With the basic principle that creative expression is the natural direction of life, Julia Cameron and Mark Bryan lead you through a comprehensive twelve-week program to recover your creativity from a variety of blocks, including limiting beliefs, fear, self-sabotage, jealousy, guilt, addictions, and other inhibiting forces, replacing them with artistic confidence and productivity.
This book links creativity to spirituality by showing how to connect with the creative energies of the universe, and has, in the four years since its publication, spawned a remarkable number of support groups for artists dedicated to practicing the exercises it contains.

Updated and expanded, this anniversary edition reframes The Artist's Way for a new century.

The Artists Way.......2007-10-02
This book is so incredible. I am starting to see the creative possibilities again.
get out of your own way.......2007-09-27
When I worked at an art supply shop, we carried The Artist's Way as a standard item; oft I would skim through it, purchase the book, then wrap it up and hand it over with a blessing. I never thought that I was blocked creatively or had an issue with the producing of art. 5 or more years have passed, 8 or 9 gifts have been given and this year, for my birthday I bought it FOR MYSELF. How many times do we as creative people take for granted our creativity? ~or~ Are we blocked as people, and therefor our creations suffer as a result??
What Ms. Cameron has done is give us creative types {WE ALL ARE} permission to peel away the layers of ingrained LEARNED crud- at our own pace- to reveal the artist we all need to embrace- be she/he a painter, writer, sculptor, composer, chef- whatever. Set up in weekly chapter format, there are exercises to get one centered- back to self. You start by making a commitment to yourself to write daily, take care of your body mind and spirit, and relish in personal outings of "frivolity."
We all possess within us the strength and understanding of what works and does not. This wonderful book just pushes us along gently to reveal it.
Happy Reading,
Violet {Artist at Large}
It works!.......2007-08-19
I received THE ARTIST"S WAY when it was originally published (1994?). I was living in Japan and had the time and opportunity to work thru it. It was very interesting and informative in revealing myself...to myself! It wasn't until a year later when I returned to the U.S. that a light when off in my head and I realized that the impact the book had made on me was reflecting in my life. My career became easier. My relationships became more meaningful. There was a tremendous block that had been removed and I srongly believe that it was the result of working thru this book. It made me stronger. Over the years I have recommended it to others and I highly recommend this edition to you. (One small thing that it did was to enable me after fourteen years of procrastination to write to former president, Jimmy Carter. Well, he wrote me back!) Good luck with your journey!
not much content.......2007-08-15
This book may impress many people because of its psycho-lingo, its New Age palaver, and its abundance of second person pronouns. There is a 12-week program to follow, but that is probably for the author's desire to become a cult leader and the readers' desire to become cult followers.
But if you want to learn something you don't already know, you might be disappointed. The message of the book, in fifty words or less, is to resist any friends, relatives, or guilty feelings which tell you that creative pursuit is a waste of time.
That is nothing new. A Transactional Analyst might say the same thing, using the terms Parent and Child. A Freudian might say the same thing, using the terms superego and id.
Worth the Work.......2007-08-03
I have yet to make it through this book after a couple of years of trying, but it is well worth the effort to get your inner artist unblocked. Even unfinished it has helped me make great creative strides. Worth the investment. Worth the work.

A Comfotable and Helpful Companion.......2007-06-30
The Artist's Way Workbook is sort of a condensed version of the Artist's Way book. You can use the workbook without reading the book. I have read the book, love it, and would recommend reading it also. The Artist Way in all its forms is a solace for the creative side of everyone and is a fine tool for unblocking creativity.
Artist's Way Workbook Enhances Creativity.......2007-03-17
I really enjoy using this workbook along with Julia Cameron's Artist's Way book. Although I have gone through the Artist's Way before, this time around I thought it would be nice to add the workbook to my exercises.
I am particularly happy using it because I have been doing all the exercises on the computer and finding creative ways to add them to the workbook once I've printed them out. I plan to use the Artist's Way exercises over and over again and so this workbook will be a collection of my exercises over time and a great way to see how I have grown as I look back over it from time to time.
a method to unblock creativity.......2007-01-17
I started working with the suggestions, which are easy to follow. It is exciting to realize there are so many people which have had a lot of succes using it, and are sharing thoughts in special "Artist Way" meet ups. It's like a snowball.
The Artist's Way Workbook.......2007-01-04
You don't need this workbook to get the full experience of The Artist's Way, but it does provide a nice space for your exercises. It's good for an organized person who wants to get the whole Artist's Way package.
An Inspiring Tool You Shouldn't Be Without!.......2006-12-11
After reading and re-reading The Artist's Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity by Julia Cameron, I was completely inspired to reactivate my passion for writing fiction. For years, after trying to get a novel published, I wrote business related material, yet secretly yearned to return to what I loved most--writing fiction.
In the late 90's I studied the original book, and enjoyed the various tasks that helped to open and expand my creativity. And then in 2003, my life goal came true and I published my first novel. I owe this in part to the lessons and motivational teachings found within the pages of The Artist's Way.
And now, there is an actual workbook that makes everything that much easier to record. This workbook has everything you need to unleash your 'inner artist'--and that means any kind of creativity, whether painting, sculpting, drafting, writing, etc. Many of the activities are short and easy; some you'll find more challenging. But that is the point!
I highly recommend this book for anyone who may have lost their muse, or for anyone who wants to kick it into overdrive! Excellent tool and long overdue! :) KUDOS, Julia!

The Right to Write: An Invitation and Initiation into the Writing Life

The idea behind Julia Cameron's The Artist's Way is that by writing three pages, longhand and stream-of consciousness, first thing in the morning, you can overcome the obstacles that stop you from becoming your most creative self. This works partly because it forces you to create something (even if it is just a long list of gripes) every single day. It doesn't take much time. You're not even supposed to think. But the act itself gets you past all that self-defeating fretting about why you think you aren't a creative person. Cameron sees her morning pages as "a form of meditation," as "spiritual windshield wipers."
While Cameron touts the morning pages as a way of life, she suggests you start out doing them as part of a "twelve-week program to recover your creativity." If you would like to keep your first twelve weeks of morning pages together in one tidy place, The Artist's Way Morning Pages Journal is a fine tool for doing so. Each nearly blank page features an inspiring quotation from The Artist's Way: "Leap, and the net will appear," says one; "Creativity lies not in the done but in doing," reminds another. We should mention that many of these little inspirations include references to God, which may be troublesome even for spiritual atheists. --Jane Steinberg

The Artist's Way Morning Pages Journal.......2007-04-10
My twenty-third and twenty-fourth copies. The first twenty-two are full and lined up in my book case. A magnificent tool for starting the day.
Morning Pages Journal.......2007-02-22
The "How to" of Morning Pages, divided into 12 weekly sections and thoughtfully filled with exerpts from "The Artist's Way." The Artist is offered the perfect format for writing the Morning Pages at the beginning of their journey to recovery. Large pages, generously spaced lines and "right on" spiritual support for healing the artist child within.
Frustrating to write in!.......2007-01-27
I have nothing against the idea of this journal, it's just frustrating to work with. As another reviewer mentioned, spiral-bound would have been a lot nicer. It is extremely difficult to write in due to the thickness and the binding. I am also left handed which never helps when trying to write in books. Instead, I bought myself a notebook that I love. It's much more pleasant to write in the morning, now. I'd save your money for something else that you would like.
Recommend to Accompany Workbook.......2007-01-18
Didn't think it was necessary but it came bundled with the book and I figured I'd have it if I wanted it. So glad I got it. It seems simple: just keep a journal. It's not really that simple. The pages, because they have inspirational smatterings of the book printed throughout, help keep you focused on where you are in the 12 week process. It's very useful and I would recommend anyone using the workbook to start, also get the journal. Once you're done you can always continue the morning pages in a generic journal, but to get going, this is the way to go.
Write one a day and you will be living the right way.......2007-01-03
The morning page journal is an excercise in discipline. To say the least it will require habits to be changed. When I began writing the morning pages it wasn't so easy to pick up a pen and write. Despite there being no rules except the one that says write. Often times I would find myself making excuses as to why I didn't have time. Although I found that when I did make the time I began to experience changes. Not just in writing. I began to feel more energy and as though my life was becoming less cluttered. I only spend about half an hour writing my free thoughts and limit myself to one page. Although you can write as much as you want. Really whatever comes to your mind. Think of purchasing this journal as like buying a piece of excercise equipment. Except this time it's for your mind. I have found that this journal is a great first step in developing habits to last a lifetime. Although it is geared towards your creativity there is so much more that writing can do for you. If you start doing it on a daily basis you will begin to feel changes. It will become easier to write everyday and your thoughts will come together better. You should also feel more inspired to take on tasks and conquer your day. Learning how to inspire yourself is the best tool you can use to make yourself a better person. By far this journal is worth much more than the price to me. I am very happy I purchased the Morning Pages Journal and I am sure you will be to.

Adapting their techniques for fostering creativity as a means to spiritual fulfillment for the workplace, the authors of The Artist's Way at Work have shown that people can thrive at their jobs when they take time to nurture their spirit and listen to their thoughts. The book features psychological guidance, anecdotes, and exercises to assist the reader in sorting out the multitude of happenings, commitments, and choices in one's life. Again, these authors of the enormously successful The Artist's Way recommend their fundamental technique of "morning pages"--a kind of free-form journaling--to unravel thoughts and feelings, focus energy, and direct action. The beautiful surprise of this deceivingly simple exercise is that it actually works! It's making the time to do morning pages that's the real battle. But, if you, like so many others, feel swept up by the tidal wave of our fast-paced, noisy culture, then the authors' slow and steady steps toward reclaiming the spiritual self are invaluable. Some of the suggestions and exercises are a bit out of touch with the complex, and often emotionally-charged, political maneuverings of corporate culture, but the aim of cultivating an individual's ingenuity and resourcefulness is effective and expertly structured. Overall, the authors' philosophy boils down to change that begins with a constantly emerging self. With this book's help, you'll not only find how that new self spawns clarity and grace, but how widely their effects can reverberate throughout the workplace. --Karen Karleski

These books were ordered to be used in a weekly group discussion. The response was well received.
Fair Warning, Preview the Book.......2006-03-30
Reading the book for a masters level creativity class so I started out a skeptic. While much of the reading in the class has turned out to be very interesting, this book just hasn't struck any chords for me.
Some of the poeple in the class seem to appreciate it so it gets an extra star... but I'd suggest reading some of it before picking it up. If it works for ya, go for it. Otherwise, be cautious.
working artist.......2005-07-25
This is the second Julia Cameron book I have read. It is very much like Artist's Way except it is for the artist in the work place. All of Cameron's books talk about the artist within but it is for those who are looking for self. Self is what you are going to find. It is getting rid of what is unimportant and focusing in on the important making a complete and happier person. I am not quite done with this book but have devoured it and shared it as I did with her first book.
Artists can be thriving (not starving) artists.......2005-03-21
After completing the self-study program with Julia Cameron's Artist's Way ... this work-oriented book helps artistic and creative souls find a way to breath life and express their creative fire on the job. Cameron's analogy of the dragon is a dep metaphor to the fears that stop us from being our true selves. Instead of bottling up all the intense energy ... Riding The Dragon ... draws out our intensity with constructive excercies, wisdom, and a proper channel to achieve positive results. Cameron is one of the best informal writing guides for all of us with a voice were excavating.

Customer Reviews:
The worst craft book ever.......2007-05-14
This book is heavy on the art history references, and light on actual creative ideas. I guess the idea was to link the projects with well-known artists' styles, but it's overly wordy and these links are loose and uninteresting. The projects were totally lame and, without photos or drawings on most of them, hard to imagine or get interested in. The graphic design is even more banal, in fake typewriter font and two-color printing that's not even utilized well. A better version would have cut the copy by half (or more) and put in photos of the projects (or, come on throw us a bone--even a drawing of each one!) though some were so stupid even that wouldn't save them. Save your money.
some of it is a waste of paper........2006-08-24
This book is not bad. It has alot of references to many artists over the past few centuries and it was interesting to learn about some of the newer ones. This book also contains alot of clever ideas for inexpensive projects. My only complaints are: there aren't any colour photos, or real pictures of what any of the projects will look like - only drawings. And the way the author writes is extremely informal and the book is just one big joke. Also, the way the author relates certain artists to projects seems forced. It seems like she just looks for ANYTHING that could be sort of related or not at all to try to mention an artist at certain points in the book. It's sort of a waste of writing when she does this.
Overall, it's an okay book. It has some good projects and some interesting facts about some artists, which you don't usually find in a DIY book.
Fun ideas for crafty days........2006-06-15
I think the ideas are great, but I feel like I will go through twice the materials they suggest using because I will mess up the first time due to lack of instruction. This book would be better with photos or at least a sketch of what the project might look like.
What A Fun Book.......2006-04-20
I REALLY enjoyed this book. In fact, I initially checked it out of the library but liked it so much I bought it. What is surprising is that there are not a lot of pictures OR photos and I STILL liked this book. There are several diagrams so at least you get an idea of what how something is supposed to look. There was another book that had a similar feel, but this book is soooo much better. This is the book that , "Get Crafty: Hip Home Ec (see my review)"was trying to be. I like that the chapters are logical with an interesting layout that is easy to follow.
The chapters include Food (my favorite subject), Home Decorating, Wearables, Potions (soaps, bath, cosmetics) and Special Events and Gifts. I think there is probably something in this book that would address anybody's taste. I'm planning on making the Avocado-Mushroom Risotto tonight.
In addition to the great layout of the book, each project has an interesting tidbit about an artist, writer, painter or art concept and was quite educational and most interesting. Some of the projects include:
* Clocks from old things
* Diorama door table
* Bread-n-jam mini layer cakes
* Coin Necklace
* Oatmeal and Almond scrub
* Fortune Cookies
* New Year's Trash Hat
* Hanging Murphy Shelf
I give this book a 4.5 star, because it lacks photos and could use more illustrations. If they revise this book, I would recommend taking out some of the tidbits and putting in more pictures to make this a full 5 star book. Even though this book is for the "starving artist", it could easily be used by the starving student, starving college graduate, starving actress OR for someone like me who likes to stoke their creative side and have some fun.
great SOUNDING projects, but..........2006-04-14
This book coulda' tossed in a few pictures of completed projects. This book didn't have a single photo to inspire or guide. Sometimes you just need to see it done to know it's possible!
But - that aside, I like the ideas inside. Gonna pick one out & start soon...

Forty-one of the best articles of the popular Ancient Ways column in Martial Arts Training magazine are brought together. 150 illustrations, 40 never before published photos. Customer Reviews:
A Personal Favorite.......2007-02-24
This is among the very finest books on the martial ways that I have read - and, as someone who periodically engages in too much reading and not enough training, I've read a lot of them. I was led to this particular book through reading the author's daily webcolumn.
Some martial arts books have a lot of rambling or clicheed "filler" in them. On the contrary, these essays are generally very clear and focused, and betray the author's wealth of knowledge and experience. For example, it is very fashionable to speak about zen in martial arts texts, and throw around terms like "mushin". But unlike most of those texts, this book is actually written by someone who is expert in both zen and budo. As a result, the comparisons he makes are far more lucid, interesting, and (in my experience) applicable.
I encourage you to read this book. You will not regret it.
Grateful!.......2007-02-15
A few well timed books can change your life. Kodo was just such a book for me. I discovered it about six years ago at a time when my training could have gone many different ways. The lessons related by Furuya Sensei in Kodo helped me to reflect on the meaning of my training and find my true martial spirit. I will always be grateful for Kodo and for Furuya Sensei's continued teaching.
Excellent reflections and lessons.......2007-02-14
Though KODO can be found in the "Martial Arts" section of bookstores, what most immediately struck me about the book is the universal nature of the teachings within. Reading more like a compilation of reflections from a life devoted to martial and spiritual study, KODO is unique and a challenge to categorize.
My background from childhood was a little Karate and Gung-Fu, but when I was seventeen I saw an Aikido demonstration and felt a strong gravitation toward such training, which lead to KODO. Though the author, Rev. Kensho Furuya, teaches Aikido and Iaido, I think his writings are very applicable regardless of the martial study you pursue.
At just over 220 pages, KODO is a moderately sized book - but packed with so many anecdotes, images, and stories that it seems like there's always a little more to find. I particularly like many of the side-notes present throughout the book, "Unrealized potential is like no potential at all". As a chronic procrastinator, simple statements like that have made a real impact on my outlook.
KODO is in part a memoir and in part a lesson or guide book for those trying to find their way to a simpler path in an increasingly busy and complex world. Readers, who, like me, have felt an inner pull toward a more disciplined and thoughtful life, will not be disappointed by KODO and the stories within.
Kodo Ancient Ways - Timeless Wisdom.......2007-02-14
From K. Choate and B. Tysell
Written with obvious care and devotion by a decades-long practitioner and master of Aikido and Iaido, this book contains a split page format which allows the reader to reference succinct definitions relative to all aspects of Budo, while allowing the opportunity to gain greater depth of knowledge through its' more conversational essays relating to the same topics. From the deeply spiritual roots of martial arts practice, to the basis of martial arts training, to an historian's eye to technique and weaponry, this book remains a staple reference for the library of any serious martial artist. It becomes dog-eared and well loved quickly!
Kodo-a book which every Budoka should read.......2007-02-13
Mr Kensho Furuya Sensei is one off the Budospecialist, who know most of history and philosophy of Budo.
He speaks in this book very understandable and I learn a lot, every time I read in his book.
Book Description
In the perennial best-seller Art & Fear, Ted Orland (with David Bayles) examined the obstacles that artists encounter each time they enter their studio and stand before a new blank canvas. Now, in The View From The Studio Door, Orland turns his attention to broader issues that stand to either side of that artistic moment of truth.
In a text marked by grace, brevity and humor, Orland argues that when it comes to art making, theory and practice are always intertwined. There are timeless philosophical questions (How do we make sense of the world?) that address the very nature of art making, as well as gritty real-world questions (Is there art after graduation?) that artists encounter the moment they're off the starting blocks and producing work on a regular basis.
Simply put, this is a book of practical philosophy. As a teacher and working artist himself, Orland brings authentic insight and encouragement to all those who face the challenge of making art in an uncertain world. The breadth of material covered is reflected in chapters that include Making Sense of the World, Art & Society, The Education of the Artist, Surviving Graduation, Making Art That Matters, The Artistic Community, and more.
The View From The Studio Door is the perfect companion piece to Art & Fear, and will appeal to a similar (and already-established) audience of students, working artists, teachers and professionals. For students' benefit, The View is also modestly priced, with wide page margins for easy note-taking and annotation.
Customer Reviews:
Pretty good read, but nothing earth shattering.......2006-05-31
This book is a pretty good read in that it outlines some of the issues surrounding being an artist in today's society. It is more cursory than comprehensive. Basically it points out the issues but doesn't really delve into them very deeply. If you are already an artist it won't give you that much more insight than you probably already have, however it will serve to point you in thinking in the right direction.
For the price I guess it's worth reading. I cannot recommend it as a 'must buy' but I also cannot say stay away from it.
A must read for any artist or wannabe artist.......2006-04-26
This is a must read for any artist or aspiring artist. It will help you to understand yourself, your art, and your audience. The View From The Studio Door is part philosophy, part psychology, part history, and entirely authentic, entertaining and enlightening. The author is very articulate in a down-to-earth and entertaining way. Original insights are spread throughout the book and it's margins. On one page you will be in awe of the philosophical insights that are revealed and on the next page you will enjoy the author's delightful sense of humor. On the next page you may learn something about yourself and your art. Here is an excerpt from one of my favorite passages. " In 1927 a young Ansel Adams made one of his most famous photographs: Monolith-The Face of Half Dome. Or more accurately, he made a photograph that several of his friends thought was very nice....It appeared as a gritty halftone in a newsletter of the local chapter of the Sierra Club....Finally, a half-century after it's first appearance, Monolith appeared in a Time magazine cover story about Adams accompanied by the headline "Ansel Adams: GOD'S FIRST ART DIRECTOR.""
The author, Ted Orland, is co-author of the book Art and Fear that is also a wonderful read for artists in all disciplines.
Art and Fear is one of the top 4,209 best selling books on Amazon.com. Although we do not usually consider ranking #4,209 an badge of sucess, this is a remarkable accomplishment for a book that has artists as it's primary audience. The View From The Studio Door is a very worthy next read for any artist.

Daily doses to nourish and replenish your inner artist.......2005-03-27
Meditations are wonderful pathways to bypass the doubts that lie in our cyncial intellectual minds. Serious students of The Artist's Way who desire a deeper practice to harness their creative fuel will love this. Cameron brings jewels to call forth the inner voice into the outer world. Her works are a sacred and rare tool for artistic practices and courageous creative lives. One of the real pearls from Cameron's work is the focus on the value of art, apart from the commerical market forces that has Pamela Anderson and Paris Hilton on The New York Times bestselling list.
Fabulous.......2001-08-23
Having the brilliant, healing work of Julia Cameron boiled down and packaged into a portable book is divine. You can carry her words of wisdom with you everywhere and read on any topic for instant reflection and inspiration. What an excellent idea for those walking "The Artist's Way" path. These meditations are necessary for the journey of all artists.

Book Description
Award-winning creativity coach and therapist, Eric Maisel, offers the A Little Every Day Deck series to help readers develop a more centered, creative, intelligent life. Each card in the series presents a single idea and a simple exercise to try every day. Readers can use the decks in a variety of ways. They can:
Read through the 30 cards in the deck, pick one that resonates, and try the simple exercise the card suggests.
Use the cards as a 30-day program, practicing one message and exercise a day.
Shuffle the cards, cut the deck, and let a random message speak.
Find a favorite message and exercise, repeat it until the message is taken to heart, then go on to another card in the deck.
Each deck is designed to work with the others to help readers grow in profound, even unexpected ways.
Everyday Creative provides 30 ways to awaken the artist within. Each card helps build a more creative life: undertake new creative projects, live life more authentically, and manifest a true artistic nature. Cards invite readers to acquire new confidence, allow for fortunate accidents, embrace mystery, reduce anxiety, and more.
Mystery is the artist's territory. We know. And we don't know. Grow creative by embracing mystery. Intending is more powerful than wishing. Intend to create. Hold the intention in your heart and in your belly. Grow creative through powerful intention. No desire, no creativity. Burn to create. Fall deeply in love with life. Grow creative through passionate desire.

Everyday Creative: 30 Ways to Wake Up Your Inner Artist .......2007-03-18
I really liked the cards. I teach a class in creativity and I was able to give them to individual students to encourage their creative growth.
another powerful set of creativity tools.......2007-02-08
This is a deck of creativity cards--wonderful starters to enhance personal creativity. In a class setting they have proved a powerful closing exercise for each student to pick a card (face down of course) and use as his or her assignment until the next meeting. I would be When it comes to coaching creativity, Eric Maisel is clear, concise, and kick starts us in a gentle way.
Nice way to start the day.......2006-04-20
Whenever I sit down to work (I am a visual artist) with my coffee in the morning, I pull out one of the cards and read it. Then as the coffee smell fills the air, and the warm liquid fills my body - ahhh...I think about what the card is saying to me, and I get to work! A very nice way to start the day! Each little card makes me smile. (They are good for helping you to get out of a temporary rut, too.) One of life's simple pleasures. Try them, you will like them!
Superb Tool for Expanding, Exploring, Opening Channels!.......2004-08-28
Some time ago, I purchased a set of 48 playing-card-sized cards painted by Susan Seddon Boulet. I've kept them by my computer and occasionally dip into the deck, pull one out, and see if the colorful painting in some way inspires me in my writing. Now, with his new "A Little Every Day Decks," creativity coach, writer, and psychologist Eric Maisel has given me an exciting new deck and a simple, easy-to-use program to spur creativity and inspiration. Each card contains a truth about creativity: "Grow creative by astonishing yourself" or "Grow creative by opening to serendipity," for instance. The point of focus on each card is book-ended by ideas about the truth and then an exercise that can be done to enhance or change one's experience and accessing of creativity.
In an introductory section, Maisel tells us, "You can read through the thirty cards in your deck, pick out the one that feels particularly resonant, and try the simple exercise the card suggests. You can use the cards as a thirty-day program, taking in one message a day....You can shuffle the cards, cut the deck and let a random (is it really random?) message speak directly to you." All of these are good ideas, and once you've gone through the deck, I have a hunch it will pay off to go through it again. And again.
I've been examining and pondering the meanings of the cards for a couple weeks now and have settled upon using one each day at random before I begin my writing. In just a little over two weeks, I find that each morning I am anticipating reading the next card. Often the idea contained within stays with me all day, firing me on to carry out my appointed tasks. The cards are not just for writers or artists but for anyone seeking to expand, explore, or open up channels of creativity. Highly recommended. ~Lori L. Lake, author of lesbian fiction and freelance reviewer for Midwest Book Review, Golden Crown Literary Society's "The Crown," The Independent Gay Writer, and Just About Write.com.

Customer Reviews:
A new start.......2007-08-23
I have long suppressed the "artist" in me and Janice shares how to rediscover those gifts and use them to God's glory. Our church is starting a new visual arts ministry and I will be using this book as an introductory bible study for all new participants in this ministry. Thank you for a book that revives the artist in all of us and validates art as a true expression of worship.
What a blessing!.......2007-01-17
This book was a tremendous blessing as I thought, prayed, and wrote about what I read. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking to make their art an expression of worship to their Creator.
Wow!!.......2006-06-10
I'm only half-way into this book, but it's life changing. This book is aimed to help you integrate your art into your Christian life and walk with God (be it writing, cooking, visual arts or performance). She walks you step by step to exercises to help unlock your talent and help you hear from God, including scripture memory and journaling.
This book is aimed at someone who just wants to look deeper at their gift, or someone who has squashed their creative gift, or even someone who is trying to uncover exactly what it is.
Excellent!
Explore Creativity and Your Faith.......2006-04-11
It was truly refreshing to find a book on creativity that was also deeply rooted in the Christian faith. The book helped me to explore not only my creative side, but also how that ties into my faith life. I underlined several passages, as so much of what was written resonated with what was going on in my life.
This is a great novel for jump-starting your creativity. I thoroughly enjoyed working through the exercises.
Goes Deeper than Artist's Way into Faith.......2006-02-25
This is an excellent book. I've done Julia Cameron's, The Artist's Way" and loved it but Creative Call goes a step further.
Using Biblical references, prayer and journaling, Creative Call takes you through an eight week journey of creative discovery.
God gave you your creative gifts for a reason and he intends for you to use them to his glory. Creative Call contains excercises that help you explore how to make time for your art, forgiveness of those who have discouraged you (it may be you) and encourages taking steps to get started. If you feel God has given you a creative gift and you're ready to find out what to do with it, this is the book for you.
