture. The pictures come in the end, and there some of the tongues manifest jagged marks on the side along with countless other shapes, textures, and discolorations, and I am never really sure what is what. And I am still not sure what a 'normal' tongue looks like.
But the subject is exciting, though. Most of my reviews are written about religious or linguistic subjects, and I am sure a lot of the people who read them are religious or intellectual and scoff at such subjects as tongue diagnosis in ancient Asian folk medicine. But keeping in mind that the tongue is essentially a bundle of nerves that runs right down the center of the body, and, being the governor of one of the body's five senses, plugs directly into the brain in a very significant way. After reading this book and seeing these 50 or so color plates, I am ASTOUNDED at the differences found from one tongue and the next, and do not at all doubt that the many shapes, colors, sizes, and conditions of people's tongues does have a lot to say about many aspects of their health.
This book is not too expensive and truly fascinating. Its writer is revered as a paragon of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the West. It is indispensible if you are in the TCM field, as there just aren't that many books of its type out there. My low rating and initial complaints are primarily for the benefit of the author, who is sure to expand the book in future editions. Please add more pictures above and beyond the case study method used presently. I want to see a few normal tongues. I also want to see pictures of tongues that are normal except for only one unusual feature so that I can see what that feature looks like on its own.
For Students Studying for the Boards..........2003-01-25
Another Giovanni book. He's like the Chinese Medicine Mafia - he's italian, he's everywhere, and he's never wrong. Yeah, right.
I didn't read the whole thing, but I did look through the case studies and look at their tongues. Particularly of note is his "rootless" tongue coat, also known as "patchy," which he says indicates Stomach yin xu. I hadn't seen this from any other author, so it was news to me... and key info to have in your brain for the test.
Not bad for OM students in general... no other book out there like it.
Top Notch.......2001-08-22
This is one of the most useful, attractive, and interesting books on TCM that I have in my library. The writing is good and well organized, the illustrations are excellent and the photographs are worth ... well ... a thousand words.
IMHO, this is one of the most important books a student of TCM can have. I think it should be the 2nd book a TCM student buys. The first would be a good fundamentals book (such as Fundamentals of Chinese Medicine by Wiseman and Ellis).
Highly recommended.
