Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Not long before she died in 1964, the noted environmental writer Rachel Carson wrote an essay for Woman's Home Companion magazine called "Helping Your Child to Wonder." In that essay--reprinted here, with photographs of natural subjects by Nick Kelsh--Carson urged parents to take their children to wild places in order to introduce them to the astonishing variety of life that exists all around us: to study birds, listen to the winds, and observe the stars. Too much of the child's subsequent education, she warns, will be devoted to dimming that "clear-eyed vision, that true instinct for what is beautiful and awe-inspiring" with which children are born; it is the parent's task to be an adult guide who can in turn rediscover the "excitement and mystery of the world we live in." Carson's words are timely, and this beautifully illustrated edition makes a fine gift for new and prospective mothers and fathers. --Gregory McNamee
Book Description
First published more than three decades ago, this reissue of Rachel Carson's award-winning classic brings her unique vision to a new generation of readers. Stunning new photographs by Nick Kelsh beautifully complement Carson's intimate account of adventures with her young nephew, Roger, as they enjoy walks along the rocky coast of Maine and through dense forests and open fields, observing wildlife, strange plants, moonlight and storm clouds, and listening to the "living music" of insects in the underbrush.
"If a child is to keep alive his inborn sense of wonder." Writes Carson, "he needs the companionship of at least one adult who can share it, rediscovering with him the joy, excitement and mystery of the world we live in." The Sense of Wonder is a refreshing antidote to indifference and a guide to capturing the simple power of discovery that Carson views as essential to life.
In her insightful new introduction, Linda Lear remembers Rachel Carson's groundbreaking achievements in the context of the legendary environmentalist's personal commitment to introducing young and old to the miracles of nature.
Kelsh's lush photographs inspire sensual, tactile reactions: masses of leaves floating in a puddle are just waiting to be scooped up and examined more closely. An image of a narrow path through the trees evokes the earthy scent of the woods after a summer rain. Close-ups of mosses and miniature lichen fantasy-lands will spark innocent'as well as more jaded'imaginations. Like a curious child studying things underfoot and within reach, Kelsh's camera is drawn to patterns in nature that too often elude hurried adults'a stand of beech trees in the springtime, patches of melting snow and the ripples from a pebble tossed into a slow-moving stream.
The Sense of Wonder is a timeless volume that will be passed on from children to grandchildren, as treasured as the memory of an early-morning walk when the song of a whippoorwill was heard as if for the first time.

The Sense of Wonder.......2007-03-17
Rachel Carson reveals the world through her interactions with her young nephew. Our role as educators, parents and caregivers of the young child is to give the young mind as many quality experiences where both can revisit, relive and relearn the many wonders of the world around us. The photographs in this edition are a wonderful compliment to the message of Carson's writing.
Lovely book.......2007-03-09
This book makes a great gift for any expecting mother--it's illustrated with beautiful nature photographs, and Rachel Carson's historic essay is inspirational. Young parents, you can learn a lot about how to introduce your child to nature.
Beautiful book for anyone who loves children and nature........2007-01-03
This is a wonderful book about children and nature, but more deeply, about maintaining for yourself and the others in your life the delight, suprise and awe one feels when seeing things as a child does for the first time - a sense of wonder. It is written in lovely prose that really creates the feeling that you are being made privy to the spontaneous thoughts of the author as she traversed the natural world with her little nephew. The photographs are beautiful renderings of found still lives and landscapes, well-photographed by Nick Kelsh. I did think that the prints of the photographs were a little lurid in spots, but it doesn't distract too much from the beauty of the overall product. This book was written by Rachel Carson before she died, and never truly finished. There is an older version of this book, again, with photographs that "Rachel Carson would have wanted" and it's interesting to compare the two. I recommend this book highly for anyone who loves children and nature, and values the powers of observation of the world around them.
An excellent companion to 'Everyday Wonders' by Barry Evans.......2006-03-15
In continuation of my relentless search for better understanding of perceptual sensitivity & sensory acuity, I am very glad to be able to lay my hands on this wonderful book.
To me, I have found it to be an excellent companion to another good book - 'Everyday Wonders: Encountering with the Astonishing World Around Us' - which I have reviewed earlier.
Trust me: Once you have read this timeless volume, you will be really inspired, and not only that, you will never be the same again in looking at the world around you.
Granpa's view.......2005-08-28
We live by the sea and I bought this book with my grandsons (eldest 4) in mind. The photos are excellent and the text is inspiring, but written with an adult reader (parents) in mind. The book has inspired us to try and show our grandchildren more of nature's wonders both on the beach and in the woods, fields and our garden. However they will be a little older before they can appreciate the book for themselves.
Book Description
"The ideas in this book will seem familiar and nonthreatening—yes, teachers can indeed use what they already know and what their children love, but they can also enhance and expand favorite activities, enriching the educational benefits of everyday experiences."
—From the Foreword by Marilou Hyson
Stimulate children’s love of learning while meeting standards and benchmarks!
Teachers today are often challenged by and concerned about the expectations in states' early learning standards. They have questions about their appropriateness, implementation, and tendency to overlook the needs of the growing number of children who are second language learners or who have disabilities and developmental delays. In
Play, Projects, and Preschool Standards, authors Gera Jacobs and Kathy Crowley tackle these questions (and more!) head-on, providing teachers with plenty of lively, creative ideas to develop children's genuine curiosity while building the skills they'll need to succeed in kindergarten and beyond.
In inviting, informal language, the authors walk readers through the creation of well-planned projects and activities that both capture children's interest and enhance social and pre-academic development. Each chapter offers:
- "What Research and the Experts Say" snapshots, and applications of the research in practice
- "Try This" activity ideas that engage children and meet standards
- Suggestions for tailoring activities to meet the needs of bilingual children and children with special needs
This timely book is sure to give teachers the confidence and competence they need to connect the experiences that make preschool so enjoyable with the skill development that makes preschool so necessary.

Preschool teachers and daycare centers concerned with early education receive an excellent survey based on expert insights which provides a variety of projects and activities to enhance early learning in all curriculum areas. It's a workbook of ideas pairing benchmark standards to realistic activities and will provide a wealth of easy ideas.
Book Description
A wonderful supplement to any homeschool curriculum, this book emphasizes the history of civilization from a biblical perspective with terms, definitions, and chapter tests. Students receive an excellent knowledge of people and places in this middle school level book.
Customer Reviews:
Extremley great book.......2002-04-26
This is a great book! It is a fast book for middle school kids and a slow book for elementary kids. It is interesting, well written, well illustrated, and covers a good amount of material. I would recommend this to anybody but it is especially great for homeschoolers
Gets to the source of many discoveries about our world!!!.......1999-04-08
As a homeschooling parent, I am very pleased with this book and the vast amount of information it contains about our world. Most interesting is the authors approach. Not only does he talk about the various discoveries of the past centuries, but he also takes you back to the person and the circumstances that provided the opportunity for the discovery to be made. My children and I have all been made educationally richer thanks to this work.
I will purchase the other books (there are to be three of them total) as soon as I am able to locate them. The quality of information is excellent and I expect the other books to meet the quality and depth as this one has done. I heartily recommend this book to anyone interested in knowing the "who, when, and how" various discoveries were made.
Book Description
From a small town in Pennsylvania came a little girl who saw the magic in spring fog and heard the ocean's song in her heart. This was also the girl who one day would become the groundbreaking environmental author of Silent Spring. In Rachel Carson, young readers will experience all the enchantment of nature as seen through the eyes of the budding scientist. Thomas Locker's lyrical paintings re-create important scenes in her development and are accompanied by memorable quotes from Carson, together with Joseph Bruchac's poetically rendered biography.
Customer Reviews:
A tribute which also covers Rachel Carson's basic concepts.......2005-05-14
Rachel Carson was best known for her book "Silent Spring": her ideas were adopted by environmentalists around the world and fostered many changes and improvements. Carson's life is profiled in Rachel Carson: Preserving A Sense Of Wonder, a picturebook biography offering color reproductions of painted landscapes by Thomas Locker to pair with a survey of her life. A lovely tribute which also covers Rachel Carson's basic concepts.
Introducing young students to the work of Rachel Carson.......2004-09-20
Rachel Carson's most famous book was "Silent Screen," which was translated into more than fifteen foreign languages and is considered the most influential book of the past fifty years. But she also wrote several books to teach young people about nature, including "Help Your Child to Wonder" and "A Sense of Wonder," the latter of which Thomas Locker and Joseph Bruchac incorporates into the title of this volume, "Rachel Carson: Preserving a Sense of Wonder." Larson's lyrical paintings compliment Bruchac's text in telling the story of how a young girl from a small town in Pennsylvania "saw the magic in spring fog and heard the ocean's song in her heart" and grew up to become a groundbreaking environmental author.
Most of the artwork depicts nature scenes, such as young Rachel looking a field of flowers and several nice seascapes. Often Carson is no more than a small figure in these paintings, but there is a nice portrait of Carson, leaning against a fence, with the sea behind her. This appears opposite the most important text in the book, where it is explained to young readers that Carson's book "Silent Spring" was important in helping people understand that breaking one strand in the web of life put every other strand in danger. Those young readers will be surprised to learn that this was not obvious to everybody until Carson wrote her book in the 1960s, but this is indeed the case.
"Preserving a Sense of Wonder" provides a basic introduction to the life and work of Rachel Carson, although certainly there is much more to learn about both her life and her beliefs. The last page of the volume has over a dozen quotes from the works of Rachel Carson (e.g., "Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts"), ideal for teachers or budding conservationists who are interested in having choice quotes for a bulletin board or bedroom wall. This is the third book in Locker's "Images of Conservationists" series, the others being "Walking with Henry: Based on the Life and Works of Henry David Thoreau" and "John Muir: America's Naturalist." Certainly any grade school unit on the environment and conservationism will have to introduce students to these three key figures and these books are a good way of accomplishing that task.
Book Description
Thinking Aloud Allowed! Thinking about God went into a black hole in the 60's with "God Is Dead." Fundamentalism doesn't count, because there's no thinking there. Here's a book that goes all the way into that black hole and comes out the far end into liberation. This challenge is for persons who can read and like to think, and can still sense wonder. The fresh air is wonderful!

Troubled by Religion.......2006-11-18
"Freedom from God" is a very personal case study in the psychology of self-fulfillment. Willson writes from a highly emotional space that makes his book come alive with the joys and pains of living. At the same time Willson brims with the wisdom of one who has integrated a sophisticated understanding of history, science, theology and human nature, with his personal struggle to make sense of his experience. He reveals his intellectual power in his cogent assessment of how religion can work on the human mind to support or suppress our innate sense of wonder, fairness, and love of just being alive. Yet his writing style is colloquial, lively and virtually free of academic jargon.
Willson reveals that his entire world outlook was formed within the fold of an authoritarian patriarchal family and a mainstream religious community, the Presbyterian Church. He pursued the vocation of Minister to the faithful. He earned a Master of Divinity from the prestigious Princeton Theological Seminary, and served as a missionary-pastor in New Mexico for eight years. And then his life took a radical turn.
"Freedom from God" is Willson's personal narrative of his transformation from a controlled agent of a religious community to a liberated free thinker. For Willson this was not an intellectual conversion (although his powerful intellect was clearly involved), but a deep-seated reaction to what he experienced. He rails against his religious community's reduction of its flock to passive, unquestioning acceptance of absurd beliefs. He focuses his laser vision on the hypocrisy of a church leadership that teaches obedience to clerical authority that actually suppresses the personal spiritual experience that the faith community preaches. For example he writes:
Religions may not be much help in the wonder department even though that's what they pretend to be all about...Religions for the most part...harness, channel, control...stultify, mediocritize and asphyxiate that sense of wonder or mystery...Religions channel ecstasy into pageantry. They trade conviction for tradition... Religious organizations prefer to control people, rather than turn them on to wonder, which will turn them loose or make them free... The sense of wonder, and our wonder organ could make our lives so exciting, so vibrant, that it would become unthinkable that we would permit the life-hating forces and powers of religion to spoil everything. So the wonder organ is an evolutionary advantage.
I highly recommend this short and lively book to anyone who feels unfulfilled in their faith community. While Willson does not prescribe, he simply "bears witness" (to use a religious term) to his encounter with ideals that are higher than those conveyed by his former church. Even persons who were always atheists and agnostics will benefit from this book because of the intimate insights provided into the mind of an author who struggled with the ethical contradictions of his religious denomination.
Springs from abiding hope, love, and trust.......2004-01-13
Written by former missionary, pastor, and high school teacher Harry Wilson, Freedom From God: Restoring The Sense Of Wonder is not a rejection of faith, but rather a sharp and highly recommended critique of how the word "God" has been overly contaminated and degraded through everyday secular and politically oriented usage. Emphasizing the importance of restoring a sense of reverence and wonder, Freedom From God springs from abiding hope, love, and trust in ourselves and in a greater power.
Book Description
Sense of Wonder is the personal, often funny, sometimes poignant recollections of Bill Schelly's years as a comic book collector and fanzine publisher in the 1960s and 1970s. It's all here: the fans, the dealers, the comicons, and more, including a special introduction by Rascally Roy Thomas! Paul Levitz writes: "[Sense of Wonder is] charmingly nostalgic, intimate and heart-warming. Schelly's trip through the wilderness years of fandom echoes what so many of us felt when we made a magic connection with other comics fans." Profusely illustrated with 150 photos and illustrations, including rare work by Dick Giordano, Joe Sinnott, Steve Ditko, Neal Adams, Mike Kaluta, Wally Wood, Doug Potter, Dave Cockrum, C. C. An excellent companion for any who have followed the strip and seek more information on historical progression........2007-04-19
Collections strong in comic book artists and art will find this history of the Justice Society of America and friends to be moving: it provides more secrets of the comic characters from the 1940s through the 1980s, surveying major issues and events, providing black and white reproductions of pages, and detailing behind-the-scenes influences on adventures and character appearances. An excellent companion for any who have followed the strip and seek more information on historical progression.

A Comic Geek Treasure Trove.......2007-03-20
I have always been a huge fan of the JSA. In my younger days, I collected every issue of All Star Squadron. As I got older and married, I sold my collection to younger enthusiasts. Now, I can revisit my former passion in this book that describes all the issues of All-Star Squadron as well as interesting articles about the history of All-Star Comics and the JSA. If you are interested in greater understanding of the history of JSA, I heartily recommend this book.
Keep 'em flying!.......2007-03-11
If you liked All-Star Companion vol.1, you'll enjoy vol.2. More info on the Justice Society, plus an issue by issue review of The All-Star Squadron. I'm looking forward to vol.3!
All-Star Companion Vol. 2.......2007-02-22
This was an excellent read. Although I really enjoyed Vol. 1, Vol. 2 mainly deals with the All-Star Squadron series, which is the series I read growing up. It was a fascinating glimpse behind the scenes of one of my favorite super-hero teams. Highly recommended.
All-StarII.......2007-02-06

Book Description
Samuel R. Delany is one of today's most interesting writers. African-American and gay, Delany crosses boundaries--generic (science fiction, memoir, theory, pornography) and academic (literary studies, cultural studies, African-American studies, gay and lesbian studies). Critics both black and white have read Delany as a writer who downplays his racial identity in order to aspire to universal values. In contrast, A Sense of Wonder shows how Delany's works participate in African-American cultural traditions.
The book begins with an analysis of Delany's Dhalgren, using the novel's links to black cultural traditions as the key to unlocking its puzzling content. Jeffrey Allen Tucker's reading of the four-volume Return to Neveryeon series places Delany's explorations of semiotics in dialogue with Frederick Douglass's 1845 Narrative and social histories on slavery in America. From there, Tucker moves to Delany's groundbreaking autobiography, The Motion of Light in Water, his experimental novella Atlantis: Model, 1925, and to his pornographic novel, The Mad Man. Tucker's aim is to advance a reading of identity that acknowledges its multiplicity and permeability without emptying it of socio-political efficacy and meaning.

Extensively researched and meticulously written.......2004-11-12
A Sense Of Wonder: Samuel R. Delany, Race, Identity And Difference is an in-depth study and criticism of the works of Samuel R. Delany, one of the the modern era's most amazing cross-genre writers. Influenced by African-American cultural traditions, even though both black and white critics have interpreted Delany as a writer who downplays racial identity, his works range the gamut from science fiction to autobiography to even pornography. Extensively researched and meticulously written, A Sense Of Wonder is a superb scholarly contribution to academic and literature shelves.
