Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.
Book Description
In this age of digital media, the handcrafted ethic and aesthetic of a Hatch Show Print poster is beyond compare. Country musicians and magicians, professional wrestlers and rock stars, all have turned to Nashville's historic Hatch Show Print to create showstopping posters. Established in 1879, Hatch preserves the art of traditional printing that has earned a loyal following to this day (including the likes of Beck, Emmylou Harris, and the Beastie Boys). Hatch Show Print: The History of a Great American Poster Shop is the first fully illustrated tour of this iconic print shop and also chronicles the long life and large cast of employees, entertainers, and American legends whose histories are intertwined with it. Complete with 190 illustrations--as well as a special book jacket that unfolds to reveal an original Hatch poster on the reverse--Hatch Show Print is a dazzling document of this legendary institution.
Customer Reviews:
The shop that set the standard!.......2005-07-04
For generations woodtype was used because it was the most efficient way to produce posters quickly and cheaply. Few could forsee the woodtype "look" becoming a style all its own. Hatch Show Print is now the standard for woodtype printing and they have done this by essentially not changing a thing. Many print shops created posters, but only Hatch survived them all to come out on top. Their work is now seen on album covers, product packaging and of course posters. Hatch posters are the very definition of American country music and rock and roll. Nothing beats the sheer tactile quality of a poster produced by hand. This book is a must for designers and music afficianados. Despite being packed with classic posters I only wish this book was about twice as thick with every known Hatch poster included (this is probably unrealistic but I can always hope). Well worth the price of admission none-the-less!
Proud to be a Hatch Show Printer.......2003-02-21
As a designer and printer at Hatch Show Print, this book makes me very proud. Our beloved Jim Sherraden, along with Elek and Paul did an absolutely amazing job collecting, archiving and compiling 123 years worth of incredible letterpress poster history. The images are simply stunning and the stories are engaging. This is a coffee table book that will spend more time in your hands than on your coffee table.
Buy the book and then stop by the shop located in historic downtown Nashville. Get a tour of the shop, see the posters, and have Jim autograph your book!
Beautiful collection of hundreds of years of poster design.......2001-10-21
Hatch Show Print: History of an American Print Shop is a pleasurable read of over a century's worth of poster design, but the accompanying images are what make this book. Chronicle Books has done an incredible job of reproducing this letterpress artwork while retaining all of the charms and details of this unique process. Definitely one of those books you can pick up dozens of time and find something with each new look. There is rumor of an expanded version to come in the future, unfolding more of this shop's extensive history and possibly a new chapter chronicling the more recent designs. I definitely look forward to that!
HATCH is an amazing place with amazing work........2001-10-20
I haven't received the book yet, but I can tell you that the work done at Hatch, both historically and today, is a piece of Americana rarely equalled. Author Jim Sherraden is an amazing artist and craftsman... and, I might add, an extraordinarily nice guy. He's printed several jobs for me and even let me hang around the shop on a couple of trips to Nashville. His personal paintings based on Hatch posters are nothing short of breathtaking. Buy the book and, if you get a chance, stop by the shop in Nashville. These guys are the real deal.
Show poster art and the American entertainment industry.......2001-09-07
Jim Sherraden, Elek Horvath and Paul Kingsbury's Hatch Show Print traces the evolution of show posters for entertainers, examining links between show poster art and the American entertainment industry from the early 1800s to modern times. Nashville's long-time Hatch Show Print is the focus of this examination, which blends a survey of popular culture with an examination of letterpress and print evolution. Exceptional.

High Art explores both the creation of psychedelia and the imagery born of this movement. It covers the Avalon and Fillmore ballrooms who commissioned the art, the UFO Club in London and features leading American artists, profiles of British artists and it describes the collectors' experience.
Customer Reviews:
Love this book!.......2006-02-03
I have used this book as a "muse" for my art because the colors are exceptional and without any drug use I feel I have had an all natural mind blowing -- expansive and inspiring journey!!!!!!!
The sixties poster art imagery has become a staple of the fashion industry right now so it means even more to me to page thru this beautiful book and look at representations of authentic expression rather than a t- shirt. "High Art -- A History of the Psychedelic Poster" is rich in colorful expressions like the music of the time. This book give you the economic, political and essentials to understand the context, substance of depth that inspired the creativity! The book includes "The New Wave" and they are fun (example a poster for Hole) but the psychedelic art is in a league of it's own with Grateful Dead, Jimi Hendrix and Dylan posters-- my personal favorites. Stanley Mouse and Rick Griffin are some of the shining stars. The Dylan poster "Blowing in The Mind" by Martin Sharp for Big O is pure energy . There are a couple of Big Brother and the Holding Co. images but I wish there was one that highlights Janis Joplin. How ironic the new hip pricey t-shirt industry has embraced Janis! David Vaughn's Psychedelic Buick is stunning and owning the convertiable would be dreamy but I can enjoy the photo (page 146) minus the maintanace and parking tickets!
I have damaged my copy with my own paint splashes.
I am glad I have this book in my collection!
Far out but not Outtasight!!!.......2003-03-03
First off, fair warning: If you think you might like to own this book then you should buy it now as this is a highly collectable book. Essentially, this is a survey of the 1960's era psychedelic concert/venue poster genre that sprang up in San Francisco before spreading throughout the USA and the world in the form of the 'black light' poster.
The author, a British music promoter who became a poster art aficionado, has done a good job of describing the development and rise of the genre as well as tying it into the overall history of the advertising art poster beginning in the 'Belle Epoque.' Within chapters, he singles out artists and their work and places them in the context of the movement. The national origin of the author is a factor here as it is obvious that the author has personal relationships with and has a more intimate knowledge of the British poster artists and art scene than he has with those of the American scene. Still, he does a more than adequate job covering the domestic American scene. This book weighs a ton because of the excellent, thick, paper stock it is printed on and because the English printer used lavish amounts of eyepopping brightly colored ink in its printing. As a sidenote, there is a fascinating section on acid blotter paper art with accompanying photographs, and a section on collecting psychedelic posters. PLUS, to get one's collection going, new copies of the book include a coupon for a complimentary psychedelic poster from Alan Forbes and the San Francisco Art Lab.
I rate this book only four stars because 1) due to its highly collectible nature, it should have been published in hardback also. 2) The author cites some work by an artist and then fails to picture/identify it. 3) This topic begs for a book at least twice a long as it is.
Still, I am quite certain that any purchaser will be more than happy with it.
Groovy, Dude!.......2002-12-20
Ah, the nostalgia this book brings back. Not only the beautiful art work, but the musical groups, the "High" Priests and Priestesses of the era - Tim Leary, Grace Slick, etc. I thought it was interesting that this style of Art poster is making a comeback! Check out the last few pages with posters for Soundgarden, Hole, Beastie Boys and TOM JONES!!!
High quality printing and paper. A certificate for a LImited Edition Poster is included.
One of the books authors, Ted Owen, was involved in the music scene of the era. He helped discover groups like The Pretenders, Adam & The Ants and The Cure.
PEACE, BRO(...)
The history of the poster ranges from Euro influences through the concurrent American masters.
AMAZING.......2002-10-23
takes me back to the day, one of the most unique art book that i have seen for a very long time
High Art: A History of the Psychedelic Poster.......2000-06-10
A highly informative book with beautiful graphics for those interested in vintage posters of the 60's or graphic arts or typology. Detailed information on the individual artists such as Victor Moscoco, Stanley Mouse, Randy Tuten, and my favorite but more obscure Bonnie MacLean who was a Fillmore staff member responsible for the chalkboard announcements at that venue. Includes American and British Artists. The unique use of color and fonts, which were influenced by the Victorian and Art Nouveau era makes this a must buy for art, graphics, and design students and vintage poster collectors. And if you grew up in the 60's like me, this book is a bit of nostalgia that shows that the art work was really well executed even under the influence....
Book Description
Legendary impresario Bill Graham began in January 1966 to commission posters to promote the concerts he was putting on at San Francisco's Fillmore Auditorium. The poster artists created vivid, irreverent banners that reflected their own sense of poetics, style, and wit. What resulted were signature juxtapositions of design, lettering, and color that represented a brand-new art form. These posters now occupy a place in art history while surviving as treasured artifacts of rock archaeology.
Published in cooperation with Bill Graham Presents, The Art of the Fillmore reunites for the first time in a single volume the original Bill Graham posters created exclusively for the San Francisco and New York Fillmore dance concerts. Indexes cross-reference the posters with the bands they advertised and the poster artists who created them.
Customer Reviews:
Useful Resource.......2007-06-17
The main positives: this is complete, showing the first and most modest flyer, up through the closing of the Fillmore; almost all the flyers are at least partly in color, and they do indeed show the tenor of the era (which I well remember).
The main negative: most of these are shown as a small part of each page; few are relatively large, and I don't recall any being full-page size. So, don't buy this book in the expectation that you're getting a collection of full-page reproductions (even reduced in size from the originals, as they would be).
Important historical document found!.......2007-02-26
This zeros in on what the sixties meant to me. A period of artistic creativity without bounds and limits. One giant leap for mankind...I used to sit in art class and try to copy the lettering in some of these psychedelic posters and it was hard. And to think these San Francisco artist were so prolific as to produce a new one or two every week. I was in awe of this period and love to look back on that scene. Thanks to the Bill Graham estate for compiling this tomb from the ancient ones that came before us.
Superb.......2006-10-08
The psychedelic posters from the late 1960's are classic and very much a part of rock history. These posters were commissioned by Bill Graham, who ran the Fillmore East and West, and other venues. The posters were beautiful and colorful and psychedelic. They were carefully created and used to promote the concerts, but what makes them so amazing is that all this work to promote only a few weekend concerts, which typically featured three or four bands playing on Friday and Saturdays. Never again would such works of art capture the moment. This book tells you about the artists and how they came to become Fillmore artists, and of course full color reproductions of the Fillmore posters are prominently featured through the book. If you love the posters, you'll love the book.
Art of the FIllmore - Posters 1966-1971.......2005-10-26
As a person who attended some of the shows represented by the posters, I loved the book. It brought back many, many memories and inspirations. The book captured the essence of Bill Graham as an entrepreneur and, as it turned out, supporter of the arts.
Not a book for everyone, but if you were there, or you think you wanted to be there, this is a great value.
A must have for any collector of the Fillmore posters........1998-09-19
Now you can see just how beautiful these rock posters are. Each poster in the Fillmore series is presented in full color. An excellent tool to guide you in your purchases, or just help you to enjoy these works of art. Excellent information on the artists and some cool insights into the people and the place that was the Fillmore west.
Book Description
Showcases more than a hundred of the most imaginative and colorful posters to come out of San Francisco's psychedelic rock music scene.
In the mid-1960s, San Francisco rock, or psychedelic rock, emerged in Haight-Ashbury, fueled by the use of hallucinogenic drugs like LSD. Groups and musicians such as the Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Big Brother and the Holding Company, Santana, and others rose to prominence and in turn influenced musical groups around the United States and in other parts of the world, from the Velvet Underground to Sly and the Family Stone to the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.
The posters announcing the concerts that were held at places such as the fabled Fillmore and the Avalon Ballroom matched the revolutionary music with their brilliant, swirling colors and hallucinogenic imagery. Created by some of the most inventive graphic designers of the era, including the "Big Five" of psychedelic poster designWes Wilson, Victor Moscoso, Rick Griffin, Alton Kelley, and Stanley "Mouse" Millerthese groundbreaking posters reflect a singular moment in the history of American culture.
This book features more than one hundred of the most striking and unconventional posters from this memorable period, stunningly printed in five colors to best reproduce the rich hues and dizzying patterns of the originals. The accompanying text covers the history of psychedelic rock music, explains the influences of Art Nouveau, Op Art, and other art movements on the poster design, and discusses the contributions of dozens of artists to the medium. 120 color illustrations.

Book Description
This collection of one hundred brilliantly colored and wonderfully diverse illustrations includes Keith Haring's most important posters, an art form that suited his distinctive talent and his conviction that art was for everybody.
In an era when art and art lovers were busy taking themselves seriously, Keith Haring emerged as a refreshing presence whose bold and playful work often carried a sobering message. AIDS prevention, gay rights, apartheid, racism, drug use and environmental protection were all issues that Haring cared about deeply and he brought them to the public's attention in unique and arresting ways. In addition he lent his trademark images to advertise numerous concerts, sporting events, and exhibitions. Although Haring died at a tragically young age, the universal pictorial language he created will ensure that his message of love, tolerance, and respect, will endure.
