Book Description

Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.

Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.

5 out of 5 stars Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09

There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.

For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.

It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.

4 out of 5 stars History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10

Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.

I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.

Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.

Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.

I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.

This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

2 out of 5 stars The Complete Book of Silk Screen Printing.......2007-09-06

An interesting historical look at the nuts and bolts of screen printing in the early times. Fascinating for history buffs but of limited practical use in today's world.

At its original publication it would have provided an incredible insight in to the then modern techniques.

1 out of 5 stars Screen Printing History.......2002-09-19

If you want a good history from the 60's of screen printing then this is the book for you. It was first published in 1963 and hasn't been updated since. Old black and white pictures are included that would be seen in an old Popular Mechanics to include the hand drawn illustrations. If your looking to review or learn new techniques or just refresh your memory this is not the book to get. I'm starting my own business and after being out of it for a few years I was wanting a refresher book I could look to. This was not the one.

5 out of 5 stars Complete Step by Step Process.......2001-03-09

This book gives a clear and complete picture of every aspect of press operation and silk screen technique-from individually operated manual presses to modern automatic presses capable of turning out 2000-3000 impressions an hour-and indicates the subject, this volume includes practically everything of importance known about the silk screen process.

1 out of 5 stars don't waste your time.......2000-02-16

if you are looking for a D.I.Y. book on silk screening look elsewhere. this is more of a historical review of the process. the book was copywritten in the '60's so there isn't any "new technology" in the content.

Book Description

More than simply thought-provoking, A Short Course in Kindness challenges and inspires the reader to effect change through kindness. In warm and engaging prose, this book explains true kindness as opposed to mere niceness and explores its power and benefits. It motivates individuals to exhibit and practice kindness, describing in clear and simple terms ways to integrate kindness as the response of choice. Included are techniques for developing the ability to empathize with others and strategies for being kind to oneself.

Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars Basic.......2007-08-07

I was surprised at how basic this book is! If you are philosophically inclined and if you have ever devoted some time to exploring the subject of kindness, then I believe you'll find this book as unchallenging as I have. I lost interest in it almost completely by the 40th page and struggled with it through the end. On the other hand, if this subject is new to you (you have neither really thought about it nor read any books about it), then I would recommend it, because it offers some ideas not encountered in everyday conversations. I would even guess that people who read a lot would not like it, because the subject of kindness is explored through literature too.
I gave it a very low rating because:
1. I think that the content of the book does not nearly justify the price of 10 $(130 small pages with not much substance)
2. the author has no advanced knowledge/ideas on the subject and adds nothing new to what is already out there. Also, the subtitle (importance of love and relative unimportance of everything else) is not argued.

5 out of 5 stars Is Kindness Inevitable?.......2005-03-22

The first thing that struck me when I read this inspirational little book was Forrest's proactive definition of kindness. Kindness is not an insincere compliment or an empty "call me if you need help." Kindness requires us to give something of ourselves. It doesn't have to be a huge sacrifice, either. It is one part empathy, one part compassion, one part charity. Kindness is giving the perfect gift without the holiday.

But more than telling us what kindness is and isn't, Forrest inspires the reader to be kind. She does so most powerfully by seeding her pages with first-hand accounts of the effects of kindness on every day people like you and me. For this reader, these stories conjured memories of kind acts that were bestowed upon me, reminding me how a smile or a hug at just the right moment got me through some of my most painful experiences. Surely, I thought to myself as I read, these are things I could do for others.

And that is my favorite part about reading A Short Course in Kindness. The feeling I come away with that kindness is inevitable. It is in our nature. Despite the horror that the news media report to us every day, examples of people being kind to each other abound. I wish this book was required reading!

Forrest's writing style is warm and humorous, and she isn't afraid to share her own painful experiences. The chapters are short, yet quite moving. I find it makes for great reading whenever I catch myself with a few minutes to spare. I'll read a few pages at bedtime, click off the light, and slip off to sleep feeling peaceful and optimistic. It's the kind of book that you will want to read more than once.

5 out of 5 stars Fierce Kindness.......2003-09-16

Kindness is not wimpy, not "nice", not for the faint of heart. In this little gem of a book Ms. Forrest shows us time after time that kindness takes courage, strength and ultimately the decision in the moment to reach out to those around us, one by one. "We can save the world, because we are the world," the author tells us. There have been a few titles in my lifetime that I have given to the people in my life who are closest to me. "A Short Course in Kindness" has joined that list. Buy this, read it, and then live it in your day to day life - you won't be sorry.

5 out of 5 stars A short but powerful course in kindness.......2003-06-15

If you desire to have a kinder, gentler, more compassionate soul when dealing with others or when dealing with life itself then this book provides a roadmap to get there. "A Short Course in Kindness" points out the difference between just being nice, which many people are at times, and being truly kind. Kindness is a way of life, a way of being. The author points out techniques to learn to be kind by empathizing with others and as well as techniques to learn how to be kind to yourself (an aspect of kindness that many people overlook). Not just content to explore kindness, she also explores the enemies of kindness and how to keep them at bay. If you want to change yourself and change your world you can't go wrong with this book. "A Short Course in Kindness" is a recommended read.

5 out of 5 stars Welcome and recommended reading.......2003-05-22

A Short Course In Kindness by Margot Silk Forest (Founder of The Healing Woman, a non-profit organization for adults recovering from childhood abuse) is a thoughtful and thought-provoking collection of anecdotes, insights, humor, sadness, and wisdom about what true kindness is, and how to embrace and express it in our daily lives. A gentle and uplifting self-help book offering advice to sowing and reaping the blessings of good deeds, A Short Course In Kindness is welcome and recommended reading.

This is a charming tale of how a Chinese empress supposedly discovered silk thread in a cocoon, which led to the making of silk cloth for imperial dress. It also tells why the Chinese kept the process a secret for 3,000 years. The book includes background information for the legend. It's a wonderful introduction to the process of silk making, and as a sixth grade teacher, I plan to use it in my teaching about China, silk making, and silk trade. Elementary and middle school children studying about China will enjoy and appreciate this book; so might adults who like wearing silk.

You name it she tells you how to do it. For beginner & Intermediate silk painters. Educational, Informative and well formatted. My only suggestion is a ring binding so the book could lay flat when it is being used for refeence.

5 out of 5 stars Silk Painting: The Artist's Guide to Gutta and Wax Resist Techniques.......2006-11-03

An excellent, comprehensive guide for the beginning silk painter. The author demonstrates many inspirational designs and recommends her preferences for dyes (by brand), gutta, and other resist options. I've not painted on silk before and, after reading this book, I feel I have all the knowledge I need to begin painting on silk.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic resource.......2006-08-17

I love this book! I think the blend of historical content and variety of techniques described make this the perfect book in your resource library!

4 out of 5 stars Good Inspiration.......2002-08-18

This book has great, inspirational photos and very good instructions. My main disappointment with it is the authors attitude toward silk paints (i.e., not dyes). I have used several varieties of the paints that are made to mimic dyes and find them to work very well, leave the silk soft and be very easy to use. They are a great way for a beginner to get started and try most of the same techniques used with dyes without the hassle of steaming or the toxicity. I am glad that I had some experience silk painting before I got this book because her attitude would have discouraged me from every trying. Aside from that - it's an excellent book, worth the price and full of great pictures to inspire you.

5 out of 5 stars ONE STOP SILK PAINTING BOOK - INSPIRIATIONAL.......2001-11-15

This is THE best book I have read on silk painting and I have't seen another to better it in the past 10 years. There ARE other books on the same subject that are good, but I certainly haven't felt the need to purchase another since I thumbed through this beauty!

Everything you could possibly want to know in relation to silk painting is covered in a consise and presise manner. This is supported by photo demostrations for various techniques not easily explained through the written word. The authors pratical experience shines through in the text and fablously gorgeous photos of her and other artists work.

The book is full colour with lots and lots of sensational photos. Much of the silk painting shown is very detailed work eg flowers, pictures; rather than overall "textures" or designs which is more often what you find in other books on the same subject.

Seriously consider this fantastic book if you are interested in this subject, it is worth every $, if only for the inspiration provided by the fablous photos

    Book Description

Silk has long been considered a symbol of wealth and luxury. But thousands of years ago, the production of silk cloth was one of China's most prized secrets. So how did silk become one of the most sought-after materials in the world?

With lavish illustrations and a highly informative text, The Silk Route traces the early history of the silk trade-from the mulberry groves of China to the marketplace in Byzantium-and explores how two of the world's greatest empires were brought together, forever opening the channels of commerce between East and West.

4 out of 5 stars A great book to add to your floral crafting collection.......2002-04-04

This is another wonderful floral craft publication from Leisure Arts. To avoid repetitition I invite you to view my reviews of "How to Arrange Dried Florals If You Think You Can't" and "How to Do Wreaths If You Think You Can't" as both of these books follow the same format as this one. The only reason I have not rated this book as well as the others is that I prefer the finished look that only high quality "silks" can achieve and not all projects in this book achieve this look. Still, there are nearly 90 projects for your review and the vast majority of them deserve credit.

5 out of 5 stars A Highly Practical and Usable Intro to Silkscreening Techniques.......2007-07-03

I bought this book in 1971 and used it to create a silkscreen illustration for my university thesis. I got very satisfactory and professional looking results on my first try. For anyone, experienced artist or not, who wants to start silkscreening or just try it once, this book plus a trip to the art supply store is all you need. The book starts out with an overview of silkscreening history, basic principles, and basic equiment. It then presents five different methods with liberal photos of examples for each method: paper stencil, block-out stencil, Tusche stencil, film stencil, and photographic stencil. You chose the method most appropriate for the end result you want to achieve. There are step-by-step procedures given for each method, liberally illustrated with sketches. The book concludes with chapters on the ins and outs of multicolor printing, color properties of pigments in oils and tempera, and tricks and techiques of printing. All in all a tremendous amount of practical how-to information in a relatively small volume... very complete and efficient. I highly recommend this book. The only thing missing -- due to its age (1958) -- is computer-assisted techniques; however that is for a different book. This book is not for keyboarders in their home offices. It is for artists and hobbyists who want to see, touch, and smell real hardware, tools, inks, paints... preferably in a messy and paint spattered studio or workshop.

    1 out of 5 stars Ancient History.......2002-09-19

This book has a beautiful cover. With that said, this book is a history of screen printing. Written in 1958, it doesn't even come close to being up to date. No new revisions. Not worth your time unless your a screen printing historian.

    Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars The only one - unfortunately.......2005-02-03

As other reviewers have pointed out, this is the only guide that contains a number of Central Asian languages. This monopoly is quite unfortunate, since this book cannot really be recommended. There are good courses in many Central Asian languages, - "Modern Literary Uzbek" and "Beginner's Guide to Tajiki" - so if you're going to visit just one country you'll be far better of with one of them. The author of this book is a specialist on the Uyghur language and it shows. As far as I can tell, the Uyghyr chapter is very good. Unfortunately, some other chapters are really bad. My main points are:

    1. The languages presented
The authors have decided to focus mainly on six languages: Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Pashto, Tajik, Uyghur and Uzbek. These languages get about 30 pages each, while the remaining eight languages get an average of 5 pages each. For some reason, the Dari language isn't even mentioned in this book. In terms of speakers, it is the second largest language of Afghanistan after Pashto - however, it is the general lingua franca of the country and the language of most major cities, including the capital Kabul. While it is true that Dari and Tajik are extremely close, there are still a number of differences. Travellers to Afghanistan should definitely look for another phrase book than this one.

    2. The maps
The six main languages are all introduced together with a map showing where they are spoken. I'm sorry to say that the maps are spectacularly wrong. The fact that many languages are shown as the spoken language in a certain area or city is no problem, many areas of Central Asia are bilingual or even trilingual.
    a. Uyghur. As far as I can say, this map is correct, just as the chapter on Uyghur.
    b. Uzbek. The Uzbek map is not as silly as some other maps, but it's still wrong. That the mainly Tajik cities of Samarkand and Bukhara are included in the Uzbek language area is absolutely correct, both have significant Uzbek minorities. Some areas of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan are definitely Uzbek speaking, but this map would have us believe that the Uzbek areas cover more than 50% of the two republics respectively. That is not the case.
    c. Kyrgyz. This map is just incredible. Cities such as the Tajik capital of Dushanbe, the former Kazakh capital Almaty, the two Tajik speaking cities Bukhara and Samarkand in Uzbekistan and the Uzbek Ferghana valley are all shown as Kyrgyz speaking... Of course there might be some Kyrgyz speakers living in each of these cities, but so are there in London and New York. None of these cities have even a mentionable Kyrgyz minority, not to speak of a majority.
    d. Kazakh. This map is even worse. It correctly covers all of Kazakhstan but it also covers ALL of Uzbekistan and about 80% of Tajikistan. The Kazakh population in these countries are 3% and 2% respectively.
    e. Pashto. Also a map made at random, and the one most likely to cause offence. All of Afghanistan is shown to be Pashto speaking. In reality, it's about 50% of the area of Afghanistan and 40% of the people. The major cities of Kabul, Mazar-e-Sharif and Herat are all populated by Dari speaking Tajiks, yet at this map they are all shown to be Pashtuns. Even the Panjshir valley, the heartland of the Tajiks, is shown to be Pashto speaking. Apart from that, the Baluchi speaking areas are also shown to be Pashto speaking.
    f. Tajik. Another confusing map. Tajikistan is of course shown to be Tajik speaking, as are the Uzbek area around Samarkand and Bukhara. More incredibly, even the Uzbek capital of Tashkent (in which Russian dominates and Uzbek comes in second) is shown to be Tajik speaking. What really makes one laugh is that even the south of Kazakhstan and the Kyrzyz(!) capital are shown to be Tajik speaking. In stark contrast to the "gains" by the Tajik language, the vast areas of Afghanistan, including Kabul, that are Tajik speaking are blank on this map.

    3. The language descriptions
I'll start with a confession: I don't speak many of these languages and I cannot say how correct the descriptions are. I do speak Russian and have to say that I have never seen a more faulty description. The pronunciation this book uses is so far from the actual pronunciation that you won't stand the remotest chance of being understood. I get by in Tajik and the pronunciation table given here is beyond belief. Out of a total of six vowels, five(!) are given a pronunciation that is just wrong. According to this book, the Tajik "o" is pronounced as in English "go". It's not, it's pronounced as the "a" in "all" or the "aw" in "law". The word Tajik "ston" rhymes with English "lawn", not with "stone". In the Mandarin section, all the four tones of the language are ignored!! As even a beginner could have told the authors, the tones are absolutely crucial for speaking Chinese.

I agree with the reviewer who called for grammar descriptions of the main languages in this book. If such descriptions were introduced, if the maps were corrected, if the pronunciation guidelines were written from scrach, if Dari was included and if the sections on Russian and Mandarin were more substantial, this would be a rather good book.

4 out of 5 stars A useful introduction to Central Asian languages.......2004-09-23

Rudelson's guide is the best - but only - guide to Central Asian languages that I've come across. For languages like Uighur and Turkmen, it's about all that's available, which makes it a must-have for visitors to Central Asia.

The greatest feature of Rudelson's effort is also its biggest drawback: a common adaptation of our alphabet to represent all the languages covered. This allows for ease of pronunciation and helps the reader see the differences in pronunciation and similarities in vocabulary among the different Turkic languages. However, this makes it difficult to use with (the few) other resources without first drawing up one's own tables of spelling conventions. Still, it's worth the trouble.

The only other drawback is the lack of a good grammar section. It's not necessary to give all the details but more information on how Turkic languages agglutinate, how Iranian languages express "to be," and such would be helpful.

5 out of 5 stars A useful, easy to use book!.......2001-09-03

I strongly recommend that anyone going to Central Asia get this book. It is full of necessary phrases that will help you get where you need to go. It is very compact and can fit easily into a pocket. It is also very comprehensive, containing large sections of phrases in Uyghur, Uzbek, Kyrgyz, Kazakh, Pashto, and Tajik, plus smaller sections on ten other regional languages. Also, it has a section outlining the history of Central Asian languages and certain grammatical/linguistic essentials.

Again, if you are going to Central Asia, invest in this book!

4 out of 5 stars It has lots info with 16 different central asian languages.......1999-03-17

It has good information about meeting people, riding trains, booking hotels, and even seeing a doctor. It has lots of facts about greetings and the countries too. I recomend this book.

    3 out of 5 stars A reasonabley good effort.......1998-12-29

I thought that the structure of the guide is such that it makes it rather difficult for a person to begin to construct his own phrases with what has already been given. There should be more information about the basic grammer of turkic languages.

Elevating silk painting to a high art form, this lushly illustrated book turns simple scarf decoration on its head. Some of the painted designs are so intricately detailed they look almost like photographs; others resemble glorious watercolor paintings. Techniques and tools are clearly explained, as are working with color and exploring design ideas. Be forewarned, however: a good portion of the book is devoted to advanced techniques, so the novice silk painter may not be able to jump right in. But for those with some prior experience, this volume really shines as a source of instruction and inspiration.

    Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars A great book to have.......2004-04-13

I hope this book will be back in print. It is beautifully illustrated and shows more than the standard silk painting techniques. The author introduces us, step-by-step, to various Asian techniques, which are really interesting. This book is written for beginning and advanced silk painters, so she also discusses the advantages and disadvantages of various dyes, waxes and resists, how to use them on various silks, and which tools (both Western and Asian) work best -- accompanied by lots of photographs so that you know what she is talking about.
    It's a book worth having.

5 out of 5 stars Moyer's two books are the best available on silk painting.......1999-04-04

This is Moyer's second book. You need to understand her first book well before getting this one. But then DEFINITELY get it. Several other silk painting authors have followed a good first book with terrible 2nd and 3rd ones. That is certainly not true of Moyer. This book is every bit as excellent as her wonderful first book.

5 out of 5 stars This Book Just Keeps Working.......1999-01-30

This book contains a lot of basic, hands-on info on equipment and practical aspects of silk painting technique. What I have noticed most, is that everytime I go back to this book as my skill and experience increase, I grasp and learn more. Things I didn't pick up at all on from my earlier readings suddenly become real and make sense. This book concentrates heavily on wax, gutta and screen printing techniques. Roketsu-zome and alcohol techniques are covered in a very step-by-step, practical way. There is a lot of surface design, as well as garment design info. If you are interested in block printing, bleach discharge, or shibori, you would do better to choose another title. Complex Cloth by Dunneworld is another fabulous textile book that covers almost every technique. Highly recommend!

5 out of 5 stars The Number Two Book of Silk Painters.......1998-09-07

If you are a serious silk painter, this is the book for you. Beginners need to start with the first Susan Moyer book which contains a plethora of info for those just starting. If you silk paint as a hobby or just for fun, this is it! Suusan Moyer obviously loves silk as much as you do!
