A Fun Read.......2007-01-12
I am starting to read all the "Still Sexy Ladies Guide" books. This one was the first that I read and loved it. The humor and the easy going writing style kept me spellbound. The plot was somewhat predictable however I didn't mind because of the way the book flowed. If you want a good book where you will chuckle aloud and find that hours have gone by rather than a half hour... then this is a book for you.

Just a bunch of single 30 something gals out having a good time. Talking about their favorie subject. MEN. But not just any man. the Perfect Immortal man. So they decide to try this ritual they heard of. So being a bit on the tipsy side they go out under the full moon and tell what they what. For Tara she can see him all man coming right at her and in the next moment she is on all fours howling at the moon. She then see this handsome man drop to all fours and before her she see the most beautiful black wolf she's ever seen. And she see's alot because she works at the local zoo and the wolfves are her favorites. So that is why she see her perfect man as half man and half wolf.
Delvin hears her call and goes to her. But its not that easy to explain to Tara he is want she saw and he is there to claim her as his lifemate.
The story is funny and has some twists and turns that keep Delvin from being able to tell her right away what and why hes their but the attraction is strong. But will it be strong enough?
The story is worth the read and i think you will just love the chacters.
So go ahead dream about what you think you would want your perfect immortal man whould be. you just never know......
Great chick-lit werewolf tale.......2006-05-29
Tara Wilde and her friends want only to find their perfect immortal man and stop being harassed by all of the losers they seem to find. Tara envisions her dream guy as her friends conduct a ritual to summon such a man- and leaves them shaken as she howls like a wolf!
Meanwhile, shifter Devlin Morgan hears her call the same day his father tells him he must find his mate and assume leadership of the Morgan pack. However, Devlin's brother, Mickale, wants to be pack leader and is willing to derail Devlin's relationship with Tara to become leader. Tara and Devlin will have to deal with Mickale while facing the shifter hunters as well as a disgruntled employee Tara fires after she catches him abusing a wolf at the zoo.
Beverly Rae expertly weaves a werewolf tale with chick lit to create the fabulous book, THE STILL SEXY LADIES GUIDE TO IMMORTALS: DANCIN' IN THE MOONLIGHT. The witty repartee throughout the novel keeps the story light and amusing while the action scenes and complex plot provide depth. In particular, the scenes between Tara and the shifter hunters had this reviewer laughing out loud as Tara's reactions to the stench and appearance of the hunters is priceless.
The interactions between Tara and Devlin make THE STILL SEXY LADIES GUIDE TO IMMORTALS: DANCIN' IN THE MOONLIGHT believable. Tara and Devlin first meet when Tara catches Devlin doing his best impression of a Peeping Tom and so she shoots him in his buttocks with buckshot! While it would seem impossible that Tara would forgive Devlin before the wounds had even healed (and shifters heal rather quickly!), Tara's own doubts create a sense of realism to the story. Beverly Rae leaves readers howling for more in her thoroughly enjoyable addition to the STILL SEXY LADIES GUIDE TO IMMORTALS series!

On their girls' night out, Tala was relaxing with her three friends, and trying to avoid all the lame pickup lines from lame wannabe Lotharios. Tala recently broke up with a boyfriend who hit her, and she is taking her time jumping back into the dating pool. The trouble is, Tala is the zoo veterinarian, and her face is familiar from the PR spots she's done for the zoo, so every Tom, Dick, and Fred thinks he can be familiar with her, too. After an evening of girly friendship and alcohol, the group begins to wonder if they need to hold out for immortals, since they can't find any guys here on earth. The four of them go out into the parking lot, and under the full moon, each wishes for her perfect immortal man. Only, when it's Tala's turn, she ends up baying at the moon - just like a wolf!
It's time for werewolf Devlin Morgan to find his mate - luckily, he heard her call him when the moon was full, and sets out to find her. The situation is a little rushed, since his father is retiring as pack leader, and is bestowing the position on Devlin. Though Devlin doesn't particularly want the role of alpha, he will take it on if he must. Unfortunately, Devlin's brother Mickale definitely wants to be alpha, and will do most anything to get it. Throw in a pack of annoying werewolf hunters, and a mate who doesn't believe he's a werewolf, and you have a comedy of errors with fur.
I thoroughly enjoyed this werewolf novel. Although bad things happen to our hero and heroine, overall the story had a flippant, lighthearted tone which I found quite pleasing. The plot is complex, and the author skillfully keeps all the threads going until the last page. The characterizations are slightly superficial, but Tala, Devlin, and Mickale are appealing, interesting people. The male/female love scenes are erotic, but playful and only moderately explicit. I had read the first book in the "Dating Immortals" series, but hadn't had time to pick any of the others up until this one. Isabella Gerardi wakes up after almost being struck by lightning swearing never to drink again! She certainly won't stand in a circle with her friends in the middle of Central Park conjuring immortals to date. Although Monday morning, a god of a man has been assigned to her weather team at Channel 12 without consulting her, she does not believe he's in any way associated with her wacky friends and their drunken circle. Strange weather phenomena start occurring with the advent of Galvin and Isabella determines to watch him closely; too closely it seems, when they can't keep their hands off each other.
Galvin goes against his parents, Thor the Thunder god and Sif. He is determined to find a wife in the earthly realm, but he didn't count on the interference of his stubborn father. Galvin battles Bella's reticence and his father's storms to win her heart.
That is only the beginning of their obstacles if you add in he's immortal, she's not; his family are all gods of one sort or another with all their quirks and idiosyncrasies and hers is a loony bunch of Italians intent on Bella and her gay brother Gino marrying good Italians and having babies.
Lizzie T. Leaf has penned a wonderfully funny and heartwarming romance with enough heat to fog your windows! Struck By Lightning will keep you chuckling throughout at the antics of Bella's loving, yet controlling Italian family and Galvin's nutty immortal family. Ms. Leaf's characterizations are fabulous! You feel like you're living this book and thinking in Bella's head. This book is a knee slapping good time and I highly recommend it.

Galvin is the son of Thor and his mother is Sif and a fertility goddess and Thor's wife. they want him to pick a respectful and immortal wife from their world. But Galvin has no interest in there narrow minds and wants to look outside of there world to the mortal creatures of earth. This has Thor and is mother a bit upset by this new adventure he wishes to go on.
He wants to meet "izzy" and after witnessing the girl out going there immortal dance under the moon light he is intrigue about the girl who knows weather. Since that is something the runs a bit in his family.
Izzy come from an Italian family whose mother only goal in life is to find the right ones for her son & daughter.And to get her childern to do what she thinks is best she uses the guilt card and the just on the verge tears when she needs the big guns. And then there is Nanna who has some secerts of her own. But most of the time they just dont want to get on her bad side which seems to be pretty often.
Galvin gets a job with the station that Izzy works at, through connects his farther has with the owner. He does know alot about weather but nothing about weather stations.
Is is trying to learn more about this women, but his farther Thor keeps sending these strange weather pattens at them which keeps interfearing with his desire to try to get to know her.
when he finally gets his father to back off. His father gets him fired from the weather station. Gotta tell you Thor just seems like a big baby his son didn't listen to him and now he's having a temper tanturm.
But that doesn't stop Galvin he tells her finally who and what he is and proves it by taking her to his home. There izzy is to meet his parents and Sif is nice enough but does remind izzy that she will continue to grow old and her son will not. And Thor is just plan rude.
There is only one way to become immortal if not born into it and that is to become a Valkyrie Warrior and the only way for that to happen is to do a selfless act that in which your life is lost. And if that cant happen then Galvin has told his father and mother then he will choose to become mortal rather then lose Izzy.
mmmmmm they are in in pickle the only way to know for sure is read the book. This series is injoyable and a few twist you might not see coming.

Galvin Haldor is the son of the god Thor and the grandson of Odin. Against his parents' wishes, he wants to marry a mortal woman rather than one of the numerous immortals found in Asgard. Isabella Girardi is a mortal female who had a bit too much to drink with a group of friends and tried to conjure an immortal. Enter Galvin into Isabella's world so he can woo her.....
Isabella is a chief meteorologist for a local television station and is angered when station owner Leif Moultar forces her to work with Galvin. Galvin repeatedly says he "knows" weather but has no degrees or certification that Isabella is aware of. Thor is not happy with Galvin's decision to pursue a mortal wife and he has some nasty tricks up his sleeve. Will Isabella and Galvin's love survive the wackiness of their families?
STRUCK BY LIGHTNING offers a fascinating portrait of how people (and gods/goddesses) can look beyond their differences and overcome prejudice. Galvin's family is horrified by the idea of a mortal entering their family as they do not believe that someone who is powerless is good enough for Galvin. Meanwhile, Isabella's mom has to deal with her own prejudices when Isabella's brother, Gino, openly declares his homosexuality. The interplay between the various family members is both entertaining and thought provoking as it really points out just how complicated families can be. Galvin and Isabella have families with their own various dysfunctions and prejudices but it is heart warming to see how the love between the family members is able to overcome all of the prejudices and misconceptions.
Lizzie T. Leaf does a wonderful job with character development. Even secondary characters such as Loki, Sif, Pia, and Angela seem vibrant and real. Ms. Leaf cleverly weaves together various threads of the histories of the secondary characters to create a cohesive picture with the overall storyline of the love between Galvin and Isabella.
STRUCK BY LIGHTNING is a fabulous addition to the Still Sexy Ladies Guide to Dating Immortals series. Lizzie T. Leaf is an author who continues to impress this reviewer with her gift for creating very personable and realistic characters. STRUCK BY LIGHTNING is definitely a book that will be enjoyed by paranormal romance readers!

Then, one day at work, the new owner of the station insists that they hire the son of a friend of his, one Galvin Haldor, and place him on the meteorologist's staff. This is a novel in the Still Sexy Ladies' Guide to Dating Immortals series. The plot is nicely paced and logically developed, with no loose ends, but I think what I enjoyed most were the characters. In particular, Isabella and her family are hilariously real, and I was most amused by the family dynamics. Galvin was very realistically drawn, for a fantasy character, and the other gods and goddesses were a hoot. They must have fun up there in Asgard! This story has fairly explicit male/female sex scenes between a loving couple, one of which is a great elevator scene. One of the couples in the story is a male/male pair, but the relationship is shown as very loving, and no sex scenes are involved. One man's views.......2007-07-18
I'm captivated by female beauty, so I was interested at the prospect of a book dedicated to the subject from an artist's perspective. Unfortuately, the author has framed some of his statements to be representative of "most men." It's annoying and sloppy. For example, commenting that many women now shave their pubic hair, he observes that "most men" actually prefer women with pubic hair (without even broaching whether its trimmed or groomed). He fails to acknowledge that preferences vary widely and offers no data to support his statement. He has a section on body piercing where he goes to some lengths to explain how he's finally come around to accept the idea, but only in certain parts of the body, and again women are better off unadorned. Opinions on that subject also vary from person to person. Rather than discussing his preferences as strictly his own (e.g. "As a painter, I prefer 'x' because...") or doing some actual psychological or historical research, this book comes across as the organized ramblings of one opinionated man (whose opinions I don't share) - not intelligent discourse about a beautiful, age-old topic. I returned the book.

This slim book is not just a delightful account of the female body, but a passionate hymn to the beauty of woman.
Intensely sensous, but not pornographic at all, it lovingly examines and exalts all the components of her body, underlining their significance from an aesthetic and erotic viewpoint.
It should be required reading for all photographers and painters alike as an introduction to the appreciation of the female body.
Art teachers had better leave anatomy manuals on the bookshelves from time to time and refer to this book as they teach life drawing classes, to arouse the students' genuine interest in what they are drawing.

This is an amazing book, more so as the author is man, but one with unusual perception when it comes to understanding the female psyche about their bodies and sexuality. Sheldon Filger presents the entire female body as an artistic tapestry, and enables the reader to understand the heavenly beauty that is the body of a woman. I really felt empowered after reading this appropriately-named "Erotic Book." Women will truly feel liberated after reading it--and men will also have new insights, and a wonderful gift for their special woman.

I am a photographer and I am mesmerized by the quality of the photographs of this book.

This collection was a bit disappointing in that the photos were so tame and somewhat on the boring side! It was no surprise to see black bodies in "respectable" positions because I think there's this crazy need out there to always present black women as "queens". This bunk is exactly what this book delivers.
For me, this would have been an interesting book if it had shown the eroticism of black women and the variety of sexuality that exists in black women. Also, it was tiresome to see only tall, muscled, skinny black women held up as icons of beauty and sexuality. Where are the pictures of heavy women? Women who love S&M? Lesbians? Well, they're not found in this book!
Yes, the photos are nice, blah, blah...but, there's nothing else creative or interesting about them.

It is delightful to see a collection that concentrates on the beauty unique to black women. The individual photos are lovely, but the collection as a whole is striking in the variety that it presents. "Black" coloring covers a wide range of skin tones, represented reasonably well here. The women's faces are simply amazing, however. There is endless variety in their shapes and proportions, far more than in collections of European models. Each woamn's face is unique and appealing, but the range of different faces struck me again and again.
The models all appear to be young adults - like so many other collections of figure photos, more mature beauty isn't given its due. Also, the large majority of photos are half- or three-quarter length portraits. The upper body is well represented, but the models' hips and legs are commonly left out. That decision dropped a huge number of opportunities to show the grace and strength of the whole figure, and left me slightly disappointed.
But only slightly. This is a lovely tribute to dark-skinned beauty, and to many of the faces it wears.
