Easy and fun.......2007-05-13
This book is great! Very cute to look at, easy to follow, and the colorful, fun pictures are wonderful. We have this for my son, but all of his friends (girls and boys, 6 years old) want to draw everything on every page and they can do it very well. Steps are simple to master for ages as young as 4, and the book helps build confidence because the kids can really draw what is shown. Variations are easy too. We love it. Great gift idea!
the Shipping Cost will Get Ya!.......2007-01-10
The item arrived on time and as pictured so I would order from this seller again. But on a side note: Even though the item itself is cheap the shipping will get ya!
terrific for small and older children.......2002-05-12
The wonderful , colorful illustrations inspire children in an easy step by step non-intimidating way. Even the 5th graders at the school I teach art at love this book and so do I.
Good for beginners.......2000-11-02
Even young budding artists can learn to draw with this simple and colorful book. Easy, step-by-step instruction and vivid crayon and marker illustrations are enticing to young children. This was a great tool for my 6-year-old daughter who loves to draw, as she could easily complete the drawings in the book. I highly recommend this one for beginners!

Great!.......2007-05-14
To the author, nothing is wrong! Nothing is a mistake! If you didn't complete a spiral, you can create something better and unique! Full of great ideas!!!
worthless junk.......2006-03-29
I bought this for my children hoping to share with them the magic I had with my spirograph as a child. I am very sad that it turned out to be a huge waste of time and money. It is so poorly designed that my children (ages 6 and 7) just can't use it. I was sure they just needed to get the hang of it so I spent about an hour one night doing it by myself and I got about 5 designs out of it before I gave up. To make it work you have to put a lot of pressure on the entire frame to keep it from moving and even then the disk kept slipping out from under it and messing up the design. Not to mention the fact that the constant pressure was hard for me to keep up so I don't know how a child is supposed to do it. I guess I will just have to find a real spirograph set from the 70's.
spiral notebook.......2006-01-31
I am making designs on cards with this. It is fun and different.
Very nice........2005-09-07
This is a fun little book that kept me entertained at work while waiting for phone calls. I must have used every piece of scrap paper in a five-desk radius! It could be tricky to use, sometimes, since the pressure must be just right and the angle you're drawing at correct. But that was onle 1% of the doodles, and usualyl I wasn't paying attention. Otherwise I posted them to my walls and left htem on other people's desks.
I wish normal Spirographs had different shapes like this one does. Of if this one came with different wheels and Spirograph-styled holes. Ah, well, it's an imperfect world, but it's a perfect toy!
Draw beautiful spirographs.......2003-05-07
What is a Spirograph?
A Spirograph is a curve formed by rolling a circle inside or outside of another circle. The pen is placed at any point on the rolling circle. If the radius of fixed circle is R, the radius of moving circle is r, and the offset of the pen point in the moving circle is O, then the equation of the resulting curve is defined by:
x = (R+r)*cos(t) - (r+O)*cos(((R+r)/r)*t)
y = (R+r)*sin(t) - (r+O)*sin(((R+r)/r)*t)
For examples of spirographs and how they are affected by R, r, and O check out the website: wordsmith.org/~anu/java/spirograph.html. Using the Java applet at the site, you can vary your spirographs by changing R, r, and O.
"The Spiral Draw Book" is accompanied by a fixed circle template called a 'frame,' and four moving circle templates called 'wheels' that have many offset points (holes within the wheel), so you can draw many different sizes of spirographs. The frame and the wheels are made of sturdy, translucent plastic in shades of blue, green, purple, and yellow. Three stubby gel pens are also included that supposedly change color as you draw.
The book itself is spiral-bound with heavy-duty glossy pages on which the artist is encourage to complete printed drawings with spirographs. For instance, there's a flower pot with stems and leaves that can be finished by drawing spirograph flowers.
Directions for use are clear and well-illustrated. The only tricky part (for me) was applying enough pressure to the frame so that it stayed in one place, but not so much pressure that the wheel stopped moving.
This book also contains intstructions for making stationery, jewelry, bead curtains, and soak art.

Coloring Books for All Ages.......2007-01-20
This coloring book, as well as other stained-glass coloring books from Dover, is suitable for all ages, including adults. In fact, the books would be wasted on young children. All of them are especially beautiful when colored with the deepest shades of markers, and particularly when viewed from the back.
Japanese Geishas were just what was wanted.......2007-01-18
This Geisha coloring book was a big hit with a highly educated young woman of 16 for Christmas. I called a week after, and she had four or five of the images hung in her window; she had very much enjoyed the gift.
Beautiful plates! Fun for adults young and old!.......1999-09-07
Don't let the suggested age for this book throw you - a person of any age would enjoy coloring these Japanese drawings. This delightful little coloring book has 16 beautiful transparent plates of geishas (reading, dancing, playing instruments, etc.) that can be colored with any medium and then placed over a lamp or window to give the illusion of stained glass. My only wish is that there were more pictures.

Customer Reviews:
Oh the memories!.......2004-11-29
When I got this book my friends and I had a fun time drawing in it on the bus rides. It was so funny some of the pictures we came up with! It also makes a good book to bring on air plane trips. It was a great icebreaker with the strangers sitting next to me on the plane! It was funny seeing some of the adults draw the funniest pictures ever! Thanx klutz for some more great memories!
This book is hilarious!.......2002-05-18
This is a VERY FUNNY book for teenagers to draw in. Actually I think many adults would love it too. Those Klutz people sure have a sense of humor. I laughed so much at some of the pictures I was crying! My 19 year old daughter is into drawing and she loves it too. Is very creative and gets young people to have fun while drawing. I recommend it highly for any teen. The only thing I didn't like was a picture of a witch, but that's easily dealt with, we just cover it up. I would not recommend this for children younger than 10,maybe not even younger than 12, because they would not fully appreciate the humor of the book, and the feel of the book, in my opinion, would not fit the appropriate spirit of childhood. Children need to be children, and I don't see this as a book for children, more for teens and adults.
My Kids LOVE it!!.......2001-05-26
This was one of my son's favorite birthday gifts (10 years old) and his younger sister(age 8)begged for her own copy. It is a ton of fun and gives kids a chance to be creative!!

Flashback.......2007-08-09
I remember having one of these books when I was a kid. And now, twenty years later, I have another one. I love it.
Fabulous for 9 year old.......2007-02-03
My son is 9 and absolutely loves this book. We've limited it to one activity a day so that he doesn't finish it too quickly (there are only about 35 or 40 in the book). I would recommend this book for any creative child - we will definately be buying more in this series.
" What should I draw?" .......2006-12-30
Many times kids want to make something but don't know where to start. These books get the creative juices flowing. I loved them when I was a kid and now both of my kids love them.
Fond memories from 2nd grade.......2004-05-04
After recess every day we would be given a page from the Anti Coloring book and allowed to draw to our hearts content for half an hour. It was one of my favorite times of the day.
Two thumbs up, most definitely!!.......2004-03-02
As a parent and former early childhood educator, I am pleased to write this review. In a day and age when entertainment does not require much thought process from our young ones (i.e. video games, pointless television shows, computer software, etc.), it is very refreshing to stumble upon the Anti-Coloring Book. Our children are exposed to endless amounts of effort-free fun stuff; and ultimately, young minds become lazy, trained, and forgetful of the power of imagination. How can you say no to a product that fosters developmentally appropriate learning, and promotes self awareness, self confidence, self expression, and independent thinking?? Help your child to break free from the lines and boundaries that hold them back. Kudos to the creators... it's time to get real about our children's needs!
