Years ago my daughter and I took a college zoology class together. We asked for permission to use this coloring book instead of participating in class dissection. Permission was given and my daughter and I made the highest grades in the class.

This book sounds ridiculous, and I was mocked by my roommates for using it in college, but it taught me more than my Zoology professor and text book combined. A great resource for passing the tests as well as retaining the knowledge.
Great Learning Tool.......2007-01-14
This is a unique approach to learning Zoology. The coloring aspect allows people to really connect what they are reading to the actual structures and ideas in taught in classes. Don't be fooled though, the idea isn't to just run through coloring everything to your heart's content. Follow the directions given and read the reading pages before/while you color and you'll learn a lot while having a little fun as well. The other coloring books available are especially recommended if you are a biologist and want to learn a little more about fields of biology that you are maybe not focusing on in college, Marine Biology or the human brain for example.

I picked up this book for fun, and found it to be very useful in my Comparative Vertebrate Morphology Class in college. Great to learn all about different animals! Great as a gift for kids 12 & up.
FINE DESCRIPTIVE DIAGRAMS.......2003-04-03
Designed for students taking biology-based courses in both High School and early University years, this colouring book is equipped with a lot of stuff, which will satisfy its audience.
The coverage of this atlas spanned across a wide variety of animals: from the minute simple ones to the largest and the most complex chordates. Its beautifully illustrated diagrams would appeal to students of biology, zoology, agriculture, veterinary medicine, and a long list of other ancillaries.
Each figure that featured in this book received adequate structural identification, inaddition to a well-described anatomical components. The elaborations given to their respective taxonomies are more than satisfactory.
In fact, there is hardly anything to complain about here: The price of this book is reasonable. Still, I wish that (in subsequent edition), the syllabus of this book should be enlarged, so as to accommodate more specimens.

I just purchased these Dover COloring Books for my mother and she loves them. The detail is out of this world and the variety of colors you can use are only limited by your inagination. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I chose this coloring book for my five years old daughter who loves butterflies and coloring. The lines are bold and simple, yet detailed enough to get the complex coloring, if she desires. The pages also contain descriptions of each butterflies. She is now looking forward to plant flowers that will welcome the butterflies in the spring.
Great For Homeschoolers!.......2006-02-02
We use this coloring book when the kids need a break during homeschool. The pictures are detailed and best for kids 5+. Each page has a short paragraph about the butterfly along with the common and latin names. The only complaint I have is that the color pictures are on the inside cover of the book, so you have to keep flipping back to the cover if you want to color the butterfies accurately.

But it is drawn more like a work of art. Each page is very detailed and for a 3 year old, it gets a little sloppy. However, she loved it. I'd recommend it for ages 5+.
Butterflies Coloring Book.......2000-04-21
This is a pleasant coloring book. Butterflies are show in their habitat and good descriptions are given about their coloring and habitat. The backgrounds are fairly detailed, but in some this ways eliminates details in the butterflies themselves. Colored reference drawings are included in the cover for reference. I'd recommend this book for pleasure drawing for anyone school age and up.

I use these coloring books as out lines and ideas for craft projects and for that they are perfect. However they might be too detailed for younger children to color.

This is a marvelous coloring book. Thirty five birds are sketched in considerable detail, including appropriate backgrounds. In addition, each page includes detailed information about the bird. And the cover includes a photo of each page appropriately colored for your reference. As a reference tool for painters, as an educational tool for children, or simply for pleasure, this is one book I would highly recommend.

Great for take-along.......2007-01-09
This is one of those tiny coloring books (about 4x6) that's great for taking along to church, etc. The pictures are fairly detailed though, so sometimes it's hard to stay in the lines with dull crayons. Colored pencils work great though! Too hard for my 5 year old - fine for the 9 year old.

This product contains coloring pages for young children. Since many of the pages are really multi-2 page scenes I was not has happy as with the single page coloring pages. The images were well done and my grandson seemed to like them.
