Book Description
Ever since a cosmic phone call brought the four literal young goddesses Belldandy, Urd, Skuld - and, like an occasional vowel, Peorth - to live in college student Keiichi's residence, his personal life has been turned upside down, sideways, and sometimes even into strange dimensions! The appearance of the Fifth Goddess has heralded a darker turn in the story - as we are reminded that behind the adorable form of chibi-Hild lies a fearsome demonic intent. Her surprise attack on the Goddesses begins by unleashing the beast Tenshikui, the Eater of Angels, which strips the angelic companions from Urd and Peorth's bodies! The stricken pair cannot survive long in this state... and Belldandy is the next target. But the Fifth Goddess is of a different order than her comrades - not a Norn, but a grim Valkyrie, she stands holding a long axe to defend the fallen!

Customer Reviews:
Yet another lovable volume of Oh My Goddess!.......2007-01-23
And so, the adventures of average-Keiichi and his goddess-girlfriend Belldandy continue.
Keiichi and his father Keima are still racing. I don't want to ruin it for anyone who hasn't read it yet by telling you the outcome of the race. ^_~
Afterwards, certain circumstances make things very close to the discovering of Belldandy's true identity to Keiichi's family. Although, it seems that Keiichi's mom and dad may have already figured it out, but who knows for sure..?
Anyways, Keiichi wins a trip to a bath house for two and intends to go alone with Belldandy, but Chihiro decides that she wants to come along too, and even pays for herself! They get lost along to way however...
And later, a FIFTH goddess is introduced! The first-class goddess Lind, an elite member of the fighting brigade. She comes down from heaving reporting that an object called the "Angel Eater" has been stolen!

Book Description
What`s faster than a speeding bullet and leaps tall buildings in a single bound? In Japan, it`s ninja, of course! And now the demon Mara, in her ceaseless campaign against the earthbound goddesses Urd, Skuld, and Belldandy, has summoned up Ninja Master Kodama, mistress of confusion, to sow ill will among the sisters. It`s easy enough to set the troublesome Urd and Skuld at each other`s throats, but can she use her more charming powers to split up Belldandy and her very much non-godlike boyfriend Keiichi? Oh My Goddess! is one of Japan`s most entertaining exports, topflight manga full of feverish fun, fanciful frolic, and flat-out firepower!
Customer Reviews:
more OMG fun.......2004-08-16
In this volume, Urd tries to encourage Keiichi to do something that's supposed to make Belldandy bound by love to him forever, Skuld might be falling for Keiichi, and a demon named Mara has sent a tiny ninja after Keiichi, Belldandy, and the rest. This volume is as beautifully drawn and sweet as the rest of the series. It's not one of my favorite volumes, but it's still quite good. However, as a pet rat lover, I though the one panel showing two rats politely sharing a cockroach to be amusing.
And in this corner...........2003-03-20
Ah, the ninjas have arrived. Those incredibly efficient, super fast, completely undetectable--oops, wrong ninjas. Kodama and her friends are out to get the goddesses, and their plans are not working. Well, some are; Urd and Skuld are at each others' throats (but what else is new?), but the plans to get Keiichi and Belldandy against each other are failing miserably. Instead, the lovebugs spout romantic nonsense at each other and Kodama makes a decision. As for the other ninjas--by the end of the story they have made a decision as well.
And we learn that Keiichi can't swim when he and the girls and Banpei go to the beach and Skuld gets jealous.
very cute ninjas.......2002-07-16
Having only seen the Oh My Goddess movie & not being overly thrilled with it (enjoyable, pretty, but nothing really incredibly outstanding. Decent anime, but not a fav like Excel), I was very pleased with this manga, although it was a bit thin(page-count, not story.) The beach story was ok filler, but the ninja plot picked up the pace, was very funny & the little former-rat ninjas were adorable. Well worth the purchase. Ok for 10+, maybe very mature younger although I'm more liberal than many moms I know. My 11 1/2 yr-old daughter enjoyed it. I'm perhaps influenced by having picked up X-(Graphic Novel)#5 & Inu-Yashi #1(or whatever it is--veeeery funny) at the same time & Sorcerer Hunters #10 the week before. I think I prefer 3X3 Eyes to this Goddess series, although 3X3 is more action-oriented.
More fun.......2002-03-03
Not really too much to say here. This is another entertaining volume of Oh My Goddess, or if you prefer Aa Megami-sama! In this volume Keiichi goes to the beach with the three goddesses. Urd tells him that if he and the one he loves sit upon the rock and say that they love each other that the couple will be together forever, of course Keiichi wants to sit on the rock with Belldandy, problem is Keiichi can't swim, and Belldandy's little sister Skuld is bent on not letting Keiichi and Belldandy get together. Fun stuff. I guess the main attraction of this volume is the introduction of the Three Ninjas, not those three ninjas, Kodama, Hikari, and Senrigan. Of course the Ninjas are sent by Mara, whose full knowledge of ninjas is based on bad movies. Kodama is the first Ninja sent, and she is quite successful in disturbing Urd and Skuld, not that that takes much anyway. Good book.
An innocent, funny romance, plus ninjas and demons.......2000-12-20
This is the seventh collected edition of Oh My Goddess published in the US. Oh My Goddess is a sweet, innocent romance-comedy between a mortal named Keiichi and a goddess named Belldandy. Unfortunately for them, they are plagued by Belldandy's sisters Urd and Skuld, and by a demon named Mara. This book has two major stories. The first focuses on Skuld, Belldandy's younger sister, and her objection to Keiichi and Belldandy being in love. The second, from which the book takes its name, involves Mara sending out ninjas to break up the peaceful life of Keiichi and the goddesses. The first story is probably the better of the two, but they both live up to the standards of quality set by previous books. The artwork is gorgeous: Kosuke Fujishima's art generally features simple but attractive character designs with amazingly elaborate clothing. The difference between the early books and these later books is amazing; his style has grown quite a bit, and the polish and beauty of his art has really developed. Finally, the English translation is handled with skill here, and the humor really comes through. If you haven't read the earlier books, I'd recommend you start there, but the stories are largely episodic (there appears to be no overarching plot). Once you have a handle on the relationships between the characters, you will be able to enjoy this book, too.

Book Description
Ever since a cosmic phone call brought Belldandy, Urd and Skuld - a trio of literal young goddesses - to live in college student Keiichi's residence, his personal life has been turned upside-down, sideways, and sometimes even into strange dimensions! No sooner has Urd's mother left, then Keiichi and Megumi's father shows up! But whatever you do, don't call him that. It's just "Keima-san." Try to show him respect by saying "Father," and he'll smack you upside the head. You see, he simply wants to be treated as an individual. Also, if you're a woman, don't approach any closer than one meter to Keima-san - because he'll run away. Only his wife is ever permitted that close. Well then, what in the world must Mrs. Morisato be like? Don't call "Mother" that either - because you're about to meet her too!
Customer Reviews:
Oh My Goddess Fan.......2007-06-14
A nice graphic novel [plot] with very good graphics. In this installment of the goddess household, we meet Keiichi's parents. Now I know where Keiichi gets his female handling techniques from. Though the charater development of the parents is a little shallow, it is still a nice story. Of course, the hijinks of the whole group is in full swing! Enjoy the graphic novel.Ah! My Goddess Vol. 23 (Aa Megamisama) (in Japanese)
Book Description
It looks like earthbound goddess Belldandy's powers are on the fritz - she can't even make a penny levitate! And to make matters worse, members of earthling boyfriend Keiichi's motorcycle club come for a visit... with a bunch of junk for Keiichi to store, and now the crew is a bit short on space. But not to fear, it's sister goddess Skuld to the rescue, creating a computer that will alter space! With the click of a makeshift video game controller, a room becomes larger. Does it matter that the device, if used incorrectly, creates a room infinitely larger? It does if Keiichi and a powerless Belldandy get lost in that room and have no idea how to find their way out! Created by Kosuke Fujishima, Oh My Goddess! is manga at it's most madcap - silly sexy, and supercharged! Translation by Dana Lewis and Toren Smith (Blade of the Immortal, What's Michael?)
Customer Reviews:
The Oh My Goddess series is incredible!.......2004-03-05
This is another in a long list of must-read manga.
In this volume, Banpei (the robot "boy" Skuld built to guard the house) tries to spend time with his girlfriend (a girl robot the gang rescued from the junk heap and Chihiro in an earlier book). But, when this avenue fails he turns to his creator for help. Skuld happily obliges, but includes some of her own ideas, such as making the girl robot talk and walk, and giving the robot her own personality. But the girl decides she doesn't like Banpei and he finds himself in the position of having to win her over...
In the second part of the book, the residents at the temple must deal with the need for more space, and with the misuse of one of Skuld's inventions, infinite space moves between their own walls! An extraordinary creature moves in...
This is an excellent addition to a fantastic series, and I highly recommend it!
Another must-read from Kosuke Fujishima........2004-01-13
Kosuke Fujishima's "Oh, My Goddess!" series has ranked among the very best graphic novel series in the world for at least the past decade. His story-telling techniques have continued to evolve, and while I have some personal nitpicks with where his art style is heading, they are just nitpicks. The latest volume in the series shows that this series will be going strong for years to come. The art is gorgeous, the stories are funny and touching, and the characters are as charming as ever.
In "Traveler," the threats faced by mechanic and college student Keiichi and the three goddesses (Belldandy, Skuld, and Urd) that have taken up residence with him in an abandoned temple are not of the reality-shattering variety--they prevented all of time from being unraveled in the previous volume, "Mystery Child"--but instead are on a smaller, more personal scale.
The first half of the book introduces a new continuing cast member--a sentient robot built by Skuld as a companion to Banpei, Skuld's first self-aware robotic creation. Unfortunately, the new robot hates Banpei with a passion.
The second half of the book opens with Belldandy losing her divine powers at a very inopportune moment. The timing becomes even worse when she and Keiichi become stranded at the center of an infinite space generated by another of Skuld's inventions. To make matters worse something is in the space with them....
This second half of "Traveler" is Fujishima's finest effort so far. Keiichi is firmly at center stage, shining like he never has before even while dealing with yet another weird creature that's ended up in his life due to the presence of the goddesses. The flow of the story is perfectly paced and the ending is very satisfying. I'm looking forward to the next volume to see if Fujishima can top himself.
Book 17 -- New Droid, Giant Space.......2003-12-20
This installment of "Oh My Goddess" from Dark Horse covers the original "Aa Megami-sama" volume 17 chapter 102 through volume 18 chapter 109. We have only two stories in this book.
The first story has Banpei requesting Skuld turn the automoton girl into a real girl. Skuld makes the automoton into a fully functional android. Sadly, the new android has no interest in Banpei and fights him to keep him at bay but worships Skuld.
In the second story, Belldandy loses her power when she fails to renew her license. Meanwhile Otaki, Tamiya, and the boys dump all of their stuff on Keiichi for storage while their dorm is being worked on. Skuld comes up with a device to expand the space of the Tea Room which allows them to store the stuff easily. It accidently expands space to infinity and this space is visited by the giant creature known as Schrödinger's Whale. Before this visit, these creatures were thought to be extinct.
Fujishima-sensei continues with the same excellent artwork and a couple of pretty interesting tales. His character designs are starting to slip when the characters are shown face-front. They are starting to look a bit odd. From the side, the characters look fine. That's the only complaint on the Japanese side of this.
On the American side, Dark Horse & Proteus do the standard flip for most the art and no-flip for other panels. They continue their above-average level of domestication of the stories from the original Japanese, neither of which is surprising. However, what had me dissappointed is one change from the Japanese. In the original, Keiichi listens to The Carpenters song "Sing" and other Carpenters songs. Instead, we are given "Missing Time" by Matthew Sweet. Who's that? I checked and he's done several CD's but was unknown to me. Unfortunately, the Carpenter's management wanted WAY to much money to reprint the lyrics which is why the change was made. It is disappointing, but I now understand why Toren Smith had to make that change, and since he got Fujishima-san's permission, that's all that matters. Many people like the new lyrics better.
Bottom line: More OMG fun and worth adding to your collection.

Extras review: Translator Notes and Letters Column.......2007-04-02
OMG has *the* most impressive translator notes (the book calls it the Editors's Commentary) I've read in a manga. Where other manga will have bare minimum single page of notes, OMG has detailed comments about not just the translations, but the inside-jokes and references by the original author (some of which the editor admits to not understanding!). Additionally, the notes digress a bit into the editor's otaku impressions, often during a trip to Japan. The manga preserves the letters column from the OMG comic books days, providing more interesting background and insight of the series, the author, and Japanese culture. This is one of the best extras I've had the pleasure to read in a manga!

Essential reading for AMG fans........2006-01-17
I have been watching anime on-and-off since 1992 and it has only been this past year that I have been able to watch all of the animated versions of the Ah!/Oh! My Goddess! franchise. Now I've become a fan that needs to know more but the anime can only tell you so much. That's when I decided to go straight to the source and pick up this manga, which I've never done before as don't normally read manga!
This is Volume 1 of Dark Horse's re-release of the Ah!/Oh! My Goddess! manga series by Kosuke Fujishima; now featuring the manga industry standard right-to-left reading direction which I still have to get acclimated to. Since it is the first volume of the series, the character designs are still in it's early development but characters are still recognizable. If you've seen the new AMG tv series then you'll recognize some of the plot used plus the stuff in-between that wasn't used. Overall good stuff.
Book Description
Motorcycle mania has gotten the best of Megumi, college student (and Goddess roommate) Keiichi Morisato's little sister. Driven to be the best biker around, she decides to test her skill against the Phantom Racer, a ghostly apparition that sometimes appears on a dark stretch of country road. Keiichi and his earthbound-goddess girlfriend, Belldandy, aren't far behind to keep an eye on her, but Megumi better watch the road, because racing phantoms could get her killed! Meanwhile, at Keiichi's technical school, the cybernetic creations of a nutty professor nicknamed "Dr. Moreau" are trouble waiting to happen. Can Keiichi and Belldandy stop the crazed Doctor from unleashing mechanized mayhem on the unsuspecting college campus?
Customer Reviews:
very cute, as usual.......2004-08-01
There are basically two main stories in this book. The first is about a Phantom Racer. Keiichi and Belldandy check it out first, but it's Megumi who holds the key to figuring out what is is and why it's there. The second story is about a mad professor, who is obsessed with creating walking robots. He finds out that Keiichi and Belldandy have such a robot living with them, and he'll do anything to get ahold of her.
I've liked all the volumes in this series so far. While I don't think this volume is one of my favorites, it's still very good. The artwork is beautiful, the stories show a lot of thought, and the characters are tons of fun to read about. I would recommend this series to just about anyone.
