Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Textile Designs: Two Hundred Years of European and American Patterns Organized by Motif, Style, Color, Layout, and Period
ASIN: 030010183X |
Book Description
Founded in 1951 by visionary textile designer Armi Ratia and her husband, Viljo, the Marimekko Corporation in Finland not only sparked a revolution in pattern making but also pioneered a new definition of fashion that embraced the entire home environment. This book-the first comprehensive study of Marimekko designs-presents more than one hundred examples of the exuberant Marimekko fashions and home furnishings that gave the company a definitive presence on the world design stage. The book considers the history of the company from its founding through today and examines Marimekko's impact on design in Finland and around the world. The company's most important designers, including Maija Isola and Vuokko Eskolin-Nurmesniemi, their contributions, and their stylistic development are also discussed. In addition, the book examines Marimekko home and office interiors and how they reflected the lifestyle envisioned in Armi Ratia's broad, radical definition of fashion.
Customer Reviews:
Finnish masters.......2005-06-08
This book will liberate you from your everyday's worries. Get carried away by the splendor of Finnish Marimekko, by travelling with them to Northern Europe. A place where people endure long dark winters to enjoy three months of summer-paradise. Always in an overwhelming nature, bound to make you feel a little lonely.
By concentrating on clothing and home-environment, Marimekko superbly reflects this lifestyle. With a distinctive link to the Sixties, by the way. Besides providing a thorough picture of this company's artistic whereabouts, this book leaves you in no doubt Marimekko ranks among the finest designs in the world. There's one afterthought, though: being utterly Scandinavian, one wonders if Marimekko appeals much to American taste.
a thorough tribute to a design giant.......2004-03-11
I just saw the last weekend of this show in New York at the Bard Center and it was inspired, to say the least. The book is the next best thing to being there if you are a Marimekko fan. It is a more thorough look at the company than the older title "marimekko phenomenon". The editor of this book, Marianne Aav (also the show's curator) was responsible for the 1998 show/book from the Bard Center on Finnish Modern Design. Marimekko's brave colors, shapes, and graphics are made more powerful, in my mind, by the fact that the final result appears so simple. While I mourn the lack of this in much of today's clothing/textile design, I think that the renewed excitement about Marimekko, and design in general, indicates that this is changing. There is a lot of exciting material coming out of Scandanavia and Finland by young designers right now, but Marimekko's influence on modern design cannot be underestimated. Their vision ranged beyond textiles into architecture as well, which the book illustrates. This exhibit & accompanying book have done a fine job at giving credit where it's due.

Book Description
Hideous hats, ridiculous wraps, embarrassing neckties, and more they're all on display at The Museum of Kitschy Stitches, a photographic gallery of knitting and crocheting horrors. Want to see sci-fi inspired headgear from the 1940s? Gender-bending sweater sets from the '50s and '60s? Groovy outerwear from the '70s? Museum curator Stitchy McYarnpants has sifted through decades of vintage catalogs, patterns, and advertisements to assemble this astonishingly awful collection. Along the way, she provides sidesplitting commentary about the models and their very unfortunate fashion choices. It's essential reading for knitters and nostalgia buffs!

Love those old shoes.......2007-02-03
If you love shoes, you'll love this calendar. Each morning enjoy a new shoe. The exquisite photography showcases the very finest details of the shoes - for example, you can almost feel the suede on a flapper shoe from the 1920s. See shows from all different times and places. Formal shoes, play shoes and functional shoes. My favorites are from the 18th century but there's something for everyshoe lover out there.

Great gift for shoe-lovers.......2007-09-02
My co-worker loves shoes, and the shoe calendar is the best gift I've ever given her. She takes it with her when she visits friends who live in other parts of the country and who share her shoe-mania. They have a wonderful time looking at the big, bright photos together. I feel that this is a gift my friend will keep long after December 2008. Big hit!

wearable, collectible art form.......2003-07-02
I bought this book for my daughter who has an obsession with unique handbags. This was the perfect gift for her! Not only does it show hundreds of designs, the book tells the fascinating story of Judith Leiber and gives a glimpse into the creative mind of this world-famous craftsman
(crafts-w o m a n). The handbags she has designed are whimsical AND elegant, and are coveted by celebrities and socialites. The book is interesting, inspiring and a whole lot of FUN. I highly recommend it to anyone who appreciates imagination, creativity, and uniqueness. BORING it's not!
The Art of the Handbag.......2001-12-13
I read the book in my daughters home some time ago and just had to have a copy of my own. Unfortunately I had to purchase it at an inflated price as the book is out of print.
Ms. Lieber's story is such an inspiring one of a woman who is typical of what the American Dream is all about. She had a skill and took that skill to rise to the top. She is imaginative, creative, skillful and an unyielding artist. Her bags are now being copied by people but the fine artistery and quality are difficult to copy. She uses superior materials or use to. She is now retired and sold the business. The quality still prevails.
One of the best stories in the book is the one about the woman who called her friends to join her at her home for a dinner party. The hostess asked each woman to bring her Judith Lieber jeweled bag. The woman placed the bags down the middle of the table, surrounded them by votive candles and that was her center piece.
A clever idea with outstanding, glittery and beautiful handbags. I never thought I'd be able to own a Judith Lieber bag, but one of my daughter's can afford them and lavishly spoils her mother. My dream is to save enough money to purchase one on my own. They are absolutely beautiful bags and it is a terrific book.
Beautiful photographs.......2001-10-31
I purchased this book because I want to buy a Leiber bag - I was disappointed that it didn't have more bags pictured - there are so many! It wasn't so helpful in helping me find a bag I like - I still haven't purchased one!
I have not read book.......1999-08-31
I need to review have not read book. I am interested in a book that demonstrates making purses.

Great for historical sewers.......2007-02-02
There are buttons for everyone in this book whether you rate high in precision crafts, or low in patience. The directions and illustrations are great and the buttons turn out beautiful. Nancy Nehring includes a breif history about many of the buttons and when and where they were popular. A wonderful resource for the historical re-enactor and historic demonstrations. And great to use when you are re-enacting, and lose a button.
50 Heirloom Buttons.......2006-11-26
Most books of this sort are by and large garbage. This one is a keeper. Unsual ideas for needle work buttons, and how to make them. Very nice.
Now i know where the expression "cute as a button" came from.......2004-08-02
My dream is that one day i will have enough free time to try all sorts of crafts. For that purpose, i hoard crafts books, including this one.
I haven't made any of the buttons in this book, but i have read over the instructions of the majority. Honestly, i think i can make at least the easy and the moderate projects. Nancy Nehring's explanations are very clear, and easy to follow. Still, though, i would have liked more diagrams in a step-by-step way (at least for the basic styles).
The photographs are gorgeous, and they certainly do justice to the many beautiful styles of buttons depicted.
50 Heirloom Buttons to Make by Nancy Nehring.......2002-04-06
I was very pleased with my oder. It was shipped to me in less time than stated, it arrived in the exact condition it was described to be in and it is exactly what I had thought it would be. It is a great source of button making for anyone who is interested in the craft and the directions and illustrations are easy and clear. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves buttons for whatever reason.
On my top ten list..........1999-10-22
...of best needlework books. Nehring's careful scholarship has produced a thoughtful, clear guide to recreating textile buttons that might have been lost to this Generation of Glueguns and Three-minute crafts. Her instructions are clear and concise, the samples are well-made and appealing, and Tullis's photography is sharp and detailed. She lists suppliers in the back and techniques in the table of contents. Although some require experience in crochet, most buttons are readily accessible to the needlework beginner. My only regret is that it doesn't seem available in hardback, because I've worn out my copy through completing many of the projects. It would have been helpful had the backs of the buttons (besides the two or three shown) been shown for finishing techniques. I wish that extant buttons from earlier eras had been depicted besides the one meagre split photo on pp. i and 1.
This book inspires me every time I open it; I love it.

Daily eye candy.......2007-02-28
My officemate bought this calendar for me at a discount. The photos are very well taken, the paper is high quality, glossy card stock with half of the year printed on one side of the cards, and the other half on the other side of the cards. Many of the purses are vintage or museum quality. This makes a wonderful gift.

what they wore at Williamsburg.......2006-05-19
This is a carefully researched, beautifully photographed monograph on everyday clothing and high style fashions worn by early Americans during this important century in our history. A valuable resource for costume designers, writers, re-enactors, and historians, it also provides documentation and suggestions for further study.
