Steven Heller and Louise Fili have captured the essence of the Art Deco era Italian style with clear, crisp, and colorful graphics. The quality of the book itself with it's quality paper stock and thick bendable hard/soft cover is outstanding. The quality of the curation and academic research was excellent. This book was exactly what I needed. It has tons of clip-art from the Art Deco era. I don't know why but it seemed harder for me to find a good compilation of Deco images, than it is to find Art Nouveau.

I am a student studying graphic design and found this book to be very helpful in my classes. There are many fully colored pictures of the actually art work and limited text. I enjoy this because I am a visual person and learn by seeing. This book is by far one of the best I have seen.

This book represents early Art Deco Designs, perhaps even late Art Nouveau Designs. The strikingly remarkable feature is the color combinations, which show the early flavor of the period. These designs were taken from two portfolios of 1920's artists.
There is a full range of figures from antalope and mountian lion to flowers and people. Some of which are highly intricate and ornate, while others verge on the primative. As a source book for a decorative artist (me), it gives subject and theme for any period compositions which can be mounted.
The art is highly styled and ornate, giving a fresh look to the Art Deco Period.

This is another first-rate collection of deco commercial art that you wouldn't see elsewhere, and it proves that graphic design was in a kind of golden age at the time. The work here is rich and appealing, as in all the books of the series, and if you're a designer, you'll find it very inspiring as well, and a handy reference tool.
The book itself is a fairly small paperback, though very nicely printed on glossy paper. The work inside this and other volumes in the series certainly justifies a larger, hardcover treatment.
