I bought this book for my newborn because I wanted her to grow up loving to read. When she was a few months old, she loved to chew on the soft cloth pages and stare at the brightly colored pictures. Then she learned how to turn the pages. Now at 10 months, she still loves to touch the 3-D part of each page and hear me read the simple rhymes.

We love all of the different objects and textures that she can touch and explore on each page:
1) Padded aqua turtle shell
2) Shiny metallic fish
3) Ribbon used as water from a whale spout
4) Padded pink vinyl crab shell
5) Silver seahorse fin
6) Green felt octopus tentacles
7) Pink oyster shell with satin inner lining
8) Terry cloth seahorse
9) Metallic seaweed rolls

This crinkly cloth book is easy for babies to hold and great for teething. It also keeps little hands busy during car rides. Although the manufacturer recommends surface cleaning only, I've successfully washed mine inside a mesh lingerie bag on the gentle cycle. And it still looks new...

My daughter loves this book, it's her favorite of the Priddy cloth books. This one has enough crinkle noises and tactile items to keep her baby hands busy -it keeps her occupied for a good stretch of time. My only complaint (as with all the Priddy cloth books) is that the the actual text and rhymes have a lot to be desired. It just seems forced to make the rhyme and meter work - it ends up very clumsy. I rarely read it now as she's just very interested in holding and playing with the pages.

This book is very fun with all sorts of colors and textures. My son loves to look at it and feel the different things. It has just the right amount of words too. I own three Roger Priddy books and I am VERY happy with all of them.

I got this for my son, who's now 14 months, when he was about 7 or 8 months old. He still loves playing with it. The pages are easy to turn and the different fabrics still fascinate him. My six-month-old loves her Taggies Book. (She received it when she was four months old.) Now, she likes to hold it and rub the tags. It is perfect size to lay across her lap while she is in her car seat. Very nice.

When my son first got the book, he was absolutely fascinated with the tags. He also loves to feel the velvety pictures. And it's also one of the first books I began reading to him.

Perfect for bedtime.......2005-08-25

This is a wonderful book that my nine-month-old has enjoyed since we received it as a gift when he was 2 months old. I don't understand the other reviews that say "it isn't much of a story". "Sweet Dreams", as the title implies, is a bedtime book. And it is perfect for that. Short, simple, engaging but not exciting, it is oh-so-soft and very comforting. My son loves it. He touches each animal ("kitty", "bunny", & "puppy") as we read, and I even stroke his face with the book once at the end as a final soother. It is the second of the two books we read at bedtime, the first being Baby Animals, which is a more active "Tough & Feel" book, but a good transition from active to night-night. I highly recommend Sweet Dreams for anyone looking for a comforting quiet book for bedtime reading with their baby. At nine-months, he seems far from outgrowing it; we will enjoy this book for some time to come.

An update at 13 months: still a wonderful way to go to bed. He can be teething or excited or anything other than sleepy. But when we start this book, he settles right down and gets snuggly and sleepy. After all, kitty, bunny and puppy are asleep in their beds, so it must be a good idea!

A perfect gift for your newest adopted family member.......2005-04-04

I think this is a perfect gift for any baby shower or new addition to your family. Especially for those who are adopting a child International like we did. We wheren't sure how much stimulation our daughter received in her Social Welfare Institute in China and so we brought this colorful book along. The book is a soft flannel and each tag is has a different color and texture and what child doesn't like tags of any sort. If you find this book in the book store or sometimes in a gift shop you can choose the colored tags and textures, for each one is different.

As a reading book, this is not and I am not really sure that's what this book was intended to be. I think this book is for stimulation of your babies sences. Can't say enough about this book and the taggie blanket, you just can't go wrong bringing to a baby shower on as one of the items packed in your already full bag on your way to be united with your daughters and or sons!

Great for babies (under 1).......2005-03-04

I received a taggie blanket at my baby shower and my daughter loves it, so when I saw this book I bought it. She loves it, it as well. I find this works well in the stroller or backback and she likes to chew on all the tabs (tho' mostly the information tag, as it is the biggest). It cleans easily in the wash. It isn't really much of a "story" -- this is mostly a book-shaped toy. But she gives it lots of attention and it is a wonderful distraction for in the car or playpen. My son, who is two years old, thinks the loops are funny and likes to stick his fingers in them, but this is really an item for a baby. I don't imagine a toddler interested in real books would get much out of it.

My daughter had several of the Roger Priddy soft books when she was a baby. Though we loved them all (with the possible exception of Snowy Bear - the pictures and colors are just not as attention grabbing), I would have to say that Fuzzy Bee was everyone's favorite. The colors and materials are fantastic.

My baby girl's favorite!!!.......2007-08-23

We received this book as a gift before our daughter was born. From the time she was born, she's had a bookcase full of baby and toddler books, but this one is by far her favorite. It was the first one she really took interest in...at about 6 weeks old. I think she loves the bold, bright illustrations. Up until she was about 5 months old, she'd go through a seriously fussy period in the evenings...nothing could calm her down like reading Fuzzy Bee! It worked like magic. She's 6.5 months old now and still loves it! We also have Squishy Turtle -- it's also a hit but not to quite the same degree.

This Chick Loves the Fluffy Chick Book (and So Do Her Baby Chicks!).......2007-07-28

I am not sure who enjoys this book more, me or my nine month old twins! It is a very visual "soft book" with interesting textures on each animal. Some even have that great crinkly paper that makes sounds as your child grabs it. My daughters really enjoy touching the different textures on the pages.

The illustrations in this book are fantastic. They are vivid and bright and catch my daughter's attention. I like the interactive features in this book. Such as the "wool" on the sheep, the "comb" on the rooster, and the "downy feathers" on the chick.

Daughter is 8 months old. She has enjoyed this book since she was quite small, maybe 3 months or so.

It's nice because it is cloth, so when she drools and chews on it, it stays in tact, unlike the board books that now look like a pack of dogs savaged them.

It has fun "illustrations" wit at least one texture difference per page, and the text is nice and short and rhymes, so you can semi sing it and turn the pages fast.

As we took our six month old daughter on her first airplane ride to California, we felt a great a deal of trepidation. However, once we brought out the Fluffy Chick book during the flight, all was wonderful ! She laughed and was fascinated by the book, and she didn't cry once during the entire flight to California and back ! Of course, nearby passengers may not have been excited by our multiple (quiet) readings of the Fluffy Chick book to our daughter, but I think that they were very grateful for the quiet !

My daughter prefers the board book to the soft one, but this one travels well and has plenty of tags on it. Of course, she plays with the manufacturer's tag anyway. Nice for a gift.

Our third grandchild is on the way and this little taggie book was a new item for baby that I had not seen before. Soooo cute, and my daughter-in-law thinks it is precious. Great gift!

My 6 month old baby loves this book. I bought it for her because i thought it might have more longevity and interest than the regular Taggies blanket. She loves it! It is fun to watch her, she holds the book and examines each tag very carefully. I think it helps her with dexterity to touch each individual tag, and it is a good start to learning what a book is and how to turn the pages. It is not much of a read, of course, but that isnt the point; it is a comforting and quiet object she can either play with or cuddle with. Of course, the tag she likes the best is the large actual tag from the book that says Taggies on it.. not the pretty ribbon tags! I would recommend this book (or any of the Taggies books)!

This book is wonderful. Aside from the great message of love, it is all fabric so it is easy for an infant to hold, swing, toss, whatever, and not get hurt. The different textures are fun. My daughter is a huge fan of this book.

The Rag Coat is a story about a young girl with hope who has always helped others and needs the favor returned. This story will have you counting your blessings. And the young girl is full of hope, and when you are done reading you will be too.

Detailed and colorful pictures are on every page you turn. For example, the cover with the coat shows how much details are in each fragment. This is a great story to read a loud in groups or just at home on the couch. It's especially on a cold winter night! The story makes you feel like someone is actually telling you. This book proves how hard times can bring people and families together. All of the quilting moms take time to help after the death of a loved person.

I bought copies of this book for my two granddaughters and one for me too. That way we can read together over the phone. This story is so very special, well written with beautiful pictures. Both girls, ages 11 and 7 loved it, and so did grandma. This one is a keeper for sure!

I bought this book for my 6 year old son. We absolutely love this book. It is such a sweet story. It teaches an important lesson as well. If you want to teach your child to be compassionate towards others, then this story is a great way to begin.

A touching tale.......2005-07-16

Like some other reviewers, I cried as I read this book to my children. It is a touching tale of an 8 year old girl Minna who is coping with her father's death, trying to help her mom to overcome their poverty and dealing with humiliation of poverty. My daughter (8) said it is sad story with a happy ending - and it is true. The simple message "people only need people" stays in every heart long after you have finished reading the book.

Every library must have a copy of this book. It teaches children what is really important in life. People only need people and nothing else.

The book is charming and will be a delight for the babies.

However, my daughter washes EVERYTHING for the babies. This book was not designed to go into the washing machine, but it survived the trip. There was residual moisture in the rattle part. If this leads to mold, then the rattle part will be removed.

I got this book for my baby when he was about three-months-old and he was so stimulated by the contrasting shapes and colors that his eyes would get really big and he'd shake with excitement. Now that he's seven-months-old he still likes to chew on it and he plays with the beads on the plastic handle. I use a plastic link to attach it to his bouncy chair or other toys. I think it's a very attractive book. I got one for a girlfriend who has a younger baby than mine and she thought it was very cute.

my baby loves this cloth book.......2005-03-27

My six-month-old son loves this book. It is a wonderful stroller toy because it keeps him occupied for a long time. The cover is soft and snuggly; plus, the baby bird can be put in different little pockets throughout the book--so my two-year-old daughter loves to "read" this book to the baby.

One caveat: because it's so plush we let our son play with it in his crib and he got the string loosely wrapped around his neck. He's fine, and he still loves the book, but I certainly wouldn't let him play with it unsupervised again.

This is another excellent cloth book for babies and toddlers but it doesn't have as many things to pull on or that stick out (which is what most babies enjoy the most) as some of the other cloth books like Fuzzy Bee and Friends or Squishy Turtle and Friends. My son also loves Fluffy Chick and Friends as well. If I had to rank the cloth books in order they would be: 1) Fuzzy Bee, 2) Squishy Turtle, 3) Fluffy Chic, 4) Big Rex, and 5) Snowy Bear. If you don't have the first four, I would get them first and get this book last when you are bored of the others. It is still a good book, just not as good as the others.

This book is her absolute favorite - she can hold it because it bends and it's light, she loves to pat the various textures within the book, the cover is krinkly, she can put it in her mouth because it's a cloth book, and it's the perfect size. She reaches out for this book and prefers it over her whole basket full of toys! We also have Squishy Turtle, and are about to order the other 2 cloth books. If you love this book, also get Roger Priddy's books "baby touch and feel". We have Puppy Love and Zoo's Who and she loves them. They're just adorable and the best toy OR book purchase I've made yet.

My 3 month old is loving the Priddy books. Squishy turtle is brighter and seems to keep her attention better, but both are great.

My 4.5 month old daughter LOVES these Roger Priddy cloth books. She has this one, and Fuzzy Bee and Friends (her all-time favorite). There's also a turtle one, a T-Rex one, a chick one and a Rudolph one. The pages have different textures (for instance, the walrus tusks are shiny white fake-leather, and the puffin has a satiny wing), and she's very into feeling things now. The cover has a crinkly filling, too, which most babies I know can spend several minutes playing with.

The verses on each page are rhyming, which is fun for mommy, and helps baby learn the patterns words can make.

They say the books are surface wash only, but I've thrown them in the washer and dryer and they come out just fine. Good as new! Which is great, because after it drops on the restaurant floor a time or two, I can't really watch her chew on it. :-)
