Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Book Description
Hilla and Bernd Becher's cool, objective photographs of industrial structures have earned them a special position in international photography. Although their work is widely collected by American dealers and institutions and shown in New York galleries, this is the first time that it has been published in book form in the United States.
The Bechers' 224 photographs of watertowers comprise a unique, single minded, even obsessive mission. They were taken from as many as 8 angles, over a period of 25 years, with a stylistic approach so consistent that photographs juxtaposed from the 1950s and 1980s suggest a minute to minute account deadpan portraits of unadorned metal, concrete, and wooden structures.
Always taken in overcast skier, or in the hazy sunlight of industrial zones, these seemingly artless photographs belle the elaborate process and decisions involved in creating them elevating the camera on scaffolds or ladders, waiting for clouds to block the sun, enlisting the cooperation of plant foreman and security guards to remove all signs of human life from the scene.
The Bechers refer to their photographs as "typology" or "typologies of topographies," situated between established categories such as art and photography. Their work is distancing, deliberately unglamorous, departing from the usual style of architectural photography. Almost everything they photograph is eventually demolished.
Hilla and Bernd Becher began their collaborative enterprise in 1957, when they did a study of workers' houses in their native Germany. Through the years, their extensive documentation of industrial landscapes has taken them outside of Germany to France, England, Scotland, Wales, Holland, and the United States. The Bechers follow in a distinguished line of German photographers active in the Rhineland, including August Sander, Albert Renger-Patzsch, and Werner Manz, all of whom contributed in different ways to the definition of "objective" photography.
Customer Reviews:
Repetition and Typology.......2003-02-04
These are beautiful photos of seemingly mundane structures--parts of our landscape, ignorable yet indispensible to our lives.
The Bechers photographed these architectural objects from the same position (slightly elevated, and just above the vantage point an observer would have) and under the same lighting conditions (usually overcast skies, which blends the texture of the surfaces into the sky). The clinical feeling which initially results quickly dissolves as the details loom large. An excellent work of photography and a typology of industrial practice.
Stark, beautiful industrial photography.......2000-10-07
The Bechers have been documenting the aging world of the industrial age for decades. Their beautiful, unadorned and repetitious images are a mirror held up to the paradoxical existence of mankind's seemingly endless capacity for building, improving, compositing, developing, using, wasting and ultimately discarding the planet we live on. The Becher's photography allows these relics to speak for themselves without politicizing or disenfranchisement. These watertowers, photographed throughout Europe and North America, appear in formal portraiture in frame after frame, page after page, relentlessly. There are hundreds of them... And though the end result is one of post-modern ubiquity, the induvidual frames, when studied, unfold each watertower's unique story - whether built of cement or iron, tall or short, set on field stones or soaring on towering pylons. They attest an odd dignity, an assertion that they have their rightful place in this world despite their relative obsolescence. A beautiful book, challenging yet very formal, evocative and indicative without being biased or self-conscious. The Bechers show us an unfiltered, clear view into a dying part of our culture's heritage - that of the man-made industrial landscape.
Barren Beauty.......2000-06-20
This book will be an inspiration to anyone who can recognize beauty in the most unconventional surroundings. The subject matter chosen by the artists fills the picture plane with a sense of isolation. The landscape, weather, and tower all blend to create a lifeless industrial portrait. No individual is evident in any of the photographs, yet we understand that man had his hand in all the photographer is capturing. The water towers were all created by humans however we are intentionally removed from the portraits to allow the viewer to focus on the architectural beauty of these structures. This book is a wonderful visual presentation of the water tower and it's many forms.

Book Description
"Why mess around with Catholicism when you can have your own customized religion?"
Fed up with his parents' boring old religion, agnostic-going-on-atheist Jason Bock invents a new god -- the town's water tower. He recruits an unlikely group of worshippers: his snail-farming best friend, Shin, cute-as-a-button (whatever that means) Magda Price, and the violent and unpredictable Henry Stagg. As their religion grows, it takes on a life of its own. While Jason struggles to keep the faith pure, Shin obsesses over writing their bible, and the explosive Henry schemes to make the new faith even more exciting -- and dangerous.
When the Chutengodians hold their first ceremony high atop the dome of the water tower, things quickly go from merely dangerous to terrifying and deadly. Jason soon realizes that inventing a religion is a lot easier than controlling it, but control it he must, before his creation destroys both his friends and himself.
Customer Reviews:
Thought-provoking, indeed.......2007-08-22
I think it's hard for anyone to come away from "Godless" without having put the book down at least once during the read and have gone, "Huh...". It's a thoroughly thought-provoking book, from the initial characters to the ending. It's not the kind of story where every page has action and big things exploding. Interestingly enough, the sort of action that happens at the end is the second wave. The feel of a climax happens in the middle, though the end certainly has its drama and power.
Many books have been thought-provoking without being incredible. But "Godless" is a readable book. It's not choppy, it's not boring, and it doesn't have TOO much crammed into it. It all felt incredibly realistic and plausible. The characters felt like real teenagers I might meet, the ideas they came up with felt silly enough to be young, but thought out enough to be adult, and every page made me want to keep reading. The only thing that made me want to put the book down was the constant thoughts I kept getting, about religion, friendship, and history. Okay, there were a few other thoughts there as well, but this book just made me THINK, and that's a huge plus.
It helps that it's well-written. It helps that it's interesting. It helps that the characters breathe and live. It's a book with messages, a book to make you think, and book you can just enjoy. It's simply a great book.
Definitely recommended.
It's just a religion. Right?.......2007-02-14
15-year-old Jason Bock and his friend Peter Stephen Schinner (AKA Shin) are scrounging around the town's water tower when Henry Stagg shows up with his fists and an attitude. That single event, combined with Jason's antagonism toward his parents Catholic religion, leads Jason and Shin to create their own religion. The Ten-Legged One watches over the town, pumping life through the piped veins of the city, so why not worship the life giver?
Why mess around with Catholicism when you can have your own customized religion? All you need is a disciple or two. And a god.
Cleverly dispersed throughout the opening pages of the chapters, the myth of The Ocean and the secrets of their religion grow and mutate. Chutengodianism is born and spreads. Friends join. Sides are drawn. The water tower becomes the focus of their lives, the center of their adventures, the bane of their existence.
Resonating with the spirit of great works like Orwell's ANIMAL FARM, Hautman's ludicrous tale raises important questions about religion. Who or what defines religion? Is religion a good thing? And what happens when religion is taken too far?
After all, people shouldn't make such a big deal out of it. It's just a religion. Right?

A great read by Henry from Richmond.......2007-01-03
Godless was a great book about a boy named Jason Bock and his summer vacation he spent with his friends. In the first chapter of the book you come on to three characters: the main character Jason but also his best friend Shin (Peter Stephen Schinner). Henry is a boy who likes to always make trouble, he is the kid that there always is in a story that grew up in a bad environment and loves to pick fights. But shin on the other hand is totally different, he is very quiet and shy, and when ever he gets mad or embarrassed he does what the author explained as "going into his shell" and wouldn't talk or anything. In the first scene of the book you find three of the biggest characters in the biggest seen in the books, but for now Jason and shin are searching for snails in this place under the water tower. When henry comes around and punches Jason in the gut.
This book is strongly based on Jason and his religion and how he takes it to a whole new level. But it starts out about his Christian religion and how he doesn't believe in god, so he makes up his own beliefs and even his own religion known as "the Chutengodians" and worship the water tower in the center of the town known as " the ten legged one".
His two other friends in the book are cute as a button Magda Price and Dan Grant that normal nothing-special friend that every one has. But as this religion gets bigger so does the danger. Especially at the first meeting when they plan to climb to the top of the tower.
A Great Book for Pre-Teens who Question Religion.......2006-11-03
I loved this book. Simply loved it. Everyone had such a personality. I never expected Henry to be so nice to Jason when Jason was at Henry's house. Shin, I never thought he would get so mad at Jason for letting Henry join. I knew he would be mad, but not that mad. Another surprise was when Henry hit Jason, giving him a concussion at the end of the book. I would recommend this to anyone of the ages 12, 13, and 14, but not younger because of the language. That's another reason why I loved it, because it was directed to my age level, so I could understand the situations.
Godless, reviewed by Martin.......2006-11-02
With lightning striking beneath their toes Shin and Jason dive into a pool of cold yet refreshing water. Godless is a thrilling adventure exploring the territory of the big mystery of religion. This book deserves big props, because it is a very fun book and it also ponders on how religion affects teenager's lives. It was very exciting when the kids climbed the water tower and encounter the darkness and a feeling of helplessness.
The author established his characters very well. When Henry climbed the water tower I got the impression he was a rebel teenager who was sort of lost. With Shin, the author's first little paragraph about him told me immediately what type of kid he was. Later in the book he did surprise me with his insane deep devotion to the water tower.
Another great thing about this book was that I felt like I could relate to the characters. As a teen myself I know how puzzling the world can be and what a challenge it can be to form your own beliefs. You don't know what to believe or whom to believe. This book reminded me that I am not alone in the quest for answers. I would call this a must read for teens because this book had it all. It had action, a strong storyline, and deep thought.
There were minor flaws in the book. I thought the author put in too much of his own views but overall it was definitely a good read. This is a great book for teens and parents with teens.

Lots of Discussion but Few Measures.......2000-07-30
First, I have returned this book. I did not completely read it, but rather skimmed through and was disappointed with my findings. It is pitched at a comparatively elementary level, not the quantitative measures of benefit to a process engineer. In general the teaching presented, which appeared to be little, was inconsistent with the content implied by the title.

Customer Reviews:
No what I was expecting .......2007-01-07
In my opinion the author is not familiar with the subject, the book is more like a general thermodynamics' overview of the chilled water process without touching the mechanical part of it, if you are looking for an in-depth technical explanation about different chillers types keep on looking, this is not your book.

Chemical Treatment for Cooling Water.......2007-05-14
This book discusses the economics of water use in cooling towers, and presents a technical but easy to understand review of an advanced technology that permits significant gains in water conservation. The three goals of water treatment-scale control, corrosion control, and control of biological fouling-are examined to show how all three can easily and effectively be handled with a technology that allows a system to operate with zero forced bleed to the sewer. The book details the application and economics of this technology in specific types of cooling tower settings. The analysis clearly illustrates that when all factors are considered, and the right technology is in use, it is just as logical and cost-effective to operate a cooling tower at very high cycles of concentration as it is to use a heavy bleed. Specific topics include water conservation, pollution control requirements, corrosion prevention, management of toxic polluting biocides, and comparison of alternative technologies.

teriffic book.......2006-07-04
this is incredibly eerie for a kids book. very good concept behind the story; simple, yet as previous reviews state raises many questions and possibilities.
really good illustrations aswell. i read it years ago for the first time and havent forgotten it since.
Sinister...with a sequel.......2005-04-28
I love this book - it is so clever and stirs emotions of confusion within the reader so easily. The only thing that I didn't like about it when I first read it, was that it raised so many questions that I had nowhere to find an answer to! Well never fear, make sure you read the sequel - BENEATH THE SURFACE. It shows how the watertower affects the world. Truly breathtaking storytelling.
A book of a mysterious tale.......2004-11-18
The Water Tower is different from any other picture book I have ever read. This book shows what boys will do if they are left alone with a water tower. The Water Tower is rather bizarre and you really have to think in order to get the point of conquering your fears. It starts out with two boys that want to go to swim in the eerie old water tower that sits on the top of Shooters Hill. The boys go up the water tower, but only one has the guts to go swimming in it. The pictures are well drawn and help you understand what is going on in the book. There are some hidden things throughout the book you have to look out for, so keep your eyes open. Overall, this is a great book and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. I would rate this book a 4 out of 5 stars because it was too short.
Eerie but fun.......2002-12-31
This eerie tale will keep the reader intrigued long after finishing the book. In the town of Preston, an old rusting water tower stands on the edge of a hill. Two boys decide to go inside for a swim on a sweltering summer day. What happens inside is a mystery, but one of the boys is forever changed.
This 1995 Australian Picture Book of the Year winner uses the contrast between colorful illustrations and black background to great effect. In a twist on the usual picture book, the illustrations tell the real story, while the text provides the background information.
What a great puzzle. This is the kind of book that I could not stop thinking about, even long after I read it. This is an engaging book for adults as well as for children.
The Watertower keeps them interested.......2000-06-23
This book has kept the students in my grade 4/5 class at Acton School in Burnie, Tasmania captivated throughout this whole week. At first when I read it to them they picked up that the town residents eyes were funny looking but on further investigation they found many other peculiarities in the story. They were crowding around the book trying to see the different pictures and solve the mystery.
Erin says her favourite part was when Bubba came out of the tank and Spike wants him to show him his hand. Bubba says "No" because his mum would be worried however at the beginning he says that his mum would not care!
Alaster says that his favourite part of the book is solving all the mysteries.
Laura says her favourite part of the book was the picture of Bubba's face up close.
Melissa Lowry agrees with Erin that the part where Bubba came out of the Watertower is her favourite. Actually most of the class agrees that this part was the best. I think this is because it began all the questioning about the story.
Aaron and Matthew say that the mystery is related to the pitchfork that is seen on all pages.
We will be continuing to use Gary Crew books for language and drama work. We would love to hear from any one who has solved the mysteries in the story or of any activities you have been doing in the classroom. Thanks. .............
