Book Description
All over the planet Drunvalo Melchizedek is known and immensely loved as a great spiritual teacher. Through workshops and books he brought his vision of the Flower of Life and the Mer-Ka-Ba to the world. Now, based on his latest series of workshops, he shares his experiences of living in the sacred space within the heart, and he explains the processes and techniques he uses to enter this space. Join him and be part of the large group of people who have found the joy of living in the space where you and God are one.
"Long ago we humans used a form of communication and sensing that did not involve the brain in any way; rather, it came from a sacred place within our heart.
What good would it do to find this place again in a world where the greatest religion is science and the logic of the mind? Don't I know this world where emotions and feelings are second-class citizens? Yes, I do.
But my teachers have asked me to remind you who you really are. You are more than a human being, much more. For within your heart is a place, a sacred place where the world can literally be remade through conscious cocreation. If you give me permission, I will show what has been shown to me." - Drunvalo Melchizedek

Living in the Heart- How to Enter the Sacred Space within the Heart.......2007-05-12
I felt that this book and CD were an excellent combination. The book was particularly good as it helped to confirm ideas and thoughts that I thought were peculiar to me. At the same time it helped to expand my horizons especially with the CD to use as an actual practical exercise. The meditations on the CD were/are very beneficial to anyone wanting to extend their understanding of their own beliefs and life choices. Thankyou
Heart Based Perception.......2007-04-11
"Long ago, we humans used a form of communication and sensing that did not involve the brain in any way. Rather, it came from a sacred space within our heart." Drunvalo Melchizedek.
This place within our heart is a place to which most of us have had access. As children, many of us, though not all, can remember having lived in a world when we jumped out of bed at the start of a new day, a time when there was a spring to our step, sparks in our eyes and joy in our heart from the sheer pleasure of living. A time when we did not doubt ourselves, our power, or the impact we had on others.
Modern life, which can also be called, 'living by the mind', has taken a good deal of this enchantment away from us. We have collectively forgotten, or at least chosen to forget, that we are also powerful beings, that each of our cells, has a distinct power and an identity that challenges our imagination. In this work, Drunvalo Melchizedek, takes the blinkers off his eyes and tells us what he sees. He tells us also of others who see the same things that he does, as he recounts fascinating excerpts of his conversations with a blind woman employed by NASA, children in China and Mexico, who are being examined for their supersensory tactile perception and indigenous tribes from New Zealand and the Americas (both South and North) among others. In this space of the heart that he describes, co-creation becomes self-evident and miracles, the norm.
Finally, Drunvalo delineates the Mer-ka-ba meditation (the guided meditation is also provided on an attached CD) and discusses the wondrous possibility of co-creation, or getting what you want, from the sacred space of the heart.
A book to enjoy and treasure, to read and to re-read.
Excellent.......2007-02-16
This is a superb continuation of the Flower of Life Volumes 1 & 2. Once again, Drunvalo has compiled a tremendous depth of information and parlayed it in an easy to understand manner. I am grateful for his willingness to seek his truth and share it so that we can all live a little bit better. The meditation is profound.
Good read, but missing information.......2007-01-12
I bought this on the recommendation of a teacher and read it immediately. I felt like I'd walked in on the middle of a movie - I think that the previous books should be read first. I did get a lot out of it though and the Meditation CD was very good and I will continue to use it.

Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Disappointing, Even for a coffee table book........2007-07-28
What can you say? Nice pictures of churches but no theme to choice except maybe political correctness of sect or geography.
Certainly, there was no real 'great architects' theme-- no theology, no style guiding the choices. Browning sort of went "well, these are nice...." The end product, like most coffee table books, is a thousand miles wide and a centimeter deep, and mixes English and Metric, to boot.
Definitely not worth the price, even if the photography is excellent.
How to improve: A seriously revised edition with a back-page of better information about each church or synagogue, some organizational theme (try Maine to California? 1600-2000, etc.), and some glaring omissions (St. John's Episcopal in Queens, a classic Orthodox Church from Alaska, a Franciscan mission from New Mexico? The churches of Columbus, Indiana) rectified would be a good start.
Wait and hope--pray. For now, put your money in the collection plate instead, I'd suggest.
House of Worship...........2007-07-05
A beautiful book of photographs of churches, temples, etc. I was surprised at how wide-ranging the subject places are. I bought this as a Christmas gift for my son and his wife; I am please I have time to read it thru before I send it on. As usual it arrived in good time and perfect condition. Thank you. Kathryn Russell.
Looking Inside Churches.......2007-06-12
The photographs are plentiful and show a wide variety of religions and of worship spaces. Many are interior, in fact the book emphasizes the insides of the churches with good architectural critiques. I would have appreciated a "walk through" coverage in the photographs. For example, the grounds approaching the entry, the narthex or lobby areas, the seating and then the altars. However, the close up views of features like stained glass and woodwork aree exceptional.
Wonderful coffee tabel book..........2007-06-09
I ordered this as a gift for my sisters birthday and one for myself. The pictures and the stories about the churches history are amazing. My sister loved it as I did! Great purchase!!!!
House of Worship worth the praise.......2007-05-12
My 82 year old father has been a Methodist minister for 57 years. I purchased this book for him for Father's Day. What I loved is how it shows the differences in places of worship in stunningly beautiful photography, but also shows what my Dad always told us.....the building we worship in is a tribute to God with which we thank Him for our abilities to create.......the people and what they do are the real Church. The building can burn down, but the people will be the one true church. My Dad taught me that there is no one true religion that God created ALL of us equally and this book just shows our different interpretations of tributes to God.

great.......2007-03-24
Really liked this book on how to reduce the clutter! A great beginner book to feng shui and the basic principles of getting rid of clutter for better energy movement.
Great guidline into clearing your own spaces.......2007-01-08
Just wonderful, practical and easy to follow.
I did the practice and enjoyed it very much, and experienced some surprises
I recommend it
A life changing book...........2006-12-20
This book really helped me. I read this one after I read Karen's other book "Clear your Clutter with Feng Shui" I have done many Space Clearing ceremonies to date and my home always feels fresh and wonderful afterward. I would not be who I am today if it were not for Karen's books! Some people might find her books laughable and even I don't agree with everything she says but parts of this book are very deep and profound and changed my life for the better. If you are looking for a simple, beginners book on Feng Shui this might not be the book for you. A proper Space Clearing ritual is complicated and somewhat time consuming but well worth the effort. Also, I don't think Karen is trying to scam anyone with her products or website. She is simply providing products and making a living helping others and there is nothing wrong with this. Her products are expensive but if you read her books you will know: 1) You won't be buried with material things anyway 2) If you treat any 'sacred' object carelessly it's no longer sacred 3) If you believe an object is sacred and treat it as such it becomes so 4) If you put your best effort into something you will get the best results!....So, if all you can truly afford to do is check this book out from the library and dig your Space Clearing kit out of a garbage dumpster or borrow everything but you really, REALLY put a lot of thought and effort into your ceremony it will probably work for you. My first ceremony was using my Grandmother's table, mom's unwanted dishes, homemade altar cloth, a cheap brass bell I got at an after-Christmas sale and 99 cent candles..That ceremony changed my life forever. Now, its seven years later and I am a much happier person with a new house, a new job, a new man and a much better life. I'm still doing Space Clearing ceremonies a few times a year. True, being able to afford Karen's beautiful bells and fancy alter cloths can make a ceremony feel more special but it really won't help you manifest good in your life if you want things for the wrong reasons or if your heart is not in the right place. A 250$ bell and a 100$ cloth are useless in the hands of someone who doesn't know how to use them!
Nice ideas.......2006-11-28
This book brought home decoration to a new level for me. I used the techniques to rearrange my house and eliminate some things that weren't working. It actually improved the atmosphere of my home. Highly recommend this book and others by the same author.
Beautiful, Inspirational Book.......2006-11-04
Karen is an inspiration. She is a true feng shui practitioner that understands it with all her being. It's not just a feng shui cookie-cutter handbook, it is a guide into the soul of feng shui. We finish this book with an understanding of why we might allow clutter into our lives, and an understanding of how placement affects the energy of a home and how that affects our life. She explains in an exquisite way how to change the less harmonious aspects of our lives by changing a home or work environment into a more beautiful place.

Loved it.......2007-08-28
What a pleasant read. Denise Linn really knows her stuff and is an expert at space clearing. The Feng Shui techniques are wonderful and really make a difference in your space area. Of course there are people who are going to call this woo woo or moosh material - but these are individuals that dont understand energy and how it works. The elemental techniques were specially fascinating - being a Pagan myself, I found this read highly educational and insightful. But dont let that misguide you - you dont have to be a spiritualist or believe in a different religion other than your own to work this stuff - anyone can make use of this book and the techniques described herein.
Love this book!.......2007-03-27
I'm on my second copy--the pages are falling out. Some sections may not be for everyone, but it is an excellent resource. Great book--highly recommended!
Sacred space.......2007-01-09
A neat book, with lots of woo woo and a mish mosh of religious ideals. A little too mixed up for me.
Excellent.......2006-11-06
This is one of the best books, I found on this subject. I use it more like a reference and a diary in my day to day life rather than a book. Its filled with lots of useful and simple information which can change your life for good. Considering the prize, its an excellent investment. There are plenty of reviews about the details of this book. Therefore I will just say that if you are considering a book about space clearing or making your surroundings more harmonious, this is one of the best books available. Go, get it.
Excellent ideas for protection of space at home and in the office.......2006-04-20
I purchased this book based on past reviewers to help me protect my personal energy and work space in my office rather than my home. Although some of the ideas may seem far out, with repeated practice they do work. A book I think perfectly complements this one is Energy Vampires: A Practical Guide for Psychic Self-protection by Dorothy Harbour.
Customer Reviews:
Lovely, on beyond the coffee table!.......2006-06-07
When this book arrived to our all-green-thumbs and "plays with dirt" T-shirt household, I thought it would make a lovely coffee table book: more about ideas, and getting to see what other folks are doing, and not so much a how-to book.
Well, it is all of those things, and a reminder that the inspirational look at this gorgeous thing these folks did sorts of books really are just that: inspiration to get out in one's own garden and start digging, and making the green space thrive. Gardens are not just for market veggies, or even just for table flowers; they restore the soul and feed all of one's senses, and that's echoed beautifully in this book, through the four seasons.
As good a gift for someone who doesn't have room or ability to garden, as for those who are able to peruse its pages and then go plan the current year's new corner, or item, in their own gardens.
Thank you, Elizabeth Murray, for this wonderful book, and for showing us more of some gardens we'd love to see in person some day!
A great gardening book!.......2000-06-12
I happened upon this book at a swap meet and purchased it on a whim. It was beautiful and I thought it would make a great "coffee table" book, if anything. I opened it and couldn't put it down! There are 4 "chapters", one for each season. I especially liked the section of the book describing Murray's favorite gardens. I can't tell you how many extra hours a week I've spent in my own garden because of this book. It worked, Elizabeth! Thank you.
Inspiring.......2000-03-15
I especially liked the "coverage" and photos of the inner-city urban gardens projects in Philadelphia. Ethiopian angels! This book looks at "sacred gardens", old and new, around the world. Also looks at labyrinths and the work of Findhorn and Perelandra, among other things. A beautiful book.
Book Description
The problem with new-style churches isn't just that they're ugly - they actually distort the Faith and lead Catholics away from Catholicism.
So argues Michael S. Rose in these eye-opening pages, which banish forever the notion that lovers of traditional-style churches are motivated simply by taste or nostalgia. In terms that non-architects can understand (and modern architects can't dismiss!), Rose shows that far more is at stake: modern churches actually violate the three natural laws of church architecture and lead Catholics to worship, quite simply, a false god.
Not content to limit himself to theory, Rose in Ugly as Sin takes you on a revealing tour through a traditional church and a modern church. He shows conclusively how the traditional church communicates the Faith, while the modern one simply doesn't. In the process, he'll give you a renewed understanding, love, and gratitude for the gift of faith that is your traditional church - plus a keener sense of just what's wrong with modern churches that look like anything but churches. Rose provides you with solid arguments (as easy to explain as they are hard to refute!) and practical tools that you can use to reverse the dangerous trend toward desacralized churches - and to make our churches once again into magnificent Houses of God!

If ugly saves your soul, I may end up believing in universal ssalvation after all.......2007-01-30
Rose is simply excellent. Most modern churches look like the exact same buildings I go to for business conferences. Will my children dispatch their encounter with God and His sacraments with reverence when it looks just like where they will likely work during the week? Why get up and go to Mass at all?
Even a pagan would appreciate Rose's criticisms, for you could probably substitute the words "church" for "temple" and still have a comprehensible document. But Rose's chief criticism is what the goals of a Christian Church are and how architecture should assist and inspire towards those goals.
So what is going on today? Well, Church architecture is "Cr*p-tastic" as David Letterman would say. Fully polluted with Bauhaus, meaninglessness, abstraction, and the ever-present demonic zeitgeist of "in the spirit of Vatican II," we've got churches where we might as well be served hotdogs and snow cones. As a "Roamin' Catholic" because of business travel, I often look around for the "1/2 price" table from the GAP in most vestibules, given the architecture. Lord knows where they put the Lord, usually tucked away in a forgotten box in a side "chapel" which is (and I have *never* found an example to the contrary) even *more*hideous* than the church it self, if you can imagine such a thing were possible. Rose walks us through why this all happened, and it is sickening work to read.
Buy a copy for your Bishop today. And the next time the Diocese starts to raise money for a parish plant in some newly constructed suburb, be sure that you get the names of all involved and send this book as a gift before the first sketch.
Another Outstanding Expose' By Rose.......2006-03-05
In this book, Rose tackles the continuing de-emphasis of Catholicism within the liberal ranks of the Catholic Church. With photographs, Rose cannot be challenged in his assertion that in the past four decades, liberal bishops and priests have deliberately constructed edifices devoid of inspiration. Take the example of Holy Spirit Church in Montgomery, Alabama, built in 2001...A horrendous example of precisely what Rose exposes. Here is another of those bare-bones stone science labs, astounding in its total absence of the aura of spiriuality, to which all Catholic church architecture should aspire. Small wonder, then, that in the Sanctuary of this albatross, there is no room for something as "bothersome" as the tabernacle holding the Blessed Sacrament, as space MUST be given over to the choir, so they can sit in mock-concelebratory position and sing their Methodist ditties. The heartening news is that this architectural madness is slowly dying of its own worthlessness. Rome, alarmed at these church designs, and with a keen eye toward all manner of abuses in the Church as it exists in America, has issued a growing number of texts regarding elements of church architecture and interior setting. A new generation of more orthodox priests, along with a growing number of parishioners who have tired of this silliness, have become more vocal and there are plans for new churches which return to the architecture designed to inspire, to enhance solemnity and to be treasured as truly Catholic. We didn't get in this overnight, and we won't get out of it overnight. But, with perserverance, we can ensure that future generations will have churches which are truly Catholic.
A Signal Book - Very Important.......2006-02-03
This is an important book for a number of reasons:
1. It can be counted among that group of books that signaled that something has gone terribly wrong with the post-Vatican II renewal. In 2006 we (thankfully) are finally seeing true reform. The seminaries are being reformed, the priesthood is being cleaned up, our Catholic Universities are being called to return to their roots, we have a new catechism and the faithful are finally being taught the faith, and many of the new churches and shrines being built are eschewing the modernist trends of the last 50 years and returning to design that is timeless and a faithful representation of the Faith. Indeed, we are seeing more and more Churches being restored (as opposed to renovated)- a sign that the changes imposed during the 70's and 80's were theologically and aesthetically wrong. This book is important because it was possibly the first to tackle the issue head on and call a spade a spade . . . a sin a sin.
2. From this work, and others like it, a movement has emerged of Church architects to defend and advance the Tradition of architecture. An organization was launched called the Instituted for Sacred Architecture (www.sacredarchitecture.org) and it publishes a journal and highlights best practice and critiques poorly designed new church buildings. Another website grew out of the book: www.dellachiesa.com - which too is about traditional sacred architecture.
3. The word is getting out. The laity is no longer sitting back and doing what they are told by psudo-experts who toute themselves as authoritative interpreters of Vatican II and then dismantle the tabernacle, move the altar and form the pews in a circle around the "family meal". Thankfully, the lay person can now say STOP! And have the supporting evidence to defend what is beautiful and sacred.
We are beginning to see the emergence of what Dr. Paul Vitz, PhD called a "Transmodernist" movement which is marked by a transcending of the modernist doctrines (which the Church has declared heresy) and recovering an authentic experience (and theology) of the Sacred.
Mr. Rose's book is important because it has signaled the fall of the old regime and the restoration of the sacred in Architecture. This is an excellet book for learning why this happened and why it was wrong. It is a hopeful book because it points out the direction of where things are headed for the Church which is marked by the John Paul II Generation!
Thank you Mr. Rose.
PS: If you look at the negative Amazon reviews of this book, they claim Mr. Rose is biased. But if you look at their other reviews, you can quickly surmise who carries the bias. The reality is that a minority of people have invested their identity and professional ethos on the kinds of buildings Mr. Rose legitimately tears apart and exposes to the light of common sense. That is why you will read ugly posts that tear apart Mr. Rose and his book. If you can't win based on ideas, you have to attack the bearer of the ideas himself.
Uglier than Sin.......2005-12-03
This book is, quite frankly, trash. Someone needs to read the Bible. Are the examples carefully chosen to show ugly buildings? Yes, of course. But the theology of architecture is both biased, and sinful. Zero stars?
Excellent.......2005-09-19
This is one of the best "reality" books I have read in long time. It was time that abuses in the American Catholic Church be published and explained, besides the media sensationalism. Now if the Vatican can clean house, that would probably make a lot of American Catholics return to the Church.
Book Description
Now in its third year, the 2007 edition of Sacred Space: The Prayer Book offers a practical, portable way to pray throughout the year.
Sacred Space: The Prayer Book 2007 is a prayer guide inspired by the very popular, successful, interactive website, Sacredspace.ie. Both the book and the site offer a way to reflect and pray each day of the liturgical year; both present a time to quietly connect with God and a space to be spiritually nourished, healed, challenged, and transformed. Inaugurated in 1999 by Alan McGuckian, S.J., and Peter Scally, S.J., of the Jesuit Communication Centre in Ireland, the site has logged over seventeen million visits. Each week, Sacred Space presents readers with a new spiritually based theme. The Six Stages of Prayer guide readers in reflecting upon the Weekly Theme. Daily Readings point readers to Scripture for deeper reflection.

great alternative to web site.......2007-05-14
I have been visiting the Sacred Space website for 3 years. I love it and find it a source of comfort and inspiration. The book version allows me to share this wonderful resource with friends and groups.
A great resource arrives in the nick of time!.......2007-02-15
"Sacred Space: The Prayer Book 2007" is tied to the spiritual leadership coming from a group of Irish Jesuits. The book is wonderful and the seller got it to me in the time promised.
Great prayer/scripture boook.......2007-02-10
This is the second year I buy this book. It has a great prayer format and incorporates scripture into the same. I have also purchased it for my nephew as a confirmation present; it is a great book for teaching the discipline of prayer. I keep mine in the car, which is my quiet and sacred space. This book will help you take a moment to prayer anywhere at any time. It is flexible enough to incorporate your own form of prayer but structured enough to get you in the mindset and considering different spiritual themes. If you fall asleep during prayer, get distracted or just plain don't pray this book will help, the commitment is about five minutes but the feeling lasts all day.
A Great Prayer Guide.......2007-02-04
[...] is an excellent resource for Catholic prayer and spirituality. Started by Alan McGuckian and Peter Scally, two Irish Jesuits, the site offers prayer suggestions based on the daily Mass scriptures used in the Catholic Church and the basic methods of Ignatian prayer. The site also offers seasonal retreats and newsletters to better help people pray. People can sign up to receive newsletters, participate in online retreats, and share feedback. People can also log on to use the daily prayers, but for those of us who do not like sitting at a computer to pray, there is a companion volume: SACRED SPACE THE PRAYER VOLUME 2007.
The book is set up in an easy to use format. It follows the liturgical calendar and begins with a monthly reflection. For each week there are reflection questions that vary from week to week to help the person focus on scripture and God's movement in his/her life. The method is straightforward and easy to use. First the person reminds him/herself that prayer is being in the presence of God and clears the mind. Second, the person asks for God's help in the time of prayer, remembering that while prayer is a free act, it is only fruitful with God's help. Third, we bring ourselves to prayer, bringing our thoughts, feelings, moods, etc. to prayer and sharing them with God. The fourth step involves reading the scripture for the day, the fifth is reflection and conversation with God about the scripture. The prayer ends with the sixth and final step, praising and thanking God.
SACRED SPACE is almost the perfect guide for personal prayer. Since it uses the daily Mass gospels, it is prayer that unites members of the Church throughout the world (in general the same readings are used throughout the world but on occasion there will be readings for feast celebrated in Ireland such as St. Brigid's Day on Feb 1st). It is easy to use so a person beginning a prayer routine will not be intimidated yet since it is based on God's word through the scriptures, it is both simple and sophisticated. It is a method that can be done in a rather short period of time yet can easily be extended to longer periods. It's also a method that can be used at any time of the day. It could easily be something that begins the day (probably the ideal way to use the book), be a refresher for midday, or a good way to conclude the day.
P.S.: For people who have to prepare a homily for daily Mass and run out of ideas, the reflection questions in the book can be a wonderful way to sound new and fresh, and since it stems from prayer and reflection, it is what a homily is supposed to be.
Sacred Space truly facilitates prayer and reflection. .......2007-01-10
This is a wonderful way to draw youself into a spirit of prayer and reflection. There is a scripture reading for each day and then some comments or questions that can be pondered that will, hopefully, bring you into a closer relationship with God through a better understanding of Jesus Christ.

Available in Paperback.......1998-02-14
The Sacred Earth and The Spirit of the Land are now available in paperback. If you enjoy Courtney Milne's books, his prairie books are also back in print and readily available.
Inspirational reading.......1997-12-14
As a photographer I am always looking for new ways to expand my creative awareness of the world around me. In Milne's book I found insight into a subject that is of great interest to me; places and experiences on the earth that take on a sacred quality. The subject matter of sacred sights is definitely not new, but Courtney expands our awareness and defition of what is a sacred sight. A great book for the soul traveller or photographer. I know the book definitely fired up my strong travel bug, as well as adding new insight into my photography. Anyone know when the plane leaves for Cuzco or Tibet?

Book about the Quecha people.......2006-04-10
This is a pretty good book on the Quecha culture of Peru. However, there is not much in the book about Machu Picchu. So the title is a bit misleading. If you are looking for information about the historical and spiritual culture of Peru, this book, along with Return of the Children of Light, and Masters of the Living Energy: The Mystical world of the Q'ero of Peru, are your best bets. If you are looking for detailed information on Machu Picchu you should look at The Machu Picchu Guidebook: A Self-Guided Tour.
A touching spiritual guide.......2000-04-09
Journey to Machu Picchu is not a travel guide, but a glimpse at the magic and spirituality of the Peruvian Andes. A mixture of folk lore, the authors' personal experience, stories from living Quechuans (the direct blood line of the Inca), this book isn't for everyone. But, if you're interested in the spritual aspect of Machu Picchu or the Andes, then this is required reading.
gently informative.......1999-10-06
Carol and Romulo have writen a beautiful description about an wounderful location. Filling the reader with an understanding of why Machu Picchu intrigues so many people, encouraging a deeper love for the region.
A Journey Outward and Inward -- One Not to be Missed.......1998-11-28
Whether you travel to Peru in person or in spirit, this book will guide you. The authors share their vast knowledge of all things Andean, going far beyond Machu Picchu and other sites of Peru in much greater depth than the usual tour books. This book is very readable, very approachable, and the reader comes to know how deeply the authors love Pachamama (Mother Earth) and the people of the Andes. The book is enhanced by outstanding stories of the people and by splendid photography (color as well as black and white).
Bottom line: I love this book.
The book has the information of an encyclopedia without the dryness and some might say without the organization. It is like a syncopated fountain, flowing with details, dotted with definitions and poetic words of the people. Information is often repeated in different contexts so that at the end the reader has really learned something. That something is likely to be very personal to each reader. It may include a knowledge of Andean cosmology and a familiarity with the three worlds of Hanakpacha (upper world, represented by the condor), Kaypacha (present world, represented by the puma), and Ukhupacha (lower or inner world, represented by the snake). Along the journey, the reader will come to know and feel the protection of the apukuna (deities of the mountains) and to appreciate the connection we all have to Pachamama and to each other. The reader can also delve into sacred sites, healing ceremonies, daily life, the rich language, dream material, medicinal healing techniques, and so many other subjects.
Like an incredible tapestry, the book weaves together the personal stories of the authors, plus the tales and traditions of many others. One of the most moving "stories" in the book is related by Aurelio Aguirre, telling of his experience as a guide for an Italian group, whose members may have literally saved his life. The tale keenly illustrates the interconnectedness of spiritual seekers--the learning and teaching and healing that ties us together, whether Andean or not, whether traveling in person or through books, in fact whether "seeking" or not.
This reviewer is no expert on Peru, but I recently returned from my first trip there, during which time this book was published. I know that when (not if) I return to the Andes, this book will accompany me. While in Peru, I had the good fortune to meet Carol Cumes and some of the people whose stories fill this book. They are real, as authentic as can be.
Enjoy this book and see where the journey takes you!
