Book Description
My Pony Written and illustrated by Susan Jeffers I want a pony. I want a pony more than anything in the world. At the heart of Susan Jeffers's exquisite picture book lies the idea that in her imagination, a child can journey anywhere and do anything-even fly through the stars on her very own pony. Susan Jeffers, an avid equestrian and horse owner, effortlessly captures the grace and magic of horses in this luminous children's picture book. My Pony is a landmark book in Ms. Jeffers's career, for not only is it the first book she's both written and illustrated, but it is also inspired by her own experiences as a young girl who wished for a pony and channeled that desire onto paper. Ms.Jeffers is a New York Times best-selling artist. She was a Caldecott Honor recipient for Three Jovial Huntsmen, she illustrated Love Songs of the Little Bear by Margaret Wise Brown, and continues to illustrate the best-selling McDuff series by Rosemary Wells

Cute pony book.......2007-01-12
My girls LOVE horses. This is a really cute book, with great pictures about a little girl and how she loves ponies. It's totally worth it!
My Pony.......2006-03-25
This is a wonderful story perfect for your imaginative little ones. It took me back to my childhood and all the imagining and pretending I did as a little girl. My children were enraptured. I did not give it a five b/c they have not asked me to read it over and over. I think you have to be in a special mood for this story. Great at bedtime! Great for the little girl or boy who dreams of horses or loves animals.
For every girl who has asked for a horse..........2006-02-08
The is a wonderful book for children who want their own horse and must live with the realization that they can't have one... but it is always nice to dream.
All Time Favorite.......2005-11-11
This has become a book for our special collection-my daughter received it for Christmas at age 4 & still loves it a year later. The illustrations are truly beautiful (as are all of Susan Jeffers illustrated books), and the story is sweet & appropriate for young kids (I'd say 10 and under). It's a story about a young girl who wants a pony, and draws & dreams up her own.
What child doesn't love ponies?.......2005-08-02
A beautifully illustrated book and heart-warming story any child would love. A "keeper".

A precious gift for any horse lover.......1999-03-27
I have bought five copies of this lovely art book. Each one I have ended up giving as a special gift to a horse lover. I am ordering one as a wedding gift now...that will make six purchases. Someday, I'll have supplied all those lucky people with one and keep one for myself.
This book is for those who love and understand horses........1998-11-07
Experience this book through your imagination. The illustrations tell more of the story than the written words. This book was given to me by my horse's first veterinarian who knows, that from time to time I need a 'horse fix'. I lost my best friend in '97. This book brings back memories of him. If you show a horse a kind hand, you will have a friend for life and this book proves it.
A horse lover's dream come true!.......1997-07-15
This amazing book arrived today, and I sat down and read it from cover to cover completely, happily transfixed. If you know horses and love them or know a friend who does, give this book to yourself or your friend. The illustrations are simply breathtaking and the text filled with humor, wonder and love
Book Description
The first book to offer in-depth instruction in the art of drawing and painting horses, this study examines the development of time-honored equine art in sporting, portrait, and country life painting.
A gifted specialist shows how line, shape, form, light, color, value, space, and design are applied to drawing and painting the horse. Step-by-step lessons detail equine anatomy, skeletal structure, and musculature; differences among breeds; techniques for quick life sketching versus working from photographs; how to include riders on horseback; and basic landscape settings. Fine examples of contemporary equine painting are included.
Customer Reviews:
Nothing special.......2007-02-04
I am a bit disappointed in this book. It has some diagrams of horse anatomy and movement that are useful, but there's not much in it about painting. I was really hoping for more detail about color and the little things that make horses a challenge to draw and paint. This book would be most useful for the beginner artist, or an artist who isn't familiar with horses.
Good starter book.......2006-07-15
The book provided some basic horse anatomy at a general level appropriate for someone starting out drawing horses. There were many nice illustrations and example paintings provided. The general art instruction on color, materials, etc was a basic primer, nothing new there. I would have found this book much more useful if it had included photos of various breeds of horses (there were none) rather than the provided sketches of just a few samples.
bravo!.......2002-07-08
Great job! I found just what I was looking for in this book. The detail has been very helpful and the examples included are a joy to view. I love it for helping with my painting. My daughter loves it for the works of art by the author and others she has included. Thanks
a beautiful book.......2002-03-20
the art in this book, including that by the author/artist, is worth the price alone. I've not had the chance to try the drawing suggested, but the information offered seems really valuable. Worth having if only for the beautiful pictures of horses.
Great Book for the Basics.......2002-03-09
All beginning artists, not only those who struggle with capturing equine form and movement, would benefit from this book. The chapter on selecting a medium is a particularly good primer on the qualities and characteristics of materials available to the initiate. Equine anatomy is comprehensively discussed, with clear, instructive drawings and interesting anatomical details which may help add realism to artistic renderings. The elementary concepts of equine movement are crisply defined, and the author's advice on the use of color and technique is helpful. Developing equine artists will find the book to be a great resource in refining their skills.

GREAT!!!.......2002-01-25
I am really into drawing and I am good at it. However, horses are probably the hardest animals to sketch because of their interesting shape and detail. This book makes it easy to draw all kinds of horses, starting with simple heads, advanced heads, and then progressing to full bodies, getting more challenging but keeping an easy pace as you go. Not to mention tips on keeping porportions straight, and supply suggestions. Now I really want to get "Drawing Dogs" by Walter Foster!
Simply beautiful!.......2000-11-26
A wonderful book with a two-page spread of a gorgeous painting which teaches more about horses than most of the gritty technical stuff can. :) I'm not a big fan of How-To-Draw books, but this one is very good because of the simple, straight-forwardness (and the awesome painting!)

Fantastic Inspirational Great Horse drawing book!!!!.......2007-09-03
The drawings and watercolors in this book are utterly beautiful. A beginner might want a second book but this should be in everyone's library. It shows how to create beginning drawings to mature accomplished drawings and they all capture the magic and mystery of the horse. Its my favorite horse drawing book!!!!
Not for Painters.......2007-06-12
I was dissipointed in the fact that it was mostly drawing and NOT painting. The price is too high for such a small amount of pages.
The drawings are well done , but for beginngers. Anyone who loves horses will love it anyway.
Product Description
History: Fiction or Science? is the most explosive tractate on history ever written - however, every theory it contains, no matter how unorthodox, is backed by solid scientific data. The book is well-illustrated, contains over 446 graphs and illustrations, copies of ancient manuscripts, and countless facts attesting to the falsity of the chronology used nowadays, which never cease to amaze the reader. Eminent mathematician proves that: Jesus Christ was born in 1153 and crucified in 1186 The Old Testament refers to mediaeval events. Apocalypse was written after 1486. Does this sound uncanny? This version of events is substantiated by hard facts and logic - validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources - to a greater extent than everything you may have read and heard about history before. The dominating historical discourse in its current state was essentially crafted in the XVI century from a rather contradictory jumble of sources such as innumerable copies of ancient Latin and Greek manuscripts whose originals had vanished in the Dark Ages and the allegedly irrefutable proof offered by late mediaeval astronomers, resting upon the power of ecclesial authorities. Nearly all of its components are blatantly untrue! For some of us, it shall possibly be quite disturbing to see the magnificent edifice of classical history to turn into an ominous simulacrum brooding over the snake pit of mediaeval politics. Twice so, in fact: the first seeing the legendary millenarian dust on the ancient marble turn into a mere layer of dirt - one that meticulous unprejudiced research can eventually remove. The second, and greater, attack of unease comes with the awareness of just how many areas of human knowledge still trust the three elephants of the consensual chronology to support them. Nothing can remedy that except for an individual chronological revolution happening in the minds of a large enough number of people.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.
Customer Reviews:
I'm Not From Germany And Yet Still, I Enjoyed This Guidebook.......2005-09-28
I always had trouble drawing Spirit, Stallion of the Cimarron, until I found this guidebook sitting on top of a pile at a recent garage sale of a troubled family who had moved away from our neighborhood. The boy and girl who lives there grew up too fast, leaving behind their children's books and simple toys, and becoming crack addicts-or, to use the language of the animated feature SPIRIT, addicts of the crack. Thus their abandoned toys seemed to speak of a childhood pushed away too quickly, like a spoiled child will push away the food on the table he secretly craves, in order to illustrate some point of self-esteem! Sad the way we starve ourselves of the things that matter.
But happily for me, little Benji had not done much coloring in this how-to guidebook. Like I say, I always had trouble sketching in the faces and bodies of the CIMARRON crew-Spirit, Rain, Little Creek, the eagle. Nothing worked, and I couldn't find anyone skilled enough at Dreamworks Animation Technique to help me at my office. The faces of Rain, Spirit, Little Creek and others would haunt my dreams at night, and when the shadows of morning crawled in across the windowpane I would struggle for a pencil, trying to trace their faces on a pad of paper. But the faces I loved grew misshapen, and the eraser at the end of the pencil was in for a beating.
Now along comes a book which shows you exactly how to get the results you desire. From the slightly square, trim face of plucky little Spirit, to the bold human planes of brave Little Creek, the whole range of anatomy is stripped bare. I said to my dog, "You'd be able to make your own tattoo of these guys if you wanted to," for as all animators know, once you know the secrets, a few brisk strokes in the right direction will bring recognizable faces to life, just as though we see them in our hearts. I went through the whole course in a little under ten weeks, turning this into the "Summer of Spirit, Stallion of the Cimarron, and Friends."
A very great book!.......2003-08-05
You can't buy the book "How to draw Spirit and Friends" in Germany, but you can order it! I'm come from Germany and I've order this book! I hope, it is a great book. You sad it's great and the booktitle sounds very good!

Franz Marc: The Retrospective
ASIN: 3775709533
Release Date: 2000-10-02 |
Book Description
Like no other artist, Franz Marc pursued the representation of the horse--a central topic in the fine arts--as his life's work. As a painter and co-founder of the "Blaue Reiter" he created symbolic, visionary images which today stand among the icons of modernism. This publication presents an overview of Marc's paintings, drawings, gouaches and a number of famous postcards--from his nature studies of 1905 and 1906 to the sketches he made on the eve of World War I. During this short period of time, the horse motif became increasingly central, especially after Marc moved from Munich to the secluded upper Bavarian village of Sindelsdorf. With a skill for precise observation and intuitive understanding, Marc attempted an ''animalization of art,'' in which the horse became both subject and expression of the hope for better and more organic existence.
Customer Reviews:
Exceptional art book.......2001-04-06
Even though I'm a professional artist, I don't normally buy art books of this sort (display books about a single artist). And I'm not even all that big a fan of the art of Franz Marc, although I do have some interest in his painting. However, this book really stands out. The reproductions are absolutely exquisite, with rich colors and good detail, and the pages themselves, physically, have a nice texture to them. Additionally, a lot of the pictures that are included in the book aren't all that familiar and are not usually seen in books about the artist. The writings about and by the artist are also very insightful and made me want to know more about him, and to really care about his work in a way I never had before. This is an exceptionally beautiful art book, and if you like the work of Franz Marc you will love this.
