A Lot More Than Just Pictures!.......2006-09-15
After receiving my first set of crotchless panties as a gift - and loving `em - I must've had lingerie-on-the-brain, so I impulsively picked up this cute little book.
To my surprise, this tome was more than just a series of pictures. It had quite a bit of panty history - starting with the Old School Glamour where panties were thicker, higher, and made of silk; followed by some of the more modern favorites, such as Thongs, G-Strings, Classic Cotton and Sports Briefs; and finishing, where else (?) but with the panties of Celebrities (the Rich & Famous).
Several of the chapters begin by briefly highlighting some of the most successful underwear makers in the world (companies I had never heard of) - names like Rigby & Peller, Bonds, Sloggi, and Cosabella.
The most interesting chapter -- also with the best pictures - is the one that covers Thongs! Warning - if a woman's rear view is a favorite of yours - then you'll probably find this section to be quite enjoyable!
Of the color photos scattered throughout the book - my personal favorites include a rear upskirt view of a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader as she's bending over during a game; a view from behind of a Victoria's Secret angel wearing a V-String on stage; all of the pictures of thongs; a posterior view of a cute contestant in the Lingerie Bowl held in Los Angeles; a frontal flying-skirt view of Serena Williams hitting a forehand (which was hot!); and a provocative print ad for Elle MacPherson's lingerie (which was censored in her native Australia) which shows a voyeur's through-a-peephole view of a woman removing her knickers - with her deeply inserted thumb leading the way!
Other celebrities who offer lingerie include Kylie Minogue (singer) with her LoveKylie line; Heidi Fleiss (of prostitution fame) with her HeidiWear label; a series of items by Jenifer Lopez (singer, actress); and lastly, even some underwear from Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen (actresses).
As an interesting fact - the author claims that crotchless panties were originally developed to provide greater ventilation (and not for easier access). Yeah, right!
As my final observation, this book is also surprisingly up-to-date -- especially as it describes how thongs, which reigned supreme for an entire generation of girls - have finally started to wane in their appeal.
Because of the text's seriousness - this is a volume I can leave out on my nightstand - where my husband might `discover' it!
The photos aren't so scandalous that they'd make me jealous if he looked. But hopefully they are titillating enough - to get his attention!
In short, `Panties: a brief history' by Sarah Tomczak and Rachel Pask - is a book that's SERIOUS enough for HER - while also being SEXY enough for HIM! I found it to be just delightful!
Not what I expected.......2006-04-24
When I recieved this book in the mail, it was much smaller than I thought it would be. I bought it because of the cover of the book. The best thing about the book are the pictures. There are different types of underwear and advertisements for them (such as one from the Elle McPhereson lingerie line where many magazines banned the advertisements because they were too provacative). The book doesn't go too much in detail about the history of the underwear. All in all, it's a quick read but you don't learn too much.
A Nice Read.......2005-10-13
This book tells the story about every new style of panties from bikini to thongs and so on.
Book Description
The best travel stories often hatch when things go completely wrong, and this second title in a series of women's travel humor capitalizes on that phenomenon with more sidesplitting stories of female misadventure around the world. Readers laugh, cry, and commiserate with these women through their memorable mishaps such as gorging on Lebanese chicken to increase their breast size, battling tick paranoia in an Ozark campground, evading the demands of the Turkish mafia, getting even with a prank-fueled convention co-worker, and trolling for straight men in gay London. Showcasing every known type of travel blunder, botch, stumble, and bumble, these rollicking stories come from all reaches of the globe and are told from a quintessentially female point of view.

Great read, good laughs. .......2007-04-29
I stumbled upon this book in our local "Booksmart" bookstore. The first story I browsed was entitled "The Big O". I laughed so loud that the owner of the bookstore came to see what was up. I couldn't stop laughing. There are many funny stories, some less funny than others. Overall a great book. Great travel stories, from places I never even heard. Each story is original and well told. A great read, good laughs.
A Book More of travel observations than humor.......2006-09-12
Searching for some fun books for an upcoming 18 hour plane flight, I bought this book plus "Sand In My Bra" and "The Risks of Sunbathing Topless" by Kate Chynoweth. To be honest, I've got to agree with some of the other reviews here that the stores were not that funny. The story "Adventures of the Mega Chicken" was almost worth buying the book, but others were dull and I ended skimming to the end. A story "Miami Spice" was lifted from a Cosmo article that was published several years ago.
On the other hand, I had tears streaming down my face when reading "The Risks of Sunbathing Topless". I could not stop laughing.
Jennifer Leo has a great idea and I hope she does another book- but perhaps with a little better story editing.
Hilarious.......2006-05-05
This makes Jack Kerouac seem like a pretentious adolescent. Totally down-to-earth and gut-bustingly funny. I'm a guy, I've done my share of travelling, and chicks on the road is the ultimate amusement. Go Jen Leo! Bring more!
Not that funny.......2005-12-16
There was only 1 story that actually got me to chuckle. The rest just didn't strike my funny bone but they were interesting to read about. If you like reading travel adventures...this is a good book to pick up. Funny women....not even close.
Perfect for on the go reading.......2005-03-12
I bought this book when on a cross-country jaunt last year before leaving Seattle. I had finished the books I'd brought with me and now just wanted some short, light-hearted stories about other travelers and their misadventures. I agree with other reviewers in that you don't really want to read these stories all the time, as they get old quickly. However, for times when you just want something to engross you for a while when you're one the road and leave you with some chuckles, it's a good buy. I enjoyed this book thoroughly and look forward to contributing my own misadventures someday. Don't get it if you're expecting some life-changing views on other cultures or travel in general, but get ready to laugh a bit and pass your time with this book in a pleasant way.

We See England, We See Xanth, We See Mels's Underpanth
In fact, Gwenny Goblin, Che Centaur and Jenny Elf are just about the only creatures on Xanth who have been spared the sight of Mela Merwoman's undergarment -- preoccupied as they are with helping Gwenny beat out her awful half-brother Gobble for chiefship of the goblin horde. But first they must master space and thyme . . . and find the fabulous egg that sits between the Roc and the hard place. While Mela -- who would gladly relinquish her oft-viewed undies for a new husband -- joins the Adult Conspiracy . . . and quickly discovers the power of a perfect pair of panties!

Up in a Heaval (Xanth Series).......2007-08-03
Very entertaining. I love the Xanth series.Up In a Heaval: A Xanth Novel (Xanth)
More trashy Anthony.......2005-11-26
Any fantasy fan with half an ounce of sense has known to steer clear of Antony for a long time, but no book has made the reason why as blatently clear as this one.
Anthony's creepy panty fetish is very blatent to anyone who has ever read a Xanth book, but not until now has he made an ENTIRE masturbatory work dedicated to it.
Not even the most rabid pun will be able to derive the slightest enjoyment from this. It's a whumsical romp through Anthony's perverted mind that will disgust you at best and fill you with revulsion at worst.
Although, really, the title and cover could have told you everything I just told you. I don't even know why I picked this one up.
Anthony should have left it alone.......2003-02-06
I have been enthusiatic about the Xanth series for about five years now. I really enjoyed all the earlier books, but this one is just not good. The puns are front loaded into the book and not nearly as funny as usual and I don't care for the preteen girl characters much either. In one part he has them trying on panties forever. It's somewhere between boring, bizarre, and perverted.
Another great Xanth book!.......2001-10-25
Filled with ludicrous puns, an exinting double-storyline, six featured characters, and a full-out battle for a goblin cheifship, The Color of Her Panties is a great book for ages 12+
2 stories in one.......2000-07-03
This book contains multple quest in two story line. Very easy to follow. All the quest are solved and questions answered by everyone pulling together to help Gwenny. A very happy ending.

Pretty Girls in Panties, Plain and Simple.......2007-09-19
Dave Naz's Panties showcases women and panties. Plain and simple, yet oh so gorgeous. Without adornment, he presents women who really do look like the girl next door (not the overly glammed up one, but your literal neighbor) in the almost-nude, clad in simple, even silly cotton panties (Hello Kitty, Krispy Kreme), many looking like they just got out of bed. These fresh-faced babes, some known models and some random girls, stare back at his camera with innocence, defiance, and flirtation. My favorite shots are the teasing ones, where a girl's just about to take off her panties, revealing a glimpse of her ass, but not the whole thing. These models wear their panties like other women wear designer couture, owning every inch of the skimpy cotton as they give us glimpses of pubic hair, or pull the crotch of the panties tight against them. The simplicity of the shots and settings leaves room to admire these women's bodies in all their varied, fleshy forms. Panties + pretty girls = a winning combination, and Naz captures it masterfully.
UGHHH!!!!!!.......2005-10-10
This book will likely fall into two categories for buyers. You'll either love it or hate with no in between. Some of the girls look like they've just turned up for the shoot as is and gone straight into it no prep at all.If the dirty soles of womens feet please some people so be it.Some of the shots were a real turn off.The title was panties it should of been fuglies.Dave Naz has done better work with his legs publication. For this one a price more in the range of $15 to $20 would of been more reasonable.
Appealing: Ordinary Women in Ordinary Undies.......2005-08-31
Overall, I liked this book. Probably because I'm weary of seeing overglamourized women, with artificially enhanced bustlines and a pound of exquisitely applied makeup, portrayed to men (and sometimes to women as a role model) as the stereotype of a woman they should admire. I love women, and I love their smarts and their beauty, but when they are "fake" and made up as bimbos, I lose interest.
What is nice about this book is that the models are girl-next-door types, the women who live in your neighborhood and those you work with, or those you see at the grocery store. No fake boobs (that I noticed), and minimal or no makeup. Just attractive women clad only in their panties.
And the panties, like the models, are ordinary, yet appealing, even kind of sexy in their plainness. No fancy lingerie here. The panties are not the focus in this book, but rather the common element used to tie this book together. The real focus is on the women. Panty fetishists will be disappointed in this book.
What didn't I like about this book?
The photography is flat, or neutral, probably by design. I would prefer to have the photographer use the light more creatively to emphasize his subjects.
The backgrounds, all in a house or apartment, are likewise plain, almost stark, again, probably by design. I would have used some items of furniture so the girls would have something to "work" with. A couple of the women look almost uncomfortable lying on a bare, hard floor. I think the photographer went a bit overboard in keeping his photographs plain and uncluttered.
Last, I would have liked to have seen more of the ladies smiling. Those who are look great! But those who aren't look cool and detached, and some just look bored. Once again, I suspect this was the photograher's intent. If you look at his photo in the back of the book you will see that he, too, has a neutral stare. Nonetheless, more smiles, big ones or coy ones, would have made this volume more interesting to me.
My personal tastes range from the natural nudes, most photographed outdoors, featured in Eolake Stobblehouse's book, "Natural Beauties" to the photos of the 1950s ultimate pinup girl, Bettie Page. This book is somewhere between in this range. It is not a "must have" book, but not one to be passed over, either.
eroticart.......2005-08-10
I can not tell if this book is erotica or if it's art, that's perhaps because I like it so much. I can picture these images in an art gallery and in an erotic magazine
Very Different from the Norm!.......2004-12-01
I found the book to be very interesting. The models are definitely girl next door types. The models posed in a varity of positions and situations. Some of the girls had their panties on while most of the models had their panties pulled down at their feet. The panties worn are everyday panties worn by average girls. These panties are not the panties found in Playboy. For the most part the girls in this book are above average in looks and body type. The one aspect of this book that turned me off a little bit was the amount of tattoos the girls had. I think it was a little excessive but all in all I would reccommend this book.

A smutty classic!.......2004-01-05
This book is absolutely hilarious! It's also completely over the top. The story line of the preacher and the porno actress is one of the best I've read in erotica in a long time. I recommend this one to anyone who enjoys a funny, smutty erotica read.
Reggie strikes again!.......2003-02-19
This is an odd book, combining a porn star with a TV preacher, but--big but here--there is something about it that keeps you turning the pages. (maybe it's all the sex.) It's not over the top...well, it is a little, but it's just so funny and odd I couldn't pass up the chance to give kudos to Mr. Chesterfield. Good job!

Monica Mansfield and James Herriot.......2007-07-29
The spirit of Alf Wight is alive and well and living in Monica Mansfield. Alf Wight is the real life name of James Herriot. In her book, The Black Panties: Tales of Animal Mischief and Veterinary Intrigue, Dr. Mansfield shares with her readers, in the best Herriot tradition, poignant stories of memorable patients from her first year in practice. She also takes time to smell the roses. Her descriptions of the White Mountains of New Hampshire, the setting for the book, will transport you there in every season of the year.
I was a classmate of Monica's at the New York State College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University. If you've ever wondered what it's like to be a veterinarian, read this book. Dr. Mansfield captures the struggles we all experienced in our first year in practice, the task of converting book learning to skills that served both our patients and their owners, learning to trust ourselves through the long nights of self doubt agonizing over difficult cases.
Like Monica, I grew up on the stories of James Herriot and have been inspired by them throughout my career. Now I have a new book to put on the shelf with Herriot. Thank you, Monica, for sharing your stories with us and for bringing back the memories of my own first year in practice. I hope that you have continued to keep your diaries and that you will share more of your adventures with us.

What a great read!.......2007-06-18
I thoroughly enjoyed this gem of a book. Mansfield has a wonderful way of telling a story so that the reader feels a closeness to the animal. I highly recommend this book!
Great gift (and read) for animal lovers.......2007-02-16
For anyone who loves animals or ever had childhood dreams of becoming a veterinarian, this is a great read. Told in vignettes that weave together wonderfully, the author shares her story of growing into her veterinary profession - a goal she'd nurtured since childhood. As someone who has had cats all my life - and has thus paid many visits to the vet - I have always wondered what decisions, experience, and character goes into diagnosing and treating these beautiful companions. Ms. Mansfield's stories humanize the veterinarians who treat our beloved pets. The animals she introduces us to in her book snuggle right into the heart and you root and cheer for only the best possible outcomes. Of course, perfect outcomes aren't always possible and the reader goes along on the journey of sometimes heartbreaking endings - a good reminder that a veterinarian's professional life is often touched with tears and sorrow.
There are also beautiful descriptions of the White Mountain region of New Hampshire, friendship, family, and hope.
Since many of the people in my life are fellow animal lovers, I am always on the look-out for great animal-oriented gift books and this title fits the bill perfectly.
The only drawback? Now I want to quit my desk job and become a veterinarian.

Remember the Beginning.......2006-10-20
For The Night We Met anthology, Pamela Morsi, along with two other authors, Colleen Collins and Karen Kendall, has written a story with the theme of remembering the moment when you meet the person that will change your life forever. Three couples celebrate this moment by going on a 3-day cruise in Bangkok.
THE PANTY RAID is the story written by Pamela Morsi and is about Dorothy Wilbur and Hank Brantly, both attending college in 1956.
Dot loves science and wants to use her knowledge after she graduates college. However, everyone, from her father to her professors think that she's only biding her time until she gets married.
Hank falls in love at first sight with Dot even if that first sight is drenched by a bucket of cold water. He is older than the other students as he served in the military. All his life, he's known what he wants to be - "a man". His dad died in World War II and he saw his mother work at various jobs trying to support her family until she met a man and remarried. When Hank meets Dot, he begins to understand what his mother must have gone through.
The story is well told and puts the reader in the time period of the 50's where she can feel the frustration that Dot feels. Even the Dean of Women at the school, who is female, informs Dot that a woman cannot have both a career and a family. Dot is determined to prove everyone wrong until she meets Hank. And she wonders, is everybody right?
As Dot and Hank get to know each other and as they attend a seasonal ball sponsored by the men in a nearby dorm, the reader keeps asking if the hero and heroine will be able to work out their personal conflicts to reach their happily-ever-after ending.
Check out Morsi's story, THE PANTY RAID, as well as the other two stories in the anthology, and remember the time you fell in love with your hero.
fun look back.......2006-10-09
"The Panty Reid" by Pamela Morsi. In the 1950s, high school and college staff discouraged girls from studying advanced science curriculum. Dot knows that first hand, but loves science and is taking organic chemistry in spite of the scorn. During a panty raid fellow student Hank joins his male peers on lingerie larceny, but is caught by campus police. Attracted to one another, Hank wants the real Dorothy while Dot wonders if the man she loves means costing her dream of becoming a scientist.
"Frame by Frame" by Karen Kendall. World Sophisticate Travel and Lifestyle Magazine Editor Addison warns super talented photographer Pete that he must stop terrorizing those involved with his on site shoots; to keep him in line she sends her assistant Natalie. To his shock, he is attracted to his "guard" while she reciprocates as the big bad wolf's bite is tender.
"Three Wishes" by Colleen Collins. In 1971 San Francisco Chronicle junior reporter Christie is undercover working on an assignment on how it feels to be an antiwar activist. At the military recruiting station, she tries to get military recruits to sign her petition. Air Force Captain Mac demands she leave, but she refuses so he has arrested, but not before he kisses her. That night he bails her out so that she can spend Thanksgiving with loved ones, which turns out to be him.
The three couples are on a tour in Thailand when they exchange the tales of their first meeting with their life mate. The authors provide solid contributions, but especially fascinating are the feels for the 1950s and 1971 as we've come a long way baby.

psychologically qualified yet girlfriend-friendly advice.......2007-10-01
Have you ever had a girlfriend who just got you and could make you see that you were overreacting but would also make you feel completely at ease with your idiosyncrasies? Aren't they the best? Roz Van Meter offers her psychologically qualified yet girlfriend-friendly advice in her book, "Put Your Big Girl Panties On and Deal With It..." and it's just like having that special girlfriend by your side or a life coach with a fantastic sense of humor on speed dial.
It's a no-nonsense guide to getting what you want, but it's also a little book of inspiration to getting what you need. Roz shares her own stories to relay some messages and also those of people she knows. It's the latest thoughts on self help psychology, marriage, relationship and sex therapy, and life coaching, but it is done in such a light hearted and easy going tone that you don't realize you're getting a bigger message until it has already sunk in. The book is made light and fun by the analogy of knickers in every form and relating them to what you want in life. For instance, figuratively (or literally) putting on those practical, comfortable, business like panties to get a goal attained, or sliding into that risqué g-string when the lights go down in the city for some fun. Humor aside, the book offers advice on everything from how to say no and mean it to how to say yes and feel free enough to enjoy it. It explores ways in which you can reconnect with your inner child and nourish her and also take control and know when to get that kid out from behind the driver's wheel. This book is about organizing your life, one drawer at a time, learning to laugh at yourself, being a friend, and charging head on into passion for life.
Roz Van Meter is a psychotherapist, but she writes like that best friend who spells it all out for you in a fun and endearing way. Buy a copy of "Put Your Big Girl Panties On and Deal With It..." for yourself, one for your husband (who just might learn a thing about the female persuasion), and one for every close girlfriend you have. You'll be looking at yourself and your underwear drawer in a whole new light.
What a deal!!!.......2007-09-13
A positively refreshing read!!!! Great gift for your girlfriends. I bought over a dozen copies for my "big girls" and they all loved it! Roz knows how to get us to celebrate and cherish ourselves. Roz Rocks!!!

Brilliant, Useful, Entertaining Book.......2007-08-31
I'm a guy, and I can truthfully say that this book is so full of great ideas and is so entertaining that it deserves a very large audience of women AND men. Beautifully written, it's is wise and very, very witty. I can't imagine that anyone who buys it won't feel that they've discovered a goldmine of strategies for improving their life, presented in a fun and accessible way. Five stars, and two thumbs WAY up.
Hysterically funny and helpul all in one.......2007-08-30
I am telling all my friends and family about this book. It is hysterical and helpful all at the same time. I'm not usually in to self help books, but this book has kept me cracking up and given me a lot of good ideas. My cousin emailed me that her teacher's group was talking about this book last week and created a new award for their luncheon call the "Put Your Big Girl Panties On" award. How funny is that! As for me. I made a Julia's Matter Meter sign for my new office wall (a version of Roz's Big Deal Scale) to remind me: On a scale of one to ten, how much does some annoyance really matter? Now when things happen at work I can put them in perspective.
big girl panties a delightful treat.......2007-08-21
Roz Van Meter is down-to-earth, witty and wise. Reading this book was like having lunch with a favorite girlfriend. At times there were goosebumps, other times chuckles. Always genuine, never preachy. Still thinking about it. Loved it!
