Book Description

EXCUSE ME, YOUR LIFE IS WAITING: THE ASTONISHING POWER OF FEELINGS picks up where most positive thinking books have left off, giving us the rather startling new information that every moment of our lives is governed by our EMOTIONS, not by luck, or hard work, or circumstance, or good thoughts, or visualization.

The material in EXCUSE ME has never been told before, because it was never known before, and clarifies why the majority of us have lived with all-too-empty bank accounts, tough relationships, failing health, and often spiritually unfulfilling lives.

In her upbeat, humorous, and somewhat irreverent style, author Lynn Grabhorn (who increased her income 830% in one year using these principles) shows us how, with this astonishing new data, to turn it all around and create the kind of life we've always dreamed of...not ten years from now, but RIGHT NOW.

Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars Law of Attraction does not work.......2007-10-01

I absolutely love this book, I have read it several times but the entire premise is flawed.

In chapter six she writes that she "hired a salesperson that was more into lack than I was (naturally; that was all I could attract)" and at the bottom of the same page she writes "It was somewhere right around that emotional low when a bunch of my all-too-enthusiastic friends began insisting I look into this material they had gotten hold of about the Law of Attraction".

Those two sentences are contradictory. If the only thing that she could attract was someone focusing on lack, how would it be possible for her to attract her friends that were focusing on abundance. If the Law of Attraction were a law of the universe, as she states, either she would attract one but not the other. She can't have both.

While I love her story and the inspiration of how things can be turned around in one's life at the drop of a hat, I love the explanation that conditions and circumstances are unimportant, and I have no doubt that her experiences were true and that the "suit of well being" where nothing can harm you is possible, I cannot believe that it came about by using the Law of Attraction. It would have been violated for her to get the information to her in the first place.

I believe that what happened was that the Expanded Self, as she calls, just got tired of playing with the situation that it had created and just created a totally different scenario, only it used the Law of Attraction as an excuse to do so, and make her think that the Law of Attraction was responsible for her turnaround when it has no value whatsoever.

5 out of 5 stars A Life-changing Book.......2007-08-30

Once in a few years you come across a book which has a life-changing impact. This is one of them. The changes in my life as a result of reading it are profound. A few months after reading the book, I am still implementing the ideas and manifesting amazing results. In the last twenty or more years I have read an enormous amount of self-help books, many of them dealt with Reality Creation. This books most definitely gets the first prize. If, like me, you have been reading many books and still not experiencing any significant changes in your reality, this book is the biggest present you could give yourself. Buy it and watch the miracles come marching into your life.

5 out of 5 stars Real changes.......2007-08-09

I have already experienced amazing changes and dreams coming true. And having a positive attitude everyday seems to make the day better and people do respond to the positive energy. I particularly liked the way Lynn wrote the book-like she is talking to you. I have suggested this book to my family and friends. Especially those who always seem to only think negatively.

5 out of 5 stars Helped me change my life!.......2007-07-23

This is a wonderful book. It has helped me change the way I view life and how I project those feelings. My life has made a chage for the positive, and I hope to stay on the "positive thoughts" most, if not all of the time.

5 out of 5 stars Excuse Me, Your Life Is Waiting: The Astonishing Power of Feelings.......2007-07-19

You get what you want out of life, exactly what you want. Why aren't you rich and famous with that special someone hanging on your every word? The answer is so simple that it's maddening. Thought manifests form. In other words, whatever you think about that's what you create in your life.

There's good news and bad news to this life changing discovery. First the bad news. Most of us spend the majority of our day drawing to us exactly what we don't want. I hope that my boss doesn't call me on getting my project done late. I hope my son remembered his homework. I can't pay my bills this month, there's never enough money. My lover is really pissing me off, I wish he'd apologize. In that negative frame of mind, constantly focused on what we want changed, we tend to draw the same events, the same people, and the same unhappiness to ourselves.

The good news is that we can change. We can figure out what we don't want and change our way of thinking to get what we do want. The result is an instant change from a pessimistic outlook to that of unlimited optimism. Life changing indeed. Check it out.

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful tool for ages 5 and up!.......2007-09-19

I have to say that all 3 of my children have been helped by us navigating this book together. I homeschool them and each has had 'worries' about one thing or another that they have been ruminating over. We just started a garden this year (growing tomatoes) so this book was PERFECT for us because the author uses the analogy of a tomato plant that you water and care for every day producing a HUGE bumper crop of tomatoes.. and the worries that you give much time and thought to every day 'taking over' your time and thoughts. It was especially helpful when we got to the chapter about setting aside 'worry time' for each child each day and working through their worries using logic. All 3 of my children (ages 5, 8 1/2 and 10) have reduced their worry time / anxiety since we began our 'group study' of this book. We are still working through it.. and it is GREAT!

5 out of 5 stars A Great Resource.......2007-09-08

As a therapist I am always looking for new resources. This is one of the best for treating anxiety. I had one child this week say "did you type this just for me?" because it resonated so well.
Check out Ms. Huebner's other books on OCD and Depression--they are great too!

5 out of 5 stars A must-have resource!.......2007-08-13

I highly recommend this book for social workers/therapists and other professionals who work with children. It is definitely kid-friendly; my clients have been open to using this book because it feels more like a fun activity rather than "therapy".

5 out of 5 stars very helpful book.......2007-07-14

This book is an excellent resource for the professional or parent of a child with anxiety difficulties. It explains the various ways that a child can less the effects of anxiety in child appropriate language with places for the child to customize his or her feelings and thoughts. Very well done.

5 out of 5 stars Kids can relate to the ideas in the book........2007-07-10

When your child's anxiety overtakes and consumes their joy, you'd buy 200 books if they'd help your child to feel better. Don't buy 200 books... BUY THIS ONE for your child.

My daughter is 9, but reads at 8th grade level, so I was a bit apprehensive about getting this book for her; fearing she'd think it was too baby-ish. Much to my surprise and delight, she loves the book! She says "I love the pictures. It's kind of funny and I like that it has activities to do. The book has good ideas about how to fix my worries."

The book does have great kid-friendly concepts like: Worry Time and Worry Bully, with places to draw and write down thoughts. It not only addresses how worries can take over, but empowers kids to fight back and reassures them that when they do, the worries will get smaller and smaller, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY...LOSE THEIR POWER OVER YOUR CHILD.

The book talks about the positives of getting rid of worries, like giving kids more time to play with their friends instead of worrying. Simple concepts perhaps, but written in a way that kids relate. The concepts are ones that both kids and parents can easily remember and refer to, which also helps when the Worry Bully shows up unexpectedly.

Other books that have helped my daughter:
Worried No More Worried No More - Second Edition: Help and Hope for Anxious Children by Aureen Wagner, PHD (this is an excellent resource for Cognitive-Behavioral therapy support; workbook pages in the back...) and the meditations books for children by Maureen Garth: StarbrightStarbright--Meditations for Children, Moonbeam Moonbeam: A Book of Meditations for Children, and Earthlight Earthlight (read together before bedtime to help your child visualize a safe, quiet place before they fall asleep...).

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful updating--worth buying, even if you have the original!.......2007-08-27

Such helpful medication information, pro's and con's, comprehsinve lists of detailed dietary conflicts with certain meds. All of this added PLUS his excellent cognitive behavior therapy!

5 out of 5 stars Feel Better.......2007-08-26

This is a great "How To" book for this type of illness. Mental illness is sooo cloudy in it's diagnose and treatment but this book is very helpful. You may never talk your loved one into getting help but this book will provide some "clue" into what is needed.

5 out of 5 stars Very Practical.......2007-08-23

This book was recommended to me by a fantastic professional counselor and it has been very helpful to me. Dr. Burns has some great exercises in this book where you write down your "automatic thoughts" about anything that is causing you stress. You identify any distortions in your thinking (which are listed out for you) and then you write a new thought. I have found my depression greatly reduced as I "fix" my faulty thinking.

4 out of 5 stars Feeling Good Handbook.......2007-08-05

I have only purchased the book for one section - communication with spouse. That section was really good and informative and helped a lot. I cannot comment for the rest of the chapters.

5 out of 5 stars The Feeling Good Handbook.......2007-06-27

An excellent reference for understanding depression, anxiety and other difficulties of living life. It is also interesting to just sit down and read to get in touch with your own feelings.

Cole Matthews is angry. Angry, defiant, smug--in short, a bully. His anger has taken him too far this time, though. After beating up a ninth-grade classmate to the point of brain damage, Cole is facing a prison sentence. But then a Tlingit Indian parole officer named Garvey enters his life, offering an alternative called Circle Justice, based on Native American traditions, in which victim, offender, and community all work together to find a healing solution. Privately, Cole sneers at the concept, but he's no fool--if it gets him out of prison, he'll do anything. Ultimately, Cole ends up banished for one year to a remote Alaskan island, where his arrogance sets him directly in the path of a mysterious, legendary white bear. Mauled almost to death, Cole awaits his fate and begins the transition from anger to humility.

Ben Mikaelsen's depiction of a juvenile delinquent's metamorphosis into a caring, thinking individual is exciting and fascinating, if at times heavy-handed. Cole's nastiness and the vivid depictions of the lengths he must go to survive after the (equally vivid) attack by the bear are excruciating at times, but the concept of finding a way to heal a whole community when one individual wrongs another is compelling. The jacket cover photo of the author in a bear hug with the 700-pound black bear that he and his wife adopted and raised is definitely worth seeing! (Ages 12 and older) --Emilie Coulter

Book Description

Within Cole Matthews lie anger, rage and hate. Cole has been stealing and fighting for years. This time he caught Alex Driscal in the, parking lot and smashed his head against the sidewalk. Now, Alex may have permanent brain damage'and Cole is in the Biggest trouble of his life.

Cole is offered Circle Justice: a system based on Native American traditions that attempts to provide healing for the criminal offender, the victim and the, community. With prison as his only alternative, Cole plays along. He says he wants to repent, but in his heart Cole blames his alcoholic mom his, abusive dad, wimpy Alex -- everyone but himself -- for his situation.

Cole receives a one-year banishment to a remote Alaskan island. There, he is mauled by Mysterious white bear of Native American legend. Hideously injured, Cole waits for his death His thoughts shift from from Anger to humility. To survive, he must stop blaming others and take responsibility for his life. Rescuers arrive to save Cole's but it is the attack of the Spirit Bear that may save his soul.

Ben Mikaelsen paints a vivid picture of a juvenile offender, examining the roots without absolving solving him of responsibility for his actions, and questioning a society in which angry people make victims of their peers and communities. Touching Spirit Bear is a poignant testimonial to the power of a pain that can destroy, or lead to healing

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Story for at-risk students.......2007-09-27

I am currently using this book as a literature unit for special education students at the high school level. They are all involved and eager to read. We listen to the story on tape as well as follow along with the book. It's so interesting how quiet they become when the character describes his troubled homelife and abusive father. Although they don't say so, I feel that many of these at-risk students come from a similar background. This is just a wonderful story for them to learn about life and change in peoples' lives.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent!.......2007-07-04

Touching Spirit Bear is the story of Cole Matthews - a young man who is angry and totally lacking in compassion. The story begins as Cole Matthews is being punished for brutally beating a young boy. Following the Native American tradition of Circle Justice, Cole is being abandoned on a remote island in Alaska and must survive for a year. During that year, he is alone to contemplate his life.

This novel is not just an adventure story, but is a book of wisdom based on Native American beliefs. Once you begin to read it, you won't be able to put it down.

I have taught this book to my 8th grade students for several years now. The students love the book and learn a great deal from it. To read the book is to become part of the Circle of Justice.

5 out of 5 stars Jesse's Awesome Book Review .......2007-06-13

Picture your self alone on an small island, you're the only person that lives on this island. You have to survive on this island by yourself, and even worse you don't think you belong there. That is exactly what Cole Mathews is going through.
My first reaction to this book was that it wasn't going to be very good. I was very wrong, I really enjoyed reading this book and was rather upset when it ended.

Whether through a weird twist of fate, good friends, or bad friends, or just luck, Cole finds himself having to survive alone on a small island for a year. He has to learn to control his anger, and to be a better person before he has to leave the island, or it will be too late.

There was a part in this book where Cole is trying to escape from the island, and he tries and tries and in the end finds that he hasn't gotten any where. And it makes him so angry because he's used to being in control, he's used to being able to scare people into doing what he wants, and it starts at this point where he realizes that he isn't in control of every thing.
The theme of this book is something like; you aren't in control of every thing, you can't always get your way.

5 out of 5 stars Touching Spirit Bear.......2007-06-06

In Touching Spirit Bear, fifteen-year-old Cole Matthews has been bad for years. When Peter tells a policeman that Cole has stolen something, Cole gets revenge. But his revenge almost kills Peter. Cole goes to court and has two options, going to Circle Justice or jail. Cole chooses Circle Justice for one year. But the spirit bear comes to Cole and something bad happens to him.

I recommend this book because, it's good for people who like adventure books. It is scary, and adventurous. I think 5th graders and up can read The Touching Spirit Bear. It even teaches you something if you read it. It's a really good book and I hope a lot of people like it when they read it, and I think it should get five stars.

5 out of 5 stars Great read-aloud for the older reluctant reader!.......2007-06-03

I have suggested this book to many 11-14 year old boys who have a hard time finding a book that holds their attention. This one has always been a winner!

Book Description

Having recently emerged from the tumultuous teenage years herself, Amanda Ford saw the need for a guide to help girls learn to listen to their inner voices and think for themselves. Inspired by such popular books as Simple Abundance and The Woman's Book of Courage, her book offers support to young women as they navigate one of the most confusing and challenging times of their lives. As anyone familiar with teenagers knows, there is nothing they hate more than being told what to do or how to think by "out of touch" adults. Here's the real scoop from one who knows the score. In 365 one-page essays, Ford offers stories, information, and advice on all the important issues facing young women today: boys, dating, drinking, self-esteem, fights with friends, dealing with parents, and more. Girls will find comfort, encouragement, and insight in these pages, along with suggestions for articulating and confiding their feelings, fears, and frustrations.

4 out of 5 stars Who would have thought you could find a guide to life?.......2007-03-10

I love the day-by-day style this book is written in, and the simple, page-long answers help so much with the complicated questions a girl can have at this time in her life. I personally have made it a habit to read the day's advice on my way out the door to school, and it's really helped me to improve my outlook on life. It's also nice because it gives advice on some akward topics that a girl can be embarassed to discuss with her parents. The only downside is that some of the advice is pretty obvious, and simply common sense. Overall though, I highly recommend it to any confused teenage girl like myself. =)

5 out of 5 stars Big hit with my daughter!.......2006-02-24

I bought this for my 13-year-old. Even though the reviews were very positive, I worried about how successful of a gift it would be as my daughter is a no-nonsense girl who does not like fluff or mushiness. But she loves it! She reads it faithfully every day, and it's been a great conversation starter as she tells me about the "lesson" of the day. For her, it's just the right mixture of straight-forward talk and sensitivity without being to childish.

5 out of 5 stars Honest wisdom, great comfort, easy format.......2002-10-18

I am a family counselor and I recomend this book for my teenage clients and their parents. It is full of comfort. Like a big sister whose just been through all the trials of being a teenager herself, Amanda is able to offer a perspective that parents and other adults can't. The formate is helpful and user friendly. The reader can look up any topic in the contents and read one page or many on subjects ranging from boys, to peer pressure, to parents. This book encourages girls to listen to their own voice instead of following the crowd. It encourages each girl to make choices that satisfy themselves.

5 out of 5 stars become that person you've always admired.......2001-01-07

This wonderful book offers 366 (yes, it accounts for leap years) daily tips for living the best life you can. Offers sound advice for handling boys, jobs, peer pressure, self confidence, having fun, parents, jealousy, manners, dreams, and any of hundreds of issues that pop up daily for the average teen. This book inspires you to act in your own best interests and make the most out of life.

This book includes a detailed index for looking up whatever topics concern you, as well as a list of other helpful books and websites. How cool is that?

5 out of 5 stars Be True to Yourself : A Daily Guide for Teenage Girls.......2000-10-16

Be True to Yourself : A Daily Guide for Teenage Girls, is a treasure. It is an important and powerful book; a book that every teenage girl should read. Amanda Ford's writing style is simple, honest and very real. You know she is speaking from her heart and from her own experiences. This is a book with integrity. It is one that the reader can open to any page and find inspiration and guidance. Like Sarah Ban Breathnach's "Simple Abundance," Be True to Yourself has a daily message. The book will never become outdated and it can be read day after day. Each page is like a precious gem that shines on its own. There is no gift you can give that will help a girl more during her teenage years than Be True to Yourself. It will become her best friend and companion.

Book Description

One of the intentions of this book is to point out the limitations of New Age thinking when applied to emotions, which might be summed up as trying to wish away painful feelings by changing beliefs or substituting positive, unrealistic feelings. The book pointedly challenges the New Age to understand that deep personal emotional issues and feelings must be brought to the surface and cleared before the path to healing and higher consciousness can be successfully navigated, and that these suppressed feelings are largely responsible for the chaos we encounter. The book presents a unique synthesis of established East/West principles that forms a complete, detailed program for self-work. While "getting in touch with feelings" is not a new concept, the book presents a cutting-edge program through which this may be successfully accomplished. Yoga is mentioned as a useful tool, but by no means is it a central focus. Similarly, past lives and astrology are each mentioned passingly, as interesting, optional dimensions to round out the Eastern component of the work; they are obviously not relied upon in the program. The approach guides the reader inward, showing how to gently and safely release suppressed, built-up feelings. This book has been on several best-seller lists. It has been on the best-seller table at East/West Books, New York City's largest consciousness bookstore, since 1994. This book may have been ahead of its time, and its vital message may be even more essential in today's world, for those ready to get down to serious work on themselves.

5 out of 5 stars The Goods........2007-08-31

This book is what it is: an unambiguous & insightful summary of why & how we struggle so much. I'm still reading it (trying to savor every sentence), but I doubt I've ever been happier about any other purchase.

5 out of 5 stars This is a very good book........2007-01-30

John Ruskan has put together a very well thought out system of understanding feelings, karma and life. He has been working at this for quite some time, but the material has a timeless quality. I've read the book twice and took a great deal more from it the second time. There is something the rings true about karma and how our suppressed feelings and conditioned patterns attract that which is needed for them to come to the surface and give us the opportunity to grow through them. Of course, sometimes we do not chose or are not able to grow through difficult feelings. Emotional Clearing offers a deep, thorough treatment of the concepts that underly the challenage of this universal truth. Thus, this book helped me grasp the very spiritual nature of self work. I'm indebted to Ruskan for this, simply put. This book is not, gratefully, scientific or academic. Yet it is precisely assembled and thorough, affected by Ruskan's well-organized logic, but also by his practiced access to feelings, instinct and intuition. The modality he has developed takes the theory further by offering therapeutic techniques that are based on long standing practices. Like yoga, like breathwork. So it is more than theory. If you want a book or process or modality that also guides you directly to effective action, this book does that. But don't get me wrong, the theory can occupy a thoughtful person for quite some time too. I would know, having found the book two years ago and finding myself still involved with it and even now using my experience with it as a jumping off point for writing and working. There has been a decided improvement in the flow of my life since first discovering Ruskan's website and then buying the book. For spirtual seekers and people wanting to improve thier life in a deep, authentic, sustainable manner, this book is effective.

5 out of 5 stars One of the best.......2006-12-12

I have read Emotional Clearing over the past year and have been extremely inspired by it. It is definitely the best new age book I've read, and I've read quite a lot. The concept of acceptance has been essential for me because for 21 years I've suffered terribly with anxiety, stress, and panic attacks. I've always fought it and suppressed it with alcohol and became as a result alcohol dependent. The book has given me relief from the attacks and I've been sober for 10 out of the past 12 months.

Book Description

"As you look deeply into your own awareness, and relax the self-contraction, and dissolve into the empty ground of your own primordial experience, the simple feeling of Being—right now, right here—is it not obvious all at once? Were you not present from the start? Did you not have a hand to play in all that was to follow? Did not the dream itself begin when you got bored with being God? Was it not fun to get lost in the productions of your own wondrous imagination, and pretend it all was other? Did you not write this book, and countless others like it, simply to remind you who you are?"
—Ken Wilber The author of nineteen books of philosophy and psychology, Ken Wilber is a pioneering thinker who has developed an integral "theory of everything" that embraces the truths of both Eastern spirituality and Western science. Yet while he is best known for his scholarly research into the world's contemplative traditions, Wilber is also an accomplished spiritual practitioner and mystic in his own right. In order to highlight the personal wisdom of this popular author, the editors of The Simple Feeling of Being have assembled a collection of inspirational, mystical, and instructional passages drawn from his publications. These heartfelt writings, born of Ken's own meditation practice and inner experiences, include: Poetic passages of contemplative insights and reflections Inspired descriptions of Spirit, Nondual Awareness, the Witness, One Taste, and other topics Commentary on the spiritual contributions of figures such as Ralph Waldo Emerson, Saint Teresa of Ávila, Meister Eckhart, and Ramana Maharshi Anecdotes of personal experience and glimpses into Wilber's inner world Practical spiritual instructions and guided meditations

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Complimentary to Ken's other writings, very accessible.......2007-02-19

Unlike many of Ken's writings, this particular book is very accessible to almost anyone. It gives a good sense of what the authors inner life is like, which is refreshing because this author often focuses on systems of meaning and integrating complex philosophies. This can be intimidating or confusing to new readers.

There are many other good reviews on the content of the book, including the two spotlight reviews above. I particularly agree with the first review and find that this work compliments Ken's other more technical writing. I also agree that both a "Brief History of Everything" and "Integral Psychology" are the TWO best introductions to Ken Wilber's thought. However, I would add the caveat that a "Brief History of Everything" is much more readable for the average person. "Integral Psychology" is more scholarly and perhaps better for someone who is already familiar with Wilber or a professional in this area of study.

What is wonderful about this book is that it returns back to what it's all about i.e. the internal experience of connection, unity and wholeness. It provides the vision that underlies Ken's other work in a poetic and touching manner. Mr. Wilber is a very prolific writer and this book collects some of his more poignant works under one roof. I also found that NO BOUNDARIES was written from a similar space. It has a different feeling tone than many of his other works.

4 out of 5 stars Interesting material........2007-01-10

Very interesting material but a bit difficult to understand without some background of his theories.

5 out of 5 stars The Simple Feeling of Being: Visionary, Spirtual, and Poetic Writings.......2006-02-24

An excellent introductory piece to Ken Wilber's Non-dualistic philosophy. Well edited and constructed, it gently, but firmly leads the reader into the depths of rigorous personal contemplation of "Who am I?".

4 out of 5 stars Insightful.......2006-02-04

Ken's overview of very complex topics on the medation processes is rich with simple understanding and insight. A most valuable effort to continuing on a personal quest during meditation. Some times, the information collected from his other works is slightly distracting having been on a steady track of thought. In summary, however, his approach to the main topic is invaluable and well documented to the source writings.

1 out of 5 stars If I do say so myself........2005-07-23

What an awful and pompous title for a book! Is a piece of writing visionary becuase the author (or publisher) says it is? And don't we normally call poetic writings (sic) poems?
Sigh.

Book Description

In Matter into Feeling, Dr. Wolf guides us through the conflicts and resistances we feel as physical beings--the everyday demands, addictions, successes, and failures we experience--and into an understanding that being "stuck" is only a phase, one from which we can escape once we understand the origin and role of human feeling.

Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars Left feeling slightly more confused than empowered........2005-07-21

After hearing a theory about astrology and alchemy being the two original sciences, and being interested in spirit and feeling, I thought "wow, this book, talking about a new alchemy of science AND spirit is going to be great". However, I think the endorsement from Deepak Chopra on the front cover says it all, Fred Alan Wolf "... one of the most important pioneers in the field of consciousness." In other words, the book itself is probably being sold more on the basis of the author's reputation than the content.

I struggled to find a concise and simple objective of the material. In the introduction Wolf talks a lot about "Mind into Matter" and how "Matter into Feeling" follows on. Well, I haven't read "Mind into Matter" so does this make it futile to read this book until I have? IF that is so, why isn't there a qualification somewhere more upfront telling the customer about this? To some extent every book must stand on its own.

I respect Dr. Jean Houston a lot, yet after reading the book could not really accept her endorsement on the back cover, or on this site.

Wolf talks of four major elements out there, but in Chinese Medicine there are five, and the Mayans also include 'ether' or energy as a fifth. Energy is a huge factor in the consciousness-matter equation and it was unclear to me how Dr Wolf treats this, and I really wanted to know his opinion.

I wasn't able to locate a simple definition of "feeling", so relied on what Gregg Braden talks about, as "feeling" being the union of emotion (as represented by the first 3 chakras) and thought (top 3), within the heart, or centre chakra. But I would have preferred to find Dr. Wolf's own concise definition.

Wolf obviously is well read and knowledgeable and has done some great work, drawing from Hebrew, Hindu, Upanishads, Da Free John, and Freudian sources. But I'm cautious in agreeing with those who may think this particular work is up there with the best.

At times the relevance and linking to the overall theme or thesis appears to be ad-hoc and hit or miss in places.

If you're looking for a less theoretical and left brain approach to communicate about feelings and how they impact the material world I suggest The Isaiah Effect by Gregg Braden.

Three stars because there are isolated insights, such as the information about the different ego states, the natural stress between spirit and matter, and how not all feelings are sensed etc., but these are too random and sparse to warrant more than an average look.

1 out of 5 stars Just Silly.......2005-04-26

Wolf's attempt at an analogy between psychological change and his confused interpretation of physical transformation is just silly. I would recommend Satinover and McTaggart if you're interested in the new science.

4 out of 5 stars Quantum Physics meets Kabbalah & Mysticism.......2004-07-11

Fred Alan Wolf has written many books about the new physics and the spiritual implications of theories and empirical findings in physics. Here, he expands his musings into the realm of Hebrew kabbalah, where he correlates the Hebrew letters and Kabbalistic ideas about the path of spirit into matter/form with physics concepts such as parallel universes, holographic perception, quantum non-locality, observer effects, and quantum uncertainty. It's all very interesting, although the marriage of quantum physics with kabbalah seemed a bit forced to me. I appreciate that Wolf has tried to examine the role of emotion in the mind-body-spirit feedback system, although his exploration seems incomplete and his focus on kabbalah may be distracting for those seeking a more science-oriented approach. I also wonder why Wolf still accepts the theory of the "Big Bang," when both empirical observations and hyperdimensional concepts of physics seem to contradict the Big Bang notion. Other than these flaws, which don't significantly affect the main ideas and information in the book, this is an excellent contribution to the literature in the area of spirituality, consciousness, and theoretical physics.

5 out of 5 stars A Launch Pad for Personal Consciousness Transformation.......2002-09-08

Fred Alan Wolf demonstrates exquisite craftsmanship in his newest book, MATTER INTO FEELING, as he ties alchemy together with letters of the Hebrew alphabet and physics. Picking up where MIND INTO MATTER left off, Wolf serves the reader thought-provoking tastes of consciousness, memory, lucid dreams, and the awesome and exhilarating concept of the "One-Mind".

MATTER INTO FEELING is a treat for anyone who loves to contemplate ideas such as, "We don't sense what we sense; we sense what we remember we sense." And this leads us to wonder how it is that we do something so seemingly simple as remember something!

When Wolf asks us to consider things such as how the choices we make each day are much more than they appear (since according to the parallel universes model of reality, we try all possibilities, even though we typically only recall choosing one) -- MATTER INTO FEELING becomes a launch pad for personal consciousness transformation.

I love the way Wolf brilliantly combines a joyful sense of wonder with modern physical theories and ancient written texts such as the Upanishads and the Qabala. Like the best kind of chef, Wolf serves up a feast which is simultaneously exotic and familiar, yet leaves anyone who tastes it feeling hungry for more. If you love both science and spirituality, MATTER INTO FEELING is one book you're sure to adore!

5 out of 5 stars A Valid walk with SHE.......2007-07-05

I found this book to be a refreshing look at a women's journey on her spiritual path with the Goddess. This book not only validates your 'untraditional' experience with SHE, but it also encourages you to complete the journey with suggestions on other areas to research and encounter with your journey towards the Goddess!

5 out of 5 stars down to earth spiritual practice.......2005-09-12

This book effectively illustrates the basic principles of female shamanism. It is easy to read, engaging and packed full of interesting research on women's spirituality.

1 out of 5 stars Hoo boy....!.......2004-12-12

Yet another white woman who says she's a "shaman," this one because she had some sort of psychotic break while sitting in the bathtub one day. She also says Filipino shamans "reach between molecules" to pull tumors out of people. Um, no, Honey, they use sleight-of-hand and chicken parts. Period.

This book contains a truckload of bad history about universal goddess worship, how all the shamans were once women, and other utter tripe.

I also don't have anything nice to say about anyone whose full-grown boa constrictor is under 3 feet long. She blames the former owner, but admits to feeding the animal only when it moves around a lot and "acts hungry," rather than keeping it on a regular feeding schedule. (She also can't distinguish between "acting hungry" and "predicting an earthquake" on the snake's part.) Boas are not "cool Goddessy Witchy woman accesories;" they grow to be ten plus feet long when cared for properly, and they need to be fed as soon as they have passed their last meal.

4 out of 5 stars Interesting, well-written, but..........1999-11-29

this book, while absolutely articulate and compelling, is essentially Noble's memoir of goddess-conciousness. The commentary on the medical industry's stances on issues such as childbirth and gynecology were one of the highlights of the text. However, the constant referencing and hyping of the author's tarot system, The Motherpeace Tarot deck, while expectable, gets tedious, especially to those who, like I, aren't really "spoken to" by the system. Highly reccomended to those who are interested in politico-spiritual issues, especially those regarding women.
