EXCELLENT !.......2007-06-29
If you are about to build a home...or just enjoy seeing the details that make other structures a "home" then you will love this book...
Very informative...beautifully executed...homerun all the way...
OK, but not what I was looking for........2007-02-13
I was excited to get this book in the mail, as I thought it would have some real good ideas on how to build a larger home on the water that had some character. I found most of the homes rather odd, homes for people that would name their children Jupiter or Flower. I am back today ordering more books. Also most homes either are RIGHT on the water or set back in rock. Didn't find much in the way of regular 100ft setback from the water, woods, maybe a walkout basement type of MN lakes home. There was one from WI but again, it was right on the water, which you normally can not build now days.
Visually Delicious.......2006-12-28
This book is wonderful at capturing the rare beauty of various architectural wonders through vivid photographs and welcoming text. You never get bored flipping through this book and it is incredibly inspiring. It combines several differently designed homes that will appeal to a variety of readers. Reading this book is like daydremaing on paper. Highly recommended.
Architect.......2006-03-11
I found this book both educational and handsome in content and in photography. As an architect practicing in different regions of the country, I'm always thankful for having opportunities to do design work in Maine. Maine, as a place to live, is simply wonderful and unique, but the sense of peace in these "Houses on the Water" is elevated creating a noble inspiration for the reader.
A House on the Water- inspiration for dreaming and designing.......2004-01-19
As a landscape designer, I was consistenly impressed with how these wonderful houses fit into their site, lifting out the critical views and respecting the nature of the place. Having enjoyed the houses that Robert Knight designs, I was pleased to learn why his houses and those selected for his book are so satisfying to see and experience. O'Rourke's photographs are spectacular and with the plans, really help to visualize the structure and the setting and how they fit together. Design professionals and homeowners alike with whom I've shared this book rave about it. A perfect gift for friends and family!

The Razor Edge Book of Sharpening.......2006-11-10
Very nice and useful book. A little bit of theory and detailed sections for each tool. I'll recommend it.
Old book but very informative - shave your legs and slice that onion.......2006-09-18
I like this book. I only give it 4 stars cause it is old and not very pretty, but it is very useful. It gave me a new perspective on grinding and sharpening. I am sure there are others, but this works for me. The book outlines and discusses various thoughts on sharpening and picks up apart all kinds of traditional notions that you keep running into when researching sharpening on the web. Yes, it talks a lot about the meat cutting industry, but heck, few places demand better edges. Anything that works for their knives will work for anyone else that needs a sharp knife. It is an old book and you will not leave it on the living room table for decoration. It has basic old illustrations and cheap print on cheap paper, but that doesn't make the contents any less useful. He does promote his approach to sharpening and sells the hones etc. I bought the book and the company's 8 inch 2 hone kit (for dry grinding, nice, no oil, no water, just wash the hones in water after use). I have tried many things over the years to keep things sharp. I read the book a couple of times (which doesn't take long) and then went ahead and worked with the sharpening kit. I ground new edges and sharpened a half dozen kitchen knives, from a cheap Martha Stewart/KMart 3-inch paring knife to 8 inch chef knives (steel Wusthof and Sabatier carbon steel) and long thin dangerous looking Finnish fish fillet knives, and for fun a cheap basic thin bladed kitchen knife I found in the back of a cabinet. Every one of them now easily shaves hair from arms, legs, chin etc. They just glide smoothly through an onion, even with skin on. Very happily applying the same techniques to sharpening my chisels, planes, etc. too. Just make sure to grind until you get the burr on the coarse hone, and use a light touch on the fine hone.
Way cool. After reading the book and getting a couple of good hones you will be able to grind a new edge on any knife in 15-20 minutes. The edge is the kind that you will (carefully) show your friends while asking them if they have ever seen a sharp knife.
"Be careful, I keep my knives sharp. No, I mean really sharp".
The Razor Edge Book of Sharpening.......2006-08-15
Very helpful book on the art of knife and tool sharpening. I have never had knives as sharp as they are now. I would highly recommend this book.
Poorly written and mostly useless.......2006-05-26
The author presents several different "methods" for sharpening a knife. They all boil down to "scrub the knife back and forth on a stone". This will produce an edge of sorts but not a very good one. He dismisses the collected wisdom of millennia of knife sharpening as "bull" without any evidence to support his claim. The author says he has "studied" and tested his methods. This mean he tries shaving with each blade until it feels right. The rest of the book is an ad for his products. Don't waste you money.
If you are interested in the actual science of sharpening with detailed instructions on how to sharpen almost anything then Leonard Lee's The Complete Guide to Sharpening is the book to read.
If you just want to sharpen you kitchen knives, send them out to a sharpening service every couple of years.(Ask at the local Chef supply store) They will use a slack belt or hollow edge sharpener to put a perfect edge on. This is impossible to do at home without a couple hundred dollars of equipment.
Five Star Read.......2006-02-28
What an informative book. The photos are a little old (circa 1975) but that doesn't effect the content of the book. The history they teach in the field of sharpening is thoughtful and fascinating. The studies they have conducted in their research have been extensive and the results at times have surprised even the writers. I had no idea that the common man could get such a sharp edge on his knifes.
After reading just 30 pages I felt compelled to find their website and place an order for a very nice honing set. The package included a copy of the book which I obviously did not need. I asked them to substitute the book for a copy of the video they sell. They granted my request with no qualms.
I am obliged to them for the knowledge they have shared and I am sure I will do business with them in the future. I wish I could afford to purchase the honing set I bought for myself as gifts for loved ones.
FIVE stars without a doubt.

Simple, Straightforward, Instructive.......2006-03-23
A really excellent resource for a new or slightly experienced craftsman who would like a good introduction to getting more out of his/her tablesaw than the usual, basic cuts. Good photos, good explanations of the jigs, and most importantly: No time wasted discussing (ugh) "how to choose a table saw."
My main gripe with most tablesaw books is that so many pages are wasted to describe how to choose a saw--something many folks (myself included) have already done by the time they get around to buying a tablesaw book. Burton skips all that fluff, delves straight into the basics of choosing the right blade for the task, and then explains the nuts-and-bolts of setting up the table saw to: (1) make basic and tricky cuts with precision, (2) accomplish basic and semi-advanced joinery, (3) perform basic and advanced shaping operations, (4) cut and manage sheet stock, (5) tune up your saw, and (chapters 6 - 8) build three practical pieces of furniture which put your new skills to the test.
I didn't bother to build any of the furniture, but I have learned at least half a dozen solid, useful techniques that will help me perform all kinds of joining and cutting operations I never realized a tablesaw could perform so easily and accurately.
This book is a particularly good resource for a new woodworker or an "advanced novice" wanting to take his/her skills to the next level. It's not as remedial as many similar books, as it assumes a basic understanding of saws on the reader's part (No tedious discussions of which end of the saw is the sharp end, or what a "mitre slot" is used for.) No, it won't make you a fine craftsman overnight (what book could?), and it's not as chock full of elborate jigs and tips as many other books. But unlike most other books, there's little here that is just fluff. While many books try to teach you 1,000 complicated jigs for 1,000 different scenarios you may never need or care about, this book focuses on basic, practical, simplified jigs that will help you on a regular basis. There's something here to help you with just about any cut you are likely to make.
Thankfully, Burton is one of the few woodworkers who still believes it's possible to align and maintain a tablesaw for accurate cuts without needing special measuring equipment. There's no need for dial gauges or special miter-slot devices here. Just a basic bevel gauge, carpenter's square, ruler, block of wood, and/or dial calipers will do the trick--and Burton explains how. Again, very practical.
Finally, worthy of note to some, the dimensions for building the jigs are provided in both metric and imperial measurements. A small detail, but a nice touch for those folks who love the metric system.
Practical and Accurate.......2006-03-05
I took a cabinet making class from Ken Burton last year. He's an exceptional craftsman with remarkable range. This book is very much like his class... there's no fluff. It's practical, accurate, and usable.
Exceptional Book.......2006-02-08
I feel like I'm repeating the gist of the first reviewer's comments, but it seems worth the effort.
Overall I was impressed by the photo quality, the no-nonsense approach, practical safety (I get tired of excess warnings), and the author's cheapness! (sorry, Burton) He does NOT make jigs that are works of art - he uses 2x pine, thin MDF... his outfeed table is an old L-shaped kitchen counter with most of the original carcass... [I hope this makes sense - I admire his attitude and I find his frugality refreshing.] He makes featherboards but also uses a commercial featherboard.
Chapter 1 is basic info but there is a lot of good stuff, including making a splitter, modifying your miter guage so it fits the slot better, a different method of blade removal, CHEAP sleds, etc.
Chapter 2 is joinery - box joint, lock joint, shims for dados, splines... Even a suggestion to have a dedicated dove tail blade with teeth ground to 10 degrees to make the waste clean-out easier.
Chapter 3 is shaping - he even shows molder blades. He has a jigs to follow a pattern (like is used with routers), coves, half coves.
Chapter 4 is cutting sheet stock. I personally have decided 4x8 sheets should be cut to slightly oversized with something like a Festool Saw or a EurekaZone jig and then trimmed on a TS - the infeed & outfeed stuff is just too hard in my opinion.
Chapter 5 is tuning up your waw - it's a broad brush, obviously, but he hits the right notes.
Chapter 5-8 (1 chapter in my head) has 3 projects to use the new skills you learned in the first 100 pages. A spice cabinet with a paneled door, a small valet for your dresser, and a demilune table that includes bentwood lamination out of cherry that was "table sawn" on his table saw. I liked the examaples - and I thought the how-to photos really did a good job. it worked well for my ADD addled brain!
Good book.
Excellent Tutorial and Reference.......2005-03-17
This book has a ton of valuable, useful information. Burton's approach to table saw techniques is both concise and easy to follow .
The author takes a no-nonsense approach to building jigs an fixtures for the saw, de-emphisizing the myth that you need to spend big $$$ to get a good quality, useful jig or fixture. (Patterns and construction details for all of the jigs he discusses are provided in the book).
He takes you step-by-step through safety, setup, tuning, as well as simple and complex joinery and shaping. This is an excellent guide and reference that I keep at the ready.

Jim Rogan was born to a single mother—a cocktail waitress who was later convicted of welfare fraud; his bartender-father abandoned them both before he was born. After a rough-and-tumble childhood in San Francisco's hardscrabble Mission District—where he was raised by his colorful extended family—he became a political junkie at the age of nine, and once received help with his homework from Harry Truman. But Rogan traveled with a tough circle of friends; after years of borderline delinquency he was expelled from high school, became a porn theater bouncer, and then a bartender at a strip joint and a Hell's Angels bar. Along the way, a young Arkansas politician advised him to study law and become a member of a different kind of bar.
In time Rogan scrapped his way through college and law school. He was appointed a Los Angeles County DA, prosecuting members of the notorious Crips and Bloods gangs; then became a judge, a state legislator, and finally a congressman from Southern California. And in 1998, as a Republican member of the House Judiciary Committee, he found himself prosecuting the impeachment of the President of the United States—Bill Clinton, the same Arkansas politician who advised him to go into law and politics two decades earlier.
Rough Edges is a rarity among Washington tales: full of outrageous stories, wild humor, pull-no-punches candor, and downright fun. Replete with character and characters, and told in Rogan's engaging and unswervingly frank voice, Rogan's story is certainly the most freewheeling—and perhaps the most honest—political memoir ever written.

From the 'Hood to the Hill.......2006-01-20
This is a fascinating book about an affable and intelligent man who overcame incredible odds. I tried to envision him as a bouncer on the Sunset Strip but could not. I've seen him speak and he was funny and witty, both traits sorely missing in our stiff Congress. Don't be surprised to see him back in action representing the OC in DC.
Rogan and friends are total hypocrites.......2005-10-22
I lived across the hall from one of Rogan's "Mission buddies" for nearly a year in Culver City.
I figure that the apple doesnt fall far from the tree.
I dont claim to be squeaky clean or innocent by any stretch, but if it "takes one to know one" and Frank DeBrose is Rogan's lifelong friend, then it is a short hop to reality in realizing that this book is perhaps the largest steaming pile of parrot droppings mixed with creative BS ever to find its way to a printing press.
Delightfully written?
Yes.
A grain of truth in the entire book...probably not.
My suspicion is that Clinton or his staff might have had the goods on aspects of Rogan's life that Rogan preferred to keep from public view.
If Rogan's private life is anything like Frank's, and I *suspect* it was, that would be sufficient motivation for his drive to impeach a sitting President.
It would also shed a lot of light on what really lies beneath the slick facade of most "conservative" Republicans in this day and age.
Perhaps it should be listed as a work of fiction.
Shades of greatness, but something was missing.......2005-08-28
On the whole, this was an awe-inspiring story, the type of rags to riches and pull yourself up by your bootstraps book that everybody can appreciate. Mr. Rogan spends far too long though discussing his bartending stories, and far too little time discussing the reasons I bought the book 1) To read more about his time in state government 2)to understand more compleatly the reasons when he became a Republican...his 'switch' was profound and I wanted to better understand how it came to happen and 3) more about his role in the impeachment hearings. On the plus side, the stories about how he became involved in politics and the people he met were frankly awe-inspiring. The world would be better served if more youngsters had a passion for politics like Rogan had. Solid beginning, okay middle, great close, gets this book a 4.
Proof That the American Dream Exists.......2005-08-04
What an amazing life story! I read most of this book on a plane from Washington D.C. to LA. I was actually disappointed when the plane landed because I only had a few more chapters to go and I didn't want to stop reading.
The author tells of his journey from the Mission District in San Francisco to halls of Congress. The book is surprisingly enjoyable considering that the author is a lawyer (and lawyers often write in a yawn inspiring manner). The passengers on my plane kept on turning around to look at me as I laughed out loud or stiffled tears. Republican or Democrat, young or old, rich or poor...you will enjoy this book!
Rough Edges.......2005-04-28
This was by far one of the best books we have read about success in life. Everyone should read it. Fantastic!!!!!
We wish Jim and his family the best in life.
Book Description
In this timely book, Jonathan D. Moreno takes up some of the most important questions in clinical ethics today. Moreno's view is that moral values emerge out of human experience, a view that creates a compelling conceptual framework for bioethics.
To begin, Moreno recalls his experience as a hospital ethicist and how that shaped his understanding of what bioethics is about, both as theory and practice. His focus then turns to a difficult moral paradox: the need to advance medical knowledge by using human beings in research. His account of the way American medicine has reached a strong protectionist approach to managing this paradox leads to discussions of vulnerable groups whose circumstances demand that we reflect on the way this issue should be approached in the future.
Moreno then takes up the historical and ethical role of the national security dimensions of human experimentation. His account casts a drastically different light on the origins of modern bioethics, especially on the central document of modern human experimentation, the Nuremberg Code.
In the last section, Moreno pushes the bioethics envelope in a naturalistic examination of emerging values concerning the neurosciences and bioterrorism.
Is There an Ethicist in the House? tackles difficult issues with clarity and insight. The book will be welcomed not only by medical professionals but also by lay readers who seek to understand the philosophical foundations of contemporary medical ethics.

Book Description
Neve Halloran and her daughter have shared a fierce love for the austere beauty of Rhode Island’s South County ever since Neve guided Mickey’s first baby steps along the sandy shore. Now, with Mickey a teenager and Neve’s last hope for happiness with her daughter’s loving but unstable father gone, both will struggle to make a new life together amid the windswept landscape that sustains them.
Captivated by a fragile wildlife sanctuary, Mickey will move toward womanhood in the company of a lonely boy who shares her instinctive way with the creatures of the coast. And Neve will find herself drawn to a man who has devoted his life to the sanctuary, but who is unable to share the pain of a recent loss—or reconnect with the father who still bears the scars of World War II.
As winter gives way to spring, and spring to summer, a secret will emerge that has lain buried in the depths just offshore for decades, a secret that will galvanize the small seaside community. For the waters bear their own vestige of the past—and their ceaseless rhythms may point the way to hope and new beginnings.
Lyrical, luminous, and utterly captivating,
The Edge of Winter is Luanne Rice at her most penetrating and insightful, in a moving exploration of the bonds that shape us and set us free.

Thanks for the service and it was a great book but I thought I had ordered an audio cd...Danalynn
Awesome!.......2007-08-13
I was suprised at the low rating by others of this book. It's one of the best books I've read in a long time. I plan to pass it on to several people. It was so moving. I love the characters and the descriptive setting. I was disappointed when I was finished reading it because I know it will be awhile before I find another book that I enjoy so much.
One of Rice's best novels........2007-07-13
I was shocked to read negative reviews here. I really enjoyed this novel, probably one of my favorites written by Luanne Rice. Predictability seems to be an issue for other reviewers...to that, I say read a mystery if you want less predictability. But for those who want to read a novel that explores the human heart's ability to forgive not only others but oneself as well, this is a story that will keep you interested and inspired.
A Sweet, Lyrical, 'War-Ravaged' Story.......2007-05-20
Luanne Rice's latest novel, The Edge of Winter, was a delight to read. It is not a fast-paced novel filled with mega-action or explosions. There is no big chase scene or hold your breath pivotal moment. What it does have is a slow, steady buildup of plot and an intense look at the lives of numerous scarred characters and how they are intertwined, brought together by old wars, new wars, love, family ties, death, secrets and forgiveness. If you're patient with this book, you'll come to know these characters and care for them...and miss them when you're done.
The Edge of Winter is a journey, rich with details of the land and nature--of snowy owls, windswept beaches and watery graves. It is the story of Mickey and her mom, Neve. A story of sweet, innocent first love and cautious, suspicious second love. Mickey is a teenager with a soft spot for all things wounded, including an injured owl and Shane, a lonely teenaged boy with a passion for surfing. Neve, frustrated with her `deadbeat' ex-husband, is drawn to Tim O'Casey, the ranger from Refuge Beach, where a German submarine had sank off the coast after being bombed in World War II.
When a rich and powerful man decides to raise the submarine and turn it into a museum, Mickey and Shane are spurred on to save the submarine's resting place and a piece of their history. But there are secrets that haunt the waters. Perhaps, the lost souls don't want to be raised. In this story, there are many lost souls who need saving, and that may be its only down side. It may be unrealistic to wrap up every character in a 'happily ever after' theme, but I know (as an author myself) it is so very tempting.
The Edge of Winter is a tribute to Luanne's father, a navigator-bombardier who flew in World War II, and to all the men and women fighting wars, then and now, on both sides. The author writes about the far-reaching and ravaging effects of war that carry on for generations. We are shown how forgiveness and understanding can set free even the most crippling guilt. The last few chapters are very emotional and really bring forth the author's message: "It was war."
A simple but heartfelt summer read with unforgettable characters, perfect for reading while at the cottage or relaxing on a beach. I gave this novel 4.5 stars mainly because my favorite Luanne Rice novel is still Beach Girls.
~ Cheryl Kaye Tardif, author of Whale Song, The River and Divine Intervention
A definite skimmer.......2007-05-01
I barely made it through this book and the only way I made it through is by skimming a lot of it. It was just dull and I never really cared about any of the characters, they were too contrived and cliche. It's like the author has someone in her family or something that was a veteran so maybe she wanted to write that into a story, but it was just a completely unbelievable plot and it's a contest what I did more, skim or eyeroll.

Good instruction.......2007-05-15
I've been coaching my son in his pitching for the last four years now, and this is definitely the best book on technique and skill development I've ever encountered. It really breaks down the sequence of motion, gives pertinent and effective drills to use and deals with both the physical and mental aspects of pitching. Tom House really knows his stuff!
An Astonishing Book.......2006-05-18
If you're just starting to pitch or have been pitching for years this book is defiantly for you. This book defiantly answered some of the questions that I had about pitching. My arm had been hurting early in the season for about the past three years. As I was reading I came upon a section that told you how to take care of your arm but, it also told you how to make it stronger in the off season. If you're having trouble getting guys out on a 0-2 pitch they give new pitches to try.
The person that wrote this book, Tom House, is defiantly in front of his time when it comes to pitching. He was a major league pitching coach for a number of years, so you know that it's going to be valuable things that you're learning. One of the best things that I liked about this book is that it had major leaguers telling their experiences with the book and that it actually helped their pitching game.
In this book it doesn't just tell you how to keep your arm in shape or throwing new pitches. It also teaches you how to make your arm stronger so you can get more velocity on your fastball. It gives you about 25 different lifts with dumb bells that work your rotator cuff. It also gives you stretches that can make your arm much more limber so you can get more velocity on your ball.
I really like this book and I think that it's is perfect for all pitching ages. I liked it because it gave major league advice. It was a book written by a very respectable pitching coach that defiantly knows his stuff. You know that when you pick up this book you are going to get very valuable information. I know that if I ever have a question about pitching then I know where to look.
Pitching explained in detail.......2004-07-07
The Pitching Edge was written by the former pitching coach of the Texas Rangers. He was innovative and sometimes controversial. This tome is comprehensive, covering the physical, training and mental aspect of being a quality pitcher. The book is not necessarily aimed at youth, but I have used the to help my under 10 year old player learn the basics.
I found that some of the language in the book to be loosely used and obtuse. Therefore I doubt that a young reader would get everything the book has to offer. However, especially when used in conjunction with the companion video, this book is a great springboard for the young pitcher when guided by an adult. (See my review of the video for more detail)
One qualifier is required. House does not agree that young pitchers should be restricted from throwing breaking pitches. That was against convention when the book was released 10 years ago and convention has not changed. For further reference you could check the USABaseball web site for a great positon paper. Simply add (slash)med_position_statement(dot)html to the root url to see the page. These athletes are at beginning of their pro careers and this statement is about how to get them to this state.
I give my ranking about all the other items in the book exclusive of the breaking pitch advice for youth pitchers. I have not allowed my young pitcher to start throwing those types of pitches for fear of arm injury.
Good for older readers.......2002-04-10
I wish this book was around when I was pitching in high school and college. It would have helped me in countless ways (better fundamentals, skill work, and specific exercises for pitchers). Now I'm 44 and pitching in an over 40 league!
If you are in high school or older I highly recommend this book. Dad, it would be good for you to read and then use it to teach a younger baseball player. If you are a high school or college coach, you OWE it to your kids to read this and help them.
Good Luck.
The Pitching Edge by Tom House.......2002-03-16
House did not write this book for Little League coaches who want to help their kids. It is loaded with hyper-technical jargon that House does not explain and won't make sense to experienced players and coaches. For example, in a section on how to pitch off a mound, House states, "A pitcher must find and keep an upper body spine-to-hip relationship with a constant angle of flex in posting knee at front leg lift, stride and landing -- directing upper body into torso rotation and launch of a baseball." What? His science may be correct, but you won't benefit from this book because House does not translate the science into common sense terms that ballplayers will understand.
Book Description
Tim LaHaye’s most exciting series ever, Babylon Rising, continues with this explosive new installment, including more revelations than ever before. In
The Edge of Darkness, LaHaye reveals the meaning behind some of the most carefully guarded Biblical prophecies to expose a conspiracy with terrifying consequences for our modern world.
This time Michael Murphy sets off in search of the Lost Temple of Dagon and the dark secrets of the strange god once worshipped by the ancient Philistines. His quest will lead to a final confrontation with an old enemy and uncover one of the Bible’s most feared warnings–a prophecy of false miracles, false messiahs, and ultimate evil that will be fulfilled in our time...and that not even Murphy can stop once it’s begun.
Once again Tim LaHaye combines his unmatched insight into Biblical prophecy with his unique skills as a master storyteller to deliver a suspense thriller of nonstop action with a thought-provoking message for our troubled times.

Tim LaHaye does it again.......2007-09-05
Tim LaHaye has a way with blending fiction into biblical prophecy. His stories are fast-paced, and hard to put down.
"The Edge of Darkness" tells of the fast approaching time of the anti-christ. This series is a must read for everybody.
When will book 5 be out?.......2007-08-30
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book but as with the others it did not conclude. The way scripture is woven into the story line makes it interesting and I believe will lead to further investigation by those not familiar with the themes. A good thing.
Unable to Review .......2007-08-28
I do not have a review as I did not receive the book. The order was cancelled by Amazon stating that they could not deliver the item to the address listed. This is strange as I have received other books at the same address. I was not very happy about it. I will now have to go and purchase it at the Barnes & Noble store.
This series keeps getting more and more disappointing..........2007-06-13
I was a huge fan of the first book in the Babylon Rising series, but I feel that the subsequent novels--including and especially this one--have slowly but surely been going downhill. The Edge of Darkness and the third book, The Europa Conspiracy, have lacked the action of the first book, and even of the second book, The Secret on Ararat. This novel also consisted mainly of lackluster dialogue and ridiculously simple thoughts on the part of its characters, along with childish comparisons (such as toward the end of the book, when the Seven are comparing their actions to fountains etc. at the Chateau de Versailles) that served as a constant annoyance.
Also, Tim Lahaye kills off many important characters in this Babylon Rising installation. I won't name names because I don't want to spoil things for anyone who hasn't read this book yet, but I feel that it's a bit late for the authors to start introducing new MAIN characters into the series, which is what they will have to do now that all but a couple of its main characters are dead. The authors need to go back to the basics of what made the first Babylon Rising book, and even the second one, the hits that they were.
"Edge of Darkness" keeps you on Edge of Seat.......2007-05-08
As with this whole series this an excellent book. I look forward to any more that this serious might produce.

FABULOUS!.......2007-07-26
How in the world can anyone say the items in this book dont relate to each other. Sounds like you have NO sense of decorating! This book is one of the best books I have ever seen. It is unbelieveable all the ideas that are in this book! Definately a book I will keep and read over and over! Great ideas, inspiration and pictures, but only if you have an open mind and a creative style will you understand this book! Absolutely AMAZING!!!
decorating.....not.......2002-03-24
i ordered this book to give me some ideas and decorating tips, what i got are pictures of old flea market items, that have nothing to do with each other. didn't help a bit, and truthfully if it didn't cost so much to return, i'd return it in a second.

Fantastic Photography that shows a variety of styles!.......2000-05-05
I am a fan of Chris Mead, and he didn't let me down with thisbook. I love the way many of the homes are decorated in this book. Ilove white walls, and I am thrilled to see so many of them in this book. For all those decorator's that say "Give your home warmth with wall color, " here is my rebuttal. I LOVE the peacefulness of white walls and this book inadvertantly demonstrates just how wonderful all the flea market finds look against a white backdrop. The styles provided in this book are varied and clearly loved by the home owners. A wide range of economic approaches are demonstrated in this spectrum of flea market finds. A fun, informative book with wonderful pictures to garner ideas.
I also recommend another book, Flea Market Decorating.......2000-03-24
This is a delightful book, but I also recommend a new book that's just out. It's Flea Market Decorating, which is full of fresh new ideas, especially about recasting old objects in new ways. For me, it captures the fun of going to flea markets and using those little treasures to personalize my home.
