Product Description
Artists Trading Cards or ATCs are miniature works of art the craft world is totally JAZZED about! This new hot trend is all the rage for crafters of every sort -- mixed media, paper or fabric artists and stampers! These little canvases are like a "calling card" for artists. The main idea is to network with other artists by joining swaps and online Clubs and TRADE the ATCs--thus the name "Artists Trading Card". They are usually created following a theme the 'host' of the swap or trade decides upon and usually in a series of 4-6 cards at a time. This book has a special twist -- ATCs made with rubber stamps! The reason for this is to allow the possibly intimidated crafter to feel free to jump on board the ATC wagon and have fun -- as EVERYONE knows how to stamp!

art stamping workshop.......2007-09-02
This book is my new stamp carving bible! The projects are inspiring and there are no hard to find tools required. Thanks to the detailed instructions carving a stamp from an eraser is easier than carving a pumpkin. A great book.
Takes practice.......2007-01-03
It's a neat book. But I need to work at doing more stamps more often.
A Stamping & Carving "Must Have"!.......2006-11-27
If you need some inspiration, I strongly advise reading this book. Before reading the book, I didn't understand and was very intimdated about carving. After reading Art Stamping Workshop, I am now carving and printmaking!! I also teach this form of art in various schools and art stores.
One of the reasons I advise my students and online members to read this book, is because it is both teachable and progressive. It is an excellent book to study for classes, workshops, and personal study. With each technique, Gloria Page teaches in a way that you are bound to understand, and you are not left in the dark or in confusion in any way.
In an online group that I host -Artists of the Round Table- we read this book from cover to cover, and tried each of the projects. "ALL" of the member LOVED it.....adults, as well as the children!!! Gloria Page was kind enough to make herself available during the workshop to answer any questions, and to give advise and commendation. What an "encouragement" this was to the members studying her book!
Loving author.....AWESOME book. A perfect combination!
Sincerely,
~Jacqueline F. Graham

THE book for stamp carving!.......2006-06-27
If you are interested in learning how to carve your own art rubber stamps then you need this book as well as The Weekend Crafter:Rubber stamp carving.
Both books provide clear cut instructions on how to carve your own stamps to make artistic and fun stamps that are one of a kind. But this book is much better of the two and I'd suggest this one if you can only buy one book on the subject of stamp carving.
The projects in this book are lovely, artistic and not cutesy or cookie cutter similar to everything out there. You will easily be able to begin carving right away with this book alone. Well worth the 15 bucks here on Amazon! I recommend it.
5 stars!
Thank you, Gloria Page!.......2006-06-20
I have always wanted to make my own art stamps but never knew how or where to begin. Thanks to Art Stamping Workshop, all of my questions have been answered! After reading this fabulous book, I was able to create a stamp from items I had around the house. Gloria's instructions are easy to follow and the photos clearly show how each step is supposed to look as you go along. Gloria Page makes stamp carving easy and FUN! The variety of projects in this book are different from anything I have seen in other stamping books and are easily adaptable to any style.

Customer Reviews:
Write like an Egyptian.......2007-01-05
My son's teacher sent home a page of Egyptian Hieroglyphic symbols and what English alphabet letters they represented and asked that he write his name using Egyptian Hieroglyphic symbols. He loved it and had me do it. MAMA is a Owl,Vulture,Owl,Vulture and being a Westerner who loves both these birds I was hooked on the beauty of Hieroglyphics and bought this stamp set. It was a good deal, with a interesting little booklet that gives the background on Egyptian Symbols and what their English counterparts might be, plus an ink pad in the lid of the box that holds the stamps. It is designed to be used instantly and for years to come.
The Best Hieroglyphic Stamp Kit Available.......2006-02-25
This is the best hieroglyphic stamp kit I've ever purchased. I use the stamps with my art students from grades kindergarten through 5th as they study about Ancient Egypt. The stamps are easy to hold with little fingers and also stamps beautifully not only on papers, but also on clay. Thank you for a wonderful product.
Sincerely,
Rose Stock
Exceeded Expectation.......2002-08-04
Wonderful Product. This product was more than I expected. The contents will be very useful in the educational setting in which I plan to use them. The stamps were big, up to 1",much better than some other kits I have found. We will be able to use the stamps with children of varies ages because of the size. The book is helpful and informative. Wonderful product.
Book Description
These 20 rubber stamps are illustrated with Chinese characters representing universal and timeless qualities such as peace, beauty, honor, and wisdom. The stamps are accompanied by a companion booklet describing the spiritual symbolism and literal meaning of each character—an interactive cultural journey and kit all in one.
Customer Reviews:
ok.......2004-07-06
the stamps are mounted on wood, and they are aprox. 1 inch square. the definitions are not on the stamps but are on a piece of paper included in the kit. the quality of the stamps and the red ink stamp pad are only so-so.
Beautiful, meaningful stamps.......2000-04-02
I had been searching for Chinese character stamps like these for a while and I'm glad I found them! As a student just starting to learn Chinese, I can recognize the characters just by using them! :) That's an added bonus, I think. The stamps are wood mounted and do not have the English translation on them so it looks very authentic. The included book by Barbara Aria is very helpful in understanding the historical background/cultural context behind every character. The kit also comes with a red ink pad and a sheet of paper to lay in the back in case you want to keep your stamps in the order they came in (which I do). By the way, just to help anyone who is interested, the stamp kit includes: happiness, clarity, beauty, wisdom, destiny, moon, courage, flower, forgiveness, grace, friend, harmony, love, honor, peace, star, spirit, tranquility, sunrise and truth. I highly recommend this kit if you want to add beauty and meaning to your stationary or whatever you want to stamp and learn a little Chinese as well!
Questions/.......2000-03-03
I am very interested in this kit but have questions that I am sure others will have. Are the stamps mounted with wood? What size are the individual stamps. Are the definitions of the each stamp scripted on the stamp? Thank you for you answers. Tricia

This book has fun ideas shown in steps and in color! There are 40 projects with material lists and great texture effects that most anyone can accomplish. Very easy to follow the directions and some projects even have variations for additional ideas!
worth owning.......2007-02-19
This is not merely a picture book, nor is it a long-winded teaching book. The teaching is there, done via a series of projects which involve the reader in using the techniques. I love the clear way the content is provided. And I like it that Ms Curry gives her preferences, and reasons, for specific products. Altogether a great book.
This will replace all other stamping resource books!!.......2007-01-05
This is a must-have book for serious stamper's. Nancy's techniques are very detailed and creative. You'll be surprised how many supplies you have on hand and around the house when trying her techniques. I've read the book twice and I've tried all her techniques. Believe me you will not be able to put this book down. Definitely a stamper's bible!!
One of the Best!!.......2006-04-15
This is one of the best rubber stamping technique books I have come across. Unlike many other technique books, Nancy sticks primarily to dimensional and textural effects that can be created with stamps and ink on paper. There are a couple of projects devoted to stamping on other surfaces such as acetate or shrink plastic, but these are in the minority. For those of you who are interested in broadening your techniques for rubber stamp art you use to create cards, you will not be disappointed with this book. Nancy uses materials that are common to any stamper's stash--ink, stamps, watercolor crayons, glue gun, etc. You won't have to go searching for exotic, hard-to-find or expensive materials to complete the projects. I LOVE how the photos provide very clear step-by-step directions for each technique. I don't know if Nancy is the model for the photos, but I sure smiled when I saw how each stamp was heavily ink-stained and obviously well-loved and used!

This is an awesome book that gives detailed explanation for rubber stamping. I learned a few techniques I did not know or have.
Gets the creative juices flowing...........2006-08-27
I mainly bought this book due to the great reviews I read... not that I needed another beginning stamper's book, but, I wasn't disappointed. I'm not always pleased with the finished products created in the book, but they definitely gave me so many new ideas, ones that I know I will be pleased with! I especially like the cards created using an acetate sheet over a background paper and the shrink plastic.
Best book I own.......2006-07-28
I love this for the basics and then for the additional techniques you need to go a little further. Fun and simple instructions. Try it--you'll like it!
Keep it near your stamping table.......2006-03-09
After checking this book out from my local library, I decided I had to have my very own copy to refer to again and again. "The Rubber Stamper's Bible" is definitely like having your very own workshop right at your fingertips. Beginners and experienced stampers alike will find the book to be a resource for how-to advice and design tips. Beginners will love Reid's chart describing the various inkpads, which I keep on my desk, and the surfaces required for the best results, as well as the chapter called "Colour Workshop." More experienced crafters will find the technique-led projects inspiring and challenging. Read explains a project, such as masking, step-by-step. She starts with simple card, but also gives two or three more advanced examples at the end of each section.

advanced.......2007-07-04
I found that when I purchased this bood I was looking for simple rubber stamping techniques to make simple greeting cards. This book is way too advanced for a beginner like me so I was a litte frustrated. I wish that there was more information about books that you can buy so that you don't spend money on a book that is of little use to you.

The best artistic book for making cards with rubber stamps........2005-10-07

Not for the Advanced Stamper..........2003-02-16
This is an excellent book if you are looking for ideas on how to better make use of rubber stamps in an interesting and intriguing way with greeting cards. If you are VERY experienced at that, this book is not for you. That is not to say this is for beginners either. It is for someone who wants to do "cooler" things with cards and rubber and ink, but doesn't want to take all day to do it.

Customer Reviews:
I love it!.......2006-08-28
Shari's book is simply amazing! She uses so many different elements to create wonderful pieces of art! I love how she has put so much of herself into this book. It's like I know her!
Many of the items in her book, I have in my craft room. ANd I just love how she uses found objects in her project to create that collagy look to them. Makes me want to go out now to find items to use on my own projects! Although, I bet I can find the found objects in our garage right now!
Thank you for creating such a wonderful book!
A Treasure Trove.......2006-08-28
Shari Carroll's book is a unique approach to collaging her life experiences. Rather than putting them all on pages in a scrapbook, she has chosen many creative objects to present them. There are so many, but some of them are chipboard made into a chalkboard, old electrical outlets to make accordian picture frames, matchstick boxes to make a collapsing case(template included), wire screen to make a booklet, a darling door hanging made out of chipboard circles, and brown paper bags to make a booklet. Of course, all of these are collaged with bought and found items.
As a crafter, I have the majority of the materials needed: papers, glues, brads, eyelets, stickers, all the tools except the Japanese screw punch(but I do have an awl), buttons, etc. Most people should have access to the found objects needed, such as brown paper bags, matchstick boxes, old electrical outlets, wire, old books, washers, old door knobs, etc. I do not have a wine case, but I do have some old wooden cannisters which would work for that project. With some creativity, many of these projects could be adapted to meet the artist's needs. I would have to buy the chalkboard spray but seldom do I start any new project without having to buy something.
As far as collaging with meaning, everything in this book that is collaged has deep meaning for the author. I love how she shares this meaning with the reader. Furthermore, many of the objects made can also be given as gifts to family and friends to honor them for being a part of her life. Kudos to Shari Carroll for a book well done.
Awesome.......2006-08-26
I think this is a fantastic book for the beginning to above average crafter/artist. Of course if you are professional or very seasoned artist you probably already know the things in this book, so why would you be buying it? You'd be writing your own. For those of us budding artists that like or need inspiration and new ideas, this is the book to get!
Title is misleading.......2006-08-19
From the title of this book, I thought there would be some intersting collage work represented. The word layers to me brings to mind gluing papers and painting glazes which create layers. On the contrary, the title is misleading. The book is definitely for scrapbookers, a book I never would have bought if I had seen it first. Every project requires many expensive materials, no found objects at all like you'd expect in a book that has Collage with Meaning in the title.
Wonderful.......2006-08-17
This book is so amazing. You'll want to sit down and pour over every photograph and savor every little detail and LAYER of meaning. The author's love of life also shines through in the descriptions, making it a joy to read.
Best of all, the materials used to create the projects in the book are readily available.
