Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

The Book of Letters: A Mystical Alef-Bait is written in English, but the format is classically Talmudic. The book opens from right to left, ending on the page where most readers are accustomed to beginning. Lawrence Kushner, a Massachusetts rabbi whose writings have helped restore a mystical dimension to popular Judaism in America, wrote The Book of Letters in beautiful calligraphy that is reproduced on every page of this finely bound edition. The text does not so much analyze or explain the letters of the Hebrew alphabet as play with them, teasing their forms and functions for hints of their significance. Noting that aleph, the unpronounceable first letter of the Hebrew alphabet, is also the first letter of the names of the first man (Adam), the first Jew (Abraham), and the herald of the last man (Elijah), as well as the first letter of the first commandment, Kushner notes that "The most basic words there are begin with the most primal sound there is." The Book of Letters is full of seriously playful insights like this. It's a marvelous guide to meditation, a primer for students of Hebrew calligraphy, and a fun introduction to learning Hebrew. --Michael Joseph Gross
Book Description
In calligraphy by the author. Folktales about and exploration of the mystical meanings of the Hebrew Alphabet. Open the old prayerbook-like pages of
The Book of Letters and you will enter a special world of sacred tradition and religious feeling. More than just symbols, all twenty-two letters of the Hebrew alphabet overflow with meanings and personalities of their own. Rabbi Kushner draws from ancient Judaic sources, weaving Talmudic commentary, Hasidic folktales, and Kabbalistic mysteries around the letters. Each letter is illuminated and, together with the comments, is presented in the author s original calligraphy, recalling the look and feel of ancient medieval manuscripts.

Really Good.......2007-04-06
THE BOOK IS VERY GOOD; SIMPLY AND DIRECT TO THE CUESTION; A VERY GOOD GUIDE TO THE MISTYCISM IN THE HEBREW AND JEWISH.
The Book Of Letters.......2007-03-29
Fun Book to read , the Author has a sense of humor and I believe this is a much better way to learn.

Eh..........2007-01-23
I enjoy Rabbi Kushner's books, but Sefer Otiyot is frankly a bit of a disappointment. Not that there's nothing good about the book -- no; in fact, it is arty and would make a very nice gift book for someone. But if you really want to study the "mystical meaning" of Ketav Ashurit, then I would go with Rabbi Monk's book instead.
Sefer OTiYOT is truly a Prayerbook of Hebrew Letters.......2006-08-23
The first words from the Book Cover, speak literal truth: When opening this Prayerbook-feeling of like pages as "The Book of Letters" you enter a special world of sacred, traditional and religious feeling. More than just symbols, all 22 letters of the Hebrew Alef-Bait become like personalities all their own.
The SEFER OTiYOT exist independently of ink and paper or even words. The good Rabbi again spins out his volumes of meaning, much the same as in the Introduction to The BOOK Of WORDS. "The SEFER OTiYOY (written in Hebrew letters) have been a mystical Alef-Bait and fantasy for the Jewish people all through their history...One mythical hope with this book is to keep that tradition alive for so many who have even forgotten some of the letters!"
Each beautifully ornamented Hebrew Letter from ALEF...to SHIN... to TAV...is carefully introduced almost in Rabbinical language! I can only quote from SHIN: "Shin is the letter just before the end. It is the fitting together of all the parts. The restoration of all the scattered shards parts. This is Shin: Peace (Hebrew) SHALOM. Completion. Wholeness.
Rabbi Kushner likely spent many hours, many days, maybe even many years, creatively putting together these mystical letters and words of the Hebrew Alef-Bait. What a treasure of spiritual depth, learning and wisdom in few pages. Reverently from Retired Chap Fred W Hood
Stunning.......2006-01-12
It is believed that G-d spoke the universe into existance using the letters of the Hebrew Alefbet. Each letter, therefore, carries within it one 22nd of the energy of the universe. Kushner captures this so beautifully in The Book of Letters. Each page is a collage. Each letter beautifully drawn. Each description a love letter to G-d.
This is truly a holy book.

Message of Encouragement.......2006-06-16
The Letter to the Hebrews, described by its author as a "message of encouragement," takes the form of a written sermon rather than a letter or an epistle. In his commentary, Daniel J. Harrington writes that the basic theological point of Hebrews is simple: "Christ is both the perfect sacrifice for sins and the priest who offers himself as a sacrifice." Though the major theme in Hebrews is priesthood of the Old Testament and of Christ, Harrington notes that many find Christ's priesthood an appropriate model for the ministerial priesthood and Christian life in general.
The commentary is clear and detailed, building careful links to the culture in which the "letter" was written and to the Old Testament. A section of review aids and discussion questions and an index of citations from the Catechism of the Catholic Church are included. As with other titles in the New Collegeville Bible Commentary, "The Letter to the Hebrews" is a valuable resource for individuals and groups interested in learning more about Scripture and its implications for today's Christians.

Book Description
This book presents an up-to-date translation of seventy-nine letters and fragments, virtually the complete corpus of surviving letters in Aramaic and Hebrew down to the time of Alexander, omitting only the most fragmentary and the most formulaic. This includes the correspondence from ancient Jewish writers at Yavneh-Yam (7th Century), Arad and Lachish (6th), and Elephantine (5th). There are also administrative letters from Persian bureaucrats, private commercial and family correspondence from Egypt, and other scattered letters from Assyria, Egypt, Philistia, and Idumaea. Also included are short notes in Edomite, Ammonite, and Phoenician (one in each language). The second edition is supplemented by an additional nine texts, some of them published very recently, not found in the 1994 edition. Translations are now provided with line numbers, and some have been improved in the light of recent studies. Each letter appears alongside the original text in square script. Brief introductions set each group of letters into its historical and social context. The arrangement within each language group is roughly chronological.
Book Description
In this survey of recent scholarship about Hebrews published since 1975, the author informs prospective students of resources available to them and what progress has been made in scholarship. As an introduction, the book highlights works that illumine the text in its first-century setting--commentaries, setting, structure, and authorship. Then it discusses Hebrews' use of the Old Testament--its hermeneutical stance and use of biblical figures. Finally, the book treats the theology of Hebrews and some of its major themes.
Biblical scholars, theologians, students, and pastors will find this work to be stimulating and enriching on the biblical, theological, and pastoral levels.

"echad" means our soul is one........2000-06-28
I understand completely being unsettled by the term "Jewish soul" as if it were something higher or different from any other soul. Please understand that the term "Jewish" is only "one who walks the path of G-d". Whatever G-d is to you, the Universe, the Collective Soul/Consciousness, Divine Light... so long as you are seeking to act according to Truth, so long as you struggle to listen, or surrender to hear- constantly or again and again; you who walk towards unity and/or clarity, you may read this book and know that it is indeed addressing you. Do not let language interfere with truth.
Comment to Reviewer "A reader from Netherlands, 1999".......2000-01-22
"Jewish soul" are wrong words for it ! The right words are "ISRAEL's soul" ! The cabalistic meaning of "ISRAEL" is: "the one who have striven with GOD". She/he can be anybody of any culture or religion. She/he have only to be so far... This correction will probably make you give 5 stars!
The wondrous meaning of the Hebrew alphabet.......1999-12-04
This fascinating book reveals the spiritual depth and meaning of the Hebrew letters. It is a must for all those interested in truly learning and understanding Hebrew.
A mere collection of intellectual ideas.......1999-08-26
Rabbi Ginsburgh has obviously done a great amount of work in gathering all of the ideas that he has presented in this book. Unfortunately the work is severely marred by Mr Ginsburghs horrible beliefs about the difference between "Jewish" and "non-Jewish" souls. We are to believe, that somehow, the Divine Spark dwelling in a Jewish body is fundamentally different to the Divine Spark dwelling in a non-Jewish body. This book is strictly the work of an armchair theorist.
Greatest book I ever read!!!.......1999-07-21
After reading this book you will discover that it is much more than just a book on the Hebrew Letters. But rather a complete encyclopedia of Kabbalah, Hassidut, mysticism, spirituality and much much more! The book has changed my life. A must for everyone searching for a true way to serve G-d.
