I don't know where to begin because this book is so bad!.......2007-07-08
Fist of all, I'll start off buy saying ladies, if you're 25 or under, this book is not for you!!!
Second, if you only identify with one or two attributes categorized in this book, this book will not help you very nuch, as you will only be looking at a maximum of 10 pages from the entire book. Plus, the help is so generic and limited. They only give you a list of 4 or 5 helpful cuts/lines/lengths, and a series of 4 or 5 stlyes/etc. to avoid. Well, I realized that there are FAR more stlyes/etc. in the world than 5, so if I go to the store and find something NOT mentioned in the book, how am I supposed to know if I can wear it or not!? Most books are designed to give you a starting point to further progress your fashion savvy conscious, but this book did no such thing. It was a dead end leaving you wondering what the heck you're supposed to do now. DON'T BUY THIS BOOK. EVEN IF YOU FOUND A $0.50 DEAL, IT'S NOT WORTH IT.
I am not buying what they are selling.......2007-06-13
I was extremely disappointed in this book. I love these kind of style advice books but this just left me feeling like I didn't learn a thing. Much of the advice was old hat, and some of it I just didn't even agree with like busty girls shouldn't wear turtlenecks - cmon! And it only addressed specific body areas rather than all over body types.
For my money Stacey and Clinton's book is the way to go. Haven't found one yet to rival theirs. And I guess I just like the way they seem to find beauty in all figure types and bring it out. I know Susannah and Trinny are British but their humor sometimes just borders on sheer viciousness. Counter-productive to raising people self-esteem.
Helpful.......2007-04-03
I find there ideas to be very helpful. Being a 40 something Mom with teens, I don't want to appear a nerdy dresser.
Most of what I own is what not to wear!.......2007-03-26
Not very insightful. I like these girls on TV, but the book left me clueless. I still do not know what current styles will look good on me. A better book is Nothing to Wear?: A Five-Step Cure for the Common Closet. It talks about body types and style preferences. And give you a plan to clean your closet and avoid buying mistakes in the future.
Very Helpful. VERY........2007-03-10
I absolutely love watching re-runs of Trinny & Susannah's show. And this book is good for those who need help in figuring out what to wear.

Excellent Source of Advice for Real Woman.......2007-08-14
Majority of these fashion books fail to give solid, stylish advice to women who are larger than a size 10. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure that a woman who wears a size 8 has some body parts that she hates, but by and large, she can at least find clothes that fit and flatter. Most of the clothes that are available nowadays are designed with the size 6/8 woman in mind.
Danica Lo, a former plus-size model, understands this and really helps you to overcome some of your body hatred. What you wear can make a huge difference in how you see yourself, and her advice is practical and simple. She gets right to the point, not adding a lot of superficial fluff to make it longer.
A word of warning, however. This book is not really designed for any woman under a size 10. One of the things I loved about the book is that she recognized that a large chest is a DD+, not a D or C cup. That alone should indicate to you that this book is for the real curvy woman. There is also a great deal of advice for plus-size women, such as where to find shoes and boots that fit.
This is an excellent book for size 10+ women, who want to find clothes and styles for their body type. Grade: A
Thank you Danica Lo!.......2007-07-14
After reading style tips my whole life I still have to say that this book was chock full of ideas and lightbulb moments, "secrets" of the trade so to speak. If one of these tips were new and really worked it would be worth the price of the book, however I found the book full of slimming style concepts that I had never even heard of.
Thank you for sharing, Danica! You are a true friend of womankind.
some novel ideas here.......2007-06-05
Unfortunately the novel ideas are farfetched, odd or ineffective. If you already have a book of this genre, you don't need this one. Mediocre.
Funny!.......2007-05-25
This was a very funny book to read. Danica Lo is straight to the point, telling you exactly what not to wear and what would make you look better. The later chapters in the book (for example: how to smell thin) are a little iffy, but who knows, it could work. Danica's tips are worth while, but might make you a little depressed about the clothes you have been wearing. Have you been looking fat your entire life? And you will definitely want to go out and buy a whole new wardrobe, not a good book if you are on a budget. Danica's tips are worth keeping in mind when you're out shopping. Hopefully you will already have some items in your closet that you were not wearing as much that now make sense to wear. Danica explains why and how different clothes can make you look thin.
Not exactly what I was expecting.......2007-05-23
I haven't made it very far into the book, probably just a few first chapters and I have to say I am already very resistant to a lot of the suggestions: wearing control top granny panties, wearing other types of 'slimming' body wear underneath your regular clothes...I decided that was too restraining a long time ago and I don't think it helps any with regard to comfort. However, she does have some great advice for finding jeans that look good and mentions taking into account that the width of the lower leg of a jean or pant for heavier women should be equal or greater than the width of the woman's thigh, that way visually you look slimmer on your thighs. With tips like this even a non restraining-underwear wearing lady can find ways to look better. I recommend it but advise women to decide for themselves what works for them in terms of comfort.
Book Description
From what to order and how to order it to what to wear and how to wear it, the essentials of "metrosexual" savoir faire.
The old-fashioned, repressed, un-moisturized man has been banished to the hinterlands and a new breed is taking center stage. He is a man of style, sophistication, and security, just as strong and confident as his predecessor, but far more diverse in his interests, his tastes, and, most importantly, his self-image. He may be seen at an NBA game one night and an art gallery opening the next. Able to navigate any social setting, he is informed, influential, intriguing, and very much in vogue these days. He is the new male ideal: the metrosexual man.
So how can the average Joe keep up with this new version of cool? How should he behave, what shoes should he wear, and what CDs should he have in his collection? Answers to these questions and so many other pressing concerns can be found in The Metrosexual Guide to Style. Filled with entertaining anecdotes, famous quotes, helpful hints, dos and don'ts, recommendations and potential pitfalls, this handy guidebook covers everything from dining out to fashion and personal style, home dcor to the Metro-mindset. It is the one-stop shop for the impeccably groomed and savvy modern man.
metrosexual \me-(.)tro - seksh-(e-)wel\ n: 1: twenty-first- century male trendsetter 2: straight, urban man with heightened aesthetic sense. 3: man who spends time and money on appearance and shopping 4: man willing to embrace his feminine side
Do's and Don'ts...
* Pirate shirts, loud patterns, buckles, and zippers are for circus performers and boy bands.
* Pleated pants are history. Slim-fit, straight-leg pants make you look longer and sharper.
* Your clothes should conform to your body. Spend the extra money and have suits tailored.
* Your belt and your shoes should always match, and black on black works best.
* A silver, stainless steel watchband will go with everything. Leather bands should be strong and masculine, and sport watches are for sporting occasions.
* High school or college rings are best kept in the dresser drawer until the reunion is announced.
* A slim billfold or money clip is important, as a bulging wallet will only produce unsightly lumps in all the wrong places.

For anyone over 12 years old worthless...........2007-08-28
99% of what this book is anything that any 12 year should know. For example, don't burp at the table. Hard to believe that a whole book can be filled with such "valuable" advice.
as long as you don't take it seriously..........2007-08-18
Hilarious. It made me laugh out loud in the bookstore, and it'll make a great gag gift for a friend, so I'm giving it 4 stars.
Surprisingly good.......2006-04-15
When I got this book I was not expecting nothing more than narrow minded approach to etiquete and "good habits", instead I found a delightful reading full of sarcastic humor and useful tips. I think this book is definitely a surprise and maybe that is why some readers find it odd or disappointing, but I can assure you it is not.
It is a small kind of manual book with many different approaches to life style, going from fashion all the way down to positive thinking and attitude. Great indeed.
Metrosexual Guide review.......2006-03-21
This book is AWESOME. Clear, concise and well written. Includes EVERYTHING a man should know about food, fashion, travel, style, grooming, health, fitness, art, etiquette, you name it. I use is as a guideline for everything. Easy to read with a good sense of humor.
Helpful, but..........2005-11-17
This book is full of useful advice, but do not mistake it for instruction on how to become a gentleman. Despite what one would think, I have come to appreciate this term "Metrosexual" as it distinguishes those who use manners and the appearance of urbane sophistication for their own self-advancement from true gentlemen. True gentlemen show respect for themselves and others, bringing the light of civilization to a darkening world, and leaving society better for their efforts. A gentleman's manners, urbanity and consideration are a lifestyle, not a mask that is donned for selfish convenience.
Thus, if one is seeking to become a metrosexual, this book fits the bill. If one wants to be a gentleman, keep shopping.

few good ideas.......2007-07-31
this book is more like a large pamphlet. The book is mainly a lot of ideas that are somewhat common sense (at least to me). In order to make most of this book work for you, you might want to also get a book on how to extremely lower your standards. The author suggests most of his ideas to become homeless and hitchhike as opposed to actually setting up a new identity although there are a few ideas about that. All in all for the length of the read i didnt expect to much, but got a few ideas.
This book saved my life!.......2007-01-13
I am surprised at some of the past reviewers of this book. They sound like armchair secret agents that want a book like this to tell them all the secrets of 9/11, Roswell and the Kennedy assassination, all for under a dollar!
The truth is, however, that this book is a how-to manual for people who need to lay low for a while, because of financial problems, stalkers, vengeful ex-spouses, or what have you.
Do the techniques it describes work? YES. Using them I was able to disappear for several months during a time when a vengeful and psychotic ex-boyfriend wanted very much to put a bullet in me. He is now sitting in prison, and I am safe for at least 20 years. But if I hadn't found this book then I would likely be dead at this point.
I strongly recommend this book for anyone who needs to get away from things for a while - without anyone being able to track them down.
This Title is Unique - Not the Average "Change Your ID" Book.......2004-11-08
Most books on the subject of Fake ID tell you how to start over completely. You have to sever ties to your former life permanently and completely. There is no going back. But what if you aren't sure you want to change your ID completely? What if all you need is an extended vacation to collect your thoughts and prepare a plan?
"Cover Your Tracks Without Changing Your Identity" introduces the concept of a "light identity change". This interesting title explains how to leave your old identity intact but keep your problems finding you at your new location. Using Wilson's tactics in "Cover Your Tracks Without Changing Your Identity", you will be able to return to your former identity if you desire.
The information contained in this unique title will undoubtedly help many people.
Packed with good information.......2004-10-09
Anyone needing to increase their personal privacy should read this book. It has advice for people trapped in bad marriages, folks threatened by stalkers, and even those who are just desperately unhappy in their daily lives. Following Wilson's instructions you really can virtually fall off the face of the earth for several weeks up to a year, while you get your head together and figure out what to do next.
Though it's about a very serious topic, the author tosses in some of his own quirky humor and observations which make the book fun to read as well as enlightening. Recommended to anyone interested in privacy protection.

Good, Enjoyable Read.......2007-08-24
I bought this book as a gift for my girlfriend, and read it before giving it to her. The information in the book is very basic, but sometimes you need basic information when you're learning about something. The book is put together nicely, and printed on high quality paper. The writing style is very easy to read. The author has a positive attitude about lingerie that I think will rub off on most readers. I recommend this book.
Everything you wished your mother had told you about lingerie.......2007-02-17
This a great book with a lot of practical information about lingerie. The author is clearly enthusiastic about the subject and eager to share her knowledge. It answers many questions you may have been to shy to ask sales people or never released you SHOULD have known.
On my most recent visit to New York I checked out the shop. It's even better than the book! The sales person was very professional and knowledgeable. With her help I bought the most beautiful, and more importantly, best fitting bras I've had in 30 years.
General-interest lending libraries are sure to find it a frequently-consulted reference........2007-02-08

Great book.......2007-02-08
I stumbled upon this book while looking for something else, and couldn't help but pick it up. This book covers everything, including bras (how a good-fitting one can make you look so much better), panties, slips, hose, teddies, camisoles, you name it. The author explains what to get, how many, how to care for it, and what to wear it with. She covers the practical everyday needs as well as "special" lingerie. The book is beautifully photographed and is a pleasure to look at.
And most importantly, the author, a lingerie shop owner, provides a lot of insight into why women shop for lingerie (and why many do not). She makes a strong case for how what we wear under our clothes is just as important as our clothing, and that it's important for women to treat themselves well. This book totally changed my view on lingerie and gave me permission to buy those nice things I've always wanted!
The Lingerie Handbook.......2007-02-04
I was impressed by The Lingerie Handbook because of practicality. The information in this book assisted me in selecting bras that do their job. Finally I have guidance for selecting the right style and size for fit and lift because Apsan reveals the mysteries of selecting style, and cup size selection relative to the band size. I am pleased with the greater comfort and improved appearance of garments purchased following the book's tips. The book pays for itself with information that if followed will eliminate the future purchase of poor fitting bra. The information was a great time saver as I was able to pick out bras to try on that were more likely to fit so I didn't have to try on so many.

This book provides easy to understand, step-by-step instructions and diagrams showing how to use Adobe Illustrator to create flat drawings, working drawings and storyboards for the fashion industry. Hand drawings are no longer good enough for an industry which demands increased productivity, profitability and accuracy. Adobe Illustrator enables the user to create clear and detailed drawings that satisfy the industry 's needs. Adobe Illustrator has become the industry standard, taking over from other software packages.Although Adobe Illustrator is a powerful CAD program, it is difficult to grasp quickly. This book provides the building blocks which enable fashion students and designers to get started quickly while learning the more sophisticated facilities as they become more fluent. Here they are shown simply, concisely and in a highly practical way all that new users need to know to begin to create acceptable work.
Book Description
By the best-selling author of The Metrosexual Guide to Style, an amusing tour of vice and its virtues and the anti-self help book of all time.
In the age of Oprah, Dr. Phil, and countless other self-help disciplinarians, indulging in any kind of pleasurable pastime is on the brink of extinction. But it's not too late to revive those lost pleasures that make life worth living. The Hedonism Handbook can help put the three-martini lunch, the baguette with real butter, the deep tan, the unfiltered cigarette, or the simple act of lying in a hammock under the stars back within our grasp. A tongue-in-cheek, satirical guide to the "good" life, The Hedonism Handbook will help us reclaim it all.
With his characteristic wit, author Michael Flocker combines humorous reviews of historical excesses, suggestions for everyday indulgences, lists of hedonistic icons with famous quotes and earnest warnings about the perils of structured living. Made up of ten worldly wise chapters arranged to form a journey for the reader- a path from the straight-and-narrow into wide-open fields of frivolity- The Hedonism Handbook will help readers master the lost arts of leisure and pleasure. It provides an entertaining, yet (if you're not careful), life-changing read.

Eye opening reading.......2007-09-10
This book really opened my eyes to the leisure and pleasure I was missing in life. Most people assiocate Hedonism with orgies. Not the case. I let a friend borrow this book and she miss placed it. I enjoyed it so much that this is the second time I purchased it. If you think work and money are the only things in life then you MUST get this book. Stop and Smell the roses.
a cure against the rat race ??.......2007-05-13
In particular interesting book for people who work 60h+ per week and have no fun. Or people feeling in a mid life crysis. A gem of a book. Some highlights;
o our obsession with dieting (enjoy food, dress well...feel well)
o the mad race about being number one (yes, there are alternatives)
o review on your deadbed (can be a wack up call for some)
Well written and always with 'littel slap on the head' remarks like; if i want it it must be right or life is short, so i must dress well.
I'm finishing now and enjoy with my partner some care-free time, wine, s... and a cigarette ;-)
Phenomenal Book!.......2007-03-10
I am a sex-book author...so it was GREAT pleasure to read a book with so much Hedonist insight. If nothing else, this book shows us how we often short-change ourselves from a Life of leisure and pleasure. What is also wonderful about this book is that it is a quick-n-easy read, featuring chapters that one can mentally devor in as-little as twenty-minutes! A great book to bring-along for a lunch or give to a friend. Nannette LaRee Hernandez
Short and Sweet.......2006-05-24
The book was short and good hearted, but was more of a brief history of hedonism with a splash of advice. It did have good sugestions but I felt the author repeated himself often. The book could have easily been a third of the length and not have kept any material out. The book gets a three for it's good intentions.
One of the best books I've read.......2006-05-22
When I first got this book I had a minor interest in it, I thought it would just be an amusing read, but I loved it. I've always been ambitious and very goal-orientated but after reading this book I now have a different (better) perspective on things and it's helped me to relax. This book talks about how people like to achieve things just to boost their ego, even if it isn't what they'd really like to be spending their time doing. The title of the book sounds a little shallow and superficial but it's actually quite detailed about the points it makes - giving historical and modern day examples. Even if you don't agree with everything the author suggests (some things are not practical, but most are) it can still be an insightful and entertaining read.
