Wonderful for all children!.......2007-10-03
We have had several books of Bible stores for our children (2 1/2 and 4 1/2). We recently chose this Bible to move our older daughter onto a new Bible with more stories. It has turned out that this is the Bible that both choose every evening. We have "tag team" with picking stores to read and it is wonderful to see them choosing their favorites AND new ones. The illustrations are wonderful and the stories are paraphrased well to help teach God's word.
Highly Recommended #1 Children's Bible.......2007-09-23
My grand-daughter loves this book & so do I! I'm using this bible for our Children's Church & they listen attentively. They love the illustrations & they look forward to hearing the stories every Sunday.
Pick This One- Its a Great Beginner Bible.......2007-09-17
I had the original copy when I was younger so I bought this for my child. I love the illustrations. My son is in 1st grade and he loves to read a story (or two) each night. I was supprised how many stories it had in it and how it basically goes through the entire Bible- Old and New Testament. It really shows the love of God. Highly recommended.
Superb children's Bible.......2007-09-07
I researched a LOT of (children's) Bibles before buying this one - and I can tell you this one is simply the best. The illustrations are outstanding and the associated text with each picture is very pleasant to read to our five year old every night.
Beginner's Bible.......2007-08-09
great for our just turned 5 year old...pictures on every page and the stories are short to keep his attention...

The latest principles, processes, and practices
Chemical engineering design is in a constant state of flux. From advances in the practice of separation operations in chemical engineering to corresponding changes in the curriculum, much has happened in the seven years since the publication of Seader and Henley's first edition of Separation Process Principles, including: (1) advances in the fundamentals of mass, heat, and momentum transport, (2) wide availability of computer programs to facilitate the application of mathematical models to a wide range of separation operations, (3) increasing interest in separations involving the solid phase, and (4) changes in the practice of chemical engineering to emphasize product design as well as process design. This second edition reflects these changes.
Highlights of the second edition
- Chapter on crystallization, including thermodynamic and transport aspects, the MSMPR crystallizer model, and treatments of screen analysis, desublimation, and evaporation
- Chapter on drying of solids, including treatments of psychrometry and several dryer mathematical models
- Chapter on leaching of solids, including a discussion of the espresso machine
- Substantial new sections on ultrafiltration and microfiltration, including detailed examples
- Added section on simulated-moving-bed adsorption, including detailed examples
- Expansion of the treatment of batch distillation to include optimal control
- New sections on hybrid systems and membrane cascades
- Now includes 214 examples and 649 homework exercises

Aspen heavy.......2006-07-01
During my final year of undergrad coursework I used this textbook for my design courses. The good thing is Dr. Seader was the professor for my second design course. As a teacher I think he is great with an ability to effectively communicate theory and its practical application without getting caught up in the details. Unfortunately I felt this textbook tries to consolidate the knowledge he has gained in his career resulting in a very dense book. Some problems are solved using direct calculations but a large amount are done using Aspen (a program no one in my class had used) which I felt didn't adequately help develop sequential problem solving skills. The costing analysis theory is good but most of us used Peters & Timerhaus for homework. If you work with Aspen or want a detailed book this will satisfy your desires.
It gets no stars from me.......2006-05-27
My professor for separations was really smart, but like most chemical engineering professors that I have met, they are too smart for their own good. He chosed this book because it was "easy to understand".
Chemical engineering is hard enough, and the fact that this book is used in most separations classes does not help. Each chapter starts off with an industrial example, which is confusing if you're not familar with it already. The authors just throw out concepts that you've never heard before and assume you're an industry expert. As thorough as the book is, you won't feel like a better person after having read it. The authors don't seem to want to teach the subject but rather flaunt their knowledge. The most annoying thing is when the authors get to solving problems. They just start applying equation after equation and don't tell the readers where they get it from. Sometimes, it's not even an equation from that chapter or from the book!
I don't consider myself a bad student, but I seriously could not do most of the assigned problems at the end of the book. How do I become a chemical engineer then? I prefer McCabe's Unit Operations in Chemical Engineering. Although it is not as thorough, and the equations are presented differently, I actually learned something and was interested in the subject matter. The authors relate the theory to real life, and it actually makes sense. In fact, I had to use the McCabe to solve some of the problems from this hellish book.
Bad book to start learning the subject from.......2004-12-19
I had this book as an undergrad and it was terrible. Presentation is muddy, dense, and esoteric - difficult to wade through. We also happened to have a poor teacher for the course; my whole class was lost the entire semester. It felt like a near total waste of time, and it was disconcerting not to know what was going on. Now that I am a grad student in chemical engineering I've actually found parts of the book useful as reference material. But if you have a mediocre teacher, you're new to the subject (undergrad), and this is your assigned textbook I suggest you get supplementary material if you want to know what is going on. I would recommend you get your supplementary material at the beginning of the semester, too, before you get lost in the woods. A search through Amazon on different mass transport books should help you find the right book. Be sure to read reviews before buying though so you don't get stuck with two bad books. There's always Google too if you're stuck with the book, don't have a reference and want to decode what the heck is going on.

Book Description
The reunion of the McGrath sisters in Hazlehurst, Mississippi, is joyful but troubling. Lenny is still unmarried at 30, Meg is recovering from a failed singing career. Babe is out on bail for shooting her husband, and a young lawyer tries to keep her out of jail without falling in love with her. Beth Henley blends comedy and pathos in this Chekhovian story of the sometimes frayed edges of sisterly bonds.

A Timeless Play.......2007-01-10
I loved this play from the day I first saw it in the Manhattan Theatre Club before its inevitable switch to Broadway. And I am to direct it early this year. I found the film interesting - I just watched it last night - but Keaton ()who I have always found wonderful) is sadly miscast. Further there was too much casting the minds back in a sentimental fashion - a big mistake. In fact, the flashbacks did the play no great service at all, and to accompany those scenes with a treacly musical score didn't enhance things at alll. Back to the script. I would have liked some photographed scenes of the Broadway production. The page after page after page of props - many of which were to be in cupboards and drawers that never open - had a mystifying, let's give the actors the right kind of 'feel' effect on me. Actors on Broadway should be better equipped technically than having the need for such specious pieces of 'atmosphere'. As it stands, the script, despite all the useful information at the back, is hardly an actor's handbook, and most would, surreptitiously, turn off copies on larger paper in order that the play can be read more easily, with the left hand pages left blank for the actor to insert his or her notes.
Touching, real, and hilarious.......2004-06-05
I was lucky enough to work with Henley herself on a production of this show while I was in college, which offered a wonderful opportunity to gain some insight into Crimes of the Heart. Being a native Mississippian with two sisters myself, I was struck by how true-to-life this play is. The script captures that elusive "sense of place" that all the critics talk about when discussing the South - crazy relatives, old friends with haunted pasts, the importance of food and other types of sustenance. The plot revolves around wacky personalities, old wounds, and unplanned events, and even though the characters frequently despair, the show ends on a hopeful note.
As with most plays, it's better to watch Crimes of the Heart than to read it, but I admit that I laughed out loud when I read some of the scenes. Henley won a Pulitzer for her work in Crimes of the Heart, and I think it was well-deserved.
Understanding Women........2002-11-03
CRIMES OF THE HEART tells the story of three sisters reuniting together after the youngest of the trio (Babe) shoots her husband and is on the verge of being sent to prison. The story takes place deep in the south in Hazlehurst, Mississippi.
The writing in this play is superb. It captures the spirit of each of the young women splendidly. However, moving as the story is, it isn't quite poetical and thereby misses perfection.
Nevertheless, CRIMES OF THE HEART is an enjoyable piece of theatre displaying the daffy complexity of women seen through the lives of three sisters.
Beth Henley is the greatest!.......2000-05-02
I just finished playing Lenny in a college production of this play. It was the most fun I've ever had in any role! I have two sisters myself, and Henley's depiction of that kind of relationship is incredibly real. There are some great scenes and monologues for acting practice, too--one, two, or three women, and a couple for one man and one woman. I recommend it to anyone.
Realistic Mississippi Life.......1999-11-20
Being a native Mississippian and also a native of Hazlehurst-the setting of the play- it amazing how realistic the play is about life in the South. Henley's play captures the essence of family relationships, that "crazy" person in everyone's family, the relationships between sisters as friends, and the narrow-mindedness of people in the South. Where else but in the South would a person commit suicide just because "they were having a bad day."

Teaching Self-Control: A Curriculum for Responsible Behavior seeks to answer this question: What is a teacher to do when confronted with students who lack basic social skills for controlling their behavior and getting along with others? The solution is simple and direct: Teachers can do what they do best teach. The same skills that teachers bring to mathematics, reading, and science can be incorporated into a social skills curriculum that builds self-control.

Amazing.......2000-12-21
This is a huge book dedicated to the history of violin and bow makers. It's a great book that no serious string instrumentalist or dealer should be without. The amount of history contained in the book is incredible. My only complaint is that the price listings are too old so they are incaccurate. Other than that, this is an incredible book.

Customer Reviews:
Very good and easy to use.......2007-09-12
I was looking for a bible that would be good for students from 1st grade to 5th grade. I had a hard time finding some "in between". I could either find regular "adult" style bibles, which were way too hard for the 1st and 2nd graders, or I found toddler bibles, which were way too easy.
This bible fits in between. I had 3 of my children (ages 6, 8, and 13) give it a test. They all enjoyed it and told me how much easier it was to read.
I highly recommend this bible. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because I haven't had a chance to read more then a few pages, so far.
WONDERFUL Book!.......2007-09-11
If you are a Bible novice or just beginning, this is a great addition to anyone's library of Christian books. It is so simple to read, but not too simple to be too childish or boring. Wonderful read for any age!
Not just for KIDS.......2007-09-11
My daughter is ten and together we are reading this bible. It is easy to understand and the reading level is perfect for 4th-6th graders to read independently. I am learning along with her as we discuss each passage.
Day by Da y Kids Bible.......2007-06-27
This is a great Bible for kids to read on their own. Our children are 8 and they can read and understand it on their own.
Excellent transitional bible.......2006-10-15
This bible provides the perfect transition between reading "bible stories" and reading an actual bible. The readings have headings indicating the relevant bible chapters so that extra illumination from an adult bible may be easily added. This book has been an excellent resource for my daughters aged six and eight and will allow them to easily move into a bible like the kids quest bible.

Book Description
Where are all the real men? she wondered...
For Lady Diana Davenport, they existed only in her books and dreams. There she could lose herself, becoming the licentious Diana, goddess of the hunt--far from the rigid restraints of eighteenth-century London, where she was courted by fops and fools. That is, until she tried on an authentic Roman helmet in an antiques store and was catapulted back in time, landing in Marcus Magnus's arms. This was no dream! She was lost in Aquae Sulis, the city she knew as Bath, prisoner of a Roman general who accused the violet-eyed beauty of being a Druid spy--and then made her his slave!
"COME TO ME."
His words were soft, imperious, charged with danger and desire. Marcus Magnus was powerful, arrogant, and infuriating. A real man. And now Lady Diana was his slave, hostage to his will, vowing to fight him to the end--with every seductive weapon she possessed....
Virginia Henley is the author of eight romances published by Dell, including the New York Times bestsellers Seduced and Desired.
She divides her time between Ontario, Canada, and St. Petersburg, Florida.
Customer Reviews:
Glamourous, sensuous historical erotica.......2006-09-27
I adore this book. It is my favourite historical romance novel. I totally fell in love with the heroine and the hero. Diana is the epitome of femininity and sensuality and Mark/Marcus is the virile Roman conquerer. If I were a story book character I would want to be Diana who is portrayed as a perfect goddess. Mark/Marcus is a dream lover come to life when you turn the pages of this treasure. I was deeply touched by the way the love unfolded between the two characters, how their mutual contempt turned to passion and lust then into love.

You know i sometimes wonder if people are reading the same book i must admit that some of virginia henley books are a little out there but anyway...
LOVED IT i detest time travel romance and this was a kind of getting my feet wet to it..the concept was good it was almost like a kismet thing.I think the heroine held her own and not too many heroines can say they lost their virginity twice and loved both Marcus/Mark...good story you know historical romance novels it goes with the time and period of how they would act.
its like i always say a bad reivew can really downplay a good book and a good review can really up play a bad book, because of some of the bad reviews for this book I almost didn't read it but i'm glad i change my mind
I like to be entertained.......2006-06-27
I enjoyed this book because it immediately "enslaved" my imagination. If you are looking for a book to read just for pure enjoyment then I suggest this book. I also implore you to read it with the intention and realization that this is fiction, meant to be nothing more...nor nothing less.
Meeting mr. Abusive.......2006-06-16
Proper and prim english lady fantasizes about meeting a 'real man' finds herself falling back in time to Roman Britain where she is quickly taken by a Roman officer who enslaves her mistreates her forces her to wear scant cloths but eventually falls in love with her but she gets burned at the stake by a jealous Nero.
Difficult to understand to say the least.
She scares me.......2006-02-20
okay, i just finished one of her books the raven and the rose, and it disgusted me. I had never said anything bad about any authors so she was my first. i felt bad that i feel this way about her and looked up reviews on her other books and they scared me off. I hope she writes other genres or tone her books down so that i could appreciate her rich writting style that so intrieged me at first.

Book Description
Astride her white palfrey, surrounded by a nimbus of silver-blond hair, Jasmine was a vision to strike a man mute with desire. But the violet-eyed love child of King Richard's half brother had vowed that no man would ever rule her heart. Until she saw the face of the Devil himself in her crystal ball--the dark, brooding knight who would kill to make her his own. She would risk a dissolute court and a maddened, lustful king to keep destiny at bay, anything to keep her from the hypnotic eyes and burning caresses of...The Falcon.
A wickedly handsome warrior who lived by blood and the sword, Falcon de Burgh wanted to wed no woman--until he laid eyes on the exquisite Jasmine, and he vowed to possess her, to teach her all the wondrous ways a man could love a woman, no matter what it might take to conquer her fiery, unyielding heart. Falcon knew only blind, reckless passion as he swore to tame, at the risk of his life...The Flower.
Customer Reviews:
Think Twice!.......2007-09-27
Illegitimate Jasmine is THE FLOWER. Falcon de Burgh is THE FALCON. As the heroine, Jasmine spends most of the book changing her mind. She is childish, she hisses, she snaps, she hates Falcon, she marries Falcon, she vows distance, she fantasizes, she wants, she changes her mind, she hates! What can I say? "Jasmine is a difficult heroine to like!" What an understatement!
While the hero isn't much better - as heros go - at least Falcon de Burgh deserves some credit in dealing with the very annoying Jasmine! That is . . . until . . . he strikes her!
Unfortunately, this is my first Virginia Henley book. I only hope THE FALCON AND THE FLOWER is not the normal Henley standard!
MaryGrace Meloche.
Not my Favorite Henley novel..........2006-11-09
I agree with many other readers, the heroine Jasmine is very annoying. I was very irratated by the constant references to her being so "delicate" and "ethereal." She is small and petite, I think it is obvious. I thought the hero Falcon was ok. I did like how her gave her a run for her money by actually bedding someone else. You almost wish he ended up with her instead of Jasmine.
I was very disappointed because I loved "The Dragon and the Jewel" and "The Marriage Prize." I only read this book because I had read the other two and thought I was missing something. I don't even think it set a very good stage for the other novels.
I love Virginia Henley but, this one is just not on the same level as the others that she has written.
Mmm..........2006-07-31
I'm undecided.I don't like it and I don't hate it.Falcon was a pretty good hero up to the point where he hit Jasmine.Jasmine was totally unsuitable to be the wife of a great lord she had no knowledge of the duties of a chatelaine.Falcon had other suitable women to choose but he wanted no one else but Jasmine because he was strongly attracted to her.To give Jasmine some sympathy she did not want to marry him she was practically forced. She didn't like him and that transferred to when he tried to make love to her she froze him out.Normally hero and heroine can't keep their hands off each other once they make love for the first time. This a first for her where the heroine does not melt at the hero's touch.Falcon even got to the point where he was so desperate for a spark of desire or affection from that he went from wishing that she could love him to wishing that she desired then finally thinking that he would be happy if he could make her climax when he made love to her.I felt somewhat sympathetic towards him then. But my feelings for Jasmine remained ambivalent throughout the novel
NOT GOOD!.......2005-08-17
OK, I usually enjoy reading Henley's books because of the strong-willed heroines. But, the heroine in this book is simply childish! Plus for 75% of the book it appears that she just REALLY DOESN'T LIKE HIM, for no reason too. For most of the book she never expresses any attraction to him, not even secretly in her own mind. Reading the book was really stressful because it was entirely evident that the heroine harbored no feelings for the hero until 3/4 of the way into the book she gets pregnant then all of a sudden she loves him. It really comes out of nowhere. Then on top of this, the King is a pervert and so is his 14 year-old Queen. The shenanigans that go on at Court are ridiculous and take up too much of the book along with shallow battles, which last only for a paragraph or 2, that are fought over land/castles. The other characteres have no depth. The hero is good enough, I suppose. But the heroine is just completely absurd. I could not beleive how childish she was. She even really thought he was the Devil for a while and then her silly magic...PLEASE! Not to mention, when she finally did make love with the hero, she would "withdraw her spirit and mind" from the act and actually not enjoy it! If you are looking for her to come around, you'll have to read at least 75% of the book.
eh its average.......2005-01-27
i was expecting something more from the book. i knew that it was lacking something when i got half way done. so i was rather dissapointed
