The margin notes liberally decorating the book are worth a hearty chuckle. The "Sextistics" are particularly fun and eye-opening. Some examples: only 9 percent of people surveyed believe sex appeal is innate; the rest feel it can be acquired!; about 7 percent of women have never climaxed; the majority of male crossdressers are married with children; and, according to the Hite Report, nearly 60 percent of men ages 61 to 75 said their desire for sex remained steady or increased with age, Viagra or no.
Locker, a sex educator and WCBS-TV relationship correspondent, has been a sex educator for more than a decade. That said, she should have placed the facts on contraceptives and sexually transmitted diseases earlier in the book, before the hot and heavy photographs of sexual positions. That gripe aside, Amazing Sex is worth investigating by both sexual neophytes and experienced couples looking to maintain a state of hot monogamy.

This is truly a good read about all things sex and I've many on this site, including this one and Sex Machine: A Man's Guide to What Really Pleases a Woman in Bed as well as other. I was amazed at the amount of know-how the author(s) put into this book. It's almost an A-Z kind of book with most subjects talked about throughout. It was really, really helpful. Don't pass this one up!

I guess I was looking for something else but the book is good for general audience, who already know about sex and everything that comes with it. It describes woman's and man's sexuality, sexual relationships, self-pleasure, sexual positions, aging in sex, etc. Personally for me it was surprising to read that having sex in public is ok (as long as no one sees), like in the taxi, park or even kid's playground. Excuse me? I would much rather prefer this book to recommend against this. Another thing I disagreed with is that Sadomasochism is "healthy". No it is not, receiving and giving pleasure through pain is a psychological abnormality. Or role playing of pretending "mother and child", I am surprised such a suggestion was given. Except for these and few other points, the book is okay for general public. I personally sought something more on a psychological basis.

I bought this book hoping it would be a guide to amazing sex, as in it's title. However there is a good portion of the book devoted to "high school" like sex-education: diagrams of sexual parts, discussions on contraception, etc. There is very little about the act of sex in here, and what is here, is nothing new or interesting. This book would be very helpful for high school students and virgins, but not for an adult. I was very disappointed.

This book appears to be identical to the one that Prevention is bringing out on September 19, 2006. This 2004 edition is by Sari Harrar and Editors of Prevention, and the 2006 edition is by Ann Fannante (sp?) and the Editors of Prevention. The 2006 edition does not say 'revised' or 'updated' or anything like that. Furthermore, in the current edition of Prevention magazine, they have an article that mentions their "new" book with details from its program, but the article is by Sari Harrar!

Sometimes I have "issues" with Prevention - but in general think they are a positive force in health-themed publications.
The earlier book by Sari Harrar, et al., is a good resource for a good health regimen.
Essential Book! for anyone Addicted to Sugar!!.......2006-07-25
I found this book to be a lifesaver. I was so addicted to sugar, and had become hypoglycemic, to the point where I was having seizures, if I didn't eat candy or sugar, the moment I started shaking and sweating profusely. I was hungry all the time, gaining weight daily it seemed like, tired all the time, and unable to concentrate. After reading this book, and following the steps for getting off the sugar and replacing it with healthy foods, that didn't let my sugar go up and down. I had no more seizures, lost weight like crazy, I have tons of energy now, and I no longer Crave Sugar 24 hrs a day, nor am I hungry all day long. I feel like I have a life again. Not to mention my risk aren't as high for being coming diabetic, which is what my Doctor told me I surely would have before. Not that I don't have a chance of still becoming one, but before it was a SURE THING.
I definetly recommend this book to anyone who struggles with sugar addiction, like I did. You will feel REBORN!

I am 42 years old and was just diagnosed with ADD. After starting medication I was able to read - something I hadn't done in years. I voarciously poured through books on ADD.
As a woman with ADD Sari Solden's book was by far the best. Every page gave me an opportunity to see myself in a different light - making it possible to reframe my guilt and shame...
I had always believed myself to be different - now I know I am and can nuture the strengths of my differences and accomodate my challenges.
Thank you Sari - your book reminds me that my challenges will not disappear upon diagnosis or treatment - but that I need not allow them to define me.

Incredibly helpful, uncannily accurate and surprisingly thorough handbook of the profound effects of ADD in every aspect of the lives of affected women. Thoroughly explains how the primary cognitive dysfunction causes many secondary problems in relationships, self-esteem, achievement, and emotional reactivity. Goes on to offer practical and immediately useful information on many ways of dealing with the effects of the disorder to improve quality of life. Wish I'd read it a lot sooner! I didn't feel a strong connection to Sari Solden or her writing style. I felt much more in touch with the book "Delivered from Distraction". The first chapter (I think) of "Women with Attention Deficit Disorder" addresses the differences that young girls experience in school, as opposed to young boys. I felt that was the most helpful part of the book.
I read the book and gave it to a family member to read. I think it was a good book, but there were numerous gramatical errors, and I had a hard time becoming engrossed in the text. I felt that it didn't describe my ADHD experiences and personality as well as other books that I have read.

An interesting book to dip into and gives recommendations by difficulty and cost of recipies. Easy to read and containing many nuggets of great info, this is a good gift for a novice or a more experienced cook. The other great feature is that there are many recommenations for other references out there. Simple techniques are included and a nice assortment of terms used in all sorts of chef situations.

If you can forget the fact that this book is from the "for dummies" series, you are in for a real treat. During the first few chapters of this book, Trotter gives you detailed accounts of gourmet cooking methods, and soon you will understand what makes him one of the world's best chefs. I own books by Alice Walker, James Beard, Emeril, the Cul. Inst. of America, and none of them come close to exposing the breadth of knowledge Trotter presents. The exquisite recipes he gives in the later chapters give you detailed accounts of 'why' the recipes work, not only 'how.' I've been using the book as a guide now for about 8 months, (the pages are practically falling off), and people can't believe the meals I prepare. Most importantly, it actually teaches you how to cook by improvising if you want. Even if you are a good cook, you will feel humbled at how much you didn't actually know about the art. I assume, unfortunately, that the book's unattractive cover is the reason this has not become a staple in all kitchens.

This is perhaps one of the most accessible (and affordable) `celebrity' cookbooks on the market today. The depth of explanation is remarkable compared to Trotter's other books, many of which serve only to stoke the ego of a wealthy restaurateur. Gourmet Cooking for Dummies breaks down many of the barriers associated with fine cooking. By explaining techniques (many of which are very simple), Trotter's book allows readers to expose themselves to food and cooking to an extent previously limited to complicated picture books dedicated to food (as many of Trotter's other books are). A great learning tool for beginners, and (as the saying goes) "a reference for the rest of us." Highly recommended.

If anyone is interested in becoming a truly Gormet Cook, this is the book. For the very experienced cook, there isn't a lot new as far as tips and information, however, the recipes are sublime. Each one is better than the next and they are fairly easy to read and follow for excellent results. I was very impressed and would recommend it not only for the information but epecially for the exotic yet simple recipes.

This book is an essential reference for ERP analysts, developers and DBAs. It is unique in that it addresses data requirements for materials management within the context of manufacturing processes, with an emphasis on bills of materials.
The chapter on engineering change control stands out because this aspect of both data structures and process change management are not covered (or only lightly touched upon) in other ERP references. This chapter and its companion on implementing change add significant value to the book and reflect mature and best practices. I also liked the chapter on new product introduction and custom manufacturing because these aspects of the manufacturing process come with a different set of challenges and requirements from steady production processes.
Regardless of whether you're using SAP, Baan or another ERP package (or are developing custom applications to automate manufacturing materials management) this book will expose the relevant details of the data structures, which are the foundation of any application.

As an Officer of the Crown, Heath is assigned to investigate the lovely Lady Tess Golding. While he doesn't want to believe she is guilty, Heath will do whatever it takes to solve the case.
Tainted by scandal, Lady Tess Golding is not what she seems. Tess has secrets that must be kept to protect her country. Unfortunately, Heath Bartlett is a threat to her way of life. Heath tempts Tess with his passionate embraces and seductive kisses. If Tess isn't careful, she will give Heath more than the secrets she keeps, she will give him her heart.
I adore romances involving childhood friends. Although I never experienced this type of romance, it still appeals to my romantic soul. One of my favorite elements of When Seducing a Spy is the magnetism Heath and Tess share. Sari Robins made it clear these two are soul mates that must have each other to find true happiness. I adored the way Heath thought of Tess constantly and that Tess was unable to deny her passion for Heath.
Although When Seducing a Spy is part of a series, it can be read as a stand alone. I'm sure that after you finish When Seducing a Spy, you will, like me, rush out to purchase the first two in this series.

Tess had not seen Heath in years, not since her family had fired Heath's father as her tutor. Now she seems to run into him everywhere, and she wants to know what he's up to. Is he back for revenge over what her part in his father's dismissal so many years ago, or has he discovered her secret life as a spy for the foreign office? Tess is determined to find out, but she ferreting the truth of his return proves harder than it seems when she consistently loses her head to passion whenever he is near...
Heath can't believe that his childhood friend is really a thief, as her accusers state. Yet, as he investigates her in secret, he realizes she is definitely hiding something, and it certainly seems as if there is more to her than meets the eye. But his investigation is thrown off balance as he loses his heart and soul to the beautiful but scandalous Lady Tess Golding.
I have a penchant for historicals, and love those that star strong heroines who can stand independent of the story's hero. Sari Robins' heroine in When Seducing a Spy is just such a woman. Having been the center of several scandals, betrayed by her now deceased husband, and left to pull herself up by her bootstraps after finding herself penniless and cut off by her domineering father, she has finally found her backbone after a lifetime of doing what is expected of her, and cowing to the wishes of her father and husband. While we aren't a part of that growth process, we experience it in her memories, and find admiration for the woman that has grown out of such adversity.
Heath is as aggravating and clueless as they come, but these traits make for a great plot, of course! Truly, if readers did not find Heath aggravating, then the author would not have done her job. Robins ably engenders feelings in the reader that mirror those of Lady Tess as she deals with Heath. While definitely not a bad guy, his ambitions have him working against his better judgment, with the bait of a promising legal career and an advantageous marriage leading him astray.
But Heath soon redeems himself, as his feelings for Tess override his ambitions, and he finally does right by her, no matter the cost to his personal goals.
I'd certainly recommend When Seducing a Spy to anyone who loves historicals with a strong woman cast as the heroine and a few unsuspected twists in a suspenseful plot.

Pretty darned good! Different new twist- Lady Tess is the government secret agent and Heath's her old tutor's son, turned barrister. He's sent by another branch of the government to investigate her when her name is connected to a crime, not realizing what she's been up to in the intervening years.
Poorly structured and poorly executed.......2007-05-01
I think it's understood when one picks up a trashy romance novel that one does not expect prose of Austen's calibre. I've read a good number of Regency romance novels, and the majority of them betrayed the lack of a competent editor (or any editor, perhaps). This novel is no different, with its atrocious grammatical errors and lapses of anachronistic diction. However, I've read many novels that are very engrossing and entertaining despite lapses in writing style or historical authenticity. This novel, however, is so poorly written that it is barely enjoyable. Plot-wise, the premise is shaky, to say the least, and the development is barely credible. The only thing remarkable about the ending is the blatant deus ex machina. In reading this book, I get the sense that the author was trying to hint at secrets from the past of the two main characters, and slowly reveal them along the way. However, what she achieves is a series of confusingly vague references punctuated by intermittent and lengthy exposition, which makes the narrative take on a plodding - if not outright funereal - pace. That is, until we get to the 300-page mark, and the author seems to realize she needs to wrap things up if she's going to get to a resolution before her reader gets tired of the book.
As for the characterization, it is incomplete at best. Many of the characters' actions are insufficiently motivated. For example, the author quickly sets up an adversarial air between the hero and heroine, and hints that it is due to friction arising from some past event. Eventually, however, the reader will realize that no events took place in their past that should cause mutual emnity (I guess it's plausible for the lady to have felt uncomfortable in the hero's presence at first, considering what she believed at the time, but there was no reason at all for the hero to treat her initially as anything other than an estranged friend). Her two protagonists seem to have a penchant for willy-nilly blowing hot and cold, conveniently allowing her to create more tension and dragging out the inevitable dissolution of their obvious misunderstandings. The most egregious instance is probably one scene when the heroine is one the verge of explaining away a major point of friction, but instead chooses to fly off in a fury. I suppose one could argue that she felt she owed no explaination to one who had wounded her pride, but a heroine who is so blindly willful is hardly sympathetic.
It seems that the author had great ambitions for this novel. It had many elements that would have made this story into an imaginative and complex work. Sadly, the effort fell short, and what we have is a pulp novel bloated with contrived melodramatics, starved of believable character development, and barely held together by a half-baked plot.
Long story short? Don't read this book, it's not worth your time.
