Journey of Souls is a controversial yet inspiring investigation of the big question we all face at one point or another: "What happens after we die?" To find the answer, Newton opens cases from his private practice in which he hypnotically regressed his clients to a point between lives--after death, but before birth. Not only does Newton grapple with reincarnation, the spirit world, and the nature of the human soul, he also tackles equally sticky questions such as "Is there a Heaven and Hell?" and "What are ghosts?" Readers with a penchant for skepticism will balk at the lack of physical evidence to back up the claims in Journey of Souls, but the book remains a reassuring voice, affirming that our existence is not limited to the boundaries of our mortal flesh. --Brian Patterson

Do you find life frustrating and meaningless?.......2007-09-11
Have you ever wondered why we are here? What is our purpose? Who are we supposed to be with? What is the point?
This courageous book attempts to answer these questions through the ambitious effort of hypnotic recall through past-life therapy. Given the level of commitment and the consistency of the responses, Michael Newton paints a very credible picture of where we have come from, where we are going and why that answers many other questions of time and space.
It's a fascinating read for those with an open mind, and provides thought-provoking comfort to those who currently find life frustratingly meaningless.

Journey of Souls .......2007-08-23
This is an AMAZING documentation of subjects, each sharing insight to "life" after "life", spirit world, and each encouter is similar yet different. I would recommend this book to anyone who is intereted in the "after-life", rebirth, reincarnation.
I give all of Michael Newton's works 10 STARS!!.......2007-08-11
As someone who's spent the last 35 years uncovering and writing about my own past lives, and studying how the karma from each of them has played out in the events and relationships of my present life, I suppose I bring something of a unique perspective to Dr Michael Newton's extraordinary trilogy, "Journey of Souls," "Destiny of Souls," and "Life Between Lives." Even after uncovering three of my own historically identifiable, though far from famous, past personas, I was still frustrated that neither I, nor any of the writers I had consulted seem to be able to throw any light on the issue of what happens to us between lifetimes.
But then, I discovered the works of Michael Newton, arguably the most important and most fascinating accounts of this entire genre. By directing the focus of his subjects away from their subconscious and toward their super-conscious, it seems Dr Newton succeeded in accessing a spiritual dimension previously untapped by the vast majority of researchers in this field. Once there, he was able to painstakingly document over many years what is undoubtedly one of the most comprehensive, detailed and believable models of what takes place in the afterlife anyone has ever put forward. Most importantly, it portrays in very convincing terms just how each of us goes about planning and designing our future lives. And once we absorb such a concept it becomes difficult for anyone to fail to take responsibility for their own lives, even with all its challenges and disappointments.
As fate would have it, I discovered Newton's works just after reading "Same Soul, Many Bodies" by the prolific Dr Brian Weiss. In it he discusses his experiences with "future life progression" as a technique for inspiring and motivating patients to change the directions of their lives by revealing the potentialities awaiting them in future incarnations, if they can just make the right choices in the here-and-now.
Comparing the claims of Dr Weiss with those of Dr Newton seemed to leave me with something of a paradox, which was namely this: If Dr Newton was correct that when we die we return to the spiritual realm to take on the work of planning and designing our next life, how would it be possible for Dr Weiss to explore our future lives while we are still alive, since the planning process had not taken place yet?
To resolve this conundrum I decided to have a chat with my spirit guide, Prakash. He first reminded me that linear time is only an operable construct in the physical dimension, and that from the perspective of the spiritual realm all physical incarnations co-exist simultaneously in a moment of eternity. Therefore, it follows that all those between life episodes that Dr Newton describes likewise exist in that same simultaneous eternity. The only reason is seems confusing is because Dr Newton is exploring and reporting what appears to be a linear sequence of lives and their related planning episodes, which necessarily skews his perspective due to his viewing the information from his location here in this dimension of linear time.
This gave me an idea. From all of my past lives that I have explored over the last three decades, two have stood out as closely related, even though they were separated by 700 years. The first was my life as Genghis Khan's nephew Yegu, and the second was my life as Field Marshall Count Helmuth von Moltke (the younger), nephew of von Moltke (the elder), his uncle and namesake, the military genius and hero of the Franco-Prussian War who helped Bismarck unite the German Empire. In the first life the plan for me to succeed my uncle Genghis failed, but in the second I did succeed my uncle as Chief of the German General Staff prior to and during the initial phases of WW I. As you might suspect, von Moltke (the elder) was a reincarnation of Genghis Khan.
What occurred to me is that exploring the planning stages of these two incarnations in tandem would provide a rare opportunity to see this whole planning process at its most complex. Fortunately, Dr Newton's third book, "Life Between Lives" was designed as something of a do-it-yourself training manual for just such explorations. So I guess that will be my next project.

Inspiring and Insightful.......2007-08-08
I really liked this book. It was fascinating, compelling and by offering the clinical proof most of us need to believe in any kind of life after death, it was also suprisingly comforting. It's such a good read, once you pick it up, you won't be able to put it down. Once you finish, you won't be able to avoid searching for answers about your own past lives. Definitely two thumbs up.
Easy Read.......2007-08-05
I am surprisingly satisfied with this book. I wasn't sure what I was getting into, but it is well written and provides some good information that surely got me thinking about death in a different direction.

Gary Zukav's American Book Award-winning The Dancing Wu Li Masters masterfully introduces the layman to quantum and particle physics, as well as Einstein's relativity theories. With a similar dose of amiable, easy-to-understand prose, Zukav guides readers into the spiritual realm in his bestselling The Seat of the Soul.
Zukav questions the Western model of the soul, alleging that the human species is in the midst of a great transformation, evolving from a species that pursues power based upon the perceptions of the five senses--"external power"--to one that pursues power based upon perceptions of the soul--"authentic power." He believes that humans are immortal souls first, physical beings second, and that once we become conscious of this transformation--once we align our personalities with our soul--we will stimulate our spiritual growth and become better people in the process. This insightful, lucid synthesis of modern psychology and new-age principles has been described as the "physics of the soul." Who better to explain such heady concepts than Gary Zukav?
Amazon.com Audiobook Review
Ready to attain a higher level of understanding? Author Gary Zukav can help you evolve into a multisensory being, one who "values love more than the physical world." As shown in The Dancing Wu Li Masters, his bestselling exploration of physics, Zukav has a gift for presenting complex, even mind-boggling concepts in clearly worded and reasoned logic. In Seat of the Soul, he leads you on an inspirational and potentially life-changing journey into the seemingly intangible realm of the spirit. Reading in a calm, soothing voice he explains why increased sensory perception will mark the next phase of human evolution, how the power of choice can change your existence, and what you can do to infuse your life with more compassion, trust, and understanding. (Running time: 3 hours, 2 cassettes) --George Laney
Book Description
With the same extraordinary skill that he used to demystify scientific abstraction and the new physics, Gary Zukay, the award-winning author of The Dancing Wu Li Masters, here takes us on a brilliant and penetrating exploration of the new phase of evolution we have now entered.
With lucidity and elegance, Zukav explains that we are evolving from a species that pursues power based upon the perceptions of the five senses -- external power -- into a species that pursues authentic power -- power that is based upon the perceptions and values of the spirit. He shows how the pursuit of external power has produced our survival-of-the-fittest understanding of evolution, generated conflict between lovers, communities, and superpowers, and brought us to the edge of destruction.
Using his scientist's eye and philosopher's heart, Zukav shows how infusing the activities of life with reverence, compassion, and trust makes them come alive with meaning and purpose. He illustrates how the emerging values of the spirit are changing marriages into spiritual partnerships, psychology into spiritual psychology, and transforming our everyday lives. The Seat of the Soul describes the remarkable journey to the spirit that each of us is on.

Intuitive.......2007-10-02
In this book, Zukav's grammar is often appalling, especially toward the end of the book. Quite surprising for a national best seller. But the underlying insights and message expressed in this book are profoundly insightful and intuitive. Anyone with an ounce of spiritual awareness or psychic intuition will know that this book is clearly and wonderfully aligned with `What Is So'. This book is fantastic.
A spiritual journey in the realm of the soul!.......2007-09-29
This book was given to me as a gift some twenty years ago, and although it was highly recommended to me, I never read it. I have always been an avid reader, but I always found other titles more appealing--that is until I read `How to find God', by Deepak Chopra. Chopra mentions in his book that `The Seat of the Soul' is the best book he has read about the soul. Upon finishing Deepak's book, I plunged into `The Seat of the Soul', finally, and thankfully. I guess I need to send my friend a twenty years late thank you note.
There are many interesting concepts in the book.
According to the author, animals have a group soul. I found that to be extremely fascinating. For example, all horses share the same soul; all elephants share the same soul; all dolphins share the same soul; and so on. An animal does not have its own soul, but shares one soul with its entire specific species. There is only one soul for the hundreds of millions of cows in the world. This is why animals function on instincts.
Some group souls are higher spiritually than others. For example, the soul of dolphins is higher than all other sea creatures. In fact, many spiritual sects believe that a dolphin is the last stage of a soul before becoming reincarnated into a human being. So even in the animal kingdom, there are souls that are more evolved than others.
Every soul, whether human or animal, has a purpose. A dolphin, for example, has as a mission to bring beauty and love to the sea. But what if the soul cannot accomplish its mission or purpose? We have recently seen an increase in dead dolphins washing on beaches. Why is that? According to the author, dolphins are dying because they no longer can accomplish their purpose. It is not a mass suicide, but because dolphins are bringing onto themselves diseases that are killing them. Man is not respecting nature, and is killing the creatures of the sea, such as whales for example, at an alarming rate and for very selfish reasons. In other words, life forms are being massacred for profit! Other sea creatures are dying because of the pollution we are creating. As a result, the sea is no longer a peaceful, beautiful, and pure world, and the dolphins are no longer able to perform their duties as guardians of beauty and serenity to the sea. As a result, their soul has become diseased, and they are dying off.
The author uses the following analogy to describe disease and its effect on the soul. Imagine a piano and a piano player. If the piano is broken, it can be repaired. But no matter how perfect the piano is, if the player is sick, the sound or melody coming from the piano will be less than perfect. However, if the piano is less than perfect, with some faults in it that can't be repaired, but the player is in perfect spirits, the music played will be beautiful. Furthermore, if the piano breaks, the player can always fix it. But if the player breaks (so to speak), the piano cannot repair the player. In this scenario, the piano represents the body, and the player represents the soul. If our soul is healthy, we will always be healthy and we will be projecting positive energy. However, if our soul is diseased, we too will be diseased, and we will be projecting negative energy.
There are many reasons why our soul can become diseased. One of the main reasons is that we find no purpose to our life, or in other words, are unable to fulfill our soul's purpose. Disease and soul are therefore linked. Ever hear of miraculous healings, such as the paralyzed suddenly walking or terminally ill patients suddenly recovering? In their case, their soul was healed, which in turn healed their bodies. Now that's a really interesting concept. Instead of trying to find ways of healing the body, science must now concentrate on better understanding the soul and diagnosing and treating the soul, not the body. When the soul is healthy, the body is healthy.
Another powerful healer is Love (with a capital `L'). Love heals all. The soul is Love. In fact, when we die, we return to our state of pure Love. The soul cannot know anything but Love, and all its intentions are for Love. However, here on earth, our personality takes hold of us, and shapes our actions. At death, the soul and personality are separated, and the soul returns to its pure form.
It is really important that we, as individuals, aim to achieving the purpose of our soul. We will earn negative karma if we do not succeed. For example, a giving and caring person might have as a `soul purpose' the goal of making the world a better place by giving to the poor or by creating humanitarian organizations. However, such a person's personality might interfere with his soul's purpose, and instead of directing his kindness and caring to the world, he might direct it towards his loved ones only, which will be interpreted in the universe as a selfish act. This is the reason why our soul falls ill, and as a result, our body falls ill too.
Another interesting concept is the `Law of Attraction', which has become popular in the book `The Secret', by Rhonda Byrne. According to the law of attraction, the universe gives you what you want. For example, if you always feel anger, the universe will give you more anger. If you feel love, and are surrounded by loving people, the universe will give you more love. In other words, positive energy attracts positive energy, and negative energy attracts negative energy. By being positive all the time, you will be attracting positive people and situations around yourself. So be positive!
How does the author know all that about the soul? Is he making this all up? After all, writers can easily create imaginary and fascinating worlds. Take Tolkien as an example. Or is it all a play with words? For example, Chopra says in `The Book of Secrets', that on death, it is the body that leaves the soul, and not the other way around. Is this merely a play with words, or a truth? And how does the author know this?
This book is fascinating, but because the soul cannot be proven scientifically, it remains in the domain of speculation and faith. The soul, like God, depends on faith, and faith alone. But what splendid things can befall one in such a belief!
Read this book and be inspired, and get to know yourself...ergo your soul.
sooo worth it!.......2007-09-12
This book has changed my life and way of thinking. It is amazing, so positive and explanative. I have found my soul.
The Difference between 5-Sensory Refiews and Others.......2007-09-07
I'm on my 3rd reading of this enlightened book. All I want to say is that those that wrote negative reviews wrote from the perspective of the "5-sensory" human who must have physical "proof" of everything and is suspect of anything that cannot be detected by their 5 senses. I have come to believe, as Gary says, that the evolution of the human species has gone beyond that phase. As the pioneers of Quantum Physics have discovered, there is much, much more to the universe than can be "understood", measured and detected. Gary Z speaks from the knowing that only those who have been there can understand.
Great philosophy but ............2007-09-06
I appreciated much of Zukav's philosophy - it was in accord with my own views in lots of ways, but it was also illuminating and refining in other ways.
What I didn't like about the book was the - well, what was it, religion? that he used to justify his views. It kept reminding me that there are people out there who believe 'Lord of the Rings' actually happened, or 'Star Wars'. (And I don't know enough about L Ron Hubbard to know if there are parallels there too.)
For me belief is an extremely personal thing - something we must all sort out for ourselves. What Mr Zukav describes to justify his philosophy (as if good ideas ever needed justification!) is simply no part of what I believe and I can't see it becoming so.

Bodies and Souls, The Century Project.......2007-09-27
It's hard to call this a book, as it is an experience of a lifetime.
If everyone would openly talk, violence would be drastically reduced. I am sorry to the brave women in this book who were harmed by someone's violence. The wowen are a testimony to courage. Frank's courage, as well, for following his heart and soul. As, art it is a monumental master peice. A must experience for all those who have suffered from hiding, secrets, and sexual violation.
Incredible! Powerful! Life-Affirming!.......2007-07-19
This is an incredibly powerful book I wish everyone could own. My 15 year old daughter and I read it together and it the experience was unforgettable! The photographs paired with the real, raw stories of these girls, young women and women opened up a dialog between my daughter and I that could not have happened in any other setting. This book looks at bodies and the lives behind them with a sense of dignity and truth that you rarely find.
Some images and stories may be disturbing and/or inappropriate for younger children, but for me this book was a powerful way to see body image in a healthy light for me and my daughter.
For my daughter.......2007-07-19
I bought it for my 14 year old daughter who at first thought it was 'yucky' but later appreciated the stories that accompanied the photos. Great job of using pictures to paint the story of challenges that so many women continue to overcome.
bodies and souls: the century project.......2007-06-30
The powerful images and stories in this book are empowering and educational. This book is an antidote to the media-generated myths surrounding women's bodies, depicting the truth, instead of fabrication. These are real people and real stories. I recommend it highly to anyone's mother, daughter or sister.
Reality.......2007-05-15
Frank Cordelle's " The Century Project" is a remarkable work of female nudity and perception, concept and composition. It's a revelation of humanity.

Past life regressions are fascinating to consider, but have you ever wondered what happens between lives? In Destiny of Souls hypnotherapist Michael Newton asks dozens of his own patients to describe their lives from the moment of death right up until reincarnation into this world. Newton described this journey in his first book, Journey of Souls, and now takes us back for a second trip that is described in infinitely more detail. Of therapeutic interest is how spirits contact the living to help loved ones they've left behind deal with their grief. Newton assures readers that they will reconnect with those who have gone before them, even their pets. He answers the full range of questions one could ever think to ask about life after death: How can a soul be in heaven and reincarnate at the same time? How are new souls created? How are souls who've done evil on earth punished? These and many other questions are answered with surprising congruity between respondents.
Book Description
In this fascinating sequel to his controversial and popular Journey of Souls, Michael Newton explores what happens to the soul after death. Among other topics of enduring mystery, he addresses angels, ghosts, reincarnation, why certain people are drawn together, and what lessons the soul is intended to learn, casting new light on life's events and relationships.

A more detailed "Journey of the Souls".......2007-06-13
Exactly as the subject line says.
Read "Journey of the Souls". If you like that one AND you are into research and detailed info, then this book is for you. If you were convinced by Journey of the Souls and are the type of person that does not like to be bogged down with details, then I'd skip this one... Well unless you want the complete set :)
I am glad I bought it and would buy book 3 if he writes one and it had more detailed case studies.
The Great Lesson of Earth.......2007-06-01
Like JOURNEY OF SOULS, this book is not some trivial, New Age potboiler. I read it cover-to-cover (and intend to do so again) and I have found it to be quite satisfying and believable. It goes into much greater detail than the first volume with many more case studies. An example of the further detail is the chapter on earthly spirits (nature spirits, ghosts, souls in seclusion, discarnates who visit earth, and demons or devas), and the chapter on soul specializations (nursery teachers, ethicists, harmonizer souls, masters of design, explorers...)
As I said before, I know some people are going to automatically reject it because it relies on hypnotherapy. They are going to assume that the hypnotist implanted false memories among his clients. At the very least, they are going to claim that networking between the 67 clients covered in these case studies resulted in the remarkable consistency among them. This does not appear to be the case. The author holds a Ph.D. in counseling and is a state-certified Master Hypnotherapist. He is aware of the common criticisms and he makes a believable case for why they do not apply in his work. I believed him.
Once again, the overall consistency between the 67 cases is remarkable. Different terminology and symbolism is occasionally used but it is obvious that the same things are being described. What we have is an orderly picture of classification of soul development and of the structure of the spiritual world. It is remarkably similar to that described in different language over the millennia by shamans, the Vedas, the Platonists, the Gnostics. It also reminds one of the experiences of Robert Monroe and of George Meek in more modern times. Yet, you do not get the impression that the author or his subjects were overly familiar with these teachings at the time of the sessions. It is like the spontaneous symbolism that Jung described as arising from the collective unconscious; only in this case the source is the hyperconscious- the realm of soul guides.
We forfeit our physical body after death but our eternal life energy unites with the force of a divine oversoul in an orderly progression. Our soul reflects a small portion of this oversoul that we call God.
As it clearly states near the end of the book, the great lesson of Earth is to overcome both planetary and private destructive forces in life, grow strong from the effort, and move on. But then earth isn't the only available learning ground...
Expands on First book.......2007-04-05
Mr. Newton expands on the work of his first book with plenty of new information. This book, as the first, is written based on information that Michael Newton has gained from hundreds of clients that have experienced life "on the other side", or in heaven. The first book guides you through the process chronologically after death, this book basically expands on the first without a chronological format. Has interesting new info, like, where do new souls come from? Are their pets in heaven, and if so, do we have access to them? Recommend reading his first book first, but it 's not necessary.
Book Description
In Brian Weiss bestseller, Many Lives, Many Masters, nearly one and half million readers met Catherine. In a hypnotic trance, she summoned memories of past lifetimes, demonstrated an astonishing ability to transmit transcendental messages, and turned the life of a respectable psychiatrist upside down. Now, Dr. Weiss takes his research one breathtaking step further. He portrays two strangers, Elizabeth and Pedro, who are unaware that they have been lovers throughout the long centuriesuntil fate brings them together again. Arguing that each and every one of us has a soulmate whom we have loved in past incarnations, Dr. Weiss opens up entirely new worlds.

A new view on what love really is.......2007-09-26
As with "Many Lives, Many Masters", you'll need to have a open mind to appreciate this brilliant work of Brian Weiss. Here, he relates the discovery that two of his patients, Elizabeth and Pedro, who had not previously known each other, were actually long-lost soulmates. These two had been husband and wife, father and daughter, brother and sister and were, in each of those lifetimes that were uncovered, bonded strongly to each other. The two were finally reunited, with a little help from the doctor.
I now comprehend the meaning of the word, "soulmates" and "love" at a different level, from a different perspective altogether. These revelations opened my mind to a new definition of love- something that is unconditional, true, and pure. When I look into the eyes of my beloved son now, I no longer question why I love him so. I can only love him even more. And it also gives me reassurance and hope for a better, more emotionally fufilling life ahead, whether it is in my current lifetime or the next.
In many ways, I find this book more powerful than "Many Lives". It touches my life in many aspects, such as the topic of miscarriages, that was briefly mentioned. The explanations for various phenomena in life given in terms of souls and rebirthing leave an everlasting sense of calm within me. This book will be of great help for individuals who are struggling with relationships. For people who think they don't need it, think again, because it helped me.
Shows some weakness in the good doctors understanding.......2007-08-08
In "Only Love is Real," best selling author and psychotherapist Dr. Brian Weiss traces the karmic threads connecting two souls drawn together by "love" over many lifetimes. Ordinarily, I have great respect for Dr Weiss and his work, but in this case I'm afraid he demonstrates a lack of discernment by concluding that a couple whose relationship is characterized by great "passion," would necessarily constitute "soul mates," a little understood and widely abused term.
To be accurate, the term "soul-mate" refers to two separate entities who are friends unburdened by any karmic debt. What is commonly assumed by the term soul-mates is more properly described as "dharmic-partners," meaning souls united in their spiritual purpose, whether physically together or not. We may have several soul-mates, but only one dharmic-partner, a relationship based on service-to-others.
This leaves "karmic-partners," making up the bulk of our relationships, at least until we clear our karma and are ready to connect with our dharmic-partner. Karmic-partner relationships are characterized by "passion," the strong desires that create our karma, precisely the thing that makes Dr Weiss think his couple are soul-mates.
In my own life I've had more than my share of intensely passionate karmic relationships, so many that I gave my autobiography "The Vortex" the subtitle of "A True Story of Passion and Karma." My realizations of how past life trauma accounted for the events of my present life didn't originate from lying on Dr Weiss' couch in trance. They came to me through a continuous chain of spontaneous psychic encounters over 25 years, involving events of a lifetime 800 years ago when I was a nephew of Genghis Khan. From my third wife who would pay me back for abandoning her in favor of a slave girl, to the fourth wife who couldn't trust me because of my putting her to death as my younger brother, and the lover who had been my former slave and had vowed to escape from me "no matter how long it took," both passion and love were central features of each of these intensely karmic relationships.
My journey of discovery began in the spring of 1975. My third wife was sitting in front of me reciting an 800 year old Greek Orthodox prayer that was reputed to dispel evil and quiet the mind when she was suddenly plunged into a spontaneous psychic vision. Before her she saw a shaft of electric blue light coming down through the top of my head and engulfing my entire body, and a very old monk dressed in red robes standing off to my right.
As soon as she described the monk I was immediately struck by his similarity to what a previous psychic had referred to years earlier as my "very powerful spirit guide." But before I could speak of this she reported that his features were morphing, first into a Prussian General, then into a Mongolian Warlord from the time of Genghis Khan. Next she reported seeing an inextricably terrifying amorphous blob of grayish-white energy off to my left.
A few months later we decided to take a seminar in psychic healing given by legendary psychic healer Ben Bibb, and during an aura reading exercise, in which I was the subject, the entire class reported seeing everything she had seen months earlier, and in exactly the same order and detail. According to Bibb the man in red robes was indeed my spirit guide, the Prussian and Mongolian were personas from two of my past lives, and the blob of energy was a "familiar spirit," an artificial being created during a previous life of high psychic development. As to the shaft of blue light he hadn't a clue.
This is the point at which I probably should have sought the help of someone like Dr. Weiss. Unfortunately, I decided to tough it out on my own and for the next 25 years was continuously plagued by spontaneous encounters with "psychics" who seemed bent on answering all the questions I was too reluctant to ask about the events of these two previous lives.
As the evidence continued to mount I eventually began to realize how the tragic events of these prior lifetimes had in fact shaped both the events and the relationships of my current life. Almost everyone in my current life it seemed, friends, lovers, wives, business partners, had played some pivotal role in these former incarnations and had now returned to help me resolve the karmic issues, whether I consciously wanted to or not.
Aside from discovering my own tragic role in Genghis Khan's conquests as his nephew Yegu, and my role in Germany's involvement in World War I as its Chief of the General Staff, there was a lot of other new knowledge to be acquired along the way as well. Things like how to communicate directly with my Guide, how to control my "familiar," what my spiritual dharma (ie purpose) was and how that related to my having been initiated, while still in my teens, into the spiritual brotherhood responsible for the shaft of blue light.
Amazingly, after documenting all these events in my autobiography I was even able to substantiate many of the events described through historical research. My only regret is that for too long my Guide had to drag me "kicking and screaming" just to get me to listen to what he was trying to tell me. In retrospect, if I had it all to do over again, I would call Dr. Weiss. I'm sure the whole process could have been handled a lot faster and less painfully with his help.
But then I try to look on the bright side. My story may serve as a good example of how NOT to go about handling one's karmic issues when they jump into one's face. At least we can hope.

Book Description
One of the most powerful of the Seth Books, this essential guide to conscious living clearly and powerfully articulates the furthest reaches of human potential, and the concept that we all create our own reality according to our individual beliefs. Having withstood the test of time, it is still considered one of the most dynamic and brilliant maps of inner reality available today.

Seth the Speaker.......2007-07-13
This book was a mind blowing experience for me. Even if none of it were true, just the "thoughts" associated with processing this book created for me an incredible journey of probabilities and possibilities! I feel compelled to share some of the highlighted pieces of wisdom/truths as follows:
- Familiar with the term "Muscle Bound", we as a species have grown "Ego Bound".
- Evil does not exist. However, the closest description of what it is......is "ignorance".
- During "sleep" we leave our bodies to explore other portions of ourselves, other dimensions, other realities and other probable selves.
- During "sleep" we start out meeting our true selves at a non symbolic "spiritual" level and then digress towards "archetypes" and then to "symbols" of which we as a species for the most part remember only fragments in the morning.
- During "sleep" we can accomplish more than when we are "awake".
- During "sleep" we are more "awake" than when we are "awake".
- Thoughts are things. This is the nature of reality.
- "Ghosts" are thought-forms sent by survival personalities out of lingering deep anxiety.
- Judas represented a "self-betrayer" fragment of the Christ.
- Time and space is an illusion. It is a camouflage. It is a lie. What we perceive as the physical world "pulses" or blinks. In between the blinks exist other realities and probable selves/fragments.
- We individually and as a species create our own realities or illusions. We create matter and not the other way around.
- We as individuals and a species select our own physical lives that is acted out as "drama". All the world is a stage.
- Christ will come for a second time. However, his second coming will be as strange to the Christians as his first coming was to the Jews. "He will return to straighten out Christianity, which will be in a shambles at the time of his arrival, and to set up a new system of thought when the world is sorely in need of one." This divine thought system is available now. It exists as A Course In Miracles or ACIM.
- The "Christ" existed as three (3) personalities. They were John the Baptist (prepared the way), Historical Jesus (presented the spiritual ideals) and Paul (was to set up a framework of "ideas"). Paul failed.
- "The Hebrew God became a symbol of man's unleashed ego."
The greatest chapter is "The Meaning of Religion" but don't read that until you read it in the proper sequence or it will make no sense.
I found many similarities to the Edgar Cayce material but the Seth material is so much easier to read. While it is easy to read it is not easy to accept. I found myself stopping to absorb what it was I was experiencing and then after settling down a bit I continued on.
I am definitely happy with this book and will read the next subsequent Seth Book.
And finally the biggest mind blower is that Seth states that the crucifixion was a "psychic event" and Christ was not physically crucified. To me it appears that the historical physical event played out similar to what is contained in the Nag Hammadi Library tractate called "Apocalypse of Peter". Specifically the references to the "Laughing Christ".
my bible.......2007-06-27
Truth. If you seek this, within the deep mysterious of your own underworld of dreams, this book is for you.
Coincidence or something else.......2007-02-07
This material doesn't really need any justification. If the ideas within fit with you, you will know to buy it. It was only by what seemed like a series of rare coincidences that I came across it. If you have made it this far, then maybe it is a forgone conclusion...
Seth is the man (I'm not celia blumenthal, but her son).......2007-01-20
I read a fortune cookie that said "the philsophy of one century is the common sense of the next." This is so applicable to the Seth information, especially with the advent of quantum mechanics and string theory in the past 50 or so years. What is so great about the Seth books is that if you put the information into practice, the validity of his philosphy will be subjectively self-evident. No one can tell you that Seth is lying because you have expereienced it as true, so it becomes irrefutable. I was born Jewish, raised on an Ashram (Siddha Yoga), and my uncle is Gerald Epstein. I've read books on Buddhism, Hinduism, Zen, String Theory, Quantum Physics, taken a bunch of pyschadelics, and, as others have, explored the thinking of innumerable philosophers and spiritual teachers. All I can say is that after reading Seth, it seems like theres nothing left for anybody to say for the rest of existence. It is without a doubt, as so many others have affirmed in these reviews, the most in-depth, comprehensive, extensive and enlightening view of reality that has ever been published or available. Everything fits; it all makes sense. Beliefs creating reality is the king of philosophies, because all other religions and philosophies are beliefs in and of themselves. Im not saying that Seth is the only way to Truth; certainly, other books have influenced my thinking, but they have been tangential to Seth's teachings, and everytime I read something I always check it against Seth's take on the issue. Even string theory, straightforward according to physicists, is so align with Seth's information that it seems almost too good to be true; but it is, of course. I predict that when physicists are able to directly measure string vibrations, there will be experiments done on the strings in our bodies and how our thoughts affect their vibrations. We are perceiving a frequency of reality...this is just a fact. If you told that to people 100 years ago, the skeptics would laugh at you. Jane Roberts, as someone with little to no knowledge of string theory or quantum mechanics (based on her proffesion as a poet), seems unlikely to have conjured up this information from her imagination to make people beleive some kind of twisted, too-good-to-be-true lie....skeptics are skeptics for the sake of being skeptics. I know Seth is true because I have EXPEREIENCED it as true...no one can convince me otherwise at this point. People are so afraid of themselves, and its so sad, because no one wants to take responsibility for their lives or the state of this world...and thats exactly why the world is currently so mislead and in the dark. I hope one day, if the world is still around by then, when everybody knows this information, we can all unabashedly be the Gods that we are, and respect the miracle of ourselves and the holiness of this world. And, for those of you who dont need to be convinced because you have also experienced it as true, my blessings go out to you; you are the conscious creators of our world, and your energy will kindle affirmations of Godhood within the hearts of many lost souls...Spread the love baby!
New Age Philosophy.......2007-01-15
First, I want to note that I am not a member of the 'new age' movement. That said, I am fascinated by various understandings of reality. I 'read around' as an avocation. Seth/Roberts here (and in the many other books in which Jane Roberts allegedly 'channeled' the Spirit of Seth) demonstrates a philosophical sensibility in that one hears, here and there, echoes of puzzles (aporias) that have haunted philosophy since the beginning. In this review I simply want to mention some of the most typical, but extraordinary, assertions of Seth/Roberts (henceforth I will simply type 'Seth') with some (hopefully useful) comments. This review is intended for people outside new age or occult circles, by someone also outside them, in order to give a brief description and, even more briefly, hopefully to show that there are occasional aspects of this authors work that continue (or derive from) philosophical theories that interest them. Of all the modern occult or new age books I've read (mostly on the floor of the local Barnes & Noble superstore) I've found these books to be the most intelligent and interesting.
Several things will stand out on the first reading of these texts:
1.) The sense of self-empowerment this book intends to bring to its readers is the first thing one might notice. Consciousness makes reality, including the physical world. You are responsible for the world you inhabit. There is no victimization, you chose the scenario you are currently living through. This reminds one of a remark of Nietzsche: "Siamo contenti? Son dio ho fatto questa caricatura!" ('Are we content? I am the god who has made this caricature!') - But, according to Seth we create badly; that is, we make what we did not intend to make. - That is why we incarnate, to learn how to create responsibly. It would seem that the only rule for Seth is don't do anything that brings forth consequences you don't want to face.
2.) According to Seth there is, at the deepest level, no Time. It is an illusion that we (souls incarnating in the material world) have agreed to live by. By 'no time' Seth means that everything is happening simultaneously. Technically, one could perhaps say that every instant is endless, but one must immediately add that every instant brings forth new instances. Or, to put it another way, the absence of Time must not be construed to mean that there is not an accumulation of experience. Also of note, since there is no time one can have 'backwards' reincarnations - that is, you or I could elect, in our 'next life', to reincarnate in the Renaissance!
3.) Creativity is a key concept (if not the key concept) for Seth. At one and the same time the Whole is Itself and It is also changing. Everything happens simultaneously (there is no time) but the contents of this 'everything' is always increasing. In a formula one could say that Being = Becoming + Creativity. In fact, this Creativity seems to demand that ALL possible occurrences will somewhere occur. In other words, everything that can happen will happen; even if only in some alternate (or probable) Reality.
4.) Obviously, as with all reincarnation theories that I am aware of, Seth teaches that we are all immortal. However, one must understand precisely what immortality means for Seth. The appearance of Seth II is wonderfully illuminating in this regard. Seth II (who appears in the 'Seth Material') is a 'later' (or possible) development of Seth himself. But so alien is the Seth II consciousness to the Seth consciousness that Seth II will say that he has never physically incarnated! But of course Seth freely speaks of his previous incarnations. Thus one is perhaps forced to conclude that for Seth 'immortality' means becoming what you absolutely are not. Just think how alien 'Seth 10,002' will be to Seth and Seth II! Or, in other terms, would Alexander the Great recognize himself in my cup because it contains an atom that was once in his body?
5.) From the above (i.e., becoming, creativity) it follows that there are countless 'realities' that are ontologically Real. One has the 'reality' one makes. Obviously, one should avoid making fearfully or stupidly. The centrality of the individual consciousness (or soul) is paramount in Seth. According to Seth, the Truth is truly within because we are all 'Gods'. But since we are all experiencing gods our 'truths' continually evolve. This eerily reminds one that Nietzsche speaks of the 'truth' of perspectivism but, of course, he does so in a non-supernatural manner.
6.) Seth's view of what one hesitantly calls 'physics' is, to many readers of Seth, similar to the 'many-worlds' interpretation and indeterminacy of quantum physics. In Seth's multiverse there are other (probable) selves, alternate pasts and futures, many physical universes and (for Seth) many spiritual realities.
7.) Note also that there are many hierarchies in Seth; not only are their probable selves (instances of the soul in other reincarnational dramas) but there is also an 'oversoul' that stands above the the various probable souls inhabiting different realities and learns from their experiences and also, more or less gently, directs this experience too.
This book represents (as far as I, an outsider, can tell) the bleeding edge of 'new age' speculation. In it, the author (Seth and/or Jane Roberts) introduces a new way of looking at the problem of cosmogenesis. We are all Gods: but this is no mere pantheism; we are all creative gods! Thus even now we all create our reality. Actually, it is better to say realities. Seth teaches that there are 'alternative' pasts and 'probable' futures that actually exist even though none of us ever have or ever will inhabit them. Such is the plenitude of Being for our author(s)! But this echoes, however obliquely, an ancient insight: as Parmenides said so long ago - there isn't anything that is not. I know, one is tempted to sneer at the sheer naiveté of all this. But one hears echos of the history of philosophy throughout the books of Seth. For instance, it was the German Idealists who first stepped beyond pantheism by insisting that Substance must also be active Spirit. Seth merely adds that Spirit must always be God. And what of us? We incarnating souls (Spirits) are now necessarily 'Gods' in training, or so Seth maintains. We are learning, by incarnating in the sublunary (i.e., material) world, to Create responsibly. One does come away, however, wondering exactly what responsibility might mean to Seth. Given the fact of the 'plenitude of Being' there is, strictly speaking, no evil. The spaciousness of the All-That-Is (a term of art in the Seth lexicon that more or less means All/God/Whole) has room enough to Willingly contain anything. To be sure, each existent entity has to deal with the consequences of what it makes - but, strictly speaking, consequences, no matter how unpleasant, are not an evil. Consequences are an educational tool! Indeed, since Seth also teaches that there are probable selves (other instantations of ourselves) living entirely different lives in other realities one wonders whether evil, and its responsibility, has any meaning at all... So, if it is an ontological necessity that every possibility be realized what could the term 'evil' possibly mean? One comes away from the books of Seth (or Roberts) feeling that morality has been replaced by ontology, and the moral imperative -do unto others as you would have them do unto you- has been replaced by an ontological imperative - just do something. The plenitude of Being requires our continual active creation! - Which means that, for Seth, the only 'Evil' is the Nothing of non-Being cum non-activity. The position of Seth can thus be said to be an inverted Buddhism...

Loved it!!!.......2007-07-24
William Buhlman's books are the bomb diggity! I absolutely loved Secret of the Soul and Adventures Beyond the Body. Very well laid out books, easy to read and understand; and best of all, they contain personal experiences from people all over the world. By far the two best books I have read on the subject! Well done Bill!
A Fascinating and Wide-Ranging Exploration of the Out of Body Experience.......2006-11-07
I've read a large number of books on Astral Projection and this one was completely different for its range of topics. The author sent out a survey and received first-hand accounts from 16,000 people who have had various degrees of out-of-body experiences from accidental to controlled, from enjoyable to unwelcome. Buhlman lets the stories speak for themselves, and categorizes the experiences by subject: meetings and messages beyond the body, childhood OBEs, combat- and trauma-induced experiences and transformational experiences. Buhlman also discusses what can be expected from an OBE and what benefits there are.
Chapter 6 was unique in the entire literature of OBEs: could alien abductions be unexpected out-of-body experiences? Buhlman does a masterful job of analyzing the reported experiences of alien abductees and drawing parallels to the sensations of OBEs.
His "Brief History" of OBEs is an eye-opening re-examination of descriptions of the mystical experience, synthesizing historical and biblical accounts from the Egyptians through the Greeks and Tibetans, to the Christian and Sufi mystics, including Swedenborg, Yogis, Aborigines, Native Americans and Shamans. It's all too brief, serving to point the way for the reader to research further, but does argue for the ubiquitous OBE in our religions and spiritual paths.
Chapter 8, "A New Vision of Death and Dying," is another unique feature of this book in the Astral Travel library. OBEs are not dealt with as simply enjoyable anomalies in consciousness, but as life-changing spiritual experiences demanding a transformation of our definition of reality.
The "Art and Practice" section of the book deals specifically with the sensations the practitioner will feel when attempting to leave the body. The trance state is discussed, and the all-important vibrational phenomena are revisited throughout the book until they are pretty much memorized. Very few other books on Astral Projection are so detailed in their descriptions of what you can expect to feel when trying to leave the body. They may tell you what to imagine or visualize, but then you do the practices and then feel/see/hear things and wonder if you're on the right track. For example, the paralysis and vibrations that frighten many people are the very signals of an imminent OBE!
Many different visualizations are offered, and readers can choose the ones that appeal to them, or the ones that they find easiest to work with: climbing, floating, rocking, rotating, rotating, and so on.
Other techniques that may aid the reader in leaving the body are discussed briefly, from drumming and medicinal plants to meditation and brain-wave technology. A chapter on trouble-shooting is very helpful for those experiencing fear or distractions.
Like anything, Astral Projection can be learned through practice. No book can guarantee an OBE; that depends on your motivation and power of concentration, not to mention your ability to persevere through failure and learn from your mistakes. But "Secret of the Soul" is a wide-ranging and fascinating read even for earth-bound souls.
Both book and CD was fantastic !!!.......2006-09-10
This book is one of the best OBE books. You looking for OBE techniques ? You can found more than 20 in this book !!! You looking for protection techniques while OBE ? O yes, you can found them here. How about to guide some one whose dying ? You can found it here too. About similarity OBE with Alien's abduction ? Yup, it's here too....
I also will review CD version of this book. It's contains 4 CD : 1. The Christos Technique (you can find it from other OBE books). 2. The Energy Body Technique (similar with Denning-Philips and Crowleys.. transfer your consciousness to astral body). 3. The Rope Technique (read Astral Dynamics by Robert Bruce !). 4. The Shaman / Bird Technique (you can find it in Adventures Beyond the Body..the best, number one.. OBE book!). If you like practice with guiding.. this is for you. The sound (background) strong enough to direct your mind to non physical realms.
Just OK.......2006-02-27
I enjoyed Buhlman's first book more than this one. At times, the information really drags.
The best book on astral projection!.......2005-10-25
I have read several books about astral projection and found "The Secret of the Soul" to be the most practical and useful. I liked the personal stories combined with the wide selection of easy to understand how-to methods. Most other books teach only one approach for initiating out-of-body experiences and are really limited in their scope. I think this book is a must read for anyone interested in the topic.
I would like to say that in addition to reading "The Secret of the Soul", you should read "Adventures Beyond the Body" - William Buhlman's first book. There is such a wealth of knowledge and experience in these two books.

Deep, Painful Tilling in the Rugged Soil of Our Pasts ..........2007-05-02
Homecoming: Reclaiming and Championing Your Inner Child
I cannot think of another published work that deals effectively with healing the wounded inner child, like this book. Methodical and delibrate, Bradshaw explores territory unknown to our present conscious, but quite familiar to our subconscious. The earliest of memories, whether peripheral, non-descript "gut" feelings or vivid, clear, sensory-engaged recollections, can be stirred up with the meditations and mental exercises outlined by Bradshaw.
Those that are considering purchasing this book, and are reading the reviews to help your decision process, probably already discussed this with a trained spiritual counselor to truly do the work necessary, to undo years of damage in early childhood that somehow manifested itself into inappropriate social behaviors (misplaced anger or rage, attention-seeking, sexualized friendships, marital infidelity, covert sex, pornography), defense mechanisms (disassociation, projection, passing blame or guilt) and addictions (chemical, sexual dependencies). Emotional wounds sustained at such an innocent age really cannot be healed properly until an emotionally healthy parent, particularly a fully-functioning, fit mother, can teach proper coping skills that later fully develop and become integrated into adulthood. Some of us have not been as fortunate to have a parent, much less two, that offered appropriate emotional guidance. Those that need innerchild work done, are those that were raised by damaged parents and damage is passed onto their children as abuse, whether sexual, emotional, physical, and/or spiritual. Proper intervention is required to recalibrate the wiring in emotionally unstable adults and get them up to their appropriate EQ.
In doing the innerchild work, I caution those that try to accomplish this in solitude. The person in meditation may not know how to cope with the unearthed emotions (typically strong feelings of shame, guilt, and fear of unknown origin) unless a properly trained spiritual counselor provides enough guidance and tools to cope with the unpleasant, repressed feelings. It is also important to conduct the tasks in the order Bradshaw has outlined - Start at the infancy stage, do the meditation, and work on the emotions that surface, if at all. The best indication of how much damage was done to an individual is if the first task meditating at the infancy stage evokes a surge of unknown feelings. Then the work needed to get healthy requires the entire process suggested by Bradshaw. Skipping a chapter/exercise is not an option if the goal is to get emotionally fully integrated and healthy.
In closing, this book is really a new beginning to properly train and socialize a wounded adult back into society, the workplace, family life. Essentially, the process is likened to that of an infant learning to crawl, stand, walk, and explore the world around them, with the loving and caring guidance that lacked in childhood. Bradshaw also includes a section on forgiving and releasing resentment and bitterness of the perpetrator(s) of the emotional damage. I've witnessed miracles of healing because of the innerchild methodology, in lock-step with spiritual rebirth. Many times, the latter is overlooked when in fact the two complement each other in the healing and deliverance of an addicted, depressed adult. The spiritual aspect is alluded to, but not expounded upon, by Bradshaw. However, this omission does not affect the overall success of the process. I still give the book Five Stars and would recommend this to anyone in need of deep healing.

A very important book, essential for the therapist.... The defining book of the the inner child movement.......2006-12-10
This book really started the inner child movement and to this day forms the basis of nearly all therapists training and approach to the inner child - its influence has been that strong, so many years later. This and Bradshaw's other books on Shame and The Family (which I also recommend if you want a grounding in this area) grew out of the addiction recovery movement including the 12 steps programs and have strongly influenced his approach. This of course, comes from the author's personal experiences of alcohol addiction and the recovery movement which no doubt 'saved his life' as they have done for tens of thousands of people worldwide. I've personally done 12 steps programs, therapy, therapist training and have received much, much benefit from each of them and even though they're not the models of healing though that I personally use today (I use more spiritual approach), these are tools I'd highly recommend.
One of the most important points with respect to this book is that it's not about understanding your past so much as resolving it and that involves deeply, ingrained and repressed emotional issue. You're highly unlikely to touch these issues by reading the book, in fact, you're more likely to have new knowledge to prevent you from actually experiencing the emotions that are repressed. It's simply a whole new ball game to do this work in front of a supporting other person as anyone who has done that will tell you. Consider this - can you even cry in front of a stranger without other emotions coming up (e.g. shame)? How would it feel for you tell someone, e.g. a therapist of your experiences, pains and traumas from your childhood? I think you can quickly see that this is a whole different domain than reading a book and getting some more information.
I think its essential to do this work with a properly trained therapist - WHO HAS DONE THEIR OWN INNER WORK (many in the field have not. I know because I've been in therapist training programs with people (including 'trained' practicing psychologists) who have done and continue to do little or no ongoing inner work). I've also done an inner child workshop that I walked out of half way through as the trainer was simply unqualified to run it and projected his own fears, beliefs, unresolved issues and shame onto the participants who were in the vulnerable inner child state.
That stated, if you're training in the field, it's an essential work to read, period. I'd also get the tape recordings available through Amazon's partner Audible as they do have processes on them as well and it is helpful for review purposes to be able to listen to the work. Moreover, the author personally sells dozens of tape sets including the very useful PBS series on video. You will note in these recordings that he becomes very evangelical at times... these recordings are quite old!
The book, it's grounded on the 12 steps and addiction recovery movement as you will see. It starts out with describing the process of wounding (be careful here, while the awareness is important it's simply not enough to understand how you were wounded). The second part has steps for reclaiming your inner wounded child, the author has a model that works through a series of stages from the earliest woundings of the infant self to the much older school age self and has a series of dialogues, steps and exercises to 'recover' from each period of wounding. He says they have to be done in order. Exercises include meditations, journalling, affirmations, emotional release work, writing, feelings work, work alone and with partners. Many of these exercises will be ones your therapist has done or trained in.
The book finishes with suggetions and valuable exercises for championing your inner child, that is, taking ongoing care of it.
If you're a therapist in training, this is essential reading. If not, and you want to do the work on your own, I'd suggest talking with someone trained in the profession first before doing this as actually know the exercises and theories can contaminate your experience of them and therefore reduce their power and effectiveness. I know, as an avid reader and someone who's 'in their head' a lot, that was my tendency when beginning my 'recovery' (as it was called in those days). The reason is that you 'know' how and why and by whom you were wounded, you think you 'know' what a process is about and trying to achieve, or that you 'know' what a therapist wants to hear... making it incredibly difficult to get to the emotions and do the real work, which is raw, vulnerable and most of all, real.
I later decided for my emotional and body work therapy that I would not read anything about the underlying ideas until I'd experienced it. It made the process probably more challenging as I had to let go and trust, yet I'm very glad I did.
Good luck and best wishes to you in your healing journey and your life.
Must-read for all those whose childhoods were less than perfect, and that's most of us.......2006-02-21
John Bradshaw does a beautiful job showing how we all carry a historical "inner child," the child we really were. When that child did not get the love and nurturance that it needed, it will either act out or act in later in our adult years. Bradshaw brilliantly shows the many ways in which the inner child got hurt and how it continues to contaminate our adult lives, unless and until we take steps to heal it. This book does not dwell on self-pity or blame; rather it focuses on understanding what happened, why it happened, and then dedicates the majority of the pages to a constructive approach to healing the inner child so that we can live a full, happy life.
