Customer Reviews:
Incredible Book don't be fooled by others.......2006-11-08
I went to fashion school, worked for large high end lines, did the whole deal. I was lucky that in one of my classes they made us read this book. This book is basically the bible to the apparel industry. I would say only 10% of this industry is design the other 90% is business which is covered completely in this book. I've looked into other similar books and they are great for the design aspects, but nothing covers the business end like this book, don't waste you time with other titles this is the one to read if you really want to know how to start your own line.
Fashion for Profit is the Fashion Bible!.......2006-06-27
I advise anyone who is trying to come out with a line to read this book and purchase the DVD! This book is a great reference guide - something good to always keep on stand by. Very useful if you want to do things right!
Customer Reviews:
A bit of a strain for non-students of the industry.......2006-03-03
Very informative - yet just not what I would have imagined. It would terrific it told you how to create your fashion business from scratch.
I used this book for a class..........2004-07-20
This book was to be purchased for my "Business of Fashion" class. What a great purchase. After the class was over I didn't turn it back in to get money for it. I kept it knowing that someday I may want a reference guide. It was a great investment!
A very good introduction and view into the Fashion Business.......1999-06-15
I not only learned alot from reading this book but actually enjoyed the reading considering it's a text book. As someone who's trying to get back into the fashion industry after a 20 year hiatus; I feel that I have the knowledge I need to head in the direction I want to go now. I really liked how they used real companies for examples and at the end of each chapter they have an explanation of a job in the industry with comments from people in those jobs. There's lots of charts, lists of important contacts, calendars of events, etc that will be important to anyone starting a fashion business or wanting to find a job in fashion. It's worth the money if you can't afford to go to school for this.

Customer Reviews:
NOT WORTH THE MONEY.......2006-06-23
Book is very small with pictures of super high end stores. You know...2000 sq feet to showcase 10 t shirts.
Not for many people with stores. Go to Vegas and look at the stores there. At least you will get something for your money...

Customer Reviews:
One of the BEST!!.......2004-06-29
I don't think that I can say anymore than whats alreasy been said about how ABSOLUTELY GREAT this book is.
It really is a great resource to own. It has everything from layout (which one is the best and which ones aren't), to resume, to interview information. It also encourages you to think out of the box a bit by showing you what everyone wlse os doing.
Once agian excellent resource for up-an-coming fashion designers/students and even those who have left and are returning to the fashion industry.
Excellent.......2003-08-11
A great book for more advanced Designers, show you different presentations of portfolio...Great but I wish that the pictures were in colors not in B&W.
~Did What I Needed It To Do~.......2003-03-11
I purchased this book to help me with my portfolio layout for acceptance to the Fashion Institute of Technology. Although I needed to follow FITs guidelines, I feel that I gained a lot of great knowledge and excellent ideas and inspiration by referencing this book before submitting my portfolio to FIT. I am proud to say that I was accepted and will now be referencing the book to put together my portfolio for interviews in the industry.
Take your designs to the next level.......2001-08-23
For someone who loves to sew and is looking on how to bring their designs to the next level, then this is the book for you. It chocked full of great tidbits and even provides several portfolio options for the novice beginner. For great inspiration, it features sketches from up and coming designers and the established guard before they were on the map. Great reference book for hard core design fashionistas!!
Excellent resource for creating professional presentations.......2000-09-10
This is an excellent book for anyone in the field of fashion or textile design who needs to make presentations to clients. Plenty of information on how to organize your thought processes as well as give your presentations impact. I would most certainly recommend this book to someone just starting out in the fashion industry. Even seasoned professionals could gain some new information on becoming more creative in their presentation of their product lines.
