Book Description

Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.

Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.

5 out of 5 stars Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09

There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.

For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.

5 out of 5 stars Very Interesting.......2007-03-07

It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.

4 out of 5 stars History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10

Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.

I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.

Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.

Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.

I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.

This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Book Description

The Body Electric tells the fascinating story of our bioelectric selves. Robert O. Becker, a pioneer in the filed of regeneration and its relationship to electrical currents in living things, challenges the established mechanistic understanding of the body. He found clues to the healing process in the long-discarded theory that electricity is vital to life. But as exciting as Becker's discoveries are, pointing to the day when human limbs, spinal cords, and organs may be regenerated after they have been damaged, equally fascinating is the story of Becker's struggle to do such original work. The Body Electric explores new pathways in our understanding of evolution, acupuncture, psychic phenomena, and healing.

2 out of 5 stars The Body Electric.......2007-09-12

The information was not what I expected in regard to a misleading title. Anyone in the acupuncture field, as I am, should not be persuaded to buy this book. It basically deals with reptilian experiments done 50 or more years ago. It is a biology book, in a sense. I wish I had not purchased it!

5 out of 5 stars Ohh my... This has to be one of the most interesting books I've ever read!.......2007-08-18

Honestly, if I could give this book 10 stars, I would.

I was worried this would be some hippy-dippy, new age ride, based on some of the chapter headings. But concealed behind the facade of odd chapter headings is a truly amazing scientific work. I'm blown away. Becker & Selden go into excruciatingly beautiful detail of any number of experiments exposing some of the electrical plumbing and electrical signaling going on in complex bodies. This includes bone regeneration through electrical currents, partial or complete limb regeneration in Rats and salamanders through electrical processes. It refers to known cases of young children (under 11 y/o) regrowing fingertips that have been severed in accidents and NOT been operated on, or had skin grafts that inhibit the regenerative process. They also go into the removal of bacterial infections with positive silver electrodes approximating the body's natural healing electrical currents. (I think I now know why colloidal silver is popular as an anti-infections agent and silver nitrate {I think?} is used when babies are born to ward off infection...)

This book is written with the lay reader in mind. You don't need a medical background to understand and be enraptured by this book. As I may have said already (or not), I can't put it down. It's THAT GOOD! I hope this stuff is taught in medical school and more research goes into this field. I have the feeling it holds the key to higher level human regeneration and life extension (through making use of and maintaining the body's existing electrical systems)...

Just... WOW!

5 out of 5 stars Ahead of his time..........2007-02-05

I'm not really one for science books, but this book has got to be the exception. If you have any chronic or 'incurable' disease, try to hold on - because fortunately there are at least a few doctors and researchers out there who are bright enough to think outside the box and challenge existing theories regarding the workings of the human body - in particular, the electricity of the human body and how it coincides with the universe.

The author walks the reader through his discoveries that not only is it feasible for the human body to regenerate (just like the salamander's), but most likely, this is what our bodies were designed to do from the get-go, until we surrounded ourselves with electromagnetic fields of pollution so powerful that our perfectly designed DNA, immune systems, cardiovascular systems, endocrine systems, neuromuscular systems became 'confused' by all the external commotion.

The author of this book represents what research 'should be' about, but for the most part isn't, and the reader cannot help but become a part of this researcher's emotion.

If I ever have a chance to meet the author of this book, I will be honored. Until then, I will recommend this book to anyone who values the perfectly amazing life God gave them and the perfectly synchronized universe He created to sustain that life. I only pray that there are more reseachers out there bravely willing to poke holes in the current theories that the human body is merely a collection of chemical reactions, unopposed by a higher force.

The author touches on this, and I am in agreement - I have to wonder if perhaps all the bad we see around us today - broken marriages, suicides, bombings, disease, pain, suffering, greed - is this merely a by-product of all the manmade electromagnetic distress surrounding each and every one of us on a daily basis? After reading this book, you will think twice about what we've sacrificed for the sake of 'technology' - everlasting life on earth.

5 out of 5 stars Very interesting!.......2007-01-10

If you are pretty well versed in physiology and basic biology, you will probably love this book! As an engineer and experimental scientist Dr. Becker opened my eyes to a whole new area of study which, politics aside, has the potential to change almost every person's life.

5 out of 5 stars It is the best non-fiction book I have ever read.......2006-08-12

The first half the book held my attention like when I read a Clive Cussler adventure.

Dr. Becker patiently explains both biology and electricity building up to providing the understanding of regeneration as his research progressed.

The next half of the book explains first how electromagentism affects humans, then the potential hazards of electromagnetism are addressed.

Overall this book is very well written and I recommend it to all my friends whether they are engineers like me or not.

5 out of 5 stars Interesting Book.......2006-11-10

The title explains it all. It's basically a history book of medicine written in a very modern, thought provoking way. I read it as part of a class, but it was very interesting. It's amazing to see how much knowledge the ancient peoples knew about medicine and how far we've come since then. It's funny how many medical advacements have had to be rediscovered because people's discoveries aren't accepted by society.

5 out of 5 stars A physician from San Francisco Bay writes:.......2004-08-15

I highly recommend this book, especially to those who practice or plan to practice in the field of medicine. Even for non-physicians, I think reading Dr. Adler's "Medical Firsts" will be a very enriching and worthwhile experience. The author has created an educational yet highly entertaining work in which he has chosen to write about specific physician/scientists throughout history who he feels were the most visionary and heroic in their contributions to the advancement of Western Medicine. In reading the book, I feel as if I have been taken on a unique journey through medical hisotry, which at times appears like a complex maze. Along the way, the author describes some tragic blind alleys where several of these physician/scientists who had come forth with potentially life saving discoveries were shunned and considered to be heretics because they dared to challenge the status quo with their scientific apoproach to medical research and practice.

In each concise and well-written chapter, the author's respect and admiration for the enlightened scientific method practiced by these venerable physician researchers comes through vividly. I found the author's message very inspiring: if we are able to trust and support an unbiased and scientific approach to the alleviation of suffering and disease, we may someday fulfill the great promise of these astounding medical advances to offer superior quality of life for all of humanity.

5 out of 5 stars A superbly fantastic journey through knowledge and history.......2004-08-09

Medical Firsts: From Hippocrates To The Human Genome by psychologist and science journalist Robert E. Adler is the amazing story of the evolution of Western medicine as achieved through the lives and work of more than thirty of its greatest practitioners. Woven in storytelling prose for a grand reader's tour through history, Medical Firsts covers from how the Greek physician Hippocrates grounded the foundation of medicine in science and observation to the breakthrough advances and discoveries of modern medical technology. A superbly fantastic journey through knowledge and history alike.

5 out of 5 stars Don't be afraid!!!.......2004-06-23

As a lay person, I cautiously picked up Medical Firsts thinking I wouldn't understand a word. Surprise, surprise. I not only understood, but was blown away by what I didn't know. Adler made the lives and works of medical pioneers who laid the ground work for what we all take for granted come alive for me. Since I've actively repelled anything remotely connected to science all my life, almost every page had a "wow" factor.

The short chapters made it a lot more readable for me as a science challenged reader. With so much new info, I was grateful to pause after each one to appreciate the enormity of the discovery. I developed a reverence and gratituide to those who overcame enormous social barriers and fought, amazingly, the same hurdles that impede progress today - fear of change, fear of the unknown.

Thanks to Adler, I just might tiptoe back into new bookstore aisles.

5 out of 5 stars Adler's Second Book on Firsts!.......2004-05-19

Medical Firsts is a well written, interesting, and informative account of preeminent medical achievements over the past 2500 years. It is well worth reading whether you are a medical professional or simply have a curious mind. Robert Adler's style of writing is easy to follow, entertaining, and intelligent. This book is organized into twenty-eight bite-sized chapters, each of which is thoroughly researched and very fascinating on its own. After reading Robert Adler's first great book, Science Firsts, I had very high expectations. I was certainly not disappointed and you won't be either. I highly recommend this book.

    Product Description

Molecular imaging is a rapidly emerging field that translates many concepts developed for molecular biology and cellular imaging to the in vivo imaging of intact organisms. The technique allows the study of molecular biological events in their full context and will therefore become an indispensable tool for biomedical research and drug discovery and development. This volume familiarizes the reader with the concepts of imaging and molecular imaging in particular. Basic principles of imaging technologies, reporter moieties for the various imaging modalities and the design of target reporter constructs are described in the first part. The second part illustrates how these tools can be used to visualize relevant molecular events: the biodistribution of drugs/ligands, the expression of drug targets (receptors, enzymes), and the consequences of the molecular drug-target interactions (pathway activations, system responses). A final chapter deals with visualization of cell migration (cell therapies).

5 out of 5 stars Summarizes the Current State of the Art.......2006-03-11

It seems that with the ability to get any signal at all through a body, the modern day imaging systems can produce an image with useful information. In this book various signal generating systems (I guess you would call them) be it X-Ray tomography, magnetic resonance, and nuclear imaging are discussed.

This is followed with a discussion on the various techniques for reporting the images. Finally the book discusses the uses of these imaging techniques in examining the actions of drugs in living animals. These techniques are non-invasive so that what the drug is doing can be observed in real time. This is extremely important as getting the drug to the proper location in the patient where it can work is of the utmost in importance. Other uses of the technology are likewise discussed such as cell migration.

This book represents a good summary of the state of the art as it exists today and points in some of the directions that research is going in this rapidly emerging field.

    5 out of 5 stars Perfect Shape.......2007-09-17

Was a little nervous about purchasing a book online but it came back in perfect shape and was exactly what i was looking for. Looks the same as buying it in the campus bookstore but at a savings of about 45$!

    3 out of 5 stars Good Resource.......2006-03-15

This book has been a good resource in my program. It was originally supposed to be the testbook for our radiographic physics and equipment class but I haven't used it very much in that regard. Only about 1/4-1/3 of the book covers this topic. Overall, it is a good resource because it covers many areas within radiography.

4 out of 5 stars Radiology Physics Workbook.......2006-02-21

Overall, I thought this workbook to be very helpful. While not all of the information in the workbook was covered or required for the classroom, an understanding of all of the chapter material aided in increasing test scores. Be wary of the answer keys in the back; not all are correct. I found that at least one question in a set had a wrong answer listed in the key. Look up the answer in the text instead of relying on the keys; you will also gain more information this way helping to increase your test scores.

5 out of 5 stars Hits the mark..........2006-01-13

This book is very good in accurately and easily describing the x-ray system, fluoroscopy, radiologic physics, artifacts, and digital x-ray imaging. This book greatly helped me in school and served as an outstanding study reference for the ARRT exam. This book ranks high along with "The Ultimate Study Guide for the Registry Examination in Radiography: Key Review Questions and Answers",Volumes 1 and 2 by Patrick Leonardi. These volumes had tons of pertinent questions/answers for ARRT prep. "Radiologic Science for Technologists: Physics, Biology and Protection" by Stewart C. Bushong will also continue to serve as a reference for years to come.

5 out of 5 stars FIBC Educational Tool.......2001-04-17

I found the textbook to most helpful as I prepared for my coursework and professional exams. The examples are thorough and the illustrations are creative. The supporting workbook was key to my successful completion of the course. If this is your topic, this is the book for you.

    Book Description

Intended for advanced undergraduate and beginning graduate students in biophysics, physiology, medical physics, cell biology, and biomedical engineering, this wide-ranging text bridges the gap between introductory physics and its application to the life and biomedical sciences. This extensively revised and updated fourth edition reflects new developments at the burgeoning interface between physics and biomedicine. Among the many topics treated are: forces in the skeletal system; fluid flow, with examples from the circulatory system; the logistic equation; scaling; transport of neutral particles by diffusion and by solvent drag; membranes and osmosis; equipartition of energy in statistical mechanics; the chemical potential and free energy; biological magnetic fields; membranes and gated channels in membranes; linear and nonlinear feedback systems; nonlinear phenomena, including biological clocks and chaotic behavior; signal analysis, noise and stochastic resonance detection of weak signals; image formation and description; image reconstruction; hearing and medical ultrasound; atoms and light; near infrared scattering; optical coherence tomography; infrared radiation; ultraviolet light; radiometry and photometry; the interaction of photons and charged particles in tissue; radiological physics and the use of x-rays in diagnosis and therapy; nuclear medicine; and magnetic resonance imaging. Discussion of theory is more closely linked to experiment, and stochastic processes are presented as an integral part of biological systems. A prior course in physics and in calculus is assumed.

Over 800 problems (a 44% increase from the third edition) are included to test the student's understanding and to provide additional biological examples. A solutions manual is available to instructors. Each chapter has an extensive list of references as well as useful bibliographies for further reading. Intermediate Physics for Medicine and Biology is also ideal for self study and as a reference for workers in medical and biological research.

    5 out of 5 stars A must-read for physicists interested in biology.......2007-10-08

Intermediate Physics for Medicine and Biology (Biological and Medical Physics, Biomedical Engineering) is now in its fourth edition, and gets better every time. This is the ideal starting place for biologists who need to use physics to explain something biological or physiological, or physicists who want to apply quantitative physics theories or techniques to biological phenomena or delve into medical or biological physics. The derivations and illustrations are clear and useful, and the book provides detailed explanations rather than just decreeing the applicable equation for a particular phenomenon. The rich set of problems makes it an ideal textbook for physics or biomedical engineering or quantitative biology; the breadth of the material makes it a wonderful reference book.

        5 out of 5 stars Very comprehensible.......2007-07-28

I am a nuclear pharmacist who gets to work with a lot of introductory students. This book has greatly increased my knowledge of this subject and it is very clearly written even for the non-specialist in radiobiology. I would buy this again.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent book for the radiology and radiation oncology resident!.......2006-08-26

This book has an excellent concise layout. The chapters are well written with almost every concept covered on the basis of primary literature findings; however, this is burdensome in certain locations where a simple sentence would have been better fit instead of an experiment based explanation of a more remote concept. Additionally, there are some areas, such as the molecular biology sections, that pack in details that take the concept of the mark. Despite this, the textbook is definitely an easy read. The Key points sections at the end is very helpful. There are abundant figures, tables, and graphs for ease of integration of material.

4 out of 5 stars good but not perfect.......2003-09-23

Yes, this book covers the important topics, and overall it is pretty readable, but I wish the editors had not felt compelled to convert every single mention of Grays into rads. For example, here is a passage from the book:

"In 1964, a 38-year-old man, working in a uranium-235 recovery plant, was involved in an accidental nuclear excursion. He received a total-body dose estimated to be about 88 Gy (8,800 rads) made up of 22 Gy (2,200 rads) of neutrons and 66 Gy (6,600 rads) of gamma-rays."

The whole book is like that. The mental intrusion of such frequent parenthetical remarks would be irritating enough in any text, but in this case the conversion from Grays and rads is by a multiple of ten and so the conversion is comically unnecessary. Presumably radiation oncologists, radiologists, and radiobiologists are bright enough to be able to multiply a number by 100 in their heads. It would suffice to state in the front of the book or in an appendix the relationship between Grays and rads, and to make no further mention of rads.

        5 out of 5 stars Essential for Radiobiology/Radiation Oncology.......2003-05-19

Not only is this book the gold standard, but it is eminently readable. It "sticks". Having seen Dr. Hall lecture I can appreciate how his text reads very much like his class lectures. Makes a topic that a radiation oncologist might find odious rather enjoyable, without sacrificing high standards and scholarly quality.

        5 out of 5 stars A great book, by a great physic........2000-04-24

A must read book for radiation oncology and physics residents. All topics on radiobiology are explained in a comprehensible way. This book, plus "The Physics of Radiation Therapy", by Faiz Khan, are the basics of the knowledge for the people who are begining in the understanding of radiation physics. Great book, written for one of the best physics in the world.
