3 out of 5 stars Great ideas to get your creative juices flowing.......2004-11-12

I got this book from the library prior to commiting to buying it. After ordering 8 books from Amazon this one wasn't one of them. Most of the ideas are too darn "cutsie" for me (i.e. cropping your baby's photos and putting mouse or bunny ears and whiskers is my definition of "cutsie"--not my style of scrapbooking, I'm not here to offend anybody who prefers this). The back of the book has lettering patterns and title ideas which anybody may find on numerous websites such as scrapbooking.com. I suggest this book is great for those begginers who need ideas for baby scrapbook themes: Documenting pre- & post-pregnancy, baby's firsts, baby's nursery, etc. It does not have much explanation on how the pages were constructed, but for my own sake I usually don't follow step-by-step,visualizing the parts of a layout from the photo itself. This book may be good for a beginner, but more advanced scrapbookers might find it too outdated.

3 out of 5 stars Decent idea book, but hard to replicate what you see........2004-01-20

There's a ton of pages to look at, but not as much information about technique as some other books I've seen. If you're already into scrapbooking and just need some fresh ideas, this could be helpful.

5 out of 5 stars Good creative ideas.......2003-01-25

I have been scrapbooking for years now and with baby #1 on the way wanted some additional creative ideas. This book does have some great ideas of varying complexity and documenting some of those moments that I may have not thought of. I recommend this for anyone doing baby pages.

5 out of 5 stars Loved it!.......2002-06-04

This was a great idea book. Get this book before your baby even arrives to help give you pointers on what to take pictures of and things to keep for your scrapbook. Plus, it helps pass the time by! After my baby was born I still had "fetal-brain-drain" and needed ideas for page layouts. In the back there are ideas for page titles and poems to include in your baby's book. Well worth the money......

5 out of 5 stars I just love it!.......2002-02-01

This book is great! It has wonderful ideas for putting together all the baby pictures. I would recommend it to anyone!

Book Description

If art imitates life, then art could probably use a good vacuuming. That is, if you're talking about life around the MacPherson house. With three kids under the age of eight, things couldn't get much busier for Darryl and Wanda, who have been saturating the comics pages with dead-on family humor for a decade and a half.

Creators Rick Kirkman and Jerry Scott have a special talent for distilling the essence of children, families, and married couples into a comic strip that, in frame after frame and strip after strip, creates a world that's both amusing and enlightening, in large part because their work mirrors our own experiences so closely. "Did you see the latest Baby Blues?" is one of the most-often asked questions among the strip's daily following of 40 million fans. "It looks just like us!"

Great reading! Good for parents who have very small amounts of personal space! Be prepared for lots of laughter coming from the closed bathroom door!

4 out of 5 stars Keeping up with the kids.......2007-01-10

This was a great collection of strips. You can see the natural and humorous growth of Zoe, Hammie and baby Wren, who keep Wanda and Darryl constanstly on their toes and in the grocery store. I have always loved Baby Blues and will be sad to see them "grow up"....like the kids in For Better Or For Worse. That's when you know a strip is darn great...when you think of the characters as real and you can really relate to their daily "lives". Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!

5 out of 5 stars Something Chocolate This Way Comes: A Baby Blues Collection (Baby Blues Scrapbook #21).......2006-08-06

I bought this book for my wife, because she loves chocolate and we have raised two kids. It is a very funny book. It should be read while eating chocolate too.

5 out of 5 stars Wow.......2006-07-12

I can't believe the longevity of this strip and how it has stayed consistantly funny. When it first came out I found it really amusing as it dealt with the pitfalls of being a parent with a baby/children. Now all these years later, they are on their third child and the jokes are fresh and still very amusing. Baby Blues is an excellent series for the young and older fans.

5 out of 5 stars Something Chocolate This Way Comes Review.......2006-06-29

I loved this new Baby Blues collection. It simply had me in tears. I liked it when Wren bumped her chin, the Hammie got greenstick fracture, then Zoe got bruised knuckles, and Darryl sprang his ankle. It was a hilarious Baby Blues story. I recommend this collection to anyone who wants to laugh.

Book Description

The first year of a baby's life is a wondrous time, with each day bringing new changes and emotions. This journal goes above and beyond the traditional baby book, recognizing the journey that mother and child embark on together. Guided prompts throughout allow a new mom to record all the precious moments of baby's development, and also to reflect on what these milestones stir within her. There's also room to add pictures and other mementos.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars I love this book!.......2005-10-13

This book is beautifully laid out, thoughtfully and tastefully written. It is a baby book which encourages thoughtful reflection and feeling far beyond simply pasting pictures and jotting down when baby did what. Of course it leaves plenty of room for pictures (as the author is also a photographer, with rich displays of her work throughout the book accompanied by touching quotes)and all the details of baby's firsts.
The book is durable and easy to flip through with its spiral binding. A great gift. All in all one of the lovliest baby books on the market!

4 out of 5 stars A few too many pages.......2005-07-25

I received this book as a gift when I was pregnant...I do have a lot of good things to say about it. It has a very clear format and a lot of options. In my opinion there are a few too many pages in it...there are like 30 pages for ultrasounds and prenatal visits...I just didn't have that many things to say...You go and have an ultrasound and you start gaining weight..you can only write that down so many times!
The book does have many pages for thoughts from friends and spaces for pictures and ideas for the nursery as well as many pages for the baby shower. It's worth the money definitely! There are some pages in it as well for writing a letter for your child to read years down the road...i just love that idea!

5 out of 5 stars Great Gift for New Parents.......1999-12-30

Ditto the previous review about this hilarious book. I have given it several times as gifts to new Moms. It really helped me cope when someone gave it to me with my first child. It really does help you laugh at the frustrations and not feel like you are alone in experiencing them!

5 out of 5 stars THIS BOOK IS GREAT!!!!!!!.......1999-06-30

This book is great. . . I love this book. I started reading this book yesterday. I read a little of it and then a little later my Mom read me the whole thing. This book is hilarious and funny. And my Mom said that some of those jokes happened to her with me.

5 out of 5 stars A must for any new or about to be new parents!.......1997-08-04

What a great book! If you thought "What to expect when your expecting" was telling you everything, THINK AGAIN! Every cartoon has something for the new (or old) parent. I laughed so hard when reading this book, it actually started my labor. The antics of Zoe really prepared me for my own child, and I enjoy every one of the Baby Blues books over and over as my child grows. When I feel that life is overwhelming with my baby, I read one of these books and suddenly, it all comes into focus, because obviously other parents have gone through the same thing. I have purchased these books for other mom's or mom's to be that I know, and they're great books for a baby shower

Book Description

By their third child, most folks have parenting figured out and could teach Dr. Spock a thing or two. Yeah, right! Baby Blues is back with even more of the hilarious trials and tribulations of the growing young MacPherson family. Two Plus One Is Enough is the latest collection of the stupendously popular comic strip, which appears in nearly 900 newspapers and 20 periodicals, with 40 million fans. Baby Wren is raising the chaos level in the MacPherson household to a new level as Zoe and Hammie compete as only siblings can. Parents Darryl and Wanda somehow keep up their good humor despite a tight budget, their mischievous but adorable older children, and a wailing infant.Precocious Zoe's learning to read-and to point out the inconsistencies in children's books. After Zoe reads about a bear, Wanda corrects her. "That word is 'dog,' not 'bear.'" Zoe astutely observes that the picture looks like a dog: "So which is spelled right' The word or the picture'" Zoe asks. And Hammie must make sure his baby sister isn't gaining on him, in age or in weight. Two Plus One Is Enough offers plenty of laughs from one of America's favorite families.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Great Gift.......2005-10-24

Mom's and Mom's to be will find it an indespensible source of humor.

3 out of 5 stars Welcome to the very conserative world of nuclear families........2004-06-09

This is the world where all men are dorky, guilt-driven daddies with soft, jelly-like bellies. This is the world where all women are milk-gushing baby machines. And this is the world where all spoiled, smart-mouthed rugrats rule. And of course, this world is filled with playgrounds, mini-vans, and slobbering dogs that no one can ever get out.

Once again, Wanda has popped out still another baby (to keep the baby strip going, of course) and this one baby probably would remain a baby for all eternity to come, unless Wanda is willing enough to birth 20 more babies to support the cartoonists for the rest of their natural lives. However, I still love the rather cynical bite added to such a harried, closed-in family life of endless cleaning up, changing filthy diapers, soothing colicky demands, pumping dairy products from private parts, enduring catty competition with a next-door bimbo who bragged about spawning a double order of male heirs (and remaining svelte to boot), and finally dropping off womb fruits at a place called "kindergarten" for the first time. Family fun for the conserative readers who all live by the same old traditions as their ancient baby-boomer ancestors.

And neither Zoe, nor Hamface are wiggly little infants anymore - they are now big-headed little midgets to add more cute, cute, cute than ever to the whole mess!;)

5 out of 5 stars Two Plus One Equals Lots of Laughs.......2004-05-06

The McPhersons are in a period of adjustment. Baby Wren has arrived, and Zoe and Hammie haven't quite figured out where they fit in the family any more. Plus, they want everything to be fair for all three of them, even though they are growing and facing different things. For example, Hammie is going to his first sleep over. And if that isn't enough, Bunny is naming her identical twins identically. Fortunately, Wanda and Darryl are facing life with a quip and sarcasm as always.

I've always loved this strip of its real if slightly exaggerated look at every day life in a loving family. This set continues the grand tradition with more fun and laughter with this ever growing family. Every page held a smile and chuckle, with many having laugh out loud moments. Sometimes, they hit a little too close to home, but with some funny lines I appreciated.

If you need a humorous look at family life the way it really is, read this strip. And if you already know and love the McPhersons, this book is exactly what you're looking for to get the next chapter in the life of this funny family.

5 out of 5 stars Great baby shower gift! .......2007-03-18

The Hello Baby! Baby Book is a much more creative, sophisticated keepsake journal than any I have ever seen. We received it as a gift at a baby shower and we love it; we know our daughter will appreciate it when she's old enough to wonder about her first year. The illustrations by Eunice Moyle are beautiful and original. The book blends pages to record memories, such as baby's first smile or baby's first tooth, with pages for photos and other keepsake material. It also does not overwhelm parents with too much to do, important for new, busy, sleep-deprived parents. I highly recommend it!

Ever since I became pregnant,I have read and enjoyed all of the Baby Blues books. Every so often, I even go back to the first book and start all over again...although seeing what Wanda and Daryl go through, I don't think I'm ready for my second child yet. (My daughter is 3 1/2) But I must say, this is true to life. If you're thinking about children, you must read the whole series to understand what you will be in for.

I'm a Baby Blues reader. I've read every book twice at least. This is no doubt the best one

I started this strip several years ago, went back and read it from the start, and absolutely love it! It is one of my all-time favorite strips along with CALVIN AND HOBBES. If Mr. Kirkman and Mr. Scott take the suggestion that another reader-reviewer has made and retire, I promise that I'll throw a fist-pounding, foot-kicking, ear-numbing temper tantrum worthy of Zoe and Hammie combined! :)

Seriously though, BABY BLUES is wonderful entertainment. When I think of all the adventures in parenting that Darryl and Wanda have had over the years (from visits with Santa to visits to Cowboy Monkey Band Land) I just start giggling in fond remembrance. Someday I hope I can be half the parent these two are!

Read BABY BLUES. It's a feel-good treat that never gets sappy.

3 out of 5 stars This series is starting to run out of steam.......1999-04-19

I have all the previous 10 Baby Blues albums and would give every one of them five stars. But judging by this very uneven collection, the authors are starting to run out of steam. The problem is that the older Zoe gets, the more she encroaches upon the territory which rightly belongs to Calvin and Hobbes. Perhaps a well-timed retirement would be the best solution

5 out of 5 stars Another Hit!!!.......1999-03-11

The creators of Baby Blues have done it again! They bring the humorous side to family life alive! Wanda, Darrel, Zoe and Hammie are back to tickle your funny bone. If you read the daily strips and or a collector of comic strip art don't miss this latest installment of the McPherson family. Kirkman and Scott have a real touch what is going on in the American family. Hmm wonder where they get their ideas from? Can you guess? So I hope anyone who has kids and those who don't will buy this book....its well worth it! Thanks from Las Vegas NT
